I hate the way people on tumblr talk about translation. No, AI didn't destroy the field years ago. Yes, there is some inevitable loss in translation but there's also gains and you don't have to lose your mind thinking you'll never behold the original, just be glad for a minute there's a translation allowing you to access it. Yes, incorrect or bad subtitles suck but subtitles have lots of constraints and usually can't be completely accurate. Yes we're just as annoyed about it as you are.

Something to keep in mind about the possibility of a Luigi's Mansion movie:
The Mario Movie used pop songs from the 80s, in reference to when the Mario franchise began.
Luigi's Mansion came out in 2001.
Which means the soundtrack would need to reference the 2000s.
Oh no.

okay so genuine question
why do some people feel the need to point out and explain in HEAVY detail why a certain ship "wouldn't work in canon" or "isn't realistic"
like
i have people telling me i don't have comprehension skills or media literacy because i enjoy fyolai as a ship
????
literally just leave me alone tf
firstly, these characters are fictional and we can do whatever the fuck we want with them even if that means some people are going to mischaracterize them to the point they're unrecognizable. you don't have to consume fan content like that but it is allowed to exist.
i just feel like it's pointless and it makes a lot of people (especially younger more impressionable fans) feel bad about the things they enjoy when you see these huge rants about why two characters can't be shipped because it's not canon and in canon "they would never" etc.
i respect canon. i also take canon and set it on fire then turn the ashes into whatever i want because it's fun and transformative
bsd canon has a questionable relationship with its female characters. bsd canon has made plenty of questionable choices with both its plot and its characters.
bsd canon is also a wonderful piece of media that we all enjoy for different reasons and interpret in different ways so just like...stop, y'know? it's not that hard to just not look at a certain ship's content if you dislike it, there's no need to keep screaming into the void about how it's not the way it's "meant to be" in canon

Friendly Reminder!
As you know I upload an ungodly amount of screenshots to this site and share them with all of you willingly and very gladly. Now I do not put watermarks on my pictures because I simply cannot do that, I could, technically, but it already takes me so much time taking them and editing them to size and whatnot, so I will not start doing it any time soon.
Why do I say that now?
Well, I know as soon as you upload something to the internet, it's gone, no longer yours, you put it up to share with others and all you can hope for is that nobody will repost it as their own. And frankly, I do not care (okay, a little bit) what anyone does with my screenshots, it is my conscious decision not to watermark them. (To be perfectly honest I never thought anyone would use them for anything because there are so many higher quality screenshots out there!) Don't get me wrong:
You can do anything with my screenshots, really! Of course you can!
But (and I thought that was common courtesy to be honest) when you do, please credit me. At least drop a little hint that those screenshots are not yours. It might not be your intent to do any harm when you use them, you might even have forgotten who you got those pictures from, but not saying anything when posting them, no matter the circumstances, feels a little wrong to me.
It is not my intention to shame anyone. It is just a friendly reminder.
I'm also aware that I do not own anything that is depicted, so I shouldn't "complain" about it now. I do not own anything, I do not own Sebastian Sallow (unfortunately). Now what about MCs? We all have one, we all make them look different. Maybe some look similar. Do we own screenshots of them? I don't know, maybe, a little bit? Probably not. But seeing them on somebody else's post, uncredited, doesn't sit right, does it?
I've debated long and hard with myself if I should even address this. I know it wasn't ill intent, they just wanted to make a point about something, it's okay. It can happen, they might not know better. But it might happen again if I stay silent, right? (By the way, this is not some passive-aggressive non-mention shit, I honestly do not want to call out names because that's not the intention of this post! I am not shaming anyone, I just want to educate, even if they might never see this...)
Listen, the more I write about this the more I want to delete it all and just keep living my life, not caring about anything like that, because is it really that big of a deal? Maybe it's not and I'm just pulling this completely out of proportion... (But I know it also irks me! So I'll keep this wall of text! I probably shouldn't have written this while PMSing, I'm sorry...)
So, TL;DR:
If you use/post any picture you find online, please try to find the source and credit them! And if you have no idea where you got something from, then please just say so!
Thank you! Have a nice day!

secret life has been super fun so far and i'm really enjoying it!! but i have to admit the gimmick makes it feel less and less like a part of the life series as time goes on. not in a bad way or anything, but priorities have shifted from Mostly Normal Minecraft but with the looming threat of death -> each episode is heavily based around tasks; the entire gimmick revolves around artificially influencing what players will do each episode. it's still fun!! but the focus seems to have drifted from the original concept by quite a lot lol

Hi, Therapists! Is there a reason so many of you say "cutting" when what you mean is "self harm", gesture with your hand when asking if we were beaten, ask if by "we" we mean "I"? Do you do it to encourage us to face reality? Do you remove the anaesthesia from the truth on purpose? Because I'm not sure you realize that the distance is intentional and somewhat important when we're not ready to get closer, and mostly it just feels like shit

Atsushi's back in the game!!! ۶( ˆ o ˆ )
#And Kouyou!!!!#Also. I can say Steinbeck is kinda 👀👀👀#King of the specific category of “I forget I like him until he's on screen”#I'm seriously unlocking memories with this rewatch. Like I haven't thought about it in two years–#but I just know when I was watching the anime for the first time I was being like#“Of COURSE the villains need to spend several minutes each episode explaining in detail how their own superpowers work so that the–#protagonists can get a perfect idea of how to best counter them. Why are villains made so freaking stupid in this show” aljhvwslchvqliyqwb#But. Eh. I guess that's just bsd to you.#Alsoooooo random thought of the day: I don't really favour how Tanizaki's ability was adapted in the anime.#I very well understand they were going for this green Matrix-like illusion effect‚ but every time someone says “... Snow?”#I'm like please explain where do you live that has snow glowing green.#Aamsjgvfaskjhfv sorry this is me being very. Cranky and nitpicky and having terrible audience etiquette in refusing to–#engage in suspension of disbelief. It just bugs me akvakcvqkyb I just feel like... Green is such a non-snow color–#that quite of completely disrupts the Light Snow / Sasame Yuki aesthetic. I would have liked it much better light blue or simply white.#What else. The way the Guild just goes on at stereotypes still troubles me a lot. The “usamericans can't be touched by laws–#because they use money to corrupt anyone” “foreign criminal organization come in our country to corrupt our pure and untouched soil”#Idk. Maybe all of it is true. Can it still be deemed a stereotype when it's objectively something that's happened before–#and will probably keep happening?#I suppose I'm just not a fan of the constant hostility against any foreigner. Idk.#This situation besides is extremely ironical. If you meet me irl it probably won't take long to see me being very outspoken about–#how much I despise usa cultural colonization of all other countries. It's something that really bothers me‚ how rooted and pervasive–#their influence is. So in a lot of ways I can relate to the author's sentiment#I just feel that. If you start treating them as stereotypes and ignore the complexity of a country and the wide spectrum of causes–#that contribute to its attitude in international relations. You end up practicing precisely what you're trying to criticize.#Okay this is the last time I'm getting into the politics of the Guild arc lol#random rambles#This time I took watching the episode slow I feel a little late

How is everyone else wrong about Roderich?
-@iron--and--blood
To be honest, my first impulse when I saw this ask was to answer something along the lines of "doesn't everyone think they're the only right person about their blorbo?" But, since you are asking sincerely, I will try to answer sincerely.
My reticence to discuss why I think other people are wrong is more or less coming from my long term experience in this fandom, which I would sum up as "everyone loves you for providing historical tidbits until you want to tell them that their personal favorite headcanon is wrong." I've had far too many people switch from an interest to "it's not that serious/I don't care about historical accuracy" on me over the years. I keep threatening to write a reflection post about how the experience of going from being a person who is interested in history to an academic studying history really soured my experience of the fandom in ways I could not have anticipated, and maybe some day I actually will. But for now, this isn't that post.
Which is a long-winded way of saying don't let what I'm about to say yuck your yum. And if it does, please don't yell at me about it.
Alright, I think a lot of the way people write PruAus especially do not take Roderich particularly seriously. There is a lot, and I mean a lot, of content that more or less makes him arrogant for the sake of humbling him or making him look comically inept. There's a lot of "he gets his ass kicked and gets seduced by Gilbert."
From a historical perspective, this has got to be coming from a lack of interest in Habsburg history or having only seen the several decades old view that the Habsburg empire was a backwards repressive state fated to fall apart. And that is not the view in any scholarship published in the last ten years or so with one notable exception that I can think of, which had to twist itself into knots to avoid its own contradictions.
And look, professional historians in other fields are regularly bad at discussing the Habsburg empire too. This isn't a fandom specific issue.
To really enjoy someone's take on Roderich, I need them to be taking seriously that he was a Great Power. The Catholic bulwark in the early modern period. The biggest power in Europe when he was married to Spain. The architect of the Concert of Europe. Someone with a rigid court structure and an unmatched sense of grandeur.
He may not be able to fight one-on-one particularly well, but be assured that he is a diplomat par excellence. I need him to be intelligent and witty and capable of negotiating his enemy into a corner when he needs to. He has a skill set that no one else can replicate as well as he can, and he uses it to his advantage. I enjoy PruAus most when it is clear that they respect each other for having the skills the other lacks.
In my opinion, he's at his best when he's using his charm and intelligence to work around his physical limitations. Sadly, the fandom has committed to "uptight and stuffy" in a way that would just not work with his actual track record of marrying his way out of problems.
And anything that makes him out to somehow be the one with less charm or sexual experience than Gilbert of all people is pretty much an immediate no for me. If he can't be forward and confident with his bedroom politics, I'm not that interested.
Also no one else ships him with Poland so it's just me in my corner, but ask me about that in a different ask if you want details.

some people are also saying that misha doesn’t even count as an ally anymore because he’s made jokes and because he’s “misled” the community. why are we just erasing all the good he’s done. why are we discrediting his work. i’m not saying some of the jokes and stuff aren’t uncool in retrospect, but i guarantee you he’s learning from this and probably will self-sterilize to some degree moving forward.
'misled the community' like ffs he never definitively, on the record, labeled himself. also, there are instances where jokes or comments clearly stem from something personal between him and the person he's making it with, sometimes, most of the times, with friends. and we don't know the whole story. ever. and we never will.
i also don't think his 'jokes' are bad in retrospect either. it's frustrating how we were fine with him so long as he remained unlabeled [he made queer comments, he's made straight comments in the past as well] because unlabeled meant we got to headcanon him into whatever sexuality we wanted him as.
i need people to really understand he was forced into labeling himself. yeah his comment of 'i'm all three' skirted too close to the sun but it was a second of time in a pool of the last 14 years of everything with him and he got punished for it -- and faced in that situation, straight became the statement.
but idk i think some people read 'straight' as 'i hate queer people' and anyone who calls themselves straight is public enemy #1.
he's always been validating us, making us feel safe to talk to him about this stuff, offering words of encouragement, learning from us, talking with us, encouraging us to make communities of our own and make new friends, help the world, participate in things and actively making a difference, fought for queer cas, acknowledged destiel in a way no one else could or did, was literally the only one able to talk about 1518 since it aired as much as he has, calls us inspirations for coming out and we tell him our stories, his ex-wife is queer, he's operated in queer spaces for fucking -- a lot longer probably than some of those criticising him have been alive tbh --
so i literally don't understand this.
i do not.
also it's a big ol' slap in the face to people you may know who privately consider themselves unlabeled or queer but publically have to be straight [not saying this happened with misha but it's a possibility still] and that now they can't make jokes or be in this community.
or people who identify as straight but aren't a 0 on that kinsey scale but just don't know where else to fall but they feel safe with the queer community.
there's 14 years of comments and jokes and maybe some have gone too far in the past, in the past, i don't know i can't remember everything he's said off the top of my head -- but the fact remains is misha is still himself. the only difference now is that he had to make a statement on the record or face more articles and more people picking into his life.
i feel like pushing him out of fandom and pushing him out of being himself and requiring him to be a bland, sterilized version of himself with us now is going to do litearlly no one any favors.
it's gatekeeping. it's horrifying. it's very sad, and it's unfair to a man who's already had some rough times his entire time while on SPN, especially now after, and especially after the events of this weekend. This happened TO HIM. and a man who has gone this long while being virtually unlabeled to us but was forced to make an on the record statement about it for the first time in 14 years -- and to punish him further?
like good god y'all maybe you weren't fans after all because that doesn't seem kind, welcoming, and safe at all. not only for him, but for others reading those comments and statements and going 'oh, right. i don't belong here. I'm not queer enough, nor am i publically out of the closet, or I'm still exploring, so i don't belong here.'
and that's the kind of environment i know misha wouldn't want to create for US so why would we want that for him

Thinkin' about how one (and I believe only one) of the FF7 Ultimanias lists an event as having taken place on February 30th, and instead of looking at this—along with the extreme contradictions and inconsistencies between the Ultimanias and the games, not to mention between the Ultimanias and each other—and saying "Hm. Perhaps the team behind this made some rather critical errors!" fandom instead went "This proves that FF7 doesn't use the Gregorian calendar!"
