This need to put a coin under a mast just won't let me go. It is originally a Roman custom, as the Greeks also did and put the coins under the pillars of a temple when it was built to hope for protection and luck. This is also what the coin under the mast is said to do. However, there is one thing that may also play a role. A silver coin was placed under the tongue or on the eyes of a dead person so that he could pay Charon, the ferryman of the underworld, for his passage. If a ship sank, it was hardly possible to give a coin to the dead and not everyone had a coin directly with them when this happened. What if this coin was not only a good luck charm but also a means of payment for Charon when this happened? it makes me so insane how Logan spent so much time in wolverine origins trying to "save" Akihiro but he did it in all the wrong ways, because he made it all about HIM and HIS pain and not Akihiro's. I don't think Logan realized at all the extent that Akihiro was abused by Romulus because to him, it was all about how HE PERSONALLY failed Akihiro, by getting his mom killed and leaving the body w/o checking to see if he had survived, and by never being there for him. So when he's trying to "save" Akihiro he's making it all about himself and not realizing what exactly he needs to be saved from. And like I think he does get on some level that Akihiro was wronged by Romulus, but only in a similar way that he was wronged by Romulus.

He got SO CLOSE when he pointed out that Akihiro "loved" Romulus, but he didn't understand exactly what it meant, that the "love" was the result of decades of conditioning, that Akihiro told Romulus Logan's "plans" that day because he didn't have any other choice.

And ultimately it would never have worked, because this wasn't the right time to "save" him, and not the right person to do it either. The only reason Akihiro was able to go down the path of redemption years later was because a) Romulus had been out of his life for a long enough time for him to realize what life was like without him, what he wanted without him, and b) Logan was dead, which led to him connecting with Laura, someone who has a VERY similar experience to him both with being raised and trained to be a weapon by an abuser, and having a really messed up relationship with Logan, and Laura helped show him that he Could change, along with showing him how to genuinely care for another person without strings attached.

It could've been so interesting, Logan coming back from the dead and seeing that Laura and Akihiro had connected and Akihiro was becoming a better person, that the daughter that HE had failed so terribly had "saved" the son he could never save, that he thought beyond redemption in the end. It could have been so good.

i wholeheartedly believe any suffering and pain he went through was dismissed as something that was just needed to be the chosen one. that the pain was good and it meant he was really training. he began to not care about it. any bruise, stab, beating, or other painful thing inflicted became numb to him. he was used to it, if not welcoming to it sometimes. it was worrying, but nobody saw it, because he wasn’t around others enough for them to help. he thought the pain was necessary, he didn’t know anything else. he was told it was good, and that the gods and the elders thanked him for it.

but it still hurt him. he was a child. he was forced into things he shouldn’t have been and as he got older he became less numb but instead too tired to care. he just got really, Really good at not showing it anymore. but deep down he still thinks it doesn’t matter if hes hurt and in pain, as long as hes fighting and doing what needs to be done. sometimes he still thinks he has to hurt for it to mean something.

The fact that there’s still one last character I’ve yet to reveal in terms of Duck Duck Goose… kinda fitting considering how I plan for them to be revealed in the actual story

Also fun fact. Duck Duck Goose’s plot and timeline has been being worked on for god who knows how long. I’m sure it’s expected that there’s plot to it but I’m actually 100+ pages into the SUMMARY. Frankly though that’s with some formatting on Google Docs for easier view + not simply summarized like there’s some detail in some parts but DDG’s plot has definitely been going crazy. Also want to thank everyone who’s helped me with the story <3 I couldn’t have made it the best version of itself without y’all <3

Why are there barriers ? so that they can simply be ignored... I don't understand and then I just have strangers standing in my crypt with the words "We just wanted to have a look". Damn it, when I want to see a living person I have a sign outside with the words "come in and say hello" and no barrier. explaining why lucas and will are in my top three is so easy. lucas is always given such human storylines within each season despite the show being so supernaturally based and it adds so much more depth to the show’s story and he’s just an incredibly kind person who’s torn between the many different facets of his wants. will is just objectively The Best Character. undeniably, inarguable the best character. the most resilient, caring, loving person who’s quite literally a light in the darkness for so many people and his choice of love is the key to ending henry’s war but it’s not just that simple. his storyline is so complex and compelling from the supernatural aspects to how he’s grown and how he’s refused to change as a person. literally the best.

but my favorite character is mike and if you asked me to explain why i would need to sit you down and spend five hours minimum explaining my complete and total fascination with his lack of perspective and the importance of that on a meta level regarding being the heart, the actual interpretation of his perspective, and generally who he is as a character and what his arcs actually. he’s compelling in the way everything about his character is set up to hide and deny and evade being seen but his breakdown is inevitable and it’s so, so cool to pick everything apart and narrow down exactly the things that pushed him to his breaking point over time. how much self destruction and emotional isolation can he take? what’s the final straw? how is he going to come back? and even then i’m only scraping the surface with my need to crawl inside his skin and live his life for a while, just to understand

The way that YJH is always looking at the sky looking for one specific star … the way he and all of kimcom can recognize that Star at a glance… the way they all probably searched for that star every day for years… especially the kids and YJH and HSY… the way once KDJ is finally back for good kimcom still all of them habitually look for his star in the sky.. even if they’re standing right next to him or just saw him moments ago… the way seeing his star right there, probably next to HSY and the other constellations they’ve come to care about finally brings them a sense of comfort..

when i see videos of like american conspiracy theorists talking about their stuff in response videos i just think about like. how small their world is that its easier to disregard logic as a non secular, non-right wing process. this isn’t me trying to like say how smart i am or whatever and the overall phenomenon is more exemplary of factors like racism and lack of education that makes people disregard practically all countries outside their own but like if you don’t have a worldview grounded in the fact that people who are still humans are living just as rich lives as you with just as rich histories you can really end up like that. i find it really hard to see eye to eye to those people, yet alone how to figure out how to talk to them in a way that would help them.
