maybe a weird question but ive been wondering this for a while and i kinda wanna hear ur opinion, would u still consider it hetbending if i headcanon natsume as a trans man and tsmg as a trans woman and ship them like this? cuz those are my hcs and sometimes i wonder if its like problematic?? i guess its sorta nuanced? i suppose by definition it would be considered hetbending, esp if one has an altered appearance to suit the assigned gender. but then theres also the headcanon aspect of it. since it is a headcanon that would make these genders be how you view the characters in their source, rather than altering them for ur own silly amusement

since these things are so nuanced i personally tend to tackle it from a portrayal point of view. Have i altered these characters to make one look like a man and the other a woman? if so, id say it should be tagged and considered as hetbend even if both or one party is trans and their sexualities are bisexual, because the point of tags such as "hetbend" or "genderbend" are so people who dont wish to see their favorite characters altered in these ways dont have to see it. these tags are used out of courtesy! Now, if you've taken the characters and headcanon one as a man and the other a woman but there have been no altercations and they look the exact same except for some pronouns and maybe some clothes change then id say it doesnt need the hetbend tag, as clothes do not have a gender and you can go by whichever pronouns you want while being a gender that said pronouns arent commonly applied to

Basically; if the appearances are altered it should be tagged accordingly out of care and consideration for those who dont wish to see that sort of thing for whatever reason. i dont get why people act like theres some morality thing at stake for tagging things like genderbend? trans or cis, the character looks different now which may be upsetting to some, so tag it!!! we're all just here to have fun!!!!

i also want to say enjoying or creating "hetbends" does not make you a bad person nor are you erasing queer rep, especially if you are keeping their queerness!! the original characters will remain the same no matter how much we may alter their gender and appearances in our niche circles, and there will always be a VAST majority of people representing the canon, so really theres no need to worry about wishing to indulge in the things that make you happy. none of us wish to hurt people with what we create!! and that is the REASON its tagged accordingly to begin with. I had a very cursed thought and I'm choosing violence and making it Tumblr's problem:

Bruce had his thing with Talia. It led to the Stabby Child that is Damian.

Except, Damian has 2 dads.

Bruce, biologically his Father, and Daniel James Phantom, brought to their world by the Lazarus Pit, who "convinced Ras to retire" (aka turned his mind to mush through Eldritch Madness of Revelation). Talia took over, and, thinking herself The Chosen One, allowed the guy to court her.

In fact she isn't some Chosen One. She's a badass woman who could kill Danny easily, and he's very into that. And it's not helping that she's very attractive, and her kid is very feral and like to fight, like baby ghosts also like to do.

Eventually the Bats get wind that there's been a Change in Management in the League, and they come to investigate. Bruce expects the worst, Tim is just praying Ras is dead and he can get his spleen back, Jason is mildly disturbed that it might mean Talia is leading the Assassins, and Dick is keeping Gotham safe while the others are out.

They expect a cruel dictatorship, or a mound of corpses piles in a corner.

They did NOT expect to see a tiny Damian fight a guy dressed in League armor, a Cape and a crown of black iron, who could've been Wayne Adoption Bait if he was younger, while the guy laughs and corrects his form. Every blow the child is allowed to land simply passes through him.

Talia got herself a very comfy throne (Danny gifted it to her, saying some cheesy line like "no other would be fit for a Queen like you") made of Starlight and Ice, from which she can watch her on and her Beloved bond and train, while her new and improved League watch on as their Prince takes joy in his training and the pride his parents have in him. Soon he shall move to Gotham to meet his other dad, and learn from him as well, so he may know his family and make his destiny as he wishes.

TLDR: Danny is a simp for strong deadly lady and a good dad to her kid. She's indulging in his attention and caring. The bats are confused. Jason can feel the Ghost Adoption that will be coming his way when Danny "Ghost King" Phantom learns of his existence. The League of Assassins, even while they kill people to maintain Wolrd Order, treat Talia, Danny and Damian like the spies in SpyxFamily act towards Loid and Anya :)

I go a little feral for Jason viewing Talia as his mom so I am 100% behind Danny adopting Jason. Maybe Tim follows him after learning what Danny did to Ras and let's him have his spleen back, tho only on the condition that his own doctors put it back in. Who knows what Ras has done to it and with ecto involved its better to be safe than sorry. Tim is amazed that they can put the spleen back in at all due to how long its been outside his body.

hi saw your daddy kink post discussing the phenomenon of giving grown characters surrogate parental relationships, and I understand where you’re coming from, but i really feel like it’s just a matter of the circles you run in, and the assumptions that you might make because of that. you mention how platonic reads of these dynamics are more uncommon than kinky reads, which i just don’t think is the case, and I think that arguing that people don’t even realize that they’re writing a kink is a little bit bizarre, and sort of assumes that you know more abt them than they do by projecting your own experiences onto them.

it isn’t inherently sexual to crave protection or a parental relationship that you may have missed out on, and it is certainly not universal. in my own family, my “grandpa” isnt my biological grandfather (nor do I really consider him to be my grandfather), but he’s my mother’s surrogate father and has been since she was in her twenties. an adult. he sees her as a daughter. she sees him as a father. there’s absolutely nothing kinky about it. and anybody who automatically assumes that must have their mind deep, deep in the gutter and/or the stranger side of the Internet. really, i find it a bit of a strange argument to randomly post in the first place—as if it’s a problem that so many people enjoy non romantic and non sexual relationships, and that these people must, in fact, have a daddy kink that they are unaware of.

that said, i do absolutely agree that fans bringing any part of that into phil’s chat is weird and they should Not do that, and that infantilizing characters is also very weird, and personally i dont even see him as being father figure to anybody on that island except his eggs, wilbur, and MAYBE an argument could be made for tubbo (which other cc’s on the island have joked about), but to each their own and all that.

I agree that it isn't inhernetly sexual to go after a parental relationship that you missed out on, and there are many such cases. I'll even go so far as to say that it's not inherently kinky to go after a parental relationship that you missed out on, because there is such a thing as non-sexual kink, and heaven knows that MCYT writing is full of non-sexual kink. Lots and lots of stuff that is platonic that is kinking on fear, or being drugged, or kidnapping, or hypnosis, or familial relationships, etc— there's lots of people who aren't doing that. There are tons of people out in the real world (and in fiction), who are simply just expanding their family as an adult, and that's awesome. When I was in college there was this older couple who kind of adopted me and invited me over for thursday dinner, and they were awesome. There was nothing untoward going on there.

But look. I am an emduo fan who likes to see my guys be murdery, and because of that, I've ended up reading a bunch of Dark SBI. I've ocassionally gone "this cannot be what everyone is doing" and I've read stuff tagged as "family fluff" that I find recommended. I am aware of where the genre is going, particularly with the rise of "dadbur" and "dadnoblade" interpretations.

And look, you have just got to trust me on this one. People are writing stuff that in any other fandom I would be recommending they put kink tags on the work so that people who liked that trope could find it and people who didn't like it would avoid it, but that comment in DSMP would just lead to people getting doxxed, so I just grit my teeth and go "i guess that's baked into Dark SBI or Tooth Rotting Fluff now, I sure hope that doesn't hit anybody's triggers".

Like I PROMISE you. The first draft of this response included excerpts of fics that I've read and I was like "can YOU pick the ship fic from the /p fics here"? But I have a horror of ever leading to someone getting cancelled on twitter, so nothing that could possibly be identifiable of these writers. But like—

Some of the ways that Tommy gets treated in the narrative are almost indistinguishable from a bodice-ripper romance. Some of the tropes being used— within DSMP we've all clasped hands and agreed to interpret it being platonic, but in any other fandom, you are going to start getting comments that you might not want to get. The tag is FULL of stuff that is DD/LB in everything but name. Maybe my mind is in the gutter here, but if you move out of this fandom, you are going to move into circles where a lot of people's minds are in the gutter, and you are going to get a very different response from your comments!

And I was talking about daddy kink here specifically, because I see that one come up a lot and it's gotten egregious lately, but this also applies to dehumanization, and fearplay, and predator/prey, and "instincts" (in every other fandom that's gonna get people in a mashup of A/B/O, Hypnosis, and sometimes Agere responding to it), and kidnapping/drugging, AND the way a bunch of "piglin instincts" stuff is just a BDSM au now where the Brute (dom) needs to be callmed down by their Runt (sub). The SBI tag is super kinky right now. And I don't have a problem with that idealogically, write your truth, but a) please don't bring that up in front of the streamers, b) if you move to another fandom you have got to be prepared that not everyone is doing their kink platonically.

Like I'm assuming that people don't know what tropes they're playing into, they're just building them from first principles, because the other alternative is that they are deliberately and knowingly writing kink and posting it in the & relationship tag with insufficient trigger tags, and I prefer to believe that people don't know.

I'm glad we agree about people bringing that into Phi's chat, or Pol's, or Luzu, or any of the other streamers that people have decided is So Old. A lot of people aren't comfortable even being assigned dad, as we saw with Felps, so bringing it even further is just— uh oh, no.

I do not have a problem with people liking non-romantic and non-sexual relationships. I find it a bit odd that much of the fandom can't concieve of a non-romantic and non-sexual relationship without making it familial and specifically lately father-son— don't you have close friends?— but I am fully in support of gen writing. I primarily write gen! I'm an avid commentor on gen fics!

But some of the tropes at play in the fandom are kinky, there is no way to avoid that. The fact that they are set in a familial relationship doesn't negate that. Some of the ways that the DSMP characters get treated would be distinctly non-familial if you ever brought it out of that context. And I am just warning people, if you bring it out of that context, be prepared for the response you get.

You cannot take DSMP tropes and apply them one-to-one in other fandoms, with other streamers swapped in, and expect them to be read the same way. Like i'm sorry, but that's just true. If you are posting the same sort of stuff that for Cellbit & Phil that you would post for Tommy & Phil, people will assume that you have a daddy kink, because usually when a relationship between a adults that are actually similar in age is refered to with paternal language it's a kink thing. That is how the broader internet works. (And anon, if I had a daddy kink, would I be complaining about the fact that I can open any SBI fic and have about a 40% chance of hitting it and I'm seeing signs of this appearing in QSMP? I assure you I'm not "projecting [my] own experiences onto them" here.)

I don't mean this to come off as conceited, I'm genuinely curious. In the case of the most recent 'Tang Dynasty style' video, and the 'Hanfu hair and make-up' one as another example.

I don't mean to ask you to speak for the content creators, or all Chinese, but might the choice to feature not conventionally attractive "model-type" models in those videos have been informed by the kind of body positivity that western culture had become a battleground for? Or would that be projecting a form of identity politics that doesn't translate as simply as that?

Are those kinds of issues/discussions something that chinese society makes time for, or are they not made so much of an issue of as in countries such as the USA for example.

Sorry again if the question is asked clumsily.

I don't really know that much (deeply) about the body positivity movement in either the U.S or how it may or may not influence any similar movement in China, so I can't opine as to what that has to do with the videos.

I will say that beauty ideals in the Tang dynasty favored fuller faces and bodies, reflecting a sense of richness in health and... well, wealth. You can see this in depictions from art:

From my perspective, this has translated into modern day where people continue to think that fatter girls wearing Tang dynasty styles just looks right/feels right. Though fat girls undoubtedly get criticised unfairly a lot for their size in the regular day (bodyshaming in Asian cultures is pretty rampant and normalised), when they wear Tang dynasty hanfu, typically they get complimented a lot (although yes, that includes backhanded compliments) and compared to art.

So I guess what I'm saying is fat girls may be drawn to wearing Tang dynasty hanfu because it's generally thought that the styles complement their figures, and audiences are more receptive/appreciative to fatness in this niche because it aligns with preconceived understandings/imaginations of Tang dynasty styles.

A second perspective is, hanfu enthusiasts like to say that hanfu/traditional clothing can make any "plain jane" look beautiful. It is a point of pride that everyone looks good in hanfu and a good way to get more people to wear or try hanfu (if that is goal of the hanfu revival movement) is to show that it can look good no matter the starting point.

And I think regarding the idea of the content creators' "choice to feature...", this is more so the reason behind it in most cases. For the hanfu looks video, if the makeup artist/hair stylist can demonstrate the success of their work across a diverse range of skin types, face shapes, etc, they can acquire more business from the average person searching to hire someone's services.

TLDR: With regards to Tang dynasty hanfu and plus size models/wearers, I think it has little to do with body positivity and more to do with it fitting a cultural/historical standard.

Got any good resources for clothing drawing tips?

Okay so quick little introduction before I try to answer this question. First of all, sorry for letting this languish in the inbox for so long. I have a lot I want to say about this and I'd really like to make a proper "tutorial" but this week took a lot out of me so what you're going to get are some visual notes on graph paper and some rambling thoughts. Maybe down the line I'll try to flesh this out more into a proper guide, but for now it is what it is.

Second- for many different art concepts I can give you some really great recommended reading for self-teaching. There's a whole section of my website with links to things that helped me learn. Clothing is one of those things where I never found a book or tutorial that really "clicked" with me. It's one of the few areas of art where I feel like it's fair to say I'm genuinely self-taught. So what you're going to get here is very much my opinion, not undisputed common wisdom or whatever. Take it with a grain of salt. This is how I draw, not the "right way" to draw.

Third- drawing clothes is not something fundamental like perspective or rendering where there are actual hard-and-fast "rules" you can learn to guide you. It's not even like anatomy where there are approaches that have been worked out and passed down by artists over generations. I think about drawing clothing as a synthesis of several different skills- a little bit of anatomy, a little bit of perspective, a little bit of rendering. Honestly a smidge of graphic design. You're employing a "cloud" of your artistic skills towards a specific end. What this means is that the TLDR of this post is going to be "do what you would normally do to improve at drawing but apply it to clothing." So don't expect something life-changing, instead just open your mind to maybe trying some new things you hadn't thought of before. Also this is going to be more about drawing than painting, that is more about "lines" than "shapes" but the two skills overlap and the same concepts should be broadly applicable. But my examples are going to be drawings.

Okay intro out of the way. Clothes are mostly just tubes of fabric, fabric wants to fall down. The human body and sometimes wind and water and other fluids will stop this fabric from falling down all at once and instead give it a shape. Keep this in mind. It's helpful to know how clothes are actually constructed if you want to know how they will deform when falling across the figure. Where a garment is simply a length of fabric, it's very flexible. It can bunch together or be stretched taught. This is most noticeable at the parts of the body that open and shut like hinges- knees, elbows, and armpits. The behavior of garments at these areas of the body is highly dynamic.

At seams where different sections of fabric are stitched together, movement can be come more limited. Seams are usually imperfect- pieces of fabric of slightly different lengths might be stitched together or fabric may shrink over time around a thread causing it to pucker and wrinkle. For these reasons, seams often act as the originating areas for folds and wrinkles, even when a garment is not in a particularly flexed/active state.

In a two-dimensional image, it can be helpful to describe a garment in terms of silhouette and wrinkles/folds. The silhouette is the actual boundary of the garment, where the fabric comes to an end. The wrinkles/folds are where different parts of the garment pass in front of each other or where the fabric becomes bunched up to the point that light can't reach inside and occlusion shadows form. You should always keep the overall silhouette of the garment in mind to inform the bigger shapes you draw, but you will use wrinkles and folds to demonstrate how the garment twists and deforms. These are the basic tools in your arsenal. Keep it simple.

There are lots of different ways to approach wrinkles. My advice and my personal preference is to draw wrinkles as shapes and not just lines. Specifically, tapered shapes (like triangles) and be really good both for implying motion and the varying depth of a fold/wrinkle. Experiment with different shapes of varying angularity, fill texture, etc. Your hands and eyes will guide you towards what looks and feels good. There's no right way but I would advise you to exaggerate! Ask yourself- what's the biggest shape I can draw here? How can I twist it to make it bigger, crazier but still describe the form in a way that makes sense? It can be exhausting to just try to perfectly copy a reference and also using your imagination like this when doing studies will help build up your visual library for when you're drawing/designing clothing from imagination. In general I would advise you to focus more on drawing something that looks good (ie is composed of shapes that you find aesthetically pleasant) than is "correct."

Quick recap: Garments fall down, you can simplify an article of clothing into a silhouette described by folds and wrinkles. What next? Observe! Take notes! It is worth your time to think about how common articles of clothing are constructed. Jeans, t-shirts, dresses, etc. I used to do some hobbyist sewing and clothing alteration and I think that hands-on work with clothes has really affected the way I think about drawing them. You don't have to go that far but like- look at the world around you. Stuck on the bus, in school, in a meeting, etc? Even if you can't draw, look at how your pants bunch up around your legs, look at the sleeves of someone sitting next to you. I mean, don't be weird about it, but these are valuable observations. Think about how you would draw those things! Really getting good at drawing clothes involves studying them in the wild, understanding how they work, building up your visual library. Look at a faded denim jacket- at the puckered places where the indigo has rubbed away or the permanent creases that hardly see the light of day and remain a deeper blue. Look at petrochemical techwear outfits that break into jagged, high-sheen triangular wrinkles. Soak it all in!

Save pictures of and take notes on outfits you like, designers you like, garments you like. Keep track of these things. Come back and study them over time. Have fun with it! I have folders and folders and folders of images of clothes that I come back to constantly. Over time and with lots of study you'll learn what you want to draw when you draw clothes and that's half the battle. You'll have images of buttons, pockets, belts, laces, fabrics, seams, dancing around in your head that you can deploy at will. It's delightful.

A little obsessed with the sexological implications from what Cas Lore(tm) I've gathered concerning him being especially into parts of Gortash that some might consider conventionally unattractive (chubby/fat, a lot of body hair, BO) since he himself is so incredibly vain and exercises such control over his own body in a way that DOES adhere to conventional beauty standards. It almost makes too much sense; it's arguably one of few things that has any kind of taboo still attached to it for him (if this mfer eats people in true durge fashion), and with Gortash he can safely enjoy it from a distance since it isn't actually happening to him and also has the added bonus of allowing him to feel superior (in a very petty manner, but still). Might be an odd thing to comment on, but I really do enjoy when a character's preferences mesh with/have a clear correlation to their internal psychology - especially if that character's relationship to and/or history with sex is important to understanding them. It makes them more interesting to me, so I just wanted to let you know I appreciate it.

The way Cas' whole life before this revolved around his beauty and looks to the extent that it's still the highest and only standard he upholds for himself almost religiously while not giving two fucks about any moral or ethical rules even for like... Nine Hell standards. I mean it's not even just the cannibalism and the murder with no regard for any life form but Cas also didn't have an ounce of loyalty or lawfulness left in him for anyone before Gortash. Like he basically played and encouraged his brother's own incestious desires towards him to keep him emotionally dependent just to then hurt and sell him out at the first opportunity where he wasn't needed anymore. On the mortal plane he then also kinda just slept around with whichever man threw himself at him as a way to almost hurt the world for how he was treated himself as an incubus. He often killed them but even if he didn't he always made sure that no other man would actually get to enjoy him ever again either. Sorry tldr but yeah it's just as you said it, Cas doesn't have any other taboo really besides his whole... vanity thing because it's how he always ends up putting himself as above all others.

Gortash to me is quite the opposite to this to me actually where he does not care about his appearance really aside from things that show his status (his clothes) because he can always warp the public opinion and manipulate people to do his will anyways, which idk, I always found interesting to think about in regards to this dynamic as well

anyways yeah this about Cas together with his destructive nature, the urge to be in control and superior but being able to take it back in this manner simply because of how important of a part appearances were in his life is exactly why Gortash has such a hold on him 2 me

i think its so funny when youre on the wrong side of the pjsk fandom before you get into it because you will see people talking about rui like hes trying to kill tsukasa and is literally making saw traps just to put that guy in them like a lab rat and is just absolutely evil and manipulative and then you actually read the stories and rui is just such a kind and caring guy that when tsukasa did get hurt by his machines [ON ACCIDENT] he straight up went welp. guess im never doing anything dangerous ever again and im a failure as a director and only got over it when tsukasa started screaming at him that he likes his crazy ideas and if he didnt want to do them he simply wouldnt. or when rui got hurt when tsukasa couldnt test the thing out and his thought was just "well im glad it wasnt tsukasa that got hurt :] it would really mess up the show if our star✩ was the injured one"

or you will see people talking about ena like shes the worst person ever and is just mean to everyone for fun and hates everyone with her whole being. and again. you read the stories and shes just a girl that struggles with her emotions. shes trying her best but she just never learned how to control her emotions and how to deal with them because she lives in a home where everyone feels somewhat hostile towards her, especially her father who she feels only wants to aggravate her on purpose because he never clearly communicates with her. you can see she is very kind and caring as well, especially visible with how she treats mizuki and their secret. yes shes mean at first but shes clearly trying to work on her issues and do better. her relationship with akito is very complicated but she clearly cares about him too, which is shown in the childhood flashback where she tells him that he should find something to do that he loves and stick to it, she encouraged him to not give up so easily on something if it feels right and he lives by those words to this day.

and akito is portrayed as an asshole, especially to ena, but he also clearly cares about her. hes not good at stating it but he clearly shows it with my favourite example being when ena was having something of a breakdown and was trashing her art supplies. akito walked in, agitated at the noise but as soon as he saw what she was doing he was clearly worried. he didnt want her giving up on her passion, just like ena didnt want him to give up on his. of course, ena in the emotional state she was in didnt listen, but akito knows her. his "you will regret this" mightve been taken as mean and something he said just to be annoying but it wasnt. he said that because he knows his sister and how much she wants to create, and she would definetly regret getting rid of all that stuff. he tried his best to calm her down in some way, to talk to her, to give her some time to think about this and if this is really something she wants to do or if her emotions are getting the best of her again.

i think about that moment at least 5 times a day because its such a nothing scene but it actually shows so much to me, as someone who was both ena and akito in similar situations. sorry i care a lot about the shinonome siblings they mean the world to me

tldr: rui isnt a manipulative ass he just has a hobby, ena isnt a bitch she just doesnt know how to deal with emotions properly and has trouble understanding how others feel, and akito isnt a shitling of a brother he actually tries his best

Yuuta canonically is said to make erasers as a hobby so we already know he spends his spare time doing things with his hands. And not just anything but kneading and shaping rubber, which is an interesting thing to enjoy spending your time doing. Like that would put strain on your hands, no?

I believe it’s probably for two reasons: one the kneading is a repetitive motion, allowing for a manual distraction from anxiety/restless thoughts. And two I think it links to what you said, that there’s joy in creation. I think when you’re a sorcerer there’s so much destruction and loss in that, and in Yuuta’s case it’s also pretty lonely as he goes on missions alone. And we also know from the fanbook that he dislikes spending time alone. So idk I feel like having a distracting sort of hobby is something that helps deal with being lonely/the feelings that come with… *gestures vaguely* all of that

There’s more aspects of him that I think lend to this too: he’s very disinterested in himself. I think that would lend to him gravitating towards things that are more… external? Idk how to word it. But subjects that are learned from a book, it’s more to advance your own knowledge right? But skills that require your hands, it’s more about learning how to shape the world around you and have a lasting effect on it somehow (changing clay into pottery, or welding metal into a shape, etc). I think someone who for so long had felt like they didn’t matter in the world would gravitate towards something where you can visually see the effects of your existence.

I also don’t think he would lend himself to subjects like stem or philosophy etc simply because he doesn’t care LOL. He doesn’t have very strong convictions or strong beliefs in any direction—he only values the people around them and I don’t think any kind of schools of thought would offer anything of interest to him that would lend to making it a subject he would want to specialize in. Creating something with his hands that others can then use seems to be more his alley in that he can make himself useful for those he cares about

And I think passing that into others as a teacher would be really satisfying to him, seeing how others can change and mould the world around them because of the things he taught them…

TLDR I think the effect he has on the world around him, brought by his own two hands, matters more to him than any type of academic subject so I don’t think he would gravitate to academic subjects at all

Theory: (Possibly) The real reason Spider-people glitch in different dimensions

This a VERY loose theory i originally wrote at 2:00 AM so feel free to correct me or add your own thoughts (also, the most convincing evidence for this theory is at the bottom of this post because I had to edit it, sorry)

It's been shown that one of the main problems with traveling between universes in the spider-verse is glitching and it's been said that the glitching is because of their atoms 'not agreeing' with being in a different universe, even in a universe that's so similar to their own, but i think i may know why the glitching is ACTUALLY happening? Just a interesting theory so it might be wrong but i HAD to share my thoughts.

To put it simply: (i think) the glitching is caused by the WAY that one arrives to another universe. Basically, from what i've seen, the inter-dimensional travel watch creates an unsafe passage to a different universe which causes the glitching due to the gateway being so unstable.

Now this may seem very far fetched but also consider that when doctor strange inter-dimensional travels in multiverse of madness the gateway opened was clean and wasn't glitching, with that HE didn't glitch at all either, what I think happened is the actual powers used (similar to the spot) helped adapt their DNA to the universe so it didn't freak out. So it might have something to do with more so 'natural' abilites rather than the tech that was used in ATSV.

The same thing is shown with the spot, HIS abilities are the thing that allows him to travel to different universes which prevents glitching.

Additionally, notice how in ITSV when the spider people (gwen, peter b. Etc) were being taken from their universe and thrown into earth 1610 the wormhole that brought them there had no surrounding barriers as if they were just floating through the spider verse. In ATSV when the portal is created by the watch there is a surrounding barrier tube thing creating a safER (not necessarily Safe but certainly safer) passage way leading to the specific universe they choose to go to, but these wormhole only let's them travel it doesn't make their DNA adapt better. And as i said doctor strange's ability to create gateways to other universes was more natural and not created by using technology, also safer which is likely the reason he didn't glitch is because the powers are compatible or something, where technology is not.

Also, something else to add to this is that the more unsafe the passage is, the more glitching there is when the portal is opened. Example is when peter b. Is sucked out of his apartment and the entire apartment is glitching heavily, vs the inter-dimensional travel watch's portal, and of course the spot's holes:

Even more to add, notice how the non-technological way of getting to another universe is much quicker, rather than going through a tunnel to another universe, instead it's a step away. Shown especially with how the spot can easily put his head through one of his holes and immediately be in another dimension. Same thing goes with the doctor strange method as seen in the video of him traveling through different universes.

I'd even say that if one of the spider-people were to go through the spot's holes to a different dimension than they might not glitch.

As i said this a very loose theory so there might be some holes in it, so i don't mind if y'all correct me.

TLDR: the watch used in atsv creates an unstable gateway to other dimensions which causes glitching, unlike 'natural' (by natural i mean non-technological powers or something similar that's compatible with one's body) powers like the spot who is never seen glitching like the spider-people and can travel dimensions faster.

edit (because i just realised something that ALMOST confirms this theory): If you still aren't convinced and think that it's only because of their atoms not agreeing with the universe they're in then the most damning evidence to exist for this theory that might change your mind has to be that if it really had something to so with their bodys, DNA, atoms whatever, then why isn't miles glitching constantly even though the spider bite he received THAT CHANGED his DNA was from a different universe? That means he has DNA from earth 42 and earth 1610, but he only glitches in earth 42 and not 1610 even though earth 42 spider WAS glitching in his earth and since he has that DNA he should ALSO be glitching in 1610.

If you were to apply my theory than the answer would be that in ITSV miles never went through any kind of portal that brought him to his earth, so his earth-42 DNA was never affected and likely adapted to the 1610 DNA or something. What makes this theory a bit 'scary' though is that, as I said, if you were to apply my theory that would mean that since the 42 DNA re-adapted when miles arrived in earth 42, and it was the 1610 DNA that was making him glitch, that means that if miles were to go through the inter-dimensional travel watch portal back to his world the earth 42 DNA will make him glitch in HIS OWN universe and the 1610 DNA will make him glitch in prowler miles' universe, so he would constantly be glitching since the 42 DNA couldn't adapt again like it did before since it already re-adapted to earth 42 while miles was there, and the 1610 DNA NEVER adapted to the earth 42 DNA to begin with.

And if you still don't understand than I can put another TLDR:

in ITSV Miles' 42 DNA adapted to 1610 since he never went through any kind of portal to a different universe at the time. His 42 DNA re-adapted to earth 42 at the end of ATSV and his 1610 DNA wigged out there since it could never adapt to earth 42, and could only be in 1610. Meaning (if my theory is true) unless he went through one of the spot's portals to get back home, he would constantly be glitching out because 42 DNA hates 1610, and 1610 DNA hates 42.

Make sense now?

I’m calling in regards to your step daughter, Natalie Stevens.” The woman on the line kept speaking and Wren was thankful she was simply on a phone call because the shock on her face would have given away the truth. “She was caught shoplifting this afternoon with her friends in my boutique.” “Oh.” Wren deadpanned before Celeste’s words really sunk in. “Oh!” Wren exclaimed, widening her eyes as she looked down to make sure she hadn’t woken Ivy with the near shout. “I…I am so sorry. She has never done anything like this and I assure you she will absolutely never do anything like this again.” She said in her firmest mom voice and it sounded foreign to her. Again, I am so sorry. Natalie and I both appreciate your merciful kindness.” “Have a good day, Wren.” The dismissal ended the call abruptly and she gaped at the phone in her hand. What the fuck? Natalie’s mother, stepfather, and Dylan were all more than capable of getting the girl whatever she wanted. On top of that she had lied. Wren wasn’t her stepmother, not even close, but she had played along, knowing the consequences of the lie would only make the stealing worse. Sighing, she tapped the phone screen and lifted the phone to her ear. Natalie answered on the first ring. “Please don’t be mad!!!” Her voice was thick, like she had just finished crying and may start again at any moment. hai!! im just curious on what your take is on c!ranboos enderwalk. thats a bit vague actually . like i mean what did you view it as? cus i know some people see it as morally grey, a different part of them entirely, etc. sorry if that doesnt make sense i just havent heard many people's opinion on it lol

ok this is a big and difficult question because ultimately we don’t have a conclusive answer in canon . so i’m gonna synthesize how i interpret what we do know.

i firmly believe that ranboo’s enderwalk state is, well, just ranboo. i think it’s a matter of what memories he has access to at a given point in time, how he acts on those memories, and it’s not nearly as black and white and ‘enderwalking’ and ‘not’.

there are things he knows, and doesn’t know that he knows, things he’s done that he doesn’t remember, and critically, he has relationships with people that he does not know about. it’s not as simple as enderwalking off-stream and not onstream, because we have examples of him acting on information he doesn’t usually have onstream and he has forgotten things he did while fully aware and not under duress (the shulker box deal with foolish, which he didn’t remember later when asked about it during the lessons stream).

it’s implied in some places that it’s a cyclical thing (in the arg, one of the pages refers to ‘the enderwalkers’ as ‘circadian’ (referring to circadian rhythms/sleep cycles)<-i think this is still sort of speculation but people tested it with the font layered over the crossed out section and it fit, arg also deals strongly with the clock motif, clock ticking and stopwatch as teasers for the arg, etc) though its also able to be triggered manually through strong emotions, pain, and fear. (splash water bottle, dream smile). Z claims uncertainly that it may be genetic, and their writings imply that ranboo isn't the only one though there's no suggestions as to where these other enderwalkers may be.

it oftentime feels like while he's enderwalking he has access to more memories--though it might simply be different memories. he for sure has access to more information about his past (eg. he remembers ender entirely sometimes, while most of the times we see him on screen he's in the process of relearning it, or is at least much more subtle about knowing it.) At times he acts on fully subconscious memories, like when he built the cobblestone end city over l'manhole without realizing exactly what it was or why.

what i think is most important to this understanding though, is that he is SO consistent in what he wants and believes. the things that change are who he knows and associates with, and what he remembers. but ultimately, he has the same goal. he just acts on it differently. people not sides, stopping conflict, being a mediator, ‘one happy family’. these ideas are something he consistently believes in all the time. it’s the context that changes, whether he’s working with dream on the community house, or with tommy and tubbo to kill dream, or wilbur and hitting on 16, he is willing to take extreme measures to pursue these goals.

IMPORTANT TO NOTE: i don’t believe the purple eyes enderwalk trope is strictly diegetic. we know for a fact that ranboo is visibly indistinguishable while enderwalking and not, as we have seen him ‘enderwalk’ on other people’s streams, and he has interacted with people ‘in’ and ‘out’ of the state without them recognizing any difference. (cphil, cfoolish, and cawesamdude as some notable examples)

TLDR: It's just Ranboo, with more, or different, or all of his memories.

Well fellow Callowmoores, it's almost 2024 and that will potentially be the year we see endgame of Campaign 3 - given how we've returned to the Bloody Bridge and likely intend to throw down on Ruidus and fight Predathos (somehow). Nevertheless, we're about halfway through our three week wait for another episode and since we're on the verge of intense and emotionally-charged battles ahead there'll probably be little time for romantic activity - little does not mean none, mind you - during it. Last time we had a wait like this I did a post on some underrated Callowmoore moments from the Shard Incident episodes, but since others have already wonderfully dissected the recent Feywild episodes' romantic moments I'm afraid I don't have much else to add to that. I do, however, have a bunch of mental scenarios that didn't come to be, or have yet to come to be in different contexts to how I previously thought them up. So I thought; it's the new year, why not indulge the artists and fanfic writers who can do a better job than I can with it?

So if you like some of these things, treat it as a free prompt; draw, write, flourish however you see fit, and have a Happy New Year!

If you kept reading after that awesome, I was a little worried the main thing would be a tldr situation, and still could be I didn't expect the bullets to be as long...they were actually even longer at first so not sorry but also sorry? I guess. But anyway, we know what you're here for so let's go.

Note: The scenarios were devised to keep me from suffering crippling doubt and mental shutdown between episodes so mostly they'll be fluffy and comfort-oriented than angsty.

As mentioned before, Fearne pickpocketing the Ashton doll Laudna made to practice talking to Ashton, building up to it or luring Ashton over. Ashton's awareness of the pickpocketing can grow too or they could simply allow it from the get-go "I let her take whatever she wants."

Dancing, low-hanging fruit maybe but always good for chaos, awkwardness, wingman activity, and high energy, but I'm talking folk dancing like in Titanic not ballroom dancing, that's not their or the Feywild's style

"I'll be the judge of that." specifically for when Ashton feels they're unlovable or doesn't deserve to be loved. There's also "Then I guess I'm crazy." and "You've always deserved it."

Pickpocketing one another has been their game, but I can't deny that the thought of Ashton making something for Fearne was highly appealing too, I had them make a bracelet from melted down jewelry and gems they had on them (plus a compartment with an Oleander seed and some water from the Feywild in it), imperfectly made but sturdy and still pretty. Bonus for Ashton reverse pickpocketing it onto her.

"You've always been perfect to me" is another one I mentioned before, I usually have Ashton say it (and sometimes post-Fearne taking the shard reiterate that Fearne keeps becoming more perfect in their eyes) but it can go either way.

Sleeping beside each other's a common one. Not even sexually, often it's for comfort, soothing pain/nightmares or reassuring each other, and - if Fearne hasn't disappeared beforehand leaving Ashton waking up feeling a comforting presence missing - usually not wanting to get out of bed the following morning.

Similar to the above is short rests in close quarters, a specific one is Ashton using their primordial earth powers to pull up a discrete wall for the group to hide behind and rest a little, melding into the actual wall to offer a polymorphed Fearne (a small fire lizard usually, sticking on Orym and Ashton's heads) more space so she can rest too, albeit very snugly and pressed against them - easy opening for kisses under the jawline btw.

Metaphorical but Ashton's reassurance of "You could never hurt me" regarding Fearne's primordial fire was used a bit, plus it aligns with the recent "I'll take my fire damage now" when they hugged Fearne.

Fearne being open to Ashton about her fears of being the dark version of herself, bonus quote "I don't know that person, she's not you, never will be, you're better."

Fearne pulling the Uno Reverse "The shard hurt, but knowing you were there made it hurt much less." and/or "Thank you for saving me."

Also similar to the one above are conversations post-Fearne taking the shard exploring newfound empathy for each other's (albeit more extreme) positions at Whitestone; Fearne experiencing the intensity of the shard's fire, and Ashton experiencing the dread of seeing Fearne in pain from it and being afraid to lose her.

"Whatever happens, promise you'll come back to me" is a pertinent one for the current setting too.

What is that? 1, 2...12! One for each month, there's of course more, some are simple low-hanging fruit or more detailed (no seriously I trimmed a lot of these bullet points down in detail) but for the sake of length we'll stop here. Once again, Happy New Year my fellow Critters and Callowmoores!

It's a tool to help enhance the already existing classification system, adding pictures and colors to each classification, as well as a danger and distribution class. It's used in a lot of the newer SCP files, so you've probably already seen it around! A lot of the SCPs didn't have pictures and I didn't want to use fanart without permission, so I scanned through their article and made them an ACS icon by what I felt was closest.

TLDR; Staff shouldn't keep in mind those who breed right off the bat to try and profit because that is not what game devs do, its not because I just don't think they should. If you want to gene dragons day one use the methods you can to limit the chance of using a glitched gene and take responsibility for your choice of wanting to gene a dragon day one and not push it onto staff. Items being bought with IRL currency are not somehow magically immune to ever having bugs. There is most likely QA, staff is just being held to unrealistic expectations here.

[Actual Start of The Essay, yes I know its long I'm sorry]

It shouldn't be considered by staff because staff's main concern is getting the product out. Its not simply a "I don't think staff should consider it" its "considering a population of users that profit off a byproduct of how we release things is not what we should be doing" nor should they be expected to. Staff's priority is "try and make sure we can do what we can before the breed is launched" and "try and fix everything that is broken after launch" that is just how games run. Its just what happens and they have no reason to concern themselves with it. Its not a "fuck you" its a "this is a huge update and bugs will happen." You are reading malice or intentional neglect where we have no evidence of it.

If you don’t want to wait because you want profit that is on you. That is your choice you are making to ignore the system staff has in place to keep us informed of what things are bugged because inevitably there will be stuff bugged. You can still do it, I am not saying it’s wrong nor does there being bugs mean staff is targeting you specifically, it’s just a choice you are making and you have to accept the risks. That is something you need to accept you’re responsible for, not staff, because staff is already doing their part. If you think that’s too much risk, then I suggest finding some other way to make money, if it still sounds appealing to you, here’s some ways to avoid accidentally using bugged genes (I am more so using the 'general you', not towards any specific individual, here);

Compare new genes between each pose and see if they’re all consistent with each other. Compare old gene accent colors to new gene accent colors and be suspicious if you can't find any that match up, either are too drab, or are too bright. Always be cautious of extremely dark genes (there is a reason people where immediately asking if pharaoh / sarcophagus was an error). This isn't full proof but it helps reduce the chances getting glitched genes because again, you kinda just gotta accept the chance your dragons will change.

There being items you can buy with IRL currency does not suddenly lift the veil of potential bugs. If I buy a game or DLC or whatever and there's a few bugs in it, I don't go "Oh how is there not any basic quality control in this game?!" (I mean, unless its like really bad or they're very prevalent, there is a point obviously where you can start questioning their QA) Instead, I report it. No matter how many times you say, "These are premium items, there shouldn't be any bugs!" that does not stop unintended results from happening because they are unintended, unplanned for, that slip through the cracks results. This happens no matter how much QA you have because big updates are like that (and even small ones have some wiggle through!). Yeah, they shouldn't be there, and yeah, you can be a bit annoyed, but they're going to be there. These bugs do not warrant a "there's no basic QA in this game!" to me.

Also "paywalled"? Okay trying not to be too dismissive here but....really? Skins are no more paywalled then genes and that's to say they aren't. Sure some can be pretty expensive (which is their right to be) but not all of them will be (the average / go to price is 850g...that is not much in the grand scheme of things). Flight Rising is known for being very free to play friendly (even if you can't coli, yeah, they're not as efficient but that's comparing them to The ColiTM) and tons of people make skins for new breeds.

So, lets talk about some body modifications Soundwave had in aligned universe and dive into a theory I have on the topic.

You know, through the aligned continuity we saw many interesting frame changes. In fact, no one escaped even the slightest tranformation (this pun sounded funnier in my head). Anyway, today we are talking about Soundwave's modifications and why I think nothing is that simple in that departament.

TLDR: Soundwave changed his body to conceal his senator identity. And he did it with the help from Shockwave.

Well, first of all let establish about what difference we are going to talk about.

This one!

So, this is not a subtle change, Soundwave looks entierly reworked to the point of being unrecognizible. And while it might be just a style issue, since both of those photos were taken from the different books of the same universe (the first one is a Covernant of Primus and the second one is Transformers Prime Artbook), I want to dive in a bit deeper on why such change is actually plot motivated.

As we know, Soundwave was a council member or a senator on Cybertron and worked there for a really long time. And since he was a politician, his face and other features were undeniebly recongnizible. So it makes scenes to change his appearence ones he left the council. Especially considering that he was going to work in Kaon, city whose citizens were radically against the government because of the suffering that it caused them to live through. It would be just not safe for Soundwave to just randomly show up there and work.

Logical question number one is: "Why he didn't change his name?". The answer is: names have a special meaning to cybertronians, since it is something, other then their original frame, that is given to one person from birth. Every Cybertronian till a certain historical age had a name given to them by the AllSpark, so, of course, changing it is a big step for every one of them. Besides, based on this answer by one of the creator of RID15:

Some Cybertronians have the same names. And considering that typically members of the lowest casts were picking names for themselves, no one would suspect a thing. I mean, of course, it is weird to have a name of one of your enemies, but you can still come up with a good reason for it (like, I names myself Soundwave to humiliate a senator's precious name ahahahah).

And at this point you will tell me: "Blush, wasn't Soundwave in his original form in the games?"

Games are ignored in this post, simply because they are the most contradictory piece of media in aligned. So let's pretend we haven't seen them.

The last thing is How he have changed so much?

And this one is purely theoretical, so there will not be much facts happening. But I think that Soundwave got the aid to achive a new form by Shockwave.

We know that frame-changing technology was made by decepticon scientists, and Shockwave is one of those geniuses that got this thing developed. So if now decepticons can take any alt-form they like, what stops them from being remade entierly. Soundwave knew Shockwave long before he came into the pits of Kaon, so what stops them from cooperating at some point?

Here is some "evidence" I have to back this up.

First of all, they have similarities to their designs.

Lets start from the top: pointy antennas on the helmet, no visible face, purple highly visible biolights places all over the frame (granted, Soundwave had them before, but they look more like Shockwave's later on) etc.

Second of all: cables used for cartical-psychic patch look pretty similar to Soundwave's cables, at least the ones on the Nemesis.

There is no mention of Sounds having cables before leaving the council, so we can assume they were given to him later. As we know, it is highly uncommon for cybertronians to download information directly to their brains, because it can literally kill them. Maybe Soundwave wasn't aware of his abilities (ability to download and do anything with the data in his processor without getting harmed) before Shokwave has started his renovations, so he proposed to add cables as a useful part of his frame.

For the final part, WHAT IS SHOCKAWAVE'S MOTIVATION. And it is super simple: curiosity. Shockwave is all for experiments that are going to bring him new knowledge and Soundwave became one of them. Knowledge in exchange for possiblity to have a completely new body - is a fair trade at the desperate times, so there is nothing impossible to it. Besides, even Alpha Trion tells us that the only passion Shokwave has is knowladge, so he is willing to do anything for it.

What was Rose's original job?

I will happily answer your question, anon. But, first, some context:

I've talked about it before (and will link some asks/posts if I can find them: here) but this game is based on a Monster of the Week campaign I played in. While I've made many changes along the way (with permission from those players and the GM) most of these characters started as characters from that campaign. So...

Rose was originally a detective and Adam/Eve's partner.

You can read how that would have worked and why I made the change below. TLDR:

Rose == Good, The Police =\= Good, therefore Rose =\= The Police

So Rose was originally A/E's partner because the MotW character he's based on was A/E's partner. In this game, Zorlok wouldn't have found this out for a while because (before the start of the story) Rose was attacked by a "mountain lion" (aka, a monster) and on medical leave. Over the first two or three episodes, Z could get to know and even start dating Rose while separately establishing their rivalry/potentially antagonistic relationship with A/E. Eventually, they would show up at a crime scene and—what?—Rose is there with A/E investigating something Z was either connected to or responsible for. (The scandal.)

I loved the idea of that reveal and the tension it could add to several character dynamics, but the more I developed Rose as my own character, the less it made sense. The person I saw him as and wanted him to be would never choose to be a cop (and it was always planned for him to leave the force at some point).

Also, most importantly, fuck cops. The original character he was based on was a cop, sure, but that never sat well with me. Not in this context, not with the themes I want to explore and the things I fundamentally believe. To put it simply, I wasn't willing to have another ro/main character with connections to the police department.

I'm very happy with my decision. I do regret the loss of that added dynamic, but (spoiler alert!) I've managed to hold onto some elements of it...

It's been hard for me over the years to allow myself to deviate significantly from that original MotW game, but I've grown more comfortable with doing so and (honestly) there's only a vague resemblance at this point. I've always had permission and support to change things and make these characters my own. I love that original game I played with my friends and have all the respect in the world for their characters and the story we told.

But this game is different from that one. It's a separate entity, a beast of its own. These are my characters, this is my story, and I love them.
