Dean:

when he sees you, his world stops spinning. He knows it’s you. your hair, your eyes, your lips. the same ones he remembered kissing so many times. it’s you, and dean knows it. but it can’t be. how could you be back.

he’s so zoned out that he dosent realize you’re now standing right in front of him.

“hey.” you smile

and god, that smile. the one he never got to see again - it was almost enough for him to break down right then and there. but he had to talk to you.

“h-hey.” he said, his voice barely audible.

“you okay?” you asked him, looking into his eyes and seeing the anxiety and distress.

he was quiet for a moment.

“uh… weird day.” he said shakily.

you frowned and moved closer, embracing him.

your scent. your body. your face tucked into his shoulder. he got to hold you again. he got to see you. it’s you. he can’t hold back the tears. soft sobs come from his mouth as he holds you against him.

“i’m sorry.” he whispered.

“hey it’s okay. don’t apologize. it’s okay to cry.” you whisper back, rubbing his arms.

but that’s not why he was apologizing. he was sorry he let you down. he was so so so sorry that it was you and not him that had to go.

he shook, his grip tightening on your clothes.

“i miss you.” he uttered.

“aw. you do?”

“so much.”

but then you’re called to set, to observe a scene. and he has to let you go for the second time. he has to say goodbye.

Sam:

sam dosent move a muscle when he sees you. he just looks. admires. he sees you laughing with one of the directors and he knows it’s you.

He walks the other way. even though he knows how badly he wants to talk to you, hear you, feel you again, it would just hurt him more. he watches you from a distance, smiling when you smile.

you’re full of life again. the same shine in your eyes, the same excitement in your voice… the same y/n. but he knows it’s not you. he knows he can never have you.

Before you leave set for the night, Sam calls you over.

“hey… can i talk to you?” he asks you, choking back tears.

“yeah of course! what’s up?” the same smile he always loved.

“i just… i miss you.” he whispers.

you give him a look.

“miss me?” you ask with a smile. “you see me every day.”

if only, he thought.

“yeah, i know. it uh… it just feels more than that.” he said, eyes studying your face.

he pulls you into a hug.

“i’ve just been having a hard time.” and it wasn’t a lie. losing you in his world was life altering. and now, seeing you but not.. you, just made all the pain come back.

“i’m sorry jared.” a sting of pain goes through him. he couldn’t even hear you say ‘Sammy’ for a last time.

“i’m here for you. always will be.” another sting of pain rushes through him, because you won’t be. as soon as he goes back, he’ll have to learn to live without you again.

you pull away, smiling.

“i’m gonna go home. i’m exhausted. text me if ya need me.” you smiled, letting go of him and walking out.

he just watches, silent tears falling again.

Castiel:

Castiel goes into shock. why would the angels bring you back? which angel did it? it wasn’t him.. he couldn’t have even if he had the chance.

he watches you from a distance. is this a dream? where was he? how are you back?

he watches you talk to another woman with curious eyes. he can feel the pang in his heart overflow and he knows he wants to talk to you. but if he does.. will this be all a dream? will he awake from this obvious hallucination?

he walks over to you, slowly and timidly.

you look at him and he finds himself looking at your lips. the same smile lines he remembered, the same soft freckles that were only visible if you looked close.

it was you.

he walked faster, engulfing your body in a hug. neither of you spoke as he felt your body in his arms again.

“you okay?” your voice breaks him out of his trance.

“yes..yes i’m fine.” he says, pulling away and studying your face again. his hand reached up and cupped your cheeks in both of his warm palms.

you put your hands over his.

he feels the familiar feeling of you again. god.. he couldn’t let you go.

“are you sure?” you ask him softly.

he nods.

“are… are you okay?” he asks you, choking down some tears.

“yeah. i’m okay.” you smile.

even though he knows it’s not you, it fills him with a sense of peace. you, in this universe at least, are okay.

“i…i am missing you. at home.” he whispers again.

and even though you have no clue what he’s talking about, you hug him again, rubbing his back as he lets the tears fall.

he has to start from square one all over again. leaving you. getting over it.

Going on for (too long) about how X isn't a soft crybaby. Sorry.

The way people mischaracterize X as a character is so sad to me. There are a couple instances where he is vulnerable his feelings and suddenly everybody makes him out to be a crybaby who can't fight. I think his portrayal in X7 was really detrimental to many people's perception of his character; I believe it should have instead reinforced his humanity and strength, and I'm going to attempt to explain why.

For clarity, in X7, X chooses to opt out of fighting as he has had enough and needs a mental break from it all. From a gameplay perspective, this was made to make players put more emphasis on Axl, but I'm looking from a story angle here so please bear with me. I should also mention that the endings of some of the other MMX games also tell that X doesn't like to fight and wishes he didn't have to, but yet he always does anyways. That is really important to note since people seem to portray him as if he doesn't fight, but he quite literally always shoves his personal feelings aside in favour of helping others.

It is heavily implied that X feels extremely complex emotions compared to many of his peers, with Dr. Cain in MHX saying his tendency to worry makes him stronger than characters such as Sigma (I know MHX isn't considered canon to the main MMX games but I assume X's personality is remotely the same). MHX also shows that X was affiliated with many characters that went maverick.

Of course, X needing to fight the reploids he once called his own friends must put a lot of emotional turmoil on him. He is seeing those he was recently friends with become corrupt and is required by his job to kill or defeat them. It is likely very hard on X to have to face this. His worry is displayed even more in the ending of X4 where he discusses the possibility of him going maverick to Zero. Seeing his former colleagues change clearly resonates with him. Yet he always pushes his worries aside and destroys the mavericks.

By the time X7 occurs, X has been fighting for many, many years and has needed to destroy a lot of mavericks without much option. Anybody who has dealt with something really stressful understands that feeling of needing a break. A lot of people seen this as some sort of implication that X is weak and not really a fighter, while ignoring every other time X has ignored his feelings in favour of helping others. It is extremely understandable that he would need a break, and I wish it wouldn't dictate his whole character in the way a lot of people interpret him. It is a display of his human emotion, and shows that he isn't invincible. I think that it is good to show that even strong heros have weak moments and times where they need rest.

A lot of people seem to ignore what happens outside of this event. He still got up and fought despite his feelings. X continued to take down mavericks after his break. After the events of MMX, He fought in the elf wars for an entire century alone. He sacrificed his body to seal away the Mother Elf, leaving him to live out his life as a cyber elf. Even as a cyber elf he goes out of his way to help the Resistance in any capacity he can. Becoming a cyber elf was a perfect chance to escape and finally stop fighting, but he still chooses to go and help everyone he can.

Overall, X is not the crybaby, gentle, weak character so many people portray him as. He is a selfless fighter and incredibly strong. He has taken down so many people he once cared about for the sake of others. He continued to fight despite his outlook on the battles he needed to face. He is an extremely caring person who puts others before him at all costs. His emotions only show that he feels like any human would, and should not indicate how strong he is. The fact that he still fights despite what he deals with internally is actually pretty great and displays how much of a leader he is.

It’s a reference to a really old clip from a Taiwanese variety show where the host was describing how he went to a gay bar and it caught on fire and the owner fled while the T from the T-bar opposite them picked up an extinguisher and offered help

2) they’re not using the term in CN literally either (my take on a badly worded transliteration would be something like ‘who would be the ultimate handsome chivalrous top’ if you take off the first few layers of shitposting) that’s why none of them in the poll look like butches lol

Today it was announced that Studio ZA/UM's upper management has not only decided to let a third of its employees go but has subsequently canceled the majority of the projects the studio had been working on and let me tell you I… am not the least bit surprised and find the whole thing rather ironic. (rant incoming)

First and foremost, before anyone tries to twist my words I am not celebrating people losing their jobs, especially now that the UK is in a recession. No, what I am highlighting is the irony of it all. These employees, some of whom if you recall argued with fans that Robert Kurvitz's dismissal was all his fault and we were buying into the auteur theory for the last two years, are finding out they were not the exception after all and that upper management can and will do the same thing they did to Kurvitz and co once they've outlived their usefulness. We all knew this was going to happen sooner rather than later but it’s still devastating to know that so many people are going to be affected by the greed of these conmen. The other shoe has finally dropped, and these are the unfortunate repercussions.

Kompus's decision to lay off a third of the employees, some of which have been part of the studio since its inception, does not come as a surprise to anyone who has been paying attention. It's been more than obvious that it was a matter of time before they would drop the façade of a caring boss to reveal their true nature. These employees running to the press crying about their future redundancy is acknowledging a truth those looking in from the outside always knew; the investors are slowly squeezing the life out of the company and no one, not even the founding members of ZA/UM, are safe from being snuffed out by these money grabbing conmen because nothing is sacred to them. This goes beyond just another game studio letting swaths of developers go over the past year and a half because a) at the time of me writing this the studio has not released another game so firing everyone on project X7 seems a bit overkill when you can potentially transfer them to one of the two projects they’re confirmed to still be working on especially when the company is already so small, and b) this is a well-established pattern of morally bankrupt behaviors the investors engage in whenever they encounter anyone who will interfere with maximizing their gross income.

The irony of it all is that these people are now turning around and finally crying mismanagement when Kurvitz had warned them, even before he got fired (and multiple times after), that yes, the investor’s mismanagement is the reason things fell apart so quickly and only now are they seeing he had been right all along. If they truly believed the same wouldn't eventually befall them like it had with their former coworkers, then I'm sorry but that one’s on them to reconcile with. There is no reason for anyone to still be defending the studio at this point since, again, it's pretty clear the investors did this to maintain control over money rather than their excuse that they care about the well-being of their employees. It doesn't exactly take a brainiac to realize the investors have been lying this entire time about the reason why the studio has such a toxic work environment when the guy they accused of being the source of the toxicity has been gone for 3 years and yet the studio’s environment remains the same, ya know? The investors don't care, they never cared, and this is just the consequence of believing that they ever cared to begin with catching up to these people.

Robert Kurvitz was right, continues to be right, and will always be right about how scummy the investors are, and the sooner people acknowledge this the sooner it’ll take to put the IP rights back in the hands of its rightful owner.

pigtails (make 2) in orange: 1: sc x6 in mr [6] 2: (sc, inc) x3 [9] 3: (sc, inc, sc) x3 [12] 4-5: sc x12 [12] 6: (sc, dec) x4 [8]; stuff. 7: push hook through st 1 AND across to st 5, slst. this separates the end into 2 halve. continuing from st 2, do sc, hdc, sc. skip st 5+1 or slst into it again, & repeat the sc, hdc, sc for stitches 6-8. this should create 2 points at the end of the pigtail. cut the thread w/a tail. thread the tail into a needle, loop it around the dip between the two points and cinch tight to define them; pass the tail through the bottom (starting round) of the pigtail & use it to sew to the head (obv, main hairpiece needs to be sewn down first).

scrunchies (make 2) in yellow: ch 2, sc in 2nd ch from hook. ch 1 & pull tight. repeat this process 4 more times, so you have a string of 5 distinct bumps. cut with a tail. wrap 1 of these pieces around the base of each pigtail & sew tightly with the tail.

legs (make 2) in brown: 1: sc x6 in mr [6] 2: BLO sc x6 [6] change to white: 3: (sc, inc, sc) x2 [8] 4: sc x8 [8] change to light orange: 5: (sc x3, inc) x2 [10] 6: sc x10 [10] cut w/tail for sewing & fasten off. stuff lightly before sewing to body.

the face is embroidered. for the eyes, i used a black round of 6 sc as a base, but that ended up being pretty bulky, so you might want to just embroider directly without doing that.

A WILD YAOYAO APPEARED AND CHALLENGED FANS IN A DUEL

(highly fake lol or am I?)

In a recent event, Xiao Shunyao appeared in this outfit looking like a five course meal (*slurps*)

And Mr. Xiao's fans, without missing a beat whipped out the resemblance in their eyes XD

And suddenly a seemingly agitated (😆😆😆) a very against of his 'super saiyaan' resemblance Yaoyao appeared with screaming emojis XD and put it on blast in his own official account!

His post roughly translates to:

"Who did this! Show yourself, come on! :angry screaming emoji: x7"

Not only our dear Ah Fei posted it, he also kept up the 'angy big man' attitude in the comments where Fans clapped back maintaining the same vibe

First comment (user 无限不循环) roughly translates into : "hahahaha I can't tell who did but I can tell there is no difference"

To which our big bad rockstar replied with "I have all the informations : screaming emoji: x6"

Second comment (user 雨纷飞loveAD) roughly translates into : "I also wanna know who did this, they did a nice job hahahaha"

The star immediately raged with a challenge for a duel saying (rough tl) : "Come on for an one-on-one!" ('if you dare' being unsaid *AHEM)

Hi! I've been following you for a while and I hoped you could help with a knitting problem I have

I'm trying to make the Goya wristwarmers by Alexandra Brinck. The pattern says to cast on 58 stitches but later on when the leaf motif starts it seems like 2 more stitches are needed. At first I thought I kept messing up the stitch count (not unlikely at all) but now I don't know what I'm missing

So the pattern says to (k1tbl, p1)x6, k1tbl, k6, work 19 stitches with the leaf motif, k6, (k1tbl, p1)x7

Here's the chart

Now since there are a k2tog and a ssk wouldn't that be 21 stitches in total? If I add those two extra stitches I get a total of 60 around. Am I missing something?

I'm sorry for the random ask, you're one of the most active knitting blogs I follow and I hoped you or someone who follows you might be able to help

So looking at this: 'So the pattern says to (k1tbl, p1)x6, k1tbl, k6, work 19 stitches with the leaf motif, k6, (k1tbl, p1)x7'

Total = 58 stitches, with 19 for the leaf, but as you noted the leaf motif is 21 stitches wide, not 19

I havent read through the pattern myself so dont know if it's been tech edited or how much you trust the designer, but it could be a flub

Personally what I'd do would be

Step 1: is it a flub?

Check the gauge, does the pattern say what the circumference of the wristwarmer should be? 3.6sts/cm would mean that

58sts = 16.11cm

60sts = 16.67cm

Step 2: how many to cast on?

If the gauge tells you it should be 16.67cm, I'd change the '(k1tbl, p1)x6' to '(k1tbl, p1)x7' to have a total of 60sts

If it should be 16.11cm, it would be an easy fix. On either side of the leaf motif you have k6 with presumably nothing exciting going on (it doesnt look like they're involved in the thumb gusset), so you can change them to a pair of k5's instead (sacrifice one on either side to give to the leaf motif) and have 58sts total

(Alternatively, you can measure your hand and see what measurement's closest to what you want, then adjust the ribbing accordingly)

Step 3 (after taking a closer look at the chart and photo):

I straight up think the chart's wrong lol. I'm assuming you can have a better look than I can, but count the yarn overs in the photo! I can only see four increase rows per leaf! The chart says there are *five*. That would explain why the cast on would ask for 19 stitches - if there are only four yarn overs per leaf, you can cut out the 9th - 12th rows and you'll have a 19 stitch wide chart because the k2tog/ssk won't be there

Either way you go, you're definitely not counting wrong!

Journey Retold: The First Dungeons and Trials

Sorry for cutting the last entry a bit short, I ran out of time and space and then got busy with the next exam. But I have time now so let's pick up from where we left off!

After Pi took flight, the scene transitioned to a different airship flying through the air and landing in a fortress on a... space rock of some kindAt first I was very confused and thought for a second that it was the same ship my character had boarded… But it still was a nice transition.

From the airship came four figures dressed in metal garb, looking quite alien to the rest of the people we've seen so far. They also looked very "Star Wars" in addition to their own theme music, which is probably why I thought we were on a completely different planet now.

And who is that guy, Gaius van Baelsar? He sounds quite fami--

I didn't check his voice immediately after hearing it for the first time (I did do it near the end of ARR), I had my doubts about it since I am known for confusing voice actors a lot, but man, I did manage to hear the guy's voice right and he still sounds incredible after so many years since Rockman X7 came out. But if someone didn't know, he is also the Japanese voice of Solid Snake and Big Boss. I am just more familiar with his role as Red.

Anyways, we have an evil Empire trying to conquer Eorzea and who are quite ruthless to others. Most definitely they are our antagonists, at least for this expansion. Note taken.

After that scene, Pi finally arrives to one of the city-states Admiral Merlwyb had sent him to, the liveliest and the largest settlement of The Black Shroud -- Gridania. It's the least confusing city to traverse through by far which is a plus, but I wasn't too interested in it because it was looking like a normal fantasy forest village, but I still don't think it's bad, don't get me wrong, I just think Limsa and the next city we'll visit after that were more memorable.

Here we meet up with the Elder Seedseer, the local governor of sorts -- Kan-E-Senna, who I, for a moment, thought was a weird kind of Au Ra lady because of the horns, but it's actually a really rare subrace of hyurs that only lives here which I found interesting. She signed some documents after reminising about the days prior ot Calamity and what happened after (mostly latter) and Pi moved on to the other city-state on the list, the richest city of Thanalan -- Ul'dah.

Now, I really liked the whole look of Ul'dah. Its West Asian aesthetic and the way it's structured like a big palace with rich-looking buildings and bazaars around it was just so memorable and unique to me, and I absolutely loved looking around Ul'dah for the first time… even though it was the worst city for me so far in terms of actually exploring it because of the amount of layers it had. I was getting lost even more than I did in Limsa...... ;w;

We go talk to the guy here who isn't the ruler of the city-state but instead is the leader of the local Grand Company called "Immortal Flames" -- Raubahn Aldynn. He didn't talk to me much because everything has already been explained to Pi by Kan-E, so he quickly signed the papers and let me go.

OK, what did I do next, I genuenly don't remember, let me look at the fold--

Oh. I went to unlock a few dances instead of MSQ. That's hilarious.

But after that, I unlocked the first dungeon! I made sure to tell my friends about it because they wanted to take me through it so I wouldn't be afraid to do the next ones. I had to wait for one of them to come back from a raid they happened to be doing at the time though.

It was... fun! Although the fact that my friend was a level 90 tank who knew how to pull enemies quickly made me sweat because I was falling behind and doing shit damage due to my equipment being very low-level in comparison. But I was told to ask others to slow down in the next dungeons if I happened to have troubles catching up. However, I wasn't afraid anymore. I wasn't playing as Tank or Healer so I didn't need to take note of everything at the same time, I just needed to maximize my damage output and stay alive -- simple enough.

Next day, I did a few sidequests before proceeding to the next dungeon, this time in The Black Shroud... and I actually couldn't find the entrance to it for a while because I somehow missed the fact it was under the ground.

I also asked my friend how to do a character portrait (and by extension the Adventure Plate) and it took me nearly an hour to make, if not more, but this was the result:

The variation of this portrait is still on my Adventure Plate to this day actually. I think it just shows the character of Pi quite nicely (at least when he isn't out exploring the world).

After I came back from university (and I remember that because I actually wrote to my friend about finishing the portrait as I was going outside to catch a bus), I actually went to the second dungeon. And then to the third one. None of them gave me troubles fortunately.

At this point, according to the screenshots at least, I seemed to have drifted off into Arcanist questline for some reason. Either because I wanted to unlock Scholar and Summoner (and hitting a brick wall because of Sylth-management quest) or because its story was just more interesting than MSQ itself to me at the moment, or maybe even both. So yeah, I ended up picking the MSQ back only a few days after, on September 7th.

And also have a funny excerpt from a conversation we had in Discord before that point:

Me: Probably we won't be able to play together until Saturday, my University classes are held until 8PM for four days straight. The player of the self-proclaimed Emo Catboy: Das fine... miss 20 hours in THREE DAYS.

Me: You two are so fun to play with though... but do you have a problem with my progress?

The player of the self-proclaimed Emo Catboy: YOU ARE ALREADY LIKE A SIXTH OF THE WAY THROUGH THE FREE TRIAL. At the pace you are going, you'll outrun me when we hit StormBlood. Me: :D Skill issue.

(You are allowed to give me shit for this, Emo Catboy :) )

But I did have a problem of playing too much Final Fantasy XIV in a span of three days at that time, I won't deny that. I too had (and still have) a bit of a skill issue in this regard if you can say so.

OK, let's continue. So, some thugs attacked a defenseless woman because they thought she was stealing food, my little baby defeated them, and then Y'shtola showed up again and told Pi that it must be fate that they have been bumping into each other so often and that he does actually have a gift that her good friend also has. This gift is called "Echo" and it's the reason why we can look into other people's memories, along with a few other powers we will learn of later. The miqo'te woman also invited us to visit her organisation's headquarters in Waking Sands at the Vesper Bay. But before I actually visited the Scions of the Seventh Dawn (that's what the group was called), I made sure to unlock Glamour, which also allowed me to obtain a beret, which I dyed blue and proudly put on Pi's head. Now he could finally have his most recognizable design feature and stop wearing ugly wizard hats and mismatched robes. After that, his appearance remained largely unchanged until the start of the next expansion.

But let's go back to the story.

This is the receptionist at the Waking Sands. And I think I was more buffled with her unironically singing "Trololo" than her standing on a chair because she was too short to reach the table. But yeah, her name is Tataru. She lets my lalafell boy in after finding his name on the list and here we are finally introduced to the full cast of main protagonists.

(Sorry I actually never made a screenshot with them all in one frame...)

Their leader, a young woman by the name of Minfilia (voiced by Milla Maxwell of all people lmao) who also had Echo, told us that they have been working on protecting the peace on Eorzea after the Seventh Umbral Calamity (hence "Scions of the Seventh Dawn") and how they are searching for people that too have the gift of Echo because it helps with resisting the tempering of the primals, gods summoned by the beast tribes, which can brainwash people without such gift into serving them for the rest of their lives so there could be even more bloodshed. Minfilia politely asks if the lalafell boy of mine even wants to join the team, but of course he wants to save the world and be as cool as them so he answers with a nod. Now Pi too is a scion!

At this point, I had already formed a group of friends to get to the first trial as quickly as possible. And then something absolutely hilarious happened, which I unfortunately did not capture in a screenshot. So I was in a cutscene and all, and when I finished it, I saw a giant fucking level 50 lizard thing that my friends were fighting. I panicked, tried to run away while I heard one of my friends scream, and then this thing killed me in one hit, scoring me my first death in the game. Even though I was swearing and typing in caps in the part chat at that moment (couldn't use the mic), I was actually laughing my ass off. I don't think I could have had a moment like that in any single player game, or even if I was playing FFXIV alone because I think my friends accidentally got the monster too close to me, so it was another moment that made this game worth it for me.

But just a few cutscenes after that, Pi got taken into some cave with other people by the lizard beastfolk tribe, Amalj'aa, that wanted to summon their god -- Ifrit. This was the first trial, the first actual boss fight, and--

The player of the stern-looking Auri man: Jazz? Where are you? The player of the self-proclaimed Emo Catboy: ...Actually, yeah, where ARE you?

I opened the map, saw that the location was called "???" and that there was no way out of it, and then I was told that you can actually start duties through a menu -- no need to approach the entry points to dungeons or trials once you unlock them. That was a relief because I was afraid my party leader won't be able to register for this duty and I would have to do it with a bunch of randoms.

I am sorry, I didn't screenshot Ifrit either. But the cutscene that showed how summons happen, with the whole demon-ass flame monster emerging while this musical theme of approaching disaster played, it all was quite great! As for Ifrit himself, though... he didn't stay alive for long, all because of my friend's equipment again, I am pretty sure.

We stopped the primal, sending the lizard folk running, and, oh! Ifrit left a crystal behind! Great, now its ours and we are 2/6th of the way to... whatever would actually happen once we collect all 6 crystals.

Damn, I do write quite a lot here, don't I? And I didn't even mention all the things that happened along the way, I had to skip a few (such as Golden Saucer and Aesthetician guy) since the post was too big already and I was diverding attention from MSQ a bit too much. But I assure you, once we get over the middle part of ARR, my writing will end up being more focused on MSQ itself, just bear with me here :'D

-Ardyn does not take kindly to that and yeets Gandalf

-ace has to intervene before things Get Messy

-this results in a Thing where Gandalf and Eonwe show up later with a bunch of fucking Elves

In the past they might be but I still wronged all of you, I will not ask forgiveness but I am sorry.”

-Celegorm blinks. And then because he has no filter goes “Are we sure this is his fea?”

-Ace fucking bristles. His eyes shine for a moment before he manages to calm down.

-Celegorm: “Yeah okay this is him.”

-Ace wonders how he ever raised these children. Fuck.
