The Owl House is such a funny crazy ass show.
One of the main characters is only a 8-9 year old boy who finds out that he was adopted and that he was unintentionally lead to believe something he was not through childhood games. He later tries to find his dad by sending a message and goes to visit him but finds out that that in reality that person isn't his dad and he is in fact someone who celebrates the extinction of the race the main character belongs to. He learns that his whole species has been killed off and he may be the only one left, leaving him traumatized.
Then episodes later he releases a semi-god entity to save the Boiling Isles from extintion and becomes somewhat friends with this character too.
And the funny thing is that this main character looks like a stray chihuahua that someone found on a Saturday night while waiting in line to buy from a food truck.

What if I just made a series of posts asking people about whether batfam members would be the Soldier, the Poet, or the King?

Show Lestat is Lestat's father doing identity theft. Which will explain the age, the rage, and everything. Real Lestat is catching fishes with Gabe in Amazon.
Okay, Sam isn't that old! It's actually hilarious (painful) to me how much younger and more Lestat-like he looks behind-the-scenes.
Otherwise, yeah... I wish that were true.
Somewhat but not entirely related, I just need to park this thought somewhere and let it percolate: I haven't watched past Episode 5 so I'm probably late to the party, but seeing clips of the Train Conductor Scene had me flashing back to this gem Armand gives us on Lestat in QotD:
Armand, honey... is your version of Lestat really Samstat? Is this what you've been pining after? Also, how rude is it to talk about your crush to your current boyfriend? Armand, please.

For a test, I have decided to link a few themes I think would go good for sky characters n scenarios:
Alef/Resh theme
Tsadi and Resh divorce theme(Tsadi's perspective)
Abyss crew theme
Young Tsadi theme
Let me know if I should add more! (Over inbox or dms as to not "spoil" everyone else)

changes and trends in horror-genre films are linked to the anxieties of the culture in its time and place. Vampires are the manifestation of grappling with sexuality; aliens, of foreign influence. Horror from the Cold War is about apathy and annihilation; classic Japanese horror is characterised by “nature’s revenge”; psychological horror plays with anxieties that absorbed its audience, like pregnancy/abortion, mental illness, femininity. Some horror presses on the bruise of being trapped in a situation with upsetting tasks to complete, especially ones that compromise you as a person - reflecting the horrors and anxieties of capitalism etc etc etc. Cosmic horror is slightly out of fashion because our culture is more comfortable with, even wistful for, “the unknown.” Monster horror now has to be aware of itself, as a contingent of people now live in the freedom and comfort of saying “I would willingly, gladly, even preferentially fuck that monster.” But I don’t know much about films or genres: that ground has been covered by cleverer people.
I don’t actually like horror or movies. What interests me at the moment is how horror of the 2020s has an element of perception and paying attention.
Multiple movies in one year discussed monsters that killed you if you perceived them. There are monsters you can’t look at; monsters that kill you instantly if you get their attention. Monsters where you have to be silent, look down, hold still: pray that they pass over you. M Zombies have changed from a hand-waved virus that covers extras in splashy gore, to insidious spores. A disaster film is called Don’t Look Up, a horror film is called Nope. Even trashy nun horror sets up strange premises of keeping your eyes fixed on something as the devil GETS you.
No idea if this is anything. (I haven’t seen any of these things because, unfortunately, I hate them.) Someone who understands better than me could say something clever here, and I hope they do.
But the thing I’m thinking about is what this will look like to the future, as the Victorian sex vampires and Cold War anxieties look to us. I think they’ll have a little sympathy, but they probably won’t. You poor little prey animals, the kids will say, you were awfully afraid of facing up to things, weren’t you?

Just got this sweet print by @theshitpostcalligrapher framed! In a gold frame, of course. As is appropriate.
Now to wrap it up nice and wait for Christmas when my brother (who is obsessed with this joke) will finally behold its glory
