Devastated by this. Just a little longer, he begs. Even though his existence is a torment. Even though the will that holds him to life is barely his own anymore. He has long outlived his time but it's such a cruelty that now the only freedom for him is in death. I'm glad Sam didn't kill him but the whole scenario is awful.

When a mortal keeps a ring of power he does not gain more life, he continues, denied natural mortality as the fear of death is amplified and twisted into fear of separation, nothing matters anymore but the keeping, the continuing. In that miserable existence there is no peace, and at its end there is no graceful goodbye to life, there is only dust. Sudden, empty, and final.

It would take murder to spare him that. Or falling with the ring into the fire.

Bilbo let it go in time (did he feel anything when it was destroyed?) Frodo is freed of it now, though the toll it extracted for the separation was at very least a finger. It was too late for Gollum for the price to be anything other than it was, and that's brutal.

If you live long enough, death is no longer the enemy. What Sauron did to Gollum ensured that it would always be the enemy, to be feared and avoided for ever, once time and the ring had fashioned it into the only escape left. Evil.

Don't let his simple attire or young appearance fool you, for Albion is a powerful spirit who controls fog and mist to protect the sacred land of Avalon. He also assists King Oberon, ruler of the Fair Folk, and the Lady of the Lake, Nimue, as well by preventing unworthy/evil mortals from finding their domains...

Anyone caught in his mists can either suffer a number of terrible fates or find themselves exactly where they need to be through Albion's gentle guidance. Some are lost in it forever, tormented by visions of the things or people they desire always out of reach. Others find themselves in uncharted lands where there's no hope of returning to their homes ever again or in worse cases in the middle of enemy territory. And finally, if all else fails, they are trapped in an eternal slumber as their mortal bodies grow weaker and weaker until all their strength is gone.

As for those with good hearts and a noble spirit, Albion will help them find their way to the other side of the mist through visions/dreams/illusions, taking great care to make sure they don't get lost like so many others. Sometimes he'll even appear before them directly which is a great honor. Albion is a calm and serene being who does not harbor any resentment towards humans. In many cases, he pities them and tries to end things quickly if they are deemed a threat. Otherwise Ablion prefers to confuse any intruders and misdirect them so they end up right back where they started, eventually giving up on whatever venture led them to try to cross the barrier of fog and mist meant to keep such mortals away.

Albion was even there when Morgaine brought the dying King Arthur to Avalon where his body was laid to rest. And whenever he's not fulfilling his duties to uphold the barrier between the mortal realm and theirs, Albion enjoys traveling all over the world, observing its natural beauty. Sometimes, when he's feeling a bit playful he'll use his power to mess with wayward travelers in forests, near lakes, across open fields, or high up in the mountains but it's usually all in good faith so no one gets hurt. Not unless said traveler turns out to have some nefarious purpose for being there because then all bets are off.

Keep thinking about Trans-coded Mayuri.

Mayuri is a woman's name, it means Peahen (a female peacock) but his design mimics that of a male peacocks plumage, blue, bold, flashy etc. It gives the impression of him being AFAB and switching to masculine presentation.

Mayuri is also quite short for a man (5'8") but that would be tall/average for someone assigned female at birth.

And he has the ability to self modify on a whim, if Mayuri was AFAB and wanted to adjust his form/voice/etc, he'd be able to with ease.

How would you stretch "being born tranquil" into actual DA canon? I've always found that such a wild card thing included in DAL because presumably, you would get something like the templars making a literal newborn baby tranquil.

heh i was hoping someone would ask me about this. this will probably be a bit rambly because i havent tried explaining it in any depth before, so bear with me...

i completely agree that it makes no sense for eiton to literally be born tranquil, because tranquility is a process that is done to someone. but i also dont think he was made tranquil as a baby, nor do i think he was actually tranquil.

the doylist reading here is just that the DAL writers werent thinking too deeply about the lore, but that's not interesting so im gonna take the characters at their word instead.

my interpretation is that eiton was born without a connection to the fade, and i think it's reasonable that other characters would refer to that as tranquility because it's unheard of otherwise. especially considering his father was a templar, it would be an easy connection to make when he had no emotions, no dreams, etc.

while his mother, iselle, was pregnant with him, she helped kill a very powerful pride demon (it might be relevant that she dealt the final blow and/or that she used blood magic to do so). instead of being destroyed, the demon's soul shattered and embedded itself into five other beings. i dont know if it directly embedded itself into eiton, or if it was originally in iselle and moved into him when she died giving birth to him, but the result was the same.

im still trying to work out exactly how the events at the end of the game actually panned out (if there were five shards, that means there wasnt one in the emissary, so why was it leading the horde and directing the other vessels? i havent thought too deeply about it, so i'll have to do that sometime), but once the demon is nearly destroyed and eiton is the only remaining vessel, that part of its soul finally activates and he becomes an abomination. he says that if you kill him, he can bind the demon in the fade.

while this clearly wasnt the devs' intention because it wasnt known lore at the time, it makes sense that his 'tranquility' would be reversed when he was possessed. that could also be kinda reverse-engineered as the reason why an inert demon's soul might make him 'tranquil' in the first place; he was born with a very direct connection to the fade, but it was switched off until the demon actually manifested.

How long had it been since he last found food and water? Honestly, Baby Blue doesn't know. The days had blended together since the storm that separated him from his home and his kin, leaving him stranded and alone as he desperately tried to survive enough to find a way back to them. His route with no direction led him to a volcanic climate, a place free of the cold but seemingly had no water in sight.

Little did he know he had accidentally stumbled into 'enemy' territory, the birthplace of his ancestor's rival and opposite: The Red Eyes Black Dragon.

The tiny whelp pauses as he senses a presence approaching, the small of other dragons reaching his nostrils. Unfortunately for him, he knew right away it was not his family. That smell he could never forget, crystalized forever in his instinct. No, a stranger approached, and a powerful stranger at that. He needed to hide.

Nervous and frightened, he moves to take shelter in a nearby cave, hiding behind a volcanic rock and curling himself up using his tiny tail. He is hoping that the other won't notice his tiny presence or scent, lest he get smitten by another foe before he even gets the chance to get a glimpse of his family again.

"Please go away...Please go away..." Baby Blue thinks to himself as his weakened body shivers, being unable to do anything yet wait to see if fate would grant him a miracle. He's managed to survive this far on his own, but who knows if he will be so lucky again.

World Lore Lesson: Reincarnation & Soul/Spirit Selection and Placement

Okay World Lore Lesson One, Reincarnation. So Reincarnation in this universe is basically just like the regular Reincarnation belief except has a little twist to it. So when a pokémon or person dies, their soul/spirit basically turns into these light orbs that fly up towards the sky, and dissappear at a certain point. During that process whoever has died is going through an experience called Gateway. Gateway is when whomever has died, goes through like this Flashback series of the most emotional or special/important things in their life. So if whoever they were was not the kindest or truest person, they are able to see the error of their ways in an attempt to make them good rather than evil, so to say. Thats basically the end of the major first part of the Reincarnation cycle but the other part mainly has to do with the soul/spirit placement and selection.

So now onto World Lore Lesson Two, Spirit/Soul Selection & Placement. So here once that person/pokemon has gone through Gateway- Whoever this person/mon was is now in the center of Reverse. (I'm not gonna give to much bout it away cause it's gonna play later on in the story.) From there, the one known as the Selector/G.O.W.- Well... It determines sometimes if the deceased one is ready yet to go back to Earth. If they aren't ready they will stay in a different place (there's not really a name for it yet) that's like a waiting hotel if you'd wanna call it. If the deceased is ready though, the Selector will just basically summon a portal door back to Earth. This process is called Identified Placement. When the deceased goes through the portal- It's like the portal immediately decides what the soul/spirit's new purpose will be, what will they be, and where they shall end up. Like I've said before, if they weren't the kindest they'll probably become something crapy or end up somewhere bad. If the soul/spirit is still very intent with doing evil or bad, then they'll be send to a darker place of the Reverse World (Not Earth). If the soul/spirit is still kind of wanting to side with evil but is still just like in between, the portal might see that they can become good, and will give them, like the benefit of the doubt. Then if the soul/spirit was kind or really kind, the portal will place them somewhere where they can continue to be them, or be placed somewhere where they can see loved ones again. Sometimes though the portal can make the wrong call- and sometimes the soul/spirit will end of somewhere where they don't deserve- but... There'd nothing anyone can really do for them after that. After that is all up to them to make the most of their lives.

I just - it's long been a curiosity of mine about the great deal of minor/greater deities in Bleach that are really only implied at best and yet always seem to have such intrinsic connections to zanpakuto, and Ichigo really is the pinnacle of that. He really is the entirety of the nature v nurture debate - and how much of his personality has been affected by his spirits? How much are they their own people anymore? SPOILERS, but they USED to be fully realised people living (''''living'''') their own lives. Aizen didn't create shiro from nothing! Those were strangers souls! And now.... What? Were they all stripped away, leaving only the power that infected masaki? The mask, the identifier, is the same. Or are they all still there, just, Ichigo was automatically placed as the Soul In Charge when he was born?

Au where Ichigo grows up being able to hear the voices of the ones who White was made up of/ate. And maybe he doesn't realise until after mugetsu when they all go silent.

Anyway - hyorinmaru? The Isane line? Tosen? ICHIGO? Renji? The duel zanpakuto of kyoraku and shunsui? SPOILERS AGAIN, the literal zanpakuto diety hanging around up top forging them and his weird cave basement full of them. 'Zanpakuto are formed from the shinigamis soul over years' are you sure, though?
