For the past several months, there's only been a very slow trickle of posts/fics in the xmcu cherik tag. Let's try to breathe some life back into this incredible pairing!

Always on my Mind

Summary: Bakugou x GN!Reader soulmate au where soulmates are able to share thoughts but are censored/restrained prior to their meeting. Reader has always spoken to their soulmate and with their shared goal of getting into UA they hope to meet and truly fall in love.

"Mommy! Daddy! Look look look what I can do!"

a young child yelled eagerly running towards their parents in the kitchen only 4 years old today their quirk had finally manifested. In the palm of their left hand lay a single glass marble clear with a stripe of red raising their free hand they focus and slowly the marble lifts out of their hand. "Oh wow baby you have Gran's quirk we're so proud." Their mom says bending down to observe as the marble falls back into their palm.

"Yeah seems it skipped a generation that's so great honey," their dad adds setting down the support gear he was tinkering with. "Are you gonna be a hero like Gran and your mom?" He asks.

"Nope, I wanna be like you Daddy. I wanna make cool laser to help Mommy like you do." They proclaim happily. Mom turns a playful glare to dad who is quick to defend himself, "I don't make that many laser I promise." They all laugh as slowly time skips forward.

It had been only a year since then and everyday you made time to practice your quirk as much as your small body could handle learning from Gran how to use you telekinesis and the limits of it, unlike your Gran you could barely lift heavy things at all so that meant flying and levitating was off the table. But it was during one such time as you were making the tv remote fly that you heard thoughts in a voice that wasn't your own.

'this is so lame i didn't do anything wrong'

Eyes widening I run to find my Daddy and Gran in the living room Gran is watching her soaps half awake while Daddy is reading a magazine.

"I've gone crazy from using my quirk!!!" I cry tears welling in my eyes, "Hey woah sweetie what do you mean?" Daddy asks setting his magazine down on the coffee table and Gran jolts into focus turning down her shows volume.

'WHO THE HELL IS YELLING?'

"I hear a voice I'm crazy!" "Oh dear don't worry that's just your soulmate." Daddy explains patting my head a smile on his face from enjoying my torment. "Ha you two forget to tell them." Gran chortles turning up her soap now that she knows there's no danger present.

"Me and Mommy have been too busy to explain, but the voice you're hearing in your head is your soulmates. Or rather their thoughts." Daddy explains as he picks me up to sit in his lap, "So don't worry my dear because your soulmate is sorta like a best friend but more."

"Are you and Mommy soulmates?" I ask beginning to understand what Daddy was explaining. "Yes, in fact I just told her what happened and she's laughing" Daddy says having closed his eyes briefly as if willing the thought to Mommy. "Tell her its not nice to laugh at her own child!" "Ha ok I will sweetheart, why don't you go talk to your new soulmate?" Daddy says setting me down on my feet the whole time I was listening to the whispers of my soulmates thoughts to quiet to hear but present still.

"Ok." With that I return to my room and sit down at my desk where i had been practicing my quirk.

'Um, Hi my Daddy said you're my soulmate my names ---'

'huh? whatever you said i couldn't hear. whatever my mom said the same this is annoying.'

'I don't think this is annoying actually I'm excited! Its like having an imaginary friend that's all my own but you're real and just far away y'know!'

'i guess but i don't even know your name or nothing. plus what if you're some weirdo huh?'

'Well I could say the very same for you! Plus it's already too late I claim you as my friend and you cant change that so haha ha!'

'ha well fine then don't be annoying i'm gonna be an awesome hero some day so you can't get in my way'

'Well then I'll make all your gear like my Daddy does for my mom so you have to hang out with me!'

'fine, but only because i want friends that aren't weak losers like deku.'

With that promise me and my soulmate Soul as I had nicknamed him talked all the time, I learned about Deku or rather Izuku his childhood friend that was quirkless and scolded him for being such a meanie to Zuzu. Often forcing him to convey my words to Zuzu so that I could be friends with him too. He sometimes did the same especially when it came to the rowdy boys in my class, even though I can handle them myself! But slowly the years passed, both of us training our quirks and sharing small moments of our thoughts. We both learned how to block out one another when need be such as on tests where we wanted to focus.

"Try and keep up Deku." Katsuki shouts leading the shorter male towards the playground. Katsuki using the play structure to dull the sounds of his small explosions as he practices his quirk. Truthfully the only reason he brought the boy was at his soulmates request.

'You really gotta stop pretending you bring Zuzu along just for me Soul, we both know you like how he praises you for your quirk control.'

'whatever.'

"Ah sorry Kacchan, I was distracted." Izuku said sprinting to catch up quickly. "Oh I almost forgot to say hi to your soulmate."

"Whatever they say hi back, ugh Zuzu. Such a stupid nickname." Katsuki groans lighting his palms with tiny explosions. "Hurry up I need to practice before it gets dark and our mom's come looking for us."

"Right, sorry Kacchan, oh Gear you said you were practicing too today?" Izuku asks. He often made conversation through Katsuki rather to said boy which was often considered strange to others. As it's very uncommon for the bond to be used this way before soulmates meet.

'Yeah, I took apart Mom's straightener and Dad had to fix it haha.'

"Of course they did Deku neither of us are slackers after all, why are you asking such dumb questions?"

"Sorry I just, I have another question for you Gear." Izuku stops walking causing Katsuki to pauses too annoyed with the stopping.

Tears gather in the shorter males eyes, "D-do you think, that even though I'm quirkless I can be a hero?" He asks the tears now slowly falling as Katsuki's eyes widen.

'Soul don't say that you know you both have the same dream. So say exactly what I'm saying or gonna be super duper mad at you!'

"Deku- I mean Zuzu what they want to say to you is that the believe in you. Maybe not all quirkless people can become heros, I mean they have a quirk and they're not gonna be a hero but even still they think you can be a hero. I mean not as good as a one as me but whatever." Izuku smiles hugging Kacchan who begrudgingly lets it happen only because he knows its what his soulmate would want. And maybe he kinda sorta does wanna make them happy deep down even if he has to deal with crybaby Deku.

'Finally free!' I laugh along to my thoughts leaving the school for a final time. 'It all really flew by huh?'

'yeah next is ua for us' Soul every cocky replies remarking that he sees Deku leaving at the same time. 'Oh, I wanna say bye to Zuzu come one Soul.' He huffs but as always obliges me fake begrudgingly.

"Oh hey Kacchan. Did your soulmate wanna talk to me?" Izuku asks ever clever it's why I had forced Soul to let me be friend him, and like usual the name he calls Soul is blocked out.

"Of course they do, dunno why they always wanna talk to a useless nerd like you." Soul says 'hey be nice to Zuz!' I scold him making him grumble.

"Whatever, they just wanted to say bye and, ugh really? FINE, and Goodluck." Katsuki grumbles the last bit with an angry expression. "Ah I forgot they're also applying to U.a. with us-" "Not with US with me damn nerd." Katsuki cuts off Izuku with a glare. "But whatever you-- what fine I won't say the TRUTH. Anyways we gotta go bye nerd." With that Katsuki leaves Izuku waving over his shoulder.

'gonna take the shortcut, need to start my summer training quickly.'

'Yeah yeah, always busy Soul but be careful remember what your mom said about villains in the area.'

'i'd blow up and damn villain before it even touched me just wait!'

So Katsuki walked home taking the shifty alleyway just as he said unaware of the slime villain that hide from his sight only to strike now.

'FUCK'

'Soul? What's happening?!' Worry brewed in your chest sure it wasn't unusual for Soul to swear but, but not like this.

'GET THIS SHIT OFF ME! I-I CAN'T BREATHE!' With that I'm cut off from Soul. Blood thunders in my veins I can't hear Gran's soaps or Dad's tinkering I can't hear anything but my own thundering heart, I'm frozen in place fear coiling around me.

'I CAN'T LOSE HIM'

Even as my thoughts turn frantic there's nothing I can do helplessly waiting for anything. After way too long for comfort I get something from Soul 'I CAN'T BELIEVE--' its anger not at me but yet still it fills me with relief 'I was so worried!' But just as quickly I'm cut off though this time its different intentional this continues for days, slowly into months only getting glimpses of his thoughts when his barrier slips slightly. I always offer kind words of what I hope is comfort whenever I can.

Till finally it's the day of the entrance exams or rather the recommendation entrance exams, my Dad having given me one as a well know support item making and an alumni of U.A. I felt out of place around these would be heroes and rich kids but soon it's my turn to shine. I had brought in several small items to showcase my quirk and my own skills. A hair dryer and invention I was working on and the heaviest thing I could find that I could lift with my quirk.

"Ah, you have telekinesis like your grandmother on your mother's side, yet you're following in your dad's footsteps?" The Principle asks with a grin. "Correct sir, thought its the same as my Grans" I say slowly lifting the heaviest item and trying to not let the strain show on my face, "I am able to apply it to support items better." Now I raise the hair dryer into the air focusing on each individual part as slowly its separated into all of its small components hanging in mid air.

"Impressive don't you think Aizawa?" The Principle asks the man in a bright yellow sleeping bag. "So your quirk is more suited towards detail work?" Aizawa asks intrigue in his tired gaze.

'I've got them hook line and sinker now.' Despite the silence I try and involve Soul.

"Yes I can take a part any item so long as I can lift it with my telekinesis and just as quickly--" I snap my fingers and the hair dryer reassembles instantly, "I can reassemble it too." I finish a grin on my face. "As expected from your mother and father, you can expect your letter in the mail soon good job." With that the Principle dismisses me others seem shocked and intrigued as I can't help but grin taking my props with me.

'I did it Soul so you can't fail either!'

'you know i won't idiot.' Eyes widening at his response and I smile wide.

'Good to finally hear from you, I missed you y'know...'

'even though you're annoying i guess i missed you too. i just had a lot of shit to deal with but im back now for good so don't worry yeah.'

'Ok I trust you Soul so know you can trust me too with anything on your mind!'

'yeah yeah i know just don't mention it ok i'll tell you later.'

Walking home with glee I tell my Mom, Dad and Gran the news that I'm probably in already. Being congratulated and warned to not jinx it I slowly unwind getting ready for bed.

Laying look at the ceiling anxiously today was the day well more the morning of our first day. So anxious was practically an understatement I would maybe meet Soul today and yet here I lay frozen in bed.

'are you really that nervous?'

'Yes, I know we've both been working towards this for so so long but, I just...'

'get up. get ready and we won't plan it if we meet by chance today then we meet if we don't that's fine. so stop stressing gearhead our you'll be late.'

Smiling and feeling more confident I get ready for the day. I get well wishes from my family and a knowing look from my mom who leaves with me. We now take the same train to get to work and school.

"Are you excited?" She asks as we walk to the train station.

"Sorta school I know but this is new Soul said we can let our meeting be organic and we don't have to meet today." I explain.

"That's good me and your dad did that actually he was so nervous that it made my hands shake." My mom laughs smiling and no doubt receiving a scolding from my dad in her mind. "But it was good I scared him when I saw him."

"How did you know it was him?"

"Well dear I just knew it was something I knew like breathing and then I clung to him for a whole day straight." My mom finishes with a laugh a smile on her face as we approach the train station.

"Wow a whole day? You really are clingy Mom." I laugh.

"So you'll do fine kid alright."

With that me and my mom parted ways into different train cars so I could face my first day. The ride was uneventful making it to class about fifteen minutes early. I change into my school shoes and look for my class, passing by a rather loud classroom labeled 1-A, none the wiser of what lay inside. Assemblies and meeting classmates and teachers await me this Mei girl seems to be at my level as we chat with one another. Days continue on like that almost in a trance me and Soul still speak to one another in fleeting exchanges but I can tell there's something missing.

'i have a fieldtrip today.'

'Ooh, are you excited Soul? I haven't gone to one with UA yet so you'll have to tell me how it goes.'

'sure, sure. its just a boring search and rescue thing.'

'Still it sounds so exciting I just have normal classes then lab time today.'

'how's the invention coming along?'

'Good! I'm excited to begin testing today actually.'

'hopefully you don't blow it up again idiot.'

'HEY, that wasn't even my fault I shouldn't have let Mei tinker with my baby after all!'

'pfft whatever, i gotta head to class so we can go on this fieldtrip now. maybe i'll see you today...'

'Ha, maybe yeah.'

With that I start another day. Until we're being evacuated from campus due to a nearby villain attack at the place Soul just said he was going. Fear and panic fill my chest was something going to happen to him? Was he going to get hurt or even die before I even got the chance to meet him? Tears well in my eyes but I feel paralyzed stand in the classroom as people start getting their things and clearing out.

"Hey, are you with me now?" Mei asks shaking my shoulder.

"M-my soulmate's in that class..."

"Hey, its going to be ok Almight's on his way over and there was already two proheros there." She tries to reassure me as we both grab my things and leave the school. Mei takes me to a cafe hoping to calm me down a little.

"Pass me your phone I'm gonna text your parents ok?" Wordlessly I hand it over.

'hey, soulmate or whatever don't freak out ok... no matter what I'm going to fight to meet you ok? so just you fucking wait for me!'

☆ "Ah! Not again.." You spoke aloud to yourself in the Phantomhive Manor's garden, wiping off your clothing. The scrape on your knee would be visible to the Earl if he had seen you, not to mention your clumsiness that was unsuitable for a noble. You had merely tripped and fallen over a stone slightly out of it's place, but the cement was enough to make blood trickle from the open cut.

☆ You turned around to see a baffled Ciel, almost frozen in shock. "My apologies Earl Phantomhi-" your voice trailed off mid-sentence seeing the floral tattoos blooming on his knee, the same place where you had just sustained your injury. Wordlessly, he walked to you side and took your hand in his. "Let's get that looked at, shall we then?"

Alois

AU: You can see every color except the color of your soulmate’s eyes until you meet them.

☆ Walking around town was enjoyable on a lovely day like this one, but it'd be far more lovely if you could see the blue hues of the sky above you along the little things you pass by. A sigh fell from your lips, wondering if you would ever meet this blue-eyed one that was meant to be your soulmate. In that instant, you bumped into someone walking next to you who seemed to be headed in the same direction.

☆ You turned to apologize, but instead your entire body froze as his gorgeous icy eyes were brought to life, lighting up with a color you'd never quite been able to make out before. The blonde had a similar shocked expression as yours, before letting a smirk play it's way onto his lips. "Well it certainly is a pleasure finally getting to meet you, love."

The image you had seen seemed to be an up-close of your soulmate having a conversation with a woman wearing a black cleavage top, how prosthetic hand outstretched in hers.

Your eyes met his during the show, you were seated in the mid-section but you could still tell from that look in his eyes that he was thinking the exact same thing.

Not just that he was under educated and had sloppy penmanship, but the both of you would often exchange the events that played out throughout your day. You'd often have to correct his misspelled words, but you didn't mind. After all, now you knew you'd get to meet him in person soon.

☆ From what the both of you had shared, you knew that he was a first-tier performer in the infamous Noah's Ark Traveling Circus which was currently in your area. Nervousness and excitement blended together and filled your body as you stepped into the main tent. You almost instantly knew who Dagger was, previously describing his appearance to you. With time before the show begun, you tapped his shoulder and he turned to face you. A shocked look came over his face, you hadn't told him you were coming tonight. "Oh m' God. 's really y'."

I finally finished writing them all down, so now I have to transcribe all the bonds for the Soulmate au cause I wrote it all by hand lmao. Thankfully this is mostly all the info needed cause it's a canon compliant au. All the bonds showed up the day after the Islanders were paired together for the Egg Event.

Quackity and Luzu- World becomes colorful after meeting your soulmate's eyes. Pretty much ever since he adopted Tilin, Quackity's world has only existed in shades of grey, black, and white. He had initially believed that Wilbur was his soulmate and that once Wilbur returned, his world would be colorful again. But once Wilbur came back, Quackity's belief had been squashed after there was no change.

Maximus and Dan- Your soulmates name is printed somewhere on your body. What was once a bright blue name on Max's shoulder has now faded to gray, indicating that Dan is most likely dead. Max wonders if his name is still on Dan's wrist in the blue-black color it had been before Dan's disappearance.

Roier and Jaiden- Always knowing where your soulmate is. Not only is it a constant sense of how far away the other is, they both have a tattoo-like arrow on the inside of their wrists that points in the direction of the other.

Missa and Philza- Red string of fate. An old fashioned one, it stretches on and on without fraying, even as Missa travels beyond the server. Yet it fades in color the longer he is gone with Philza's dwindling hope of ever seeing his partner, knotting itself with Missa's worries of Philza falling for another.

Vegetta and Foolish- Matching soulmate mark. Both of them have a spiraling dragon tattoo on opposite arms. Foolish has his on his right arm, which shows the dragon's purple eye on his hand. Vegetta has his on his left arm in the same way except with an emerald green eye on his hand.

Spreen and Fit- The first word your soulmate says to you is written somewhere on your skin. More specifically, it was the first thing they said to each other after getting paired up with the tickets. Fit's first words are printed on Spreen's collarbones, while Spreen's first words are printed down Fit's side.

Bad and Wilbur- The song your soulmate is currently listening to or singing plays in your head. Bad realized who his soulmate was almost immediately, finding out during what he believes to be one of Wilbur's shows. Wilbur found out only after returning to the island for a short time when Bad told him. The two decided to keep it between them, and just act like normal.

Slime and Mariana- One eye is the same color as your soulmate's eyes. Although this phenomenon usually occurs from birth with the color changing after meeting their soulmate, this is a unique case. The permanent heterochromia remains even as the two separated from Juanaflippa's death, as Slime goes into his self-inflicted Eggxile. Slime's right eye is affected while Mariana's left eye is affected.

Brazilians- Any pain your soulmate feels, you feel as well. The Brazilians discovered this bond the day after they found Richarlyson. It not only covers any injury one of them might experience, it also shares hunger pangs, headaches, dehydrated, sleep deprived, or if they are in someplace of extreme cold or extreme heat.

French- If you and your soulmate are asleep at the same time, you will enter a shared dream space. Like the Brazilians, the French learned of this the night after they found Pomme once falling asleep on the island for the first time. It works no matter how far away they are from each other, though the conflicting (shit) sleep schedules of all the French members mean that they only occasionally get to experience the shared dream. Thankfully, they always wake up well-rested from the dream.

soulmate au where you share pain with yandere childe gotta be hell lmao. like say you’re doing your weekly grocery shopping at a market place in inazuma but have to quickly pull yourself aside into an alley when you feel a sensation like you were being stabbed in the side. but when you pull your shirt up nothing is there except a small scar that looks like it’s been there forever. archons know how many times you’ve woken up in the night to the feeling of your skin being cut and little healed over cuts are there. you swear to yourself that whenever you meet your soulmate is when you try to (not so literally) beat some sense into them to get them to stop doing whatever dangerous job it is that gets them hurt all the time. but one specific outing during a festival has you mortified when you finally realise what your s/o does for a living.

childe constantly apologising in his mind to his soulmate whenever he gets hurt. he’s heard stories where a man or a woman will get hurt and their lover will feel that same pain and gets a scar on their body. he can’t just quit being a harbringer though! he’s dedicated his life to the tsarita and his country so why stop now? when he’s required to do a job in inazuma though, his world changes for better. it was supposed to be a simple job. steal some important stuff and then get out. but when he’s been shot with an arrow in the abdomen while escaping, he can’t help but notice a loud cry of pain coming from the alleyway next to him so being the naturally curious man he is, he investigates. there he sees a woman all dressed up but leaning over clutching her abdomen, he can’t help but wonder what’s bothering you until he sees the little cuts all over your shins and forearms. he then puts two and two together and comes to the immediate conclusion that you’re his soulmate! who knew such an important being like yourself was there all by your lonesome until now. but you shouldn’t worry now because childe is here!

when you finally catch your breath and the pain starts to go away you finally notice you’re not alone in that small alleyway. a ginger haired man with the red mask is there clutching his side in pain. you immediately rush to his side no questions asked and take his arm, leading the mysterious man to your home and helping him take care of his wounds. you let him take your bed while you comfortably fall asleep on the couch only to be woken up in the morning by the smell of breakfast being made by the injured man you saved last night

after that fateful night childe keeps a watchful eye on you whether that be through his fatui subordinates or himself. gearing up for the day he claims you as his own.

Oh my god, it would be horrific.

From the day you were born, or the day Childe was born, you were cursed. It wasn’t too bad when he was a child, but can you imagine when he fell into the Abyss? We have no idea what he went through when he was down there, but it took its toll on him, and you’re forced to share in that agony, so awful it feels like your soul is being torn apart. Your parents have no idea what’s wrong, nor your friends, even doctors can’t figure it out, all they can do is give you a sympathetic shrug and painkillers. Days, weeks pass and it doesn’t feel like it’s getting any better, only for it to suddenly stop as abruptly as it started. You’re dazed and confused as you slowly ease yourself back into your day to day life, still tired from the bizarre ordeal you’d gone through, but for a few more years is still isn’t too bad, the odd scar and twinge of pain here or there, but when Childe joins the Fatui that would change, and change fast.

Suddenly, the injuries are coming quickly and consistently, some just grazes, but other times there’s enough pain to feel like you’ve been stabbed or sliced into, and it feels like you’re living through hell. Enduring this pain seems so ridiculous and at some points it makes you want to cry, you deduced a while ago that this was your soulmate bond, and you can’t help but cuss out your so called soulmate for constantly putting themself through this level of pain, especially if they knew the symptoms of the bond. Sometimes, it’s enough to knock the wind out of you, leaving you no choice but to just crumple into your bed and take deep, wheezing breathes until it’s passed. It makes working difficult, and even socialising as you collapse in various bathrooms just unable to deal with it. Also, consider the Foul Legacy transformation, we know Chikde uses it, and that in doing to he likes to push his limit to the point he struggles to walk, but he’s a trained Fatui Harbinger, you’re just normal. Imagine the toll it takes on you, on your body, even your mind, it’s terrifying for those close to you to watch as your health deteriorates rapidly, and they can only fear the worst until your fever breaks.

But this year you’re not too bad, and the festival is on! You understand that your family is worried about you, but you really want to do something by yourself for once, and you promise that if you end in up too much pain you’ll go straight home. You were hoping you’d get a few days of normalcy, only to feel that familiar burning in your abdomen a little ways into the festival, and you don’t want to go back yet! So you slip into a side alley and just double over for a little while, hoping it’ll pass fairly quickly this time. Luckily it does, but just as you’re about to head back, you notice the guy at the other end of they alley. Already a little tired from the experience, remembering your promise, and now with him injured, you decide to make good on your word and head home with the stranger in tow, missing the scars on his forearms as you drag him. Childe, on the other hand, is a bit more observant. He takes note of the scars on you immediately, and he registered you in his peripheral vision when he’d first entered the alley, and it all clicks for him. His soulmate was in Inazuma all this time!

Of course he lets you take him home and treat him, hoping you would notice how the scars on him mirrored your own, but somehow you don’t. Completely focused on bandaging him would, you overlook the rest of his skin, and the send him to bed when he lies and says he has nowhere to stay and could only afford to get to the festival. You still haven’t realised by morning, and he still has his mission to finish first. It’s frustrating, but it won’t be long before he’s heading back to Snezhnaya, at that point he can grab you wind bring you home with him! He can get the ship the stop on the way back to pick you up, and until the festival is over he can keep an eye on you and any bastard that tries to get handsy can be taken care of. Good thing he can get his mission done fast, because he’s very impatient to introduce you to the rest of his family!

that was your first hint, but your second one comes when austin butler is filming the shannara chronicles and does something to his leg. you're out and about and suddenly have to grab onto your friend to steady yourself so you don't just topple over. you can't really walk on it all that easy and your friend and you manage to get you to an er where they tell you strained something- or more accurately your soulmate strained something so they could give you some medication but- there was nothing really to fix on their end. you see the article about austin's on set injury later on that day.

you're the one who injures yourself next hilariously when going to see austin in iceman cometh. you're not expecting anything, he's famous and with vanessa hudgens who is sitting in the front row looking dazzling as ever. you trip over- what honestly was probably your own two feet and tumble to the ground, breaking your ankle in the process. austin's understudy performs that night and it's fine. you actually come back the next night to see austin limping across the stage and feel so bad that you have to introduce yourself with your matching boot.

you do and the two of you talk. he does not break up with vanessa and you do not break up with your significant other. but you get each other's numbers. and so you talk, you get to know each other. it's not unheard of for soulmates to be purely platonic but you had hoped when you realized that your connection was this type that maybe you wouldn't be. maybe that you two would be romantic and you'd be swept off your feet. this is what happens when the media's depictions of soulmates are what they are. you get skewed ideas on things.

it's 2020 and you're both single. it's 2020 and he is stuck in australia focusing on elvis and you are in your home city. he misses you he says, wishes you were here because he really misses human interaction in person. he wishes you were here for him to hold and to wrap in bubble wrap because- "how did you cut your lip with a fork, darlin'?". it's sometime in 2021 and you know austin is filming that day when you suddenly feel a searing pain in your head and in your vision you see a bit of blood coming down from your eyebrow. you know you didn't hit anything so that had to come from austin and- you're not dying, you- you'd know if this was a car accident or something but god your head hurts and where is your phone.

you find it on the bed mashed up against some covers and you shakily dial austin's number. you know he's probably filming but if his head is- if he hurt himself like this he needs to answer. he doesn't and so you call him again and again and again until it's been 10 calls and he doesn't answer. the last one you leave a voicemail.

"austin? is this new?" a brief pause as you try to rub the blood from your eyebrow. "wait, are you hurt? call me!"

he doesn't call you for a day. you are on the next plane out to austraila to make sure you still have a soulmate.

"it was just a scratch- i- come here." austin says pulling you into a hug.

"bullshit, butler." you should be angry and maybe you are a little but you haven't touched austin in so long and you have your stitches to match his so it all ended fine enough. "you scared me. don't do that again."

Yooo! Sorry if you already explained this BUT what's the lore for your monster boys? The Goblin and Zombie lookin' guy?

hi!! i really haven't talked much about their lore on here, so no worries!

the lore/story itself is still pretty new (i only started actually writing it a few months ago), so i don't have all of the details sorted yet, but i can definitely share a bit of their backstories & how they met!

but just like... general warning for death & other similar subjects, because this story is full of all of that

Basically, the story is set in a sort of post-apocalyptic/nuclear apocalypse type of world & people become monsters through high amounts of radiation exposure.

Neither of the boys knew each other prior to becoming monsters; however, they did live in the same city/area when the apocalypse started, which was around like... 2018 or so.

Kelly/Red (aka "the goblin" lol) was in a group with his younger sister, her partner, and another, older guy who he grew up with/is kind of like a brother to him. About 10 months into the apocalypse, Kel made a bit of a fuck up which resulted in his sister & her partner dying. In this universe (bc it's an AU of another story I have), Kelly's sister was pretty much his best & only friend--she was more or less his entire world. Their childhood wasn't great, so they ended up really close with one another. Long story short, the guilt of what he did ate him alive & he intentionally turned himself into a monster by going into a "high radiation zone" & just... waiting. Red, as a monster, is very apathetic, vicious, etc. and he doesn't remember being human at all.

Dhestyn/Teeth (aka "zombie lookin' guy") was living with his cousin who was a bit of an amateur doomsday prepper type. BUT his cousin is an absolute coward & refuses to leave their bunker ever, so Dhes does all of their supply runs on his own. Now, Dhes is a good survivor & definitely has the skills to make it a long time in the apocalypse, but his hubris is absolutely his downfall--he sees himself as almost untouchable, which causes him to make some... less than great decisions. About 2 years into the apocalypse, he gets caught off guard by a group of raiders while on a supply run & that ultimately leads to his becoming a monster. I talked about it a lil bit already here, but basically he does manage to escape said group of raiders, however!! his injuries are too severe to make it back home, so he (unintentionally) passes out where there's a lot of radiation (the city is surrounded) & turns before he can wake up.

The two of them meet when Teeth wanders near Red's cabin. Originally, Red intended to kill Teeth, but ended up choosing not to & took him in instead. I would explain why but this is already really long so... in short: they're soulmates lol

Yes, yes. Here i am again. Talking about this guy. What can i say? This lovable psycho is worth it. There is not enough like this here so i descided to write it myself. This time i wanted to share some thoughts about the soulmate topic. No real story here. Just ideas. Enjoy!

I believe that after everything that happened to him, J.d. would really want a soulmate. Like he would cling on to them.

I think he would want something stable. No, he NEEDS something stable.

I mean his dad moves with him all the time, he has no real reason to bother with names and faces, no friends....

talking about his dad..... that is not healthy either. Not at all.

As we all know, his mom...."left" but his dad means it was an accident. It was not. His wife had problems and moving around probably did not help.

So the idea that someone is waiting just for him? Perfect for him and not leavin? Damn Yes! Sign him up!

Here are a few ideas.

Imagine an AU were the universe introduces you to each other before meeting.

Like, you share knowledge. You wake up and suddenly you know new stuff about your soulmate. Stuff they like, stuff that is important to them. Or stuff that is important in their life and family....... Oh my.....

I mean one morning you wake up and know that his mom....you know? That would be messed up.

Or you suddenly know how to use a gun. Or how to take down a house and build a bomb.

I know that i would pray for my soulmate to just be a history/science nerd. (We all know that won't work no matter how hard we pray)

Now imagine you are a history nerd yourself and you are interested in.... i don't know.... old torture devices. And how to use them....

Not the kind of knowledge you wanna share with him.

It would even more convince him that you are made for each other.

Another idea: Imagine an AU were you have numbers on your wrist. Not a timer but how far you are away from each other. Something that tells you how close you are

I am sure he is already pissed every time his dad tells him that they move again.

Even more so with this.

But know imagine, (like in my last post) that you are from europe. Maybe germany like in my case.

And one day J.d. is done and does the math. Finding out that it does not matter where he goes in america would be a hard pill

Nothing that would stop him however, I am sure.

Let's be real here. We know how he got with Veronica. You better be ready for this whole soulmate thing because he is not leaving once he got you.

This is the last thing. Imagine an AU were you share scars and injuries. However you don't get it as bad as your soulmate.

That would be one more reason for him to have that gun on him.

And IF he gets hurt? (Kurt Ram?) Oh he will deal with them. After all, they did not just attack him.

(This gives me ideas for the heathers too. but maybe later)

The point is, nobody is allowed to lay a finger on you.

But at the same time he has his slushies.... that damn.....

But this is different because.... well..... once he found you, you share the pain. He gets you slushies and you give it all back. Thats ok. (No it isn't)

He would go back in time and relinquish his immortality just to live out his days with you.

‘Guess your wish won’t come true now.’

— “I have pictures but I can’t bring myself to look at any yet. Strange, isn’t it? It’s been eight thousand years and one day and I still haven’t looked at them… It still hurts but I’ll show you.”

Hyunjin took copious amounts of pictures of you and sometimes of the two of you.

Everywhere you went, he would take a candid photo of you. He had a collection of photos of you in your ‘worst’ state and a collection of you in your ‘best’.

Some depict you in front of a tree, a statue, a building, some off guard, somewhere you were completely aware he was taking a photo but didn’t react, and somewhere you were photogenic when he would pull out his camera.

He took a photo of your favorite things, things you were neutral about, and things you hated- Never in a way to spite you either, he just wanted to keep track of any details about you that might slip him later.

Hyunjin knew he would eventually lose you. Whether it be death or a breakup, he knew.

Still, he liked keeping tabs. He liked taking pictures. He liked- Loved, you.

You were special to him. The love of his everlasting life.

— “Wow, you really captured their liveliness in these pictures.”

— “I think this one has to be my favorite.”

You were smiling the brightest you had ever smiled for a picture Hyunjin decided to take.

It was a moment you were most happy and Hyunjin recalled the feeling of gratitude he felt to be able to experience that with you.

‘Hyunjin! Hyunjin! Hyunjin!’

— “I’m sorry…”

— “It’s okay to cry, you know. I won’t judge.”

— “Thank you…”

— “I can stop if you want me to.”

— “No. It’s okay. It’s nice to talk about it.”

— “So… What do you miss the most about them?”

— “Everything.”

— “But if you had to choose one.”

— “Do I have to?”

The truth was Hyunjin couldn’t pick anything, in particular, he missed about you because he just missed you.

Time didn’t change anything except the state of the world.

In Hyunjin’s mind, he was still stuck in the past eight thousand years ago took place.

During you.

His world had stopped long ago. The day after you.

He just missed you. Nothing more, nothing less.

And what he would give to have at least one more day with you.

There was not a single word anyone could say to you for you to have known what would’ve happened.

There was nothing Hyunjin could’ve done to have known either.

You were sick, you needed medicine.

Hyunjin was busy, and besides, you never told him he was sick. That was just a detail he found out after.

You made the choice to drive to the nearest pharmacy. You chose to not tell Hyunjin either.

To this day, he never once blamed you for what happened. No matter how many signs pointed to you or your decisions, you weren’t distracted.

You had a plan. Drive to the pharmacy, get medicine, and recover before you saw Hyunjin again.

You wouldn’t have known that at that exact moment, it would be you, the road, and a drunk driver.

Hyunjin was the first to arrive at the hospital. He filled out your information, identified you, and he saw you.

Hooked to various machines, intubated as your lungs had to have been ruptured in the crash. Every broken bone you had, every bruise the impact caused to your body, the blood.

The blood. More than Hyunjin had ever seen before in his time of immortality.

‘Well, I wished to be immortal.’

The bandage around your skull had bled through, giving the doctors a hard time trying to keep you alive.

The blood. It didn’t stop. It didn’t go away.

‘Guess your wish won’t come true now.’

Hyunjin remembered the slow breaking of his heart followed by the slow, painful numbing that followed as he watched various doctors trying to resuscitate you, the machines showing an unchanging flatline.

‘Hyunjin! Hyunjin! Hyunjin!’

He remembered not knowing what to do when the doctors called your time of death, unable to resuscitate you.

You lost a lot of blood, your lungs were ruptured- collapsed, your skull was fractured, your heart had given up entirely, the bleeding.

Too much blood.

— “Hyunjin, I’m so sorry.”

— “You, me, the doctors, the drunk driver, everyone who knows what happened. All of us are sorry, and it still doesn’t change anything.”

— “Will relinquishing your immortality change anything?”

— “No. But I will get to meet them again.”

Thousands of years later, after he had lost you, you were his only one.

He never met with anyone after you. If he did, it never went any further.

He saw you everywhere, in everything, and yet it was only glimpses and then you’d be gone completely and out of his grasp.

He saw you in your favorite things, and places, he saw your favorite color painting his world.

He saw you in the wishing fountain he met you at, and even if you weren’t actually there, he held your smile in his mind.

Heard your laughing.

‘It’s nice to meet you, Hyunjin. I hope your wish comes true.’

He stared at the fountain of coins sunken to the bottom.

— “I wished for mortality.”

Hyunjin couldn’t cry. He felt he had cried enough, his fingers tapping rhythmically on the table as he waited for his results to come back.

The person across from him, a nametag that read, ‘Felix‘, with a smiling face drawn beside it, was now preoccupied with the beeping from the printer as something had began to print.

Hyunjin was requesting his immortality be relinquished so he could live out his days as a mortal and eventually meet you again, whether you were waiting in the afterlife or already reincarnated and trying to find him again after eight thousand years apart.

The wait was excruciatingly long.

“Looks like the results are in,” Felix waited for the printer to finish printing the results page before he read it out loud, curing Hyunjin’s slight impatience.

“Your request to relinquish your immortality status has been…”

Hyunjin held his breath, waiting for Felix to finish. Another eternity passed between his words.

“Accepted.”
