Asked Punkitt something similar and I don't think she ever quite got to my ask, but are there any Bros. X episodes you'd recommend as someone looking to pick up the game again? Anything from Total Conversions like Susan/Spike or something that's pretty 'Traditionally Mario'.

sure! there's quite a few good ones i can think of (all of these are for SMBX2). for more traditional mario experiences i'd recommend A Tiny World Episode by MrDoubleA, Frozen and Deeper by Blake Izayoi, and Level Collection by zlaker. the last one's on the tougher side but it's still really fun. as for total conversions, Gardens of Purity by Waddle and Subzero Heroes are both super ambitious and tightly designed, with the latter being more cohesive and the former having a lot of different gameplay styles. though both are definitely pretty difficult. and Wario Treasure Master by Metrovania and Basil is a great pick if you're looking for more wario-y goodness beyond susan taxpayer
