First loaf of sourdough bread - American style. Doesn’t look perfect, but I think rather good. Can’t wait to eat it tonight :).
Wanted to compare the optics to the breads we got from the little bakery we bought our bread when we lived in SoMD. Shocked to read that they have closed their business 😔.

I made dill pickle sourdough bread and I am so so excited for it!!!! My scoring didn't work properly because it's a little over proofed 😬 the internet told me using pickle juice would make it rise slower and that was not the case 😂😂😂 the pickle juice made it rise faster somehow! I think I might try making grilled cheese with this 🤔😍

This kitchen pets being living spirits convo really brings me back to the idea of creating a gluten-free sourdough starter. If I'm in rhythm with my small days-of-the-week magic "house" tasks, I bet I could remember to care for a dough-baby.
And I like having bread in my life, but it's a PITA these days.
Food for thought.

Got some snow end of last week - for the area we live in. The day it fell it was a tiny bit chaotic traffic wise (most people here are not used to drive in this condition) but nothing to wild. LO loves it - obviously. Especially as the last few days where cold and it stays. Probably it‘ll melt in the upcoming days. But we enjoy it while it lasts. Went to the local Christmas marketable had a lot of outdoor fun this weekend.
It seems I‘m getting the hang of baking American style sourdough bread. Very happy with my last attempt. The crumb isn’t as open as it’s supposed to be in a perfect loaf. But I have some whole wheat + whole spelt in there and as Germans we prefer a denser crumb anyway. Maybe I‘ll try backing it in a pot next time. But I‘m used to see what my bread does in the oven…we‘ll see.

I freestyled this bread and it is really tasty? I'm so proud of myself.
Just put in some fresh herbs that grew on my window sill and leftover garlic oil from a jar of olives. The bread dough (with home made sourdough starter) spent a night in the fridge and had hours in the warm kitchen to rise.

Sourdough cinnamon coffee cake and omg when I tell you this was delicious 🤤 it needed more of the topping but I will adjust for next time!!!
