Been trying to think of a way to explain to American audiences why the 9 dash line thing is so important to SEAsians and why it's justifiable to ban the Barbie movie for it, but the closest explanation I can give is this: imagine if this painting was in the Barbie movie with no explanation and we were all just supposed to accept it without comment

I may be too stressed to articulate this clearly but I am going to try.
While Hawai'i and Maui are trending I'm going to share this link. Its a FAQ about Hawai'i's statehood and the situation Hawai'i is in at the moment. There are people who want to be part of the U.S in Hawai'i and there are people who don't, but the people of Hawai'i were never, at any point, given an option to choose.
If you want to help Hawai'i and it's people but can't donate, spread this word. Help educate people. Make Hawai'i as the tropical paradise be replaced with the sovereign nation stolen by the u.s.
It is subtropical, meaning it is much more vulnerable to arid climates caused by climate change.
It has been systematically stripped of its native food harvesting practices and any ability to farm and self sustain. It has been systematically stripped of its previous industries. Maui used to export milk and cattle. That's all been taken away.
The islands since the 1800s were exploited as plantations, burning sugar cane and growing pineapples which are not native, diverting the water and depleting the water table.
Lahaina burned because of these practices. Because the native people were no longer allowed to govern their lands.
We as local people know that tourism is bad because this systematic destruction has happened in living memory. Within my grandparent's lifetimes, within my lifetime. I have watched this island crumble at the hands of mainland startups, hoping to take people on whale watching tours that cut the whales with their boats while people aren't allowed to have a ferry between islands. People create ziplines and tours through lands that used to belong to local people for farming and cattle. Now they're bought out for photos and hikes the local people can never afford. Hundreds of jobs have been lost in the past thirty years. Mass migrations to the mainland have been made by local people, myself included because we can no longer afford to stay on the island where we were born. Working three jobs is not enough to cover the rent because the houses are bought up by mainland people who then turn these houses into vacation rentals and charge hundreds a night. Right now these very homes are being paid for by the government so that Lahaina people have somewhere to stay and it's costing the state millions that people in the mainland are reeping.
People ask why tourism is bad. Because there are people alive today on Maui that have watched the foreign industries destroy everything. Because people alive today know what used to be and knew how to take care of the ecosystem so that this kind of calamity didn't happen. Lahaina was not just fertile. They had canals and waterways. Rivers that they would drive boats through to go from one part of town to another. It was more like Venice than this desert you see in pictures.
And do your own research. The information is out there. There are two Hawai'i's. The one you see as a tourist, and the REAL one. The one we need to protect.
Let Hawaiians have their land back. Let them restore the water to the land so we can prevent further catastrophe. Tell people about REAL Hawaii.

"The U.S. government is entering a new era of collaboration with Native American and Alaska Native leaders in managing public lands and other resources, with top federal officials saying that incorporating more Indigenous knowledge into decision-making can help spur conservation and combat climate change.
Federal emergency managers on Thursday also announced updates to recovery policies to aid tribal communities in the repair or rebuilding of traditional homes or ceremonial buildings after a series of wildfires, floods and other disasters around the country.
With hundreds of tribal leaders gathering in Washington this week for an annual summit, the Biden administration is celebrating nearly 200 new agreements that are designed to boost federal cooperation with tribes nationwide.
The agreements cover everything from fishery restoration projects in Alaska and the Pacific Northwest to management of new national monuments in the Southwestern U.S., seed collection work in Montana and plant restoration in the Great Smoky Mountains.
“The United States manages hundreds of millions of acres of what we call federal public lands. Why wouldn’t we want added capacity, added expertise, millennia of knowledge and understanding of how to manage those lands?” U.S. Interior Assistant Secretary Bryan Newland said during a panel discussion.
The new co-management and co-stewardship agreements announced this week mark a tenfold increase over what had been inked just a year earlier, and officials said more are in the pipeline.
Newland, a citizen of the Bay Mills Indian Community in northern Michigan, said each agreement is unique. He said each arrangement is tailored to a tribe’s needs and capacity for helping to manage public lands — and at the very least assures their presence at the table when decisions are made.
The federal government is not looking to dictate to tribal leaders what a partnership should look like, he said...
The U.S. government controls more than a quarter of the land in the United States, with much of that encompassing the ancestral homelands of federally recognized tribes...
Tribes and advocacy groups have been pushing for arrangements that go beyond the consultation requirements mandated by federal law.
Researchers at the University of Washington and legal experts with the Native American Rights Fund have put together a new clearinghouse on the topic. They point out that public lands now central to the country’s national heritage originated from the dispossession and displacement of Indigenous people and that co-management could present on opportunity for the U.S. to reckon with that complicated legacy...
In an attempt to address complaints about chronic underfunding across Indian Country, President Joe Biden on Wednesday signed an executive order on the first day of the summit that will make it easier for tribes to find and access grants.
Deanne Criswell, administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, told tribal leaders Thursday that her agency [FEMA] began work this year to upgrade its disaster guidance particularly in response to tribal needs.
The Indigenous people of Hawaii have increasingly been under siege from disasters, most recently a devastating fire that killed dozens of people and leveled an entire town. Just last month, another blaze scorched a stretch of irreplaceable rainforest on Oahu.
Tribes in California and Oregon also were forced to seek disaster declarations earlier this year after severe storms resulted in flooding and mudslides...
Criswell said the new guidance includes a pathway for Native American, Alaska Native and Hawaiian communities to request presidential disaster declarations, providing them with access to emergency federal relief funding. [Note: This alone is potentially a huge deal. A presidential disaster declaration unlocks literally millions of dollars in federal aid and does a lot to speed up the response.]
The agency also is now accepting tribal self-certified damage assessments and cost estimates for restoring ceremonial buildings or traditional homes, while not requiring site inspections, maps or other details that might compromise culturally sensitive data."

DO NOT GO TO WORK, SCHOOL, OR OPEN YOUR BUSINESS FRIDAY
There is a call for a GLOBAL general strike in solidarity with Palestine to force governments to stop supporting the state of israel and the genocide of Palestinians. I am literally begging you all to act. If you look at past genocides and say, I would not have been complicit in that, then you NEED to act. I am skipping a midterm on Friday that will cause me to fail the class I am in. I've urged the prof to reschedule, but regardless, I will not go. Nothing is more important than stopping a genocide. There is more power in numbers, the more of us who do it globally, the less likely we are to be punished. I am linking below the instagram post that has the full information on the strike. PLEASE reblog and get the word out. PLEASE tag people with far reach. We cannot be complacent and complicit in the face of genocide. If you need posters to plaster around your community, DM me, I have some done (in english as I am not fluent in anything else at the moment). We need committed solidarity from all communities. Free Palestine is disability justice. It is a form of Indigenous liberation. It is connected to all of our struggles.

What is there left to learn?
All you need to know of any good branch of leftism is that self determination and freedom is above everything.
We stand against so much because so much has been created to get in the way of that.
Money often gets in the way by imposing literal pay walls to basic needs so we oppose it. Racism gets in the way when racist gatekeepers prevent POC from receiving equal care, equal service, and equal access to resources so we oppose it. The same goes for all the other -isms and bigotries such as misogyny and homophobia.
Human beings come in all shapes, sizes, colors, sexualities, and genders. We are beautifully diverse this way, it's literally human nature.
And so we must learn to live and accept people different from ourselves.
Nobody has more rights or humanity than anyone else. Nobody has the right to enforce their own determinations and truths on anyone else. There is no singular way of being that is Right or makes you more deserving than the rest, that gives you the right to control others because it's just such a Good way of living. There never will be.
There is no natural way to determine what a good, deserving human looks like. And that's why leftism supports and hears all oppressed people.
Every single excuse and method that attempts to control/feel superior are all social constructs. Ex:
You're rich, fiscally responsible and think you're better than others? Money isn't natural, it's barely even real. It's something that some human made up one day to feel better than the others. It may as well be called pixie dust. And without it you're just like the rest of us.
Being White didn't mean anything before some human decided they could gain self esteem by reducing the perceived worthiness of Black and Brown ppl. Without made-up ideas of race you're just like the rest of us, made of the same hunger and thirst and love as we are.
Cis and Trans or Gay and straight are just different ways for humans to be born and exist. Some people like their bodies, some don't. Some people kiss the same sex, some dont. You aren't superior for being cis or only kissing one sex. You won't get a trophy for denying the kind of human you are or for making others feel bad about the kind of human they are either.
There is no natural test for superiority in humans because human superiority is unnatural. For any of us.
The only measure of being Better than others was how much better you were at being a community member; how much you contributed to the betterment of your peers. You didn't brag about being white, you bragged about how you killed so many deer that your people certainly will Not be starving.
We were born to share this planet and our only ACTUAL job is to take care of each other and the planet in whatever way we can. It's the only thing we've ever owed each other.
Racism, ableism, colonization, capitalism, white supremacy, genocide, Nazis, Zionists, etc.
These are not concepts that deserve to be kept alive. Anything that makes you hate someone else or makes you feel more Worthy than someone else has no place in the future.
I say all this because I feel like I'm beating a dead horse on this blog so often. I really do try to stay educational and focus on solidarity. But there's only so much that words can do without action.
And words without action are as good as dust in the wind.
I love this blog, but I'm long over this. We need to act. There is a genocide happening and I'm starting to believe that everyone who wants to stop it Already knows about it. They do not need awareness. They don't need voices. They need direction. They need community. They need support and bodies to help intimidate police.
They need us.
And instead I blog on Tumblr trying to rally people that hardly reblog a call to action.
This blog is starting to feel like a symptom of the system. A time-consuming distraction for me. And a way for you to placate yourselves while the world gets worse.
Just following leftists doesn't make you a good person. Having the Right opinions doesn't make you a good person. Even believing in equality doesn't make you a good person if you don't do something about it.
I'm tired of begging for people to organize and protest and show up for each other.
I'm convinced that if you ever had the intention of doing so then you already are. And if you're not then that's a choice you've made.
You either support genocide or you fight it, you know?
I don't know what else there is to learn or say. What are you waiting for? An invitation?
Please go fucking organize and join a protest.
In other news....I am getting closer to deleting this blog every day.

Defund billionaires
Defund corporations
Defund the military/police
Defund the Vatican
...
Oh wow. Look at that.
Now let's just get rid of all the nazis and fascists in positions of power.
I wonder how.
Hmm.
How would we do this. Not just voting. Not just protesting. But.. maybe ALL the means we have available?
(Looks at rich people)(looks at people with more spoons than I have ever had)(looks at people who have had more love and support than I have/will ever have)
Hmm. Maybe NOT relying on your most disenfranchised, disillusioned, and disabled to do the heavy lifting would get this done faster. Unfortunately (normies?) Don't know how to treat brown, weird, queer, and crippled folks like humans a lot of the times..
So we are very much here. Despite having -negative life-force at this point.

"What will you do if you don't have friends, a relationship or a community when times get rough?"
The problem with this way of thinking is the amount of effort I have to pour into a black hole, for an undisclosed amount of time, out of fear. Not out of love or genuine connection. Today, almost every relationship is created out of fear or lack therefore it is a counterfeit connection. I have to invest hours per day/week talking to somebody about nothing so I have a HOPE that they will bail me out one day. I'd rather use that time to practice the art of remaining in a positive state of pure consciousness; commit to the Great Work of restructuring my mental patterns so I can create what I want at the moment I need it. To depend on somebody, who isn't even a real person but an amalgamation of identities that they think we share, is Soul-death. In other words, I don't plan on my life imploding nor will I use somebody else's life as an example of what could happen to me. If I must engage in useless pondering, I will always use constructive examples, not destructive ones. All I can do is remain in the present moment and take each minute at a time and I will always choose my happiness right now over a past trauma or future anxiety.

The physical world is purposely beautiful to distract from the fact that is a prison, yet when one’s mind is right (a rarity) it holds the potential to be a playground. And so the nature-glorifiers begin worshipping the manifestation of nature which leads to dutiful obligation to engage in coitus so as to keep replicating new beings for the energy harvesting cycle “as nature intended” (lol). They conveniently forget nature is evolution’s trial-run, God’s mind spiralling and creating mazes only to eat itself up, a playground of discovery turned into a soul-mining factory by the satanic predators that have ran rampant here. It has become a prison worthy of escape by journeying into the depths of one’s soul and embarking on the narrow path of individualism and self sufficiency. There is no “community” when the 95% are either slow or plain evil. Yet when one glorifies God and God alone they are freed from the shackles of “biological clocks” (satanic death machines for the black-cube consciousness) for the free being exists only to engage in divine and joyful communion with the Divine, the illusion of “self” and “other” disappears, leaving fluidity and potentiality in its wake. The free being is not looking for a materialistic “purpose” for the free being is fulfilled simply by existing and exploring, their dexterity allowing them to soar to new heights and pick up life’s lessons fast so they can move on to new ones, with zero entitlement complex and no scarcity mindset, while aimless minds are left to wander and continuously seek a world they do not even care to understand.

Let's talk about The Morrígu and Sovereignty
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I've noticed a trend over the years among those who work with the Morrígu (especially among Americans, probably because you know 'freedom') where the word sovereignty gets thrown around a lot in some.... odd contexts...
For example "You should never worry about telling her no, she's the goddess of sovereignty she'll respect your decisions EVERYTIME!"
I've always found this very confusing since... She literally brings down her full wrath against Cu Chulainn for rejecting her advances/boons and becoming the high king (and being symbolically married to her)... wasn't a choice... the druids would preform a ceremony and receive divine visions of the future high king and I've NEVER heard of it being turned down.
So lets look at a few definitions;
First for Sovereignty
Sovereignty, though its meanings have varied across history, also has a core meaning, supreme authority within a territory. It is a modern notion of political authority. Historical variants can be understood along three dimensions — the holder of sovereignty, the absoluteness of sovereignty, and the internal and external dimensions of sovereignty. The state is the political institution in which sovereignty is embodied. An assemblage of states forms a sovereign states system.
-from Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy
vs. Individual Sovereignty
'sovereignty of the individual, 'individual sovereignty' or self-sovereignty is generally understood to imply one's property rights including self-ownership also called negative sovereignty, but also includes the rejection of or freedom from positive sovereignty where negative sovereignty includes property rights and positive sovereignty includes the right to subjugate people to command obedience or sovereign rule
- from Wikipedia
The concept of Individual Sovereignty (sometimes called self ownership) is primarily a legal and political philosophy that has grown out of other individualist philosophies. So it would be pretty obvious why it resonates with modern peoples (Americans especially).
Now back to The Morrígu. They are not deities of INDIVIDUAL sovereignty, but classical sovereignty. They empower the kings (high kings especially) to rule the land and are the acting forces which remove kings in the event that they don't uphold the divine expectations of their position (such as true judgments).
Don't believe me? Still thinking to yourself "yes but The Morrígu would never expect me to give up my individual sovereignty, they're empowering." In that case I won't even direct you back to the story of Cu Chulainn, instead we'll look at Macha, wife of Cruinniuc. When she is brought to the horse race, obviously pregnant and asks the king not to make her prove her husbands boasts he declines her request. If The Morrígu were interested in individual sovereignty over sovereignty this would have been a perfect moment to show that. Instead Macha does as her king demands and runs the race, but in her divine aspect she curses not just that king (for his mistreatment of those under him, ie. a pregnant woman) but also all his men and their descendents.
The idea of The Morrígu is not some super individualized empowerment allowing you to defy the authority of those around you (including the gods), the core value is one of justice for those who ARE tread on by Sovereign powers. This may feel like splitting hairs but I assure you the distinction is one worth thinking about, and possibly even changing the way you speak about The Morrígu.
