Anon who complained about Nazi inventions; Nazis stole and combined many spiritual stuff from others for their own use, the most famous and the saddest case being the Swastika (Sowelu rune being the second most ruined symbol in the Europe). They also ruined Nietzsche’s Super Human Concept, which is basically just “We are souls having a human experience” to twist it into their own agenda about Great Aryan Race. Nietzsche himself hated Nazis.

Yes, they believed in some wicked stuff, which goes again to this notion; just because you know about spirituality doesn’t mean you are spiritual. The concept of people originating from other places than Earth is not Nazi invention but exists in many cultures. Nazis just twisted it into their own agenda and claimed this is now the basis for their grand spiritual new world order. The Lizard people and other human-animal creatures concept is also a very ancient one. Nazis just stole a shitload of shit and then said “We made this”. They had so many people studying these and those spiritual concepts in order to form a new world from these old ancient teachings and world-views, twisted to fit now the Nazi’s agenda.

It’s the same spiritual toxic shit we see nowadays in some spiritual concepts and groups - and I personally want to have nothing to do with them.

It’s not the concepts, it’s not the thoughts. It’s how you use them. Swastika is a fine, beautiful symbol. Sowelu is the great amazing Sun. People originating from other star systems etc. is just an ancient basic spiritual concept (which you will learn a lot especially in near-death experience records). Souls have plenty of places where to live and circle back and worth.

Nazis didn’t invent a shit. They stole it all and then claimed its theirs to stroke their own egos and to give themself a permission to hurt and hunt others. This still exist in every single big religion, unfortunately.

I sometimes get complains that “You can’t use spirit animal as it’s Native American origins!!!” while completely missing the fact that Native Americans aren’t the only cultures with spirit animal concept, shamanism, person’s ability to turn into animals. Nor Vodoo and Hoodoo are the only magic based concepts and witchcraft is now just some fancy stuff wannabe white people do instead of understanding witchcraft has a base in many, many, many cultures.

Edit: IF you believe that Nazis originally invented these spiritual concepts from scratch without stealing them from other cultures to hurt others, that’s exactly what Nazis wanted/want you to believe. It’s their agenda.

hi, vin!! if i may ask again (and please feel inclined to ignore this if you are not in the right headspace to answer!)

how do i continue working on academic requirements when my chronic illness has gotten the best of me? it's near graduation but i can't seem to get myself to fo the work, hence feeling guilty (and the deadline is tomorrow so resting isn't really much of a primary choice here)

the requirement is a written piece and even though i consider myself a writer, it seems as though i'm si burnt out that all i do is cope, cope, cope. but i am in decline or stagnant always :(

I am not particularly sure if this is an advice question or a divination question so I will respond with both. I think that it can be hard to push ourselves past our personal limits, especially if our body itself is the one putting on the breaks. I think first, you need to remove the deadline from your mind and spend a moment with your body. It is okay to listen to yourself, even in the face of academic pressure. 

I know it can be embarrassing to message a teacher and explain a situation, but this might be a night where you respect the fact that your body does not have the capacity or the desire to move anymore. If a painter can’t move his hands anymore, then all the knowledge in the world won’t make him paint. I imagine since we are nearing the end of the semester, this assignment is probably big/covers a significant part of your grade. It might be best to see if you can get an extension. If you can’t do that then I would suggest actually prioritizing rest. Especially since you’re chronically ill you need to give yourself the space and the patience to recover. I know it’s due tomorrow, I know it’s stressing out out to think about resting, and perhaps you want me to motivate you to press forward but you said yourself - your body has gotten the best of you. It doesn’t matter how good of a writer you are, or how capable you are (and I sure you have all the intellectual means to write this paper!) but your body has informed you that it reached it’s limit and you need to let it advocate for yourself. Set a timer, allow yourself a period of rest if you can’t extend the deadline. I promise you. It will be alright, it will be easier to cram a paper with a little rest behind you then to be in agony every push of the keyboard. I can’t imagine how difficult it is to be in school right now, give yourself a little grace please.

RUNE JUNE: DAY 4 - Consulting the Runes Part 2

What is rune casting?

Today I’m talking about rune casting. Rather than runes being pulled individually or as part of a spread, they are thrown down and interpreted based on where they land. There are different ways you can go about this, and these different methods can be combined in different ways. These are just variations I’ve heard of - if you use a different system I would very much like to hear about it. Again, I’m not going to be getting into individual rune meanings in this post, as each rune of the Elder Futhark will be getting it’s own post later in the month.

What do I need to rune cast?

In the most basic sense, all you need is a large flat surface and a set of runes. Most people cast onto a cloth, to help prevent damage to the runes and to the surface being cast upon, as well as to stop the runes from spreading so far and potentially sliding off of smooth surfaces. It is important to ensure that your cloth is as flat as possible to minimise wrinkles interfering with the fall of the runes. Personally, I have a separate set of runes (wooden beads which I burned runes onto myself) for casting, as the sound of my clay tiles being dropped causes sensory issues for me. You may find that some gemstone runes, if particularly rounded, may roll away too much and be difficult for use in castings. Clay runes also are predisposed to pile on top of each other as their weight doesn’t allow them to bounce away as other materials might. It is important to consider the connotations behind the colour of your cloth to ensure it isn’t at odds with your intention for the reading. White is always a safe bet.

As mentioned in yesterday’s post, you may want to ‘set the mood’ before undertaking a casting, in order to help you relax and focus. This could mean meditation, casting a circle, lighting a candle/incense, calling on your deities/ancestors with or without an offering and any combination of these and other practices.

Additional to the usual runes you use for readings, it is common in rune casting to use a ‘querent rune’, which is a rune that represents the person you are asking on behalf of (so that could be you, or whoever has asked for the reading). Some people have different runes depending on the gender of the querent, and I have also seen use of a ‘group querent’ runestone. As many modern rune sets come with a blank rune but not everyone uses it in the way that Blum (who introduced its use) intended, some use that as their querent rune. I have my own querent rune in a design that felt right to me, and represents the querent regardless of gender or number of people.

What should I ask?

As with spreads yesterday, keep it broad. Things like “What do I/does the querent need to know today/tomorrow/about this topic.” (See yesterday’s post for more detail.)

How do I cast runes?

I have come across two main techniques for casting runes.

1. Put your hand in the bag and draw out however many runes feels right, and drop/spread them onto the reading area. (This can be good for runes made of crystal and other materials that are likely to roll too far if cast from the bag). 2. Pour all of the runes from the bag from a height which allows them to spread around the reading area without going beyond it. This height will vary depending on the materials used.

It is more common to place the querent if using the first technique, whereas in the second the querent rune may be cast with the others. If using a placed querent marker, it could be printed or embroidered onto the casting cloth rather than being a runestone itself. You could also use a drawn symbol on paper, but it should be roughly the same size as the runes you are using. 

The next decision to make is which runes you are going to read. Here are your options:

a. Read all of them, treating the face-up runes as upright and the face-down runes as merkstave (reversed). If using technique 2 from above, this potentially means interpreting the position of all 24 runes. b. Remove the face-down runes and only read the face-up ones. If you have cast your querent rune and it is not visible, be sure to check for it before removing the face-down runes. c. Remove any runes that are so far away from the querent that you consider them outside of the reading area. This could be used in conjunction with either of the above two methods.

My personal method at the moment is 2b, with the querent rune cast with the others.

How do I read a rune casting?

This is where it gets complicated, just because there’s a lot of variation. Runes were originally written and read from right to left, unlike many modern western languages, so some people read them from right to left. As a result, some see the right side of the reading area as representing issues in the past, but others ascribe the past to the bottom of the reading area (everything below the querent/centre). Runes to the left of or above the querent/centre are considered in the future. The further away from the querent/centre, the further it is in either direction from the present moment and the closer it is, the more important and currently relevant the matter is (diagram 1 below).

Whether you choose to observe past to present and right to left or bottom to top, the ‘other’ direction can be used to indicate importance (diagram 2 below). When using a querent rune/symbol, the reader might only use proximity to it in order to establish importance of different topics (diagram 3). Hopefully these images make it a little clearer, but you can mix and match what works for you. 

In diagram 2, a rune in the position of X would be something that happened a little while ago that is very important. Position Y would be something in the far future that isn’t particularly important and Z is something currently happening which is moderately important.

Applying the methods in diagram 3 to the forth picture, Algiz and Dagaz are the most important, with Dagaz representing something which has recently happened and Algiz something which is about to. Sowelu and Hagalaz relate to each other due to their proximity and are the next most important issue.

These images are just examples, not difinitive ‘how-to’s. It’s not necessary to use a past/present method, you can just use importance and it can either be direction based or proximity based. And the other way around, you don’t have to use importance. There’s no right or wrong. As long as you are clear on how you will read it before you lay the spread, the runes will fall as they should. Intention, intention, intention!

What if the querent falls in an odd place?

Mine most often falls near the middle, but if it doesn’t that can mean something in itself. A cast querent rune which lands at the bottom of the reading area (or on the far right, depending on method) could indicate that the querent is focusing too much on the past to the extent that they are preventing themselves from moving forward. The querent rune landing at the top of the reading (or on the far left) could indicate that unresolved issues in the querents past are preventing them from moving forward. If you are reading for importance rather than past/present, a querent rune at the ‘important’ end of the spread could indicate someone who has been too self-sacrificing and needs to put themselves first. A querent rune at the ‘less important’ end of the spread could indicate someone who has been too selfish and should be better balancing their needs with the needs of others.

Rune Casting

I recently got my Amethyst Runes and started getting more into it. It was pretty hard to find some good information online, so I thought I’d share with you guys what I found! I just write down what I have in my book of shadows, and this is just what I found, so there may be things that I wrote wrong or that doesn’t fit your believes. I request you look up on this subject yourself too, but this right here might give you a head start.

Runes are symbols which may be used in divination. They are very old and there are many theories as to how or when they originiated, but it’s well known that they were used in Europe.

The word itself comes from the old norse word “Run”, and the old german word “Runa”, which translates to “whisper” or “secret”. Runes are closely tied to Odin and according to ancient germanic people they were created by him.

The runic alphabets are called “Futhark”, after the first six runes, which are Fehu, Uruz, Thurisaz, Ansuz, Raido and Kenaz. While the elder furthark has 24 characters, just like our alphabet, there are also other versions of the Futhark which range from 16 to 33 characters.

Now to the Meanings!

I have to say, I had a really hard time looking up the meanings of every rune. While some runes have the same meaning everywhere, others seems to have a different meaning every time. I chose what was either mostly named or felt right for me. Feel free to share what you found out about them, or how you use them in the comments below!

Every rune is associated with a letter of our alphabet, so I decided to include them and write them right beside the name. I don’t have the sources to post pictures of every rune (nor the space), but you can easily look them up youself online and get in touch with them.

The Blank Rune

No one really knows how or when it came into the set, but at somd point, the blank rune has been occasionally beed added and used in a reading. Using the blank rune or not is personal preference. It can be useless to you or help you, it’s your choice whether you keep it or not. If you do, it should be read and used based on intuition. Consider it’s placement and the relation and connection to other runes. Some runes sets doesn’t even include the blank rune.

It may represent Odin or Fate.

Please note that these are just the names of the runes that I prefer, there are a lot, lot, LOT more other pronounciations or names for each rune, but adding them in here too would be too much.

Runes also have reversed meanings, but that is sonething I haven’t got into by now. Just research for yourself a little bit, learn some more and stick to what feels right to you.

Now to casting them. There are many different ways to cast runes. You may simply pull runes out of a bag with your eyes closed, or you dump some or all of them on the ground. You can do simple Tarot Spreads with your runes or look up different ways to use them.

You can use the runes in magic as well! You may use fitting runes in a spell, or write with then in your book of shadows, or draw them on your altar, wand, etc. There are many things you can do with runes, just take your time and get closer with them!

•• Hi Everyone! ••

• Well, since there was SO much info. w the 1st Reading ever on here, I split this up-= this is Part 2 of the same reading from 7/4- w/ the same question to the Universe, per se:

• My question was asking for clarity for all humans (the collective) & what we were to expect in the months ahead, re: the pandemic, our lives re: work, our concerns re: survival, our world, & to show us anything we may need to know… (for our near future). I’ll explain as I go, what decks or books I used...

• After the Tarot cards reading, I used the Oracle cards from Lynn V. Andrews, called “The Power Deck- The Cards of Wisdom”.

• This is the #16 Card, called “Dream”. Here’s the written interpretation of the card in the deck:

• First of all, this #16, factors down to a 7, a time of going within, & seeking out spiritual answers. It also on another level, refers to the month we are in right now (July).. So, the message is telling us to have the Courage to dream of everything we may have once wanted in life,... now, & to act “as if” those possibilities are already here.

• It’s explaining that when we (as human beings) first come back (if you believe in past lives) that we aren’t meant to remember what or who we were before, but as spiritual lessons in our lives are revealed to us, we slowly re-learn what our gifts are. They could be gifts that came easily to you in this lifetime, & are gifts that have stayed within your spirit or soul, manifesting now again for you.

• It’s also saying anything that you dream of as a possibility, has the potential to actually become a reality, you just have to really believe it!

• Some of the symbolism I thought was interesting with this card & the message that came out in this reading is:  this is supposed to happen to all of us on Earth (Mother Earth) right now, & it’s saying this was her Divine plan, even during this challenging time right now for us all: to have people get back to what they were once dreaming of doing, and /or what really makes them happy. If you are living your most passionate dream or life, and loving what you’re doing, continue on that path, & STILL dream, even now; you WILL get through this hard time; just keep thinking it is your reality. 

• The Lotus flower is showing us the Dream-time (and energy being put towards meditating about, or taking time out to see these dreams), and focus on all that we want, not on what you are not wanting anymore. Just SEE the future.

• There’s also a butterfly emerging on the card as well, and she has just come through a transformation. She once was in a cocoon, in a gestation period, and is now ready to fly. All of the imagery is floating on the backdrop of the Universe, and stars: again re-iterating that what we dream about, does come to pass. Even during this challenging time, take some time to put into words, or images what you want, & meditate on it throughout July.

• This is the #34 Card, called “Focus”. Here’s the interpretation of the card in the deck:

• This card is #34, & ALSO factors down to a 7, reiterating, to definitely DO this meditation re: your dreams in the month of July, but not just to dream about what you want... Really take the time and energy to FOCUS on it.

• So, in the meaning of the card here, it goes into detail of how to stay focused:  “Rid yourself of attitudes that are not essential to your task”. Here, it’s speaking about again, what we take the time to put our focus on:

• Are we spending time being too harsh on ourselves, not happy about we handled something, or complaining about what we can’t do, or not able to do? •• OR... are we sitting down and really trying to think of an alternative plan, with a SHIFT in attitude of how we think about “it”, or what we want to accomplish as a positive thing, & putting our mindset only to think upbeat about the plans. (ie.) Even if it’s just starting the plans, “collect your energy” and ‘focus” on learning everything about what you want to do, kind of like a “spiritual warrior”, and continue to move forward...

•• Some of the symbolism I thought was interesting with this card & the message that came out in this reading is: The conch shell is standing upon the water. This water first of all, is taking place during the astrological time of Cancer (= June 22nd-July 22nd- a Water sign)- so this is a message for right now.. We are being called pretty obviously (conch shell upright) to listen to what we intuitively know as Truth for, each one of us. Because the Moon is here (& was present in the first oracle card as well), we are being asked to pay attention to things that may be hidden at first; Also, we’re being asked to investigate until we are satisfied with the answers we get...

•On a world level, during this time, there are many questions re: the health situation (pandemic), race relations, (Black Lives Matter, & racism continuing to be exposed), & how we treat each other during these changing times, is what this is about. Also, it feels like we are SUPPOSED to stand up  & take notice of what we hear, & listen to our instincts, & follow through.

•With regards to any messages we are getting about what we are individually putting our focus upon creatively: we are supposed to listen to that too, and anything we have in the past been yearning to do, to DO IT finally, during this time!  :-)!

•Also, one last thing: the conch is kind of equivalent to the Judgement card in the Tarot deck:  With that card, Archangel Gabriel blows the horn to awaken others to distinct truths we have to pay attention to. The same goes here with this conch shell. We’re literally being “called into action” during this time!...

• So, I kind of said, “Hey, while we’re at it, let’s access some other resources I use to get messages, like the Rune stones:  The Runes are symbols that go back to the times of the Vikings (Norse) & we get many of our symbols for our alphabet (& phonetic sounds) from these. These symbols each have a special meaning, and I decided to pull 1 for this timeline, & all we’re experiencing on Earth right now.

• Here’s the message I got:  This is #24 representing the symbol below (that looks like a lightning bolt), but it is called “Sowelu” (in their language):

• This reps the energy of the Sun, as well. (ie) like our Overall starting Tarot Card (in picture #1, from Part 1 of my first post on Tumblr..) -  Here’s a closer look:

• Here’s the definition they have in the Rune book (page 1).. This definition, also comes with its own Sun meditation as well!! But the Sun, (bringing things into the Light, or a feeling of “Wholeness”), & a self-realization & understanding of what we are supposed to be focusing on, feels like the OVERALL message here of the day:

• Next, I used the Archangel Michael Oracle deck by Doreen Virtue to pose the same question, and it gave a more humanistic answer, about how we may be feeling about ourselves, and how to react if we get too harsh with ourselves as humans:

• So, there’s also a  prayer here as a guidepost, they give on the front of the card (if wanted) of what to say if this is how you may be feeling, during this challenging time.

•• Meaning of Picture #7 •• “Forgive yourself: You’ve Done Nothing Wrong”:

• Some points that this card usually stands for. (Take all with a grain of salt= Take what applies to you and leave the rest...:)

• “Archangel Michael sees that guilt is interfering with the happiness you seek. You’re blaming yourself for something that’s in the past, but it’s tine to let it go -- esp. since self-blame is unproductive & unhealthy. In truth,  you’ve done nothing wrong. You were doing the best you could at the time.”

• Possible specific meanings: 1) Think and speak lovingly about yourself; 2) Stop ruminating about the past; 3) Send blessings to those you’re angry with as a way of healing yourself and the situation; 4) Know that you can’t control other people’s feelings or reactions.

• Some points that this card usually stands for. (Again, take all with a grain of salt= Take what applies to you and leave the rest...:)

• “Archangel Michael has been guiding you along the path of your life’s purpose. Can you feel the rush of excitement whenever you think about your desired occupation & activities? This is a signal that you’re on the right path, and this card reminds you to keep a steady eye on your goals. Continually visualize that you already have the career or volunteer work of your dreams. See yourself helping people or issues that are dear to your heart.   

• Imagine that you have complete financial security while you devote yourself to this important work.

• Any desire you have is viable, as long as you stay focused upon it. The path to making your intentions a reality may differ from your expectations, yet the outcome is likely to exceed. your dreams. Know that the angels walk beside you throughout your journey. Keep the faith... and KEEP GOING!” ”

• Possible specific meanings: 1) Make a “dream Board”: using construction paper, create a collage with cutout photos & phrases from magazines that reflect your dreams; 2) Affirm daily that your dreams are already a reality.

SUMMATION:

• These oracle cards are putting the focus back onto us as the motivators of our own reality, and what we believe will come to pass:

• These are somewhat speaking of the larger picture in this last card, when it includes the possibility of us all helping people or issues that are dear to our hearts. 

• The main theme in both of these Archangel cards is to continue to have the faith we will get through this hard time, and to “Keep the Faith” & to “Keep Focused” through it all, even though we may have many things swirling around in the world today that could distract us.

• Last message: We all have to hang in there, and Keep Going” no matter what.

•• Hope everyone sees these messages as inspiring, since that’s the spirit of Oracle cards, & Rune stones = To give you that “slice of life” look into the energy of what may be occurring right now, and to give encouraging words or a different view of how to look at something, that we may have missed.

• Sometimes, (as in the case of this particular Rune stone today), there are even instructions on special prayers towards abundance or giving thanks out into the Universe.••

I did a yes/no reading for this question!I pulled sowelu, an irreversable rune. irreversable runes tend to mean maybe.Bonus:Sowelu is Victory and success! Though to some it is a trip to the inner world for balance. Its time to admit something long denied.👁‍🗨Best wishes!
