in the ura + ichi time travel au kaien was (understandably) concerned that ichigo suddenly started hanging out with kisuke. what would kaien's opinion of ichigo and aizen hanging out be, though? since aizen was a generally well liked person back then and all that. would kaien see aizen as a good influence on ichigo or do you think he would be more reserved about it?

…I accidentally shoehorned Shinji into this whoops.
Anyway, you mean in the Aizen&Ichigo time travel verse right? Hmm well I know I dropped several hints in SP of Kaien (and a few others) knowing that there was something not-good up with Aizen, but canonically speaking, literally nobody except Shinji ever suspected him, so I think in this verse, I’m going to go with Kaien being one of the many who think that Aizen is just a reliable Shinigami and a generally upstanding guy. He doesn’t hero-worship him like the younger/lower-ranking Shinigami but he respects Aizen as a fellow lieutenant and the Fifth was really lucky to manage nabbing him for their squad.
So here, Kaien couldn’t prevent Ichigo from joining the Twelfth under that Very Suspicious Character Urahara (and he soon learns the impossibility that is trying to prevent Ichigo from doing anything he sets his mind to), so he’s relieved when word gets around that even after graduation, Ichigo still spends time with that Fifth Division lieutenant/part-time teacher because it means he has some regular Good Influence in his life. The Soul King knows Ichigo doesn’t spend much time with anyone else, doesn’t seem to have any close friends from his year in the Academy either or even just squadmates he can grab drinks with, so Kaien’s glad his cousin has at least one person he seems to like enough to hang out with, even if a friendship between a fresh graduate and a lieutenant is rather odd. Aizen doesn’t seem to mind either, which is also a bit of a shock because for all that the man has a reputation for helping students and subordinates alike, Kaien’s never heard of him spending time outside of work and teaching spars and classes with one. And as far as Kaien knows, he doesn’t think Aizen has any friends he hangs out with either. He’s polite and relatively friendly when he speaks to any of his colleagues, but it’s always work work work for that man. Kaien doesn’t know how he does it.
Still, he appreciates the time Aizen is taking out of his schedule these days to meet up with Ichigo for meals. On occasion, they can even be seen walking together back to their respective divisions. It’s odd, but it’s also pretty clear they’re friends, and so of course, when New Year’s swings around, Kaien wastes no time extending an invitation to Aizen as well to attend the Shibas’ annual celebrations.
He’s not surprised when Aizen - politely - turns him down. He seems that kind of guy. So Kaien moves on to Plan B - he goes to Ichigo, expounds on the elaborate festivities that will be taking place at the party, waxes poetic about how disappointed everyone will be if Ichigo can’t come, and then drops an offhand mention of how he’d tried to invite Ichigo’s friend Aizen too just so Ichigo would have someone he knew with him, not to mention Aizen doesn’t seem to have anyone to celebrate with anyway, but the lieutenant had turned him down.
Ichigo is fuming and scowling and looks about two seconds away from depriving the Thirteenth of their lieutenant, and Kaien very carefully does not show his glee as Ichigo shouts, “We’re not friends!”, looking appalled for some reason, before storming off, and Kaien can feel his reiatsu signature heading directly for the Fifth Division compound.
Mission accomplished.
(“And I should attend this function with you because…?” Aizen enquires, raising a delicately skeptical eyebrow.
Ichigo glowers at everything. “Well I’m not going alone. Kaien said they’re gonna be partying all night. I’m not suffering through that on my own!”
“Then turn the invitation down.”
“I can’t do that! Kuukaku apparently already told everyone I’ll be going, and Kaien said the kids are all looking forward to meeting me properly!”
Aizen’s other eyebrow joins his first, and he could not look more judgemental if he tried. “That still does not explain why I have to go. The fact that you are a pushover for small children is entirely your own fault.”
Ichigo reminds himself that he cannot actually reach across the table and strangle the bastard, no matter how much he wants to. He tries changing tactics instead. “Come on, it’s not like you have anything to do anyway-”
“On the contrary, I have a new book I wish to-”
“-and Kaien told me he invited you too so obviously you’ll also be expected to show up, and I’m not gonna quit badgering you about it until you agree!”
Aizen’s brow crinkles ever so slightly at the mention of Kaien. “Hm, well-played,” He murmurs, but before Ichigo can ask what he means, he continues smoothly, “I have already turned him down, so your argument is invalid. No one will be expecting me, and even if they will be, unlike you,” He beams like the super creepy virtuous Shinigami almost everyone thinks he is, which never fails to make Ichigo cringe. “I do not care in the slightest.”
Ichigo twitches before crossing his arms so that he’s less tempted to do something rash. “Well too bad! You still owe me for being evil and stalker-y, so suck it up and pick out a nice outfit because you’re going even if I have to drag you there!”
Aizen sighs long-sufferingly. “Exactly how long do you plan on trying to hold that over my head, Ichigo-kun?”
“Forever,” Ichigo retorts. “Now are you coming or are we gonna throw down over this?”
Aizen levels a flat look on him. Ichigo glares back. The two of them remain in stubborn silence for several minutes, and eventually it’s Ichigo who cracks because Aizen is a heartless monster with unrepentant stalker tendencies.
“Fine,” Ichigo huffs. “How ‘bout I show you a reishi trick I figured out recently?” Something like interest sparks in Aizen’s eyes. So predicable. “I’ve been experimenting. It’s not something I ever saw Yhwach or any of his minions do, or even Ishida or his dad, so it’s probably not something you know. But only if you come with me to the party. I’ll show you afterewards.”
Aizen watches him for a moment longer before a smirk curls at one corner of his mouth. “You’re learning.” Then he sighs, way too dramatically in Ichigo’s opinion. “Very well, but if it is something I already know, then you’ll owe me three months of manual labour in the form of paperwork. Agreed?”
Ichigo makes a face. “What? No way! One month at most.”
“Two.”
“One and one week and no more, asshole. I swear to god I am not above kicking your extortioning ass across Seireitei if you try to up that! Besides, I’m pretty sure you don’t know what I’ll be showing you anyway so it’s a pointless bargain.”
Aizen looks amused now. “Then it should hardly matter.”
Ichigo scowls. “It’s the principle of the matter. Well?”
Aizen inclines his head. “I agree to these terms. What time is this celebration?”
Ichigo grins, triumphant.)
Kaien cackles like a supervillain when he gets - very grudging - confirmation that both Ichigo and Aizen would be attending the New Year celebrations at the Shiba compound.
Fast forward a few weeks and Shinji narrowly avoids spraying tea all over Ukitake when Kaien strides back in to the dining hall and announces his cousin and Aizen Sousuke’s presence, both of whom enter behind the clan head, one with a scowl, the other with a cordial smile. They get seated between Kaien and Kuukaku, across from Shinji, Kyouraku, and Ukitake, and for a moment, Shinji’s gaze meet his lieutenant’s.
“Good evening, Taichou,” Aizen greets him, mild as milk, but even though his expression is perfectly calm, there’s something about it anyway that makes Shinji think he’s probably laughing on the inside.
“Sou-chan, what a surprise,” Shinji sighs and goes about refilling his cup. He needs way more sake than what’s on the table to survive the rest of this night.
They don’t really talk for the rest of the party. They’ve never really had casual conversations before. Even Shinji’s regular teasing when it comes to Aizen is at least partly to try and get a rise out of his frustratingly secretive lieutenant. And as long as Shinji’s known him, Aizen’s never really been one for celebrations. He attends captain/lieutenant functions when it’s required of him, and even then he only stays just long enough that it wouldn’t be rude when he excuses himself. He never goes out for drinks or meals, and he definitely never goes out with anyone just for fun.
Until Shiba Ichigo of course. Shinji still doesn’t know how those two work.
But, he soon realizes, the party is a perfect excuse to subtly observe them in a public setting, and that brightens his mood exponentially.
And what he observes…
It’s… odd, their interactions, which Shinji already knew from glimpses of them at the Fifth. But that was a work setting, and this isn’t, and that apparently makes a lot of difference. Or maybe it’s just that they’ve gotten closer since the last time Shinji saw them.
Even at the more casual captain/lieutenant get-togethers, Shinji recalls, Aizen stayed on the sidelines, in the background. He spoke when spoken to, and he kept any conversation going effortlessly, never dominating and always making the other party feel like he was interested in whatever topic they’d struck up even though Shinji is certain that couldn’t be farther from the truth. But he never really engaged other people of his own volition, and no matter how polite, it always felt - at least to Shinji - that he couldn’t wait to leave and get away from the annoyances that kept him from attending to whatever it was he was doing behind Shinji’s back.
He doesn’t do that here, doesn’t stay on the outside. Or rather, Ichigo won’t let him. When Kaien drags Ichigo into a conversation, Ichigo drags Aizen right along wtih him, and that wouldn’t be so jarring, but then some of the younger Shiba children shyly sidle up and ask to play tag with their newest cousin, and Ichigo folds like wet paper and agrees, but he also invites Aizen, who protests and is promptly ignored, and Shinji is treated to the mind-boggling sight of Aizen awkwardly - as awkward as Shinji’s ever seen him - playing tag with a bunch of children.
Surely he’s woken up in a parallel universe without realizing earlier?
Then there’s the fireworks display, and Ichigo drags Aizen off to show him how to set off a bunch of them. There’s desserts passed around, and Ichigo looks positively mournful when he’s too slow to get any of the kagami mochi before they’re all gone. Shinji almost chokes on his own taiyaki when Aizen visibly smirks at Ichigo, even taunting the kid with his own dessert, but after a round of mocking and scowl-pouting, the man also sighs before shoving his own plate of mochi at Ichigo and snags Ichigo’s leftover dango instead. Ichigo immediately brightens, and although his scowl never leaves his face, he somehow looks years younger with how ridiculously happy he is about a simple dessert.
And when even Aizen looks like he can’t take anymore socializing after the twelfth time someone accosts him for chitchat, Ichigo whisks him off somewhere, and Shinji doesn’t see them again until he catches their silhouettes on the roof as the night sky lights up with Kuukaku’s personal fireworks finale.
It’s… odd. Shinji can’t really find any other word for it, and by the time he takes his leave, the interactions he’s seen weigh on him more than he’s comfortable with.
These days, it feels like the Aizen Sousuke he’s always known was a completely different man from this one. Then of course, when he’s not interacting with Ichigo, he’s exactly like the man Shinji’s always known - polite and friendly and so utterly fake that it makes Shinji wonder if his colleagues are all brain-dead for not noticing.
Aizen looks at the world like he’s above it all, or maybe like he’s simply indifferent to everything, Shinigami and the Gotei and Soul Society alike.
But he looks at Ichigo like he’s actually seeing a person, and that perhaps is the biggest reason why Shinji cannot reconcile the two versions of his lieutenant.
He’s never known Aizen Sousuke to care about anyone. And Shinji’s not certain what to do about it now that he does.
Unbeknownst to Shinji, Kaien observes them too, and unlike Shinji, he likes what he sees. It’s odd, yes - Shinigami fresh out of school and even just lower-ranked ones in general simply don’t interact with their higher-ups in so familiar a manner. But Ichigo’s always been odd all on his own, and they’re not even part of the same division so nobody can call favouritism anyway, and so long as Ichigo’s fine with it, that’s all Kaien cares about.
He sees everything Shinji does tonight, and it lifts a weight from his shoulders. He’d been worried about his long-lost cousin, uncomfortable amongst family, and too strong to make friends easily at the Academy. Depending on Urahara to look out for his newest subordinate is laughable at best, and Kaien knows better than anyone that Shibas aren’t meant to be isolated. Ichigo’s introverted and a private person in general, but he’s not so different when it comes down to it. At the very least, he doesn’t seem as stressed compared to the first several months he first came into Kaien’s life, and Kaien doesn’t think he’s wrong when he contributes part of that to the Fifth Division lieutenant.
And Aizen too… well, it’s harder to tell with him. But he treats Ichigo like a friend, occasionally indulgent in a way that’s actually not unlike the way Kaien would treat a younger sibling himself, and that’s something Kaien’s never seen Aizen do with anyone else. Sure, he indulges students when they want his attention, and lower-ranked Shinigami when they want his advice, but there’s always a line in the sand with them, one he never toes. He makes himself approachable and likeable with them, and half of them go away nursing crushes.
He’s not like that with Ichigo. He doesn’t make himself anything, as far as Kaien can see. No gentle smiles anywhere. Mostly just smirks that borderline nasty, but flashes of exasperated fondness too. He’s just himself, and Ichigo takes it in stride, and maybe that’s why they’re friends.
It’s odd. But Kaien can’t complain when Ichigo’s happier these days, and he makes a mental note himself to catch Aizen later and tell him he’s welcome back to the Shiba compound anytime.

Roomies PARTII on A03
Felicity is dashing around her bathroom trying to look presentable. Darn Thomas Merlyn for the jerk called her out. She hates that he knows how she feels for his stupid friend. She really doesn’t want to like Oliver Queen as much as she does. She really doesn’t. The problem is that her head and heart aren’t aligned right when it comes to this particular guy.
She doesn’t want to be one of those girls that gushes over a guy like him. He’s got the most beautiful baby blues she has ever seen. She remembers having to shake herself out after seeing them and being slightly embarrassed at how she caught him observing her. At least she didn’t go overboard with a babble to make her run for the hills. Tommy just introduced them for a slight brief moment. This is when their relationship wasn’t as defined as it is now. So much gray area to work with.
Looking at the mirror as she finishes applying her eye makeup. It’s her normal smoky look. If Tommy is being truthful and Oliver actually does like her, she wants him to like her for who she really is. Hearing the doorbell, she peeks outside the bathroom to make sure Tommy at least closed her bedroom door.
Gosh she feels the butterflies in her stomach like every other time this wretched guy is near. How does he do it? Walk around and make girls hearts flutter? Sighing out loud she really dislikes that she is being like this but she can’t deny this is the boy of her dreams… literally her dreams.
She gets goosebumps thinking of the things she would love to do with him. Wondering if he is the kind of role playing guy as she’ll love to dominate but in the same sense of the word be his submissive lover. Her mind is now going overboard and she hasn’t even seen him yet. Her body flushed. Maybe thinking of bedroom antics with him isn’t the best idea because her panties won’t survive this encounter.
Glad that all these visits Oliver has had to Boston he’d stay at a hotel there be no way she could live with him in this residence with her. She’s hid in her room all the time. Taking a last look at herself in the wall mirror she readies herself. Maybe things won’t be so awkward and they’ll all survive unscathed in this lunch thing they are about to have.
Tommy is chuckling as he hears a curse come from her lips. He gets up from his comfy spot on her bed. For a girl who loves the Goth look it is surprising that she has a teal bedcover and some floral designed pillows on her bed. Mildly surprised there have never been any metal or hard rock band posters on these walls. Instead she has Buddha and other Zen like stuff sprawled out in her room. If she didn’t carry her heart on her sleeve he’d have no idea that she is so sweet and nurturing. The saying about don’t judge a book by its cover, she is falls into that proverb easily. The girl excludes leave me alone but is a soft sweet bunny who gives really nice hugs.
He won’t even mention how feisty she is in bed because that is of the past. Giving that up has been hard but it’s for the best especially if he’s trying to fix his two best friends like some sort of cupid. Finding out by Oliver in a roundabout way by asking by him questions that always pertain to Felicity. He started catching on to that side of the equation and then finally seeing how Felicity shows her telltale signs of arousal. She’d deny it if he pointed those facts out. Doesn’t she know he’s slept with her and gotten to know her well. She’s really remarkable.
As for being the guy to bring these two lug heads together he wouldn’t try if he knew Oliver was going to just use Felicity that wouldn’t fly with him. As for Felicity well she can be seen as heartless that is just because she shots for the truth and sometimes its seen as cold and calculated but the girl is so pure in spirit she’d never wrong people like that. Knowing there is a true spark between them he’ll play this match-maker game. Sometimes true love needs a push.
As predicted the doorbell rings and he goes to open it and allow Oliver to check out his new residency. Oliver is a proactive student so he’ll be taking some summer classes. Tommy knows his best bud is wondering what Felicity thinks of him moving in. Being he hasn’t told her yet he wants to spring this surprise on her. Catch her real reaction and not the cool thought out response she’d give. Those two will be here alone together. He’ll be back in Starling because his dad wants to show him the rope to a certain division.
“What smells so good?”
“Like you don’t know.” Oliver laughs as he walks in with the takeout.
“You made sure there is no nuts in any of this?”
“Yep, told them in a monotone fashion about a deadly reaction to tree nuts. Even made sure to look through.”
“Wow! I didn’t think you’d be that careful.”
“Tommy? You said she’s deadly allergic. She is, right?”
“Yes. Though the extra thoughtfulness into it was a sweet gesture.” Moving to the dining room.
“Well it be a disaster if I try to kill one of my roommates before I even move in.” Oliver places the two bags down and begins to ruffle through taking the containers out.
“Especially if you have the hots for the girl.”
Oliver sways his head. “Can it. I don’t want to spook her. I don’t think she likes me anyways.”
“Dude, I said she has those doe eyes for you.”
“Yea, yea. Whatever. It doesn’t mean she likes me in that way.”
“Guess you’ll find out.” That only makes Oliver blow out some air. “She’s getting cleaned up for lunch. She took out some cutesy lounge pants but I doubt she’ll wear that.”
“Have you been teasing her?”
“You bet your ass I have. Just like I’ve been getting you all riled up. There is some love in the air.”
“We don’t really know each other.”
“I know you want to know her. I also know you’ve held off your…” Tommy uses his index fingers as he says, “Get into your panties charm” Tommy dropping his hands, “In those moments she’s around so I’m telling you there is potential here.”
“Okay, I suppose we are about to find out!”
Both guys turn to face where the sound of Felicity’s bedroom door is opening. Tommy makes the first move as he whistles. Felicity wants to tell him to knock it off but with Oliver here she doesn’t want to sound like a prude. Tommy has a smirk as he bumps his best friend’s arm and tells Oliver to collect his jaw from the floor loud enough for Felicity to hear.
“Well true introductions are in order.” Tommy walks to Felicity who is at a standstill just before entering the dining room. “Felicity? We don’t bite.” A sly smile shows on his face because the arched eyebrow of hers tells of a different story. “You know what I really mean. Come on.” He takes her hand and begins to lightly pull her towards Oliver.
Tommy is perplexed by both of their behaviors; neither have ever shown this reluctant side. His Oliver would have already introduced himself and his girl Felicity would have had added some snarky intro to the mix. Yet, neither really are doing anything but bashfully looking at each other. These two are really filling in for all the stereotypes he never thought these two would exhibit. Guess it be more work for him but payback could be a toast he’d give at their wedding. He inwardly shrugs that thought is way off kilter now that these two haven’t said a word to one another.
“Guys, introductions start with hi, hello, or some other lame wordings but this psyche thing you two have going on is weird so come on. Talk!”
Oliver shakes his head at Tommy’s words he’s just been in awe and it’s not that he doesn’t know what to do he’s just overanalyzing everything and maybe that is the problem so he takes a breath and finally talks. “Hi, I’m…”
“You’re Oliver Queen, and I’m…”
“Felicity Smoak, Tommy’s roomie.” She just nods to his words.
“Damn, you two are killing it.” Tommy rolls his eyes. These two are beyond pitiful even though the way these two are looking at each other it does look like their having a wordless conversation.
“I brought a favorite dish Tommy says you like.” She finally moves up to where Oliver grabs her food container as proof. “I made sure there is no allergenic ingredients in there.”
“Thank you.” Her hands shoot out to take it and Tommy just watches the scene as he grabs his food and just sits down to witness what can be a disaster in the making or a match made in heaven. Right now he leaning at 60% in favor of future nuptials.
“You’re welcome.” The smile he gives her is a smile Tommy has never seen. Like where did that smile come from? He’s known Oliver which kind of feels like forever and that boy has different sly smiles, endearing ones, and plain goofy ones but now he has a certain one just for Felicity Smoak. Shit, Felicity is going to own his best buddy’s ass. No doubt in his mind he’ll be whipped by the end of summer… what is he saying? The ‘there is no woman out there for me Queen’ will be whipped by the end of this lunch date. Tommy is witnessing the end of an era where Oliver will even notice another girl. Okay, maybe he is being dramatic about this but in his bones he just thought Felicity would push him to be better. Now he gets the feeling his best buddy is going to bend over backwards to change. Oh the boy is doomed being he’s is moving in where the object of his affection will be staring at him through thick and thin times.
Felicity sits by Tommy’s side where she feels comfortable as Oliver just sits directly opposite the two. It’s quiet at first as they take in their meals. Tommy finally having enough, starts talking about hobbies.
“Felicity, here as a thing for painting little acrylic statues she buys with fingernail polish. The girl has loads of polish in her room.”
Felicity doesn’t know if her first instinct to stab Tommy with her fork would be bad table manners as she’s chewing the inside of her cheek while envisioning his doom.
“You like to paint? I wish I could draw but I butcher it in ways I never thought possible.”
“Really? Drawing relaxes me. It’s my go to when I just don’t feel like reading.”
“Oh the girl loves to read. Just this morning she was…”
“Tommy! There is no need to list all the things you know about me.” She gives him a hard stare.
“Pfft.” Tommy says back. He knows her agitated looks but he’s not backing down and keeps talking about the book she is into. Describing the woman who is passionate about her hunk of a man. It leads to him getting kicked under the table. “Ouch!” He gives her a what the hell look.
Oliver is taking in the two before him. They are very comfortable in each other’s presence. Knowing of their shared romantic past is a little tricky. How easily Tommy can wave off her annoyance and the daggers she can give him but still holding a nicety that comes from creating deep emotional bonds.
He can’t say he isn’t envious. When his best friend mentioned her as a possible catch for him. He thought that his best friend was just being absurd. They aren’t ones to share past girlfriends. Though since every time afterward he would mention this Felicity girl he only met once and for a brief moment. His friend always saying something nice. It was strange at first but then he just enjoyed the Smoak bits he’d get and man his buddy had so many pics and videos on his phone. From a distance he got to see some quirky moments of hers and he bets she doesn’t even know of any of this.
He’s already intrigued by her mannerisms. She’s got amazing eyes that held him in a deadbolt stance as he just enjoyed looking into them. It didn’t hurt that she has such a lovely face. Her eyes pop even more with the smoky eye makeup. He can’t forget how perfect her lips are with the deep rich color she chooses to emphasize those kissable lips.
Living here will be interesting in the least. He’ll see the true dynamic of his best friend and the girl Tommy is trying to hook him up with. With his best friend’s stipulation that he doesn’t date anyone while in this transition. He agreed. If it doesn’t work out he’ll go back to socializing and if it does work out well than maybe Tommy will get to be the best man. Oliver just lightly sighs at all the possibilities. Which gets Felicity’s attention as her piercing eyes search his and he thinks she finds what she’s looking for before she turns back to her food. He then notices a second pair of eyes observing him. Oliver just nods before digging back into his own food. It’s quiet for a long stretch of time. Other than pleasantries of handing napkins or little food etiquette. Each one in their own thoughts periodically looking at each other but letting the comfortable silence consume them.
“Either of you have plans for later?” Oliver asks looking between the other two people at the table. “I have a late flight but otherwise I’m in Boston for the day and my hotel room is quite boring.”
“Thought we would hang near Yawkey Way.” Tommy supplied. “The stadium is renting out to this group that does individual fitness games. It quite cool. Felicity got me into it last year.”
“Thanks Tommy, I only heard about it and then told you about it.”
“Yep, went with few of the guys I know and watched. It’s an all-out fitness regime more than I can handle but I enjoyed being a spectator.”
“Okay that sounds cool. I don’t know a lot about the Red Sox either maybe we can check out some merchandise especially if I’ll be living here soon.”
That gets Felicity’s ears to perk up. “You mean living in Boston? Or here, here?”
Tommy mums his lips for a second before he answers for Oliver, “Oliver is coming to live with us. Starting this summer.”
“Oh!”
“I probably should have told you but anyways surprise!”
Felicity just bobbles her head. A part of her wants to scream but that would be overkill. She just looks at her friend and wonders what she can do to make him sleep uncomfortable tonight. Maybe go hunting for some slimy wiggling things to put between his bedsheets.
Tommy can feel the displeasure radiate from her. Not because Oliver is moving in but how the conversation of Oliver coming to live here has come about, “Let me tell you a warning Oliver… When she gives you this look you know she is super annoyed.”
“No offense Oliver but I just can’t believe Tommy here kept this information from me.”
“Tommy has a way with words or sometimes a lack of it. Known him all my life. He loves to surprise people.”
“Oh, goodie. I would hate to think he would do this just with me.” Her eyes bare into Tommy’s and he finally shrugs.
“This would be one of those times if we were in a relationship I wouldn’t be getting lucky latter huh?” She gives him a dirty look. “Okay, defiantly would get a happy ending later.”
Oliver laughs at the two. “I am going to enjoy living here.”
Tommy squirms as Felicity’s finger is poking at his side. He answers his buddy,  “Yea, you’d defiantly will even when this one is angry at you.”
Felicity turns to Oliver and all the shyness she’s held onto this point evaporates as she states the house rules, “No bimbos, no narcotics, and the toilet seat in the shared bathroom better always be down!”
Oliver turns to Tommy for a story and Tommy just shakes his head. “Long story!”
That is how these three come to live with one another.

Papers flying in the air as Felicity pushes whatever she can as she looking for a flash drive, she had on this desk just this morning. She has had a lot on her plate as she has taken a co-op to be a mentor to what was upcoming freshmen. The summer was hectic for sure. They weren’t able to get away after the ceremony where they declared their love to each. Now that summer is almost coming to an end Felicity will be back in full-mode student and Oliver will be working at a Queen Consolidated branch in the city.
“Oliver, have you seen my red flash drive?”
“No honey. I haven’t.” He comes out of their shared bathroom still brushing his teeth.
“I swore I left it here before bed last night.” She can see a spark of delight cross Oliver’s face. He loves this whole new setup. He’s now a graduate and still living in Boston to be near Felicity. She still has a few more semesters till she’s completely done.
From the moment of that lunch scenario that led him to moving in. They hit it off. Thomas Merlyn knew them to well it seems. Their friend may now be back living in Starling, they remain here together.
“Hmm… well weren’t you also looking at our wedding photos taken in Vegas?”
Felicity places her hand on her head in an argh fashion wondering why she forgot. She was looking for one where both her mother and mother-in-law were by her side. The marriage happened on a whim and well the Queens and anyone else who was relevant made it to their impromptu wedding. She just nods even though Oliver can’t see her as he is back in the washroom rinsing his mouth.
“I promised your mom I’d find a picture to give her for one of her society pages.”
He walks back out again and this time makes a beeline to her. “Okay, though you need to relax babe.”
“Oliver?” He gotten to know her way to well and even so he is always learning something new about her. He already tipping her chin up as he’s looking down with fascination. He is married to this intelligent beauty.
“You are about to tell me that you slept enough, have an exercise routine, and all the other things to placid me on worrying.”
She really doesn’t like him worrying, “You don’t have to worry about me. I’m fine.”
“Why don’t you get finished dressing up and I’ll look for this flash drive.”
“Okay, thanks.” He leaves her to go to where she was hunting through a bunch of photos that got taken. Neither expected to have that many pictures. Looking around the small box he sees nothing until he moves the comfy pillow she used as a backrest. The drive partially stuffed into the side cushion. Taking it, he is relieved that she won’t go in a freak mode tearing the place apart for a small thumb sized tech gear. He also notices the picture she will send his mom and picks it up. He is overjoyed that these three women show elated smiles. He was worried a bit when he called his parents and told them he was getting married that upcoming weekend while visiting Felicity’s mother. No one said it outright but everyone thinking there is a bun in the oven. Unfortunately for all their assumptions they didn’t get married for that reason because for one; neither him or Felicity have any clue if that is on the table. He knows they’ve been careful so he doubts it very much.
As Felicity comes out of their bedroom she jumps in a certain joyous fashion as she takes the drive from his hand. He can see the stress melt off her. He supposes this is the best time to talk to her about something. He would like to go with his dad on the Gambit. Though he wouldn’t fathom going without her by his side. As newlyweds his mere thoughts are on her and being without her for two weeks would never suffice.
“Felicity?” She still in cloud nine and just nods waiting for him to continue. “There is a three-week time span that’s coming up and I was hoping you and I could get away.”
“Away?”
“Think of it like the honeymoon we never got.”
“Oliver, school will start not too soon after I’m…”
“Honey!” He takes both her hands onto his. “We could have a chance.” He gives her his best puppy eyes. “A real chance to have a nice getaway. The Gambit taking off to China.”
“It would be weird to be lovey dovely with your dad on board.”
“Felicity, we’ve been married for a short time I can’t leave you for two weeks. I guess I’ll just have to tell my dad it was a nice offer…”
“You’re really adding this guilt trip on me?”
“Only if it’s working?”
“Ah! Fine. I’ll need to bring some equipment with me but I don’t want you to miss out on spending quality dad-son time.”
“You are the best.”
“That is only because I love you but once we get to solid land, we are taking a plane back. Not missing one class.”
“Okay, okay.” He happily kisses her. “The plane situation sounds great. I love you.”
“Fine, you can tell your dad we’ll embark on the Gambit with him for this trip.”
To be continued on next prompt…

Better KH2 AU: re:coded
This is mostly plot/system overhaul since the game is already fun to play. Under a cut because this was more detailed than I was expecting:
Viruses would have to be enabled by a cheat. So you’ll only be forced to wager all your SP if you have decided that the risk was worth it, but the cheat simply allows the player to raise the likeliness of it happening from 0% to 100% (not that I’d recommend deliberately making every floor of a system sector have a virus because nobody is that good).
Additionally “Play at night” wouldn’t be a thing.
re:coded would be on the 3DS instead of the DS.
The secret message Jiminy finds would actually magically appear as he’s going through the journal. Mickey would suggest that turning the journal into data might help them find other hidden messages.
There would be stakes as early as before Data-Sora’s created, with Chip and Dale noting that the Bugs are deleting the journal.
Data-Sora would start the game as slightly robotic and less emotive, coming across as emulating what Sora’s journal entry says instead of just being dumber Sora.
Data-Sora would switch to a wooden sword when fighting Tidus, with “Busting up on the Beach” making its triumphant return.
Data-Sora would ask if Tidus, Selphie, and Wakka if they’ve seen Riku anywhere, but none of them have any helpful answers.
When Data-Sora investigates the Secret Place, he’d encounter a hooded figure and a Shadow. With both vanishing into the Keyhole.
Data-Sora would express worry for Destiny Islands, with Mickey explaining that, since the blocks are gone, the island isn’t in danger of being deleted.
Data-Sora wouldn’t quite know what deleting means but assumes that it doesn’t matter since it won’t be happening if he keeps debugging the worlds.
It’s incredibly blatant that Data-Sora doesn’t know that he’s a computer program, and Mickey would be more than happy to keep things that way.
Mickey would actually try to use his Keyblade on the door, but would be shocked when it doesn’t actually work (this would later be revealed to be due to the fact that the door was actually just a texture at this point and not a real door).
The puzzle pieces Huey, Dewey, and Louie are holding would actually form an incomplete Keyhole instead of all of them being a weird Tetris-esque L-block.
The hearts the fake Emblem Heartless release would be pixelated, to signify that they aren’t real hearts being released.
Data-Riku would hint to Sora that it’s just like what “she” said would happen, before vanishing.
When Data-Sora meets Alice, Mickey would comment that she’s a Princess of Heart, like Kairi. Data-Sora would reveal that he doesn’t know who Kairi is.
At the end of Wonderland, Data-Riku would take Data-Sora to the digital copy of Disney Castle, explaining that he felt that Data-Sora deserved to know the truth, but also that, since his appearance has since stabilized, he can finally appear to the others in his true form.
He’d still reveal that Mickey and co were brought into the Datascape.
Data-Riku would then explain that, prior to the Datascape’s creation, the Journal had previously been turned into data by a girl, whom had done so to place a pure, unaltered version of the journal within him, and warned him that the next time he woke up, the worlds would be in danger, due to a very vital piece of the Journal being missing.
Data-Riku would guess that Kairi is this missing piece, since neither he nor Data-Sora know who she is, and yet Mickey was surprised to know that Data-Sora didn’t know about her. Mickey would then explain that in the real world, she motivated both Sora and Riku to undergo their journeys in the first place, and that without her, Sora’s and Riku’s first adventure might have never happened.
Data-Riku then surmises that the Bugs are the Journal’s way of coping with Kairi’s disappearance. Without her, Sora never went on his adventure, and Riku never fell to darkness, meaning that the nothing in the journal makes sense, and so it uses the Bugs to fill in the cracks, which only serves to make the problem worse. Data-Riku then guesses that’s why the data’s backed up inside of him. If the Bugs were to completely corrupt the Journal, then they’d need that pure data.
Data-Sora would then ask about the inhabitants of the digital worlds, and what will happen to them if the data is completely corrupted. Data-Riku would state that, odds are, they’d all be deleted, since they are made of that same Data. He then says that Data-Sora should be safe, so long as he stays in the uncorrupted worlds.
Not about to let anyone die, Data-Sora instead says to send him to the next world that needs debugging, stating that even if they’re made of data, he can’t allow them to disappear. Data-Riku then points out that Sora’s made of ones and zeroes too, so he’s in as much danger of being corrupted and deleted if he goes to the remaining worlds. Data-Sora doesn’t care, and says that he has to fight the Bugs. Mickey would point out that Data-Sora was programmed to help fight the Bugs, so it wouldn’t make much sense for him to stand by and do nothing. Data-Riku relents, and opens a gateway to the next world, before warning Data-Sora that, if he’s corrupted and deleted, loading a back-up will just create a new Data-Sora, and not bring him back from the dead. Data-Sora states that he understands, and simply asks that if anything happens to him, that they be kind to the next Data-Sora.
The extra bosses in Olympus Colisseum’s extra layers of the Labyrinth would be the Rock Titan, the Ice Titan, and Sephiroth, instead of the Rock Titan, a Behemoth, and the Ice Titan, since if I remember correctly the KH1 Sephiroth battle wasn’t retconned out of continuity in this AU.
The ending would be changed to have an extra scene with Cloud if Data-Sora saved him. Depending on which of the four bosses was fought, Data-Sora could get an Overclock Command, Metal Chocobo, Diamond Dust, or One Winged Angel.
Hades would hint that someone actually taught him how to manipulate the Bugs to warp the labyrinth to his advantage, foreshadowing Pete.
Pete would reveal that he had gotten past the Cornerstone of Light by using a Gummi Ship, and that since he wasn’t in the room when everyone inside was transported into a digital copy, he instead found himself floating between the data worlds, and that Maleficent was able to bypass the Cornerstone of Light by teleporting to him.
When Pete leaves, Data-Riku warns Data-Sora that Pete and Maleficent are accelerating the corruption of the Datascape by manipulating the Bugs with darkness.
In the section of Agrabah where time is stopped, running out of time would actually cause a game over.
Maleficent would use Bug Blox to destroy Data-Sora’s fake Keyblade.
After Data-Riku is captured, and the fake Keyblade is destroyed the implications of being made of data finally start to sink in for Data-Sora, who bitterly points out that he’s not the real Sora when Donald and Goofy point out how he’s never given up on any of their previous adventures, even snapping at them for how they keep treating him, before deciding to go to Hollow Bastion and save Data-Riku himself, Keyblade or no.
When Goofy saves him from the Heartless, he’d remark that it doesn’t matter if he’s the “real” Sora or not, he should’ve been more considerate of how Data-Sora felt, and that the fact that he’s made of data shouldn’t stop them from being friends. He’d point out how in their last adventure with Sora, they befriended a computer program and helped him save his system and the real Hollow Bastion from the Heartless. Goofy would then explain that he and Donald were separated when they were attacked by some Heartless while they were running after Data-Sora.
When they find Donald, Data-Sora would apologize for losing his temper earlier, stating that it wasn’t fair for him to take out their frustrations on them like that. He’d explain that the fact that he’s not the real Sora had just sunk in and that Donald and Goofy treating him like the same old friend they had gone on two adventures with really wasn’t helping with the existential angst. Donald would then reply that just because he’s not the original Sora doesn’t make him any less real than the one they journeyed with. If he has thoughts and feelings that are his own, then it’s pretty clear that he’s more than just ones and zeroes.
As the three journey on through Hollow Bastion, Data-Sora would ask questions about the Sora outside the Datascape, and Donald and Goofy basically get the chance to tell stories and recap the previous two games, while also mentioning the time Sora came back from being a Heartless, of how they had learned about a boy named Roxas, and how the three of them had befriended Naminé after saving her from DiZ. Everything about Nobodies would basically fly right over Data-Sora’s head, but Goofy would say that they shouldn’t have to worry about them because Jiminy didn’t know about them when he recorded this journal.
The part where Pete traps Donald and Goofy would be in the Chapel instead of the Great Hall.
Donald and Goofy would be caught in Danger Blox (which damage anyone who touches them) instead of Bug Blox.
They’re motivational speech would be calling back to all of the low-points they had overcome. With Data-Sora calling back to the “My friends are my power!” moment on his own and with no prompting from Donald and Goofy.
Mickey would catch up right as Data-Sora gets his real Keyblade, explaining that he had been fighting Maleficent and wasn’t able to intervene until now.
There would be a save point in the Chapel after Data-Sora gets his Keyblade back, with the Data Keyhole being located where the Corridor of Darkness was in KH1.
Instead of “Hollow Bastion: Part II”, the portion where Data-Sora debugs Data-Riku would be called “The Datascape”, and be treated as a new world.
The second he arrives in Riku’s Data, Data-Riku would give Data-Sora the back up Journal Data, explaining that Data-Sora needs to leave with the back-ups so that Data-Riku can delete himself and be rid of the bugs once and for all, and Data-Sora can restore the worlds from the back-up.
Data-Sora would, of course, refuse, and instead decide to go through Data-Riku’s memories and debug his data.
Castle Oblivion would be unlocked for Questploration at this point, though clearing the world would be impossible until the Datascape is cleared.
When Data-Sora clears Destiny Islands, he’d ask what Data-Riku was doing in the Secret Place with a Heartless. Data-Riku would remark that that wasn’t him, and then wonder if that hooded figure might be up to trouble.
In Traverse Town, Data-Riku would explain that the reason he was so cryptic is that, underneath the hood, he was a jumbled mess of code, and that the same girl who backed up the journal’s data inside him also gave him the coat to protect him and the data from the Heartless. When Data-Sora asks why he isn’t jumbled code if he has a back-up inside himself, Data-Riku would explain that he learned from the girl’s mistake and found a way to place the data inside Data-Sora without messing up his appearance.
Otherwise, debugging Data-Riku proceeds as normal.
When Data-Sora fights Maleficent, she’d reveal that she had decided to take a page from Xehanort and control Riku from within. Data-Sora would have no clue who Xehanort is and Maleficent wouldn’t bother explaining that. Otherwise their epic conversation from the actual game would be more or less unchanged.
Sora would get Zero/One for defeating Maleficent.
When Data-Riku lets out Donald, Goofy, Mickey Mouse, and Jiminy Cricket (since Pete and Maleficent are no longer in control of the only way out), he’d remark that there might be some issues loading up the back-ups if they can’t find out what happened to Kairi’s data, since her absence is what caused the Bugs in the first place. Data-Sora would also express worry, but Data-Riku explains that he’s been using the records of Data-Sora’s adventures as a temporary placeholder, which is why replaying the episodes was even possible. And then an earthquake happens and Data-Sora suddenly realizes that he technically never finished debugging Hollow Bastion. The ground shakes and a voice announces that a complete deletion of the Datascape is already underway.
Mickey and Jiminy come to the conclusion that Maleficent must be trying to destroy the Datascape out of spite, and Data-Riku tells Data-Sora that if he can destroy the source of Hollow Bastion’s bugs, they should be able to stop Maleficent from using the Bugs to erase the entire Datascape. Data-Sora then heads into the very core of the corruption.
When Data-Sora arrives at the core of the Datascape, he tells Maleficent that he won’t let her erase the Datascape. Maleficent would reply that she’s not trying to delete the Date Escape, it’s unique properties are far too useful for her to not do so, she and Pete were simply trying to leave so that they could formulate a new plan, only to find themselves trapped in this place. It’s at this point that the rainbow Darkside shows up, Data-Sora realizes that it must be the source of the Bugs in Hollow Bastion, and Maleficent decides that she’ll simply have it obey her will like any other Heartless, with Pete questioning if now’s really the time to try that. The Darkside then announces “I don’t take orders from you!” before punching Maleficent and Pete, the two vanishing into the darkness.
Data-Sora is surprised that 1. the Darkside can talk, and 2. it sounds like him, and Data-Riku cuts in, and explains something that he feels like he should have explained a while ago: In the Journal, it was recorded that Sora had become a Heartless. Data-Sora learned about this incident from Donald and Goofy, but notes that Kairi had restored him. Data-Riku replies that yes, she did, but Kairi doesn’t exist in the Datascape, and so here, Sora never turned back. He then explains that Mickey and co didn’t create Data-Sora, they only created his Keyblade. Data-Riku actually created him from the back-up data, explaining that Sora’s data was too corrupted to wield the Keyblade.
Sora’s Heartless then remarks that it has grown stronger since their last meeting, taking the Darkside’s data for their own, and using the Heartless to grow stronger. Data-Sora then realizes that the Heartless he saw in the Secret Place with the hooded figure is actually the same Heartless standing before him now. He then replies that he’s been destroying the Heartless, and Sora’s Heartless replies that that is how it was able to grow so strong. The hooded figure taught it how to collect data from other worlds, and how Heartless release hearts when destroyed by the Keyblade. But the Heartless Data-Sora fought were not real Heartless, and so instead of releasing hearts, they released minds. Minds that Sora’s Heartless were able to combine with it’s own to grow more intelligent, and learn how to manipulate the Datascape, and, more importantly, how to escape.
When Sora’s Heartless takes on the Anti-Sora form, it would remark that all of the real Sora’s experiences are it’s own, that a mere copy cannot hope to overcome him. Data-Riku cuts in, telling Data-Sora that Sora’s Heartless is just corrupted data, it may emulate Sora’s appearance, but it can’t copy his heart. Nor can it overcome the strength of Data-Sora’s heart.
When he defeats the second form, Sora’s Heartless suddenly reappears, revealing that it figured out how to back-up it’s data, then splits into three. Data-Riku then tells Data-Sora that he’s not fighting the real Heartless, that he has to strip away all of the Bugs that Sora’s Heartless has used to upgrade itself so that he can take it out at it’s source.
When Data-Sora defeats Sora’s Heartless again, it once again takes on it’s “Neo Darkside” form, and announces that Data-Sora can’t possibly hope to defeat it, only for Mickey Mouse to hope in and blast the Darkside with a beam of light. Mickey then explains that he was watching the whole thing and figured out how to defeat Sora’s Heartless for good. The answer? He simply locked the Darkside’s data, but since this is an unconventional use of the Keyblade’s power, he needs to use all his power to keep the Darkside’s data locked. Sora’s Heartless emerges, remarking that all it needs to do is attack Mickey to put an end to this pathetic charade. Data-Sora summons his Keyblade, and thanks his Heartless for revealing itself.
Sora’s Heartless would scream as it fades away, and the Darkside would explode in a burst of light.
Data-Riku would remind Data-Sora to seal the Data Keyhole when they arrive in the Chapel, in order to put an end to the bugs once and for all. Data-Sora does so, then remarks that now all they have to do is find some way to restore Kairi’s data, and the Datascape will be ready for complete restoration. Mickey asks what happened to Maleficent and Pete, and Data-Riku replies that they vanished into the darkness. His guess is that they’ll never see them again.
Meanwhile, Maleficent and Pete are in a Corridor of Darkness. Pete remarking that that was a bust, but wonders what the point of conquering a bunch of fake worlds would be anyway. Maleficent would then reply that it wasn’t the worlds in the Date Escape that she was concerned with, but the Date Escape itself. Namely, the fact that it was able to generate entire worlds and people. That is the power that interested her. She then tells Pete that they should head back to their headquarters, as there a things she needs to tell him out of range of prying eyes and ears.
When Mickey returns to the outside world, he sees a thank you message from Data-Sora and Data-Riku. Roll credits.
This would unlock the “Debugged Ending”. But the game would suggest holding on to the Clear Data and checking out Castle Oblivion through Questploration.
Loading the Clear Data places Data-Sora in the Great Hall in Hollow Bastion (though it’s considered part of the Datascape, world-wise), just before he dove into the corrupted data, but just after he debugged Data-Riku. He can restart the Datascape Episode by selecting “Replay Episode” from the World Map, or just pick up from the side-scrolling minigame by selecting “Score Attack”.
When Data-Sora arrives at Castle Oblivion, Mickey would warn him to be careful, since the original Sora had a nasty encounter with Organization XIII in this world that cost him his memories. He explains that, this is also where the words in the Journal first disappeared, so that if Kairi’s data would be anywhere, it would be here. Data-Sora asks what these Organization people looked like so that he can keep an eye out for them, and Mickey’s voice cuts out right as the hooded figure from the Secret Place appears. He then answers Data-Sora’s question: “We typically dress in black coats.”
Data-Sora would then summon his Keyblade, and the hooded figure would tell him to relax, he already cleared out the other Organization members in this castle. He had grown to hate them, you see. He then explains that he’s not even supposed to be in the Datascape, but that he woke up in Castle Oblivion after a battle with the real Riku. Data-Sora asks him what he’s talking about, but then the hooded figure remarks that he should have paid more attention when Donald and Goofy were telling him about Nobodies and Organization XIII, before going off on a spiel on finding and losing, before explaining to Data-Sora that he can either go back to the Datascape, or try and uncover the secret of Castle Oblivion. Data-Sora’s interest is piqued, and Data-Roxas gives him a card, depicting Destiny Islands. He then tells Sora to use the card, so he can explain more there.
When Data-Sora returns to the entrance hall, and finds that he can’t remember what happened in the Memory World, Data-Roxas explains the gimmick of Castle Oblivion. Whereas in the real Castle Oblivion, the real Sora lost more and more of his memories until he went mad, in this Castle Oblivion, Data-Sora will meet people from his past every time he uses one of the cards, but won’t be able to make new memories while he’s here. He then tells Data-Sora that he can do whatever he wants, since there’s no script to follow. He can help them out, crush their dreams, or simply leave them to march along to the scripts of their own memories. Data-Sora then asks why he’d do that to his own friends, but then the hooded figure reveals that, going forward, whenever he uses a World Card, he won’t have access to his memories of his visit to that world until after he leaves. So it’ll be like he’s meeting these people for the first time all over again.
If Data-Sora goes back to the World Map, he can pick up where he left off in Castle Oblivion by selecting “Questploration” when visiting Castle Oblivion.
Data-Sora will only get the Datascape’s World Card if he’s defeated Sora’s Heartless. If he hasn’t, he’ll have to reset Castle Oblivion after he does in order to complete it.
Cloud’s test in the memory of Olympus Coliseum would be to destroy the one Red Nocturne in a crowd of Green Requiems.
As Sora journeys deeper and deeper into the Castle, the Hooded figure reveals more and more of his motives, asking Data-Sora how important Kairi can possibly be if he could forget her so easily. He’d bring up how once he had been a dutiful wielder, fighting the Heartless wherever they manifested, hoping to eventually gain a heart of his own so he could understand what’s so great about them, only for the people with hearts to turn out to be some of the cruelest people he had ever interacted with, stealing away everything he had and leaving him with nothing, just because he wasn’t “real”. He’d mention how much he hates Sora, blaming him for his misery, stating that the only reason he’s even doing this is because he likes to see Sora squirm, even if it’s not the real Sora who fell into his trap. The hooded figure would eventually reveal that he, much like Data-Sora, is a copy of a fake, that the same girl who backed-up Jiminy’s Journal copied his data from someone else, who was then tortured and erased just to wake up the real Sora. Meaning that all this hooded figure has are painful memories that aren’t even his own.
The Datascape World Card’s Challenge is to defeat three waves of Bug Enemies (Blox Bugs, Danger Bugs, and Metal Bugs), while working with King Mickey, and before time runs out. If King Mickey runs out of HP, that’s an ending. If time runs out, that’s an ending. If Data-Sora defeats all the enemies, that’s an ending.
After clearing all the World Cards, Data-Sora comes to more or less the same conclusion that he did in canon, but Data-Roxas isn’t content to let him leave. He wants to see Sora break, and to feel the same agony he’s felt his entire life.
After Data-Roxas is defeated, Data-Sora decides to spare him. Data-Roxas would question why he’d do that, after everything he’s done to him. Data-Sora replies that he can tell that Data-Roxas is as much a victim as he is, and simply says that even if he’s still mad about everything he did, he wants to help him. Data-Roxas merely laughs sourly, then says in a dark tone, “At least I know one way I can hurt you. Even if I can’t destroy you, the failure to save me will haunt you for the rest of your miserable life!” and then erase himself while laughing, leaving nothing behind but a card. The World Card for Castle Oblivion. Data-Sora would pick the card up, then lament that Data-Roxas just wouldn’t let go.
Mickey would arrive with Data-Riku right as Data-Sora’s about to use the World Card, stating that after their connection was lost, he had to find some way to get into the Castle. Data-Riku remarks that the Data-Roxas is the same person Data-Sora saw in the Secret Place with Sora’s Heartless, and that this whole mess was part of his twisted revenge scheme, before asking Data-Sora where he is. Data-Sora would reply that when he tried to help Data-Roxas, he deleted himself just to spite him. Data-Riku would remark that what Data-Roxas did is not Data-Sora’s fault, he was simply too blinded by his hatred to do let anyone fill the void within him. Data-Sora also explains that the world card is all that’s left, but that it feels different from the other World Cards he’s used. Mickey would suggest that Kairi’s data might be in that Card, and that if they use it they might be able to get her back. Data-Sora agrees, and uses the card, the three entering the Memory World together.
There they meet Data-Naminé, who finally explains what happened after introducing herself. The original Naminé had wanted to restore the Journal while piecing Sora’s memories back together, but DiZ didn’t consider that a priority, and so ordered Naminé to not even bother. When Riku captured the original Roxas, DiZ turned him into data. Naminé took the liberty of copying Roxas’ data, and digitized the Journal, before placing Roxas’ data in there to guard memories she stumbled upon in Sora’s heart that didn’t belong to Sora. Data-Roxas became self-aware, much like Data-Sora did, and instead decided to try and locate the real Sora so he could carry out his revenge against Sora. Acting fast, Naminé went into the record of Castle Oblivion, and gave the memories to her counterpart in the Journal, then gave Data-Riku a copy of every word written in the journal, as well as a black coat to hide himself. Data-Naminé hid with the memories in the back-up data, and Naminé paused the entire Datascape and turned it back into a Journal, to try and pause Data-Roxas’ rampage.
Mickey asks what the memories Data-Naminé has are, and she explains that their the memories of people tied to Sora’s heart, the memories of the tragedies that befell them. She explains that she wanted to show them to the real Sora, but there were more pressing matters, and they could break Sora’s heart if handled improperly. However, Sora needs to use these painful memories in order to save the people in them. Data-Sora is all for going ahead and giving it a try, but then Data-Riku brings up the fact that they were dangerous enough that Naminé had to effectively quarantine them, and that just because they can make another Data-Sora, doesn’t mean that Data-Riku wants to lose the one they have. He just wouldn’t have the same heart. He then says that he’ll do it. Data-Naminé points out that she’s not sure if he can handle the memories on top of the stress of holding a back-up Datascape inside him. Mickey proposes that they work with and support each other, remarking that if one heart alone can’t handle it, then the three of them will have to combine the strength of their hearts in order to endure it.
They then take on the memories. They see Roxas (in his casual clothes) and an older Naminé. Data-Naminé explains that while the original Roxas has made peace with Sora, he’d still much rather be his own person. Naminé, meanwhile, had been surprised to find her own memories tied to Sora’s heart, but nonetheless, she has been in excruciating pain ever since she returned to Kairi, and the union cannot be complete because Kairi’s heart does not allow for darkness to exist within it, and Naminé has darkness inside her. Data-Sora then notices Xion, and just by looking at her, he can tell that something horrible happened. Data-Naminé explains that Naminé was surprised to find that anyone else could remember her, and that it is only through remembering that she’ll make her return. Data-Riku comments on just how much sorrow he feels from Xion (though without saying her name), and Data-Naminé explains that her life was short and full of pain, and her consciousness outlived her body and is in a state of pain. But they are not the only ones needing help.
At this point, Mickey notices Terra, Ventus, and Aqua, and is surprised to see them, having thought that they were gone for good. Data-Naminé explains that they’re all still alive, and that one of them sleeps within Sora’s heart. However, the other two are currently lost in a terrible and malevolent darkness that the original Naminé was too terrified to seek through. She then adds that when the original Naminé tasked her with keeping these memories safe, that DiZ was planning on hiding his research inside the original Sora, to keep it out of the Organization’s hands, then tells them that if they can find some way to get this data, then they might be able to use it to their advantage.
As that’s done, Mickey promises to get the original Sora to help these people, but Data-Riku asks if there’s any way to fix the Datascape, because even without the Bugs, it’s nowhere near stable. Data-Naminé sighs, then explains that when Naminé tampered with Sora’s memories, it was his memories of Kairi she overwrote, and so Data-Naminé believes that in the Journal, Kairi’s Data was overwritten with Naminé’s. Meaning that Kairi’s restoration might mean her end.  She admits full and well that she has the power to put Kairi back, but she doesn’t want to die. Data-Sora cuts in, stating that they’ll find another way to stabilize the Datascape, but Data-Naminé refuses, remarking that they can’t afford to wait any longer if they want to undo the damage that was done. She remarks that she’s happy to have met them, because now she doesn’t have to die alone. He asks her if there’s anything he can do for her. She just requests that he hold her, because she’s scared it will hurt. Data-Sora complies, and Data-Riku thanks her. In a flash of light, Data-Kairi materializes in Data-Sora’s arms, and asks if it’s over. When she hears her name, she expresses confusion and opens her eyes, questioning how she’s not dead. Data-Sora explains that Data-Naminé brought her back, but Data-Kairi states that’s impossible, because she is Data-Naminé. Mickey then remarks that this outcome was obvious, because Naminé couldn’t make Sora forget Kairi, only change how he remembered her. As such, Data-Kairi and Data-Naminé are actually one and the same. Data-Kairi admits that this is confusing, especially since she doesn’t think of herself as Kairi. Data-Sora remarks that she can go by whatever she wants, and Data-Kairi/Naminé states that she’s just sick of Castle Oblivion and wants to go home. The four of them head out, Mickey to Disney Castle, and the Data trio to the Digital Destiny Islands.
Mickey’s letter addresses the entire Paopu Trio, with Kairi asking Sora if he’s ready to go as he reads the letter. Sora replies that he is, and these people are counting on them. She then asks if he remembered to tell his parents, and Sora suddenly panics. Roll credits, and “Remembered Ending” with the “Battle Report” showing Data-Sora and Data-Riku with Data-Kairi/Naminé on Destiny Islands, watching the sunset.
In the Secret Ending, Mickey would explain to Yen Sid that he’s learned the location of Ven’s heart, as well as the fact Terra and Aqua are still alive. Yen Sid would remark that that only leaves Terra, right as Sora and co arrive, asking what they were called here for.
Yen Sid explains that, now that Maleficent has met her end in the Datascape, they can focus on dealing with Xehanort. The others would express confusion at this, Riku noting that he’s dealt with his Heartless, Ansem, and Sora reply that his Nobody, Xemnas, is history. Yen Sid replies that that is exactly the issue. When a Heartless is destroyed, that frees the heart from darkness. And when a Nobody is vanquished, the body lies dormant in darkness. And as both have been dealt with, Xehanort will no doubt return. This is why Yen Sid called them here, to prepare themselves for Xehanort’s inevitable return. Especially since now they will be up against not a fraction of him, but Xehanort’s complete form.
Meanwhile, Terra-Xehanort, Braig, and a hooded figure are conversing. Terra-Xehanort comments that Braig played his part well while he was without his memories, and that now he has returned, he can get his original plan back on track. Braig comments on how Ansem and Xemnas nearly ruined everything, and asks if he’s sure there’s no trace of either left in him. Terra-Xehanort replies that that’s none of Braig’s business, and tells not to forget his role. Braig remarks that he hasn’t, and says that since he can’t help them with the next stage of their big plan, he’ll go and carry out his own plans. Telling Xehanort to make sure to fill in their little friend. The Mysterious Figure lowers his hood, revealing himself to be the younger Xehanort seen at the beginning of Ven’s story. He asks why they’re letting Braig leave, stating that they need as many seekers as possible. Terra-Xehanort replies that it never hurts to have a spare, before summoning his Keyblade, calling it the most ancient of weapons. His Keyblade is a relic of the Keyblade War, passed down through the generations, and the first Keyblade ever forged. He tells the younger Xehanort that this present is his future, and that Yen Sid and the King do not yet realize just who it is they are dealing with, nor how many to expect. The younger Xehanort simply replies that he still doesn’t know what his older self is up to, and Terra-Xehanort replies that it was deliberate, all he needs to know is how to best carry out his role in these long-destined events. The younger Xehanort then asks a simple question. Braig said that they had to take one of the unconscious people with them, then asks who it is. Terra-Xehanort grins, but only gets out the first letter before:

Mes lectures
