BY QUIANYA ENGE
This month, thousands of Carbondale residents took to the polls to determine the way forward for our city — myself included. Civic engagement has long been incredibly important to me. I live to serve my community, with the belief that the people closest to the problem are closest to the solution, but furthest from the resources and power to advance change.
While I cast my vote with pride, I was also reminded that in spite of my service and commitment to my community, my name could never appear on that ballot, simply because of my past. In Illinois, people with criminal records are prohibited from running for local office, representing the community at their school district or local library and serving on a number of boards and commissions throughout the state.
I serve on the Carbondale United executive board, am an Illinois state-certified community health worker, chair the NAACP Carbondale branch’s criminal justice committee, am on the board development committee of the neighborhood co-op and am a doctoral candidate and former instructor mentoring young minds on and off campus. But because of a past conviction, the law prevents me from local civic leadership and community service.
Across the state, 1.2 million adults have conviction records. That is over one million Illinoisans who have served their time, paid all fines and fees related to their conviction, and are permanently barred from serving their communities. Further, we know that because of the racism that undergirds our economic, political and social systems, Black and Brown communities are disproportionately impacted by the legal system, and are therefore being shut out from these positions at higher rates. 35% of the 1.2 million adults with records are Black, two and a half times higher than the state’s Black population.
These barriers are an affront to voting rights, and at the end of the day, they are detrimental to communities themselves. Civic engagement lowers recidivism rates. When people are civically engaged, they become more invested in the long-term health, safety and stability of their community. Ensuring successful reentry for formerly incarcerated people means ensuring they are resourced with the tools to thrive independently and contribute to the community.
Our Constitution is clear that punishments and penalties for crimes should neither be cruel nor excessive. And yet, millions of people across the state — people who pay taxes, who vote, who contribute to their communities — are denied the full opportunity to improve their neighborhoods long after they’ve completed their sentence. An entire population is being denied full citizenship — and few even notice.
Directly impacted people across the state, including here in Carbondale, are pushing for commonsense legislation that would eliminate these lifelong barriers and ensure all citizens are treated with dignity and have the opportunity to serve their communities. Right now, the Illinois State Legislature is considering House Bill 2824/Senate Bill 2347, The Promoting Involvement & Empowerment Through Civic Engagement (PIECE) Act, which would allow people with felony convictions to hold local elected office and serve on key state boards and commissions. The legislation would also create common sense limits for those who have violated the election code or committed official misconduct, and it will require someone seeking appointment to a board or commission to disclose a conviction related to that board or commission’s work.
On Election Night, one of my dear partners in this work suggested I put my name in the running for a future race. Women — especially Black women — are shut out from elected office for so many reasons, and it was heartbreaking to have to tell her that I couldn’t, in spite of my motivation and ability to serve the community. Even though this issue impacts so many across the state, few people have any idea that these archaic laws still exist.
Solutions to the most difficult issues plaguing our neighborhoods are going to be best developed by those who are closest to the pain. When we bar an entire population of people from contributing to these solutions, we’re not only denying them basic civil rights; we’re harming the larger community.

Hello Charity. I have a question about being an INFP 4w5 so/sp 461. Does having 6 and 1 in the tritype balance out the 4s selfishness? I'm definitely a 4, and even though I struggle with envy, self absorption, and the need to be different from everyone else, I care about other people a lot and I want to help them. I notice a lot of "I should" thinking going on. Is this the influence of the 6 and 1? I strive towards self improvement and I want to be a kind person, but I tend to push myself past my capabilities, crash, and burn out. I'm easily frustrated, extremely sensitive, very critical of myself, and I never feel like I'm good enough or where I should be at in life. I know I suffer from the self absorbed nature of the 4, and I'll admit that, but I'm not proud of that fact. I want to be better. I want people to realize that while 4s are self absorbed and can act selfishly, we can care about people a lot and can want to change.
If you are thinking in terms of "I should" and feeling guilt for being selfish, it's very likely that you have a super-ego core type or wing dictating behaviors to you. Self-criticism can come from 9w1 (I am a bad person who disrupts things and need to be more selfless) or from a 1 core (I need to be perfect, and if I am not, I will be angry at myself for not doing better; I have an inner committee of voices telling me everything I have done wrong lately...). Is it possible you are a 9w1 with a 4 fix, or a 1w2 with a 4 fix?
Where's the broken elitism and pride of being different of a 4 in what you wrote? It's all about being better, dealing with and fixing your selfishness, and trying not to be as self-absorbed. Fi-doms are naturally somewhat self-absorbed, since everything gets filtered through me ("they're talking about me," "I don't like this," "I feel like this is about me even if it isn't"), but a Fi-dom with a super-ego core is going to feel more guilty about that and ashamed of not being less selfish / more selfless (which sometimes comes from a 1/2 dynamic) than a 4, who will double down on their own feelings.
I would look at 6 with a 4 fix, or 1 with a 4 fix, or even a 2 core. The 2 line to 4 does bring in some 4ish elements, while still feeling like you SHOULD be a more selfless person. The fact that you approach me with the desire to make everyone understand that "not all 4s" are selfish and really want to change and get better is super-ego.
The 416 that I know (also an INFP) is very 4. Broken, elitist, different, doesn't expect people to want her around, shows lots of anger at other people doing wrong things / wanting to lay down the law on them and tell them off for it, some assertiveness coming from her angry 1 fix (here's what you did wrong; do better). It's less about self-criticism for her and more about how angry she is a lot of the time, and how she resents her own 6 fears holding her back from living the life that she wants. She's critical and a perfectionist, but has no problem broadcasting negative feelings and holding the floor, because as a 4-core and a Fi-dom, she isn't thinking about your feelings -- she's working through hers. It doesn't mean she's not kind, compassionate, and gentle with hurting people, but the 4ish strong Fi emphasis on "me and what I am feeling" is loud at all times.
Something I've noticed -- 9w1s beat themselves up way more than 1s, who want to be RIGHT and will double-down on their anger and feelings of moral superiority. 1 as a wing seems more internal-critical than as a core, in which a lot of the anger is directed outward. This is why a lot of 9w1s mistake themselves as 1s -- they think beating themselves up all the time is 1ish and it is, but it's specifically 9w1ish.

118 YEARS AGO YESTERDAY IN CORSICANA. . . On Wednesday, March 13, 1901, a 22-year-old African American man named Jonas “John” Henderson was burned at the stake in Corsicana, Texas. Seven days earlier, a white woman named Valley Dale Younger was brutally murdered at her home and her death was apparently witnessed by her two children. According to the Dallas Times Herald, her kids claimed “A big negro knocked mama down and dragged her away.” Valley’s body was found by her father approximately 150 feet from her home and her husband Conway formed a search party with some neighbors and procured bloodhounds. For the next few days, the search party—which came to include Navarro County law enforcement personnel—zigzagged back and forth in a westward direction. On Monday, March 11, they took Henderson (who was a big “Negro”) into custody near Hillsboro. Back in Corsicana, plans for a lynching were already in the works and Henderson’s legally appointed captors were weary of returning. They contacted McLennan County Sheriff J. W. Baker in Waco and asked if Henderson could be transferred there until a trial could be arranged, but Baker said no. Henderson spent the night in the Hillsboro jail and the next day Governor Joseph D. Sayers got word to law enforcement officials instructing them to transport him to Fort Worth. On Tuesday, March 12, Navarro County Constable W. B. Grantham, a Navarro County Deputy Sheriff named Hammond and Bell County Sheriff Sam Sparks boarded a northbound train in Hillsboro with Henderson and headed to Fort Worth. Just before the train arrived at the Itasca stop, several armed Corsicana citizens (who had also boarded the train in Hillsboro) got the drop on Henderson’s escort and seized him. The vigilantes transported Henderson forty-five miles back to Corsicana by horseback and placed him in the Navarro County jail in the custody of newly elected sheriff Wiley B. Robinson. The next morning, a committee including Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace H. G. Roberts visited Henderson and “determined” his guilt, at which point Henderson reportedly inscribed his “X” (he could neither read nor write) to a signed confession and dictated a letter to his father. Informalities complete, the committee decided Henderson should be burned at the stake at 2:00 pm. When news arrived that Texas Rangers and state militia were in route from Dallas, the committee moved the execution time up to 11:00 am. The lynch-mob’s staging group drove a trolley car rail into the ground on one side of the Navarro County courthouse, stacked boxes and lumber around it and then saturated the kindling with coal oil. Near the assigned hour, Sheriff Robinson was warned to remain at the jail and two dozen men escorted Henderson by chain from the jailhouse to the steel rail in the yard. As Henderson was fastened to the stake with wire and chains, the Corsicana fire bell rang to summon folks from the surrounding stores and businesses. Just before the conflagration was lit, Conway Younger approached Henderson and slashed him across the face with a knife. After Henderson was aflame, Conway attempted to slash him again and several women from the Younger neighborhood reportedly threw wood into the fire as it blazed, conspicuously aiming for Henderson’s head. Emitting nary a whimper, Henderson was dead within ten minutes. The mob dispersed quietly and memento seekers sifted through the charred remains. Judge Roberts subsequently performed an “inquest,” but it resembled more a coronation of the affair rather than a coroner’s report: "I find that the deceased came to his just death at the hands of the incensed and outraged feelings of the best people in the United States, the citizens of Navarro and adjoining counties. The evidence, as well as the confession of guilt by deceased, shows that his punishment was fully merited and commendable." A crowded, northbound train arrived in Corsicana at noon and its passengers were disappointed to find they that had missed the spectacle. The rumored Texas Ranger and state militia forces never materialized. Governor Sayers’s

Boobs, Butt, or Legs for class A-1 and the LOA
Not only am I a member of the itty bitty titty committee but I also don't really have an ass. All I got going for me is my legs...and my lovely personality😘
Warning: Semi-Lemon Headcanons
Class 1A
Kaminari
He's a boob guy. Whenever you talk to him his eyes often stray down to your chest, drool starting to come out of his mouth unintentionally. He tries not to and is ashamed when you called him out on it but...they're right there...if only he could reach out and...
→ You: "KAMI!!! Pay attention!!" *is blushing while trying to keep your composure*
→ Kaminari: *whines* "I'm sorry, (Y/n)! I can't help it! You look so sexy~"
Kirishima
Legs! Kirishima is a guy who loves the thought of nibbling along his lovers skin and claiming them. He could work his way up your legs, leaving bite marks behind as he gets closer to the place you want him the most. He loves finding out your inner thighs are sensitive so he takes his time there; tracing your skin with his teeth, teasing you as you whine for him to get closer...
→ Kirishima: "Mm..look at you all marked up, (Y/n)! You look so cute right now." *kisses the marks on your thighs softly*
→ You: "K-Kiri...please..."
→ Kirishima: "Uh oh! Looks like I missed a spot!" *leans back down while holding back a not-so innocent snicker*
Tokoyami
I would say boobs but he has his beak is in the way so he can't really...burry his face in them if he wanted. Other than that I think he would love your legs. Something about the idea of them being wrapped around his head makes him embarrassingly turned on.
→ Tokoyami: *still wary of his beak* "Are you sure, (Y/n)?"
→ You: "I trust you Tokoyami!"
Sero
Once upon a time during training you had stumbled backwards into Sero, both of you tumbling to the ground. He ended up on his butt, his arms around your waist as he tried to prevent the fall, and you in his lap in a very suggestive position. You had shifted your position slightly to get up and he let out a shakey groan.
→ You: "Ah! I'm sorry, Sero! Are you hurt?" *scrambling to get up*
→ Sero: *trying to ignore the building ache in his pants* "Y-yeah. I'm good."
Midoriya
If we're being honest, the situation that happened with Hatsune kind of changed his perspective on things. Yes, girls always made him flustered, but he didn't know things would escalate this far. So whenever you hug him and he feels something squishy press into him...his face is as red as a tomato.
→ Midoriya: "(Y/n)...t-too tight!" *trying to get out of your hold*
→ You: "But your so amazing, Deku!" *squeezes tighter*
→ Midoriya: "A-ah~!" *is way to conscious of you pressing against him*
Bakugou
He never bothered with the thought of this stuff--too busy aiming to be the number one hero--but once he finds interest in someone he's done. His gaze will linger on your ass no matter what you're doing. You had dropped something one day so you bent over to pick it up and he almost let out some sparks.
→ Bakugou: *pulls you roughly into his lap, his hands resting on your waist as he holds back a groan* "Stay like this for a minute."
→ You: *in shock, but you listen, feeling his hands inch towards your ass, his breathing hitching* Oh... *grinning, you shift your weight and feel his hips thrust up*
→ Bakugou: *a gruttled moan escapes his mouth, a rare blush crossing his face as his hands shoot completely under your ass to hold you still* "F-fuck, (Y/n)."
Koda
This poor innocent boy. He gets flustered easily whenever you flirt with him so if his eyes do stray towards your ass or your boobs he's panicking and covering his face. He might end up being a boob guy more than anything and of course you love the feeling of his rough hands on you~
→ You: *leans over his desk so your looking him in the eye* "Good morning, Koda!"
→ Koda: "G-good morni-eep!" *had looked up and saw your clevage right in front of his face*
Ojiro
So...with his tail Ojiro was always conscious about it ever since he was a kid. I would say ass but he also just loves tracing his fingers over the small of your back. Whenever the two of you are resting together, he'll draw invisible patterns and eventually fall asleep with his hand on your ass.
→ Ojiro: *is snoring lightly and is twitching in his sleep grabbing a handful of your ass*
→ You: *trying not to laugh*
Shouji
The man who has many limbs so of course he would be attracted to your legs. You only have one pair so he thinks they're so special and adores them whenever he gets the chance. If you happen to be flexible, he finds that all the more appealing.
→ Shouji: *currently watching you stretch while trying not to make it too obvious that he's enjoying the view*
→ You: "Nice try, Shouji. I know you're staring but don't worry...I'll give you a private show later."
Sato
He is attracted to boobs. One day the two of you were baking and it got messy, both of you laughing as flour and milk got everywhere. When the two of you took a second to breathe, he glanced up and saw a trail of milk going down your clevage and under your shirt, making it wet.
→ Sato: *is blushing profusely trying to direct his attention back to baking*
→ You: "Awh...now I'm all wet, Sato!"
→ Sato: *sato.exe has stopped working*
Todoroki
Personality. To be completely honest, he probably wouldn't pay much attention to anything like that until he started to like someone. He has so many other things to worry about so you have to have some verbal connection before a physical one. Once you start getting to know him and flirt, he might have his gaze linger on your ass when you walk by him.
→ You: *passes by Todoroki, purposely sauntering your hips because you caught onto his little secret*
→ Todoroki: *was talking to Midoriya when he saw you out of the corner of his eye, passing by and his eyes immediately shoot downward, holding back a sigh*
→ Midoriya: "...Todoroki-kun?"
Iida
I think this goes without saying but he loves a pair of legs on someone. All he's ever known is his legs with the engines in his calves so when he has a partner whose legs are soft and smooth...he absentmindedly will caress your legs if you have them placed on his lap.
→ Iida: *his hands were slowly massaging up your legs while watching the news segment about a villain attack before they start to climb higher to your thigh before reaching inward...*
→ You: *jumps and opens both eyes to see Iida still engrossed in the story with a small quirked lip* "Oh? This is a first."
→ Iida: *chuckles* "It was so sexy feeling your muscles twitch when I did that."
League Of Villains
Shigaraki
He just wants to touch you. Everywhere. Maybe your ass more than anything but it's times like this when his quirk pisses him off. He just wants to roam his hands all over your skin. Skin to skin contact. No gloves. Imagine how delighted he was when he found out you liked the danger that came with almost five fingers...
→ Shigaraki: *four fingers were tracing over your hips, watching them buck up a little when he grazed a sensitive spot* "Careful, (Y/n). You could've bumped my pinky finger~"
Kurogiri
He loves your ass and legs. Just when you pass by him, he'll glace at you briefly before directing his attention back to what he was doing. He's very secretive about it so you would have to pay special attention to him so you catch him.
→ You: "Enjoying the view?" *reaches up to get a glass on the top shelf*
→ Kurogiri: *almost drops the glass he was cleaning*
Dabi
Ass. Oh...he loves bending you over and giving you a few good slaps. It turns all nice and red for him and if activates his quirk, quickly warming his palm, it gets even redder. He loves the choked moans you make as you call out to him, shaking your ass as you beg for more.
→ Dabi: "Do you think you've been a good girl, (Y/n)? Or should I have you count to 10?" *is rubbing your reddened flesh greedily*
→ You: "I've b-been good! So g-good for you..." *sobbing, you moan as you feel a single digit slide down your wet slit*
Twice
Maybe it's because he has his split personality, but he loves your boobs. He pays special attention to both of them, each personality seeming to pick one side each.
→ You: "T-twice...please..." *twitching from overstimulation on your nipples*
→ Twice: "You're so cute, (Y/n)!" *switched to the other nipple* "You greedy bitch, I'm not stopping now."
Mr. Compress
Since he used to be a magician, he was often doing the trick that would saw a woman's body in half in a closed box. Of course, this seperates the legs and....he is weak to a woman in heels with nylons. He thinks it enhances a woman's sex appeal and it really gets him going.
→ You: *teasingly pushing the nylons off your legs before pulling them back up*
→ Sako: "Leave them on, (Y/n). I'm going to take you just like that."
Spinner
He is WEAK to boobs. If you wear low-cut tops around him, he won't be able to stop staring as he fumbles over his words. You'll have him tongue-tied in seconds if you touch them yourself...even if it's just as innocent as adjusting your bra.
→ Shigaraki: *sigh* "Pay attention to the meeting, Spinner."
→ Spinner: "S-shit! Ya-uh-sorry!"
→ You: *giggles*

The “Counterphobic 6″ vs. 8 Conundrum
So this was the thing I wrote after a typing session that finally cleared my accurate Enneagram type. Basically this details the key distinctions between Type 8 and a more “counterphobic” variety of Type 6.
Let’s get all the introductions out of the way: I’m an SP/SO 6w5 with 683 fixes, which puts me in the same caliber as dickheads, douchebags, and dictators.
I also happened to mistype as an 8 (which wing depends on the time of day) for a while until I swapped that card over for a new, shiny 6w5 card.
With this humble piece, I hope to share my story of mistyping, clarity, and in the end, shed some light on the differences between 6 and 8 from the point of view of someone who has fallen into that very same mistyping trap.
MY MISTYPING HELL
I got into the Enneagram through a friend and after a few attempts of testing and conversations with a couple of friends to gauge some observations, I typed myself as an 8, and off I went (I swung between both wings but I didn’t understand why at this point).
As I went deeper into studying the Enneagram, I came across the concept of “phobic” and “counterphobic” when it comes to Type 6. At some point in my deep dive, a lot of the “counterphobic” descriptions hit a nerve a little too close for comfort, and started having doubts about my core type.
That’s where I hit Google and attempted to seek answers to my little conundrum. Unfortunately, instead of finding answers, I found mostly the following:
Half-baked descriptions of both 6 and 8 that never got to the core of either type
Circlejerk threads of 6s (mostly men) posturing themselves as Eights and digging their heels when questioned about the possibility of mistyping
The branding of 6 (especially those who lean towards counterphobia) as “Wannabe 8s”, which has some anecdotal origins, but it loses the essence Sixes have that’s unique to the type.
And many others…
Yet despite all that, I held on to my 8 typing for dear life, while still open to the possibility of mistyping. It’s a walking contradiction of sorts, but such is the life of a Six.
FINDING CLARITY
During my time studying the Enneagram, I came across this site called Enneagrammer, and along with it the Big Hormone Enneagram podcasts. As I pursued all this information, I’ve gained even more clarity about the various types and their relationships with each other in a way I’ve never understood it before.
Despite all that, the question remained: Am I a 6 or an 8?
In a last-ditch attempt to find answers, I caved in and purchased a typing video reading. Unfortunately, I submitted mine during a time where a lot of people did and ended up swapping it with an hour-long typing session with Emeka, one of the ad.
I’m glad I did.
Fast-forward to the 30th of October 2020. I had a difficult time sleeping the night before due to a mix of excitement and anxiety. Thankfully it was first thing in the morning so once I got up and freshened myself up, we started the typing session.
Not even 15 minutes in, the distinction was clear as day.
Emeka explaining how 6 operates, and how my wing, fixes, and stacking interacted to form the full picture of my type felt like someone read my deepest, darkest secrets. It’s like when you’re on stage and your pants fell off in front of an entire audience, but at the same time, it’s in a way validating in an “I feel seen” type of way.
My full type from my 5 wing, assertive fixes, and self-preservation stacking makes for a more “grounded”, earthy flavor of the 6 (as opposed to many type 6 descriptions which appear to have 6w7 in mind). Unless people know what to look for, I can look like a gut type at first glance.
Despite what appearances and first impressions show, the “counterphobic” 6 (who are probably likely to be 8-fixed 6s) have some significant key differences that distinguish them from true 8s.
AGGRESSION AND REACTIVITY
Both 6 (especially 8-fixed 6) and 8 can be aggressive and territorial. As both types reside on the Reactive triad, they’re both intense types who aren’t afraid to let other people know about how they feel about something.
The key difference between both is the motivation behind the aggression.
For starters, the 8 brand of aggression focuses on creating their reality through action and expansion. This makes for a calmer, more deliberate, more shameless type of expressing themselves due to the lack of superego influence.
6’s aggression, on the other hand, happens as a response to the swinging pendulum in their head (or “splitting”) and is usually a cover for deep-seated anxiety. The thing with 6 most of the time is that we don’t even know that we’re anxious – the underlying anxiety is the baseline.
As a 5-wing, my way to seek certainty is to hoard information and devise structures to give me that map. Sometimes it gets to a point where I haven't taken certain factors into consideration (especially because...people are people, and can be unpredictable). When surprises happen, my first instinct is to push on as a reaction to those surprises (because reactive type), which is where the aggression comes from.
It takes a lot of self-reflection and insight to get out of this trap, but with some work and self-reflection, it can be done.
HEAD VS. GUT
All Head types attempt to find a way to orient themselves, frame reality as they know it, and concoct a narrative that makes sense to them, as distorted as the result would be. For the 6, this comes in the form of “what ifs” and worst-case-scenarios.
The 6 is most especially in tune with the nuts and bolts of the systems that matter to them the most. They would be the first people to spot if something is off, which makes them excellent troubleshooters, problem solvers, and project managers.
6’s signature ambivalence leads them to find rational ways to prove a point. For one that’s mistyping as an 8, this can look like trying to create scenarios and reasons to convince others that they’re an 8, which is even more proof of the mistyping at hand.
8s, on the other hand, are the system. They would just chuck everything out, push their way into things, and rewrite reality as it suits them regardless of health level.
INSTINCTUAL STACKING MYTHS
There’s also a pervasive myth in online typology circles that “counterphobic” 6 can only be sexual types. As a self-preservation 6, I can tell you off the bat that this couldn’t be way more off-base and is one of the primary reasons I mistyped as an 8 for so long.
“Counterphobic” 6s can be of any instinctual stacking. The notion that they can only be sexual types can only operate under the assumption that 6 can only be phobic or counterphobic, which is counter to the signature duality of the type.
6 phobia and counterphobia lie on a spectrum. How an individual 6 reacts depends on the person and situation. What the stacking tells you is what instinct this duality is most especially apparent.
For me as a self-preservation 6, this happens when self-preservation issues of health, finances, and lifestyle are at stake. This especially makes me extremely controlling and territorial of my space and any “intrusion” will send the alarm bells.
The main distinction with the 8-fixed 6 brand of boundary defense compared to that of the 8 (which is a more offensive-centric type) is that we tend to be much more vigilant of the boundary and pre-emptively strike before you even cross the line.
ATTACHMENT VS. REJECTION
The final key difference between 6 and 8 lies in one being an attachment type (6) and the other a rejection type (8).
6 (even with assertive and rejection fixes), for all their bluffing and blustering, are at the core attachment types. Whether we’re aware of it or not, as attachment types we have the need to be connected to “The Grid” (whether it’s people, systems, or anything that connects us to the world at large).
This gives us 6s a “testy” quality. We test and probe the people we interact with and change course depending on their reaction. Kind of like how our image-focused 3 siblings do except the reason why we do this is to help us orient the compass rather than craft the best image for the job (that is get the most value).
Meanwhile, 8s, their forceful action is a form of separation and dissociation from “The Grid". As rejection types, they assume right off the bat that they’re going to be rejected and thus offer their strength and willpower as they reject their vulnerability.
THE POWER OF WINGS AND FIXES
Like all attachment types, a 6 core is a “blank canvas” that gains its color and shape based on the wing, fixes, and instinctual stacking. If the core type, wing, and stacking are the main colors, the gut fix are the shadows, and the heart fix are the highlights.
6w5, specifically (due to the influence of the withdrawn, competency-focused 5) tend to be more private, cynical, and “grounded” than the 6w7 and can look like an 8 at first glance. This could all be just me projecting my experiences on to you, but that’s for you to decide.
A 6w7, on the other hand, tends to have more scattered energy due to the 7 mix. This makes for a more optimistic, emotional brand of the type that tends to mistype as 2, 4, or 9.
The narratives of “fighting for the underdog” and “toughening themselves up” usually attributed to 8s are more appropriate to the type 6 (I mean, 6w5 specifically is named The Defender, for God’s sake). More so because we have the hardest time accessing our courage.
Because how do we do the thing when we don’t know what the thing looks like?
What gut fix the 6 has adds striking color to the type: 9-fixed and 1-fixed 6s deal with underlying anxiety by mostly withdrawing from the source (9-fix) or contorting themselves to a standard in the attempt to quell the fear (1-fix).
8-fixed 6s? We just huff, puff, and take action to get it over with.
An 8 fix gives the 6 the license to “be” a 6 and wear the "ping-pong" game on their sleeve. The 6 “Inner Committee” (as Riso brands it) has a meeting every single time we make a decision, and for those of up with 8 fixes, it’s like telling them to shut the fuck up and stomping out in a huff to do the damn thing.
Because of this, an 8-fixed 6 will look more like the 8 stereotypes than an actual 8. 8-cores tend to be much better at picking their battles and knowing when to drop it when something is not worth it to them.’
The heart fix adds yet another dimension to the 6. Adding a 4 heart fix will make the 6-8 even more reactive and “raw”, whereas a 3 heart fix gives the 6-8 stem more tact and an emphasis on “reacting to get a certain reaction”. A 2 heart fix makes for a more people-focused, overbearing parent-figure type of quality.
The 6 can be many things, but “mediocre” and “same-y” is definitely not one of them.
WHY THE CONFUSION AND WHY ADDRESS IT?
Now that we have the differences out of the way, it’s good to ask, “If the differences are clear, why are people confusing the two types anyway?”
The distinction between 6s and 8s has been a subject of online debate since time immemorial. Based on my observations and experience, this is due to several things:
Confusing descriptions that end up adding more questions than answers. We’ve seen this happen with type 4 vs. 9 (another common mistyping), and unfortunately, some discussions blur the distinction for 6 vs. 8 even further.
A society that reveres certain types of strength more than others. This is how many (mostly male, based on observation) 6s posture themselves to the idealized, “powerful” version of the 8 without taking into consideration the dark side of the type.
The bad rep attachment types in general get. For all the pitfalls of 6, they also have their own strengths other types can learn from like loyalty, insight, and anti-elitism.
Defining the distinction between types helps people genuinely see themselves for what they are, warts and all, and helps lay the foundation for fruitful, meaningful inner work that gets us out the trappings of type and connect in a truly authentic way, no matter what type you are.
It gives the space to respond instead of reaching for the first instinct without a care for how it affects the big picture, and for the 6, it serves as the orienting needed to set the course and open up to other possibilities.

Studio Trigger Live Drawing with Mago (03/13/19): Transcript (Non-Verbatim)
Tumblr media
Studio Trigger streamed their fourth Twitch live drawing at 19:00 JST on March 13, 2019. The stream features Space Patrol Luluco character designer Mago drawing Trigger-chan from Trigger Girls and Luluco from Space Patrol Luluco, as well as a Q and A with producer Hiromi Wakabayashi and translator Tatsuru Tatemoto. A full video of the stream is available on Twitch here.
I’ve put together a transcript of the stream for anyone curious about the Q and A. While the transcript is not verbatim, all the meaning should still be captured.
Transcript
Tatsuru Tatemono (Tattun): Okay. Thank you for joining us on our fourth live-drawing session. We have Mago as our guest tonight. I’m aware that it’s very late for a lot of our followers. Thank you for stopping by. It’s 3:00 am in Seattle. Thank you very much for stopping by.
Again, Mago is our guest animator or guest illustrator today. As usual, Hiromi Wakabayashi is here as our MC. I, Tattun, will be doing the translation and moderation for the stream tonight. Tonight, we are having Mago draw Studio Trigger’s mascot character, Trigger-chan. I believe we had a special request from Mago that she wanted to draw Luluco as well. So, I think, uh, we would like…
Mago says that it’s a pleasure to meet you. She says that her name is Mago the Illustrator, and she’ll do her best today. Hiromi Wakabayashi says konnichiwa, as usual.
I’m sorry if it looks dark. It’s our camera. We’re going to be focusing on the illustration part a little bit more, so hopefully, the darkness won’t be too bothersome. I guess Hiromi brought a pre-release item from Promare that he was quality checking.
I’m very sorry. We’ll have our audio pumped up a little bit more.
So, we noticed that there’s a little glare on Mago’s tablet. We’re going to try to get rid of the glare so that you have a better view of how she is working with her illustration. Today, Mago is working with SAI 1, the first version of SAI. I believe she’s using the Cintiq 16, the newest tablet by Wacom. Otherwise, she’s using a wireless keyboard and mouse. When we upload the video on YouTube, I’ll make sure to cover all the specifics in the comments section.
Okay. So, I think we will get started with the Q and A session like usual. However, before we do so, note that this stream is brought to you by all the lovely support we receive from Patreon. Thank you. If you’re interested in becoming a supporter as well, the link is provided on our Twitter page. Please check it out if you’re curious. We try to provide digital rewards as frequently as possible, so if you’re interested in those things, do definitely give our Patreon a glance when you have some time!
So, for the people who are unfamiliar, Mago usually works on a lot of Studio Trigger’s SD character designs. She’s been a part of every single project except for DARLING in the FRANXX, which doesn’t really count because DARLING in the FRANXX is a collaboration work and not a 100% genuine Trigger show. Mago wasn’t part of Inferno Cop, either. Inferno Cop is a prestigious Trigger title, Hiromi says, so she needs more experience with Studio Trigger. We’re receiving some comments that Mago’s not a part of Turning Girls as well.
Well, that was the introduction. Let’s get started with the Q and A session. Again, if you’re a part of our Patreon, you will have the opportunity to cast a vote on what kinds of questions will be asked and what kinds of illustrations will be drawn during these streams.
Hiromi and Mago are explaining that Mago’s drawing is an interesting line-up of characters. You don’t usually see these two characters together because they’re obviously the same character.
I have a question from Paul Schmidt: “Mago-san, I noticed you're only credited as the character designer and with ending illustrations on Space Patrol Luluco in Anime News Network's (ANN) encyclopedia, yet on your Twitter profile introduction, you list Kill la Kill, so I was wondering how you were involved with Kill la Kill? The reason I ask is because I personally submitted the staff and company credits to the ANN encyclopedia page for Kill la Kill, and your name (まご) is not credited in any episode, at least according to the corresponding page on the アニメスタッフデータベース [staff database].”
So, Mago says that she wrote Kill la Kill on her profile because she was responsible for one of the back illustrations for the Blu-ray/DVD jacket and was also in charge of the small SD characters for merchandise. That’s why she wrote about her involvement in Kill la Kill on her Twitter profile.
What is an SD character? I think SD stands for “Small Deformed” or “Super Deformed.” I’m not too sure. If that’s not the term used in English, I’m very sorry. Please tell me the term used in English. It’s Super Deformed?
So, Hiromi says that it’s called Super Deformed or SD in Japan because it started out originally from Gundam or Macross, which had a mini-mech series called “Super Deformed.” Hiromi suggests that you should stop calling the designs “chibi” and use the term “SD” because that’s the term that the proper anime industry uses! [Laughing.]
I guess Mago is going to take her time on the color and make a very Canvas illustration.
We have a question from Chen Luohan (I’m sorry if I mispronounce your name): “Hi Trigger! The production of anime fascinates me. What is the pipeline in the production of an anime series? What do you consider first when starting out with the ideas? Story? Character? Settings? Thank you very much!”
Wakabayashi says that they come up with a concept and foundation for what kind of series they want to make first. The concept might be something very, very broad, like family love or family bonding. Imaishi might be simpler; he might just want an anime with drills and that’s it. Once Trigger has that keyword—for example, Gurren Lagann would be “drill”—Trigger gets together to brainstorm how to make an interesting story from the one keyword, like “drill” in the case of Gurren Lagann.
Mago says she’s never put too much thought into her style formation. She generally likes drawing illustrations with very few shadows and lines. Before she knew it, she came up with her current style.
Hiromi noticed that Mago likes to clean up or refine her lines. She says that she cleans up where she feels like it! Mago says that she thought it might be more interesting for the viewers if she’s working on various parts of the illustration rather than concentrating on one part.
Mago and a few of our studio staffs went to Comic Fiesta, a decently large event in Malaysia. The event was a few months ago, I believe, during the Christmas season, but we were talking about how it’s actually summer during winter in Malaysia, so the event was very warm.
All three of us are saying that if we’re invited to a local event, we’ll most likely come out if it’s not conflicting with our schedule. This year, we want to try various places and go outside of the States more, to anywhere in Europe, Asia, etc.
We have an interesting question from EiGi696969: “Mago, do you have any interest in directing? Would you like to direct an anime one day?”
Mago says that she has no interest. She is a manga artist as well. She explains that when she draws a manga, she has to do everything; she has to come up with the story and concepts, which is like directing. It’s a lot of work. She doesn’t think she enjoys it too much.
For example, Mago says that it’s hard to motivate herself when she’s coming up with a story because she wants to... If she’s told to draw a manga, she tries to draw a character she’s currently interested in drawing. It’s hard for her to draw a pre-existing character that she’s told to draw.
A while ago, Mago was drawing a series of manga that featured Studio Trigger. The manga was about the daily nonsense of Studio Trigger. I think it was published through Utek Magazine [sp?]. Mago likes doing that kind of diary-type manga, she thinks.
We have a question from reportas1: “What are your favorite characters that you have drawn?”
Mago enjoys drawing Luluco the most. She also enjoys drawing Mako from Kill la Kill.
Wakabayashi says that they receive a lot of questions about DARLING in the FRANXX, asking if they are satisfied with the story and ending.
Studio Trigger’s general stance, as a studio, is that they basically try to give an idea to the director. The director, Nishigori Atsushi, usually comes up with a concept or idea that he wants to do. The studio gives him feedback and sees if he likes the feedback. The director obviously makes the final call. It’s very hard to say if Studio Trigger “liked” the ending sequence of DARLING in the FRANXX or not, Wakabayashi says.
Sorry, there was a misunderstanding! We’re not talking about the ending sequence. Wakabayashi did the production for the ending sequence of DARLING in the FRANXX, so he’s super satisfied with that! If the question is about the how the story was wrapped up, Wakabayashi says that the ending is the director’s choice, and he doesn’t think that it’s right of Studio Trigger to comment on how the story wrapped up.
There’s a question from Patreon’s Bill Erak: “How involved is Trigger in the dubbing process of their shows? I've heard of directors that sometimes get involved in dubs, but that's more of an exception. I ask because KLK had an amazing dub, Luluco's was pretty dope too, while LWA's sucks. Are those things left to whoever distributes it on the west? Can't you, Tattun, maybe check the dubs, and if they suck, tell them so that they change them?”
So, I thought this was a pretty interesting question. To this day, I don’t think many Japanese studios or production committees give much thought into this matter. Studio Trigger obviously doesn’t check or even receive a notice for a revision of the dubbing process. Wakabayashi says that he thinks that, if they made a request to the dubbers and distributors overseas to check on the dubbing process and auditions, they might be able to comment. However, distributors don’t even ask if the studio is satisfied with their work, so Wakabayashi guesses that it’s just very unnatural—or there’s no previous incidence—for a studio or production committee to comment on the dubbing process.
If given the opportunity, Studio Trigger would like to direct their dubbing as well, though, Wakabayashi says. Wakabayashi says that he would like Inferno Cop to be dubbed by Leonardo DiCaprio! [Laughing.]
tigermac from Twitch asks: “Mago, how many sketchbooks have you filled up since the start of your art career?”
Mago says that she doesn’t have a sketchbook! I guess she doesn’t really practice. She likes to doodle on her PC, and if it turns out well, she’ll share it on her Twitter. If not, she’ll usually toss out the files.
Whatever illustration or doodle Mago feels satisfied with is updated on her Twitter, so please check out her Twitter. I’ll post her Twitter on the YouTube upload as well, so please check that out if you’re interested, but I’m sure it’s not too difficult to find Mago’s Twitter if you just Google “Mago.” We have a couple of viewers posting Mago’s Twitter now!
I guess Mago is having a little trouble drawing Trigger-chan. Mago doesn’t draw Trigger-chan too often. She’s going to redo the drawing from the rough draft portion, she says.
There’s a question from Patreon, from Harry Bonyari (very sorry if I mispronounce your name): “I know you’re a big fan of sneakers. How do you let your interest in fashion inform your work?”
Mago says that she’s not too keen on fashion, but she does like sneakers. When she feels like drawing particular sneakers, she’ll usually draw the character in some kind of cool clothes to go with the sneakers. However, she doesn’t know if she lets her choice of fashion affect her work too much.
There’s a question from Cesar A. Morillo: “Is Inferno Cop Season 2 coming either this year or next?”
There’s no ETA for Inferno Cop, says Wakabayashi. It’s ready when it’s ready. If Studio Trigger focused on Inferno Cop, they would have to delay Promare, and Wakabayashi is sure that you don’t want that! He’s sure that you’d prefer to watch Imaishi’s and Amemiya’s new actual series instead!
Wakabayashi says that the studio has a lot of ideas for Inferno Cop 2, though. In every creative meeting for other projects, they usually get derailed and talk about Inferno Cop. They are waiting for the opportunity to utilize their ideas. Maybe Mago’s SD designs will be featured in the new Inferno Cop season, Wakabayashi says! [Laughing.]
There’s a question from Ben Veltri: “For Mago: In terms of drawing ability, how do animators and illustrators differ? Do you think illustrators are better?”
Okay, so we got some pretty interesting answers! This was a question from Patreon, again.
So, I guess, the question was, in terms of drawing abilities, how do animators and illustrators differ, and which is better? Hiromi and Mago said that the two jobs are different and can’t be compared; different skills are involved. An animator has to draw a character or object from every angle and in motion. An illustrator is meant to express with one single illustration, which might be hard for an animator to do—to convey a message with a single illustration. It’s very hard to compare. Mago says that she feels like it’s harder for an animator to acquire their set of skills, though.
EiGi696969, your question is interesting. It doesn’t hurt to answer your question twice. The question is, “What is your stance on piracy? Does it cost the studio any money when people pirate their anime? Do you think it’s a necessary evil? Do you think it’s something that will go away or get worse in the future?”
I guess Hiromi is saying that nowadays, there are so many different streaming services that everyone can watch what people in Japan can watch. In the past, that wasn’t the case, though. A lot of anime weren’t made available for much of the anime community. Those people had to illegally download, view, or stream anime elsewhere. Also, those people supported the community. Hiromi does agree that piracy is a necessary evil (or used to be).
Hiromi is speaking about an ideal situation, but even if you did watch Studio Trigger’s works illegally, he says to please watch it on a legit streaming service as well because it leads to success for the general industry.
We got a question from faux_wizard from Reddit, I believe. By the way, thank you for your help a while back. The question is: “How did Mago end up working alongside Trigger?”
Okay, so this goes pretty back in the days. Wakabayashi was working on... There’s this idol unit called Emitsu Private Middle School [sp?]. Uh, I’m sorry. There’s this talent, named Ai Ai [sp?]. There was an offer to do an illustration on her; Wakabayashi had an offer to draw her, and Wakabayashi talked to Nishigori Atsushi, the director for DARLING in the FRANXX and character designer for Gurren Lagann, about how this person named Mago draws really cute girls.
So, Wakabayashi and Nishigori thought that Mago’s illustration style was cute, so they asked Mago to do a comic spin-off about Ai Ai. Mago agreed. Two months later, the studio started working on Kill la Kill and asked Mago if she was interested in creating the official SD designs for Kill la Kill. Ever since then, Mago has been working on various Studio Trigger titles.
It’s been maybe roughly seven years, Hiromi says, that they’ve been working with Mago. They’ve been working with Mago since before they were making anime series. It’s been a long time! Mago is the studio’s go-to person when they need a cute design, Wakabayashi says.
Wakabayashi says that when they were coming up with Space Patrol Luluco, which was their fifth-year anniversary anime title, they approached Mago. It was kind of a joke series at the same time as well.
There’s a question from cataphractz: “Do any of you have a particular anime character you like outside of Trigger?”
Mago’s favorite character outside of Trigger works is this pirate character from Nintama Rantarou. Have you ever heard of Nintama Rantarou? The series is about these little ninjas in training. The anime is very, very… it airs every day on NHK. It’s a longtime-running series in Japan. Mago’s favorite character’s name is Atoi, the pirate. He only appears about once a year in the series. Mago made a lot of doujin.
I guess Hiromi is going to Google some fan illustrations that Mago posted.
So, we were discussing that it’s hard to come up with a character that we like. We have so many characters that we like! We thought it might be easier to think of a character we that we like from a series we recently watched. Hiromi didn’t know! He couldn’t think of any off the top of his head, so he told me to go first!
The studio boss, Masahiko Ohtsuka, bought Porco Rosso on Blu-ray recently, and I watched it. That film has always been one of my more favorite Ghibli films. It’s like waifu wars! You guys get new waifus every month. I don’t get new waifus that frequently; it’s hard to choose from all the numerous waifus. I recently watched Porco Rosso. I liked Fio. Porco is awesome as well, but Fio is smashing cute. At the moment, I like Fio. That’s what I was trying to say to Hiromi.
Mago says that she likes SpongeBob because it’s such a cute and funny show. She likes Gary, the cat-like snail!
Hiromi says that he likes Gwen more for Spider-Verse.
All right, this question is from Kuribo4: “Did you know Luluco would turn into Trigger when you designed her? Love your characters!”
So, Wakabayashi says that this goes a little bit back. They kind of neck-wrote their mascot characters 5-6 years ago. They wanted to do an April Fools’ joke. At the time, the mascot characters didn’t have names, but they just went with “Trigger Girls” for the joke. The joke was about making a new anime series about the Trigger Girls. The illustration for the joke was drawn by Mago.
Then, a few years later, they had the opportunity to do Space Patrol Luluco. Hiromi personally wanted to link that series with Trigger Girls. That’s also the reason why he wanted Mago to be the character designer for Luluco. Wakabayashi says that he wanted Luluco to transform into Trigger Girl in the end. He made a special request to director Imaishi and pushed for Mago to be the designer.
Luluco has a weird pigtail, Wakabayashi says. Hiromi says he made the request specifically to Mago because he wanted the pigtail to turn into… I don’t know how “ahoge” translates. It’s like a bad hair day? I don’t know what it is! We call it ahoge! I hope that answers your question, Kuribo! I see the term “cowlick” for “ahoge.”
Mago is currently doing a stage performance in Osaka. The script is done by Nakashima Kazuki. I’m assuming it’s doing well. It’s a pretty popular title.
This question is from Patreon. The user name is Grandpa: “Waka-Sama, when are we getting another Promare trailer?”
Wakabayashi is explaining that you can expect a new trailer in the near future, very soon.
[In response to unvoiced questions on the chat log about pizza.] So, Wakabayashi likes pizza and coke. Mago doesn’t really have a favorite type of pizza. I wondered if she supported pineapple on pizza. She’s indifferent, so I’m guessing she’s okay with pineapple on pizza.
So, everybody says that Galo from Promare looks really close to Kamina from Gurren Lagann. Wakabayashi is curious if people really think that way. Why don’t people think that Galo looks like Mikisugi if we’re thinking about half-naked guys with blue hair, Wakabayashi asks?
Wakabayashi says that Galo’s hairstyle is very natural if you think about his profession, which is firefighting. When running into a fire, there is a lot of hot air coming up, and that’s why Galo’s hair is always spiked up. There’s almost a buzz on the side because the hair on the side burns off!
So, no_04, I’ve seen your name on Twitter a few times. I think you follow me on Twitter. You strike a good point. Galo is basically Panty’s hair with Kamina.
So, again, no_04 made a good point, Wakabayashi says. Panty is the main character of Panty and Stocking. Galo is obviously the main character of Promare. If you notice, when Ryuko gets her Kisaragi outfit in the final episode, her hair is kind of spiked upwards, too. In all of Imaishi’s work, his main characters have this spiky hair. Even before Imaishi was a professional, he had a fan manga with a character whose hair spiked up as well. The hairstyle is an icon for a main character in Imaishi’s work. The hairstyle represents Imaishi’s stance to rebel against whatever is oppressing him. That’s why a lot of the characters—especially main characters—have spiky hair in Imaishi’s works.
I have a question from maxie721 who asks, “What about Mago? Any special features in her characters?”
Mago answers that she doesn’t really have any special features in her characters. When she tries to think too deeply, things don’t work out; she feels like she restricts herself too much, and it kind of kills the illustration on a whole.
There’s a question from Tony on Patreon that asks, “Would Studio Trigger ever do a “Basics of a Trigger Animation” tutorial on a live stream?”
Wakabayashi says the content in a Trigger animation tutorial would be pretty lecture-like and might not be too entertaining. There is a producer at Trigger who likes doing tutorials, though, and goes to colleges to do so. They would need a different line of staff to do a tutorial, however.
For those who want to know how to draw in general, Wakabayashi says, these kinds of streams are basically a cheat guide for you guys, which is why we do it. We make the streams available for later. If you don’t have time to watch a 2-3-hour stream, we make an edited version available for later. We should upload the stream within a few days. However, we haven’t uploaded the March stream yet because the tech staff has been too busy. We’ll hopefully get to it soon. If you’re a Patreon supporter, we provide .psd files for these illustrations, which is even more of a reference to work with for those who are interested. Please do check it out!
There was a question earlier on our Twitch chat log. The question was something along the lines of, “I saw one of the rougher illustrations or rough takes on Lalaco Godspeed. Why did you decide on short, bob-like hair for Lalaco?”
Wakabayashi says the answer is that Lalaco had a big fur coat and didn’t want the hair to overlap with that coat. Also, in terms of the design process for animation, Wakabayashi says that shorter-haired girls tend to be perceived as more energetic or active. Girls with longer hair tend to be perceived more as… I have to choose my words properly. They’re not docile. That’s a bad word! [Laughing] “Calm” or “reserved” would be what I’m thinking of. Short hair was used, Wakabayashi says, because Lalaco’s obviously a very aggressive person, and they thought the short hair would better portray her personality.
There’s a question from no_04: “Was it difficult for Mago-san to adapt Gridman or the kaiju to the SD style for the line stickers?”
Mago says that the kaiju was not very hard for her. She had more trouble redesigning Gridman and his other mechs. So, Mago can draw monsters and kaiju because they’re basically animals, she says. However, she has trouble drawing mechs and robots.
So, Hiromi was asking if Mago was having trouble redesigning this black object that the studio asked her to draw (and of which he can’t give too many details about).
So, this was a question from berikpo: “What are Mago’s favorite accessories to wear and to draw?”
Mago’s answer was sneakers. She likes Nike Air Force 1 in particular. However, the one she owns most are Air Jordans.
We have a question from Kikoman589: “Has Mago’s childhood or upbringing influenced her art in any way?”
When Mago was very young, her first manga she ever bought was Urusei Yatsura. She feels like she was pretty heavily influenced from that series. She used to copy from that book a lot and drew her own illustrations.
I asked Mago about why she doesn’t draw any male characters. I was curious if she doesn’t like drawing males. She doesn’t! She likes drawing girls! Hiromi asked about Nova, who is a guy. Mago says that that’s the reason for there not being much passion.
I guess I got it a little wrong, but Mago doesn’t like drawing male characters. Old dudes are out of the question. Luluco’s father was actually designed by another of the main animators.
This question was from k3shanberk. They ask when Mago committed to a career of drawing.
Mago says she hasn’t really committed herself to drawing yet. If she gets offers for her illustrations or her designs, she thinks she can get herself into another line of work immediately.
Last year, Mago felt she needed to take a little break from drawing to gain a bit of sanity. She worked part-time at a shoe store for a while.
Mago’s nickname was “Mago” when she was younger. She just picked that up as her penname or handle for illustration. I don’t think she feels comfortable sharing her full name.
Ex_trident asks, “Any kind of media you guys are into lately? Like a specific movie, a song, novels, or even games?”
I guess Hiromi is into Legos right now. Hiromi bought some kind of kit for Lego Movie 2. The film isn’t available in Japan right now. He’s too busy to build it because he has to work on Promare. If Hiromi has time, he wants to make vehicles or mechs from Promare with his Lego kits.
I guess Mago was playing Fortnite on iPad. I didn’t even know you could play that on iPad! I’m surprised! Again, I’m surprised that Fortnite is playable on iPad.
Hiromi says that maybe they’ll do some streaming on the Kill la Kill game when the game is released. Maybe Mago can stop by and play as well, he says!
There’s another question from no_04: “Is Wakabayashi planning to continue Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt: CEMETERY HILLS story where Nova means Panty and Brief in the end?”
By the way, Hiromi would like to inform everyone that CEMETERY HILLS is not a Panty and Stocking series. There is no relation with Panty and Stocking, but he would like to continue.
Sorry, there is a relationship between the two. In Panty and Stocking, the main character is Panty, but in CEMETERY HILLS, the main character is Geekboy; that’s the distinction. Hiromi would like to make a sequel. In the next sequel, Hiromi would like to introduce gun morphing like in Space Patrol Luluco in Panty and Stocking as well. He would like to see Panty transform into a gun!
There’s a question from evsanata: “Does Mago have any favorite artists? Who are the artists that have inspired her and influenced shaping her art?
I think we answered the later part of this question already. We’ll answer the first half now. Mago’s favorite illustrator and animator is Akiman. Mago’s first encounter with Akiman was over the Internet. There was a special forum where Akiman regularly converses with his fans, and that’s where Mago first met him. At that time, Akiman was looking for an assistant to help him with his series. Mago took that job and was helping Akiman for quite a bit.
Mago doesn’t remember how long she had that job. However, ever since she helped Akiman out, they have been in contact with each other. As such, Akiman has been a good moral support for Mago ever since the job.
totallynotnameddan says, “It was unclear from your phrasing. Is this supposed to detail the origin of gun morphing ‘cause that would be cool?”
I’m sorry if it was unclear. Hiromi wanted to make Panty able to transform into a gun with gun morphing as well.
How many of you have visited Comic Market? Have you visited Mago’s booth for Comic Market?
InfectedAdri asks, “Mago-san, how’s your dog doing?”
Mago says her dog is doing well. I guess she took her Chihuahua grooming, and now the dog is looking like a baby. There are two types of Chihuahuas, she explained. The one that I’m familiar with has short hair, so I wondered if Chihuahuas really need grooming. She says there are two types: one with long hair and one with short hair. Her Chihuahua has long hair, so if she doesn’t take her dog to grooming every once in a while, he has dingleberries, where the poop gets stuck in the hair. He needs regular maintenance.
ThexIncinerator asks, “What are the next conventions lined up for you guys? Will Mago be appearing at any of them?”
Wakabayashi says that he doesn’t think they’ve announced any of their 2019 events yet. They haven’t visited many conventions because they’ve been working on Promare. As soon as they finish Promare, they’ll probably make their presence at various cons. Mago is planning to appear at Comitia, which is a lot smaller than Comic Market and only allows original titles.
Personally, I like Comitia better than Comic Market.
It is Mago’s birthday in April, so she plans to do a birthday event! She will probably announce that. She wants to be pampered once in a while.
PraQnickstream asks, “Where can we find the dates of those comic events?”
Just Google Comitia. It takes place four times a year, so it’s a pretty frequent event.
Mago’s birthday is on April 11th. It might be on a different date! Mago doesn’t have too much of a pleasant memory… in Japan, you change your grade level every April. In April, you have a new class with new classmates. It’s hard to have a welcoming environment even if it’s your birthday. Mago didn’t have a very cheerful experience.
Ulric10 asks, “Idk if you’re gonna answer this, but could I have some tips for drawing like you?”
Mago says to draw what interests you and what you want to draw. So, if you just simply want to draw for your own entertainment, Mago says, draw just what pleases you. However, Mago says that if you want to get good at drawing, you should draw your own manga. You’ll be forced to draw various angles and backgrounds that you probably wouldn’t enjoy drawing otherwise, so you’ll gain experience.
There’s a question from NeoCoill from Patreon: What is Trigger's stance when it comes to creators making profit through fanworks of Trigger’s characters and shows (e.g. Doujinshi sold at Comiket or digitally)?
So, Hiromi thinks that it’s similar to cosplay...
Mago finished drawing! This is the final illustration! The illustration will be available on our Patreon page. If you’re interested, please do support us. All of the money goes to our creators, illustrators, and character designers who make guest appearances to our streams. None of the money goes to the studio. The support is appreciated.
Let’s finish up the question. Hiromi was saying that it’s similar to cosplay. If they shut out every aspect of fan community activities, it kind of halts the growth of their content as well. Even though they came up with the designs and concepts of these characters, for people who sell doujin and fanart, they are ultimately the ones drawing the individual art pieces. He doesn’t think that it’s right to say that it’s not their work to sell. Hirmoi personally doesn’t have anything against doujin or fanarts. He’s genuinely happy about people drawing their characters. If that’s what people do, they should continue to do it, he says.
Mago is happy to see her characters on other people’s doujins. She thinks that if you draw, it would be awesome to draw more of her characters in your doujins and illustrations.
We would like to ask Mago what her selling point for her illustration today is.
So, when Mago usually receives a commission or request for illustration, there’s always an offer from the client talking about the proportions of the characters, and these proportions are made pretty specific. It’s hard to organize these proportions. Today, Mago drew two characters who are basically the same character and have the same proportions. Mago is proud that the two characters are in the same proportion and will pat her own back!
This will be our last stream until maybe June. We need to concentrate on the production for Promare. We will take maybe two months off from our stream activity, but we will continue our smaller activities on Patreon. We upload the monthly shikishi for our supporters to see and will continue to do that. The livestreaming will have to wait until June when we finish Promare, though.
Thank you for coming to our stream. I bet it’s like 5:00 am on the west or east coast.
Would you guys watch if we streamed like random people from Studio Trigger playing games? We were curious. For example, would you like to see me and Hiromi play Apex? We might be able to do those kind of stupid—not stupid; I mean non-creative—streams in the near future. We’ll have to stop on the illustration streams until June, but there’s a big response for these gaming streams, so we might have to do that!
All right. That will be it for tonight’s stream. Thank you for your participation. Have a good night, everyone.

Trinidad And Tobago
Don't forget to include online pharmacies in your search, as they often have the best prices, and you can save a lot of money on a prescription. Bring your ID and a form of payment — cash or debit are your best bets — and you should be able to get a money order easily and conveniently. Really you get more energy when you move more. So are we going to get the generic Propecia soon? Corporation Committees are each chaired by an Alderman. Unfortunately, there are still too many Coloradans who earn too much to qualify for Medicaid but struggle to afford the cost of private insurance. Employers with fewer than 15 employees may still exclude pregnancy disabilities unless they are subject to state laws to the contrary. By providing employees the peace of mind to tend to life’s most important moments, we will be able to improve productivity and employee retention while attracting employers to the state. While some countries have imposed total ban on the use of plastic bags, those that have not are increasingly encouraging citizens to refrain from using the bags. Pouring stabilizer into storage containers helps, but does not extend the life of the gasoline for extensive long-term use. Some other clubs include the Horticultural Society, Trinidad and Tobago German Club, the Orchid Society, the Field Naturalists Society, Living Waters Christian Community, an informal Jewish community, and other groups. In particular, many managed care plans abandoned capitation as a form of physician reimbursement, canada online pharmacy although some global cap systems were retained or modified for larger provider groups. ] The doctors must be registered with the Care Quality Commission. This is a must for anyone considering mail order steroids online. Employees may prefer insurance to some other form of funding in order to obtain the financial backing of an outside financial institution. Nitrazepam tablets may influence how your muscles function or may make you feel tired or distracted. Sport drinks can contain a lot of calories which may mean you will be consuming more calories than you are burning while exercising. Gail, they mean true sweet potatoes, not yams! All Natural also means you save money on costly prescription drugs and you avoid harsh side effects, all while receiving improved benefits fighting Diabetes. This is important as people with disabilities include people with diabetes. I had a bit about everything and a little bit about the City of Hamilton and the people with warm and friendly smiles. Furthermore, as of 2000, over 17% of people over age 60 abuse prescription drugs, many of them doing so unwittingly. Canadians are being deserted and abused in much the same manner as Americans, because of their version of our CDC prescription guidelines. My kids want to do the same with me! Boats, tractor-trailers, and airplanes will cease to move goods as well. By contrast, Tobago diving is well organized with equipment and instruction available; the reefs, clear water, and tropical fish provide for excellent diving opportunities. Swimming can be dangerous at any beach in Trinidad because of frequent heavy surf, rip-tides, and undertows. If you ever have a concern you can contact [email protected] or call our call centre which is located in Vancouver, BC and open 7 days a week. Two observations can be made about this trend. The one government-owned TV station operates separate programs on two channels. Causally not rotationally tired, drug companies reunite free medications, but rarely, if ever publicize the programs. Having said that, I have thrown diced cubes of SP’s outside where I know the rats are getting in and exiting about four times and I haven’t noticed a difference. I used to have 2 but after a few killed they got smart and didn’t go in so they were useless. As a pharmacist, I have actually had a patient YELL at me NOT to call the PCP for a refill because she was a afraid that I would "rat her out" for not taking her thyroid meds as prescribed. Nitrazepam has a place with a gathering of meds called benzodiazepines. I am going to try the NOW company mint on cotton balls too. There is now a DEFINITE problem.. The PBGC now has substantial ability to involve itself in mergers, acquisitions, and sales when the sponsor of an under-funded plan is involved. FEMA estimates grocery store shelves will be empty in three days - but in all reality, that will happen in mere hours. The majority of plans using this approach allow employees to accumulate unused sick leave up to some maximum amount, which rarely exceeds six months (sometimes specified as 180 days or 26 weeks). After a couple days of testing Humalog my numbers in general started rising. Rifles are not legal hunting weapons here. Therefore, non-prescription medicines at non-prescription strength, whether in ointment, cream, pill, liquid, spray, or any other form are considered first aid. Although some improvements are under way, many roads and streets (with the exception of a few major highways) are narrow, full of potholes, and poorly maintained.

Won't attend Adityanath's swearing in, not invited yet: Akhilesh Yadav
Tumblr media
Samajwadi Party (SP) President Akhilesh Yadav has said that he will not attend the swearing in ceremony of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday, as he has not been invited yet.
"I am not going to the swearing in ceremony of Yogi Adityanath because I have not been invited yet. I will not go to attend the event if I am invited now," Akhilesh said while talking to reporters in Azamgarh late on Monday evening.
Asked whether he will retain his Lok Sabha seat or Assembly seat, the SP chief said that the decision will be taken keeping the party's interest in mind.
"Decision on whether I should continue as an MP or MLA would be taken by keeping the party's interest in mind. I want to know from you, what I should do? I am also seeking the opinion of senior leaders of the party on this issue," he said.
Akhilesh also appeared to have softened his stand on the EVM row as he said that now it is not the time to discuss this issue, but he questioned the role of administration.
"To divert attention and ensure that there is no demand for review of how BJP won the election, the government has started promoting the film 'The Kashmir Files'. The result of the Uttar Pradesh election is completely different from the people's expectations. Now, the BJP should ensure that profit being made by 'The Kashmir Files' is spent on rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits. A committee should be formed for rehabilitation of the Kashmiri Pandits," he added.

Journey to the Middle of the Bering Sea - Adventures in St Paul
Last week I traveled to St. Paul for the first trip of the co-management review. Thanks to guidance from Steering Committee member Lauren Divine, Co-Director of the Aleut Community of St Paul Island (ACSPI) Ecosystem Conservation Office, I was able to visit the ACSPI during their Co-management Council and Tribal Council meetings. Not only did I observe both of these meetings, I was also able to hold the first focus group with the members of the Tribal Council and interview people who are closely tied to marine mammal co-management on the island.
Photo: Focus group with the ACSPI Tribal Council. Credit: Lauren Divine
Tumblr media
During the focus group, I heard from some of the community members who helped to start and since manage the subsistence harvest of fur seals once the commercial harvest ended in the mid-1980s. They described the changes in the fur seal population that they have seen over the last several decades. Though the current regulations say that 2000 fur seals may be harvested in a year, the actual numbers taken have been in the hundreds. The commercial harvest ended over 30 years ago and only sub-adult  male fur seals (1-4 years old) may be harvested, but the population continues to decline and the ACSPI is feeling the effects of having fewer seals to harvest. Currently, the harvest regulations are being evaluated based on a petition formally filed by ACSPI to NOAA in 2012 (though the community has been requesting changes for much longer than the last 6 years).
Photo: Male fur seal sleeping on the rocks near the Reef Rookery on St Paul
Tumblr media
We discussed how the Steller sea lion population is continuing to decline as well and usually less than 30 sea lions are successfully hunted in a year. One of the major obstacles with hunting sea lions is that when they are in the water, many animals are struck but then lost (’struck and loss’) due to the fact that they tend to sink quickly once hit. Sometimes, hunters may find the animal on shore in the following days in a condition that is still useful. Sea lions are also harvested by other groups, such as the Aleut Marine Mammal Commission, and I am very interested to hear if/how hunting of sea lions differs in other communities such as Atka and Akutan when I visit the Aleutians later this year.
Photos: Lauren Divine and I sitting in a sea lion blind used by hunters to wait for sea lions to get close to shore (top); apparently they didn’t see us because two sea lions swam by while were were there - I was able to snap a quick shot of one of their heads (bottom). Credit (top): Mike LeVine, Ocean Conservancy)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When I wasn’t attending meeting or conducting interviews, I had a lot of time to explore the island and learn more about the history of St Paul. Lauren showed me all of the great spots to take photos and gave me a better understanding of how things on the island work, like the Ecosystem Conservation Office (ECO) that she co-directs. Check out the latest news from them, like the marine debris cleanup that Ocean Conservancy ran with students earlier this week, on the ECO Facebook page. There are so many other fun and interesting things that I want to share from my trip so I’ve decided that the best way to do this is through pictures and short captions. Here we go!
Loved this sign that you see when you get to the St Paul Airport. There are in fact fur seals in the Galapagos, so I’m guessing that is where the reference comes from?
Tumblr media
One of the first residents that I saw - the seal made of marine debris! This awesome sculpture was made last summer by the ECO folks with help from kids in the community
Tumblr media
The topography of the island really amazed me! You could go from smooth boulder beaches, to sharp cliffs, and then sand beaches - all within a short span of shoreline. On one of the boulder beaches, I found something very familiar from my days on the Maine coast - Fucus sp or bladderwrack. Though a different species than back home, it was still so cool to find it out in the Bering Sea.
Tumblr media
Just around the bend from here were some pretty impressive cliffs. It was very windy and while I was looking down over the cliff, I thought I heard people laughing/talking. When I looked to my left, there were a bunch of thick billed murres staring right back at me! On other cliffs I also saw kittiwakes, several species of auklets, and puffins - it’s no wonder the island is a huge draw for birders.
Tumblr media
Intermixed with the rocky cliffs are sandy beaches. This is one of 14 rookeries on the island. Vacant now, in a few weeks to a month, it’ll be covered in fur seals.
Tumblr media
Away from the shoreline, the terrain often looked smooth but was actually full of rock or grass hummocks that made hiking a fun challenge. St Paul is a volcanic island so has lava tube caves and other features, including the large rock fields seen below.
Tumblr media
Back to some other cool sites around the island - to protect the fur seals on the rookeries but still allow people to view them, several blinds were built near rookeries. However one of these blinds has been removed completely and the one shown below is a safety hazard - the stairs have been sawed off to discourage anyone from using the platform. The loss of these blinds may cause substantial problems when tourists visit the island.
Tumblr media
I forgot to ask what these structures where along the shore...observation decks perhaps, but if you look to the left of the structure you’ll see an Arctic fox hanging out on the rocks. I saw so many foxes on the island - they are very good at blending in and being inconspicuous (bottom photo).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The store on the island was just taken over by the Tribe and is undergoing some major changes. I was so impressed with the variety of goods they had there from food to couches and washing machines, and Wrangler jeans. Though many prices are much higher than on the main land, some were fairly reasonable.
Tumblr media
There is also an amazing Community Arts Center (CAC) that serves as a creative outlet for anyone who’s interested. The CAC offers a variety of classes and even has a pottery studio downstairs. There were some awesome paintings on display around the CAC that demonstrated the talent and interests of the community.
Tumblr media
Overall, it was a really wonderful trip and I learned so much about co-management, the ACSPI, and the island itself. Here is one of my favorites, though I was freezing cold in the wind and intermittent snow. There were a bunch of walrus skulls on the beach - we even found one that had a fully intact snout. I’m very excited for my next adventure in June!

Leroy Nathaniel Chapman, Sr.
June 11, 1947 – August 28, 2020
This slideshow requires JavaScript.
A man of purpose and influence
Has Been Called…..
“Our deepest sympathies go out to Mr. Leroy Chapman, Sr.’s family, friends, and the countless people who have been inspired by his leadership as a role model,” The Napolean & Ada Moton Chapman Institute Founder Mr. Echol Chapman said. “My 1st cousin and I was like brothers. Leroy was a supporters of The Napolean & Ada Moton Chapman Institute, and we will forever be mindful of the generosity shown to The Napolean & Ada Moton Chapman Institute.   My 1st cousin “Leroy was an amazing, multi-talented humanitarian, and I will miss him.”
I would like to share an article written by his son, Leroy, Jr:
From Son to Father….
Dad turned 70 last week.
It’s a milestone birthday for Leroy Chapman Sr. for two reasons.
As a Baptist deacon, he knows the biblical significance of age 70.
Psalms 90:10 says “The days of our years are threescore years and ten.”
Dad has spent his years obeying the biblical commands of men to love the Lord, to teach their children, to honor their wives and to build a spiritual inheritance. I can vouch for him.
Age 70 also carries significance to him as a son. His father, my grandfather, died when he was 70 years old. It was 1979, and I was 8 years old when Aaron Chapman succumbed to cancer.
Through those eyes, Granddaddy seemed old.
Through these eyes, my 70-year-old father seems young.
Men are destined to become their fathers, and it’s my great hope that I, like Leroy Chapman Sr., can make it to 70 years young. Like him I would like to live a life of singular purpose and uncommon decency. Like him I’d like to do it without a single regret.
Doesn’t mean my dad is perfect or ever has been. It means the direction of his life was correct from day one. So even his stumbles pushed him closer to who he wanted to be. A good Christian, a good family man, a good Marine/guardsman, an asset to his family and community.
And even at this age, I’m finding it tough to measure up.
We all remember the wonder of invincible dad, the one you looked up to when you were 6 years old. The man with the strength, wisdom and courage to do anything and conquer all. I remember being that guy when my kids were young.
We remember sage dad, who you discover in young adulthood when you figure out how much time, cost and sacrifice it takes to raise a family and deprive it nothing. I still can’t figure out how my parents gave us a life I considered to be privileged given their modest paychecks.
I now see a  man in full.  In full control, in full blossom at the height of his influence.
Dad has always made a living with a steady pair of hands and a strong back.
He’s a retired S.C. National Guardsman and a retired textile worker. Before that he was an active-duty Marine, who served a combat tour in Vietnam. You know, guys like him can’t sit down. In retirement, he picked up a job doing janitorial and maintenance work for the Greenville County School system. His latest assignment is at Greer High School.
Keeps him busy. Keeps him surrounded by young people and optimism.
Keeps him in front of children who benefit from seeing a dad in full.
At school, Leroy Chapman Sr. is an example of a present, caring father for hundreds of kids. We live in an age where too many children are estranged from their fathers, who never experience care and affection from an elder male.
When he’s not working, he’s at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in West Greenville. He’s president of the Male Chorus, which celebrated an anniversary last week. He’s a past president of the deacon board. And true to his personality, he’s a consummate “glue guy”— he works to keep it all together, no matter the task, no matter the ask.
A considerable amount of his time there is spent feeding the poor, mentoring youth and housing the elderly.
So while I oversee teams of journalists who support the Deep South’s largest newspaper, I’m convinced that I am not as influential as he is.
I can touch a few keys and shout at the world.
But I don’t think that measures up to someone who has dedicated themselves to touching people – in person, face to face.
It underscores one of the most valuable lessons my dad has taught me, one I’ve passed along to my boys.
There is one thing a man must do to exert his influence and take his rightful place as a builder, instructor and protector. He’s got to show up.
And at 70, my dad is still showing up.
“Lord has accepted into his presence and good and faithful servant.”

Membership is vital to the growth of an organization. It is the members and supporters that keep our organization prospering towards reaching the needs of the children, youths, and young people we fight for on a daily basis. Whether it is attending a workshop, seminar , or conference, volunteering an hour of your time in one of our offices, or chairing your own committee, it is you that keeps The Napolean  & Ada Moton Chapman Institute moving and developing, and we appreciate your interest and commitment in our fight to pursue an adequate education for all, leaving no child behind.
