Intel is developing a space optical modem - it will provide communication between different satellites.

Intel revealed some details about its work in the Space-Based Adaptive Communications Node (Space-BACN) program of the American Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) - the company is involved in the creation of a universal optical communication system between satellites, including between civilian and military vehicles from different groupings. This is a kind of orbital internet.

Intel is working on the first phase of the program, which in turn is divided into technical areas, and the company is working with the University of Arizona in Technical Area 2 (TA2) to design a configurable optical modem that will support both existing and future standards and communication protocols.

The optical modem consists of three chiplets that will interact using the proprietary EMIB (Embedded Multi-Die Interconnect Bridge) bus and the accompanying AIB (Advanced Interface Bus) chiplet connection technology. Welp, it's finished. My employer, Spacelink, has ceased operations. I'll get my paycheck, I'll be physically fine. But the last few months have been so emotionally frustrating.

I worked for a tech startup, and my team existed to illustrate and quantify how useful our product could be. What we do better than what already exists, what does a potential customer's life look like with us.

And we got a lot of interest! The ability to get information off a satellite immediately, without waiting for it to travel over a ground antenna, is something reserved for government programs and manned spaceflight.

But what we didn't get was enough upfront funding to actually get into orbit. Call it bad timing, even those who believe we could have been profitable didn't front the bill.

Our board has been great. You don't hear that a lot on this site, but at a 30-person company there isn't really room for big egos. They kept the rest of us informed about what's been going on. To be honest I've been aware this was possible for three quarters of a year, now.

I don't know if this was going to have a point. Just, appreciate what you have. And, que sera, sera.

Woo!!! After forever I finally finished drawing this batch of ocs!!! I’m so excited to finally post them, it’s taken some real restraint to wait until they’re all done so I can post them as a set lol. Click on the pics for a better view!

But these are all the members of Pandemonium, aka The Grimdark Guild. A rival guild to the main cast, they’re literally all about the chaos, with more edgy darkly-inclined look to them they’ve sort of gained a reputation as being the gothic guild, but that might not hold equally true for all members. Still they all welcome the strange and macabre, and about expressing yourself in any way you see fit. Do whatever the fuck you want! It’s chaos! It’s Pandemonium baby!
