Hi! So I just found out that Isaac Albéniz was Catalan. I’ve heard some of his works on classical radio; what is he famous for composing? Are there any other Catalan classical composers we should know about?
I'm sorry, I started answering and left this in my drafts and forgot!
Yes, Isaac Albéniz was Catalan from the village Camprodon. His most famous work is a collection called "Iberia" of music inspired by places around the folk music of the Iberian peninsula, most importantly Andalusia (south). One of the most well-known songs is this one, called Asturies (located in the north, on the Atlantic coast):

He's one of the most famous composers of the Catalan modernist music movement. The other most famous one is Enric Granados

and also Josep Anselm Clavé though he's more famous for his role as creator of the workers' choirs than by his compositions.
when you get this ask you have to answer with 5 of ur fav songs and then send this ask to 10 of ur favourite followers :)
If you feel like it, of course. :P ;)
Wait this means I'm in your top ten favorite followers?!?! Woot! Woot!
Uh - uh - well I don't really have specific "favorites", and when I do they change quickly, and also I just like a lot of music XD So have a random assortment of classic faves and/or stuff I've been into lately!
One Winged Angel - Beta Version by SilvaGunner (current hyperfixation; listening on repeat, thank you, goodbye)
End of an Empire - Instrumental by Celldweller (always a good time for this song, makes me want to get things done/drive fast/write something/etc. Real banger!)
Rockmen - Battle by Ben Prunty (A bop!)
Heatherwood Hall by Ari Pulkkinen (so pretty!)
Diablo Rojo by Rodrigo y Gabriela (also listened to this on repeat for a bit, enough that I'm now getting YouTube ads in Spanish, if that tells you anything haha)
All songs are linked to YouTube for your listening displeasure! :D
Heard this Caroline Polacheck song at one of her concerts half a year ago and couldn't wait to get a real version of it. It's great and very Spanish guitar-y, might give you flash backs to the 90s when every song was mandated to have Spanish guitar for no reason.
Produced by Sega Bodega.
