teds parents used to take him to poland every year over the summer to keep him in touch with his heritage. when they died and pete got placed in his care, ted started doing the same to keep pete in touch w his heritage too. they both speak to each other primarily in polish and are both completely fluent in it. they never tell anyone they speak it, however, so anytime someone comes over and they start talking to each other in polish they immediately go “WHAT THE FUCK YOU SPEAK POLISH?!” they find it hilarious every time

the thing about the spankoffski brothers is that ted tries so hard to have rizz but simply does not
meanwhile pete puts 0% into being attractive and then in multiple universes steph talks to him for like a minute and instantly falls in love with him
and i love them both dearly

The Belated Tragedy of Ted
I think a lot about how the introduction of Pete as a fully-formed character changes how the fandom perceives Ted's role in the wider Hatchetfield story.
Like, at first it was just Ted--office sleazeball, horny bastard, selfish coward, and ultimate loser. Sure, he’s hilarious, imminently watchable, and imbued with surprising moments of depth and pathos, but at the end of the day Ted was still that gross guy who’s penchant for dying became of one Hatchetfield’s most beloved recurring gags. The story goes: Ted’s a douche, someone kills him for some silly reason, Tinky jiggles his toy box, and we all roll our eyes and laugh--“Oh Ted, dying again. What a pathetic drowned rat of a man, lmao.”
But then we got to truly meet Pete, unironically the coolest kid in Hatchetfield, who chooses to sacrifice himself to save the world in direct contrast to Ted’s choice to run and abandon Paul to the Apotheosis. Pete, who is good and kind and gentle and brave and everything his disastrous brother is not. Pete, who, despite it all, really loves Ted.
And suddenly Ted’s deaths, routine as clockwork (tick tock, Teddy Bear), stop being just a reliably good joke about a horny bastard and instead also become about the heartbreak of a good, heroic kid who deserves far better than burying his beloved older brother.
I dunno, I just think it’s a really interesting example of how world-building can manipulate how the audience thinks about certain characters or moments only tangentially related to the piece of story being developed.
Also, I just the love the Spankoffskis, different as they are. There's that, too.

I just have this image in my head of homeless!Ted recognising Pete out in public. He’s got this sweet little faraway smile on his face as he watches him and mutters “Petey…! That’s my baby brother…!” to no-one. Pete barely even notices him
Or maybe Pete, for once, is the only one in his friend group who decides to actually throw a little bit of spare change into the homeless guy’s cup as they’re all walking by and Ted looks up to thank the kind stranger and realises, and can’t say anything, just stares as Pete keeps walking, until he’s almost out of sight. “Oh…” he picks up the cup to look inside it, then back towards Pete, “Thank you, Petey…”

so i remember seeing a post somewhere here talking about how if joey richter had a mustache on a stick/stick-on mustache he could easily play both ted and pete in the same scene, and i love that idea, but if it were to happen i do want one part to be included about pete wanting a mustache, something like
Pete: You know, I've been thinking about growing a mustache.
Ted, while smoothing out his mustache: You? (he turns to face pete) With a mustache? (he laughs) Like you could ever pull off a mustache.
Pete: Hey! I would look great with a mustache!
basically i want a scene where pete and ted talk about how pete would look terrible with a mustache aka joey richter putting on and taking off a mustache while telling himself he would look stupid with a mustache and arguing with himself
