What flavor of Instant Lunch is your favorite? If that’s a brand, I’ve never heard of it.

Do you have to pay rent/bills? I don’t and my parents don’t force me to, but I contribute a portion from every paycheck I get (twice a month) to help them out.

As much as possible I use my e-wallet then just scan the QR codes at the malls or restaurants or whatever, but some places still prefer cash so for instances like those I would still have to withdraw from the ATM. Occasionally I’ll pay for stuff with my card, mostly when I’m too lazy to withdraw.

Don't ATM fees piss you off? I always withdraw from my bank’s ATMs so that I don’t have to pay fees.

If I handed you a hundred dollar bill, what would you do with it? Use it as extra Christmas shopping budget for family and friends.

foreword: Hi, everyone! I’m so glad you’re reading this. I’ve always wanted to do an analysis series of Haikyuu!!, and I think now that I have so much free time on my hands, this is the perfect time to start. I decided to start out with a character analysis on Hinata Shoyo, since he’s the protagonist of the series. The three topics I will cover are: his character, his character development, and the final arc. The topics about his development and the final arc contain spoilers, so beware! Please enjoy, and everything I say is left up for debate, addition, and correction!

HINATA’S CHARACTER

NOMENCLATURE | Since we are talking about a character, we should look at his, well, character. This kid’s name is Hinata Shoyo, and according to the Wiki, his name means “Place in the sun/Sunny place” (Hinata), and “Flying heaven” (Shoyo). Part of his last name, Hina, means a chick or a baby bird. We should know by now that the meaning of his last name is intentional - multiple times he is referred to as the sun in the manga and anime. He is often compared to Tsukishima, who is referred to as the moon. Like Hinata, he was given that name also with intention. I’m pretty sure the story mentions this, but the reason Hinata was given this name was because of how much he shines. Not just because of his personality, because of course, he is a very bright person, but his whole character shines. He radiates - the effects of his “sunshine,” per se, is found in the character development of multiple people - Yachi, Kenma, Hyakuzawa, Kageyama, and even Tsukishima.

MOON AND SUN | I’m going to side-track and talk about the relationship between Tsukishima and Hinata for a little bit - the story mentions this, but it’s worth noting and it leads into what I’m going to say next. Tsukishima and Hinata are like night and day, respectively. Hinata is bright like the day - he shines and radiates the sunshine off on other people. They bask in his light and become better people because of it. Tsukishima, on the other hand, is more lowkey; he prefers not to talk to people rather than to interact, and, initially, he has no interest in improvement. Plants don’t grow during the night (I will refer to this analogy later). The point is: one can only see the moon when sunlight reflects off of it (I think that’s how the moon’s brightness works; all I know is that the sun’s light is involved lol). Therefore, the effects of Hinata’s presence and his “shine” has affected Tsukishima so much that he is able to shine even “in the night”. So besides Kageyama and perhaps Kenma, Tsukishima is one of the people to be most affected by Hinata’s personality.

APPEARANCE | Okay, now I’m going to talk about Hinata’s appearance. He’s short, he has orange hair, and always has the brightest smile on his face. Except when he has to make a point like “We haven’t won yet,” where he’s got that awfully creepy and sinister smile on his face. But I’m going to get back to that. First- his height. When we first get to know Hinata, the very first note of his height is where he stands at 162.8 cm/5’4 ft. (April 2012). He’s as tall as I am! But he’s not tall enough for volleyball, and he is constantly looked down (literally and metaphorically) for that fact. His opponents, and even his teammates, don’t realize the hidden potential that hides within Hinata. So it becomes ironic when there are people who are taller than Hinata, and they “look up” to him. Notably, Hyakuzawa. During the first-year’s training camp in Season 4/To The Top (AKA Ball Boy Arc), there’s a scene in which Hyakuzawa is sitting on the ground while leaning against the wall. He’s looking up at Hinata, who stands in front of him. He tells Hinata that he should have been invited instead of him, which is very ironic because when Karasuno played against his school (I don’t remember which school oops), he was seen as this very intimidating guy despite his lack of experience. Anyways, the point is - despite Hinata’ s height, he makes up for it with ability and talent, to which others who are much taller than he is are just in awe, and perhaps jealous, that he could go past this misfortune of his and strengthen his other skills instead.

ELEMENTS OF HORROR | “We haven’t won yet,” Hinata says, with the most sinister smile on his face. No, man, it’s not sinister. He’s just in the moment. Of course, he doesn’t mean to pull off that kind of scary face, it’s not in him. Yet the face he makes, along with the tone of voice he uses when saying those four words, just gets people. It chills them right to the bone because it’s so unlike Hinata yet it is so like Hinata. He is the type of person to persist on and encourage himself and others just by saying “We haven’t won yet,” but he doesn’t make that type of face. So… why does he make that type of face? The reason is the author’s choice. Furudate loves horror and drew Hinata’s face with a sinister expression. That’s the simple reason, but I believe there is so much more to that. Furudate could have based his entire style on a horror-like manga, despite it being quite out-of-place as it is a manga about volleyball, but if that’s what he wants, that’s what he wants. However, he chose to draw that particular scene with a horror-type feel because that’s what the others see. That’s what everyone who watched Hinata say those four words saw. His expression, his eyes… everything about it chilled them to the bone and Furudate wanted it to make it clear to the reader that that’s how we are supposed to perceive his words. Because if he drew it any other way, it would have come off as Hinata jumping up and down exclaiming with a super-happy voice, “We haven’t won yet! Let’s keep going, guys!” But no- it’s supposed to be creepy because everyone else saw it as creepy.

CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT

SPOILER WARNING! | This section is very spoiler-heavy! Please don’t read this section if you do not want to be spoiled for the outcomes of the nationals!

THE BALL BOY ARC | I will be covering Hinata’s character development all throughout season 4 because I think that this is the most important development to Hinata’s character. I’ll begin with the Ball Boy Arc, where Hinata must swallow his pride after entering the first-year training camp uninvited. Of course, Hinata had good intentions when he arrived, but he did not realize the consequences of his actions. Before, when he heard that Kageyama and Tsukishima were invited to these training camps, the first thought that ran through Hinata’s mind was “Why wasn’t I invited?” Yes, Hinata realizes his strength and the growth he has made throughout the time he had been practicing volleyball, but it seemed to him that he just wasn’t good enough. Upon arriving at the training camp, Coach Washijo immediately denies him to practice with the rest and so Hinata swallows his pride and announces himself as only the ball boy, nothing more. This is important because he is actually telling everybody there that he really just is not good enough.

KAGEYAMA’S SUPPORT | Coach Washijo tells Hinata that he is no good without the support of Kageyama. This comes across as a slap to the face for the poor boy, but I believe the coach told him this for two reasons. One, Washijo does not want to admit to the fact that Hinata is definitely strong and is an amazing player, but, two, Hinata is not strong without Kageyama and so he therefore cannot participate in a camp where Kageyama is not there to support him. This opens up Hinata’s eyes and he realizes that he must not rely on Kageyama all the time; after all, Kageyama is his rival. I don’t know if I’m right on this, but this is one of the two times where Hinata trains and learns without Kageyama’s help. The other time was when he practiced with Coach Ukai, the senior. If I’m wrong, please let me know!

HINATA’S COLLAPSE | Progressively throughout Season 4 we see that Hinata gains lines under his eyes. I saw two twitter posts that mention these- the first about how they could be “crow’s feet,” and the second about how they are lines of exhaustion. I agree with the second post. Throughout the season we observe how hard Hinata works and that sometimes he pushes his limits. He calls his coach to ask him about what he should eat, but I don’t know if we ever see him eat what Ukai tells him to eat. If we do… then, okay then. Lol. Anyways, not only are his eating habits being rearranged, it is also assumed that Hinata bikes home very late at night every day during the training camp at Shiratorizawa. He goes home with his heart pumping so he probably goes to sleep at an even later time. So Hinata also has a bad sleep schedule, and you know how hard it is to try and revert a bad sleep schedule… Hinata is also shown at times during nationals to be wide awake at night. With this, we can tell that he is exhausted. He is tired and in need of a rest. But he doesn’t give himself a rest, because all he wants is to prove to others, and himself, that he is good. And this leads to his downfall- his collapse in the middle of the Kamomedai VS Karasuno game. Hinata catches a fever all because he couldn’t take good care of himself. It’s so unfortunate, but it’s another wake-up call for Hinata that tells him that good things take time to come. He can’t magically hone his skills overnight.

THE FINAL ARC

THIS IS IT. IT’S REALLY THE END. | Ah, the final arc. We are so close to the end of Haikyuu!! and it makes me so sad to think about it every time. The final arc is the last match of the game. It is no coincidence that it is the last time we see Hinata use the restroom before the game. It is also no coincidence that many things that happened during Hinata’s first game are happening as well - Hinata meets Kageyama again at the restroom, he breathes in the smell of icy-hot spray, and, of course, he is going against Kageyama. That’s just awesome. But… he is not only going against Kageyama, he’s also going against Ushijima Wakatoshi and Hoshiumi Korai. This is no mere coincidence. These three people are all Hinata’s rivals. He declared one way or another that he would beat each of them and become the greater person. Hinata told Kageyama that he would, one day, beat him in a game. Hinata told Ushijima that he would beat Shiratorizawa and move onto nationals. I don’t remember if Hinata ever told Hoshiumi if he would beat him in a game one day, but we know for a fact that Hoshiumi did, at least in his mind. Let’s not forget how Hoshiumi really thought, “I’ve waited years for this day, Hinata Shoyo!!” Before the final game.

TEAMMATES: PAST AND PRESENT | I also want to mention the “commentators” for this match as well as some of Hinata’s teammates. In every game that we read/watch in Haikyuu!!, there is at least one person outside of the game who commentates on their perspective of what is going on in the game. We are not only getting the action, but also the analysis. In the final match, we are getting the commentary from Hinata’s teammates. We are finally getting their perspective in the game and how they perceive everyone’s actions. I just thought that was really cool since they were Hinata’s teammates- we never got the chance to hear their opinions about the game as an outsider. We also have some of Hinata’s teammates, Bokuto Koutarou, Miya Atsumu, and Sakusa Kiyoomi. I specifically want to talk about Bokuto and Atsumu, since the only reason I believe Sakusa was placed in the MSBY Jackals was so we could see his own ability because we never got to see him play in high school. Besides the Little Giant, I don’t know if there was any other person that Hinata looked up to more than Bokuto. I think it was great for Furudate to place Bokuto on Hinata’s team because it’s sort of a teacher-student moment where the teacher has to play with his disciple. I also think Furudate made the smartest choice to place Miya on this team as well because it shows that Kageyama is not the only one to perform a quick attack with Hinata. Having Miya on this team provides two things- it becomes a “battle of the setters” between Miya and Kageyama, and we see that Hinata has grown to adapt to perform well with other setters. It’s great character development on Hinata’s part because we see that he has definitely moved past the “he’s no good without Kageyama” thing back in high school. Good for him!

RIVALRY | Anyways, with a little analysis on Hinata’s team, we move on to the opponents. The big three opponents are, of course, Kageyama, Ushijima, and Hoshiumi. It’s a really good thing that Furudate placed these three on a team together (Talking about Romero makes their team even more OP so we’re just gonna set him aside for right now, haha) because it’s a test of Hinata’s ability. We get to see the rematch of the century, since each of Hinata’s rivals have wished for a rematch against him. Hinata lost to Kageyama’s team back in middle school, so now we wonder if Hinata could beat Kageyama now. We know that Ushijima lost to Hinata, but since he declared that he would beat Hinata in the future, we also wonder if Hinata could win against him, this time without the help of his teammates back in Karasuno. Lastly, Hinata collapsed in the middle of the match against Kamomedai, so we do not know for sure if Hinata could have won against Hoshiumi. All of these questions that we have for these three rivals will be cleared in this match; we get to see if Hinata will win in the end. We will learn if Hinata has truly become stronger. This match will let Hinata examine his current self and if his skills now can finally win against Kageyama, Ushijima, and Hoshiumi. It’s sort of like the “final exam” for Hinata’s strength.

from a big family. elder sister called sinead. he also has a younger sister (aoife), a younger brother (colm), and a collie named lassie because his father lovs cliches (finn hates cliches but loves his dog). 

his father was a pub landlord and his mother worked at the market sellin fruit n veg when they met but got a job as a medical receptionist when she had kids cos it meant she cld be there with them in the day and work nights.

his parents met when they were p young and fiesty and rushed into marriage cos they were catholic n just wanted to have sex. his family were literally dirt-poor, but they had a lot of love i guess

hmmmmm his relationship w his father wasn’t the best cos i can’t write character who have healthy relationships w their parents throws up a peace sign. yh, had a pretty emotionally distant, alcoholic violent father n so gets a lot of his bad habits i.e. drinking as a coping mechanism and poor anger management from him BUT anyway

as a kid he was never very motivated in class, he always had a nervous itch to be off somewhere doing something else. struggled under government austerity bcso there just wasn’t the resources to support low income families where the kids had learning difficulties n needed support. fuck the tories am i right 

his mum suggested he try sports to help w his restless energy but he was never any good at football so he took up boxing and tap dance instead. he took to tap dancing like a fish to fuckin water. as adhd n found this as a really good way to use his excess energy in a creative way

had a few run ins with the police in his early teens for spray painting and graffiti, but he straightened himself out n now actually considering becoming a detective inspector??? cops are pigs.

he had a youtube channel where he posted videos of him tapdancing and breakdancing as a kid, basically would be a tiktok boy nowadays, n had like... a small fanbase in his early teens. attended several open auditions unsuccessfully, until he was finally cast in billy eliot when he was fifteen.

during billy eliot he began dating an italian dancer called nina. they became dance partners soon after and toured across the republic with various different shows (inc riverdance lol the classic irish stereotype). their relationship was p toxic tbh, they were both very hot tempered people and just used to argue and fight all the time.

he went semi-pro at tap dancing, and nina couldn’t stand being second best so she moved back to italy with her family. ignored his texts, phone calls, etc, eventually he was driven to the point where he used his savings to buy a plane ticket, showed up at her house and she was like wtf?? freaked out and filed a restraining order accusing him of stalking.

he was fined for harassment and then returned home to derry, but after the incident with nina he quit dancing for good and finished his leaving cert before heading to university in the US to get as far away from nina and his past life as poss. and basically since he quit dancing to study forensics (death kink. finn cant get enough of that morgue. just walks around sayin beat u) he’s become a massive grump and jsut doesn’t see the good in people any more.

u’ll find finn in an old man bar drinking whiskey bc he is in fact an old man at heart or sat on his roof smoking a joint, drawing wolves and lions and skeletons and shit, playing call of duty or getting blazed or at the corner of the room in a house party ignoring everyone and scrolling through twitter. is a massive e-boy. always up-to-date on memes and internet slang. has reddit as an app on his phone

after the incident with nina, finn lost the fight in his eyes. he became far more hostile, far less likely to retaliate with his own fists, and picked fights not for the thrill of feeling his own fists pummel another into a wall, but for the sensation of his own brittle bones cracking. he dropped his tap shoes in a dumpster, stopped talking to his friends, followed his father’s advice and went back to school to complete his leaving certificate. a few short months later, and finn was packing his bags, saying his bittersweet goodbyes, and travelling half-way across the globe to be as far away as possible from his past self, his mess of a life, and most of all nina. it seemed somehow ironic that the boy who had been cautioned by the garda so much during his youth for spray painting, busking without a liscence, and raucous parties would become the grumpy, aloof overseas student studying a degree in criminology; that his once reckless spirit could be crushed so easily. 

of all things that finn could be called, straightforward would never be one of them. ever since his first days in atticus, the boy was pegged as hostile, hot-headed, cynical, rude. he seemed to spend more time in his thoughts than engaging in conversation. like a ticking time-bomb, finn’s anger was of the calm kind, liable to explode without a moment’s noticed. his unpredictable personality make him something of an enigma to those who aren’t amiable with the lad, though hostile as he may appear, he harvests a good heart. loyalty lies at the centre of his affections, and whilst his friends are few in number, he makes a lifelong partner. somewhere within finn, there’s still some fight left, but mostly he has recognised that his hedonistic lifestyle did little to leave him fulfilled – mostly, it just emptied him out – and over his three years at university has resigned himself to a nihilistic predicament.

Can I rant about stan Twitter for a second?

I love the people I talk to on Twitter and the memes. But, I can’t do it.

It’s entirely too easy to be reactionary on Twitter. Just in general, it is. You see a dumb tweet, you can respond in under 300 characters. It’s not like Tumblr, which is already bad enough itself, where you have to write an essay and someone has to read the essay and formulate their own counter-essay. It’s takes too much time, and Tumblr hashtag search is broken anyway.

Twitter arguments, though, are easy. Something big gets released and everyone and their great-grandma has quick access to voicing their interpretations of it. Bad takes and wrong opinions are presented just concisely and digestably enough that people eat them up. And hashtags spread them like wildfire, even to the point that media outlets latch on. And by then, it’s hard to decipher what was true, what we actually know, because the real source got buried and the tweeted opinions are far easier to find. Get the Sparknotes on the event (or character) without having to look it up ourselves, not matter how wrong it may be.

Seeing even fandom-related Twitter movements has really made me understand how shitty politicians get elected and obviously terrible ideas get voted through.

Bad ideas get traction, crappy people get bolstered, and anxious people lose hope.

Those screaming their opinions aren’t always right. They’re just loud. But, (the collective) we see they have a verified account or thousands of followers or the tweet has hundreds, thousands of L/RTs and we give it credence. We accept that as either the truth and/or the thoughts of the masses.

I worked in social media marketing. Likes and retweets and comments can be bought. That’s common knowledge. But, we still accept them and base our opinions and anxieties around the thought of high interaction = fact. And that’s not true.

So on GoT stan Twitter, you have some yahoo saying “Khalessee is the evil mad queen and doesn’t care for people and loves burning everyone. #ForTheThrone” Now, our logical brains know that there is outstanding evidence to the contrary both in the books and in the not-always-correctly-written show. We know this character and know that’s not right. Yet, that person gets retweeted by people who already mindlessly hated Dany as confirmation bias, retweeted by a-holes at Vanity Fair or WinterIsComing.Net, spread through verified accounts and biased “news” outlets and suddenly that’s the fact. Suddenly, longtime fans of Daenerys are biting their nails, going back and watching through the eyes of that dumbass tweet. And worrying that maybe, just maybe, jimbob234 from Independence, Missouri was right about Dany all along when he tweeted that she was crazy.

It’s a form of madness that we’re all guilty of to some degree. But, we have got to start trusting our instincts again, more than a blue and white check mark or a viral tweet. Especially us, Jonerys. That was always the beauty of this fandom over others. That we spent all these years with nothing, poring through every text and subtext, lacing together the red thread that would eventually lead Jon and Dany together. And we were right, as we knew we’d be. Because, despite the Dr*gos, Y*rittes, Da*rios, etc., we trusted that we knew what the text and show laid out for us and went by that instead of listening to the fandom forums telling us otherwise. Don’t forget that in the last season.

If you’re concerned about Mad!Dany or a catastrophic end for Dany and/or Jonerys, let it be because you don’t trust the “good girl, bad pussy” writers. Or far better yet, because you see it coming for yourself with objective eyes.

But, for God’s Holy sake, don’t let it be because of something you read on Twitter.

Gen 8 Pokespe Dexholder Predictions (Headcanons)

Good day to you reader. [tips imaginary hat] This post should be shorter than my other Pokespe topics, because this is the conclusion of two long discussions on how elements of the manga are characterized. If you are bored enough to read my other posts of “What is your type?” and “Pokespe Gold, Silver, and Bronze?”, feel free to scroll through the “#pokespe” tag until you find it.

You don't need to do all that work though cause I have a little Sparknoted summary below (skip to astriks to avoid):

Grass type dexholder = character who has self-intrinsic motivation despite life pushing them down and the path to their goal doesn't hurt many people.

Fire type dexholder = character who tramples over anything or anyone in the way of their goal.

Water type dexholder = character who hides important information from other characters and is secretive.

Kanto-Hoenn dexholders = “Golden Age” equivalent of Pokespe; sets the standard (sometimes cliche) characterization of each protagonist type, and heroes and villains are clearly divided into the sides of good and evil.

Sinnoh-Unova dexholders = “Silver Age” equivalent of Pokespe; acts as a transitional period for the medium, widening the target audience, gives chances of redemption for villains, and creating a new hook (in this case that was the magic of friendship).

Kalos-Alola dexholders = “Bronze Age” equivalent of Pokespe; much darker themes and subject matter, protagonists are complex and flawed, and the villains have complicated motives that place them in a grey area.

If you read the huge title, you know what this post is about. This covers my predictions for the Gen 8 Pokespe protagonists and what their arc of the manga will be like.

Actually, this post was designed even before the release trailer for Galar dropped, so I was able to make some generic predictions without any knowledge of the region, character design, or starters.

Following the standard rotation pattern for which characters get the starters, the male playable character would get the water type starter, the female playable character would get the fire type starter, and if there was a third version, some rival character would get the grass type starter.

Plus, following the arc progression outlined above, Gen 8 would have the last group of protagonists placed in the Bronze Age section.

But...what does all that mean???

It's guaranteed that we're getting at least a pair of new dexholders: a water type male and a fire type female. This is actually the relationship we have the least information about out of all possible combinations (grass!male and water!female; fire!male and grass!female, and water!male and fire!female). Compared to the other pairs, there has only been one pairing in Pokespe to have as an example. That being Ruby and Sapphire in the RS arc. So, most of the predictions about the possible dynamic between our new heroes has to be extrapolated from the personalities. With the lack of a grass type, this relationship lacks the emotional stability behind the other two. Their interactions will be more emotionally charged and since no intrinsic self-motivation is present, the words thrown around can cut much deeper.

On top of this remains the Bronze Age elements that would cause these sets of protagonists to be one of the most complex and flawed in the manga to date; with morally grey antagonists and darker topics as a side dish.

Bringing all this information together, the SWSH arc of Pokespe has the potential to be one with high emotional drama between the main character and high situational drama with the complexity of the situation our dexholders are thrown into. And personally, a very complex arc with in-depth looks at the societal problems and character flaws is my cup of tea.

Yet, these doesn't even cover what we got from the reveal trailer. Thanks to the new information, we have the playable character (or future dexholder) designs, the region of Galar, which is based of (I forget if the correct term is the U.K or Great Britain), the names of Sword and Shield, and all three first-stage starter designs and names.

Thus, we can expand further. We know that the male playable character (Sword) will be getting Sobble—our crying chameleon, and the female playable character (Shield) is destined to have the soccer fanatic bunny of Scorbunny.

The rest of this expands into headcanons and fun ideas I have about the new dexholders that follows the evidence, but doesn't stem from it.

I have a very strong love for my idea for Shield in the manga. Everybody has been memeing the heck out of the female trainer design ever since it was released; transforming her into a rough-on-the-edges, cursing every 5 words, Scottish girl. And honestly, I really like that characterization of her and it would fit the fire type dexholder personality trait of pushing through anything or anyone that stands in the way of their goal.

Plus, Scorbunny also gave me extra inspiration. Because I remember distinctly thinking, “Gee, this cursing Scottish girl associated with bunnies reminds me of someone. I forget who?”

This character is Cammie MacCloud from the series Gen:Lock. While I never finished the first season, Cammie was instantly my favorite out of the group, and her personality of excessive sarcasm and cursing with not being afraid to speak her mind would translate well to Shield.

Also, aerial-ace mentioned either on tumblr or on twitter after the release date that it would be cool if one of the protagonists would be royalty and I think Shield being royalty would be cool. Rebelling against the stuffy life of the monarchy, she runs away from home to become a trainer and have the ability to be as brutally honest and un-royal as she wants.

As for Sword, his character is honestly harder for me to peg down. I would love if he matched Sobble as a bundle of nerves and anxiety, but it is really hard to have a secretive character because it requires enough social skills to, you know, keep the secret. What I imagine him as can only be best described like the attitude of early Wally when it comes to battles and Pokemon, a love for research as strong as Clemont, but the social manipulation skills of William Minerva from TPN (and if you are up to date with the manga, you understand exactly who that Minerva is).

Although, if you don't know all these characters, what I picture Sword to be is a boy who loves research—maybe helping the professor when he gets forced to do “field research” and is kicked out of the lab to go on a journey. He would be very adverse to battling and Pokemon, and show extreme inexperience. Yet, if he finds himself in battle, his strategic mind can come up with fool-proof plans; granted he is calm enough to think. Where he would really shine is when he is interacting with people and it is like someone suddenly flipped a switch, and he can talk them into corners with manipulation skills for a darker twist.

The character arcs of my versions of Sword and Shield would be them becoming closer to their namesake. Shield would need to learn to accept responsibility and act more rationally, growing into a great defender for the Galar region. Sword on the other hand would gain confidence in battling and dealing with Pokemon; learning how to take the offensive against evil on a physical battlefield, and not just a mental one.

The reason I gave Sword this darker side is not only because it allows him to be more secretive and casts him into a grey light; but if Shield escaped her noble family because she hated how they could spit out lies to spin people into circles, witnessing Sword do something similar would send her into a fit.

That is all my ideas for both Sword and Shield as Pokespe dexholders in a nutshell. Of course, we don't know what the game story is and since Pokespe nearly directly follows the game canon, it will have a lot of weight on how both their characters can develop. These are just some fun ideas I wanted to write down before I forgot them.

And look at that. This was a very long post.

Scott Disick Doesn’t Have A Wikipedia Page So We Wrote Him One Betches

Okay, so it’s been brought to my attention that for some godforsaken reason, Scott Disick doesn’t have a Wikipedia page. Even Rob Kardashian has one, and he’s best known for…um, selling socks. How can one of the best characters on KUWTK and the most salacious riotmaker of the tabloids not have a Wikipedia page? Since Wikipedia helped us graduate high school (and, let’s be honest, college), we decided to do them a solid and make a page for Scott. Check out the SparkNotes version of Scott Disick’s life (with some opinions thrown in, obvi).

Childhood

Scott Disick was born to a wealthy family in the Hamptons. He was an only child, which is pretty obvious based on the fact that he’s bratty and selfish. Scott attended a ritzy private school called The Ross School, which boasts other famous alumni like Alexa Ray Joel and Tessa Grafin von Walderdorff. And before you say, “who”?? Alexa’s dad is Billy Joel, Tessa’s husband is Barron Hilton, and Scott swindled his way into the Kardashians. So pretty much they get trained there to piggyback off of famous people in order to become famous.

Scott had his ups and downs in his adolescence. It’s actually not known whether or not he really graduated high school. He modeled for a young adult series about horses, and I can’t tell whether that’s an up or a down. He also was nicknamed “Number One Scum” and “S.T.D.” which just so happen to be his initials. He actually found those nicknames funny because they underscored what a party animal he was, and how he was such a player in high school. Scott also got arrested for a DUI under the age of 18, which is a huge foreshadowing of what was to come in his future.

Okay, I don’t even know what this means. I’m pretty sure it’s a career you have if you’re trying to make it seem like you do a lot of things when in actuality, you do nothing. There was an episode where Kourtney said she doesn’t even know what it means, largely because he was so evasive about it. His evasiveness means that a) he doesn’t know what it means either or b) he’s involved in something sketchy like underground poker games or a drug cartel. With friends like Joe Francis, you never know what this guy will get himself into.

Reality Star

Let’s not act like Kourtney was involved with Scott for so long because she was in love with him. I mean, he got caught cheating on her multiple times, he obviously had a substance problem that he barely attempted to get help for, and she was pretty open that she found everything about him annoying. TBH, I’m pretty sure she was only with him because they make adorable babies and he’s probably the most interesting character on the show, so they needed a way to keep him tethered to the franchise.

Recently, Scott was given a new reality gig, a show called Flip It Like Disick about flipping houses. It’s an eight-episode, hour-long series where Scott and a team of designers, contractors, and other people who actually know sh*t about real estate will renovate luxury homes. Tbh, the only thing Scott Disick is an expert in flipping is Kourtney’s world upside down, but sure.

Almost An Actor

Remember American Psycho? Of course you do, because every finance f*ckboy has a quote from the movie as his dating app bio or he makes you watch it on a cozy night in. After all, what says romance more than Christian Bale slaughtering Jared Leto while blasting Huey Lewis and the News? Anyway, the writer of American Psycho announced on Twitter that the way he would ever do a remake is if Scott Disick or Miles Fisher played Patrick Bateman. No, seriously.

So, Bret never ended up making the remake, yet he was willing to make “The Canyons,” which starred Lindsay Lohan. So Kanye West took it upon himself to do a remake of “American Psycho” starring Scott Disick and—get this—Jonathan Cheban. My dream come true.

Restaurateur

Remember when Kourtney and Kim took New York the first time around? You probably don’t, because that season wasn’t too memorable. You also probably don’t remember Scott’s restaurant, RYU, because it was doomed from the get-go and only lasted 191 days. Kourtney didn’t even believe the restaurant would even open. But hey, that’s more than 2.5 times longer than Kim’s marriage to Kris Humphries, so at least Scott accomplished something.

Royalty

While the fam was in London, Scott had nothing to do because he basically does nothing for a living. He decided to become a Lord because anyone—even citizens of other countries—can be awarded this title. One of my majors in college was History with a concentration in Modern European History, and one thing we learned is that the try-hard social climbers that were so desperate to hang out with the elite would buy these “lord” titles to make themselves seem like they were members of high society. Scott leeches off the royal family of America and posts pictures of himself with overly priced watches and on private jets, so that sounds about right.

Designer

Scott started a clothing line, appropriately named “Talentless.” Way to be self-aware for once, Scott! It donates 3% of the proceeds to a charity called “Fuck Cancer!” which is really sweet. The brand’s mission statement is: “‘Talentless’ is an homage to the new wave of creators, innovators, and influencers who’ve made a name for themselves by going against the conventions of what it means to be ‘talented.’” Okay, cool, that sounds super deep and inspiring or whatever, but how is selling plain old T-shirts with nothing on them for $42 an homage to creative people? This isn’t some Derelict-level sh*t like most of Kanye’s fashion shows are. But still, you’re thinking way too highly of yourself here, Scott.

Influencer

Scott will throw up Instagrams about FitTea, cell phone cases, and asking his followers to follow Lala Kent’s fiancé. Yet he barely posts pics with his girlfriend of two years. He also does appearances at clubs like 1OAK, which is where that bratty, try-hard girl from high school wears a leopard print outfit and takes tons of bathroom mirror pics to prove that she is better than you. But you know what? All of these jobs are probably less pathetic than Kourtney’s CV. At least Scott tried(ish)!

Kourtney and Scott met at the mansion of Joe Francis, best known as the creator of Girls Gone Wild. That in and of itself was a sign that their relationship would not work. First off, I would not wanna use the same toilet as Joe freakin’ Francis, much less do body shots with him and his friends. Anyway, a year later, these two fell in love. Her entire family hated him at first. But soon, Kris, Kim, Rob, and Khloé fell in love with him too.

Sofia Richie

Sofia Richie is best known for being Nicole Richie’s little sister, modeling (although I can’t think of a single brand she’s modeled for), and now, dating Scott Disick. But is their relationship serious? I’m not sure *grabs tinfoil hat*, and here’s why. Before Scott and Kourtney broke up for the final time, Sofia was dating Justin Bieber. Also, Kourtney Kardashian and Nicole Richie have been friends since childhood. Kourtney’s rebound after she broke up with Scott was Justin Bieber. So Scott came up with a conniving plan to hook up with Kourtney’s friend since childhood and Justin’s ex-girlfriend. Oh, and did I mention Sofia used to be besties with Younes Bendjima before he started dating Kourtney? That’s honestly the most brilliant clapback ever—it’s almost Shakespearean. Is Scott is totally in love with Sofia, or is this the most convoluted plan to make Kourtney jealous? I’ll let you decide.

Hookups

Scott pretty much cheated on Kourtney all. The. Time. But the final straw was Chloe Bartoli. They were in the same group on vacation and she just so happens to be his ex-girlfriend, so inevitably they got handsy. 10 seconds in and I’m dead, I’m literally dead… you’ve outdone yourself, the expanse. Outdone yourself, indeed.

Wait, no. that was supposed to be happy. How did that go so wrong so quickly! Can we talk about Terry’s eyes though? How do those eyes convey so much fucking emotion so quickly? That’s it, I’m sucker punching anyone who questions this casting.

Man, I live for Naomi putting herself between everyone and the Belters. And the look in her face, the conflict of being torn in two because you’ve got a foot in both doors. How do you pick a side? Everything that is happening with the Belters, is happening with Naomi, too. This is Naomi’s conflict. Of course she’s invested in what’s happening and is listening to the Belters. Just because we met her on the Cant doesn’t change the fact that she is a Belter – born and raised. Separating yourself from your roots doesn’t automatically cut off emotional connections you have. Especially when you’re back in the thick of things. Naomi’s reactions are authentic and the way Dom shows her internal conflict on her face, holy shit. This is tearing her apart.

I literally think I’m going to need to re-watch this episode because I’m hyperventilating about Prax to the point that I can’t pay attention to anything else. His concern for Mei is going to break my fucking heart. Holden lied, too! I know it’s not how this works, but there, they’re even.

Is Prax going to have to watch his friend die on top of everything else he’s been through? My life has literally prepped me for everyone dying. Oh, and and yep. There it is. Of course that happened. Of fucking course.

God damn, that’s fucking gruesome. Like, there aren’t many good ways to die, but that certainly ain’t one of them. Jesus. The growing tension between various belter factions and belters vs. inners is incredible. All these delicate threads holding people together are snapping and it seems like one wrong look from someone is going to make everything explode. And our fam is caught in the middle and sinking deeper with every decision they make –whether they mean to or not. And the best part is, it’s not black and white. No one is being framed as the bad guy. Just desperate people trying to make sense of their fears. And even those lines are blurred. Drummer and Dawes? Naomi and the Belters. Fred and Holden. The lines between fractions aren’t clear points in the ground and it makes everything feel so, so real.

Holden jumping to go to Ganymede, not knowing what he’s going to find there. Not knowing the emotional strain that’s going to hit him.

This! This is the Holden I want to see. Holden cares so damn much and the transition between Holden and Captain Holden aren’t translating on screen too well. I want soft Holden, Holden who acts because no one else will, and even if he makes the wrong decision, it’s because he tried to do something good – not because he’s this angry dude with his chest popped out. He just wants to help and keep the people around him safe. That’s who Naomi sees, that’s who she loves, and that’s who we deserve.

AHHHHHH. Alex and Prax. ALEX AND PRAX – THIS IS NOT A DRILL. Alright, I live for this shit. Tiny, insignificant moments between two people who are going to be working together/friends later. You think either one of them is going to remember that? Probably not, but we will, or I will, and it’s going to get me through the work day.

Drummer. How amazing is she? How great is that scene? Years of bullshit prepped me for her needless death, so the fact that she not only killed the two dudes who did that to her, but walked her own damn self to the medical unit is literally going to keep my plants watered for the rest of the year. It’s terrifying putting more and more trust into the team behind the Expanse, but they’re getting it, aren’t they? From owning up to killing LGBT+ characters on twitter, to giving Drummer agency, to allowing her to be this amazing character. I’m still scared, I’m waiting for the ball to drop, but man, I’m so happy.

Holy shit…holy shit…Amos —-and alex and amos. There’s so much to say, too much for this particular post, so I’ll sparknotes it. First off, Wes is killing it. Absolutely killing it. Just call him Mr. Hollow eyes because he seems so disassociated in this episode. I can’t find my remote, or I would rewind that bit a million times. Was Amos pleading with Alex not to push him? And ugh. “because then who would fly the plane?” C’mon. Tell me that doesn’t hit you in the center of your chest? The certainty of what Amos will do. And what it means to Alex, who literally is just trying to figure this dude out, and by figuring Amos out, maybe he's figuring himself out and his role on the ship (?) to get threatened, holy hell. Yeah, much more needed to be written about.

Okay, I’m happy the show is acknowledging that the Holden we’ve seen isn’t Holden. I wish we got to see more of that Holden instead of just brief glimpses, because it would make the audience better able to relate to Holden. Holden doesn’t want to be this dude. He hates this dude. He’s spent his entire life avoiding situations where he had to people around people like the person he’s become. And the shitty thing is, he doesn’t know how to stop being this person now that he’s had to assume the role. And it wasn’t even something he wanted to do. He became this person out of necessity, remained this person because it meant that Naomi, Amos, and Alex had the best chance of staying alive. Can you imagine the toll that must take on someone? And the fear of thinking that maybe you can’t come back to yourself because of all the things you’ve done out of your comfort level? But then there’s Naomi. And even though she’s angry and doesn’t agree with everything Holden had to say, she’s there for him. His beacon in the storm he’s found himself in and he’s going to find her. He’s going to find himself on his way to her. And that’s so freaking beautiful.

Okay, so I’m trying to distance myself from the books when I watch, and I think I’m doing a fairly good job, but this conversation between Fred and Holden isn’t sitting too well with me. Without the time that has passed in the books, and Holden actually working for Fred, Fred’s motives seem off? Anyone care to share their opinions about this scene? Fred is ambitious, sure, and some of his control slipped with Dawes sending the video, but this play for power against Holden doesn’t seem fitting. I wish I could find my remote to re-watch the scene. Need to pay closer attention during the next go around.

Hm, so Prax works for Strickland? I’m going to mull that over.
