I am planning on revamping Crescents colors a bit, basically adding counter shading and meaning to the color.
Crescents sort of breathe through their skin a bit, in order to absorb ions from the atmosphere. Their skin color then reflects that ion intake and also their general race (which is usually dependent on their biome, like purple for forests). But 2-3 is weird, he grew up in a space station and was exposed to lots of radiation. So he is a weird green color. He also glows in the dark a little bit… hehe. It doesn’t hurt him at all ofc. Just like dying your hair. If 2-3 went to live on his moon for a few years, his skin would become slightly more muted.
The “average crescent” palette is what I just call “skin colored”. Crescents have blue blood, so any blue on the crescent is just parts of their blood spotting through. So it’s akin to normal humans being more reddish. The pink is a highly pigmented area, as most feelers and holes are. Some crescents holes become dull with age, so many like to use makeup to recolor it. Sometimes even crazy patterns!
Conceptual art of a Mountain Grazer || The Mountain Grazers raise cattle (see cow sketches below the cut), herding them from grassy mountainside to grassy mountainside by season. Sometimes they have to climb to get vantage points, clear pathways (the cows are not as graceful), and rescue calves that have been separated. They’re so strong that most of them can pull off feats like the one shown here: scaling an over-sheer cliff side with a calf dangling from one foot. Incredibly hearty and athletic, these fellas are the most no-nonsense of the Grazer species.
Finally getting around to redoing the nioqim references, starting with the Draquens. Theyre kinda racist, kinda sexist, pretend theyre atheist but act more bigoted than hyper-religious folk, and also, theyre practically everywhere. If you have land, a draquen queendom is looking at it too. Of course, these sentiments only belong to the western population. The eastern population, which has extensively mixed heritage, are just about as foreign to the Tirigaʒari as a Fisher would be.
People have talked about inverting the "monstrous males, hot females" trope by making the species's males "pretty" in a lithe, boyish way and making the females into hulking beasts.
But if you absolutely must make the males bigger, in that case I'm partial to making them burly chads while the females are little feral gremlins.
After 10 thousand years of living as all kinds of different creatures, a Fluffree will grow into their final form: Thistleleon, a massive dragon full of wisdom from hundreds of lifetimes, they will travel to the highest peaks of the planet where other Thistleleon settle, sharing their life experiences with others to learn even more about life. They hoard stories, as well as the DNA of all the creatures they turned into, which they can place in the next generation of Fluffrees if need be; this and the fact they are immortal, makes them perfect safekeepers of biodiversity, if a catastrophe occurs & many species go extinct, they can bring them back by releasing Fluffrees into the wind!
when i was younger i liked to imagine there were weird little dino-esque creatures that lived in junkyards and ate trash.. so i tried to design them today :]
Tamandua are small insectivores, descended from the same general clade as drakes. Their forelimbs are reduced to a single large claw on each arm, which the young use to grip onto the parent's back. Adults use them to dig into the nests of insects and other small animals, along with their mandibles. Tamandua have their mandibles covered in a buccal mass, and these "lips" allow them to create a suction to siphon out prey.
Adults have bristling tails of iridescent patterns for attracting mates and stunning predators. When threatened they will rear up and raise their tails and shake them. With the motion, the patterns of the tail help to confuse predators.
