One of my friends while we talking about spiderman: ATSV said "of course they make one of the black guys punk 😒" (she's not black btw) so I asked wtf she meant and she said "they always stereotype black people with the "darker/edgy aesthetic" HUH? Black people literally created the punk scene?? Also black people are part of the alt scene and seeing black alt rep on screen is probably amazing to see. Also, ONE OF THE GUYS WHO MADE SPIDER PUNK IS BLACK???? 😭

Hot take. Tobey Maguire is the best movie Spider-Man, because of his villains and the changes to his character. He's not remotely close to comic accurate, but I like him because he's his own thing. Whereas most Spider-Man interpretations try to frame him as a goofball heroic type, or an awkward kid that means well, Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man is outlined by mistakes, selfishness, and the consequences of his own actions. Almost every villain he fights dies in the end, and he couldn't save them. His uncle died because he turned a blind eye. Almost everyone close to him either dies, or learns to hate him. In fact, for most of it, the city hates him. He's alone in this fight, and he's going to make mistakes. That's the point. He wasn't born a hero. He has to learn.

Imagine that in Spider-Man: no way home, that you are the fourth Spider-Man but the thing about your universe is that your Peter Parker is dead and you got bitten instead of him, the only reason you fell through the portal is because you were looking for his grave. Your Peter parker is based on Andrew!Spiderman and the other Spider-Man’s don’t have a y/n in their universe which is sad because you’re Y/n Parker Peter’s sibling but they feel so close to you.

This is sad but its genius imagine having three older brothers and they’re all so awkward and protective. (I don’t have any older siblings and honestly I would love to have an older brother)

Spider-Man had the absolute biggest impact on my life. In many ways, I relate a lot to Peter Parker. I've been bullied, never had a lot of friends, and had money issues as well. I was diagnosed with Autism when I was four and had trouble making friends. Half the time, I was alone. When he's not dropping quips and stopping criminals as Spider-Man, he has everyday problems as Peter Parker just like every one of us. When I saw the 2002 Spider-Man movie for the first time on VHS, my life changed forever. Spider-Man and his many adventures from stopping big baddies like Green Goblin and Dr. Octopus to making a child's day by visiting him in the hospital to witnessing him go through the things I went through at the time really helped me cope with my loneliness. Everyday, Spider-Man puts his life on the line to protect people and he's been through alot of harsh moments from losing his Uncle Ben and the love of his life, Gwen Stacy to being near homeless because of money issues to being mentally tortured by Green Goblin but no matter what gets in his path, he never gives up. Spider-Man, twenty years later, not only remains my favorite superhero but my favorite fictional character PERIOD. Thank you to Stan Lee and Steve Ditko for 60 years of this amazing existence of an amazing character and to create a character that we can all relate to 🖤
