Grimm the Dwarf

Grimm is a Dwarf who uses he/him pronouns. He is 485 years old, which is around 34 years old if he were a human.

Appearance: He has long red hair and a long red beard, which is very full. His eyes are grey and his build is short and stocky. He likes to wear muted colors, like grey, black or brown, that have brighter colored thread weaved into them. These threads are typically blue, red or gold. He wears long tunics with heavy duty trousers and steel toed boots. He is often seen wearing full steel plate armor, sans the helmet because it is used for official business or religious celebrations. Personality: Grimm is a very fun guy to be around, hard working and always having a project to complete. He is very creative with his hands, and enjoys woodworking, metalwork, and the occasional project that works with stained glass, though he hasn’t ever blown his own glass. He dislikes bad craftsmanship and the sound of someone chewing with their mouth open. Grimm enjoys eating crunchy pretzels, kettle corn and toffee, listening to 80’s pop (Tom Petty), and drinking coffee (plain black, no sweetener). His favorite foods include fresh baked wheat bread, often rye or barley, with butter, and soft pretzels. His favorite flowers are Pink Anthuriums and Star of the Republic Roses. Daily Life: Grimm is very religious and spends a large part of his day working on commissions. His culture worships the god of the forge and the mountains. He is currently working on a stained glass mobile for a friend of his who is going to have a baby. His morning and evening are spent going to small religious services or doing devotions. He works on his commissions in the mornings until lunch and then goes to visit friends or to run errands he may need to do. Before dinner but after he returns home, he will work on any personal projects he has going on. After working for a few hours, he’ll eat dinner, do his devotions and then go to sleep to do everything all over again. Family: Grimm grew up in a rather large family, two parents, and five siblings; two brothers, two sisters, and one genderless sibling. His family grew up in poverty and didn’t have very much money. It affected his life choices growing up and shaped him into the person he is today. He still visits his family on a semi-regular basis, but does not currently live with his family. Companionship: Grimm joined companionship because he was curious about it and the opportunity presented itself. He is hopeful that he will find a companion who is creative, who works or studies in a manual field doing something with their hands, like gardening or carpentry. He also admires someone who is not afraid to get their hands dirty. He would also prefer a companion who is not a complete beginner to spirit work, who can communicate with him reliably. That being said, Grimm is also willing to put in the effort to make the relationship work if your communication skills are still spotty here and there. I am making a pact with a demon this weekend, after trying to communicate with him I've seen a very bright orb whoosh by me in my room 2 times. I sought him out myself and I'm excited to build a trusting relationship with this demon. Usually I try and see who wants to reach out to me, but I've decided to turn the tables this time and do what I want.

On that note, I've been listening to an audio book at work that I think some of you would enjoy. Especially if you're new to spirit keeping.

Consorting with spirits by Jason Miller. He has a lot of helpful information in here and gave me a different view point of things. I recommend it! I'm sure Amazon has printed copies if audio books aren't your thing. I like to listen to books to make time fly by at work, and if I'm doing that then I might as well learn something 😆

Read your post about spirit keeping. Thank you!!! Someone has got to say it! Buying spirits is unethical!

Buying a person/entity/spirit/any sentient pragmatically never sounds right no matter how someone tries to spin it.

I mean, the whole idea is supposedly trapping/binding someone to an object and selling them for some stranger to take interest and buy them -- leaving it up to the imagination of how bad or good it can go.

I find the whole concept sad when I also see a scenario when an up and coming "spirit keeper" say, "My demon/angel/jinn came in the mail today!" I find the whole concept just depressing if a spirit is sold to play the role as your friend/parent figure/lover, etc. I find it also creepy when someone sells a presumed spirit for wealth, power, and sex -- and it attracts a certain individual to that "product."

It can also be a parasite who sells this idea to an unsuspecting conjuror and it ends up in someone's life doing heaven knows what.

...

...Or, they're talking to no one and it's all a scam.

NOW, the only thing I can agree with is helping someone introduce themselves, and helping on discerning a spirit/entity that stepped forward upon request for a companion to work with...then seeing where it goes with healthy boundaries and solid house rules.

I like to tell people: spirit work is like meetup.com -- not Ebay. (Which ironically is where a lot of them do that kind of stuff too)

I would highly suggest you look into my other posts about my thoughts about spirit keeping covering more on this.

Take it with a grain of salt. ----- That is NOT what binding is. It is not simply giving someone your phone number, as it was lightly put. Binding is the practice of tethering someone's energy to an item in ties with that person or to the person directly themselves. It is King Solomon style of "connecting" with spirits. Binding can also a very intimate action that requires one-on-one consent with time and lots of effort. It's like a marriage if you want to see it that way.

I do understand that there are a few hearted conjurors who may have utilized this method to do the job of using money for the vetting process, but it is never necessary to bind a spirit to a stranger or to an item, and expect/demand complacency and a bond because you spent good money for it.

The classic spirit keeping scenario still paints as an example of someone snatching a bird from its habitat and putting it in a cage and "finding it a good home for someone."

I think of the scene of Finding Nemo where the human abducted Nemo and claimed he "saved him," and tried to give the fish away to an irresponsible owner.

I personally never seen a seller discern the person's energy whom they're giving the spirit to either. They just take the money and give it to then without a thought, and I've seen so many cases of people abusing the spirit/entity, or the person's life crumble down due to the spirit/entity enacting revenge. I always encourage people to please not bind a spirit to anything or anyone, because that's not what binding is. ... I recommend these as good starting points if you're interested, and these are just few examples. -Make offerings, but make sure you aren't being pushed to always give something and not have anything in return. -Go outside your house and see your local spirits. One or two might want to connect with you and be attracted to your energy and personality. -Ask for god(s) or a powerful entity/spirit for protection as you ask for a spirit/entity to step through and seek companionship on their own will. (You can repeat this process with different spirits that you feel that's coming through, you don't have to settle with the first spirit/entity but make sure you thank them for coming after a few moments of introduction. I recommend meditating first. --- If these sound underwhelming or less grandiose to you, then maybe reconsider and reevaluate what you really want in the connection. NOW, if a spirit wants to bind with you off the bat, exercise caution -- that'll be for your safety. Some are strong enough to wield power over your energy. ... Another thing is "matching." I hardly find that true -- so why are they still advertising the spirit on what you're getting. You want a "vampire lord?" You can just search it up on the search box and find your "best match." You want a faerie because you personally love and are hyper fixated on faeries? Filter the search box again and "find your best match." Maybe you can say you feel pinged to their energy and all that, but please, exercise pragmatic approaches too. If I see a seller who sells the service of you filling out an application and taking the time to find the right companion for you instead and see whoever comes out? I might say that's much better, but it takes a lot of vetting on your part to discern what the conjuror picks for you too and hoping it's not going to be a toxic relationship. There's also always that mentioned emphasis on what is safe for the person in question who owns a spirit, but never the context of the spirit who's also needs safety in connection with certain people. We can wield as much harm to some of these spirits/entities as they can harm us. Keep that in mind.

In Support of Spirit Matchmaking Services 👻

A year or two ago, I wrote up and published a pretty nasty, scathing post about my thoughts on spirit conjure shops. I think I outright called most of them scams, honestly. This came from a very biased, emotionally driven point of view. I had gone through a bad experience with a conjuror (who will remain unnamed) and wound up using that as a reason to find every single negative aspect about conjure shops and spirit matchmaking services.

Since then, I have grown further as a spirit worker, removed myself from a few social circles, and met several great spirits through the help of a conjuror who runs and curates their own business.

I think its important to be able to acknowledge when my opinions on something so broad come from a place of bias, so, I’m going to share my new thoughts here.

One of my biggest arguments against conjurors who sell spirits, was that it was unethical to put up a living entity for sale.

Where it stands, I still agree with this. If you have FORCE BOUND A SPIRIT to some ring, necklace, or whatever, and you are putting them up for sale without their input? Yeah. That is fucked and you should feel bad. However, after a few conversations, I’ve learned that this point is how you vet an ethical spirit conjuror, versus an unethical one.

A proper spirit conjuror makes a point that their potential clients understand one thing: the spirits that they conjuror have free will, are capable of exiting any relationship that they are not happy or comfortable in, and are not bound to a contract that they have not agreed with.

These conjurors are not selling the spirit; they are putting a dollar amount on their time spent conjuring, vetting, purchasing offerings for the spirit, maintaining a website, maintaining communication with the spirit’s potential human companion, and so on so forth.

The best comparison I could make to this, is paying for a dating app. When we sign up for a website like eHarmony, Bumble, OkCupid, etc., people are being paid in the background to maintain those websites, and in turn, some of us are paying for the premium membership to make it easier to find potential match ups.

That does not mean the people working for eHarmony and all of these other websites are selling living beings. They are being paid to facilitate that potential match.

As a conjuror myself, I know the amount of work it goes into seeking out a spirit, vetting them for safety, and bonding with them. That does not even factor in the money spent on offerings.

Now what happens when a conjuror wants to help facilitate a connection with someone who does not have the time, energy, or interest in perfecting this work? Do they not have the right to charge a fee for the time and energy spent to help make this connection?

A conjuror has every right to charge for their services, just as a tarot reader should ask to be paid for their readings, an energy work charging for their healing sessions, and so on so forth.

So what type of fee should someone expect to pay someone to conjure, vet and connect them with a spirit companion?

Honestly? It is up to you to decide what you’re willing to pay. But, take a few things into consideration:

Let’s say that you ask your conjuror to connect you with a dragon spirit. But not just any dragon spirit, you want this spirit to be light aligned, with knowledge on the healing arts, and you want this dragon to be female with a calm temperament.

Factor in the amount of time it may take for this conjuror to find this exact spirits. They may come across a dozen or so dragons, but, these dragons might not fit what you are asking for.

And when they finally come across a potential fit, a proper conjuror would give a run down on what they have learned of the spirit thus far, ask if you are interested in it, and THEN they proceed with weeks or months of vetting.

Now, let’s say that your conjuror vets for a minimum of three months, and they are working with your spirit for about an hour a day, four days a week.

That is 48 hours of work. If you were to pay the USA’s federal minimum wage of $7.25 at that rate, that is $348.

I rarely see spirit conjure shops charging anywhere NEAR that much.

Actually, I think the most I ever spent on a conjure was $120.

That means your conjuror is paying themselves less than minimum wage most of the time.

My point then?

I’ve learned to respect people who do this for a living, or even as a side job. It’s hard work, and I’ve seen several people who are helping WAY more than one person at a time with their matchmaking.

Does that mean that ALL conjure shops are legitimate, avoiding cultural appropriation, and ethical? Of course not, but that is another post for another day. (And frankly, the shops full of red flags are largely not on Tumblr.)

There ARE legitimate spirit matchmaking businesses out there though! And if you have the opportunity to give them a try, you might find yourself surprised by how great of an experience you have.

There is nothing wrong with spirit shops if you look at what it's MEANT for. It is MEANT to give spirits a home. It's MEANT to give companionship for both person and spirit. Guess what? It takes a lot of effort to conjure and vet a spirit before the spirit is ready to be sent a home. I would think that's enough where it is reasonable to charge someone for that effort. But I see your point. There are a lot of scams out there and I'm not here to say you are wrong about that. But don't invalidate other peoples experriences with buying companions. Everyone is different. Blessed be!

Hello anon. I have to disagree. Not everything is "valid." I still don't believe it's "valid" to bind and market off these spirits/entities and sell them to people in general. From what I personally seen, a lot of spirits find their homes naturally in the flow of energy all around us and towards the beyond -- but that is as far as my observation can go. I wouldn't think home is being sold off to a stranger and hoping for the best. Almost every spirit shop is either a scam preying and appealing to other's greed, loneliness, ego, etc..Or it's a conjuror who's just messed up in the head trying to actually imprison certain spirits (or create servitors) and sell them off as "loving" or "powerful" beings for a quick buck. If a spirit/entity actually desires to be put in an object and being sold off to an unsuspecting person, that's a red flag for me from the spirit/entity. I don't agree with people buying or selling spirits/entities, but I don't believe every single person into this sort of thing is a bad person intentionally. I nearly fell into this starting out before. I find them moreso misguided; under the false impression that this is normal for both parties and not considering the pragmatism that it's still selling people. There are some spirited (or "real") conjurors out there who do believe they are helping spirits finding homes, and some do only the charging for the vetting process... but you have to be very careful. You can't be naive either. ... Look at Creepy Hollows or 99% of any Ebay or Etsy spirit keeping seller for example. I don't agree at all with what they're doing, and some don't even try on advertising themselves as reputable conjurors. You see this pixelated image from Google of this supposed entity or you see this stolen artwork from Deviantart. Next, you're going to see a description of this spirit/entity and it promises wealth, good revenge magic, or even sex. Some even claim they can conjure a spirit of your desires based on you choosing their gender, their sexual orientation, the type of spirit, how you want to be bonded or what item you can choose for it to be binded to, and even how close you want the bond to be between you two. Sounds bad already? Let's do it with humans now. (Take me out of context out of your own stupidity, this is just an example) Let's say I'm in the market for a human companion. I want the perfect companion to be a man. I want them pansexual. I want them to be Indonesian or something. I want them to be my lover and our bond to be level 5 with extra $20 thrown in for the best bond level, or including them shipped to me inside a stone of my choosing. My friend, that is called human trafficking. So, guess what. A lot of it is also spirit trafficking. But thankfully, a lot of it is just bunk and scams. I rarely seen an item that contains an entity that isn't a servitor, or just an energy accumulation instead. As for people actually having a spirit/entity from it... I am sadden to say that it doesn't end well a lot of times from what I've seen. There's a lot of trauma involved, anguish, toxic idealism, escapism over grounded actions, deterioration, lots of miscommunication too...and worse.... .... Back to the point -- In reality, you don't get to pick your friend's gender, sexual preference, etc. They come to you as they are because you get along with their personality and just their company as a person. You can't just force a "loving" relationship off the bat either. Love itself needs to be treated with respect and integrity, and it's the journey getting to know that love is what makes it so coveted.

... Besides, wouldn't it make more sense if the spirit/entity wants to just approach you themselves instead if they WANT a bond with you? Or at least have you take it out for dinner first? That's just what my first impressions are when it comes to meeting and growing a bond with a spirit/entity: good introductions, integrity of house rules, and making memories. Treat them with integrity and respect as you would want for yourself. Ask them what they're comfortable with too, and respect their space or their preferences too. True, every situation is different. But in most circumstances, it's hardly acceptable to traffick spirits.

Jet the Black Cat Shifter {Mandrake}

Personality: Jet is not an easy person to summarize but his most prominent personality traits are that he’s introspective, independent and thoughtful. While his exterior is a bit hard, deep down he’s a sensitive soul seeking kindred spirits who he feels comfortable showing that side of himself to. He can be standoffish at first and it takes time to gain his full trust but he’s never rude or cruel in the distance he keeps between himself and others. He’s independent so he doesn’t need a lot of one on one time, however once he’s grown close to someone, he deeply values the time they spend together.

Physical description: Jet is a shifter who can take either a humanoid form or the form of black cat. In his humanoid shape he is tall with pale skin and slightly pointed ears. His canine teeth are also slightly pointed and he has shaggy black hair tied back in a ponytail and blue eyes. While he could hide them, it is most comfortable for his kind to retain their ears and tails in their human forms. He generally dresses himself in a sort of punk style with lots of metal studs and distressed denim. In his cat form he is a large slender black cat with a short silky coat and striking blue eyes. He is the equivalent of being 23.

Companion requirements: Jet is looking for someone who shares his love of literature, poetry and music and who doesn’t mind spending late nights or early mornings discussing the arts and views on life and really anything else. He isn’t looking to move into an astral space with his new companion right away but is open to that down the road. He not interested in a romantic partnership at this time.

Background info: Jet had a difficult life before coming to Mod Mandrake’s sanctuary and has endured more than his share of cruelty and hardship. However through a lot of hard work he has made a lot of progress on his mental health and general wellness. He still attends regular therapy sessions to keep his progress going and works at a bookstore that has it’s own coffee shop.

Jet has no strong preference for a vessel.
