#spn reboot are you hiring

I keep reading you about co-dependency and Jensen wanting to prove himself to Jared. That Jensen really wants to do the reboot with Jared. To me you sound like a typical Jared fan who doesn't want to see that Jensen has had enough of Jared. Fact is Jensen turned down a role in Walker, fact is Jensen didn't want Jared on TW. It is also a fact that Jensen is planning a new project with Misha. Fact is that Jensen went with Danneel to Cross Roads and now with Misha to Purgatory in Germany. Once Jensen gets away from his contractual obligations, be it SPN or creation, he would rather be with anyone than Jared.
Moi a "typical Jared fan"?  How?  If I was a Jared fan wouldn't I be talking about Jared on my own volition instead of waiting for Anons to mention him?
I suppose I should be flattered being called a Jared fan because in the SPN fandom they are by far the most sane and chill group of fans. They only bring out their murder mittens and Freddy Kruger hands on special occasions and when that happens, people are shocked and shook because they failed to see it coming, every time.
Where is your proof and receipt that Jensen is planning a new project with Misha?  Remember, butthurt demons in your head doesn't count as a "source".
Buddy, Jensen is never going to get away from his contractual obligations from SPN or Creation because that's where the money is at.  For most conventions, it's too expensive to hire both Jared and Jensen, especially what Jensen is charging these days because FBBC is barely breaking even, if that.
I continue to be fascinated by your need to have Jensen and Misha appear on the same panel because 80% of the time something goes wrong for Misha.  Jensen usually gets away scot free from the fallout though that's happening less and less these day precisely because he doesn't have a Jared to cover for him.

I’m glad to know that I’m not the only one who doesn’t like when people ask about other shows when they’re supposed to be promoting Walker.
Also, I love Jared, but he specifically said that as an EP he has had to learn how to lie and understand that it’s necessary. And he has fibbed about his height for a long time. So, yes, he lies. This isn’t a character flaw. It’s part of his job.
And it would be foolish in a business sense to be negative about a revival, even if one isn’t in the active planning stage.
(Though personally I prefer more Walker or something else to watch Jared in than a SPN revival)
Yeah, I get that those questions are in there for publicity, but I just want to focus on Walker. SPN is over, and hopefully will continue to be over.
Jared knows how to be publicly positive. Example, he's said he'd be open to being on The Boys, but then gave a bunch of funny excuses for why he's not ready. It's probably not going to happen because that's not his brand, but he can't say no, outright.
You can't dismiss or be negative about potential projects in Hollywood because it then makes productions skittish to hire someone who's willing to be publicly negative. So, of course, Jared's going to be positive about a reboot. And it's likely, like I saw another anon mention, that Jared's very public about it so that no one else thinks of blindsiding him again with a Sam-less reboot.

I get why J2 feel so protective of Sam and Dean, but there's plenty of SPN writers who worked on the show for many years that understand the characters just as well and that could be trusted as EP with no issues. Like, I'm not saying J2 shouldn't have input, but they're not writers or showrunners, and there's things an actor's perspective may not consider, that a writer would (and the other way around, ofc).
To add up to my last anon about J2 being EPs, I do think they would be more protective of the writer's creative input. I think it would be a more collaborative approach than they ever had during the original SPN run. Which is a good thing, obviously. And obviously I prefer J2 as EPs than people who have never worked on the show (like Jensen brought EPs in that had experience in scifi shows, but not SPN, for the spinoff).
J2 disagree with you. They've said that nobody knows their characters or has lived with their characters as long as they have. They've said that they know Sam and Dean better than anyone else. They've talked about this on stage, but in more detail in m&gs, so I can't go into specifics, but they disagree with you, especially Jared.
This doesn't mean that they aren't going to hire writers. They've said multiple times that they don't want to actually write the show. It just means that, if they have a disagreement with Kripke over what Sam and Dean would do, then J2 will win that disagreement. They aren't going to agree to a reboot unless they have the power to win that disagreement.
They are no longer going to keep their head down when asked to do something that doesn't fit their characters. If Kripke joins them, they will be in charge of Kripke, not the other way around.

14, 18, and 26!
14. How would you spend a million dollars?
ohoho, good question, here we go:
help parents pay off debts and shit
hire someone to clean our house
go on a road trip in the US
travel the fucking world, go anywhere and everywhere
take as many college classes as I please (maybe even get a degree or two if I feel like it)
hire private tutors to teach me all the languages I wanna learn
hire a private chef to teach me how to cook or to cook for me when I don't have the energy
donate to some charities/orgs
buy as much as I can from small businesses/artists
18. What tattoos do you want?
SO many, christ. here, let me name a few:
The S5 She Ra sword (from the reboot) with a ribbon wrapped around it that reads "You're worth more than what you can give to other people, you deserve love, too"
the spn pentagram thingy
medusa tattoo
a semi colon tattoo
three butterflies
some Fall Out Boy lyrics: "I don't care what you think, as long as it's about me; the best of us can find happiness in misery"
"fiat justitia, ruat caelum" (latin for: "let justice be done, though the heavens fall")
some Five Finger Death Punch lyrics: "tight or wrong, i can hardly tell, in on the wrong side of heaven and the righteous side of hell"
probably an anatomically correct heart
maybe the constellation of my zodiac sign
there's more but I can't think think of them......I should really write these down......
26. What’s your favorite season?
fall :D
thanks for the ask! <3
send me an ask?

I painted over some lazarus rising screencaps because I thought it’d be very cool if Cas got to be a tiny bit more eldritch, by way of Dean being able to see glimpses of what he really looks like

this was all part of the jackles long con to begin with, buy the rights to supernatural knowing it will go bankrupt, then once it's gone he would release the tapes because he owns supernatural so he can do whatever and then it'll go on HBO
I HAVE NO CLUE if this has any truth to it but I cannot stop thinking about it.
But I think Jensen and Danneel could have been told they could have supernatural if they wanted to continue it.
So we all know Jensen was very on the fence about the script of the ending. Kripke even had to get involved to convince Jensen.
So fast forward to spn finally finishing wrapped and then in the same week Jensen and Danneel file for their production company, which is part of Warner Brothers (september 17 2020) The og name was Freewill Entertainment LLC. It was later changed to Chaos Machine in Nov 2020.
Jensen from then on has not been a big fan of the finale. He was silent for months on it and still only gives have assed responses. haven't I seen him say "I am proud and happy with how the story of my character ended"
and then the whole Prequel stuff coming out and how J*red wasn't told about it (and he was the main of a current CW show) And how the Ackles hired on Robbie Thompson, who had left the CW writing crew entirely mind you. Oh and their head of development has this in her linked in "Former active board member of Warner Bros.’ OUT@WB business resource group for over 3 years at the studio. Spearheaded multiple philanthropy events for the studio and created the first employee panel featuring several LGBTQIA+ characters from the DC-on-CW lineup." (she left DC entertainment to join Chaos Machine too)
and now with this sale of CW and again I don't know the workings of all this but I would assume when sold the Ackles/Chaos would renegotiate/ gain more rights of the show and considering that Chaos is also a part of Warner Brothers I feel it would help them out too ?
Jensen was also the one to consistently push the reboot narrative, that this wasn't the end of the story. He brought that up unprompted and Chaos also follows HBO MAX on instagram and someone brought up a great point of HBO looooving to "reboot" shows (gossip girl spin off, spin off of the sopranos, the friends reunion, sex and the city, gremlins, Dune tv show,GOT spin off) are all HBO productions either aired or in the works right now.
So I don't know what this all means, the CW being sold i feel like is a huge W for the ackles/chaos. But I can't help but think.
Were they tipped off about how broke the network was? and was letting the bad supernatural finale go ahead just another chess piece in letting the ackles get full control of the show eventually?
They had some rights and hired a writer in 7 months that has to mean something right? and also I think it's really funny they chose a name that has the initals like CM. Cause it's basically the CW but upside down.

If you had written an episode of Supernatural, what would the plot be? (it can be a one shot or part of an overarching plot for the series)
Okay, so putting aside the common fandom ones that everyone’s taken a swing at- human!Impala, body swap, etc- and going with my strengths, it has to be an 80s vampire movie sort of thing. Very teen slasher, lots of Lost Boys references, a bit of that ‘our vampires are different’ thing that spn likes to do when they bring up other vampire media, the works.
Actually to really nail the Lost Boys vibe it should be in California on a boardwalk, maybe just before the spring break rush so business has been a little slow and the boys don’t have to contend with crowds. Dean is canonically a Lost Boys fan so he has that connection, and having it in Cali gives us room for some Sam flashbacks to his college days- I’m picturing this somewhere in the middle seasons, maybe, after the apocalypse but before the bunker. Probably season 7, as a motw filler ep to distract from the Leviathan stuff.
They stay at a charming but mostly empty b&b just off the boardwalk, still pretty empty because the tourist season doesn’t kick in for a few weeks yet. They’re trailing a string of disappearances- mostly drifters and runaways, but recently some local kids went missing and it made news. The boardwalk might not be at full capacity, but it is running.
Dean gets a shitty leather jacket at one of the stalls just like Michael lostboys. Sam runs into one of his old college buds who’s working on the boardwalk and awkwardly tries to hide the whole hunting thing before eventually narrowly rescuing the guy from the pack of vampires, who it turns out are running the bed and breakfast, and revealing himself as a hunter.
There’s at least one conversation about Jess when said college friend says he heard about the fire and asks Sam if he’s doing okay, if he ever moved on, etc- this is season 7 so I don’t think Sam has fully embraced the eternal hunter lifestyle yet so he’s a little awkward about the whole thing and it provokes some introspection, but he realizes after saving his friend that he does actually like helping people and makes some comment to Dean as they’re driving off about how being a hunter isn't too bad and it 'probably beats being a lawyer'. Maybe he’s even been to this boardwalk before with Jess so we get a flashback? idk I just think it’s weird that they forget about her after like a season or two so she’s at least discussed.
And this is a Lost Boys homage so even though it has its own plot there are plenty of little references- the intro scene is two teenage brothers getting picked off by vampires and the younger one is named ‘Mike’, Dean points out some flyer for a saxophone concert on the beach later in the week (because while Sam is confronting his past Dean is just having a good time on the beach), one of the vampires is named Corey, Dean at first thinks that the vampires are hiding out in a cave in the nearby woods because he has terminal Lost Boys disease until they get like hit over the head and wake up in the secret basement of the b&b surrounded by vampires. They use Echo & The Bunnymen aliases. At one point while they’re talking over the case in a diner Sam makes some crack about The Lost Boys being 'kind of gay' and Dean gets flustered/indignant but can’t come up with a good comeback.
Over the course of the episode they pose as FBI agents, talent scouts, and pretend to be interested in jobs as security guards at the boardwalk (a job position that, for some reason, always seems to be hiring) to get information because I like it when they play around with different cover stories instead of defaulting to FBI but also I had the idea of “Agents McCulloch and Sergeant” so I do want them to play FBI a little, something that quickly falls apart when Sam gets recognized by Unnamed College Friend and has to be like 'oh haha they're fake badges it's a joke. like uhhh' 'federal boob inspectors' 'yeah yeah like that see we're not impersonating federal agents my brother here is just a creep'.
And they get to go to the beach! This is an episode where Sam considers his past and confronts the fact that he doesn't feel as trapped being a hunter as he thought he would at 22, but it’s also an episode where Dean has a good day for once because I think he’s earned a little beach time. They don’t swim on camera or anything but Dean goads Sam to take a break from the research and catch a tan with him or something. Sam makes a comment at the end of the episode about there being sand in his keyboard and something like “that’s enough beach for me for a while” because I am projecting my not-a-beach-person thing onto Sam. Overall it's a fun light-hearted motw episode with a hint at Sam's series long character arc.
Unfortunately as a motw episode in season 7 Cas isn’t there and only gets like a brief mention in the beginning of the episode before they decide to take the case, but Dean got a souvenir so at some point later in the series there’s room for a callback where Dean shows off his shitty black leather jacket and asks Cas if he thinks he looks good in it- canon typical queerbait, you know how it is. Maybe there’s another motw episode in a later season where Sam’s college friend comes back as a vampire or something because that feels like something spn would do.
CW hire me for the fake spn reboot.

8. Favorite Cas (ex. Casifer, endverse, honey, etc)? My favorite Cas is when he’s being a stone cold bitch, but my second favorite Cas is Dadstiel 😌
11. Which episode do you wish we had gotten (ex. beach episode, body swap episode, human!impala episode, etc)? A body-swap episode would have been amazing just for how hate-crimey it would inevitably be.  Also...a fake marriage/fake dating episode but like, not destiel.  Personally I think not!sastiel sam/cas fake dating is a hilarious trope.
23. You get to make one decision for the jackles reboot/miniseries. What is it? he hires me as showrunner cas is in it, jarp*d is not. spn asks for the destielcule

I was tagged by @bea2me to do self-isolating watch game. Thank you!
I had to search tumblr a bit for what I’m supposed to do, but here we go. Under the cut, because it got long (with gifs, as requested. ;))
Watched:
My Life is Murder - an Australian comedic murder mystery show with Lucy Lawless as the lead. I watched it just before self-isolating, but I’m gonna rec it again just because.
Tumblr media
Contagion (2011) - Eerily current. Just swap Covid-19 with a mystery virus the name of which I forgot and you get the scenario we’re living. Except with a bit more competent US government? It felt a bit unfinished though, in particularly in regard to Marion Cotillard’s character, so, bleh. (Also,WTF did I even like to torture myself with this? Is it not enough real life is the way it is right now?)
The Two Popes (2019) - a biopic about Pope Benedict XVI and Pope Francis, acting parts interspersed with documentary shots, very good (but I am Catholic.)
Tumblr media
Wings of Desire (1987) - German; apparently Kripke’s inspiration for Castiel about an angel who falls in love with a trapeze artist, the free will or lack there-of used as an allegory for defiance against/the system behind the Iron Curtain. A rather artistic piece with a feel of a theatrical play. I especially liked the black-and-white vs.coloured scenes montage.
Tumblr media
Husband for Hire (2008) - what the title says, an heiress has to get married to get her inheritance, so she hires a guy. A rather adorable rom-com, it made me laugh and forget other things for a while, which was all I was looking for, so job done. (Not to be mixed with a telemundo telenovela, which apparently also exists.)
(No gifs to be found, alas.)
Watching:
Besides what’s left of LoT, The Rookie, and CPD before the covid suspension kicks in (and New Amsterdam, but eh, I tend to forget it, because I don’t like this season that much, same goes for Grey’s and 19. Why am I still watching these anyway? Oh, right, habit and ease of access.):
Wellington Paranormal - a New Zealand comedic sci-fi police procedural, in a mock-documentary style about Wellington paranormal police unit consisting of three (3) cops, more incompetent that not, but very entertaining. I’m on ep 2 of season 2 (also, do not miss the Christmas special, b/c it’s A+) and I am enjoying it very much. It might even have been you, Bea, who recced it? In any case I highly recommend it further. ;)
Tumblr media
Four Weddings and a Funeral (US) - based on the 1994 movie, set in London, with mixed British and American characters, with a diverse cast, as a bonus Andie MacDowell guest stars in a minor role, a decent amount of funny moments, not too dramatic, it really manages to capture the movie feel, I’ve only got two episodes left and I’m loving it!
Tumblr media
Planning to watch:
Hmm, because I’m a masochist, I’m eyeing the last season of SPN and The 100 S6, but I’m going to try to restrain myself. It’s not like I have a (*goes to check*) list of 31 shows and 46 movies (gah these lists grow worse than hydra, watch one, add 5 more ;)). Um, so.
On the short list, though:
Miss Fisher and the Crypt of Tears - I’m actually planning to get to this one today after lunch, because I can’t wait. (While I’m at that, I do totally recommend Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries, it’s Australian murder mystery show happening in the 1920s and it’s fabulous! The movie is a continuation of the series (which was finished.)
Tumblr media
The Last King (2016),  Little Women (2019), A Very English Scandal, El Tiempo Entre Costuras,  the Cosmos reboot, oh, right and I started Siempre Bruja (Always a Witch) a couple of years ago and never finished it, because while the concept intrigued me, the particular brand of suspense frustrated me too much, but I might give it another shot to finish it.
I’ll report on these if/when I watch any.
And if I run out of things to watch, I can always do a TO rewatch I want.
Tagging: @lglorien, @eveningspirit, @jadedbirch, @wellwhataboutme, @totallyshelfaware, @stargazerdaisy and whoever else wants to do it (as always feel free to ignore.)

This is a weird question and I’m not even certain if it’s an area that you would know a lot about but I decided I’d give it a try.
Isn’t there any sort of anything that could be done if Jensen decided that he just wanted to make a revival and basically retcon and rewrite the entire story? Would he have the right to do that? A lot of the Hellers and AAs on Twitter seem to think that that is what he could and will actually do.
They have said that he could do a revival the way he wanted to and even cut Jared out if he chose to. But when it comes to rewriting the entire story, it’s not Jensen’s story.
Aren’t the characters copyrighted and owned and therefore cannot be used for profit to basically create a Fanfiction or fan service? Is there anything that would legally stop him from doing that?
WB owns the rights to Supernatural, if they want a revival or reboot, they'll hire showrunners to bring it back.  WB is letting Jensen have a go at their SPN IP, but if Jensen's little experiment with The Winchesters fails then WB likely won't trust him again with their IP.
And even if WB gives Jensen free rein with SPN, he's still not going to give Hellers or even AAs what they want. Hell, Jensen isn't even giving OG fans what they want and instead he’s giving them young Sam 2.0 + fem!Dean narrated by real Dean who suspiciously sounds like Jensen Ackles during a zoom meeting.

Did you see Jared talking about discussing things with writers for a reboot today? Do you think that will happen?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Since I received a few different asks (with varying degree of interest, lol), all about the reboot discussion from HonCon, I thought I'd combine them and share my thoughts about what Jensen and Jared shared.
Now, the main panel didn't really have anything substantative in regards to when a reboot might happen or what it might be about so I'm mostly basing my thoughts on the Gold panel (which you can view here.)
(Side note: The English teacher mention was just referencing the attendee who asked the last question because she actually was a student of Jared's mom.)
The question (starting at 29:31) was basically asking about how the scenes would play out between Sam and Dean in Heaven, post 15x20, when Sam tells Dean about Dean Jr., and then later Sam's anticipation and reunion (and meeting his Uncle) when Dean Jr. joins them in Heaven. Here's their response:
Jared: "I will say, un, not to try and dodge it, but I hope... I have some ideas, and I hope now that the writers are back, and actors are back, that we all get to see it together."
Jensen: "We get to see those scenes played out in real life?" shrug "Wait, what?... Yeah, (?) stay tuned on that."
Jared: "Yeah, yes."
Jensen: "There's some conversations regarding that conversation that are being had."
So, I know they've talked reboot before, and usually it's pretty vague... "putting the boots back on" kind of stuff. Here, Jared does dodge the question, which was very specific. If, what I'm thinking, actually sees fruition, @lol-jackles should ask for a writing credit, because he's shared this idea before!
Basically (and I'm not a mind-reader so this is just my opinion), I think they're looking at the possibility of doing a post-15x20 series that centers around Dean Jr. with Sam and Dean popping in as side characters. And I think that for a couple of different reasons. One, is, like I mentioned, Jared's dodge of a very specific post-15x20 question. The second, if you go earlier in the panel (around 9:40), Jared is still talking about hanging up the acting boots and moving behind the scenes to tell stories. I don't think he wants to go back to the grind of SPN as a lead. I think he knows that a successful reboot requires both Sam and Dean, but I imagine they would be there in a limited capacity as a way of handing over the baton to the next generation.
Now, you may say that Jensen already tried that and failed with The Winchesters so why would they do another series where Sam and Dean's roles were limited? Well, I think TW had other issues besides the lack of Sam that helped doom the show, not the least of which was an inexperienced production team. With Jared on board as an EP, which he's proven he can do successfully, he'd have power over the story, the casting, hiring the writers, etc. that could give a reboot a better chance.
Of course, it still sounds like they're in the earliest stages, even though they've had three years to think about it, and who knows what the industry will look like in the next few years. As Jared and Jensen shared in the main panel, if Supernatural had aired it's first season this last year, it would have been canceled because of all the changes the industry is going through.
Personally, I don't know if a reboot will ever see the light of day, regardless of how much Jared and Jensen may want it. There's so many obstacles they'd have to get through, including studio support. (And let's be honest, the WB is not in a good place right now.) Final answer... who knows! LOL!
Anyway, those are my thoughts. I hope you didn't mind waiting, but this was something that I wanted to respond to thoughtfully, instead of a quick glib answer. (Partly because the glib answers end up with tinhatters in my inbox, lol!)

Re-Boot thoughts...
I think any “reboot” of Supernatural could work if they took a really careful self-reflective critique of the last 15 seasons, looked at what worked and what didn’t, settled on a tone to stick to, (dark and a little bit of gallows humor thrown in would be a good path, imo) found a balance for the sets and lighting that hit a sweet spot between so dark you can’t see anything and way too peppy and bright, got some really solid ASCAP agreements laid down so they didn’t have to scrimp and pinch for music choices, and wrote a solid bible that the writers can easily refer to when stuck for a point of shoe mythology, as well as hire a continuity team whose job it was to make sure glaring plot holes were avoided.
Cast chemistry was off the charts here, largely because of the J’s, but let’s not pretend no other show or casts have chemistry, it’s happened before, it’ll happen again.
Reboot arcs that could work?
-we have another generation of “special children” coming of age (this would require some ret-con of why they are still special after SPN is over, of course, but what if? like what if they suddenly stopped being special (when Azazel bit it) and then suddenly they were again (12 or 13 years later) and they start finding each other and looking for the Winchesters or people who knew them for answers?
-Young Bobby and Rufus (not young like kids, young like Karen’s story is the pilot and they go from there.)
-Or we have an aftermath of God being gone/replaced by Amara, or Jack, or Sam and Dean or whatever the endgame episodes give us. Monsters, do they still exist? Is witchcraft still a thing? Are they suddenly not? Are all magics and supernatural entities/energies just gone? Give me a found family of a ex-werewolf who is suffering trauma from past violence, a centuries old vampire who is suddenly mortal and finding it very hard to cope, a shapeshifter who gets stuck in the worst shape they could imagine, and a witch whose spells have just stopped working, trying to figure out wtf just happened.
- Give me a few centuries down the road, when the “Winchester Gospels” are their own sect of religion, and no one really believes in it, but they still dress up and go to services on the sabbath, til one plucky heroine finds the actual demon hunting knife, or her friend who has custody of the other brain cell finds Baby parked out in front of what looks like an old warehouse in the middle of Kansas. Give me two idiots who start on a journey to find out if it all really happened.
My point is, they built this really expansive universe, a re-boot doesn’t have -- nor should it be expected -- to be, a shot for shot re-do. We are not going to get Sam-n-Dean again, and any re-boot needs to avoid suffering from that fact by trying to force a copy of it.

I have a kind of hypothetical for you - lets say Jensen isn't just blowing smoke up everyone's ass and saying what he thinks people want to hear to get people interested in TW. There has been talk of time travel/timeline elements/flash forwards as a way to get og spn cast on the show, most recently he's talked about having all the Johns on, he's joked around about angels on the show leaving that open for og cast as well, etc etc. IF he were to try and get og cast on how do you think that would go? I mean, he very clearly has a LIMITED budget (just look at the main cast and those "special effects") so I'm guessing he wouldn't be able to pay most of the og cast members their usual wages, its just not in the budget. And esp wouldn't be able to afford people like JDM. Do you think they would take a pay cut because they are friends with him and want to help him out with an spn property (I know this a job and that's not how it works and especially because some are only work friends so I doubt that would necessarily be a big factor for many)? But some of them make their living mostly off spn cons so would they take a pay cut to stay in the spn-verse (no matter how bad the show is) just to keep con money flowing? JDM is a different story because he doesn't need spn cons but he IS an actual close friend of Jensen's, do you think he would cameo to help out a friend? I mean, Jensen is the one who got him back for the 300th ep... I'm just trying to gauge how much is just Jensen saying whatever in the hopes that people will tune in thinking they'll see characters they know and love back on screen and how much is him actually trying to make that stuff work.
First, guest roles are only about $8K and since most SPN extras don't have notable non-SPN roles then they'll be cheap, which saves up money for the more expensive actors like JDM to make one-time guest appearance during sweeps.
Second, notice that Jensen talked about doing a limited SPN series on HBOMax. That's because salaries on streaming services sucks, but at least that also means the network would have enough cash for 6 to 10 episodes.
Third, absolutely most of the OG actors will be willing to take pay cuts if there's a chance that The Winchesters could revitalize the SPN-only con and increase their chances at being hired at non-SPN cons. Misha was willing to take a pay cut after season 11, but Mark Sheppard wouldn't take a pay cut after season 12. Roseanne cast accepted massive pay cuts after Roseanne Barr departed the rebooted show.
"I'm just trying to gauge how much is just Jensen saying whatever in the hopes that people will tune in thinking they'll see characters they know and love back on screen"
I would say that's 25%. I think it's mostly telling the actors to promote TW at cons and say nice things about him. I think Matt Cohen (John Winchester #2) was saying bunch of nice things about the TW pilot at a con and will again on ET.
"and how much is him actually trying to make that stuff work."
He's throwing out bunch of ideas out there to see which one lands and get traction. He may be getting pushback from Robbie and the writers and so taking his timeline/multiverse ideas publicly.

When do you think we’ll know which network is gonna host the new Walker reboot? How much time does it take in general for the negotiations to be done? And do you think it’ll be good? I really hope it turns out to be a success!
I initially thought the announcement was kind of early, until I considered the possiblity that Jared’s team is aiming for Upfronts in May of 2020 and maybe a midseason premiere during the 2020-2021 season, as midseason typically features some debuts from major networks, cablers, and even streaming services.
This is the general timeline from pitch to pilot:
June to September = pitch to the studio.  CBS Studio agree to back the Walker reboot and refine the outlines of the story idea that will hopefully become pilot scripts.  This is when the majority of the negociation between studios and networks occur.
October = every writer in LA is frantically finishing the first draft to deliver to the network by Thanksgiving.
November through January = multiple drafts of scripts
February = Your show is greenlit and you need to hire actors and crew and start filming.
March = production
April = post production.
late April or early May the network tells you if your show is picked up by them.
May = Upfronts
July = Comic con
If Jared goes straight from SPN’s finale fiilming (late March) to filming the Walker pilot the next day then we’ll know by May 2020 at the earliest if Walker is picked up by a network.
“And do you think it’ll be good?”
I think it will be like the other CBS rebooted shows: clear cut morals, clean humor, and chemistry among the cast. So it will be good enough.
“I really hope it turns out to be a success!”
The original Walker had trouble appealing to young women audience, which shouldn’t be a problem for Jared’s Walker.  Supernatural survived for this long partly because it appeals to middle America, which was the original Walker’s audience and why it lasted 8 seasons.
