The finale is sensitive for me because I miss SPN but it was a beautiful wrap up of a story that started AND ended with the brothers. Sam and Dean went through too much. Theyre safe and at peace together now. I wish anti finale people would move on from it and let fans enjoy the happy ending we got.

Just SPN fandom musing

Like I saw a particular account on Twitter calling themselves SPN cons something something (I don't want to actually name this individual)... Defending Jensen about the whole merch signing thing on Airport with the statement ending in Go To Cons. Obviously some people rightfully didn't like that with some saying it's on him to say no or how that's abelist both of which I agree with.

Out of curiosity I scrolled through their account where they were apolozing for initially indulging in drama and how people think they hate Jared coz their pfp is only Jensen. Obviously their account rarely features Jared except for pointing out to Jared fans how they may not have given photo credit on the pics that they are posting or on some other generic J2 posts at the most. It's heavily skewed even then. You know it's still perfectly fine with me that you have a preference and you show it to the world.

Then suddenly they have a post complaining how they don't have friends in the Fandom and how things are perhaps not going that great. Guess what the next post is;

Couple of more similar ones after that. For some reason that irrationally pissed me off. You don't talk about the guy at all except for inconjunction to Jensen. You don't support his projects. Not one comment about milestones in his life but D gets a birthday post but yeah when you are having a bad day, you remember Jared and AKF.

The lack of empathy and basic judgment about acceptable behaviors being shown right now by spn twitter stans who are caping for an actor man's bad behavior sure was a reminder memo for me on how bad spn stan twitter can be for mental health.

I set the bar so low. SO LOW. I didn’t set it low enough.

Imaging believing it’s crazy to think that fans should be able to make untagged tweets with opinions on a piece of media without an actor man barging in to tell them to shut up, and to mind actor man’s subsequent behavior. When the initial misfired “joke” (he claims it was a joke) didn’t go over well, actor man then makes a string of objectively inappropriate jokes and“lol JK!!!” fixes all problems. And then it’s the fault of anyone who minded, of course. Anything’s ok so long as you go “lol jk” afterwards.

Actor man then flounces to IG with a post that further throws fans under a bus, and deletes his twitter, then returns only to make a long-winded passive aggressive fauxpology that backhandedly threw even more blame onto the fans. Still not good behavior, and does not make him a hero or the victim. Okay, he’s human. Maybe he’s trying. That means he can mess up and get it wrong. It doesn’t mean “cape for him at all costs.” It doesn’t mean be awful about anyone with the good judgment to recognize there was a problem here.

So a chorus of stans lacking in critical thinking and simple, basic good judgment and empathy are wailing about "snowflakes who have no sense of humor" or screeching about imaginary "bullies" when actor man instigated a pointless, stupid drama, tripled down, acted in a melodramatic way when he got criticism for the behavior, and his stans spread misinformation or deliberate lies over what actually happened and are giving off all kinds of red flags about being people to avoid, in my opinion.

None of these people would be able to take being treated how actor man treated fans (accidentally as a joke or not, it happened) or be able to take how they are treating other fans.

There’s people using this “incident” to give themselves a false sense of moral superiority. Or in some cases, maliciously weaponize it, virtue signaling for grudgewank reasons.

And then people wonder why some of us don’t want to go to twitter standom any more.

Maybe the people with the false sense of self righteousness while being so deeply unkind and creating an environment that feels deeply unsafe for other fans are the ones who need a break from the internet, take a break from their self-congratulatory circle jerk to step back and think about their own behavior and actual human beings.

A little bit ago you posted something about Eoin Macken making a fanfic like what was done with SPN. Is this his mysterious Merlin project he’s been hinting about? Do you happen to know anything more about it? Theories? I’ve been dying to know anything.

All I know about Eoin Macken’s Merlin project is the teasing hints he drops on twitter, which eventually make their way here.

(I don’t directly interact with Twitter, or Facebook, or Instagram, or TikTok. One social media timesuck is enough).

But if we’re talking theories…

Well. Yes. I have those.

So we know that Eoin writes scripts, and we know that Tom and Eoin have created a film together in the past, and we know that Bradley and Tom and Eoin and Adetomiwa are still in contact, because they were on that fundraiser together and they had lunch in London etc.

We know Katie has been to Colin’s plays, and Colin has been in contact with Ms. Troughton. (I’m not certain about Angel’s interactions, and I complement her for being able to keep her private life so private. Well done, m’lady.)

We also know that all the Merlin actors are extremely aware of how much the Merlin fandom still supports them, and many of the performers have spoken frequently about how grateful they are for the support, and for having Merlin in their lives, to boost their careers. So they love the fandom and they love the show and they loved working together — mostly.

So my theory? Based on just that information?

I think that Eoin has an idea for a story, or maybe even a full script written, and he’s trying to get the band back together and Make The Thing, with financial backers to do it, involving the busy schedules of all the Merlin alums.

I’m not sure whether it’s a “Fix Gwaine Being Dead” canon-era thing with Bradley in voiceover (much more likely), or a “Bring Arthur Back” modern thing, as in season 6 (more difficult).

Even if it’s the easier route, there’s a lot of challenges. Doing any kind of Merlin project would mean Eoin can convince Colin to go back to a project he’s done before, which he has vocally said he doesn’t do as an actor, ever ever ever. I think Eoin could wear him down, though. But even with that handled, there’s still obtaining the financial backing…. And getting everyone’s very busy schedules to align…

So. It’s feasible, but there’s challenges.

If it were me? Honestly? As in Eoin-If-Youre-Reading-This-Seriously-Here’s-A-Suggestion?

I’d write a radio drama and get the cast together on a remote zoom call and perform it like a table read.

Just… get something out there. Show people there’s an audience. Then, once you have this Proof of Concept finished, and show there’s an audience, then go after the Full Monty.

Every single writer’s conference I watch talks about getting that shorter proof of concept out there. The Matrix folks made a graphic novel to sell the script. Lots of theatrical films are based on 5 minute short films. Product design works this way too. Proof of concept, baby. Git-r-done.

That’s what I think, anyway.

While the Winchesters premise is very dumb and the show looks dumer, I'm glad it was made because we still have SPN drama in 2023. I only saw one or to scene but I'm waiting for the magic episode that would glue the show together.

I watch the drama on the sidelines and is funny reading "J2" fans complaining that Jared didn't check with Jensen in private because his public tweets ruined their fandom experience.

I admit I'm looking forward to the mythical 13th episode to explain everything! It’s only after The Winchesters was roasted to hell and back that Jensen insisted that all will be "revealed" by episode 13 on why the whole show is so dang stupid. When it's just a ploy to get people to keep watching so that he could get a 2nd season.

Jared probably would have reached out to Jensen in private, but Kripke opened his twitter hole and ruined everything so Jared had to publicly set the record straight. If those "J2" fans are mad then they should have directed their ire at Kripke who is trying to rewrite his high school experience as one of the cool kids instead of a weird nerd.  The AA side of the "J2" fandom are just pissed that they can no longer count Jared/Sam girls to both support Jensen's projects and come to Jensen's defense whenever Destiel hellers are being buttholes.
