Greetings guys and gals and non - binary pals. Today I present you with:
@spop-palentines 's Day 23: OPPOSITES
Tumblr media
The one who deals with friendship stuff
Tumblr media
And the "punch out your feelings" kind of guy.
TITLE : Worthy
"Wow, you're just as big as me!"
Scorpia let out a delighted chuckle, clicking her pincers together.
Huntara grunted as she picked up a large piece of shard broken off from one of Horde Prime's ships and tossed it over to the pile of discarded space items that had been growing for a few days behind the bar, all collected before being sent to the incinerator. Defending the Crimson Waste had been a hard task. With every ten bots fought off, a hundred took their place. Prime's clones never missed their regular checkups of the conquered sites. Despite the Horde's infinite power, the criminals had been resistant to the terrorism and held back from submitting themselves to Prime's cause, anger and resent instilling within themselves against the whiteclad mostly unconscious creatures at their offer of being controlled and losing their solidarity.
"Why are you here?" Huntara growled, dropping her arms to her sides. Her brows were furrowed by default and a drop of sweat oozed out of the crease as she squinted at the sudden exposure to the Waste's brightness.
"Oh, right, I'm sorry," Scorpia said, letting out a chortle. Huntara's frown deepened but the princess didn't seem to notice. "I mean, gosh, I've heard so much about you! Huntara, leader of the Crimson Waste, ex-Horde soldier. You know, I used to be with the Horde too. I left only a while ago. I understand what-"
"Why," Huntara interrupted, inching closer to Scorpia, "are you here?"
"Oh, I did it again didn't I?" Scorpia chuckled nervously. "I tend to babble when I'm nervous. Which I am, because," she proceeded to gesture with her pincers, "you're the Huntara of Crimson Waste. This land full of criminals get shaky knees at your sight. You can keep this place going with a snap of your fingers." Scorpia attempted and failed to demonstrate the snap, her claws annoyingly gliding off one another as she brought them in contact. "Yeah, I can't snap. I'm sorry, where was I?"
Huntara had walked off to pick up the other mechanical messes that surrounded the bar. Scorpia let her arms fall, then mustered courage and walked over to Huntara who currently held a broken robot gun-arm, examining it.
"I came here for the bounty thing," Scorpia said, using her Force Captain voice. "Your criminals have been scouring Etheria looking for Adora... She ra. They won't find her. They're fruitlessly breaking and barging into homes and shops since we won't let them near the Castle."
"Can you blame them?" Huntara said, throwing the gun away, apparently concluding it was worthless. "This place was messed up when i returned." She mindlessly walked around in the vicinity, picking up anything shiny and white and throwing it into the pile without any inspection of its worth. "Just a little nudge into their desperation and," she tossed a ball of green metal in her hand and with immense force threw it towards the pile, causing its contents to slither down and make a bigger pool at the base, "they're broken off and doing things on their own. All wrong things."
She stepped back from the pile and looked at Scorpia. Her expression hardened as she recognized the look of sympathy on the princess' face. "I'll look after the bounty thing," she said, dismissively.
"What was it like? When you left the Horde?" Scorpia asked, softening her tone, not meaning to pry.
Huntara sighed. Something about her made her realize she was a lot like herself, an ex-Horde soldier, recently defected to the side she'd spent years helping take down. Although, unlike Huntara who escaped to seclusion she now fought for all the people who once fought her.
"It was kind of scary at first," she said, dusting her hands on her torn trousers. "I was afraid they'd find me and ship me off to Beast Island. But I found myself here, you know. I found my true purpose among these criminals. I brought order into this place."
"I wish I could do more," Scorpia said gravely. "I'm no good to anyone except in a fight, you know. I'm only the muscle."
Huntara's expression softened. She managed an encouraging smile and put a comforting hand on Scorpia's shoulder. "Hey," she said. Scorpia looked up, surprised at at intimacy. "They didn't make you force captain for no reason. Be it for muscle, you are worthy and I'm sure the Rebellion is grateful to you."
Scorpia took it in. Once she realized this was real and happening, she grinned. "Did we just bond?" she whispered, excitedly, pulling her pincers together. "I'm friends with the Huntara!"
"Don't push it, big gal," Huntara said, bringing her signature frown back, but her smile didn't falter.

Written for Day 7 of @spop-palentines: Sleepover.
“This is our newest cadet. I trust you’ll all make him feel welcome,” Somehow when Shadow Weaver said that it seemed to imply the opposite, like she was expecting some sort of initiation beating.
The blonde boy behind her gulped, hearing the tone. He pushed forwards anyway and waved at the three girls in the room.
“Hello. I’m Kyle. I’m new to the Horde, I’ve been living in an orphanage in-” He began.
“Silence!” Shadow Weaver barked and an ominous black shadow surrounded her, causing Kyle to flinch and cower, “Lonnie, you will be responsible for this.”
Shadow indicated one of the girls who was cradling a green lizard in her arms, dressed in clothes matching her own.
“Me? What about Adora? I thought she was meant to be team lead,” Lonnie scowled, not that she minded particularly, but she never missed an opportunity to get one over on Catra.
There was no love lost between the two.
“Adora,” Shadow Weaver crooned the name, before returning to her normal voice, “has other responsibilities,” she began ticking off on her fingers, “Catra is too incompetent, Rogelio can’t talk, so that leaves you.”
“Rogelio can talk. We talk all the time,” Lonnie returned defensively.
“Silence! That is the second time you’ve talked back. Are you trying to challenge Catra for the title of most useless cadet?” Shadow Weaver scolded, “If I were you, I wouldn’t do it a third time.”
Lonnie paled and stayed silent.
Off to the side, the blonde girl had taken the wrist of the cat girl and was giving it a small squeeze. The cat girls face was scrunched up. She looked furious, or maybe just sad.
“As I said: Lonnie, you are in charge of this,” On that statement Shadow Weaver swept from the room.
“Adora, lets get back to playing,” The cat girl took the hand of the blonde, who must be Adora; and tried to pull her away.
“I want to meet the new guy, Catra. Come on,” Adora dug her heels in.
“But…” Catra’s face fell for a minute, before she sneered, “Fine. You weren’t playing right anyway. I’ll play by myself. It’ll be more fun.”
“Catra…” Adora followed the girl to one of the beds and instantly began trying to placate her.
“Ignore her,” Lonnie pointed to the door where Shadow Weaver left, “And them,” She indicated the two girls with her thumb over her shoulder, “They’re unbearable sometimes. I’m Lonnie and this is Rogelio. We’re the cool members of the team. You’re better off with us.”
“Aww! He’s adorable. Is he your emotional support lizard? Can I pet him?” Kyle requested.
“That is your teammate!” Lonnie scolded.
Rogelio roared something in her arms that had Lonnie rolling her eyes.
“He said that you can pet him,” Lonnie explained, holding him out for Kyle.
Kyle carefully pet the lizard, who seemed completely unfazed.
“You know, you should stop acting like an animal, or people are going to treat you like one,” Lonnie sighed, before glancing over to where Adora was scratching the spot behind Catra’s ears.
“So… Where do I sleep?” Kyle wondered, looking at all the beds.
“That one’s free,” Lonnie indicated one.
“And we all sleep here together?” Kyle asked, uncertainly.
“No, only on the third Sunday of the month,” Lonnie scoffed and when Kyle looked like he believed her, she sighed and added, “That’s why all the beds are here.”
“That’s amazing! It’s like having a sleepover every night!” Kyle gushed.
“What’s a sleepover?” Adora asked, having finally persuaded Catra to come over.
“A sleepover… Didn’t you have sleepovers with friends before you joined the Horde?” Kyle wondered.
Adora shrugged and there was something about her expression that made Kyle sad. Catra bumped her forehead against Adora’s arm and Adora smiled at her.
“I didn’t have any friends before the Horde,” Adora confided.
At least she couldn’t remember having any, but then, she couldn’t remember a time before the Fright Zone. Maybe she’d been born there? She hadn’t heard of anyone else being born in the Fright Zone. She’d ask Shadow Weaver about it one day.
Oh. That poor girl. Kyle hadn’t exactly been popular, but he’d had a couple of people to get about with. Adora must have been really lonely.
“It looks like you have friends now,” He pointed out comfortingly, “And I’d like to be your friend.”
Adora beamed, as Catra hissed in outrage.
“I’d like that too. We can all be friends,” Adora decided.
“I don’t want to-” Catra began, but Adora quickly covered her mouth.
“So, about this sleepover, how do we do it?” Adora wondered.
“We can play truth or dare,” Lonnie grinned wickedly at Catra, who growled knowing she wouldn’t like whatever Lonnie was planning to ask.
Rogelio roared in Lonnie’s arms.
“Rogelio says, he’s small enough to sneak through the vents to steal some extra ration bars,” Lonnie added.
“Duh. The vents are huge,” Catra scoffed and then she caught a glimpse of Adora’s pleading face and she was done for: the girl really wanted to know what a sleepover was and knew Catra would be against it, “I can… I don’t know. Pillow fights are lame. Want to sneak down to the drill room and steal some fighting staffs?”
Adora’s face lit up, “But we’re not allowed to train with weapons for another month.”
“Then we just won’t get caught,” Catra smirked at Adora’s excitement, “Come on.”
The two scampered away and as she left Adora gushed, “I can’t believe we get to train at sleepovers. They sound so cool.”
“What’s your favourite part of sleepovers?” Lonnie asked.
“Me? I like all the games and the pranks and stuff. Though I usually mess up the pranks. Are you any good at pranks? We could team up,” Kyle suggested.
“Yeah, alright. The three of us verses those idiots.”

Micah's Garden
For @spop-palentines prompt Legacy
Micah's mother loved gardening. When they were little, he and his sister would work alongside her, playing in the dirt and pretending they were sorcerers growing powerful magic plants like her.
The garden at Bright Moon was her wedding gift. It was Micah’s pride and joy, a piece of Mystacor he got to have with him at his new home.
His sister was horrified when she saw it months after his death, neglected and overgrown. Angella didn’t want to let the castle staff in that space that was so important to her husband, but couldn’t face it herself. So Casta started to tend it whenever she came by. It was a way to feel connected with her late brother, especially when his wife and daughter seemed determined to shut her out.
Then one day after they lost Angella to the portal Casta arrived and found the garden already beautifully tended. She had one brief moment of joy when she thought perhaps Glimmer had finally taken an interest only to find out that it was Shadow Weaver. That awful woman that had manipulated and nearly killed Micah, had tortured and manipulated her niece, had been so terrible to sweet Adora in her brother’s most beloved space?
She couldn’t face it, keeping her distance from Bright Moon. She felt bad about abandoning Glimmer but how could she be expected to stay under such conditions! That WOMAN in her brother’s garden? The place would be tainted forever!
But when the war was over, her brother miraculously returned to her, suddenly it didn’t matter so much. There were too many good memories to let one horrible person taint a legacy that went back so far. It became their thing, her and Micah, to tend it together whenever they could.
And when, years later, Micah’s grandchildren joined them, making a mess with dirt and playing at having magic they were still too little to have, she smiled, knowing this was one legacy that would continue long after her own time.
-
(I know it’s a popular headcanon where someone destroys Micah’s garden of magic plants post war, usually Catra, because Shadow Weaver used it for a while but it’s never made any sense to me. Catra never even SAW Shadow Weaver in that garden, why the heck would she care? If anything, Adora and Glimmer would have more negative memories there but I don’t think either of them would be selfish enough to trash one of the last things Micah has from his old life just because they had a negative association with it. I like it better if Micah comes back and sees his garden still flourishing and it fills him with wonderful memories he can share with the next generation.)

Tumblr media
Even though it's still far away, people have been asking so we wanted to give you a chance to save the date! The next Glimbow Week will be Fall 2021, September 9th-15th, starting on Bow's birthday!
Because we'll be using the leftover prompts from last Glimbow Week for this one, there's no need to wait for a vote! We'll be posting the prompts nice and early to give everyone the whole summer to work on stuff!
Why those dates?
We wanted the week to coincide with Bow's Birthday and this is also the same time we did the Fall Glimbow Week last year.
In an ideal world, we would have preferred to keep the Glimbow Weeks exactly 6 months apart (which would have been mid November) but a) mod Tippen (me) is not available from mid-Oct through December due to a prior commitment b) we felt it was too close to the holidays when everyone would be busy and c) we're the same mods for @spop-palentines in February so we wanted to give ourselves some breathing room for that event.
Ugh, but I'm still working on stuff from the LAST Glimbow Week!
That's totally fine! We'll still be reblogging late stuff so please feel free to submit your stuff whenever you are ready and we'd still love to have it!
Will there be more Glimbow Weeks after this?
We signed up to mod two Glimbow Weeks this year so that's as far ahead as we've thought so right now, there are no plans for more. That said, if there's still interest in doing it after this fall event, we'll just have to see! As long as people still want Glimbow content, we'd love to see it!
Other questions? Our asks are open!

Queen Glimmer - Supreme ruler of the universe
For the twenty-forth day prompt of the SPOP Palentine's month - Teams and alliances - organized by the good people at @spop-palentines I have a full story already published at archive of our own where a Machiavellian Queen Glimmer puts together an unholy alliance to take out Horde Prime. With awesome illustration commissioned from @lorvikk (https://lorvikk.tumblr.com/) Enjoy!
The shadow solidified into two new people. A man and a woman.
"Sorry to barge in. The name is Micah. My little girl here told me she could use some help."
The second person didn't say a word. She only glared at Horde Prime from behind her mask. But her hands were busy preparing a spell.
"To me!" Horde Prime cried to the last clone as he took a step back and prepared to defend himself.
"No," Hordak said and shot him in the face.

After a very unsatisfactory exam, I bring you:
@spop-palentines 's DAY 26: FORGIVENESS
With these two dorks:
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
TITLE: Once Upon a Rebellion
"Hey."
Adora rubbed her eyes and cleared the blurry waves that fogged them, which she'd been too distracted to remove earlier. She sat with her knees drawn to her chest, one arm wielding her sword lazily, the other hugging her legs. She looked up to see Glimmer, her sparkly cloak wrapped around her, come in, looking like she had never been asleep.
"Hey," she returned as Glimmer sat down beside her. Her hair was a mess of pink twigs entangled in a complex matrix which reminded her of Catra's one long hair, branches sticking out like she'd just hissed at somebody, which was pretty much true all the time.
"Can't sleep, huh?" Glimmer said, adjusting the cloak to cover her feet too. "Me neither."
"Nightmares again?" Adora asked.
Glimmer nodded lightly. "Bow helps, sometimes. But it's hard to keep them away. I keep seeing ... him." She shuddered and tightened the cloak around her. "I keep banging against the force field that kept me held in the cell and every time I look behind, the wall seems to close up on me."
Adora dissolved her sword and resting her chin on her knees, listened intently. She remembered the white-washed corridors, the transparent tubes holed into Prime's body as he refilled his... essence. Adora didn't like to think of what or who could've constituted each drop of the green fluid Prime took into his body as his own.
"Hey, where's Catra?" Glimmer asked, after a brief pause. The casual tone made Adora miserable. She wished she could answer with a simple 'a stroll in the woods' or 'standing guard with Melog'. But the truth of her absence was unavoidable as she recalled their argument, Catra's disbelief and how Adora only succeeded in driving her best friend further apart.
"Running away from me," Adora answered, deadpan.
"Running away?" Glimmer's pitch rose an octave higher but her voice managed to remain low, sounding piercing to Adora right next to her. "What - is she not going to fight anymore? She ran away? Why?"
"I don't know," Adora said, quietly and quickly, jumbling up her words. "We had a fight. I think she thinks I still value Shadow Weaver more than her."
Glimmer was silent for a while. It occurred to a Adora that Shadow Weaver was her mentor too, once, training her to work towards the same goal with similar twisted approaches, revenge set on both of their minds. It was a time, Adora recalled, when Princess Glimmer was lost, the Glimmer Adora loved spending time with, the Glimmer who taught her to relax. Queen Glimmer was colder with only the downfall of the Horde set on her mind.
"Do you?" she asked, finally, her voice carrying no judgment or accusation. Just soft, therapeutic curiosity.
"No!" Adora hissed. "I would never do that. It was never about Shadow Weaver.
Glimmer didn't say anything. Adora sighed and continued, "You know what it's like, don't you? This involuntary inclination to please her because she has you convinced you both want the same things."
"I did it to bring down the Horde," Glimmer said, getting defensive. "My mother died because of-"
She broke off, apparently remembering the same thing as Adora. Adora reminisced that day like a throbbing nightmare, how Glimmer had looked at her when she blamed She Ra for failing to save her mother. A part of Adora always blamed herself for Angella's absence, knew that if she had gone for the Sword of Protection, the leader of the Rebellion would have been with them, a calming and reasonable voice for the Princess Alliance. But hearing it out loud from Glimmer had broken down several walls that Adora had built to keep from breaking her sword herself.
"I'm sorry," Glimmer said, her voice wavering. Adora turned to look at her best friend. Glimmer covered her face with her hands. "Ugh, I hate this. I hate this!"
"Glimmer, I- " Adora began but Glimmer put her hands away, exposing two pink eyes, and went on.
"Adora, I've never regretted saying anything as much as I do telling you that. You didn't fail to save my mother. I did. If Shadow Weaver and I hadn't toyed with Catra, we'd have reached the portal machine on time. All of this," she gestured around her to the entire hideout where every remaining Rebellion fighter slept, "is my fault. The portal, the Heart of Etheria, Horde Prime... I'm sorry."
She choked out a sob. Adora placed both of her hands on her shoulders, forcing her to face her. "Glimmer, it's okay. It's okay. It's my fault too. I let Angella go instead of me. I left you alone when we headed for Beast Island even though I should've been there for you."
"If you had not let my mother go, I'd have lost you, Adora," Glimmer said, sniffling. "The Rebellion would have lost its best soldier. We'd have been lost without you. I," she squeezed Adora's hand, "would've been lost without you."
Adora wordlessly pulled Glimmer towards her, wrapping her arms around her friend. Glimmer hugged her back, tightening the embrace.
Perhaps, Adora thought, this is what Catra meant.

Promptly ignoring several assignment deadlines, I bring you:
@spop-palentines 's
Day 24: Teams and Alliances
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
TITLE: IN THE NAME OF THE REBELLION
"You coming?"
Start hesitated, looking at her sister's outstretched hand. She didn't know what to say. It'd been years since she last smelled her home.
"Not really," she said, recoiling. Glory screeched sadly on her shoulders. She turned to look at the magical owl, who was easier to face than the expected impatience in Tallstar's face and spoke, "I want to be ready. I want to go home. But I... I'm scared."
"It's okay," Jewelstar said, coming up from behind having turned off the ship. "We're all a little afraid. But we promised we'd fight for our planet, our home. We're in this together."
He placed a comforting hand on his little sister's shoulder. Glory gave a squawk of approval and gently nipped at Starla's ear. She looked affectionately at her brother and took Tallstar's hand.
They'd landed on the outskirts of their village, right outside the woods. They'd expected to find it secluded except for the tall, camouflaging trees, the slippery insects slithering about, the occasional wild predators that Glory would signal to them about. But the forest grounds looked devastated and withered. Long green pipes ran the entire ground forming a labyrinth for the non-existent insects. There was not a squeak, nor a wail, no distant snarling of predators. Glory's mood seemed affected by the forest's disdain and wouldn't light up in the darkness.
"Where is everybody?" Jewelstar wondered aloud.
"Are we too late?" Tallstar said, her voice wavering.
Starla didn't speak. Her attention was on Glory who sat perched on her shoulder, her feathers drooping, her head bent low.
"Maybe we'll find them in the village," Jewelstar suggested. But Starla knew her people. They loved the open moonlights, the soft-blue light cast down through the canopy of leaves. The children carried their sleeping bags on the edge of the forest and lie down counting stars till they fall asleep. She used to be one of them, passing out under the little twinkling lights every summer night.
But it couldn't hurt to check.
"Let's go, then," she said, softly, for the sake of a sleeping Glory.
"Wait."
Tallstar stepped into the woods. Starla and Jewelstar watched in confusion as she trudged on and followed once she began to get swallowed by the darkness. Glory, still fast asleep, did not offer any light.
The siblings went on ahead, unpleasantly amazed at the silence of the woods except for the chirping of a few night insects occasionally heightening over the dim but not going on for long. Starla followed Tallstar from behind while Jewelstar brought up the rear, turning his head in every direction for his good eye to get a better look.
Tallstar stopped in the middle of nowhere. She raised her mechanical arm and extended it to reach the canopy high above. A little rustle and a burst of bright moon light escaped into the clearing where Tallstar stood, gazing up with satisfaction. The moon itself was not visible but it's beam could brighten up an entire corridor of Horde Prime's ship.
"Remember what they used to say?" Tallstar said, withdrawing her arm.
"Look for the brightest moon beam under the leaves," Jewelstar answered, quietly.
Finally, Starla remembered their elders story. Horde Prime wasn't the first to attack their home. Every time, the people escaped to this secluded spot within the woods where they'd form an alliance and rebel against their oppressors. But Starla thought it was all fictitious since she could never imagine anyone hurting their planet.
"It's that tree," Jewelstar said, standing beside Tallstar. Glory snorted a little. Starla walked ahead and stood beside her siblings, right under the moon light, bathing Glory in the brightness. She woke up with a tiny hoot, vigorously shook her head and sent a tremble down her tail through her feathers. With a joyous screech, she lighted up and flew overhead, circling the canopy that surrounded the moon light.
"Let's go," Tallstar said and stepped closer to the giant tree with the big hollow, big enough to fit in a sizeable predator, enveloping an infinite darkness. Glory flew down and sat on the edge of the hole, screeching in beckoning.
"I'll go first," Tallstar said. Glory hooted in agreement and flew inside. Starla's heard lurched a bit inside her ribcage now that her companion had been swallowed by apparent nothingness.
Starla followed her sister. Once inside, she felt an incline in front of her. "Slide down!" Tallstar's voice echoed from somewhere below.
And so she did.
Glory didn't need to glow bright any longer. Starla had landed in a vast underground cave, nearly the size of the mine they'd been stranded in in search for Thulite, that comprised of less than fifty of her people, scattered about in all the corners, all snuggling close to someone. A bonfire cackled in the middle. Children drew with sticks on the muddy floor. Everyone seemed peacefully but miserable.
"The Star Siblings," and elderly woman said, walking close towards them. "You've come at last."
Starla brushed the dust off her clothes as she stood up, but was once again showered with more as her brother landed behind her.
"What happened here?" Tallstar inquired, her eyes scanning the population. Starla knew what she was going to ask next and she feared to know the answer. "Are they all that's left?"
"Its been years, my child," the old woman answered with an quivering voice. "Wouldn't you be more surprised that even these survived?"
Jewelstar had walked up to stand beside their sister. "We're here to help," he said, resting a hand on Tallstar's shoulder. "We're here to fight for our home."
"And where were you when the fight had dissipated within our people?"
Jewelstar began to reply but Starla interjected. She strode forward and planted herself in front of her siblings. "Yes, we escaped," she said, her voice surprisingly steady."But so did so many others. We came back to fight the Horde. We know what makes Prime weak."
She'd the attention of the entire cave now. They looked at her, some pitiful, some intrigued, most sympathetic. She knew what they were thinking. This was the exact way she and her siblings greeted the Etherians. She knew the feeling of hopelessness and the yearning for all of this to end, the only light in the moments brought by the company of her brother and sister.
"Look, we have been to numerous planets, most of them overtaken by the Horde," she went on. Glory comfortingly perched on her shoulder. "And we thought it was hopeless too. That we'd never stand a chance against the Armada. But we also met with people who gave us hope. Horde Prime doesn't like resistance. He'll do anything to quench it. But what he doesn't know is his Armada of deadpan clones can face only much. They've no wit or mind. We can overtake them!"
"And did you think we never tried?" one of the youths snarled at her. "Do you think we gave up without a fight? Not all of us escaped to find an alternate home. We stayed behind and fought back. Look what that got us!" They gestured around them, at the ghostly faces of the only people left on the planet.
"But we cannot give up," Jewelstar said, coming forward. Glory squawked and shook her wings. "We have to keep fighting. It's the only way."
"My dearies," the old lady once again spoke, "the people are tired. They have lost hope. Unless you can give them that, they'll not fight back."
Starla buried herself behind her brother's shoulder to conceal her watery eyes. She didn't know what she'd expected. Did she think that the people she'd left behind would rally behind them to fight a lost cause?
"There's not much you can do, darlings," the old lady continued. "If you seek my advice, I'd tell you to remain here. In safety."
"No," Starla growled, hot tears streaming down her face. "No, we spent years stranded on a planet. I'm not going to sit and wait for the end anymore."
She rushed out of the cave, climbing up the slide through which she came down. Glory lit up the hollow passage. She heard her siblings calling out to her, but she kept on climbing till she felt the ledge of the hollow. Glory waited outside, still glowing.
"Starla, get back here!" Tallstar cried out.
Starla pushed her leg over the ledge and climbed out, bathing herself in the moonlight, the stars above the canopy blurred for the endless crocodile tears that seemed to overflow out of her eyes.
Glory screeched nervously and flapped her wings in panic. Starla sunk to her knees and let the pain of failure overwhelm her. She sobbed relentlessly while Glory kept screeching warning.
Tallstar fumed at her brother for not letting her follow their sister. Now, as she held Starla's knives in her hands and watched a panicked Glory screeching and circling above them, she couldn't imagine any worse possible punishment for Jewelstar than the one he was receiving now.
"I am such an idiot," he growled, smacking his head against a branch. "How could I have let her be alone?"
"Yes, you're an idiot, but what can we accomplish by beating ourselves up, right now?" Tallstar challenged. "We need to go find her."
"How will we do that?" Jewelstar roared, punching his fist against a tree bark. "We don't know anything about the Horde or their ships, or if she- if she's even alive!"
As much as Tallstar feared so herself, she wouldn't let it show. "We'll get her back Jewel," she said, soothingly. "I promise. Even if we have to burn every ship of the Armada to smoke her out."
"We might have an idea where she might be."
The siblings looked up. It was the same youth who'd snapped at Starla earlier. Tallstar got a clear look at him. He seemed about the same age as Starla, sappy green hair in a tangled mess, scratches covering his arms, each an incomplete arc. His face was pleasantly dark, the colour of firewood, and several piercings sprouted from his ears and lips, a particularly large one on his chin.
"The giant Spire, that was the beginning of their conquest," he continued. "Its the most heavily guarded region. You wouldn't be able to step foot in the vicinity before getting vaporized"
"Well, we have to try," Tallstar said. "We will not leave her alone. Jewel, get your axe."
"Wait!"
Tallstar jumped at the collective command and turned to the tree hollow. Every single person, elders and youths and children, had climbed out, looking determined.
"We'll come with you," another young girl said. She was the one snuggling close to the boy with the piercings. "We know a few tricks to distract them, handy when we steal their rations. Besides, we won't leave one of us behind."
Tallstar received agreeing nods from the rest of the people. This was exactly what Starla had hoped for.
"Thank you," she said, softly. "Thank you so much."
Jewelstar raised his axe above his head. "In the name of the Rebellion!" he called.
After a brief hesitancy, the others raised their fists or weapons and echoed his call.

Day 28 of @spop-palentines: What If? Here’s the synopsis of a fanfiction idea that I’ve been threatening to write for months, but haven’t gotten around to and probably never will. Basically I just wanted more time for Adora and Entrapta to bond:
Tumblr media
Young Entrapta was clearly already really into science since she presumably built herself robot parents. One day she’s working on her latest experiments and picks up on a weird reading.
Accompanied by one of her robot parents, she goes to investigate and finds a baby. She’s very disappointed and tries to decide what to do, leaning heavily on leaving the baby in the nearest village, but one of her devices registers portal energy on the baby and now she’s fascinated.
She takes baby Adora home and has the robots raise her as her sibling. When she’s old enough, Adora is roped into becoming her lab assistant and although Adora’s enthusiastic to help, she ends up being clumsy and ruining several experiments; has no interest in the science; and clearly has too much energy to just be standing around passing Entrapta test tubes.
Aware that Adora loves reading about the knights in her story books, Entrapta builds her a training robot and when Adora is old enough and good enough at fighting, Entrapta starts sending her out in search of First One’s tech, which leads to her meeting various other characters.
Eventually Glimmer and Bow come to Dryl to recruit Entrapta and Adora decides to join them.

SPOP Friendship Shorts
Did you know that I have a a bunch of short fics and drabbles all collected into a single fic called SPOP Friendship Shorts? They are cute and fluffy and funny and you can find them on AO3 here.
Here's what's in the collection so far (but I update it whenever I have something new to post):
Meetings and Beginnings: Not-yet-General Juliet’s first day on the job.
Mom Friends and Bad Influences: Little Bow tries to talk Glimmer out of a terrible idea.
Relatives: Angella and Castaspella have an awkward tea and the sister-in-laws find common ground in the fact that their love for “that boy” only extends so far
FREE DAY: Jokes and Pranks: Catra gets her own transformation sequence.
Enemies and Rivals: Years after the fall of Prime, Adora gets a note that fills her with panic.
Chaotic Dynamic: Entrapta helps Sea Hawk in the kitchen with explosive results.
Unlikely Buddies: Mermista and Scorpia practice because a good detective knows a MURDER could happen at any time.
Fractured Friendships: Hard Feelings (Catra and Double Trouble reunite)
Sidekicks & Supportive Buddies: Swift Wind and Melog bond. Maybe.
Post Canon Potential: Catra harasses Bow about his lack of PDA with Glimmer.
Quads & Squads:A princess alliance meeting gets derailed as they try to establish who, exactly, is in the Best Friend Squad.
Work Friends: A few months after Queen Angella disappeared into the portal, General Juliet reflects on her years at Bright Moon.
What if?: Horde Prime vs Shadow Weaver (Canon Divergence AU)
Teams and Alliances: Mermista and Spinnerella combine forces to make a SHARKNADO!
Crack (Friend)ships: It’s Swift Wind’s turn to host the monthly meeting of the Society of Comic Sidekicks That Some People Think Are Annoying But Are Just Doing Their Best and that goes about as well as you might expect.
My Other SPOP Palentines fics: A masterpost of SPOP Palentines fics I wrote that are not in this collection.
Alone: Juliet delivers Angella the news of Micah's final battle.
Murder!: Winning tonight's murder mystery game won't be as easy as Mermista thinks it will be
The Bot and The Winter's Bane: Frosta and Emily have a chat while everyone else is busy being boring and mushy at a ball.
Marinate: Glimmer and Wrong Hordak (Kadroh) are supposed to be cooking dinner for Micah's welcome back dinner cruise when a sea monster attacks.
An Embarrassing Display of Affection: Double Trouble disguises themselves to sneak into a princess event to check up on their kitten and all those other do-gooders they absolutely don't care about at all, obviously!
Wrong Hordaks: Catra is surprised that Entrapta convinced Hordak to come to her Halloween party.
The Queen: Micah has momentarily forgets who "the queen" is now.
Enough: The Best Friend Squad arrives too late to save a village from the Horde and Glimmer feels like it's all her fault for not being powerful enough.
(This fic was formerly titled SPOP Palentines bc it was created for the @spop-palentines event but apparently that title was confusing to the youths so I renamed it something more obvious.)

SPOP Palentines 2022 Masterpost!
I wrote a little something for (almost) every day of @spop-palentines! You can find all of the drabbles collected in my SPOP Friendship Shorts collection starting from Chapter 26.
Then I wrote four longer one shots for this month...
The Line - Catra's POV after kidnapping Glimmer and Bow at Princess Prom and realizing she's crossing a line
Common Ground - Mermista bonds with Queen Angella over memories of her mother
Secrets and Siblings - Bow and Catra are brother and sister in my Horde!Glimmer AU
Having Kittens - Adora is dying to to know if Glimmer's actually pregnant or not and Catra tries to figure out what her wife's baby mania means for the two of them and their future while Bow sets some boundaries.
And two meta posts...
The Other Princesses were in on Glimmer's plan to activate the Heart of Etheria
Glimmer and Adora's friendship was a complicated mess
As well as a big write-up of all my OC Bow siblings
(I have things for the two days I missed but I'm not sure when I'll have time to finish / post them, esp because I am disorganized and accidentally posted two things for some days.)
Now... I sleeps.

And so @spop-palentines month begins!
Read on AO3 here
Adora’s hand clasped Glimmer’s. They stood on a precipice, both metaphorical and literal, and neither looked at the other as they stared out over the purplish sunset, birds with fish-like frills flying idly over the trees that stretched out below them.
“I promised your mother I’d watch out for you,” Adora said softly. “No matter what, I promised I would.”
Glimmer’s thumb ran over the back of Adora’s hand. “And me?”
Adora turned to her, and Glimmer glanced back, “Shouldn’t I watch out for you, too?”
“Glimmer…”
She turned fully and grasped both Adora’s hands in her own. “I promise.”

Best friends quad orientation
This is my little drabble for the seven-teenth day promt of the SPOP Palentine's month - Quads and Squads - organized by the good people at @spop-palentines. Enjoy!
"So, if I'm going to be part of your little dork troupe..."
"Friendship Quad!" Bow helpfully interjected. Catra rolled her eyes.
"Yeah, I'm not calling it that. But anyway, I need to get a feeling for how you do things. Fighting you it seemed like mostly you just spotted a problem..."
"ROBOT!!!" Glimmer said, poofing into existance and pointing at the door to outside the spaceship.
"ROBOT?!!" Bow cried, starting to run around in cirkles, pushing buttons.
"ROBOT!!!" adora cried and drew her sword.
"...and then you just rushed in..."
"FOR THE HONOR OF GRAYSKULL!"
"NOT FAIR, SAVE SOME FOR ME! *poof*"
"I'LL SAVE YOU!"
"...and tried to solve the problem with maximum violence and confusion."
"EAT SWORD!"
"EAT SPARKLES!"
"EAT GLUE ARROW!"
"...and then, when you idiots have messed up beyond any possible repair you like... hug? or... do a friendship spiel or... something, and somehow that fixes everything?"
"GLIMMER, ADORA, REMEMBER ALL YOUR HAPPY FRIENDSHIP MOMENTS TOGETHER!!!"
"YOU ARE RIGHT, BOW."
"LET'S TAKE THIS THING - TOGETHER!"
"...so my question is - where do I fit in all this?"
Catra looked up and realized she was alone in the spaceship. With an angry grunt she kicked open the door, stepped up to the giant robot and flicked the off-switch. It immediatley froze. The rest of the Best Friends Quad looked at it and Catra in stunned silence.
"HEY, ARROW-BOY. I'M TALKING TO YOU! WHAT DO I BRING TO THE TABLE IN THIS GROUP?"
Bow looked up from where he had somehow managed to entagle in his own net arrow.
"Um... we might have an opening in the 'smart & sarcastic' department?"
Catra mulled it over.
"Yeah, I can do that. But I want to make one thing perfectly clear."
"FRIENDSHIP QUAD, FRIENDSHIP QUAD, FRIENDSHIP QUAD!"
"I DON'T DO HUGS!"
(she did).
