The extraordinary sportswoman, motorist, fencer, weightlifter, jiu jitsu champion and international tennis player, May 'Toupie' Lowther (1874-1944), organised her own team of women ambulance drivers – the Hackett-Lowther Ambulance Unit – and took 20 cars and 30 women to France.
The British army did not use the all-women ambulances, who attached instead to the French Third Army for nearly three years of wartime service. Lowther was awarded the French military medal, the Croix de Guerre, for her service.

I'm so tired of warrior/sports women being portrayed by female actors who look like they've barely eaten 2 meals in their lives. Yes, thin people can be strong; no, the thin portrayed on films is not natural. This is not hate against those actresses by the way. They're victims of the system and brainwashing too and so many suffer from eating disorders as a result.
This needs to change.
Where's the big muscled women or at least women with normal arms and stomachs? Where's the fat and the weight? Where's the waist and the body hair? We don't want hourglass figures which are unfortunately being pushed even by some gym going women these day. We want to see how warriors and sports women or even everyday women actually look like! All aspects of our bodies are wonderful and it's high time we embraced them.
