She is in the middle and looking down slightly, a bramble tendril in her teeth that’s wrapped around her neck with another trying to squeeze her even more. What kind of namer would you want Squirrelstar to be? I think you had her suggest Finchlight’s name which suggests she’s a GOOD namer, but what KIND of good namer would you want her to be ideally? Obviously it’s up to the Erins to some extent, but there’s always some flexibility in terms of framing!

If I was in charge of her names from here on out, she would make a serious effort to be very reverent of legacies being passed down through families while also acknowledging personal achievements. ThunderClan is currently in an era where it's REALLY missing Firestar, and trying to "reconnect" to that.

So Firekin is seeing a lot of heat and flame related names by default, Fernkin are looking at plant or cloud related ones. Most of these would be basic but meaningful, since apprentices don't tend to get into as much as they used to.

So for example, if Fernkit (canon: graykit) was just earning a pretty basic warrior name, he might just become Fernpuff (Fern-Fatcloud as opposed to Fern-Fastcloud like his namesake). But if he becomes a notable hunter, she would rather give him a name like Fernhawk, still sky-related but more focused on his hunting prowess.

Meanwhile, she's REALLY generous with the Honor Titles since Bramblestar was equally stingy. Stormcloud's finally getting Monsterscar like he's always wanted, if he can just find a big thing to do to justify it. If desired, she'd offer a title to Poppyfrost for creating the garden, to finally acknowledge her contribution. We'd see a return of names that reference scars and achievements.

SO I'm going to be trying to frame them in that way.

born after hollyleaf's disappearance, they are named by their father to shame their mother - the cause of her childhood friend’s death, and the worst side of fire - then ignored. their grandparents stepped in, but the pair were ostracized by most of the clan. their sister returning was quite possibly the best thing to happen, as holly shamed their father into trying to be a parent...far too late.

anyways I'm renaming Breezepelt to Hop(???) (I don't like the name Hoppelt so I'm stiiiiil thinkin...) (Might also change Lions name but idk) Jayf Holly and Hop still have a very similar relationship to canon, though it is a bit more... complicated? Crow did an Oakheart and gave Hopkit to Nightcloud who was mourning her recent litter (rip two unnamed kits) he claimed to have just found it by the horseplace but everyone kinda knew it was his even though he didn't claim him. Later as an apprentice/warrior he grows resentful of Crowfeather refusing to acknowledge him as his son, causing him to train in the dark forest like in canon. Jayf and Hop develop a strong rivalry in the DF, both being trained by Brokenstar, who encourages a violent rivalry between the two.

I feel like if Leafpool and Squirrelflight were sent on that quest together instead of Brambleclaw and Squirrelflight a lot of the narrative issues surrounding their relationships with other characters would be fixed

For one, Leafpool would be given a lot more screen time with Crowfeather, so it wouldn’t feel so weird and sudden that they got together and why they both seemed to care so much about what seemed to be just a fling and nothing else.

Squirrelflight wouldn’t have to deal with bramble and the really strange relationship with them could be kept to a minimum, also just having a medicine cat would have been really helpful on that mission. Also just more Squilf and leaf being together??? We don’t really get to see them bond a lot when it isn’t the really important plot points (tm) and I really think they would have carried the story better.

We need a perspective in ThunderClan? Keep bramble, sure I hate reading about him but if we really need someone keeping an eye on ThunderClan I feel like Brambleclaw would be a good perspective. Not only would he be away from Squirrelflight (the best option 😒) but we’d also get to see him mesh with characters like Hawkfrost. Maybe we could go in depth about their arcs better? Perhaps? Please.

Also replace stormfur with Mothwing on the quest cough but that isn’t as important I just think stormfur is boring-

I’ve decided I like Brambleclaw now. In a blatantly OOC AU driven narrative where he becomes a medicine cat as he can’t stomach the thought of causing harm to another cat after seeing all the suffering his father put the clans through. Also he is called Brambleflower, after his amazing mother of course, and he is openly gay - this is mandatory. He had a close relationship with Stormfur before they sadly split up due to Bramble feeling pressured by the code, as he didn’t want Storm to go through any similar treatment to the horrors he went through under Tigerstar’s reign of terror if they were discovered - no matter how unlikely this may be, Bramble still cares too much about Storm to risk it. He also acts as a supportive big brother figure to Squilf rather than… whatever the creepy fuck he was in canon. In fact the only time Brambleflower loses his naturally warm and tender attitude is when he discovers how much of a stalker Ash is being to his little sis (who either gets with Shrew or secretly visits Crow, I haven’t decided yet, either way she’s happy and that’s all that matters) after this he makes sure to make the Tom’s recovery as painful as possible whenever he’s in the medicine den (‘accidentally’ rubbing salt water over Ash’s wounds whenever he dresses them).

This is the only Brambleclaw I will accept, all canon figurations of him will promptly be thrown out and the police will be called if they try to return.

Have some very yummy tasty designs for a WC AU me and my friend made together and are now making a MAP for.

Au below cut

the AU is one where BrambleStar is more manipulative and self-instrested, and Squirrelflight and Tawnypelt are a lot closer because of the time they spent on the journey together.

The journey ends, they make it to the lake, Bramble shows a few red flags but Squilf just brushes them off. Eventually Bramble does kill firestar, but then turns it aorudn and blames the whole thing on Hawk. Nobody believing that a guy as good as Bramble would do that. As soon as he becomes leader and has complete control he starts becoming physically abusive towards squilf.

Eventually she’s had enough of his shit and tells Bramble that this is it- it’s cat divorce time. Bramble does NOT like that and injures her badly enough that she’s confined to the medicine den. As soon as TawnyPelt gets word of this she makes the trip to Thunderclan to support her friend. The two of them talk and realize Bramble will keep doing this to Squilf as long as she’s still alive. So, Tawny and Squilf decide, BrambleStar has to die.

Squirrelflight lures Bramble into an empty part of the territory far from the border at night where tawny is waiting. They ambush him and together are able to kill him. They drag the body to some cliffs and toss it into the lake so he can’t be found. Then pretty much Squirrelflight becomes leader and Tawny decided to stay in Thunderclan to support her.

Then from there wether or not Tawny and Squilf are gay or just close friends is entirely up to you. Idrm either way :3
