Putting a fan theory here for posterity’s sake, but....

...I wonder if the Switch 2 might be released next year? It’ll be about 6 years since the first one came out (as of March of 2023), and I don’t know. Nintendo has been keeping a lot under wraps--but then, that doesn’t necessarily mean anything.

What we DO know is that the new Zelda game is coming out in May, and it’s a big, expansive game that’s the sequel to Breath of the Wild. Breath of the Wild was considered a “main” Zelda title, and it looks like Tears of the Kingdom will be too..and each generation of consoles since the N64 has one “main” Zelda title on it (Ocarina of Time, The Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, Breath of the Wild). (Sidenote, note that Wii U doesn’t have its own Zelda game like this. And while we’re on the subject of the Wii U, I hope the next console also lets you download the Netflix app too, that would be pretty cool). I don’t know. Apparently some people are theorizing that it might be released sooner than we think, and for example they were talking about how Nintendo was spending a lot more on raw materials. An article The Nikkei has said in that they won’t release a new console in the fiscal year that ends in March 2023 (although it’s not clear if the journalist was asserting that, or if Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa said that himself). Either way, I can totally see them going for a November/December 2023 release. Consoles sell better in the holiday season--especially since Sony and Microsoft are definitely not releasing main consoles this winter--and this makes sense for Nintendo especially, since a lot of content is aimed at kids, who are going to want new games to play at Christmas. This is just me rambling, naturally--but I’m putting out there, in case I’m right. And if I’m right, if there IS a new Nintendo console release in winter of next year...then I would expect a new Smash game too. Especially since that would make 5 years since SSBU launched, and Nintendo has said that there will be no new DLC Smash characters, with the last one release in October of last year. I guess what I’m saying is...well, for me this is a possibility. And it’s nice to be right on fan theories, so I’m putting this out there for posterity’s sake. I guess only time well tell :)

ToTK (minor spoilers, only early-game. I won’t spoil much for the story after the first area, but I will mention some locations and characters, though only a few. But I MUST express my gratitude and appreciation for this wonderful work of art online).

You’ve been warned. Continue at your own risk. (I haven’t even finished the game’s story so I can’t possibly spoil any of that).

Anyway, I’m absolutely blown away by the sheer scope of this game already. Like, not only are there the sky islands, but the Depths?? They didn’t mention this ONCE before the game released, as far as I can tell, and I loved how it caught me completely off guard!! That area is petrifying, and trying to navigate a pitch-black void with only a handful of lights, pins, and whatever machine you can cobble together is so much fun, that’s been one of my favorite areas of the game already and I’ve barely scratched the surface. And the Frox jump scared me so bad, I leapt into a pit and it just SOARED and ate me in a single bite…

Also, the return of the Yiga Clan throughout the land is everything I hoped for. They don’t ambush anymore along the roads, which I appreciate, but they still set all sorts of traps for Link and have secret bases all over the map. There was one location in particular I visited, which I won’t say the name of here, that had me both sentimental and laughing hysterically. And another few that were completely different than how I imagined them in the best way possible.

Next, I’ve absolutely adored seeing the characters. Both returning characters from BoTW and new additions, they’re all wonderful and just as real in this game as they did in BoTW, not to mention that I think the character designs and dialogue is even better. It was so fun running into people I recognized from the first game and having them recognize me in turn. And seeing how different areas have changed after the Upheaval is equally jaw-dropping.

Speaking of jaw-dropping, I’m loving what I’m seeing of the story so far. It feels much more satisfying than BotW’s memories did, and feels like it carries more emotional weight (even though I did like the BoTW memories). They just seem much more substantial, I love it. And Zelda’s new design is killer, absolutely my favorite look Zelda has ever had. SSBU Zelda is a close second. And Link’s new outfits, or those I’ve found so far, are so unique and different! They’re a completely new style, and as something of a Hyrulean fashionista, I can’t get enough of it. The amount of time and money I’m gonna spend in the dye shop will be astronomical, especially with the new paragliding feature.

But, by far, my favorite part so far is diving and gliding around the sky islands. It just feels and looks oh so cool. And devising a Totally Trustworthy Contraption to navigate is really fun. Ascend and Ultrahand have so much potential, I can’t wait to make some wacky devices. And fusing weapons is exactly the spark that BoTW’s weapon durability system was missing, it feels immensely rewarding to kill a strong monster and use its horn to take down the next foe, or create a club to break ore and rock, or a long spear to poke Like Like’s from a safe distance. There’s just so much to do in this world, and I am fully immersed.

Anyway, that’s all from me. I hope nothing I wrote was too much for you, and I sincerely apologize if I mentioned something you didn’t want to hear about. But I put out a warning to the best of my ability.

To any of the team who worked on ToTK, I hope some of you see this. You did an amazing job and your hard work absolutely shows in the finished product, it’s immaculate to a BotW fan such as myself.

DLC when?? DLC when?? I have pockets that are not, as of yet, drained of cash.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate - Who Fucks and Who Doesn’t Edition (SPOILERS!)

Spoilers for certain games under the cut. But I’m going over who in the SSBU roster has canonically had sex and who hasn’t.

Olimar, Chrom, and Ken are (or in the latter’s case, was) family men, meaning they canonically fuck.

In Tekken lore, Kazuya also has fucked, as Jin’s existence is proof enough. Though considering Kazuya and Jun Kazama’s relationship, it was likely a one-night stand at best.

Pyra and Mythra are shown to be mothers in a spoiler-heavy image of Xenoblade Chronicles 3.

The Yoshi’s Island series as well as a cutscene in Ms. Pac-Man shows that in the Marioverse (Mario, Donkey Kong, Yoshi, Wario) and the Pac-Man universe, reproduction is done by stork delivery. Thus, fucking is not necessary. Bowser and Pac-Man still have kids though.

Depending on whether or not people see Banjo-Kazooie existing in the same universe as Mario considering Banjo’s debut in Diddy Kong Racing, the above rule could also apply to the Banjo-Kazooie series.

All of the playable Pokémon except Mewtwo, Pichu, Battle Bond Greninja, and Pikachu Libre can reproduce in a Day Care or Nursery.

Robin, Lucina, Corrin, Byleth, and Fox of the 64 through Command continuity fuck depending on which choices and routes the player takes. For the former three, their children can be recruited as playable units. Byleth and Command!Fox need to get certain endings in their respective games and the kids are NPCs.

The generations-spanning timeline of the Zelda, Fire Emblem, and Castlevania games means that Zelda (both Downfall and Time/Sheik), Marth, and the Belmonts eventually fuck offscreen in-between games to continue their respective bloodlines.

Erdrick also belongs in the above category, but him revealed to be the ancestor of the Heroes from the first two Dragon Quest games was meant to be a huge twist in his own game.

Ike and the various Links are an ambiguous case. Priam in Awakening is implied to be Ike’s descendent, but could also just be descended from Mist. As for the Links, while the games give lots of ship tease moments between Link and various women, the only reason the Heroes of Hyrule are an ambiguous case is that no game within the timelines outright states that Link had kids.

In Bayonetta 3, Viola is Bayonetta’s kid from another dimension.
