Spock was an incredibly talkative baby. Like, nearly from the day he was born. He cried as a newborn-- something most Vulcan children didn't do, something that Amanda was secretly quite pleased by as it was her own, personal little sign that he had inherited some of her humanity afterall. All through his toddlerhood he'd babbled constantly, and Sarek would nod pensively as if these discussions were quite insightful. "Indeed, Spock, that is quite true," he would confirm stiffly as his son would squeal and babble. "Exceedingly logical, my son." Amanda found these exchanges endlessly entertaining.
At times, Sybok, Michael, Amanda, and Sarek would all sit quietly and watch as little Spock stumbled about their living room, rambling in his own unknown language as he explored around the room.
He quieted down, eventually, as all Vulcan children are taught to, something that silently broke his mother's heart, but Amanda will never deny an opportunity to show what few holograms she managed to capture of that phase-- much to McCoy's delight and Spock's mortification.

Steve is a super supportive boyfriend and he follows Eddie around to all the bars that corroded coffin plays in, which happen to be pretty gay friendly. Steve ends up meeting a lot of drag queens, he’s so constantly complimented for his beautiful face and perfect bone structure and plump lips that one day he takes up a queens offer and gets fully done up in drag.
He decides on the name Demi Gorgon as an inside joke with his friends and other nerds who got the reference. It’s very exhilarating for him to spend one night being a completely different person and put on a performance he would’ve been scolded for back when he was a boy. He dreamed of a day when he’d get to dance to Madonna and lip sync to the words without judgement and now he has it.
Eddie thinks it’s awesome, he cheers Steve on and gets to be the supportive boyfriend instead for the night. But it’s not the last time they see Demi, Steve ends up buying makeup and learning a thing or two from a queen he befriended, they get him some preforming outfits and wigs and she teaches him how to glue it down good so it doesn’t go flying while he’s dancing. He learns how to walk in heels and spends a lot of time hand gluing individual rhinestones onto thrifted pumps in size 12. It’s an outlet for him that he never knew he needed until he was in deep and having the time of his fucking life.

Maybe it's just the jock in me, but I think about Steddie going to the gym soooo much. For a lot of different reasons lmao. Part of it is that I think it's a great place for Eddie to thirst and be confused at how homoerotic so many of the rituals around the gym are, but also because there's a lot of humor in Eddie going to the gym.
He has a lot of energy, and we know he has some muscle, likely just from day to day activity, mechanics, band equipment, etc. He seems like he would enjoy being outdoors, and hiking or exploring. Something that is a work out but doesn't feel like one if you do it right. Despite all that, he absolutely has the vibe of someone who hated gym class (which, same), and probably would claim to hate working out/doing physical activity.
I just know that when Steve finally convinces him to go to the gym with him, Eddie would be SO MAD at how much he loves it and how great it makes him feel. He is absolutely that post that is like "you mean regular exercise is good for you and makes you feel good???? is good for your mental health??"
He feels lied to, he feels cheated. Maybe he should've expected this, now that he's dating a jock, but he thought that his jock was an exception. He hates jocks. What is happening to him.
Of course part of it is just that it's not gym class, which is not good at catering to any demographic other than "generally athletic and doing a school sport". Another part is that Steve is very big on making sure he doesn't hurt himself, and making sure that why he lifts and shit are at the level he is actually at. Steve would not allow him to overwork himself. He likes that he looks after him and likes that they are able to do something together that aligns with Steve's interests and not the nerd herd's.
It becomes a great way for them to spend time together in public, and it's extra fun when Robin comes along, or when they manage convince one of the others to join them.
The funniest part would be how much his friends would heckle him for it though. It's all affectionate, but Gareth every practice makes a joke about how he knows how Luke Skywalker feels, now that his "father" has betrayed him. Lucas is smug every time he shows up for a session with Steve, and Eddie is there too. it takes a lot for Eddie to remind himself he can't fight a toddler.
(He refuses to admit that he knows Lucas would win.)
The worst though, as @starsvs brought up, is that Steve would look at Eddie, who loves the outdoors, is good at staying hydrated for dnd/the band, and is now working out regularly? And go "babe I think you're a jock now" and Eddie would lose. his. shit.
Eddie genuinely takes a moment to consider if this is what is going to cause him to dump his boyfriend, because he better take that slander back right the fuck now. Eddie? A jock? The very antithesis of everything he stands for? The sheer dramatics that statement causes is enough to keep Steve laughing for weeks. Eddie would grumble and bitch for days, laying on the floor complaining about him!! being called a jock!!! Wayne is just calmly sipping his coffee and watching his boy go on and on, because its certainly more entertaining than anything on day time tv.

I was inspired by a great post about Nancy from @luthientinuvielss and it got me thinking about AIDS Activist Nancy Wheeler.
I've mentioned before how I headcanon Byler attending protests/joining ACT UP in the 90's after they get out of Hawkins.
But what if Nancy also became an activist in her own way?
As the post succinctly put it, Nancy is a truth-seeker who stands against injustice. She strives to be an advocate for the voiceless, the powerless and marginalized because she knows what it's like to be unheard.
I can't imagine that she would see all the deaths in the gay community (her brother and Will's community, in fact) being dismissed and forgotten and remain unfazed. She would be furious!!
Imagine her getting the scoop on the latest facts and myths about the disease, determined to shed light on the epidemic.
Interviewing the medical community and patients, breaking down the stigma surrounding the disease.
Investigating and doing exposés on politicians that stonewalled efforts to find a cure.
I can totally see her getting behind a cause like that. Plus, it could rebuild the Wheeler sibling bond, since she and Mike could find common ground on their shared passion for justice.

Thinking about how Robin would pick up Nancy and she would protest telling her to put her down immediately only for Robin to go “What, fear of heights Nance?” But really it’s only because Robin’s so fucking clumsy. Like as soon as she sets her down she trips.

Joyce had never been more tired than she was at this moment. It was in every one of her bones, stuck deep into her soul, and it felt like it would never go away now. She wanted to wrap herself up in a dozen blankets and never resurface, become a female Rip Van Winkle. Maybe slip into her bed and cry for a little while over Bob. Sweet, kind, gentle Bob, who would still be alive if he had never gotten mixed up with her.
But she couldn’t fall apart over that just yet. There was still one more kid she needed to take care of tonight.
“Hi sweetheart,” Joyce said softly, squatting next to where the boy was slumped down on her couch. The kids were all clustered up around him, fast asleep. They had been like this when she and her sons had returned, and Will had quickly found his place in their pile, tightly pushed next to Mike and El and falling asleep in an instant. Only one was left awake.
“Hi Mrs. Byers,” Steve murmured back, barely opening his eyes. Dustin snuffled impossibly closer as Steve shifted to somewhat sit up, curling up against his ribs and sighing. Steve idly played with the younger boy’s hair, clearly completely out of it. She had no idea where he had gotten all of these injuries, but it was too late to ask about that now. Steve blinked slowly at her and sighed
“‘M sorry. Fell sleep. Meant t’stay up,”
“That’s fine,” She cooed, pushing any exhaustion lingering in her bones back. Will was taken care of, Jonathan was in his own bed with Nancy, but there was still a child in front of her that needed her. She could focus on him, and not on the grief that was waiting patiently at the back of her mind. She needed to focus on taking care of Steve. Just for now.
Joyce carefully reached up and slowly pushed Steve’s hair away from his face, minding where his injuries were. Steve melted into her touch, letting out a soft shaking sigh as the tension leaked out of him like air out of a balloon.
“What hurts?” Joyce whispered, holding his chin in one hand as she put the tiniest bit of pressure against the injury along his hair line. Steve winced anyway, but didn’t pull away from her touch.
“My face. My ribs. Everything, kinda,” Steve shrugged.
“That looks like a pretty nasty cut,” She agreed, keeping her tone light even as her concern continued to mount, “Can you come with me and let me clean you up a bit? Maybe put on some pajamas or something?”
Steve finally pulled away at that, forcing himself to sit up and roughly rubbing his palms against his eyes. Joyce wanted to grab his hands to keep them away from his already injured face, cringing at the harsh way he pushed against the bruises marking his cheeks.
“Oh no it’s okay. I’m gonna go home I think. I just wanted to wait till you and Hop got back,” Steve mumbled, practically rambling as he tried and failed to force his body to stand.
“Okay, okay,” Joyce said, doing her best to soothe him into lying back on the couch. There was zero way she was allowing this boy to go home and lick his wounds in isolation, but she needed to phrase it in a way that would make Steve not fight her. Joyce couldn’t handle that tonight.
Then it came to her all at once.
“Can you do something for me?” Joyce asked softly, running her fingers back through his hair again.
“Mhm,” Steve hummed, nodding immediately. She didn’t know Steve particularly well, but given everything she had seen, and given what she had learned through the few interactions with Jonathan and Will that he had had, the boy was clearly a caretaker. If she phrased it right, she might even get him to see her patching him up as him somehow taking care of her.
“If you left now, I would be scared for you all night long,” Joyce began, keeping her voice soft and patient as she tried to find the right words, “Would you let me take care of you? Just so I feel better?”
Steve stared at her through his bloodied eye for almost a solid minute after Joyce stopped speaking. She wasn’t sure what exactly he was working through, but she didn’t falter. She didn’t look away, didn’t pause in the gentle touch.
Joyce didn’t mind giving him the time. There were a thousand things she didn’t want to think about right now. It felt good to just be able to help, even if it was something as small as a mother’s touch.
“Okay,” Steve whispered, leaning into her hand and closing his eyes.

80s movies that the party would LOVE and we should discuss this more:
- the dark crystal (surprisingly terrifying for a jim henson puppet movie but it's actually great fantasy. also quite camp)
- labyrinth (fantasy! beautiful girl on a mission to save her brother from an evil goblin king! funny puppets! David Bowie in leggings!)
- the fly (those special effects are gross as hell #tome but I think they'd love that, the mad science horror)
- the princess bride (if you think they WOULDNT like this movie dni. if you dislike it, dni²)
- little shop of horrors (we know will is a fan but lets not pretend dustin wouldnt too. will and dustin musical-going buddies? possibly el too)
please feel free to add ur own

I am absolutely in agreement with everyone who noted that the Party (especially Dustin) don't treat Steve great during S4, with the "Do you need to be told everything?" comments and such. So let me offer a slightly different explanation than them simply believing Steve is not cool/ is stupid.
Dustin is going through puberty. Yes, all of the boys are, the girls too, and what does one do during this hormonal time in their life? Rebel.
Now of course, all of the kids rebel to a certain degree, Max would have possibly entered the angsty phase even without going through all the crap with Billy and her mom, Eleven rebelled against Hopper during the summer of 1985, Mike has been a little shit for years (summer of 1985 solidified that), Lucas threw himself into sports to deal with the restless energy. Will is too anxious to allow himself to let go, but he withdraws into himself, working through things on his own. So what does make Dustin a special case?
Dustin doesn't have a father. But unlike Will who has Jonathan, Dustin's only proper authority is his mother and he'd never, ever hurt her by acting like an asshole towards her. She is anxious, he's the only important thing in her life, she says and Dustin believes her. He loves her deeply, but he's afraid to tip the fragile balance, she worries so much yet gives him all the freedom he wants. He could never repay her trust with being angry or moody.
Enter Steve. Steve isn't that much older than Dustin, but he's the only stable male influence Dustin has had so far. He often acts like the voice of reason, like an older brother that Dustin never had. And even when Eddie enters his life, it's different - Eddie is cool, but he hasn't been through all the crap with Dustin and Steve, he doesn't know what it's like. Dustin admires Eddie, looks up to him, but he doesn't have the deep level of trust with him that he has with Steve. So when the urge to rebel rears its ugly head, Steve is usually at the receiving end because he's the only one Dustin trusts enough to believe he'll handle it.
I'd like to imagine Dustin only becomes this bitchy when he's stressed. Maybe he snaps at Steve when he doesn't catch up as soon as Dustin thinks he should, but that doesn't mean he feels good about it. We see in S4 that Steve and Dustin have the sort of dynamic when one of them knows they overstepped and will apologize. And maybe it takes Dustin a bit longer to settle down and think about what things he says and how he says them, but does figure it out eventually.
After Steve's shift, when he's alone in his parents' house - no date today, Dustin always knows about Steve's pursuits - the phone rings and when he picks up, he hears Dustin's voice, clearing his throat. "Hi Steve. I just wanted to say that I thought about the talk we had today, about you not getting things, and it wasn't cool of me to say. You don't make fun of me when I don't get things in PE and so I shouldn't do this either. So - I'm sorry."
Steve smiles against the receiver and closes his eyes. Dustin's insults may sting in the moment, but he's always known he is a good kid, now a good young man. He's not a bully, not like Steve used to be. "Apology accepted, man. Thanks for saying that."
Dustin needs someone to rebel against and it's not fair to Steve that he's the one. But when he messes up, he makes sure to fix it, because Steve is not his friend out of obligation, they chose each other and that means everything. So yes, he will bitch that Steve doesn't carry a flashlight around like he does, but he will pack an extra one, just in case.

I'm mega fucking bored so here are what I think the Star Trek TOS and TNG crews favorite musicals are (as a theatre actor of like a decade lol)
Kirk: Newsies (he was an annoying tenor kid in highschool you know I'm right) (saaNTAAAA FEEEEE--)
Spock: Chess The Musical (also my favorite musical because it FUCKING SLAPS)
McCoy: Bonnie and Clyde (he says he doesn't like musicals but he totally fucking does just look at him)
Scotty: actually doesn't listen to musicals
Sulu: The Count of Monte Cristo (I have no idea why, I just think he'd like A Story Told bc it's dramatic as fuck)
Chekov: Anastasia (he cries during Once Upon A December [esp the reprise])
Uhura: Little Shop of Horrors (I just. I know it's true.)
Chapel: Hello, Dolly (Once again just based off vibes-- but I think she likes the costumes.)
Picard: Les Miserables (obviously)
Riker: Tick, Tick, Boom! (He's a Jonathan Larson stan I just know it)
Data: The Hunchback of Notre Dame ORR SpongeBob (Depends on the day, and tbh he's real for that)
LaForge: Rent (don't question me)
Troi: Evita (she cries every time)
Worf: does not know what a musical is and is very confused
Q: Cabaret or Chicago (he's gay and dramatic idk what to tell you)
Crusher: actually doesn't like musicals
Wesley: Dear Even Hansen (I'M SORRY BUT ITS TRUE) (He is why his mom doesn't like musicals) (he is CURRENTLY an annoying highschool tenor)
Tasha: Mean Girls (just vibes idk don't question me)

It’s the way Steve purposely makes himself smaller around eddie. Be it leaning on things, making Eddie stand on the last step while he wraps his arms around him and hugs his chest… or when he learned that the wider apart his legs are when he’s standing up, the shorter he can get… so sometimes he’s basically doing the splits behind the video store counter to be like 5’8 and his elbows rest on the counter with his face in his hands as he looks up into Eddie’s eyes like he’s the only man in the world. And Eddie’s like “why are you so short today, babe?” And he stands back up straight while clearing his throat like it’s nothing. So Robin had to tell Eddie “Steve likes being shorter than you, it makes him feel cute and safe and protected by you when you’re bigger than him.”
And so Eddie gets boots with a chunky heel to help Steve be shorter than him all the time now

“Why do you take so many pictures?”
It’s a simple question. It should have a simple answer.
But Jonathan can only blink at El with a slightly dropped jaw when he taps him on the shoulder and asks.
Here’s the thing. His family supports his passions, they fawn over his pictures, but none of them have ever really gotten it before. They know it makes him happy to hide behind a camera, that’s enough. They don’t understand why. Even Nancy hadn’t tried to ask.
But El is asking. El wants to know.
Jonathan mulls the question over for a second. He takes a lot of pictures, endless amounts actually. Pictures of things other people wouldn’t really care about. At least, they wouldn’t care the way he did.
Why would Nancy care about a picture of a deer dozing in a patch of grass? How is she supposed to know that Hopper pointed it out to him, and both of them sat in the brush for a whole minute of silence just looking?
When would his mother figure out that the reason he shot a picture of her half empty closet that day was because she had finally gathered the courage to throw out all of his father’s things? Why would she think that a half empty closet would ever be the ultimate sign of liberation?
How can he explain the importance of having the picture of Will at Christmas opening his very first art set? The only thing Jonathan remembers from that Christmas is the way his parents screamed at each other all night long.
But he has the picture of Will’s little gap toothed smile, which proves they were happy at some point that day.
“It’s hard to hold onto good moments. Hard to explain them,” He finally says, the words feeling small and insignificant for what the pictures actually symbolize, “The pictures…they’re memories,”
“Memories,” El echoes, staring at his camera with new found interest. She holds her hand out and he gives it over easily. El twists and turns it, looking over every inch with the wonder that she has for everything new.
If he could, he would take a picture of her right now.
“Can you teach me?” She asks, looking up at him with a distant slight smile, “I want to hold onto good moments too,”
“Of course I can,” Jonathan agrees instantly. He would give El just about anything she ever asked for, the way he would give Will the entire world if he could. Somehow in just a few short months, she has become just as precious to him as the brother he’s known all his life.
She beams briefly, hiding her smile behind the camera and taking a quick snapshot of him.
“I want to hold onto this one first,”
