Family video 🎬
A Steve Harrington x reader (fem) pairing!
A/n: I wrote this with no real intention of making a series but I actually think it would make a sick series so let me know your thoughts :)
Summary: y/n has crush on Steve and goes to his place of work, family video, to see him
Content: pretty much just fluff, if that. Could be a set up for a series. Blurb. Perspective changes from narrator talking about Steve and talking about y/n.
Word count: 754
Tumblr media
My life had been nearly dull until I set my eyes upon Steve Harrington. I've seen him around school and whatnot, but he never paid any attention to me. He had always set his attention upon Nancy, but ever since he graduated things had been different.
I always see him with this girl named Robin, but things between them are nothing above platonic.
I find myself wandering into Family Video trying to get his attention. Whenever I see him I can’t help but feel this overwhelming sense of joy and warmth.
Today was different. I had always noticed that Steve’s body language changed every time I walked in. He could be doing an important task and his gaze would meet mine, he would always drop whatever it was that he was doing to help me.
I might be crazy because that seems like basic customer service, right? right?
But like I said, today was different. I walked in and he did the same thing as always. Meeting my gaze, trying to help me, but when I denied his help he went back to talk with his co-worker, Robin.
****
“Robin, what do I do?” Steve asked in regards to this girl he had grown a fondness for.
“I don’t know, dingus. Use your charm.” She says mocking him and moving her hands in the motion of fixing hair.
“Robin! I’m serious!” He’s whisper shouting now. “I think today is the day, I think I’m gonna do it.” He takes a deep breath before returning to the outer part of the store.
“Good luck, dingus!” Robin calls out to him.
****
Steve approaches me and I put all of my attention forward. Something about him feels confident and in check. He opens his mouth like he’s about to say something but then doesn’t. His eyes look down to the floor and he runs his hand through his hair.
“Is everything alright?” I ask. Not really sure what else I can say.
“yeah uh- yes. Everything is fine. I’m fine. Are you fine? I mean you are fine. But how are you?” I can see he regrets every word that left his mouth. Anyone could practically see that he’s a nervous wreck.
“I am great today. How about yourself?” I reply, trying to keep my cool.
“yeah, no. I mean yes. I am great today also…” he trails off. An awkward silence fills the air between us before he speaks again. “So I was- uh- I was thinking. Do you have any plans tonight?” His face cringes, embarrassed by this whole interaction. I instantly start to blush.
“I don’t. Do you have anything in mind?”
“Movie theater?” His confidence seemed to boost back at this point.
“I would love to. Do you want to pick me up at 7?” I ask him, trying to make it easier for him because it’s clear he was struggling with the words.
“7 is perfect.” He says.
After his reply, he goes to the back room again to revisit with his co-worker. I’m left with thousands of butterflies in my stomach. I can’t believe Steve Harrington asked me out.
****
“Robin, Robin Robin!” Steve announces, walking into the back room.
“What, what, what?” she replies. Robin looks back at Steve but still faces opposite of him.
“I did it, oh my god! I did it!” Steve exclaims excitedly. He’s still processing what just occurred. “I made a fool of myself, but I did it!”
“Wait you actually asked y/n out? I didn’t think you’d actually be able to muster the words out, dingus.”
“I know you make fun of me for my charm, but it actually worked. It actually worked!”
Steve is interrupted by a *ding* sound of the bell on the checkout desk.
****
I press the customer service bell once, then twice to get Steve’s attention. Finally, after I let the second one ring out he appears at the computer.
“I’m so sorry, will this be all today?”
“Yeah, I think so, I sorta kinda have plans to go watch a movie tonight so I don’t want to overwhelm myself with films,” I say smiling smugly.
Steve laughs nervously before handing me my receipt with the return date.
“I’ll see you at 7 then.”
“see you at 7,” I say before walking out of Family Video with the biggest grin on my face.

Hi! For anyone who was severely dissatisfied by season four of Stranger Things:
I will be rewriting the entire thing on ao3. All of season four will be included. It’s going to be a big project and I’m still in the planning stages now, but I will be releasing the first chapter in about two weeks.
It’s mostly character driven. There will be Byler. Many platonic friendships that I felt hadn’t been done justice this season will be explored.
Would anyone like to be tagged?

WaterGate
Eddie Munson x Reader fic
A/n: I wrote this fic with a great idea in mind but I don’t know if I actually like it or not. I think it has some potential and I have a brilliant idea about how to continue it so we’ll see how that goes!
Content: fighting in the upside down, fluff, swearing, flirting.
Summary: you and the gang go through the water gate. When you get there you have to figure out how to fight the bats, and what to do next. Do you get through safely?
Word count: 3680
Tumblr media
Nancy, Robin, Steve, Eddie, and I were on a boat in the middle of Lovers Lake. Our goal was to find a gate the Vecna opened right in the middle of the water. The tricky part was actually locating that gate because… well, you know… It’s deep in the water.
I’m not really sure if I like this, I’ve never been a fan of boats. But being on a boat, leading to a gate to another dimension? Even worse. I don’t know how I got talked into this. At least I’m here with Eddie, who somehow makes everything okay when I begin to lose my mind.
“I’m going down,” Steve says once the boat stops. He practices his gaze down into the murky water waiting for someone to contend. But no one does.
In an instant, Steve strips off his shirt and goes into the water. He holds on to the side of the boat, breathing in a manner to make sure he can be down there for longer. Swiftly he goes down into the water.
“y/n, do you have the stopwatch?” Nancy asks concerned. Her head cocks to the side waiting for my response.
“Yeah, I started it as soon as he went under.”
It’s almost as if we were all holding our breath waiting for Steve to come up. Eddie takes note of my worry and puts his arm around me, rubbing my shoulder to calm me down.
“How long has it been?” Robin asks.
I look down at the stopwatch, “just about a minute.” Nancy looks really worried, she’s almost paralyzed with the fear of losing him. Which I don’t understand quite frankly, but their situation has always been complicated.
Abruptly Steve comes back to the surface. “I found it! It’s crazy, it’s more of a snack-sized gate, not like a mama gate but it’s still pretty damn big-” Steve gets pulled down by something. The rate at which he gets pulled down is fast, he didn’t even have time to get a full breath of air.
All of us begin to call his name in fear of where he went and what pulled him down.
“What the hell was that, man?” Eddie ponders.
Nancy looks around at all of us before taking her jacket and jumping into the water after Steve. “Wait. Don’t follow me.” Robin starts to do the same without hesitation.
“wait wait wait, where are you going?” I ask anxiously.
“where does it look like I'm going?”
“Nancy told us to wait! She’s in charge!” Eddie chimes in.
“Are you kidding me? I made that shit up.” Those were her last words before she dove in after them.
Left on the boat are Eddie and I. I’m getting ready to follow them, starting by taking off my jacket, but Eddie grabs my arm.
“You don’t have to follow them.” His eyes search through mine, trying to find anything to say to get me to stay on the boat. “It’ll be much safer out here.. not in the water.”
“I’m going in after them. It’s not much safer out here than it is in there.” I strip my jacket off before jumping into the water and I can hear Eddie groan “Oh this is so stupid, this is so stupid! Jesus Christ!” followed by a big splash. We swim to the gate. It’s red and slimy. But the strange part is it’s glowing. The gate beats as if it were a heart pulsating.
Eddie and I get through the water gate successfully. When we get down there, there is a swarm of bat-like creatures attacking Steve. They are wrapped around different limbs but the major concern is with the one around his neck.
Lucky for us, there was an abandoned boat just near where Steve was. Eddie and I grab ores while the others use flashlights that they dragged down with them from the boat. Eddie and I are swinging at the bats when my ore breaks into two. One of the bats tries to attack me. It latches into my back and creates a wound on my shoulder. Robin grabs the bat by its tail and shoves it onto the ground followed by Eddie using his ore to stab it.
The rest of the bat-like creatures fly away caused by another disturbance. When all the bats are gone and we can finally let our guard down, Nancy rushes to Steve’s side, inspecting every inch of him to make sure he’s okay. Eddie quickly rushes to mine and inspects my shoulder.
“Oh my god, sweetheart. Are you okay?” He checks other parts of me too to make sure there were no other wounds.
“yes, yes I’m fine. It’s just my shoulder.” Eddie pulls me into a quick embrace. “ow!” I chuckle. Eddie looks at me with his big brown eyes before joining in on the uncomfortable laughter.
“I guess I already forgot that your shoulder is hurt.” I give him a quick kiss in order to fill the need for a physical embrace.
“you know, killing beside you is probably the most romantic thing I could ever ask for,” I tell Eddie.
“I feel the exact same way.”
We all head to the woods as another swarm of bats starts to come in. The woods are thick and are easy to get lost in but as long as we stay together as a group we’ll be fine.
We find a safe space under a rock as we wait for the bats to disperse again. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Eddie look so scared. I try my best to comfort him while we’re in this compromising situation. But there's not much I can do to ease his mind.
After about 10 minutes or so the bats finally leave. We’re left sitting by this giant rock trying to figure out what to do next. Nancy is tending to Steve’s wounds as he’s losing more and more blood. I still try to comfort Eddie in any way that I can. I offer him my hand, to which he refuses. So I just place my hand on his back and rub it gently. He’s not usually like this, but it’s understandable seeing how we could possibly die in another dimension.
Eddie and I both turn our gaze towards Steve and Nancy who are awkwardly flirting with each other while she wraps fabric around his wounds.
Robin crouches down next to Steve and starts a tangent about rabies. She tells him the symptoms and what to look out for. Robin is very scared of rabies for some reason. It’s her number one concern while we’re down here.
Eddie begins climbing this sort of cut down tree. He stands on top of the lumbered down tree proudly as he scans the area. He takes note of some familiar buildings and landmarks.
“So this place is like Hawkins.. but with scary monsters and shit?”
“yeah, pretty much.” Nancy replies, annoyed. She never really liked Eddie much. She thinks that he’s just some freak who smokes weed all day everyday. Which absolutely isn’t even true. Eddie is smart, in his own ways. He has lots of talents that he likes to practice and enhance. Like guitar! Eddie spends so much time practicing his guitar. And he loves to read/write. He could spend hours writing about a new campaign for Hellfire. It’s just upsetting because nobody really takes the time to understand him.
“Watch out for the vines! It’s all one big hive mind!” Nancy warns.
“A what mind?” Eddie and I ask at the same time.
“A hive mind. They’re all connected, all the creepy crawlies around here. They’re like one mind. You step on a vine, you’re stepping on a bat, you’re stepping on Vecna.” Steve concludes.
“So everything that is in Hawkins, is here? except for people?” Robin Theorizes.
“yeah, as far as I understand it.”
“So couldn’t we go to the police station and steal gun and grenades and everything we need to blow up those bats!”
“I highly doubt the police station is gonna have grenades, Robin.” Steve jumps in. “Guns? yes. Grenades? No.”
“Nancy don’t you have guns at your house?” I ask her.
“Oh my god! yes! We don’t need to go all the way downtown to get guns because I have some in my bedroom!” Nancy realizes excitedly.
“You? Nancy Wheeler… have guns…plural in your bedroom?”
“Full of surprises, isn’t she?” I state.
Nancy and Steve continue to flirt awkwardly about events from the past. Events I assume took place when they were together many moons ago. Eddie throws his jean jacket over to Steve.
“For your modesty, dude.” Eddie pretends to be grossed out and looks back at me with this loving look in his eyes.
Suddenly there's a loud rumble sound as the bats swarm together and we find ourselves clumped together in fear.
“yeah, I think we’d better get those guns quickly.” I say.
“What are we waiting for?” Steve gets up and tries to become familiar with the area. He leads the group through the woods as he claims to know where he is going. Eddie, Robin, and I walk slightly behind Nancy and Steve, giving them space for whatever conversation they’re having. Eddie and I are placing bets on whether or not they’re gonna kiss by the time we leave this horrid place. Winner gets $10.
Nancy begins to lead the way independently as she leaves Steve behind. Eddie catches up with Steve to chat with him, leaving Robin and I alone.
Robin and I don’t have much to talk about, seeing as we’re both scared out of our minds right now. So we just listen to Steve and Eddie talk.
“That was a real Ozzy move you did back there.”
“Ozzy?”
“When you took a bite out of that bat? Ozzy Osbourne… Black Sabbath? He bit a bats head off on stage? You know?”
“No idea what you’re talking about.”
“I’m just trying to say it was very metal what you did back there.”
Robin and I exchange a look and start laughing hysterically. It’s funny to watch the guys, these two VERY different people, try to have a conversation without guidance. Robin and I start talking about our own matters while the guys continue to talk. When we eventually fall silent we start to listen to Steve and Eddie once again.
“-which is why I never would have jumped in the lake to save your ass. No way. Not under any normal circumstances.” He pauses before finishing his thought. “outside of D&D I am no hero. I see danger and I just turn heel and run. Or at least that’s what I’ve learned about myself this week.”
“Give yourself a break man.” Steve tells him.
“The only reason I came in here was because those ladies,” he points to Nancy, Robin and I, all scattered in different directions. He notices that Robin and I have been listening the whole time. “they came in straight after you. I was too ashamed to be the one who stayed behind. But Wheeler? She didn’t waste a second. She just dove right in. I don't know what happened between the two of you. But whatever happened, you need to get her back. Because that is the most unambiguous sign of true love as these cynical eyes have ever seen.”
“Is that what it’s like for you and y/n?” He asks. “Does she dive right after you?” Steve turns behind him to see if Robin and I are still focused on his conversation. We manage to play it off.
“Yeah. In out own metaphorical way I think. She dives right after me when I want to chase dreams or anything like that. I mean you’ve met me, I steer away from danger. So no, literally she doesn’t dive right after me. But she supports me in the best possible way…She’s my Nancy.”
Steve nods in understanding as an Earthquake begins to erupt. Robin is un-enthused and tells us how her second biggest fear next to rabies is earthquakes. We all try to trek forward instead of staying in place. Eddie quickly takes his place by my side when we emerge from the woods. We find her house easily in the distance and start to head towards it. Eddie takes my hand in his own as we walk to the house.
Nancy leads us to her bedroom and immediately starts looking in the spot where she last left it. She seems panicked as she digs around looking for this misplaced object. She seems embarrassed that she could misplace such a thing.
“Those aren’t guns” Eddie says, looking at a shoe box.
“I don’t understand…”
“Is it possible you put it somewhere else?” Robin pries.
“I have a six year old in the house, I know where I put my guns! And this doesn’t make any sense… I threw these away years ago…” Her gaze holds a stack of note cards for chemistry. She points out old wallpaper, a mirror, and an old toy. She checks the diary and the last entry is from November 6th, 1983.
‘we’re in the past…” She concludes. We all turn our focus as we hear yelling downstairs.
“Dustin! Dustin!” Steve calls out. We run downstairs and see Steve going crazy.
“He’s here! That little shit is here! He’s like in the walls or something! Listen!”
We all fall silent as Steve continues to yell. We can vaguely hear Dustin speaking and then we all start calling his name. We decide that the best way to communicate to Dustin is through the lights. Nancy puts her hands out to the light first. the sparkles that surround the light bulbs are mesmerizing and tickle our hands.
“Does anyone know morse code?”
“Does SOS count?” I ask.
I use my hands to the light to imitate S. O. S hoping Dustin will see it. All we can do at this point is hope that Dustin understands it. We wait and wait until Dustin sets something up for us to communicate.
we can hear Dustin ask faintly if we can see what he has set up for us.
We test how to use it. Making the light stronger and weaker at our will. Dustin unplugs it and waits for us to spell something out. Nancy begins to spell out “stuck.”
Dustin asks if we can get back through “watergate.” We all become confused and Robin clears is up. “It’s in water, and it’s a gate.”
“oh that’s cute.” I say to the group, more amused than annoyed.
Nancy writes out “gaurded.”
Dustin says he has a theory that there is a gate at every murder site. We’re all confused so Nancy draws a question mark. Dustin goes on this tangent about how he’s always right and we need to trust him.
“Jesus Christ this kid needs to get his ego in check.” Steve states.
“It’s his tone, right?” asks Eddie.
We discuss how far Eddies trailer is from Nancy’s house and try to figure out a plan on how to get there. We decide that bikes would be the best way to travel 7 miles. We grab the bikes from the garage and speed on up to Eddie’s trailer.
The dust particles in the air make it nearly impossible for us to catch our breath as we bike. I cough the whole way there practically.
We get to Eddie’s trailer relatively quick, or as quickly as you can on bikes for 7 miles. We get inside and see the gate on the roof pulsating as if it were alive. It’s bright and glowing a dark red. It’s closed in a red slimy goo when something begins to poke out of it not quite breaking through the layer of slime.
Abruptly the gate bursts revealing four kids on the other side waiting. Dustin, Max, Lucas, and Erica. The room fills with laughter as Dustin feeds into his pride. “Bada-Bada-Boom!”
They try to figure out a safe way to get us back into our normal reality. Lucas and Erica tie a bunch of sheets together, making one long rope while Lucas and Max move the mattress from Eddie’s bedroom just below this ominous gate. We all fix our gaze on the several stains placed on Eddie’s bed. Eddie becomes embarrassed as he tries to explain what they are.
“Those stains are uhh…” He looks at me, seeking help but I don’t know what to say and I quickly become embarrassed too. “I don’t know what those stains are.” He finishes.
Dustin throws the rope through the gate and it stays perfectly balanced between the two worlds. We test to see if it’ll hold our weight by hanging on it. Robin goes through first, landing on the mattress flatly.
“That was fun!”
We all exchange looks as we figure out who goes next. Eddie urges me to go through so I do. He helps me up, knowing I have no upper body strength, and I make it through safely. Following me is Eddie. As soon as he makes it through he runs up to me and wraps me in his arms. “ow!” I remind him chuckling. We both already forgot that my shoulder got hurt.
“We’re never doing that again!” He states as his lips embrace mine, pulling me back into a hug as if he were trying to keep me safe from everything that just happened.
At this point, Nancy and Steve should have gone through but Nancy is frozen in place. She’s almost in trance as we all scurry to find music that is suitable to play to bring Nancy out of this trance state.
“Madonna, Blondies, Beatles! Music! We need Music!” Robin states as she holds a few cassette tapes in her hands. Eddie takes one of the cassettes from Robin and shouts.
“This is music!” We all continue to scramble when suddenly we hear Nancy come out of her trance like state and onto the mattress. She’s scared. She’s anxious like she just had a nightmare. Everyone rushes over to make sure she’s okay. After ensuring she was fine, physically, we move her over to the couch where we can then have a little chat. Nancy told us she wasn’t ready to talk yet.
It was late at night anyways so we all just end up sleeping at Eddies trailer. We decided we would do a check in once we all wake up in the morning.
Everyone finds their spots either on the couch, the floor, or the stained mattress. Eddie and I claim his uncles room so we can talk about today. Everybody settles in before Eddie and I leave to the other room.
I take my place on the left side of the bed as always and climb closer to Eddie once he gets under the covers.
”Today was… a lot.” I started.
“We’re never doing that again,” he laughs. “You’re going to stay right here for the rest of this so-called adventure.” He jokes.
“Only if you stay right by my side,” I reply, running my hand through his hair and placing my head on his chest. I notice his heart is beating faster than usual but choose not to comment on it. He places his hand on my shoulder and I slightly wince causing him to retreat.
“Can I look at your shoulder?” He asks. “We should probably clean it up or something, sweetheart.”
I remove my tank top to make my wound more visible. I can hear Eddie make a noise of discomfort as he scans my wound. Which means it’s probably bad.
“It looks pretty deep.”
“It feels fine. Except for, you know, when anything is touching it.” I try to joke but obviously, Eddie is taking it more seriously than I am. He gets up and goes into the bathroom that’s connected to his uncle's room. I can hear a lot of rustling and moving around in there before he comes back out with a box.
“Here’s what I’m gonna do.” he starts. “I’m going to put some of this alcohol on it so it doesn’t get infected. Then I’ll put some of the gauzes over it with a wrap. Okay?” I nod my head in response. The only thing that scares me is the alcohol because I know it’s gonna sting.
We deal with the wound, taking our time, and the alcohol stung just as bad as I thought it would. At least now it won’t hurt all the time when something is against it. Eddie gathers everything he used and puts the box back into the bathroom. Standing in the doorway he speaks to me.
“you need to get some sleep now, sweetheart.”
“I know, I just- I can’t. Something inside of me just feels off. I want all of this to be over.” I breathe out deeply trying to control my feelings.
“I know, princess. Me too, I think everyone does. But you need to rest. Can you do that for me?”
“Only if you lay next to me.”
Eddie begins to crawl back under the covers by me and holds me close to his body.
“You owe me $10 by the way,” Eddie tells me.
“Whatever,” I snicker.
And just like that I’m asleep in his arms.

Stranger Things Season 4 Notes Part [1/?]: Featuring Wendy Deakins and the Twins!
Tumblr media
Wendy’s Bio, Connie’s Bio, Kenny’s Bio, Previous Season Notes: S1, S2, S3
Strap in folks! This one’s gonna be a long one! I might have to break it into parts but I wanted to include all three of them this time so bare with me!
Part 1: Episodes 1, 2, and 3
In the meantime between Season 3 and Season 4, Steve and Wendy have started their lives outside of high school, Robin being only a year behind them. Robin and Steve still work at Family Video and Wendy’s Dad’s auto shop is just across the street. The three of them, despite Steve and Wendy both having their own cars, have started car pooling everywhere. The happy couple and their best friend.
Wendy and Steve’s relationship is a bit weird, they’re a bit in the awkward stage going from friends to sorta dating but they appear to be doing alright. They’re still fumbling their way around PDA, not sure where the other’s boundaries are. Also, the two of them are hellbent on finding Robin a girlfriend. Vickie looks promising.
In the scene’s leading up to lunch the day of the pep rally, we are introduced to the twins! Connie and Kenny are walking through the halls as they usually do. The two, despite their familial similarities, could not look more different. Kenny is dressed in pretty much all black or dark blue, nothing flashy about anything on him, trying to make himself look as unremarkable as possible. Meanwhile, Connie is talking animatedly to him, she has her hair up in a hot pink scrunchie. She is also wearing a hellfire club t-shirt. Kids passing the two of them look at the strangely, whether it be because of Connie’s shirt or Kenny’s awkwardness neither can be sure.
Connie tries in vain to get Kenny to sit at lunch with the club. “I really think you’d like them!” “I don’t need your help making friends, Con.” “Right... If you aren’t gonna sit with us at least play the game this time, I’m sure Eddie can find a way to squeeze you in.” “I already told you, I’ve gotta fix the stage lights. Ya know, for the show you’re a part of. You don’t want the spotlight going out on you during your big solo.” “Fine. Next time then.”
As the twins separate, Connie heading to the hellfire table, Kenny to eat lunch by himself, Connie bumps into Chrissy Cunningham. The two apologize to each other, Connie being only a little bit awkward at being in such a pretty girl’s presence. Connie notices something a bit off and is about to ask about it when Chrissy finds an excuse to leave.
Connie informs the Hellfire Club that they can still use the theater tonight and Dustin and Mike let them know, reluctantly, that Lucas can’t make it.
“Ms. Clarke?” “Mr. Munson.” “Don’t you have a brother that can be called upon to fill the spot of our basketball wielding betrayer?” “Tried already. He’ll be in the theater tonight but he said no.” “Boooo...” “Maybe next time guys.”
Steve and Wendy go to the basketball game together to support their son Lucas and their buddy Robin, sharing some popcorn, enjoying each other’s company and making fun of Tammy Thompson’s awful singing voice.
Prior to the Hellfire meeting, the Clarke twins and Eddie are the first ones there. Connie heads to the dressing room to have a private place to practice some lines in the show leaving Eddie and Kenny alone.
“So this is the knave who thinks he’s too good for Dungeons and Dragons.” Not expecting to have been spoken to, Eddie’s voice nearly startles Kenny off the ladder. “Augh- uh... Did, did Connie say that?” “No. Your sister has spoken rather highly of you, actually. I just want to know why you don’t want to play.” Kenny gestures with the tool in his hands, “I’m working.” “You have to fix one light.” “Yeah well, I’ve never really played anything like it before.” “I could teach you. It’s not a difficult game to learn.” “It’s also creative though, right?” “Yeah?” Eddie says, “And?” “That’s more Connie’s department.” Eddie is quiet for a moment (shocking really from what Kenny knows about the other boy), weighing what he wants to say, “We are wrapping up a campaign tonight but when we start the next one, there’ll be a place at the table for you, should you chose to accept it.”
The Hellfire Club, with the addition of Erica, sits down to play pretty much right when Kenny finishes fixing his light. Stuck there until his sister wraps up, Kenny tries his best to keep busy but eventually does end up invested in the fight against Vecna. He watches from afar, occasionally locking eyes with the Dungeon Master.
Thanks to the Sinclair’s both teams win their respective games and everyone, except for maybe Lucas goes home from school happy that night.
The following day, while working with her father, Wendy discusses her frustration at the lack of response she’s received in her application to vet schools. She’s put the work in, she has the grades, why won’t they let her in? In the midst of her father’s comforting, there is a news report on the tv in her father’s office. A Hawkins High School student’s body has been found.
The Clarke’s also watch the newscast at home, all three of them wondering if the student is someone they knew. Either being in their grade or having been a student of his a few years ago.
At Family Video, Wendy has come over to discuss the news with Steve and Robin when Dustin and Max come in. The two explain the situation and yet another Hawkins mystery begins. Steve wants to go to the police but Wendy adamantly refuses, with Hopper gone, the best people in charge of this case, whether it has to do with the Upside Down or not, is them.
Dustin uses the phone to call the Clarke’s and informs Connie, who answers the phone, that Eddie is in trouble and they should meet him at an address they found. The twins have a hushed argument while their father is painting minis in the garage. Eventually Connie wins and they quickly inform their father that they both will be going out to run some errands (safety in numbers, to make their Dad feel better about them leaving) and that they’d be back soon.
At Reefer Rick’s Cabin, the large assembly of young adults check the house. The Clarkes are formally introduced to Max and the Scoops Troop. Connie and Robin look at each other for maybe a little too long. Prompting some surprised but knowing looks between Steve and Wendy. Also, Max notices a light on in the nearby boathouse
Inside, Eddie attacks Steve leading Wendy and Connie to step in. Wendy is a bit confrontational in this situation as the Russian torture memories still haven’t healed over well. Connie attempts to calm Eddie down, being a much older friend to him. Kenny also tries to help but is a bit awkward about it for a handful of reasons.
One thing leads to another and Dustin reluctantly spills the beans to Eddie and the twins.
The next day, the team of seven return to Reefer Rick’s with food and the Clarkes also brought a nicer blanket and a pillow. Kenny also gives Eddie a Rubik's Cube as something to fidget with. In addition, they also offer him news that while the police are looking for him, they haven’t released his name yet.
When police cars are heard in the distance, the twins decide that Kenny will stay behind with Eddie at the moment to help him, while everyone else piles into Steve’s car. Kenny wants to argue that maybe Connie should stay, she is adamant that she wants to find out what’s going on and what the police are doing when it concerns her friend. She’s not going to hear it from anyone else. Someone has to stay with Eddie but Connie wants in on the investigation.
When the six of them find Nancy at the sight of yet another grizzly ‘murder’ a conclusion is made. The Upside Down is definitely involved.
The gang swaps information with Nancy, trying to cross reference some kind of correlation between Chrissy and Fred. When Nancy goes to investigate things at the library, Connie is delegated to go with her. “Aren’t you Mr. Clarke’s kid? You’re smart.” “I’m really no-” Then Robin speaks up, “I’ll go with! Too, I mean. I would like to go too.”
Wendy and Steve, staying behind as the pseudo parents for Max and Dustin smile at each other. They know. The decision is made and as most of the girls head to the library, the family unit heads to the guidance counselor’s house.
While waiting for Max outside Dustin says, “Well don’t you too look awfully cozy” “What?” Wendy looks down to see their hands are subconsciously close to each other. The two stare at each other with wide eyes before they separate. Simultaneously saying, “Shut up.”
Lucas calls over the radio once Max is back with some stolen keys and Wendy tells him that they are going to the school. She hangs up before Lucas can warn them about the basketball team.
The research at the library goes well despite the awkwardness of the three’s relationships. All three girls are in the same graduating class but they have very different experiences in regards to Upside Down stuff. Nancy has been doing this for the longest amount of time, Robin has only been at it for a few days a year or so ago and Connie’s been doing it for about twenty four hours. Connie and Robin both ask Nancy a lot of questions, Robin a little more frequently. They do however work well together finding the information that they need. Nancy even manages to catch Connie and Robin stealing looks at each other when they think no one is looking.
Robin radios the school team with their findings but they are busy breaking in.
Steve and Wendy probably have something to say about wandering the halls of a school they haven’t gone to in a year as they find Ms. Kelley’s office. Wendy is quick to point out the similarities in the files between Chrissy and Fred’s cases. Max seems to realize something too...

“Because here's the thing: Eddie Munson has always been weird. Since Steve first saw him his freshman year, weird. But Steve Harrington has always liked him.
Eddie was older, and cooler, and everything Steve wasn't. For the longest time Steve just called it jealousy, called it anger. He called it anything other than what it actually was: a crush.
---
or where Eddie Munson works at the mall and Steve's had a crush on him for years”

“Steve still has nightmares. They wake him up every night and sometimes it's not enough to just check the locks and go back to bed. So he and Eddie had started calling each other when they're unable to relax again. Then they started going to each others houses when they got really bad. And yeah maybe Steve has a small crush he's been nursing, but nothing could come out of it right?
Or, during a smoke and talk, things go in a different direction than they normally do.”
