CHILLS #and it hurts me so very much to think of how connected she felt to ward in that regard while he himself was preying on and manipulating her #tucking away every vulnerable detail she shared for later use #how he convinces her to trust him and that he won't turn his back on her just to be yet another person who has abused her #how when he starts talking about how he isn't a good man it must be so easy to think he's just like her - thinking she's bad and worthless #and wrong and unlovable because that's what abuse does that's what it does to you #and daisy is so keenly aware of that so much more self-aware than she's given credit for #abuse /#daisy who is actually able to articulate what ward was to her and who maybe misses what she thought he was sometimes because how could #it not be nice to for a moment have someone who understood #but who is also so keenly aware of who he is and what he has done

not really because i haven't really thought about it! and this isn't really my own worldbuilding, this is the general consensus from high fantasy media in general:

Warlocks in general have a reputation for being evil, practicing dark magic, and making pacts with "bad" forces - like demons! they're thought to be servants of evil & are not to be trusted. their magic is usually chaotic and wild, unlike wizardry and witchcraft with are more careful and controlled - and their magic is learned, whereas warlocks get their magic from a powerful entity via some form of payment (ex: their soul)

really, warlocks can be good or bad or somewhere in between like any magic user. but due to the nature/source of their powers, they're seen as evil. the rarity of them only adds to this, since many do indeed get corrupted by their patron - or they sought out their pact for less than savory reasons

#no one chooses the warlock path unless they're desperate / think they have no other option #so then a lot of people who make pacts are in Not Great mental/emotional condition #which makes it easy for the source of their power to manipulate them #ya dig? does that make sense?#its like... wizards are scientists. theyre careful and studious about their magic #but warlocks are Artists! they just kinda fuck around and find out!#of course you'll see wild variation depending on who you ask about this subject #irl. not - not in the au #like a different blog might portray warlocks entirely differently #but i have my own understandings / interpretations of different magic users and the like #this is one of them!#i could use the cooking analogy....#rambles from the bog #wh fantasy au #wally becomes aware of the warlock reputation very early on #so he quickly starts to portray himself as a wizard & act like it. thus - hiding the Seal at all times!#Home's tome and staff certainly help with the lie!#wally: wow! the world is so wide and beautiful!#wally a few days later: i may have miscalculated #hope you're having a good timezone as well! im always happy to Talk!

Helloo i just came to your blog and found the whole apocalypes au interesting 👀

I dont understand much of the au concept tjo so mind enlightening me? ^^ i wanna see more of it akskaosn

The basic concept is that the world is in disarray and has fallen into an apocalypse due to the effects of blot on mages/magical creatures producing more Overblots than ever before, which has forced those living in this new world to adapt and evolve in order to survive. This means building strong, sturdy compounds and using any means necessary to stay afloat (moral compasses are very skewed and corrupt in this au). Additionally, since women are now seen as a precious resource, they are kept within the compounds for the sake of reproduction. There are seven major compounds: Heartslabyul, Savanaclaw, Octavinelle, Scarabia, Pomefiore, Ignihyde, and Diasomnia, all with their own sets of regulations, traditions, and ways of living. Noble Bell is technically a compound of its own, with Rollo as the leader, and RSA also counts as a compound. But we haven't touched much on both yet!

Let me be absolutely clear -- the problems with Tumblr will keep getting worse if the disabled minority and the trans people and the people frothing at the mouth at the opportunity to yell at a transphobe, keep @’ing staff and the developers on this site, tell them to kys, because in the meanwhile the transphobes and racists and white supremacists will keep using the actual tools Tumblr provides for blocking and reporting, further poisoning the datasets used for moderation, and encouraging the idea that using the official tools does nothing to basically ensure the only statistically meaningful data available to Automattic is poisoned, poisoned all the way down, poisoned beyond usability.

Hatespeech and bias needs to be reported for it to be considered statstically significant to act on from a developer point of view. Suicide baiting and spamming any of the official means of communication will get you eliminated as a spammer, even if you’re peppering legitimate criticism within your ventpost about how you hate the new thing. You are playing the TE/RFs game.

The way people treat our VAs makes me so furious. The disrespect, the shouting and swearing and verbal abuse, has always been here. But post-covid something like 2 out of 5 clients are cruel or even threatening to our front desk staff, constantly swearing at them. My coworkers are coming back to the treatment room multiple times a shift just so they can have time to collect themselves in a space where they're not being shouted at.

Receptionists, vet assistants, clinic front desk staff of any kind are human beings. They're in this industry because they care about animals. Our clinic could not function without them. They want to help you and your pet. They have no control over wait times or pricing. Swearing at them, threatening them, will not help you or your animal.

I know that veterinary emergencies are stressful. I know that the financial cost of veterinary medicine can be prohibitive. I understand that it is heartbreaking when your treatment options are limited. I am sorry for the difficult experiences anybody has had with their pet's health.

But being cruel to staff members? It won't solve your financial problems, it won't change the diagnosis, it won't give your animal a better outcome. It serves no purpose except to hurt a human being who is doing their best.

If this post reaches you, I ask that you treat your fellow human beings with courtesy and patience. If you want to go a step further and fight back against the tide of negativity, try and remember the name of the front desk staff who help you. If you send your clinic a card, include them in your thanks.

Our front desk staff are some of the kindest people I have ever met. And yet they deal with abusive clients day in and day out. At the very least, please don't be one of them.

yes this is a natural series of events when you've worked at the same place for over a year and it also happens to have RIDICULOUSLY quick turnover where very few people wind up staying on consistently, but ive become one of the Experienced Waitresses That Knows What They're Doing at my job and we very suddenly have a lot of New Teenagers That Have Never Done This Before and it's just. insane to me. bc when i started my job i was SO intimidated like it truly is a big very fast-paced place where everyone has to pull their weight (ie you need to be able to do the coffee station and work the floor and run food and help on bar) and the customers are particularly wankerish so the more Experienced Staff that had been there for a while were like mini gods to me. like truly i thought they were so cool and smart and unbothered and now that's me. i have a gaggle of 17 year olds constantly asking me how to do things and I KNOW THE ANSWER. on a government wage no less

#like it's a BIT annoying bc this is just not the kind of place that should be hiring teenage first-time workers #but the catering industry is doing BAD atm and my manager got told off by head office for spending too much on wages #so he's hiring a load of young people bc guess what! young people have lower minimum wages! some of them are literally on fiver an hour #i genuinely think when i turn 21 my hours are gonna PLUMMET but that's a future me problem #but yeah it means there's like. ten of us that have been working there consistently for months to years at a time #and the rest of the staff are just completely new. like everyone i was working with yesterday were college kids #that had been there a handful of weeks. and im someone who still regularly needs to ask management questions #bc for starters that never goes away like truly u do just need help but also bc I NEVER GOT OFFICIALLY TRAINED #EVERYTHING I KNOW I LEARNED ON THE JOB. DO YOU KNOW HOW STUPID THAT IS #so i have these teenagers looking up at me like 'how do i do x thing' and im like idk either babe. let's quit together #hella slaves to capitalism
