Don’t know if I mentioned this before but, Stan the Guard is low-key a character foil to the Captain of the Guard, or at least, some kind of mirror opposite going on.
For example, Stan is well aware of Cassandra’s ambitions to be a royal guard in season one and as far as “Great Expotations” shows, he’s actively helping her. In contrast, Captain is well aware but is actively dissuading her, with the whole “I don’t think you’re ready to be a guard” + Cass being like “my dad’s standards and expectations for me are higher than for anyone else”
Another example is that while still being a royal guard, Stan will kind of... look the other way when the main cast break rules and protocol, even if it effects him negatively. He’s flexible. Meanwhile Captain is rigid. Everything has to have a procedure and whatnot. Stan is sociable and is likable to the main cast vs Captain being standoffish and well, not unlikeable to the main cast but he comes up as a wall in their plot path several times.
Help me I have three different drabble series I could choose from but I can't decide:
1. S1 Varian leaves Corona after blizzard to find a way to free Quirin, ends up in different town and has a successful career as an alchemist. Raps passes through the town in her quest and befriends him again.
2. Hugo as a terrible progidy kid.
3. Varian's time in S2, where guards try to redeem him
I have decided that Stan and Pete the guards from Tangled and Repunzels tangled adventure are in love. I have no basis for this, I just decided they are in love.
He’s the most expressive croc other than Makuu and Kiburi and I love him. He’s such an icon
His mind immediately thinking about food when Nduli mentions fish like SAME
And the fact that he’s so honest and self aware when he was like “Well we’re not smart so we’re not gonna stop doing this evil thing!”. Gold, I tell you! Gold!
He’s so overconfident and determined but he’s so stupid and weak at the same time he’s great
And his NY accent ties it all together. It makes his character soooo much funnier
What are your headcanons for what everyone was doing during the wedding?
Varian's got a combination confetti/bird seed canon (Rapunzel insisted on not rice, since that's bad for birds) to go off the instant they step out of the chapel. But it's a little unstable, so he needs to keep constant watch over it to be sure it doesn't... you know... explode on the bride and groom. Quirin is helping him.
Because Rapunzel doesn't have any bride's maids, Eugene didn't want an unbalanced wedding party by having Lance as his best man. So Lance and the girls are in charge of making sure the reception goes smoothly, and Lance is taking this job very seriously. He has sampled every catering dish, and a teeny tiny nibble of cake that could be easily repaired with a dollop of frosting. The girls have made sure that the tables are are spread out enough that when rambunctious kids run between them, people have room to get out of the way. The dance floor is polished to a shine, and Hook Hand's piano has been rolled into place. The food has all been tested a second time (and it's delicious). All they need now are the bride and groom.
Edmund and the rest of the Brotherhood would have liked to have made it, but they're too busy rebuilding their land. It's at an unstable part of the reconstruction, and they couldn't have literally everyone who's considered a leader up and leave all at the same time for the journey there, the (likely) long party afterward, and the journey back. They have sent their well wishes and gifts, though. Eugene is wearing the sash his dad and Xavier made for him in lieu of Edmund actually being there.
Stan and Pete are doing their jobs. They're guards, and this is a royal wedding. It's imperative that no one tries to attack the kingdom or go on a crime spree on a day like today.
The townspeople we know are there, they're just in the crowd. It's not like every face is focused on.
I, for one, do not think it’s a coincidence that the director of Ghosted was like “hey, let’s make the internet happy and bring on Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie to cameo in this Chris Evans spy movie” and then, for good measure, said “and lets also bring on one half of the greatest gay couple in action movie history”
I’ll never get over the deleted Bonnie and Stefan scenes from season 1 episode 11. This was such a sweet moment that really highlighted Bonnie emotions about her new reality. For some reason some Stan’s act as if they can’t read between the lines with certain characters in certain situations in regard to their feelings and Bonnie’s the main example of that. The show never gave Bonnie a moment to truly express her feelings in most situations in a vulnerable way but THIS WAS THIS WAS THEIR MOMENT!!!
This scene was their moment to give insight to Bonnie’s inner emotions that she hid Instead of giving her the “I’ll be strong” attitude that was so single noted. Although I don’t think this scene would of changed a lot of fans feelings towards Bonnie’s since she was still on guard and judgment to vampires/their faves it still would of been nice to see a more vulnerable side to Bonnie to add more depth to her character. Bonnie wasn’t just scared of vampires she was scared of being a witch and it’s not bc she hated it all it’s because she needed time to understand what was going on around her.
I DONT KNOW WHY STANS ACT LIKE THATS AN ABNORMAL FEELING TO HAVE (besides the obvious her hating on their faves).
Side note: this was such a good Stefonnie scene as well and I hate that the writers ruined the potential friendship that could have been them.
