Ok big brain time

I can't stop thinking of that Yoshi egg in the end credits of the Mario Movie, and what it all means going forward...

Please note at the time of writing this I have not yet seen the movie in full, but I just want to write down my thoughts based on what I know about so far. Apologies for any errors.

Out of all the characters I find strange to introduce in an end credits scene...why Yoshi? Was...Yoshi ever a popular character to deserve hype? Let alone for a movie verse?

In regards to the games, Yoshi's most notable is the Yoshi's Island series, which introduced new lore and characters, such as Baby Bowser, the Yoshi's of Yoshi Island, and of course...the "origins" of Mario and Luigi.

I hope you know where I am going with this.

Not only do we get the established "twin bond" between Mario and Luigi (which allows them to sense each other whenever they are far apart), but in Yoshi's Island DS, we were introduced to the concept of "The Star Children"

Now hear me out because I know this is going to sound crazy - but I have an idea!

What if the sequel is introducing the "Star Children"?

Based on what we know in the movie, there are a few things to note:

1. Peach is a lost child who was found by the Toads. Where did she come from? Where are her real family? Are they dead? Did they perhaps send her away for her safety because someone or something was targeting her?

2. Mario and Luigi have parents. Which I find a little odd. Now hear me out! Yes it's great we do (finally) meet their parents, but are you seriously telling me that Nintendo approved Illumination to give them fully fleshed out parents, but in the Yoshi's Island games we don't even see their faces? I dunno, that seems quite fishy to me...

So options for how this could go down:

a) the couple are NOT the Bros' parents, but adopted the Bros when they were sent away from the Mushroom World for their safety, due to a prophecy. It's only after the events of the first movie, that their parents realise the boys deserve to know the truth...

or b) the couple ARE their real parents, but they are actually from the Mushroom World, and moved away to another world, but decided to keep it a secret from their boys in order to keep them safe. Cue the awkward "Oh by the way that kingdom you found, well turns out we're all from there!" reveal.

Of course I am very likely just reading too deep into this but I think it's worth bringing up!

3. The Yoshi egg hatching in the sewer is very reminiscent of the end credit scene in Yoshi's Island DS; which revealed Yoshi being born as the 7th and final "Star Child". Now of course we haven't seen Wario yet (he may be in the sequel), but that egg hatching could be Yoshi being "born".

I know I am very likely to be wrong about all this, and this isn't what will happen at all. But I just wanted to get this out. It's food for thought based on things I just found interesting to talk about.

There are many stories in the world of rock music when the children of musicians continue the family tradition and become stage stars.

The new band BASTARDANE, which includes a drummer Castor Hetfield, son of METALLICA frontman James Hetfield

Bastardane is a wild mix of sludge metal, thrash metal, progressive and melodic rock. It consists of Jake Dallas (vocals and bass), Ethan Sirotsky (guitar) and Castor Hetfield (drums).

Slipknot

The cult metal band Slipknot featured 33-year-old drummer Jay Weinberg, the son of the famous Max Weinberg, who stood at the origins of the legendary E Street Band and worked with Bruce Springsteen. Weinberg Jr. was part of Slipknot from 2014 to 2023.

Suspect208

London Hudson, 21, the son of Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash, is the drummer of the Los Angeles band Classless Act, as well as the founder of the band Suspect208.

"208 is my studio number, and it was here that Noah [Weiland] and I started composing music together. It was our refuge, where we could spend days and nights, composing, playing, sleeping. This was our secret place. And all the shit that's going on out there, it's very suspicious," London shared. And the word "suspect" just translates as "suspicious".

SWMRS

Joey Armstrong, the drummer of SWMRS, is the son of Green Day frontman Billy Joe Armstrong. The resemblance is striking!

As Lions

As Lions frontman Austin Dickinson is the son of the famous Bruce Dickinson from Iron Maiden. Austin noted that the main task of As Lions is to create "the coolest and heaviest hard rock they are capable of."

Inhaler

Elijah Hewson, vocalist and guitarist of Inhaler, is the son of U2 frontman Paul Hewson, better known as Bono. Hewson's parents hold the position that Elijah must achieve everything on his own. They don't help their son more than they need to: even when his hotel reservation was canceled during the band's first tour, his parents told him to sleep "on a park bench." Interestingly, the band's name, which translates as "inhaler", was given to the band because of Hewson's asthma.

The Wallflowers

54-year–old Jacob Dylan, the frontman of The Wallflowers, is the son of iconic singer and songwriter Bob Dylan. The Wallflowers became famous in 1996 after the release of the album "Bringing Down the Horse", which won two Grammy Awards, and the songs "One Spotlight" and "6th Avenue Heartache" became hits.

Motel 7

The Motel 7 line–up includes Anton Khabbaz and Dylan Jagger Lee, the son of Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee and Pamela Anderson. The guys don't get hung up on any particular musical genre and experiment with different styles, combining them: from modern alt-pop and shades of hip-hop to the light sound of indie/alt-rock of the 2000s.

Taipei Houston

Taipei Houston is a new band featuring two sons of Metallica founder Lars Ulrich, Miles and Lane, who play drums and bass guitar respectively. After Lars heard them perform the classic Beatles' Eleanor Rigby, he said he was proud of his sons. In his opinion, none of the covers of this song were filled with such energy and madness of garage rock.

I have been away from technology. I apologize for my silence. Though, none of us have found each other yet, it's important that I speak directly to you. Right now. Whenever you see this.

It's been about a week, I'd say. I was out in the forest for two days, testing my limits. I am not cut out for roughing it just yet. I tended to the garden and I meditated as much as my busy mind could let me.

It feels like something awaits us. Something big. Good or bad, I don't know. I do not have those abilities.

In my dreams, I'm sitting across from beings of light that my mind can't comprehend the nature of. We talk like old friends.

Hey um do you have any headcanon about the star children from yoshi's island ds, I mean we know who they are but what kind of powers they have and that? I'm kinda disappointed that Nintendo never explore the storyline again that would be a nice game idea.

(Incase you don't know who the star children are: mario, luigi, peach, Bowser, donkey Kong, yoshi and Wario)

I do have headcanons from years back. Nothing too special; it's more that I headcanon that the Star Children are all destined to be connected (whether familial, love interest, enemy, ally etc), and they are all blessed with a power that unlocks when they reach adolesance.

Mario has control over fire.

Luigi has control over lightning.

Peach has her floating abilities, the power to make her emotions (or "vibes") manipulate the world around her (case in point: in Super Princess Peach she can turn into a fireball when mad, make plants grow with her tears, and had healing magic. She is one of the most powerful of the Star Children.

Bowser is a more powerful koopa with his fire breath and physical strength.

Wario has physical strength.

Donkey Kong is more powerful than the other Kongs, being more stronger and faster.

Yoshi has the flutter jump and overall has more enhanced abilities than the normal yoshi.

These headcanons are more related to the game universe.
