I love Spock so much. I’m constantly thinking about “‘Vulcan’s do not lie,’ Spock lied,” and “one of my ancestors married a human” (his DAD he’s talking about his DAD marrying his MOM, king shit)

He never leaves my head I am rotating him like a rotisserie chicken in the microwave. I love him.

spock remembers the loneliness of his childhood in shades of red, like dust clinging to his skin under a green sky, brittle and hollow and far too vast.

but now-- now, the loneliness is far away, a distant memory in this warm bed, because how could the world be too vast, when he has his whole universe in the warm bodies pressed up against him-- when he has everything he could ever have wished for in his arms.

he is not lonely, he thinks to himself, as leonard shifts against his chest and jim makes a soft, adoring sound, muffled in his hair. not anymore.

WHY does nobody understand. that Spock is a Bitch. this is not a character flaw indeed it is an integral part of his personality that doesn’t actually contradict his deep kindness and compassion!! and actually BOTH of those are traits of his that people fail to recognize and I think it does a very serious disservice to his character. he would not be Spock without these fundamental building blocks (among others)

#fundamentally Spock is a long list of contradictory natures synthesized into one person. it’s the base idea of his character #that and the fact that many of these things aren’t actually contradictory even when he has a hard time recognizing that #honestly. he’s like a dialectical behavioral therapy handbook come to life and I love him for it #Star Trek

Ok, so that episode of Picard was a lot.

But I think the story they're trying to tell us is one about grief. It has always been about grief for Data. The first season of Picard underscored that, and we are getting the bigger picture of how each character has been changed by it. Data's sacrifice fractured this family, but it also told us that given the chance they would have each taken his place, and I think that's what they all grapple with when they return.

It makes total sense to me that Thad and Jack were born back-to-back after Data's death, and in that timeframe, none of these characters have processed their loss. In the aftermath, Picard threw himself into life-threatening situations that didn't inspire a lot of faith in Beverly, certainly when her whole life has been painted by loss and abandonment. Was she absolutely wrong for taking that choice away from him? Yes. I don't think Beverly thought herself big enough to ask Picard to drastically change his life to fit around her and this baby. But she could do it for Jack, she can give up everything to protect him. Grief doesn't always sound rational or feel right to other people.

The end of the episode shows us exactly why Picard's stand-your-ground and fight mentality frightens them all. For Troi and Riker and Beverly and I'm sure Geordi, the emotional stakes were too high after Data. When Thad got sick, Riker and Troi left Starfleet. When Beverly and Jack were being hunted they ran. It takes Picard seventeen seconds to get to sickbay and watch Beverly revive Jack to fully understand why a parent would grab their children and run when danger is knocking on their door. The Next Generation has always been a story about legacy, of course, they're going to tell one more for its title character. Just as the story has weaved through Alexander, Thad, and Kestra. Just as we know Dahj and Soji and Elnor. We will know Sydney and Alandra. Just as it has always been about Wesley. This too is about Jack Crusher. It has always been about family.

christine chapel analysis for episodes 7-8-9:

christine's behavior in episode 9 is explainable by her state of mind and the emotional distress she went through in episodes 7 & 8.

we know how much christine loves spock. he is the only being that christine allowed herself to truly connect with. and he will remain as the most special person to her for the rest of her life.

but the circumstances were so crually against her.

first, she is told that she is simply a phase, a nobody, for the great man that spock is going to become.

how heartbreaking and humiliating it must have felt? the reality hit her mercilessly, telling her that the only way she can protect herself is by staying true to her principle of never letting anyone too close.

then she is thrown down to memory lane of wartime horrors. her resurfaced ptsd making her attachment issues worse.

and how could she confide her deepest fears and traumas to the man who apparently is going to forget all about her? she apparently doesn't mean much to him so how could she confess to him something so meaningful?

so after all this emotional turmoil, christine suddenly sees the light at the end of the tunnel - the fellowship. her dreams of doing research in bio-medical field are coming true!

her dopamine levels are elevated! she is elated, euphoric! of course she is! this is the only thing she can hold onto at this point! bc she knows the love of her life is not going to be there for her forever.

so when he confronts her for distancing herself again, she decides to be the one who walks away before he has the opportunity to hurt her as it is written in the stars.

(there might be much more going on between spock and christine throughout their lives than we know of, they might get back together after post-tos!movies' timeline, so i'm not saying christine actually doesn't mean anything to spock in the future, i'm explaining her pov and what she believes in right now.)
