Fancast: The High Republic (Phase 1)
So I got to thinking about THR fancasts and dug up this fancast. Some I agree with, others I don't :)
Avar Kriss - Jodie Whittaker
Okay, this is the same as the fancast link but I do love it. The cover image of Light of the Jedi looks like it was based on Jodie anyhow and I rather like Jodie so, yeah, I am so cool with that :)
Stellan Gios - Rahul Kohli
A lot of fancasts have him as white-presenting / European and... eh. Like yeah, Ben Barnes definitely fits a lot of headcanons but we've got enough white men in Star Wars, give me something different.
Plus, the official art of Stellan is not European presenting at all; he looks way more Middle Eastern or South Asian. Then I thought about the absolute geek god that is Rahul Kohli and was like YES. THIS MAN FOR STELLAN GIOS.
Elzar Mann - Ryan Guzman or Manny Jacinto
I am so annoyed that there really isn't a lot of official art of Elzar but I am glad that the pieces we do have (particularly the cover of Light of the Jedi) show that he is NOT white presenting. I demand brown chaotic disaster Jedi.
If we were to go Latino, I'd say Ryan Guzman but think I'd be with Southeast Asian Elzar, too. I'd say Manny Jacinto if he wasn't already in The Acolyte. Mmhmmm... (Yeah both of these actors could stand to see more sun but eh. I blame America's colorism for keeping darker skinned actors/actresses out of the spotlight.)
Ram Jomaram - Jacob Batalon
The instant I met Ram in the books, I thought of Jacob Batalon aka Ned from the Mavel/Sony Spider Man movies.
Indeera Stokes - Angela Bassett
I mean, Indeera's a badass and Angela Bassett is fucking Angela Bassett, badass of baddasses. So... it works.
Some of the others in the original link...
Chancellor Lina Soh - Michelle Yeoh
YES YES FUCKING YES to this one. She's my favorite fancast for Satele Shan but yeah, her energy would SO WORK for the Chancellor.
Cohmac Vitus - Naveen Andrews
Ugh. So perfect. Like, image for image perfect.
Leox Gyasi - Matthew McConaughey
Literal perfection considering Leox is based on Matthew McConaughey per Justina Ireland.

I simply can’t find the words to describe how hard Star Wars hits emotionally after you’ve lost a parent. So much of Star Wars is about healing the relationship between a parent and a child, about growing up and realizing that your parents are just as flawed as you are, about parents overcoming their personal trauma and being able to express how they feel for their children in a way they’ve never been able to before. And it really wasn’t until I lost my dad in 2016 right before rogue one came out that I noticed that pervasive theme, before I had lost a parent I really didn’t understand how difficult it is to face.
And that’s why I started my podcast, why I have grown so attached to rogue one, why this film and now andor have become so important to me. I needed to be able to talk about it, to talk about grief and loss and my dad and all of his demons and flaws. And that catharsis in healing is what the Star Wars community has brought to me, and I couldn’t be more grateful

Clone fancast
So we're not likely to get a Clone Wars live action remake.
But if we did...
I broke @amorfista by suggesting Beulah Koale.
What a beautiful man he is.
Can you picture it?

Okay real quick bc I need to go to sleep but just found this Star Wars info-graphic book (Star Wars Super Graphic: A Visual Guide to a Galaxy Far, Far Away) and
This thing is a fucking gold mine and surprisingly interesting (this one was for characters lightsaber colors)
It's from 2017 so it has some out-of-date stuff but look at my girls
Not sure if Ezra is doing ok but I love the Hera & Sabine here
And there's some stuff I hate here because why are the married/literally married people the worst-ranked? and Quinlan/Asajj should not be ranked that high good lord
Mostly just very unserious stuff I like it
I would've eaten that book up if I had it as a kid
And I'm not sure if it's all 100% canon but it actually has some really interesting stuff
There's a Jedi council info-graphic that has everything I've been looking for it's really cool
A thing about this one tho bc I like it and yet
This being the only canon image of Tholme? hilarious. The yellow lovers line? villain origin story. They were just working really hard on promoting Dark Disciple two years after it came out out because it only sold 2 copies don't worry about it guys (Also Tholme is well and alive? no idea what this is talking about Asajj never even met him she told me herself)
yeah that was it good night

Tumblr ate my last post I think so let’s try it again
A friendly reminder that the rogue one reshoots were not as extensive or game changing as people like to say they were. I hear people say all the time that before the reshoots the crew of rogue one was supposed to live, and that’s just not the case (as much as I wish that were true)
I highly recommend listening to this interview with Hal, he has some really good insights on the making of the movie and a résumé in filmmaking that you just won’t believe. The rest of the podcast is pretty good too if you want to give it a shot, just in my opinion
Tweet text (in response to someone asking to see rogue one scenes before the reshoots): In the broadest view, it didn't change that much. They steal the plans, they all die. That was always the story. Structurally what changed was combining the comms tower with the vault building, which in turn changed what the rebels out in the jungle are doing. Editor Jabez Olssen pitched the Vader scene, which had not been part of the film prior. This all caused lots of editorial, structural and dialog changes. Gilroy directed most of the additional shooting, except for the Vader scene, which Gareth directed (and appeared in).
