District Nine Writers’ Guild was created to encourage and support fanfic writers in the Stray Kids fandom through reblogging their work to our virtual "bookshelf", sharing writing advice and tips, hosting collaborative events, and providing a welcoming and safe community for writers to share their work and engage with one another. D9W 2022 - starlight

District Nine Writers’ Guild proudly presents its first biannual writing event . . . 

D9W 2022 — Starlight.

Inspired by Stray Kids’ annual compilation albums and presentations, together we’ll release an “album” of our own showcasing our writing! While a bit vague, like a star seen from afar, the theme for the “album” is starlight. 

This event is for members and non-members, meaning anyone may sign up to contribute to the final “album.” The fic you write is your song on the album. We’ll be posting the “album” (a masterlist) with links to everyone’s fics.

the admins would like to reassure you that the network is still active. this post is informational and contains nothing that should cause undue anxiety. we ask that current members, in particular, carefully read this post and review the net's rules.

hi, everyone! due to the admins' busy schedules and evolving lives. we've decided to reevaluate a few things with district nine writers' guild. after considering both our members' experience in the network and, frankly, the admins' sanity, there are some changes that will go into effect immediately. after all, this whole writing thing should be enjoyable!

d9w's goal remains to support and encourage fanfic writers in the stray kids fandom through reblogging their work, sharing writing advice and tips, hosting collaborative events, and providing a welcoming and safe space.

current members

all current members of district nine writers' guild who wish to remain in the network are required to reapply. this is largely a formality, but anyone who does not reapply will be removed from our members page. of course, you are welcome to reapply during the next rounds of applications. (anyone removed from the network due to violation of network guidelines—excluding inactivity—may not reapply).

the network's discord server

we're sorry to have to do this, but d9w's discord server will be retired by the end of 2022. at this point, we have very little interaction within the server and we'd like to again focus on the tumblr side of the net where it started.

writers' rooms

we've loved the writers' rooms, we really have, but sometimes good things must come to an end. so, we will be discontinuing the bi-weekly writers' rooms. this change is intended to relieve actual or perceived pressure on members and allow them to focus on more substantial works.

membership and participation requirements

members will be required to participate in at least two (2) network events per year.

in addition to the usual fic info member, word count, and warnings, members will tag the network on their fics to ensure a reblog. (as we all know, the tag gods on here are fickle at best).

to ensure your fic is reblogged, send the link to your fic to the net or one of the admins directly.

network collaborations & events

d9w will hold four (4) to six (6) events per year. they may be seasonal, themed, celebratory, or collaborative. again, members will be required to participate in at least two (2) events per year.

writing advice, tips, & "troubleshooting"

the network will periodically post writing advice and tips for our members. both admins have experience as writing tutors... and, of course, fic writers themselves. got a specific question or just want to run an idea by someone? feel free to send the net or admins an ask or dm!

𝐈𝐧 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐡 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐨𝐧𝐞'𝐬 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐞 𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐧𝐟𝐚𝐥𝐥.

ℝ𝕖𝕢𝕦𝕖𝕤𝕥𝕖𝕕 𝕓𝕪 ➳ 𝐀𝐧𝐨𝐧.

Lush carpets patterned red and gold embellished the floor beneath their feet. Chandeliers made of fine glass, carved into the most ravishing shapes adorned the ceiling of the room, though left unused for months. The opulent room barely had any light radiating through it, more than half of most of the walls cold and shrouded in darkness.

Except for one spot, right in the middle of the room where sat a single chair with a candle stand perched beside it, a single flame dancing to the waves of drafts entering through the cracks of the doors and windows.

There, on the chair, sat a woman. A killer, a spy, an assassin.

The sharp clash of skin hitting skin resonated through the room followed by an unrestrained cry of pain.

"I won't ask again. Who are you and who do you work for?" The man bent over your tied up figure, intimidating eyes staring deep into your vulnerable ones.

"You can keep wasting your time but I will be of no use to you," You spat, smirking.

"Your death is imminent, girl, there's no point in keeping secrets anymore," The man barked, body flinging around so fast, the clinking medals and badges pinned on his chest threatened to fly off.

"You can hit me, you can kill me, but you won't have a shadow of a trace about me," You chuckled at his naivety.

Oh, not the naivety about the fact that he was aimlessly interrogating you.

The naivety about the fact that the head of the palace guard was dumb enough to keep a candlestand at arm's length to an assassin.

Before the balding man even knew what was going to hit him, your leg pushed the stand straight at him as his eyes shrouded themselves in panic, arms aimlessly reaching out to stop it from crashing onto him.

Oops, too late for that.

Your hands skillfully freed themselves from the flimsy knots of the jagged ropes they had tied onto you as you sprung up from the god-awfully uncomfortable chair and made a lunge for the blankets on the bed, the guard clearly still occupied by the puny stand.

He would be occupied for a long time considering he was almost on fire.

With one last glance at the man to check if he was still occupied, you bundled up the layers of blankets you had gathered and tied them to the most secure piece of furniture you could find, a heavy dresser, one you would be sure wouldn't move, let alone tip over the window during your escape.

Until you were done, the man had dealt with the fire, most of his white clothes now covered in ashes. Cracking his neck, he lunged at you in a heartbeat, but knowing the atypical move, you simply moved out of his way. Landing on the ground with a thump and a huff, he tried to get back up only to be held down by your leg on his back.

"Let's pretend you're still aimlessly interrogating me, shall we?" You smirked, simply knocking him out with one kick to the back of his head with your heavy black boots.

Now that your first problem was dealt with, it was time to get to the next, much harder step.

The hotel was covered with security on each and every inch of it, not one blind spot in the cameras nor one unfulfilled spot from the guards. As soon as you jumped down from the window, you would essentially be surrounded by enemies who wouldn't skip a heartbeat in lunging for you. Your best chance of escape would be to make a run for it as soon as you landed.

So that was what you considered to be your plan.

With one deep breath of preparation, your sweaty palms gripped the blanket and tugged it near the window. Popping it open wasn't too difficult, albeit the height it was situated in was.

It was on the sixteenth floor, not quite enough blankets to support your jump from.

Still, you held your breath and with one last look back at the trashed hotel room, you took your jump.

Rather than sliding through the blanket which gave the guards more time to spot you, you had been gripping right at the end of the rope of blankets, hoping they would be able to catch you midair and get you down at least halfway before you'd have to climb the rest of your way down.

With a claw-like grip on the soft material under your fingers, gravity propelled your body straight towards the ground, freezing cold air whizzing past your ears and hair whipping around your face wildly in a frenzy. With sharp eyes cast onto the ball of unfolding blankets, you held your breath until the last of it unwinded, hoping and praying your wrists would be able to take the sudden and heavy tug your body was going to apply on the blanket.

You were just a little too late to realise that they, in fact, weren't as strong as you had perceived them to be. Not after you had been starved for a week.

With a cry of shock, each of your fingertips left the cotton stuffed material until nothing was holding you in place. There was nothing around you but pure, freezing air and your most terrifying emotion, fear.

With widened eyes, you watched the blanket grow further and further away from you until you were sure the ground was right beneath you.

You went wrong with that prediction, however, because instead of your back meeting the cold, hard ground, it met with heavy painted metal and glass with a clang.

You had landed right on a car.

Your back had flared up with severe pain, travelling straight through every single neuron of your body, making you freeze for a solid minute as black spots littered your vision and deemed it entirely dysfunctional.

When you came back to your senses, it was already too late.

The owners of the car had already sprung out from under your weight and pulled out their guns, following the alerted guards by the side of the hotel.

It was just your luck to have fallen straight onto the very car belonging to the crown prince.

His rounded eyes stared deep into yours with confusion, and maybe you were just assuming things, but you thought that perhaps for a second, there was a smidge of concern shrouded in them.

The dimpled cheeks you had so mapped out from the pictures you had memorised were turned into a deep frown and his face overall, covered in wrinkles of hatred.

You had literally and figuratively landed yourself straight onto the crown prince, Bang Chan's hands, who in fact,

There she stood amongst a crowd of her classmates, eyes crinkled and lips stretched into a contagious smile, star crossed orbs following her best friend's as she swung about her arms in excitement.

There he stood amongst a secluded group leaning against the blue-painted school gate, staring out into the bustling road, paying no heed towards the obnoxiously loud howls and giggles emitting from the rest of his friends as they swung their arms around each other's shoulders and brawled over each other.

She watched as he simply stood, rejecting his friend's pleas to go along with them to yet another one of their outings, opting to go home instead.

He watched as one by one, each of her friends bid goodbye and walked away, leaving her all alone, searching for someone to hang about with. When she finally concluded that there was no one else she could approach, she simply turned and started her short walk home.

From the corner of her eyes, she spotted him simply trailing her from a few feet away, but made no move to get closer to her, nor did he change direction.

Through the dangerously busy road and the crooked footpath littered with leaves that crunched underfoot, the two walked in silence, each of them keeping their distance simply waiting for the other to pass.

She watched as he trailed back further and further, until finally as she reached the end of the short walk, she could barely spot him turning the corner into the same street.

'He must like walking alone.' She thought as she turned one last time to look back before she went down the nearly parallel ramp leading to the dark and damp walls of her apartment's basement.

He held back and watched as she descended the ramp, skidding to a stop each time she thought she was going to topple over when she walked a little too fast. His star-struck orbs followed her as she walked deep into the unlit basement with her head down until she disappeared, merely a shadow under the sunlit wisps of smoke.

'She must hate walking alone.' He thought to himself as he moved away from her basement's entrance.

In all honesty, he hated walking alone. He hated the noisy streets and the drag of his feet every time he tripped over one of the more crooked stones laid down on the footpath. He hated the annoying silence he'd have to deal with every time his thoughts got a little too loud.

All Seungmin wanted was to walk you home.

A/N: Week 2 of my writer's room entry!

Cold, damp dirt under his limbs, brown clumps of moist soil clutching onto the space between his fingernails, moist moss and loose ferns clumping into his grown-out, messy hair and glazed eyes cast skywards, a boy lay on the dark trenches of the earth, wallowing in grief.

His foxy, glazed eyes were cast skyward yet distant as if looking far further than just the sky. As if attempting to look beyond.

His breaths shook every time he tried to calm himself, and as if the forest was mimicking him, the dark silhouettes of age-old trees swayed and drifted to the drafts.

The forest mimicked as he dug his hand into the dirt, feeling and feeling until he was almost sure the forest floor was embracing him by entangling its thin roots onto his fingers.

The forest mimicked as it rang out with the sound of a bird, a sound that mimicked the exact beeping in his ears as it rang again and again, an agonising memory piercing his entire being making him want to embrace someone.

Someone he lost.

Someone lost in time.

So he pushed it away, pushed it away until all he felt was the cold yet delicate embrace of the forest, as it welcomed a lost traveller as its own creation, as its own being.

⥃Stray Kids Masterlist

Minho’s eyes basked in the raw beauty of the early morning, as the world prepared to stir and awake for their jobs, yet lay sound asleep for just a few more moments of their comfort in bed.

The weather sent a chill running down his whole body as tiny, supple beads of water droplets fell through the lightest shade of blue yet darkened sky. Even through the damp weather, birds spread their wings wide overhead and flew gracefully, perching themselves on the windowsills of tall buildings, little chirps and noises of the waking world bleeding and blending into the music that enveloped his ears and captivated his mind. He had wanted the music to be there as a method to tune out his thoughts, yet it blended in like the perfect background music as the world rose from its slumber.

Minho savoured every memory, every smell, every touch, engraining it deep into his memory like an instruction never to be forgotten.

He savoured the ticking time as it passed by. As people awoke, dressed up and drowsily walked out of their doors, as if clinging on to the last lingering moments of spending time in the comfort of their homes before they came back again when the world prepared to put itself to sleep, weary and unstable.

Some walked alongside dogs of all sizes and breeds, those that prowled the streets as if it was their own and those that shield away behind their owners, feeling small and weak in front of the world.

Minho savoured these moments and cherished them until the first rays of daylight poked through the little gaps between the vibrant green leaves and filtered into the soil. Savoured them until the damp weather turned warm as the sky stopped weeping to give way for the happy rays of light to bleed into the world.

Minho savoured and cherished the waking world until he turned back into the dark depths of his own home, where nothing but his suffocating thoughts would confine him into a dark space, until the next morning, when the world would open its eyes again.
