it's cool that this is how they represented damian's feelings towards anya!
anya probably knows what romantic feelings are (or at least what admiration looks like — i mean she wouldn't say "chichi to haha icha icha" if she didn't understand what was going on), but i think her interpretation is limited by the other person's perception of their own feelings.
and that's how we get damianya: a dense rich boy and a telepath who can't get a proper read of his mind

i’m thankful for episode 6 not just for the anya punch, but because we saw yor and anya’s dynamic when loid is out of the picture. yor can protect anya physically, obviously, but it’s when anya validates her that she begins to think, hey, maybe i can be my own version of a mother to my stepdaughter, maybe this is what i can provide to her.
and anya accepts anything she is given, because she was robbed of maternal love before she even learned the term for it, and now that she’s found it in yor, she would do anything to hold on to it like her chimera stuffed toy which, for anya, is the closest thing to a living family member.

anya has been kidnapped twice—on screen. and we can only imagine how horrible the lab's environment was for her. yet she turned out more upbeat than her past experiences would allow, literally subverting the usual traumatized-kid-with-a-superpower character trope.
this is not to say that endo makes light of these experiences. if anything, i'd say he actually shows its side effects on anya, but subtly: in episode two, when anya asks if she would be sold off; in episode six, when anya hides behind loid and asks if there are kidnappers in the restaurant.
but we just laugh it off. after all, we can attribute her behavior to the spy show she's watching, or the fact that being kidnapped is a basic human fear. her fears look normal, usual, something we have feared ourselves. but placed in the context of her childhood, she shouldn't be able to sleep as soundly as she did in episode one, in the house of loid, a total stranger.
because anya doesn't dwell on the bad things that have happened to her. rather, she smiles, and simply focuses on helping loid achieve world peace - literally the one thing the lab people conditioned her for.
and i think, the message here isn't "laugh even in the face of adversity," but rather, "you don't know what anyone else has gone through - so be kind."

now that i have calmed down i wanna briefly talk about this lil speech bubble on chapter 62.3
Tumblr media
id: "oh, that's right. we still have plenty of onions. what should i make?"
a few pages ago, this is what twilight's recruiter said:
Tumblr media
id: "this whole world is one giant onion. big and round, with one false layer after another. and if you cut through those layers of lies...there are gonna be tears."
the forger family being fully stocked with onions symbolizes how many lies each family member has filled the house with, just to ensure that they are a normal, functioning family.
but nothing that was founded on lies lasted forever. a single lie breaks trust, and someone once told me that trust precedes love. because love is personal. it's something you wouldn't share with a stranger.
sure, all three of them have harbored some sort of attachment to each other, and i think we can safely assume that loid and yor would be easier on anya once her secret's out. they might even be more protective of her.
but friction between loid and yor looks inevitable. especially if their agencies would be involved. as franky mentioned:
Tumblr media
id: "i mean, doesn't that freak you out? they have no idea if they're being told the truth. but once the idea's in their head, they do a complete 180. weird, right?"
i honestly don't know how their relationship would unfold, but suppose they chose each other in the end. for anya's sake. and maybe because they fell in love with each other. it's the ending that we all want.
but it's hard to outgrow habits. it would only take one deviation from their usual routine for suspicion to take its root.
in psychology, there's this thing called triangulation in families. it happens when two parties cannot directly talk with each other, so as a result, a third party would serve as their communication channel, and this third party would be put under an extra layer of stress.
we already saw a glimpse of it on chapter 14, if only anya weren't a telepath and weren't emotionally mature, if only loid had held on to his suspicions.
it's the formula for dysfunctional families. the complete opposite of what they had all tried hard to maintain before the cat got out of the bag.
a complete 180.
and there are gonna be tears.
but i don't wanna be in tears. i trust shihei lin to prevent endo from drawing the saddest possible outcome.

if anya's not part of the scene, it means the writer does not want us to know what the present characters are thinking. yet. or he wants to show how good twilight is at extracting information just from a single conversation.
