📖 Book Review: Ruined by Amy Tinterra. YA fantasy. First book in the Ruined trilogy. Swipe for my full thoughts, but TLDR; I loved this fast paced YA fantasy. While I wished it explored more of the world and Ruined, it was still a great read. I could barely put it down. I cannot wait to finally read the sequels and am kicking myself for putting them off for so long. I was able to read and review an early copy and I'm so grateful to the publisher, thank you Simon & Schuster! #LostBookoftheWhite Q: Would you rather be a Shadowhunter, warlock, faerie, vampire, or werewolf? 🗡 I think I'd want to be a Shadowhunter because fighting evil and saving the world is a pretty sweet gig. Full review of The Lost Book of the White on the blog NOW. (Link in bio!) FYI this book is set September 2010, so as long as you've read City of Heavenly Fire and Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy, you're good to go. I can't wait to receive my finished copies - I ordered the UK Illumicrate matching Red Scrolls and Lost Book hardcover copies, and the special edition FaeCrate box. I missed the preorder for the Waterstones rune edition so if anyone has an extra, hit ya girl up pls. I need a copy for my collection. In the middle of August, two friends and I went update NY to the Catskills for a week and it was amazing to getaway, even if it wasn't very far. This photo was taken at #Opus40, a sculpture park in the Hudson Valley! It was very cool to visit and felt very magical - hence why I decided to take my Lost Book of the White photo here. It was great that the park sold a very limited amount of tickets for each time slot, so it felt like we had the park to ourselves. ★ Have you finished any series yet this year? Are you planning to finish any in March? Yeah, yeah – I’m showing these beauties off again. 😂 I finally built up the courage to read A Sky Beyond the Storm by @sabaatahir in early Janaury. I was NOT ready for the Ember Quartet to end, okay? This was one of the very first fantasy series I dove into, in fact, and helped me discover that I actually loved the genre more than I ever thought I would. Sky was a thrilling and sastisfying, if at times heartbreaking, ending to the story. I will miss these characters so much! This year (so far) I've also finished the Glass Alliance trilogy, as well as The Queen's Rising, Rime Chonricles ,and The Devouring Gray duologies! I haven’t been active much lately because of university but happy first of the month! ✨I still can’t believe 2020 is almost over. Time flew by so fast but I’m pretty sure we’re all ready for this year to be over, right? 🙈 Anywho, I wanted to share my current read which is Not That I Could Tell by Jessica Stawser. Halfway in and let me tell you, I didn’t think I’d enjoy it as much as I did. Today's #SignedBookSundays theme is Conventions, Concerts, & Events... all of which I'm missing desperately right now - so of course I had to feature my favorite con book, #Geekerella! These are just a handful of my many, many, MANY convention badges - I've been attending cons since 2007, and I still have all my badges. Q: Have you ever been to a convention or concert? What has been your favorite? I know its hard to pick just one. I was supposed to go to Book Con in June, but that was understandably cancelled. I planned to go to New York Comic Con in the fall but while that hasn't been cancelled yet, I honestly cannot see it happening. Fun fact, in digging through my con badges, I found my NYCC badge from 2008 and it was made of PAPER. And STAR WARS on it! (They've had The Walking Dead on their badges since....for...ever? basically. So I was shocked to see what badges looked like in 2008!) Throwback. The photographs at the bottom? Just a few of my cosplays. Terra from Teen Titans, the Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland (cyberpunk style), and Harley Quinn from Suicide Squad. Do you cosplay? I miss cosplaying. I basically live at concerts (and more recently, Broadway shows!) before -gestures around- everything. So yeah, I'm really out of my element staying HOME 24/7. My last concert before everything shut down was American Authors at Webster Hall in NYC - and, pun intended, it was "The Best Day Of My Life" (that's the title of an American Authors song LOL). And I saw Lion King on Broadway as my last Broadway show. I'm also really glad I was able to travel to Austria/Germany in December, and Orlando, FL and go to Universal in February!
