#starting of course with the sigil scene

Has the sigil been beaten to death? Yes. Am I going to write a small essay about it anyway? Also yes.
The sigil is such a monumental piece of the story, guys. No matter who you ship, Arthur giving Merlin his mother’s sigil is outrageously important to the validation of their relationship and to Arthur’s character growth, AND a view into his evolving perception of his traitorous family, which is probably why they were cut bc why would we want THAT. I will explain.
Arthur resists verbalizing his friendship with Merlin so much, but he says a lot more with his actions - sacrificing himself for Merlin time and again, confiding in him, keeping him close even though he’s not really supposed to. The sigil is a tangible piece of himself that he gives to Merlin, inviting him into his family and reminding him, even if he can’t quite do it with words, how close they really are.
But his FAMILY. I think that Arthur’s perception of his family is really starting to shift here. He doesn’t give Merlin something that makes him a Pendragon. He doesn’t give him his father’s ring or a dagger encrusted with the symbol of the dragon. He gives him his MOTHER’S sigil, the symbol of the bird, which is of course very symbolic of the relationship between Uther and Ygraine vs. Arthur and Merlin, but it also means that Arthur doesn’t want to associate Merlin with the side of the family that connects via his father - Uther and Morgana, ruthless and hard and traitorous. Arthur didn’t know that Agravaine had betrayed him yet. He wants Merlin to be family, but I think he wants to try everything he can to associate Merlin with the soft bits of his family history - the memory of a kind, gentle mother and a loyal uncle. This, to me, suggests that Arthur is really feeling his own departure from his father’s ways and trying to find a part of himself that was maybe like his mother instead. That would have been important if Merlin had told him about his magic earlier, because Arthur maybe wouldn’t have wanted to react as his father would have.
I just think keeping the scene in would have changed everything about the show from that point on. WHICH IS WHY IT IS CANON IN MY HEAD.

Endeavour & Joan - Missing Scene
It all started with this print (© The Red Dress London on Etsy):
Tumblr media
I noticed that the moment depicted between Endeavour and Joan was not included in Season 6, which this artwork was commissioned to advertise. I didn't think much about it until the wonderful @sircolinmorgan posted this image from shutterstock:
Tumblr media
Finally! Evidence that the deleted scene existed! But where from? Some investigation was required...
Okay, so when lightened up a bit, what you can tell just from that pic alone is that there’s a blackboard in the background, someone sitting at a desk, and you can see the edge of a camp bed (you can also see that she’s holding his other hand!) All of that of course suggests ‘Deguello’ and the aftermath of the tower collapse in the gymnasium. As far as I can tell there’s only one scene in the episode at this location and it’s when Endeavour escorts a child to a waiting parent and then Strange and Thursday are there and reach for him (quite a lovely caring moment):
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Compare the first of these three pics and you’ll see the blackboard, the person at the desk, and that the blue area in the shutterstock pic is the privacy screen next to the blackboard.
Endeavour is wearing his blue shirt that’s consistent with both images, but he never takes his jacket off in the actual scene and it’s very odd that Strange touches Endeavour’s shoulder and he turns around, only for the scene to immediately cut to the makeshift morgue scene with DeBryn. You never see another scene at that location as far as I can tell. Does that imply something was cut there? The shutterstock pic shows Joan at that location, but she was never there in the episode.
The next scene with Endeavour is when he visits the little girl in hospital and meets Joan there:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Their conversation is extremely brief with Joan telling Endeavour he should be at home:
Morse: I wanted to see if she was all right. How is she? How's her mum?
Joan: Hanging in there. You should be home.
Morse: Home. So should she. So should her mother. So should everyone.
Joan: Accidents happen.
Morse: Yeah, not like this. You know, somebody's got to be responsible. Is there anything I can do?
Joan: You've done your bit and more.
Morse: Good night.
Joan: Good night.
Joan is of course wearing the same as in the shutterstock pic. The next time we see Joan she runs into Endeavour when he’s investigating the surveyor and she’s changed clothes:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
They talk about the survivors and then have this little exchange:
Joan: How are things with you?
Morse: Oh, one day's much the same as the next.
Joan: I didn't mean work, I meant you.
Morse: Oh, it's the same thing, isn't it? Have you seen your father lately?
Joan: Not much. Why?
Morse: Well, I just wondered if he was all right. He hasn't seemed himself lately.
Joan: Oh.
Morse: Anyway, there it is.
It’s extremely halting and Endeavour leaves looking all awkward and uncomfortable. Make of that what you will because neither of the filmed scenes between Endeavour and Joan play like they could have had such a close moment as in the shutterstock pic with Joan touching his face and holding his hand. Obviously one was switched out, but it seems to me the entire tenor of their interaction in 'Deguello' was changed. These are the only scenes they had together and Joan isn’t in the rest of the episode or the next season for that matter! I wonder if it played a part that Sara Vickers wasn’t available - I have no idea how far in advance they could have known. It's also possible they felt that a romantic moment would have been out of place in the midst of a tragedy, or perhaps they simply decided against allowing Endeavour and Joan to be close. No matter the reason, it's a real shame - it looked like a beautiful scene!
Anyway, that was my little Sherlockian endeavour (snort!) into the missing Endeavour/Joan moment everyone was robbed of. I think it’s probably much like the sigil scene in BBCs ‘Merlin’ where a totally different version was filmed with a very different feel, and we don’t know why that was swapped out either! Damn my favourite shows.

FHJY New Names over-analysis post
We're a few days past an episode that introduced a lot of new npcs and ideas and all, and I figured I'd dig into some of the names and references and all that I noticed to see if any hints might have been snuck in there for the rest of the season.
Interim Emergency Backup Principal Arcturus Grix: A couple of different things in here, but I'll just get what I think is the most likely one out of the way: Arcturus is a star that is part of the constellation Bootes (a herdsman in various myths), and the name translates to 'guardian of the bear'.
Or, perhaps, guardian of the owlbears.
Brennan absolutely seems like someone who would have at some point been way into constellations and their stories so I'd put money on this being an intentional stealth-ish pun.
I think Grix is just supposed to sound machine-y but I might be missing it.
Terpsichore Skullcleaver: Back on the Greek mythology theme, Terpsichore is one of the Greek Muses, and specifically is the Muse of Dance. Obviously a wildly appropriate name for a dance teacher who is hopefully going to actually inspire Fabian.
Skullcleaver presumably means she is of some relation to Katja, of course.
Lucillia Lullaby: I mean, this one is pretty obvious; a Lullaby is a type of song, and from what she saw she seems to be a pretty calming presence to suit attempting to get a toddler to sleep as that song type does. This name was actually, unlike the two above, on the payroll list from freshman year so it's a lot more directly on the nose (because, frankly, Brennan was coming up with like 30 npcs who would probably never appear).
Tiberia Runestaff: Runestaff similarly is just kind of obvious and also was on the freshman year list; Tiberia as a name literally just means born near the river Tiber, and so I think was chosen mostly because it sounds kind of severe and wizard-y.
Yolanda Badgood: Also from the freshman year list, and I suppose it would take someone both bad and good to teach students of both 'good' and 'evil' divinities. Brennan's gotten better at his NPC names over the years, or just it's hard to do a freaking list. I sympathize, as someone who keeps a random name generator tab open while GMing. Also, on a random note, the freshman year list has a driver's ed teacher (one Alphonse Doublefist) and I NEED a scene of Fig having to take driver's ed because she's been driving without a license for two years.
Mazey Phaedra: Mazey is such a groanworthy name for a minotaur-adjacent person that I'm surprised they didn't throw things at him for it; Phaedra is another Greek myth name, this one of the daughter of Minos (of building-the-maze fame) and also a whole other thing we don't have time to get into because it might start Discourse and that probably isn't relevant because it's really just another Minotaur reference.
CUS Dabus: One of the universities Riz looks at, I mostly want to call it out because of being a reference to my personal favorite official DnD setting. It's mentioned as being in the City of Doors, which is the nickname of course of the extra-planar city of Sigil. The Dabus are a race that are the entourage of the mysterious Lady of Pain, the very-definitely-not-a-god who loosely rules over that city. I doubt we ever really visit Sigil, but who knows, we've been to the Nine Hells and the cosmological stuff seems to largely conform to traditional DnD.

Round 1 Match 8
Tumblr media
PROPAGANDA (under the readmore):
Samfro:
There honestly isn’t an coherent way I can put their relationship, so I will be placing quotes said between the two characters that illustrates their love for one another: “I made a promise, Mr. Frodo. A promise. "Don't you leave him, Samwise Gamgee." And I don't mean to." “Don't go where I can't follow." “Frodo wouldn't have got far without Sam" <- Frodo pretending he is telling their story and the fucking tender look he gives Sam and how he calls Sam heroic and how Sam wants to do an uno reverse and *unholy screeching* ugh 🥺
Merthur:
“Two Sides Of The Same Coin” “The Half Cannot Truly Hate That Which Makes It Whole” “Hold Me” Okay. Listen. The prince (and later, king) of Camelot starts talking to his date about how he wishes they could run away together and live on a farm. and bring his best friend Merlin of course, because duh. They are canonical soulmates even when Arthur marries a servant and makes her queen. They drink poison for each other within the first three episodes of season one, and then repeatedly risk their lives for one another. Merlin chooses to constantly betray the safety of himself and other magic users so that he can protect/save Arthur, and Arthur consistently breaks the code of what royalty should do so that he can protect/save Merlin. All the while being completely unaware that Merlin has been protecting him whatsoever!! Also, in a deleted scene, Arthur gives Merlin his mother’s sigil, which effectively associates you with the Pendragon family forever. Merlin is still waiting for Arthur, millennia after he dies, waiting for him to return. Alexander Vlahos said in an interview that “becomes a love story between two men. In a platonic sense, it becomes a brilliant love story between Arthur and Merlin.”

You know the whole hunter having scars on his hand’s theory was an interesting bit. As much as I enjoyed that theory, I feel like the symbolism behind Hunter’s hands in general is just as interesting.
Tumblr media
When we are properly introduced to the Golden Guard in Separate Tides - I know he’s technically in the finale of season one but whatever - we have no clue what he looks like beyond this version of him. He’s confident, bold, and incredibly dangerous. And as much as I enjoy the Golden Guard this version of Hunter it feels like there isn’t a lot to him at this point. We don’t know a lot about him, we don’t even know what he looks like.
Then Hunting Palisman comes along,
Tumblr media
(I picked this screenshot because it amuses me greatly lol) To me this is Hunters actual introduction. We learn a lot about him, and most importantly that there’s clearly a lot more than what meets the eye. The reveal of his face is completely involuntary, and it throws him off his game a lot in my opinion. (haha throws like throws him off the ship- excuse me, my humor is bad ignore me)
Tumblr media
His power at this time is heavily reliant on his persona, the Golden Guard. His age is a big part of this it seems. People aren’t taking him as seriously anymore, not even Luz if we’re being quite honest. He’s just some grumpy kid, and Luz is a huge empath and starts to understand him more and in turn we also get to.
It doesn’t feel like a huge coincidence that when his face is shown we get to see more of him as a person as well.
But there’s another detail about this scene that sticks out to me personally,
Tumblr media
Hunter just shows his wrist. Now this could very well be because his sigil is on his wrist, but it also feels very purposeful. Like nobody's supposed to see his hands.
Hands are very telling of a lot of things. Hands are quite sensitive, hands are quite expressive, and hands can - in my opinion - tell you a lot about someone.
Yet throughout this whole episode Hunter is quite resistant to show any part of himself other than the Golden Guard.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But there's a clear shift when Hunter tells Luz his name. He stops threatening her, and he pulls down his mask. This time by choice. He wants to open up to her, at least a little. And this is the start of Hunters redemption in my mind.
When he starts to let down his guard. However,
Tumblr media
Kikimora strikes him right after he opens up.
Tumblr media
Hunter pulls the mask right back up though. Which, wasn’t really needed? Like you could argue that it was so she wouldn’t recognize him, but she literally says, who’s there. So, it feels like the only reason he did that is because it makes him feel safe, it’s a security tool of sorts. Which makes a lot of sense, he’s a child soldier of course he feels a lack of security.
Their a lot more open with this message in Thanks to Them,
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He acts so much like the Golden Guard throughout this. He’s trying to come across as dangerous, which okay how the hell are you going to fight Belos with a rake in crocs but whatever.
The symbolism of what the mask means to him is made quite clear. As I said before, it makes him feel secure. He’s not as reliant on it anymore, but in the moment it does make him feel better. Confident and sure of himself as Hunter seems to put it.
Now I know, I said I going to talk about his hands and I haven’t really and I’m sorry, I’m getting there.
Tumblr media
One of the most pivotal parts of Hunters arc is arguably Any Sport in a Storm, it’s when he finally smiles and he’s a lot more trusting and happier. His pose is very showing of that, throughout this episode he never hides his face and in this shot he holds out his hands.
His stance is open and welcoming because he genuinely feels that these other kids are people he can trust. He hasn’t had that up to this point other than with Flapjack.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The way he says “I’m your friend now.” is really interesting to me. In his mind he wasn’t their friend before, they were friends with Caleb not Hunter. Which, he’s not completely wrong, he was hiding a lot. However, he was still Hunter. His personality wasn’t any different. But Hunter doesn’t really know how relationships work, he views his relationships only existing if he’s giving the other person something. In this case, it’s a job. Now their friends, because now he’s contributed something. The others don’t view it this way at all though, because it’s not supposed to be this way,
Tumblr media
This is a line that I feel was incredibly important. Hunter isn’t aware this is the case and even after he denies it. But Gus probably more than anyone knows this is true and I think that’s what makes Labyrinth Runners work so well. They both understand what it’s like to be as Gus puts it, stabbed in the back. (Also just like, Wittebros foreshadowing lmao)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gus gets what Hunter been through. The things he’s dealt with are on a much smaller scale next to Hunter’s but it doesn’t take way from them. It makes perfect sense that they’re able to connect like this. That their able to later on be open with each other.
All right lets tie all this together and bring it back to his hands cuz I’ve been getting way to excited about all these other things I keep mentioning and then I want to talk about them for way to long,
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The first time we see Hunters hands is in Thanks to Them. He’s a lot happier throughout this episode and much friendlier and more open with his friends. Of which he now has! (Other than Flapjack of course)
Tumblr media
Every single time, every single fucking time Hunter gets to comfortable it feels like someone rips the rug out from under him. And every single time he goes back to closing himself off from everyone.
This is made apparently clear in For the Future,
Tumblr media
Hunter finally gets it in this episode. I’ve mentioned before that he’s telling everything he’s telling Willow to himself as well as her before: https://at.tumblr.com/royal-they/royal-they-i-feel-like-a-lot-of-people-misread/oyirnb6vph5u
I feel like this is important because while this is a very Willow centric episode - well also a Luz centric episode but like that’s not relevant - Hunter also has a lot of growth in this episode.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The fact that he literally links fingers with Willow and is actually open with his feelings to her and Gus is very telling. That’s the true symbolism of his hands, they’re not just the troubles he’s faced in the past. They’re a symbol of him, his growth, his relationships. They’re not a sign of Belo’s abuse towards him, he’s not held back by it. He’s his own person, and he’s not going to hide that anymore.
That’s too me, why Hunters hands not having scars is actually super important.
(note: this doesn’t mean those who want to interpret him as having scars are discounting any of his character development or saying he’s not his own person separate from his trauma. im just saying that i think his hands not having scars has just as must symbolism, if not more then his hands having scars.)

An Essay on The Owl House’s Huntlow: A Blossoming, Golden Relationship
The Owl House is no stranger to relationships. Couples such as Lumity and Raeda are universally praised for their amazing writing and being a monumental step in LGBTQIA+ representation in the media. Fans loved seeing these relationships develop in such a natural way, and shipping has been a big part of the fandom as they wonder if another couple would become canon. Oddly enough, the show’s newest relationship, Huntlow, (Hunter and Willow Park), has been met with a mixed reaction. Many love it, some are indifferent, and others outright hate it. While the dynamics between them are brief and not very numerous, the ship gets a lot of things right and is quite believable.
Episode Analysis
Any Sport in a Storm
Hunter and Willow meet in Season 2, Episode 13, an episode titled Any Sport in a Storm. The title is a play on words of the expression “any port in a storm”, which is an expression that means you will use whatever means necessary in order to get help in a bad situation. This is exactly what happens with Hunter and Willow. The episode starts off with Hunter sewing his Golden Guard sigil, symbolizing how he wants to restore his title. His uncle, Emperor Belos, tells him he will be in charge of leading the coven heads in a meeting, and states that it will be a test. Hunter finds that the coven heads ignore him and have canceled their meeting. Darius sees Hunter and his half sewn Golden Guard sigil, and he says Hunter doesn’t deserve the sigil and is inferior to his predecessors. Hunter, wanting to prove himself, asks Darius what to do, and Darius replies sarcastically to find new and worthy recruits for the Emperor’s Coven. Hunter tells him he’ll do it, and Darius replies “Of course, you’re good at doing exactly what you’re told.” The introduction to this episode shows how Hunter feels the need to prove himself and defy the expectations of those around him due to the atmosphere he’s grown up in, which further illustrates his social ineptness when he doesn’t understand Darius’s sarcasm.
We cut to Willow and we see her trying to build her self confidence with her working out. She gives herself a pep talk in the mirror, saying she can do this, but then immediately says “right?” with a worried expression. This scene alone shows how she’s worried about failure, just like Hunter. Unlike Hunter, however, she’s able to boost herself up again by looking at a picture of her parents, reminding herself that she has people who love and support her. She gets to school, and we see her confident and excited to start finding recruits for her team at the club fair.
Hunter arrives at Hexside, looking to see if people are interested in joining the Emperor’s Coven. His interactions with some of the students, while quite comical, provide tragic insight for Hunter’s character. We see that he’s been sheltered from normalcy all his life and is unable to understand other teenagers. He talks as if sleeping in until 6:00 am is a privilege and leaving friends and family behind would be no big deal. Due to Hunter’s toxic relationship with Belos, he misunderstands how valuable a true family is, and thinks that other people are just as disattached and abused as he is. Hunter’s interaction with Jerbo showcases Hunter’s fear that Belos might be a bad guy, and this gets Hunter to bump into Puddles.
We cut back to Willow trying to hype up her team, only for the Abomination professor to come up to her and try to make her step down as Captain, or she won’t be able to start her club. Willow and Gus resist, and the Abomination professor states that if she wants to stay as Captain, she needs to get a team together and beat his team. Willow, like Hunter, is also given a test to prove her worth from a person who contributed to their horrible life. Right after this exchange happens, she spots Hunter getting chased by Puddles, who steals Hunter’s shoe. Hunter pulls off some maneuvers to get his shoe back, which results in Willow pulling Hunter down to the ground after escaping Puddles. She asks Hunter if he wants to join the team, introducing herself as a future Captain and complimenting his fly skills. Gus asks why he hasn’t seen Hunter before, which forces Hunter to give himself a fake name. Hunter initially turns down the offer, stating he has his own task to achieve. But upon taking a pamphlet, he sees the “best of the best” description and is convinced he will be able to find people who will want to join the coven. So he decides to try Flyer Derby. Wanting to help, he proposes ways to evaluate participants by listing out trials used in the Emperor’s Coven. Willow and Gus are shocked and disturbed, and Willow tells Hunter to show off his “sick” fly skills. Hunter doesn’t understand the slang, and remarks that he doesn’t feel sick, thinking she was talking about an illness. Again, it further shows how disturbing Hunter’s life is and how his perspective is not normal.
Willow promotes the team, using Hunter as a model, and interest quickly spreads. Willow remarks to herself that he’s great, and that she’ll be able to find good players now. While this is happening, Hunter remarks to himself that she’s a perfect Emperor’s Coven candidate and that he’ll be able to complete his mission if he finds more witches like her. Both of them at this moment are on quests to prove themselves and see each other as hope that they’ll be able to do so.
Willow recruits her team, which Hunter is not impressed by, calling them pathetic based on first impression alone. She states that he should give them a chance, to which Hunter replies that “where [he] comes from, even chances have to be earned, especially if you’re considered half a witch like him.” Upon hearing these words, Willow has a surprised expression. It is at this moment she learns that Hunter is not a bad person, but a kid in a bad situation who needs help. She relates to him because she was also considered to be “half a witch.” So Willow shows Hunter how capable Skara, Viney, and Gus are, and how they were also overlooked but then were able to prove themselves. Willow helps give Hunter a safe space of people that Hunter can relate with.
The team plays the game, and Hunter has a lot of fun, complimenting Gus with an excited smile and goofing around with the Abomination Professor by stealing his flag while he yells at his team. During the game, Willow falls off her Palisman and Hunter has a terrified look on his face. It is interesting because Hunter has dealt with several forms of pain, as seen by Belos and Kikimora’s treatment of him, the scars on his body, and the past painful memories stated earlier in the episode. Willow is the first person Hunter worries over her safety for, which implies a deeper connection compared to anyone else in Hunter’s life up to this point. Hunter is able to retrieve the flag from Willow and they accidentally interlock hands for a brief moment. We also see that Hunter was trying to grab Willow rather than her flag, as his left hand was over most of her hand. Willow creates a flower to get herself to the ground. Hunter is moving slowly, possibly worried about Willow, so Gus has to push him forward. Hunter ends up attaching the flags and wins the game for the team. Thanks to Hunter, Willow was able to achieve her dream of starting a Flyer Derby team. We see Hunter’s growth in defying expectations when he proposes the team name “Emerald Entrails”, since he says “there is more to us than you think.” The team likes the name and Willow takes a selfie with the team, and we see Hunter have a genuine smile.
Hunter talks about how grateful he is, that they gave him a chance too, and that he apologies for doubting them. This is when Hunter reveals his true name and how he’s with the Emperor. Suddenly, several coven guards show up to pick up the recruits. Hunter is shocked by the influx of guards, but then reassures himself that it’ll be ok. He states how the Emperor’s Coven is “the best coven there is”, that they’ll want this, that he’s their friend now, and that they can trust him. Hunter says these things in earnest, thinking that he’s helping his new friends. Gus tells him that “friends don’t stab each other in the back” to which Hunter replies “sure they do, the coven heads do it all the time at the castle.” This scene really highlights how Hunter doesn’t understand friendship and has a twisted perception on what a good relationship is. Hunter asks Willow if he’s on her side, to which Willow blames herself for this situation, saying “we’re here because I made a bad call. I’m just half a witch Willow.” Hunter has a look of shock in the background when she says this, highlighting how he is surprised and upset to see Willow feel bad about herself because of this situation. Willow feels that she failed to help Hunter, whom she knows is a good person in a bad situation, and made a “bad call” in the way she helped him. This scene plants the seed of doubt in Hunter’s mind: that Belos may not be the morally upstanding ruler he thought he was.
Darius takes the recruits, and gives Hunter his sigil back. Hunter looks at it, and with an unsure tone, he says “I can wear this proudly now, right?” Darius then replies “Can you?” This scene shows how Hunter is seeking validation and like Willow, has seemingly proved himself in this scene, but he doesn’t feel good about it. We see Hunter have another conversation with Steve, who recounts how the Emperor Coven trials were brutal and that Belos would take away their palismen. The minute Steve mentions the Palismen, Hunter has a look of horror on his face. From his connection with Flapjack to the fact that the team needs Palismen to play Flyer Derby, he realized what he had done. Hunter is filled with regret, and gets on Flapjack to fly towards Darius’s ship as fast as he can. He lands on the ship, yelling at Darius and pointing Flapjack at his face. Palismen are forbidden in the Emperor’s Coven, and yet Hunter shows Flapjack off to Darius, which could be dangerous for himself. For one of the first times in his life, Hunter is being completely selfless and only caring about his friends’ safety.
The team escapes and the ship crashes. Darius uses Abomination goo to surround them and summons an axe to potentially kill the team. Willow stands guard, ready to defend Viney, Skara, and Gus, but Hunter runs in front of Willow, telling Darius to stop. Darius tells Hunter to move out of the way with a scary face and tone, as well as the words “little Prince.” Hunter tells Darius “no” and that the team is not fit for the Coven, and that he doesn’t deserve the sigil, dropping it to the ground. Hunter could have gotten the title he so desperately wanted at the beginning of the episode, but decides to give it up. It’s a monumental moment in Hunter’s arc, because we see that he has other desires besides serving Belos: one of those things being doing the right thing. Hunter tells Willow she can go, and we see Willow hold back her tears. Despite having her life threatened mere moments ago, she is more upset and worried about what will happen to Hunter. He just stood up to a man who has an ax, and from her assumptions about Hunter’s life, it is very likely that Hunter will be killed. She’s left with a dilemma and is hesitant to leave Hunter, but Hunter begs her to, saying “Please Captain.” Upon hearing these words, Willow decides to leave with the team, stating that they need to find a new player because “it’ll be 52 weeks before Caleb’s next day off.” This line implies a sense of forgiveness, which is something that Hunter has not received from anyone, not even Luz or Amity, and it causes Hunter to blush and look at Willow with wide eyes. Willow forgave him because she sees that despite Hunter’s terrible life, he was able to stand up to his environment very quickly. Willow would appreciate that due to her experience with Amity, who took years to make amends for what she did to Willow. She also probably related to Hunter’s need to prove himself to someone he didn’t like, as she did something similar in Hootys Moving Hassle. In that episode, Willow peer pressured Luz into doing a conjuring in order to prove herself to Amity, who bullied her for her lack of magic. Similar to how Darius seemingly looked down on Hunter for his lack of magic, at least that’s how Hunter interprets it.
Hunter is touched by Willow’s forgiveness, because in a sense, he feels that he failed his friends because of his betrayal. But Willow forgave his failure and implies how she hopes to see him again, as “Caleb” rather than the Golden Guard. Willow is the only person at this moment who treats Hunter like a person first. Darius, seemingly angered by what Hunter did, winds up like he’s about to hit Hunter, to which Hunter braces for. Again, Hunter is willing to die in order to keep the team safe. Thankfully, Darius instead expresses how he’s impressed with what Hunter did, and fixes the sigil for Hunter, as Hunter proved himself by sticking to his own morals. Darius gives him a Penstagram account so Hunter can stay in contact with his new friends. The first person Hunter messages is Willow, and the team is lightheartedly watching him text, seemingly warming up to him.
Labyrinth Runners
The next episode Hunter and Willow interact in is Season 2, Episode 18, titled Labyrinth Runners. We find that Hunter is staying at Hexside after the events of Season 2, Episode 16, Hollow Mind. This fact highlights Any Sport in a Storm’s, and furthermore Willow’s, importance to the narrative. If Hunter had never made a connection with Willow, he would have never found a safe space for him to stay. Willow was the only meaningful connection he had at the time, and it’s enough to make Hunter feel a semblance of hope for his dire situation. It’s possible he resides in Hexside in the hopes of seeing her again, or to simply feel as happy as he did when he was playing Flyer Derby with her and the rest of the team. This is further highlighted by Hunter’s clothes, which is his Flyer Derby uniform.
The first meaningful Huntlow interaction happens when Gus and Hunter first escape the illusion casted on the school. Both of them notice Willow on the other side of the corridor, and while Gus is running up to greet her, Hunter looks at her with wide eyes and blushes. Willow tells Gus that they need to find other people before the illusions get scary, which she implies by making a scared sound. Hunter sees this behavior and becomes suspicious of this Willow, and calls out the illusion for being an imposter. He suspects this because he states that Willow would not be afraid in this situation, asking Gus “have you ever seen her play Flyer Derby? There’s no way she’d be afraid of me.” What this scene shows is that Hunter has a fresh perspective on Willow. Like Willow sees Hunter as a normal kid first, Hunter sees Willow as a strong witch first. Hunter sees Willow as who she wants to be seen as, which is highlighted in the B plot with Willow, where Amity is struggling to accept the fact that Willow is a strong witch. Huntlow is a relationship built on respect for one another, which is a healthy trait for relationships to have.
Later in the episode, Hunter is being interrogated by Hexside, as people are suspicious about him being on the Emperor’s side. Hunter begs for them to believe him, stating that he was trying to get Gus to safety and that Gus showed him a breathing technique. This breathing technique was one taught by Willow, and the moment Hunter mentions it, we see Willow go from having a look of skepticism to a look of shock. It’s a facial expression that looks very similar to Hunter’s when he saw the Willow illusion. Willow stands up for Hunter, putting her hand on his shoulder and giving Hunter a warm smile. Hunter, flustered by Willow standing up for him, continues to talk about how to rescue Gus. What Willow sees in this scene is that Hunter, like her, is also determined to protect the people he cares about, even if doing so would pose great risk to their safety. Hunter saving Gus from Graye was dangerous because the Emperor’s Coven was looking for Hunter, and yet he chose to disregard that in order to help his friend.
The fight scene to rescue Gus further shows Willow and Hunter’s trust and care in one another. We see Hunter save Willow by knocking out a guard about to attack her, which makes Willow smile at him. In the next scene, we see Willow tell Hunter to save Gus while she and Amity take out the Abomatons, trusting Hunter to save him. Hunter, trusting Willow to handle the fight, goes in to save Gus. When he enters the illusion of painful memories, Hunter ends up recounting many, one of which being Willow in the cell in Any Sport in a Storm. Hunter has many horrors as a child soldier who recently found out his entire life is a lie, and yet making Willow feel bad about herself is one of the most painful things for him to remember. It conveys how highly he thinks of Willow and how he doesn’t want to see her hurt. Hunter is able to get through the memories to help Gus, as like Willow, he is able to persevere to help their friends despite the pain. Willow is grateful for the gesture, as she pulls Hunter into a group hug and whispers “thanks Hunter” in a very soft yet happy tone of voice, causing Hunter to blush.
Clouds on the Horizon
The next episode with Huntlow moments, that being Season 2, Episode 20, Clouds on the Horizon, is extremely light in terms of content, but there are still some moments worth mentioning. Hunter deeply cares about Willow and wants her by his side. So he avoids telling her, as well as Gus, the fact that he’s a Grimwalker, fearing that Willow would hate him. This choice shows how meaningful of a person Willow is to Hunter.
We also see a brief scene of Hunter shielding Willow when Kikimora lands an attack with an Abomaton. The way Hunter shields Willow implies a special romantic connection. When Hunter protected other characters, such as Gus, he would drag them to safety by taking their wrist and pulling them with him. With Willow, however, he hugs her and uses his body as a shield, ready and willing to take any damage for her. This is a behavior similar to Amity shielding Luz in a hug in Escaping Expulsion, which was also against an Abomaton.
Of course, Willow is unaware that Hunter shielded her, as Gus created an illusion that swapped Luz’s and Hunter’s appearances. When Kikimora grabs Luz, Willow thinks it’s Hunter and she attacks Kikimora ruthlessly, with her green eyes glowing. In most fight scenes, Willow’s eyes do not glow. They only glow in cases of extreme emotion when using her magic, as seen in I Was a Teenage Abomination where her eyes glow because she is angry and determined. So Willow’s eyes glowing in a scene where she thinks Hunter is simply in danger conveys how emotional Willow gets over Hunter’s safety. This is further seen when Kikimora uses Luz as a shield and Willow pulls her vines back in a fearful expression, worried that her vines will hurt Hunter.
We see Willow’s determination to get Hunter back at the very end of the fight scene, where she is the only person who looks angry after it ends and is the first to run to the airship. She exclaims “come on stupid thing, we have to follow them!” in a very anxious tone. Again, it’s extremely unusual for Willow to appear panicked in such a circumstance, as she is usually the calm and collected person in most fight scenes. It’s also another Escaping Expulsion parallel, as Amity ran away from the group to save Luz and Willow called out to her. This scene shows Amity calling out to Willow. The whole fight scene shows how desperately Willow and Hunter want to protect each other in a way that implies they see each other as more than friends.
King’s Tide
Season 2, Episode 21, King’s Tide also doesn’t have too many Huntlow moments, but there are some. One of which is actually shown right off the bat. In Clouds on the Horizon, we saw Willow in a panic when she thought Hunter was being taken, but here, we see that Willow is a lot more composed, especially compared to Amity or Hunter. This change in attitude further demonstrates how Willow was specifically afraid of Hunter’s safety rather than Luz’s, which implies a romantic connection.
Later in the episode, the team needs to take out some of the airships that have spotted them. Hunter flies over to take one out, only to fall off his Palisman in the process. He falls for a long distance before Willow ends up catching him, which causes him to blush as he looks at her. This scene implies that Hunter is attracted to Willow’s strength and heroism, as she was able to catch his entire body with one arm and save his life. It’s also a good callback to Any Sport in a Storm, where Willow fell off her Palisman and Hunter helped her.
The rest of the episode shows moments where they are constantly protecting each other. Hunter helps Willow stand up after the ship crashes, asking her if she’s ok with a very concerned look on his face. He holds her hand when she’s on the ground and she uses it in order to stand up. Willow looks up at him with a very sweet expression, most likely grateful for his help. There’s also a moment where Willow is trying to hold Monster Belos down with her vines, and Hunter protects a rock from falling on her head. This came right after a shot of Luz and Amity fighting Belos, which presents a parallel. It is worth noting that Hunter is doing all of this while the draining spell is still active, meaning that he was dying due to his Emperor’s Coven sigil. So the fact that Hunter still consistently goes out of his way to protect Willow despite dying from the spell shows that Hunter’s main priority is keeping Willow safe.
Later in the episode, when Belos is about to annihilate Luz, Amity, Willow, Hunter, and Gus, we see the group brace for impact. We see that Luz shields Amity by hugging her, and Willow does something similar for Hunter. She hugs his head and puts her arms in front of Hunter’s head, simultaneously shielding him and shielding herself. Willow wants to protect Hunter and also views him as a safe space, further implying a deeper bond. This is supported by the moment when the draining spell is unactivated, as we see Hunter leaning on Willow for support and once the draining spell is lifted, she is the only person of the group to smile. While the rest of the group is focusing on the Collector, Willow is only focused on the fact that Hunter is ok.
Thanks to Them
The first Season 3 special, Thanks to Them, has several Huntlow moments that really show why the relationship works so well. One of the first scenes of the episode is Hunter and Luz talking to each other about how they’re scared of their friends finding out their secrets. In one shot, we see Luz and Hunter look at a group of people in the kitchen, but the group only has two people: Amity and Willow. We know that Amity is the most important person in Luz’s life, so this scene shows that Willow is the most important person in Hunter’s life. He cares about her so much that he is worried about her knowing his secret on the same level as Luz is worried about her girlfriend knowing her secret.
In the montage introduction, we see Hunter look at himself in the mirror and he’s jumpscared by an image of Caleb and Belos. Hunter fears his connection to them and his grimwalker identity. This fear causes Hunter to try to cut his hair, which Willow notices once she sees hair outside the bathroom. Willow steps in to help Hunter cut his hair and Hunter lets her. He blushes, sweats, and fidgets, as well as moves the grimwalker book away, while she cuts his hair. Willow likely knows that Hunter is in a bad place mentally and she was willing to go out of her way to help him out, even if he isn’t ready to share about what is bothering him. She also probably has an idea of what Hunter is going through, as Willow also changed her hairstyle to match her identity in Follies at the Coven Day Parade. Hunter has had trust issues throughout his whole life in the Emperor’s Coven and only recently started learning how to trust people. So letting Willow touch and cut his hair shows how safe Hunter feels when he is with Willow. This scene shows how Huntlow is a relationship built on trust, support, care, and personal connection, which conveys how healthy the relationship is for both of them.
There is a small Huntlow moment that shows Hunter’s brightest blush in the show as of this special. The group has found a rebeus that may help them find a way back to the Boiling Isles, and Willow is trying to psych everyone up into figuring out the rebeus, saying that they’ll figure it out “using our buff brains.” The minute she says “buff brains”, Hunter blushes a bright red, seen in both his cheeks and ears. Also, his eyes are widened and his eyebrows are raised. He then nervously giggles and imitates her pose, while still looking at her while everyone else’s eyes are closed. This scene shows how Hunter is flustered by Willow’s confidence. Consultant Psychologist Dr. Neha Mehta states that “men want women who are confident and self-assured.” Both of these traits describe Willow very well, which further supports why Hunter would be so attracted to her.
The next scene starts off with everyone getting ready to head out to get answers on the rebeus and Hunter comes out in a costume. When Hunter emerges, the first person to react is Willow, saying she likes his look and takes a photo of it. After that, Hunter starts talking about why he’s cosplaying as O’Bailey, and Vee takes the book and mentions the year 2008 with a confused expression. Gus then talks to Hunter about Cosmic Frontier, the book that Hunter got into. Gus is at first very excited to see Hunter happy and fixated on something. But when Gus tries to correct Hunter on an interpretation of the story, Hunter covers his ears for spoilers, and Gus looks at Hunter with a less excited expression. Amity, like Vee, is also judgemental about Hunter’s outfit, and she asks him to change his outfit. Willow stands up for him, saying “don’t listen to her”, while covering Amity’s mouth and Amity looks at Willow with an “are you serious” look. Hunter agrees to change and says he’ll catch up, so most of the group leaves, with Willow staying behind. Willow tells Hunter she’s going to read the book after he finishes it, and gives him a wink and a point, which causes Hunter to blush and smile. Right after all of these events, we have Hunter staring at the mirror, stating that he likes who he is despite “not being who he’s supposed to be.” Out of all the characters in this scene, Willow is the only one who is completely unjudgemental. She likes seeing Hunter be who he is and didn’t want Hunter to listen to people who were weirded out by it. Perhaps Willow relates to being somewhat judged and wants to help Hunter feel accepted. She also takes interest in what he likes by saying she wants to borrow the book, which is likely proof that Willow is crushing on Hunter. Marcelina Hardy, MSEd, has a masters in counseling, and she states that when someone is interested in someone else, “he or she becomes overly interested in your hobbies.” Despite Hunter receiving unconditional support from only Willow, it’s enough to make Hunter love himself. Huntlow is monumental in Hunter’s arc, as it helps him heal from something so life shattering. This is supported by a subtle metaphor, where light is shown on Hunter when the door to the house is open, but the house gets dark when Willow leaves. Willow is the light in Hunter’s life.
Willow showcases her photo album in the episode and there are a few Huntlow details. One of which is a photo booth compilation of Hunter, Gus, and Willow. Next to it, Willow puts a yellow sticker and a green sticker, with a red heart in the middle. Considering how a cloud in between Hunter and Willow in Any Sport in a Storm was shaped as a heart, as well as the chalkboard drawing of a heart between the two in Labyrinth Runners, this is likely deliberate. Willow is crushing on Hunter and puts heart stickers in between them, similar to how teenagers will draw hearts in between themselves and their crush.
While all of this is happening, Hunter believes he saw Belos in the abandoned house and goes to tell Luz about it. They go back to the house to see if he’s in there, only for there to be nothing. Hunter then concludes that he was shaken up, and states how he just wants to make sure everyone is safe. Luz reminds him that they are going to keep Hunter safe too, because he’s family, and that causes Hunter to break down crying. This scene highlights a trait Willow and Hunter have in common: selflessness. Both of them desire to protect the ones they care about, and are easily flustered by kind words of care, as seen by Willow in Wing it Like Witches, where basic compliments cause her to blush.
There’s another implied connection between them when Willow’s Halloween costume is shown to have a W patch on it, which shows the audience that Hunter has sewn a patch on her costume for her. We also see that they spent time together with just the two of them in a photo where Hunter and Willow are in the garden alone. Thanks to Them demonstrates that Willow and Hunter have spent a lot of time together, which likely made them grow even closer.
The before and after of the fight scene against possessed Hunter also shows Willow’s overwhelming sense of care for Hunter, one that differs from everyone else. When Luz and Hunter go missing from the group, Willow is the only person to call for Hunter, while Camila and Amity call for Luz and Gus calls for both of them broadly (saying “guys”). The aftermath of the fight scene shows Willow being incredibly worried about Hunter’s safety. She tells Camila to be careful with Hunter when she and Camila were dragging him out of the water, and then she lets Hunter’s head rest on her lap. Throughout the scene, Willow continuously looks at Hunter with a sad and worried look, even when Belos leaves Hunter’s body and leaves to go to the Demon Realm. She shakes his body lightly and is the first person to notice that Hunter is unconscious (and likely dead). The minute Vee starts calling for the hospital, Willow starts to cry, doubting that human doctors would be able to treat possession. Willow is the only person in this scene to cry before Hunter is presumed dead. Once it is implied that Hunter is dead, Luz also starts to cry briefly, and then Flapjack revives Hunter back to life, sacrificing himself in the process. When Hunter wakes up, he’s aware that Flapjack is dead and starts crying. Seeing Hunter cry makes Willow really upset, as seen by the increase in tears on her face. She then proceeds to give Hunter a hug, to which Hunter closes his eyes and stops crying. Even after such a terrible event, Hunter finds some comfort in Willow’s embrace and it makes him feel slightly better. Willow also has a strong empathetic connection with Hunter, as seeing him upset makes her just as upset. Willow continues to provide more comfort to Hunter after he sits up when she holds his back and puts her hand on his shoulder, which is a common gesture Willow has done to Hunter in episodes such as Any Sport in a Storm and Labyrinth Runners.
Debunking Arguments Against Huntlow
Huntlow is a very polarizing ship among the Owl House fandom for a wide variety of reasons. Some of these reasons are as simple as preferring certain fandom ships, which is certainly justifiable, as long as these people are respectful of the canon and people’s opinions on it. Others also like to come up with their own sexuality headcanons for Hunter and Willow, common ones being the gay and ace respectively. While their sexualities were debatably implied in the show, with Hunter possibly being bisexual and Willow possibly being pansexual, it is not direct confirmation so unless their sexual orientations are stated by the show’s staff, particularly Dana Terrace, then anyone may headcanon Willow or Hunter as whatever they would like. But they need to realize that people may disagree and that once the Owl House crew states the canon sexualities, those headcanons are null and void. That being said, there are a wide variety of reasons that are, quite frankly, illogical and contradictory given the information we have about Huntlow.
Age Gap
One common voice of concern is the age gap between them. Hunter is canonically 16 years old in the show, and there is some debate about Willow’s age. Dana Terrace, the creator of the Owl House, has stated that Willow was 14 by the end of Season 1. Many, however, believe that she may be 15 due to a Birthday photo in Labyrinth Runners with Willow blowing out candles in her plant track uniform and Season 1 hair. This photo likely implies that Willow turned 15 sometime in between Season 1, Episode 19, Young Blood Old Souls and Season 2, Episode 11, Follies at the Coven Day Parade, the episode where we first see Willow with her Season 2 braided hair. So we can assume that her age is somewhere between 14 and 15 years of age. For the sake of argument, let’s assume that Willow is 14, which is the age that people who voice disdain for the age gap believe in.
With Hunter being 16, this would mean that Hunter and Willow have a 2 year age gap at most, similar to a freshman and junior in high school. Two year aged gaps are perfectly normal and healthy among couples, even if they’re teenagers. The Oarsman, a high school website, states that “teens in high school need to avoid getting into a relationship with someone who is over 18.” Since high school starts at around 14-15 years of age, it’s likely that a freshman dating a senior is the most questionable type of relationship. But anything with a smaller age gap in high school is ok. This is also assuming that Hunter and Willow have the same emotional intelligence, which is not true considering how Hunter’s traumatic life experiences have made him less emotionally intelligent and the fact that Willow, the female, is likely to be more emotionally intelligent than Hunter, the male. Research states that women tend to be more emotionally intelligent than men. Krystnell Storr, who has a masters degree in science, health, and environmental reporting, states that this is because “the female brain establishes connections and "prunes" itself faster than the male brain.” Since Willow is younger, it removes any semblance of a power dynamic that was unlikely to be there in the first place. Again, this is assuming that the age gap is 2 years. It could be even less depending on Willow’s age, and the same argument could apply, even though almost all would agree that a one year age gap in couples is perfectly fine.
Hunter Needing Therapy First
Speaking of which, some people who may have seen the previous comment about Hunter’s upbringing are probably thinking that Hunter shouldn’t be in a relationship at all because of it, or at the very least not until he receives proper mental health treatment. This argument implies that Huntlow is a toxic and unhealthy relationship that would only harm Hunter mentally. This statement is objectively incorrect. We’ve seen from previous episodes that Huntlow helped Hunter feel genuine happiness, find new friends he can start to trust, and break away from his toxic environment. It gave him a new sense of comfort.
Furthermore, a relationship can have a variety of different effects on someone’s mental health depending on the state of it. Someone’s psychology is more complicated than “this thing is good” and “this thing is bad.” A lot of factors come into play that can have different effects on people, and those effects could be good, bad, or neutral. In Hunter’s case, his whole arc is about loving himself and finding people who care about him. We see that he has trust issues, so a relationship would actually be helpful in this case, because it gives Hunter the opportunity to trust again, and even love himself. On top of that, Hunter has been dealing with a lot of concerns about his life, some of which may have been hidden or unresolved in some way. So a relationship with someone who can deeply relate to him would actually provide a safe space where Hunter can open up about problems he has. Therapist Wendy Wray, PHd, states that when you are in a safe space “you allow yourself space to be vulnerable.” This is a feeling Hunter desperately needs, as he’s been in a dangerous coven all his life. Having a relationship would help Hunter let his guard down and feel more at ease and at peace with his life.
While he also has his friendships with characters such as Luz and Gus, they don’t know Hunter deep enough for him to approach them about deeper psychological issues he may be having. They deeply care about him, but they aren’t as understanding about his thought process and how he takes things in. Willow is, because they have a much deeper connection and relate more on an identity and value level, rather than an experience level. The Encyclopedia of Adolescence states that “[r]omantic relationships have been found to impact physical and psychological wellbeing, as individuals in healthy relationships report heightened emotional support, self-esteem, and quality of life (Sedikides et al., 1994; Voss et al., 1999; Pateraki and Roussi, 2013).” Alas, an intimate connection can go beyond the platonic ones and can provide a different and monumental kind of support.
It’s also worth noting that many people who have gone through some type of family trauma or mental health problem state that being in a relationship is fine, and in some cases, extremely helpful. Bridges to Recover states that “love and positive social support increase feelings of happiness and reduce stress, anxiety, and depression.” So the therapy argument can send the message that people with mental health problems don’t deserve love until they get their “issues” sorted out, and that is extremely damaging. Relationships can help heal someone and they don’t need to necessarily fix themselves before they end up in one. In fact, blocking them out completely could prevent someone from healing in some way. If people needed to be completely mentally sound before ending up in relationships, we would have significantly less relationships today. After the toxic relationships Hunter has been exposed to throughout his life, he needs to develop healthy ones. Finding a soulmate who unconditionally loves you for who you are, relates to you, and is willing to provide comfort would help many people, especially Hunter. Now of course, a relationship is no substitute for actual mental health treatment. But it’s ok for people to be in relationships while going through traumatic experiences. Both Lumity and Raeda are similar in this regard, so the same applies to Huntlow.
Bad Introduction
The age gap and therapy arguments that were previously stated are ones that try to paint Huntlow as a problematic ship, which is, of course, untrue. Another one that tries to portray Huntlow this way is that Hunter trying to get the Emerald Entrails into the Emperor’s Coven is such an immoral act that it means that a relationship with Willow would be abusive. Now of course, what Hunter did in that episode was terrible, but it says less about himself and more about his situation. Hunter is desperate to prove himself and genuinely believes that he was helping the Emerald Entrails when recruiting them for the Emperor’s Coven. He was deeply manipulated by Belos and thought he was doing something good. Eventually, Hunter empathizes with them, and is willing to stand up to an authority figure and sacrifice his life in order to save the team. It’s a daring sense of selflessness that is a milestone for Hunter, which makes up for the minor inconvenience he brought onto them that he didn’t think would make them upset in the long run. And even then, after Hunter breaks out of said manipulation, he has intense regret, as seen by the painful memories in Labyrinth Runners and his overall protective nature of everyone in the Hexsquad. All of these are not excuses for what he did, but they are things that make up for his poor choices. Frankly, it’s quite obvious Hunter is not an abusive person, so it’s baffling that this argument exists at all, especially when Lumity also started off on the wrong foot for similar reasons.
Rushed or Forced
On a more writing level, some people believe that Huntlow is rushed or forced. Cristen, an award winning ghostwriter, states that rushed means “going from one event or scene to another without showing the reader why.” So they are events that happen seemingly without a reason to connect them together. This is not what happens with Huntlow. What people need to realize is that Hunter and Willow are still in the crush like stage as of Thanks to Them, which is about 9 episodes after they first met. The progression of their relationship on screen makes sense. They meet in ASIAS and bond over their similarities and desire to prove themselves, then Hunter rights his wrong, which makes Willow hopeful that she’ll see him again. Hunter later comes back in Labyrinth Runners to help Gus, who he cares about and feels the need to protect. Willow, who’s main aspiration is to protect her friends, is extremely grateful for what Hunter did, especially since it was really dangerous for him to do so. This not only helps make up for what Hunter did in Any Sport in a Storm, but it also makes Willow appreciate Hunter more. It’s also heavily implied that they’ve interacted off screen. There's implied Penstagram messaging in episodes such as Reaching Out, where Luz says Willow gave her Hunter’s contact information and Hunter sends a photo to Luz he didn’t mean to send. The fact that Luz mentioned Willow implied that Hunter meant to send the photo to Willow. Plus, there are also two time skips where they likely spent time together: one in between Labyrinth Runners and Clouds on the Horizon and another in between Kings Tide and Thanks to Them. It’s clear they’ve spent a decent amount of time together, even if it wasn’t all shown, so it makes sense that they would develop a deeper bond. Even if we haven't seen a lot of the relationship, there are valid reasons behind why they got closer, so therefore the ship is not rushed.
Many claim that the ship is forced or unnatural. But Any Sport in a Storm shows that Willow and Hunter bond over the desire to prove themselves, evident in the half a witch dialogue and overall conflict parallels in that episode. They’re also similar in personality, as they’re both extremely selfless and protective of others, and they’ve been looked down upon by others for a lot of their life. They clearly have a good amount of chemistry that feels natural, so it makes sense that they would develop a romantic-like bond.
Not being LGBTQIA+
There’s one last reason that may be why Huntlow is criticized by many people. It’s actually quite simple and in the grand scheme of things, pretty insignificant: it’s a m/f relationship. These reasons are purely skepticism, but considering how the Owl House was famous for LGBTQIA+ relationships like Lumity and Raeda, and the fact that mainly fandom ships with Willow and Hunter were also LGBTQIA+, it’s likely people are disappointed that a seemingly straight relationship was added. Almost all can agree that LGBTQIA+ is needed in the media, and the Owl House was monumental in adding this type of relationship while the show was still airing. It really helps normalize these types of relationships, especially in shows that are shown to children. When a straight passing relationship is added to a show with LGBTQIA+ relationships, it’s very likely for it to be viewed with a more negative lens. This is because straight relationships aren’t in dire need, as there have been countless ever since media has been a thing. Plus, LGBTQIA+ themes receive a lot of hate and prejudice in day to day life, so adding those types of relationships is important.
But what people seem to fail to realize is that a straight relationship doesn’t take away the LGBTQIA+ representation. If anything, it enhances it more, because both LGBTQIA+ and straight relationships are treated equally, which is the main goal of LGBTQIA+ events and representation: to normalize LGBTQIA+ relationships and put them on the same level as straight relationships. On top of that, romances can be great representation in other ways. Huntlow is very good at deconstruction of gender roles and ideal body image. It’s a relationship where a scrawny boy falls for a plus sized girl who is incredibly strong and independent. It’s incredibly significant to show people that any body size can be seen as beautiful, as it’s rare to see a man genuinely fall for a plus sized woman. It’s also refreshing to see Willow not depend on Hunter for protection. It's more likely to be the other way around, as after Hunter’s trauma, it would be nice for him to have someone look after him. On top of that, neither are really conventionally beautiful. Hunter has eye bags, scars, and a tooth gap, and Willow wears glasses and has some less than flattering screenshots in Thanks to Them, such as Willow sleeping and Willow watching a movie. Huntlow is a relationship that has untraditional beauty and gender standards, and that can be just as monumental and important as LGBTQIA+ representation. Now of course, there’s also the idea that not every m/f is straight, as it’s possible for at least one of them to fall under the bisexual umbrella. So it could still be a form of LGBTQIA+ representation that shows that a straight passing relationship does not necessarily mean the people in it are not queer. It’s important to mention that because this type of biphobia is a problem that can lead to further discrimination.
Conclusion
Huntlow is a relationship built on the idea that they can prove people wrong. With Willow, she can be strong, help and protect others, and find people who appreciate her for her strength. With Hunter, he can become good, heal from his trauma, and also help and protect others. And in a fandom sense, it proves people wrong about how abuse victims can find happiness in romantic relationships and that despite unfortunate circumstances, both in the story and behind the scenes, that a romantic relationship can blossom in such a natural, interesting, and trail blazing way. Like Hunter said in Any Sport in a Storm, “there’s more to [Huntlow] than you think.”

It's going so slowly, but it's going! "It" being my obikin fic. (See previous posts here). (See illustrations for this idea here). I finally got myself to work on the wedding scene. Except they don't know the alien tradition they're participating in is, strictly speaking, a marriage. So, this is an out-of-body mind meld experience done purely for tactical advantage*. Enjoy! (Also, is this excerpt too long? It's for science. I'm trying to figure out how much of a scene to post next time.) *a blatant lie
"A… link, you say?"
They sat in front of the Mystic, a middle aged Danaan woman with golden scales and deep dark eyes. At her side, a tiny droid shadowed her speech in unsteady Basic. Her acolyte, a pale-scaled and long-feathered teenager, stared at the Jedi and radiated a mixture of fear and fascination in the Force. The Mystic's aura was radiant. She was obviously powerful.
"It would be like an echo- sorry, a connection device of yours." the old Danaan said.
Anakin barely suppressed a snort. "Except this one would work in your karking caverns," he thought.
"Many of the Danaan share such bonds and speak even when separated. One could be the brink of the Abyss and another in its depths and they'd still hear each other's thoughts."
"Seems… Deep. For a connection." Obi-Wan said. Anakin caught a brief ripple of worry from him from the surface of their bond.
"The joining is perfectly reversible, if that's what you wish to do once your mission is done with." The Mystic continued. "It's a simple ritual it just needs some paint so I can draw- Mithra, what?" The acolyte whispered. "Sigils. That's the word."
"Paint." Obi-Wan scratched his beard. "We'd have to check it for toxicity. If that's allowed."
"Be my guest. It's just minerals."
Mithra bolted somewhere in an unsteady wobbling run and returned with a pot of paint. She waved at the Jedi to go ahead and followed the Mystic's measured steps as the older Danaan left to prepare the necessary tools.
Obi-Wan dipped the very tip of his pinky finger into the thick slurry. The two men waited, cloth at the ready to wipe away the paint if it were to start behaving strangely, but it didn't.
"Just some minerals indeed."
"Then nothing is stopping us from doing the ritual." Anakin said, voice thick with relief and still-lingering tension.
Tunics removed and (in Obi-Wan's case) neatly folded, they sat side by side on the dark flat rock. Obi-Wan breathed steadily, probably already in light meditation. Anakin looked at his pale freckled shoulders and shivered.
"Cold, padawan?"
"A little, and not anymore." Anakin said. It wasn't just cold or just longing that made goosebumps race up his arms, though. It was apprehension. It was fear.
Their connection, grown from the training bond they were never truly willing to sever, had always been a comfort to Anakin. A tether to hold onto in the storms that so often ripped through his mind. But he'd learned to control that connection, to shield his master from the worst of it. It was, in its own way, distant - the two of them always orbiting each other.
This, the "Soul Link" or whatever the Danaans called it, would be different. It would set them on a collision course - not the familiar act of their Force signatures brushing against each other, edge to edge, but a melding. Anakin may have envied the Danaans before, when the Mystic mentioned the tradition of joining, two being like one. Now, the prospect of laying out everything before Obi-Wan filled him with trepidation. He wanted his master's acceptance, his approval, longed to reach deep and feel the intensity that laid beneath the surface of Obi-Wan's tranquil, self-possessed exterior. Yet Anakin knew he'd never get his wish. Baring the core of his soul would only show his glaring weakness, his un-jedi-like passion, his fear. How could Obi-Wan accept him if Anakin couldn't even accept himself? What if, like the Jedi Knight himself at times, Obi-Wan got tired of the noise and the pain and the intensity of Anakin's every waking moment?
Still, it seemed that clinging to foolish hope was his specialty.
The Mystic finally came up to him. The deep blue shimmer of her robes was calming and mesmerizing like the waters of an underground lake. Behind her toddled an acolyte with two pots of paint - slate and cyan. Even further behind, Anakin saw the comical figure of the little translator droid.
"We begin", the Mystic intoned. Her deep voice followed by the droid's tinny echo in Basic. "Your arm, please."
Anakin let her hold his flesh arm as she traced some unknown figure into it. The contrast between rough scales and soft pads of her four fingers was strange. The paint was cold and wet on his skin, and the angle didn't quite let him see what picture the curving lines were making. The air hummed with power.
"It should dry quickly." The Mystic said, apparently satisfied.
"Will the connection cut out if I lose this arm, too?"
"The connection is internal," she gestured at her heart. "It's not just in the mark."
Anakin looked over his newly painted arm, still not touching the paint for fear of smudging it. On it, in a labyrinth of blue lines, there was a circle with complex overcrossing figures. They silhouettes looked familiar even when the cyan speckled around them curved into strange shapes of dots and wings. In fact, they looked like…
"Our lightsabers?" Obi-Wan asked. His mark was finished, too and contorted uncomfortably to look at his shoulder.
"The shapes most familiar to you. Now, you have to say the words and touch upon each other's marks to open-" she said something that made the translator droid let out an unhappy squeak and a small fountain of sparks. "Gates to the mind."
Anakin was about to remark on the powers she must have used to scan their memories for those "shapes most familiar", but before he could speak the Mystic continued.
"Mithra, smack that machine, please, I need it to stop changing my words. The Shining Ones need to repeat what I say in normal language."
"No need for violence," Anakin interjected, "I can just turn him off."
The matter of the droid resolved, the two Jedi settled across from each other, arms outstretched. Anakin silently wished he could have a better excuse to touch his master's bare shoulders.
"Repeat after me," the Mystic said, and the everything blurred. If someone asked Anakin to describe what the ritual was afterwards he wouldn't be able to put it to words. Except maybe this: there was nothing else in the world but the two of them. Not even the sensations tethering him to his body held. All he saw and felt were the shining, sharp points of connection between them, his palm to Obi-Wan's shoulder, Obi-Wan's fingers on Anakin's inner forearm. He distantly heard his own voice saying something. The unfamiliar syllables were heavy on his tongue.
Then he felt it - the tentative, warm touch of his master's Force signature against his own, like light slowly spilling out from the horizon at sunrise. It felt- indescribable. Like safety. Like coming home.
"Go on," he heard a smile in his master's voice. "We have to do this properly."
Anakin slowly let himself open up. The gale of the Cosmic Force rushed through him almost immediately. It brought with it the same background noise of the universe that always battered on his shields and made meditating into a battle. His restless rolling tornado of a mind was spinning out of control again, and Anakin felt vaguely nauseous, as if he was in freefall. He clenched his jaw and himself fall, calling out in his mind for Obi-Wan to catch him.
Suddenly, Anakin was enveloped in the sort of calm he long since forgot how to feel. It was like being a child again, hiding from a desert storm on Tatooine behind the solid whitewashed walls of their home. It was like knowing his mother was waiting for him, ready to erase his worries with a kind word, like finding rest and comfort encircled in her arms. Was this how Obi-Wan felt all the time? This… Serenity?
"Not quite." Came the dry response. "You make sure of that."
Anakin released a brief sense of embarrassed indignation into the blurred space between them.
Maybe this was enough for the ritual, but he couldn't help but reach deeper. That's what he wanted, always: to hold on and never have to let go. The always-aching, possessive part of him called out in horror and despair - and something called back.
With Anakin's every breath, it pulsed. It was the darkness at the bottom of the well. A pulsing threat, a beckoning voice, long-denied but still dangerous. It was his own fear, and someone else's, too. Anakin reached in, one breath and then another passing with him stretching out his energy and trying to pull light and warmth into the void before him. It seemed to work, and Anakin felt as if he were touching hot embers of a fire he'd stoked in an empty fireplace. Soon, the heat turned all-consuming, like a star going supernova, like sunlight on the surface of the Sun. It melted away the last of what separated the two Force signatures. He wasn't sure where the separation between them began anymore. Any distinction seemed meaningless. He was but a part of them. They inhaled.
They were basking in the sunshine of the bond. Thoughts flittered past like clouds on the horizon, impossibly distant. Their heartbeat was distant thunder.
It was not to last, a part of them started pulling away. The rest, him, held on, despite the pain and ecstasy of being united and separated, all at once.
"Anakin." came a breath through their link.
Warmed, then singed, then almost seared by the flame, \he\ held on greedily, trying to plunge deeper. Was someone calling him?
"Anakin!" a voice called out. The world abruptly shifted into place, like a ship coming out of hyperspace.
Anakin remembered he had ears, and fingers that clenched white-knuckled into someone's firm shoulder. Obi-Wan's shoulder. Oh. He let go and winced at the blooming reddened impressions left behind on the skin.
"Oh. Sorry, Master, I-"
Obi-Wan waved him off. The older Jedi looked as dazed as Anakin felt. He cleared his throat.
"I think we did it."
"You did." the Mystic sighed. "Very well."
The two men didn't turn to look at her, still to shaken by the experience of the bond.
"Back to the land of the living?" Anakin huffed. The guilt weighed heavy on him. Was he too much?
"You're looking a little pale for 'living'." Obi-Wan deadpanned.
"Did you two know you're speaking with your thoughts?" the Mystic intoned, amused. Her voice rung in the air as if it really did just break a long silence.
They looked at each other.
"We are?"
"You will figure out the difference between tongue and mind soon. Now, go. You haven't much time to get used to the Link."
They went to grab their robes, arms colliding awkwardly. Anakin picked up a sash, realized it wasn't his and saw Obi-Wan staring, confused, at the bundle of dark cloth in his hands. They exchanged grins and swapped items.
"Thank you, Mystic." Obi-Wan called out, once they were outfitted.
She just nodded and turned away to yell after the acolyte, who'd long since toddled away somewhere with the paint.
"Mithra, where did you put that damn ceremonial cloth again?"
The two Jedi walked the corridors of the Danaan temple together, disconcerted, the lines between them still blurry. Anakin basked in the calm warmth of Obi-Wan's Force signature still not quite separated from his. What did they just stumble into? If the link was so strong, what would severing it do to them? It seemed Obi-Wan shared some of his thoughts.
"Seems almost a pity for us to break it after the mission."
"Right. I thought you'd say it's too big of an attachment to have."
"I would." Obi-Wan sighed. "It is."

Aylin Posting again :)
Tumblr media
It's the girls lounging by the lake by moonrise.
Y'know before it all went wrong. (rambles and ideas under cut)
I really wanna draw the scene where Aylin first comes down from the moon bathed heavens to great Reithwin town to great the nobility. Like it starts with Isobel bemoaning the day ahead, her father Kethric is genuinly the most excited he's ever been since its been the first time something like this has happened. Ketheric takes it as a sign from his late wife and therefore is needling Isobel to "put her best foot forward" and "make her mother proud". And like Isobel loves being a cleric, is great at it and is excited about this but at the same time after bearing the burden of her father's grief for so long, she also feels suffocated by constantly being there for Ketheric, clerical duties, being a noble ect.
Like just once she wants to act in her own self-interests.
So like the whole town funnels outside to the gate part near the mason guild sigil. Its a full moon of course Isobel rolls her eyes but maintains stature. Her dad seems elated yet desperate that its the sign he's been hoping for all this time even though he'll never find what he's searching for. The town folk have all these banners and banquets and stuff to greet this heavenly messenger. No one knows what's coming but they know its good. Only for the moon to be eclipsed by an enormous pair of wings. A single flap alone, fluttering the clothes and hair of the whole town. Deep and powerful feather strokes echo throughout the now silence townspeople. A steady rhythm that vibrates in your chest cavity.
Divine moonlight bleeds through the feathers almost blindingly, its not an elegant or graceful creature that Selune blessed the people of moonrise with. She is loud, armed and armored, landing on the ground with a thunderous force. Her face radiant, her smile jubilant to the point of feeling threatening. Some more cowardly townfolk tremble under her seering gaze. A force of nature, a paladin of Our Lady of Silver. She bellows out to the crowd: "FEAR NOT THE GENTLE FOLK OF MOONRISE. FOR IT IS I, DAME AYLIN, DAUGHTER OF SELUNE HERSELF PALADIN OF-" (I assume she goes on for a while, its her first time in the mortal realm she doesn't understand time and the concept of being concise)
And Isobel is just fully smitten. Absolutely floored, completely and utterly in love.
(i always think she fell first, then after Aylin has dwindled out the crowd with her divine ramblings, Isobel greets her formally and that's when Aylin is like <3<3<3)
I Don't know the first thing about writing comics or panneling but I wanna make this happen somehow. Any tips would be amazing!

[Book One of Three]
Story: 4 out of 5 Smut: 3 out of 5
I never thought I’d say this, but I’m in love with a demon. Harley Laroux did not disappoint with this book and I’m so glad there’s two more in this series!
At first Rae bugged the hell out of me because of her stupidity, but then I realized the girl was just trying to survive. As any human would. And at least Leon loved her brattiness. His punishments were… wow.
And the whole Leon giving Rae his metal scene… fucking. swoon!
Dear lord, I loved it.
I loved it all.
Now here are my rambling thoughts...
* I’m already team demon. I don’t like this pompous Kent guy. Or his children.
* Kent’s son Jeremiah is such a little bitch lol
* What the fuck is waking up that gives a DEMON chills?!
* Oohhhh. Rae found a grimoire of her own 😏
* Who the fuck is this security guard and what just happened..?
* Wait.. Leon is the security guard?! lol. Demon asshole. Okay, it’s fine then.
* “I don’t tell stories for free, doll.” // “Yeah? What’s your price?” // “You, on your knees, begging for my cock down your throat.”
* Goddamn. Leon’s bold. I fucking love it 😂
* Aw damn. Leon’s got a hot friend. Another demon? And then Victoria noticed Rae checking out Leon. Not good 😬
* Well hello, Zane. I love you already lmao.
* Oh fuck. That alley scene. Get some, Rae.
* Fuck the Hadleigh’s for wanting Rae dead.
* And he fucking lost the grimoire… Kent fucking lost the book that kept Leon bound to him. Leon’s free!!!
* I have a feeling Everly “donated” the book and that’s how Rae got it when her friend from the library gifted it to her.
* Oh hell. That creepy thing was stalking Rae. And Leon saved her. God, I want a Leon.
* She totally just accidentally summoned a demon 😂 Time to play, Leon.
* “I don’t make idle threats. If you run out of here, then I’m going to hunt you. I’m going to catch you. And when I do- when I do, I’ll make you scream.”
* Well I was gonna stop reading for the night, but Leon just showed his forked tongue. I’m intrigued.
* Aw damn. Of course they’d be cockblocked by an Eld- that creepy as fuck creature that hunts humans.
* Holy shit. The way he ate her out and then fucked her… yeah, she’s totally giving up that soul of hers.
* Aw fuck. Why did Everly steal the grimoire? If she didn’t “donate” it, then how did it end up in the library? And please don’t let her father know she has it.
* Aww. Poor Cheesecake. The Eld snatched the car up and Leon’s totally risking his life for Rae’s cat 😂
* Rae is starting to piss me off. Just listen to the demon!
* Serves you right. You wanna argue, not you gotta squirm through your classes.
* …and now she’s invited him inside to patch up his wounds 😩 Just give him your soul!
* “I was like you once. I think I envy you, to still look at the world with such fascination.” // “You can still. Why not?” // “If you live in the dark long enough, you’ll forget what the light feels like.”
* I knew they were gonna fuck, but goddamn that was… intense lol.
* After everything, this bitch STILL wants to ask the Hadleigh’s for help?! I fucking hope they sacrifice her now. She’s so stupid.
* Now you’re trying to bind him and command him to protect you? Rae, you’re fucking up. I hope Leon makes you pay.
* And punish her he did. Goddamn.
* “I want you. Irrevocably. But I can’t settle for less than all of you. Body and soul, Raelynn. We demons, when we see something we like, we need to possess it. It’s in our nature.”
* Told you, you should have given him your soul. Now he’s gonna leave and the Hadleigh’s are gonna sacrifice your ass.
* Well shit. Everly has the grimoire and has an Archdemon protecting her. This is going to end swell.
* Goddamn. Callum the Archdemon fucked up Leon 😂
* Awww. Everly gave him his sigil back.
* Oh my fucking god. Did you really go to the Hadleigh’s for a party? You’re so goddamn stupid, Rae.
* Of course Jeremiah is gross enough to roofie Rae. I knew this party was just a ploy to get their next sacrifice. Thank god for Zane and “Sam”. And now Leon is here. Yay!
* Fuck. Kent was waiting for them 🤦🏻‍♀️
* Leon pierced her nipples. Why was that so hot 🥵 😂
* Whoa. Kent’s dead? A little anticlimactic, no? But which psycho will have after Rae now? The God has a Kynes, a Hadleigh, and now It just needs a Lawson. Rae is so not in the clear.
* Fucking hate Jeremiah.
* Oh my god 😭 Leon saying goodbye before he takes on the Reaper. I’m not okay. Fuck this.
* Oh my god… no matter that she’s marked for the God, she still carved Leon’s name into her flesh and gave him her soul. HE’S ALIVE!!!
* Omg I’m so happy. They both lived and she gave a big middle finger to that God.

First Chapter of the Evil Stan fic is out now!
"The Costs of Our Hubris Chapter 1: Eyes and Sockets" is out on my AO3!
https://archiveofourown.org/works/49386823/chapters/124630234 Original AU made by @ahkaraii here on Tumblr! Shoutout to @koraesdoodles for being my wonderful beta-reader and dealing with my dyslexic ass abashdanshaha The chapter below the cut for anyone that wants to stay here on Tumblr:
Thousands of clashing colors swirling far above, a symphony of bellows swirling in coils worming its way through mind, body and soul. It thrummed in his ribs and escaped through his marred and mangled mouth in droning snores. His body sprawled out and writhed into a lifeless form, shaded by the pale and dusted rocks basked in the blooming presence of a God so sweet. Stanley Pines was sleeping. A horrible noise echoed in the winds around him, blowing and shifting in random directions, the skyline highlighted in natural disasters of all forms. Beautiful, colorful chaos. Home. The serene scene was broken by the pounding of fists, the shrieking of demons and cackling of others. One eye opened wide, and he woke up swinging. Hands outstretched to blackened rose thorns, body acting before mind as he tackled and raised a hand to the one in front of him, a wry and wild look in his gnarled, scared face. The cackles around him were all consuming, some egging him on, others telling him to knock it off, all while the one underneath merely stared.
It wasn’t until Stan broke out into laughter of his own that the scene unwound. He sat back on his haunch to snort and giggle, arms wrapped tight and sharpened finger tips digging into his sides. “Nice nap, Fishie?” Teeth chattered, stumpy flesh-pink arms prodding and poking at him. The others chided in, all poking and pulling but he didn’t seem to mind, laughter dying slow as he started to reciprocate.
“Always!” he growled, grabbing Pyronica by the horn and 8-Ball in a chokehold, the rest jeering as the two struggled. The largest of them shoved the three forward, the large purple loaf gesturing forward, his party hat shifting with every movement. Huffing, Stan let go of them, staring up at the sky. “Why’d ya wake me?” he asked, walking with them, gait sluggish but his one eye wide and alert as the other stayed hidden behind bandages as he wasn’t blessed enough to show it yet, there was no need too. No one to intimidate.
“Boss wanted to see you, Fishie” Keyhole slapped him hard on the back, earning a wry grin.
“Time t’ head out already?” Stan asked. If he were honest, he would be upset. He hated leaving. He loved returning, sitting with them all jeering, sharing stories of destruction and chaos, impromptu sparring matches devolving into rolling on the floor biting and mauling each other like rabid dogs on an abandoned island.
Camaraderie in the finer things, cheating in cards and lying about it. The only positive notion of leaving being all of them leaping off this dying realm to claim planets in their illustrious ruler's name. He placed a hand on the three-sided sigil woven into the fibers of his garb upon which he was blessed, a silent prayer at the edges of his mind that a chorus of voices accompanied, a choir of twisted wants and dreams of which he prayed to see, lest his final moments be in the endless sea of bodies.
They were talking to him this entire time, of course. But he was not focused on them now. No, instead his eye was toward the sky, the beautiful swirling colors bleeding out into their distinct streaks from the swirling point, the very center, a throne of bones and black ichor that squirmed and writhed in the same waving dance as the blood in his veins.
It was always such a treat, to stare up at everything you lived for. Sinking to his knees, he awaited to hear that shrill, echoing voice, the impending doom resting its gargantuan weight on his shoulders and pressing him towards the dry and crumbling ground as if he were nothing more than a measly tic on the body of a beautiful blood soaked dove. “GOOD JOB WAKING THE FISH BOWL,” a bright yellow light far above said, the golden glow of their God. All sound simmering to low murmurs as all rose to stand up straight, eyes of all kinds staring up in awe and utter devotion as he arose from his place on the throne and sunk down to rest just above them all. Bill stared at them all, a wide slit pupil gracing them with his presence. The clouds swirling above him, a halo bathed in the red hues of liquid vindication, the destruction of an innumerable amount hanging above him like trophies. “FISHIE FISHIE FISHIE WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN UP TO?” He swirled around them all like a cluster of vultures, snapping and snarling and starving, eye unrelenting and piercing into their very beings. The weight of power over his head was crushing, Stan's head lowering to a bow of respect and adoration as he spoke firmly. “Training for th’ day you release me again, Boss.” He kept his voice low, tone testy and stricken in fear-born respect. Forged in years of dismemberment and hard lessons taught through bloody knuckles and broken bones. “LETS MAKE GOOD ON THAT. YOU SEE FISHIE, THAT PLAGUE NEVER STOPS! THEY FLOOD MY WORLD BY THE MILLIONS EVERY SECOND, THEY GROUP LIKE PESTS! WILL YOU TAKE CARE OF THEM FOR ME?”
A frigid three fingered hand pressed against the top of Stan’s head, and the man's eye narrowed. All they were doing was causing more harm. Boiling hatred in his chest that made his face hot and arms numb. The swirling of voices caught and caged between his ears howling and begging him to tear them apart. Rip limb from limb, eyes from sockets, drag them here to be judged for their crimes and made to bow in front of his God, the being who so graciously saved him. Gritting gnarled teeth, his entire body shivered in disgust. “Always.” It was definitive, a rage unquenching, curdled like milk boiling in the hot sun.
“I DON’T WANT TO SEE HIDE OR HAIR OF YOU UNTIL YOU BRING ME THEIR SIX DIGIT HANDS, FISHIE. WE DON’T WANT CONSEQUENCES OF INSUBORDINATION, DO WE?” Bill was leaning against him now, thin arm wrapped around him like the embrace of an old friend. “Never.” He would not waver. He would not be sidetracked, nor blind-sided, he was better. He was stronger. They were weak, they were going to hurt thousands if he didn’t do it. “WHAT ARE YOU?” “I am a weapon.”
The others, his family, colorful and chaotic all grinning at him like he had done a great service. Pride swelled in his chest upon seeing their gazes locked solely on him. This was home. He was going to miss it, he always did. How long would it be until he began to beg to come back? To the soot ridden wasteland, rolling around in dirt and salt as he scratched their backs so they could scratch his. He would make them proud.
“THAT’S JUST WHAT I WANTED TO HEAR, FISHIE!” Bill swirled the glass in his hand, cane hooked on his neck. “NOW GO MAKE ME PROUD, OR DO I STILL HAVE WORK TO DO ON YOU?” His voice deepened, darkened, a threat laced in layers upon layers, the rumbling sound of a deity testing the will of his creation. “I will make you proud, Boss.” He gripped the sigil once more, an act of comfort, of guidance. He knew the way, so long as he let the Eye engraved into his being show him where to move.
“THEN WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? GET OUT OF MY SIGHT!” His God howled and giggled like a child, the sound shrill yet melodic, as Stan took off running.
Boots scraping against dry pale ground, fissures cracking and breaking apart like spider veins on an ancient being spanning as far as the eye could see. The only distraction in the endless sky of vibrant colors being the floating, suspended shrapnel of worlds long since lost to time, torn asunder and consumed to feed their dying prison, their dying world, their home.
He wished to be the lucky one who gets to see their world change, to stand there and stare in delight as Bill carved an Earth of their own making, a party that never ended, a victory among millions shared in the red rivers of blood from all those who doubted and disobeyed, a thick desire in his disjointed heartbeat to see what was prophesied, be the lucky fish in the endless sea to gaze upon a future carved in their Gods image, to see him spread the lovely ichor of chaos and disjointed agony into every crack and crevice of existence itself.
His destination was nearing, the drop off into the infinite void ever nearing, his hands reaching down to grip the edges as he slowed to look down, down into it. The black spiraling mass of destruction ripping and tearing at the chunk of world he put his every stake in. The thing that suspended them, kept them alive, its dying drones and grumblings heard in the white noise whispering into his eardrums, a thousand tongues he couldn’t understand murmuring promise and threat into his soul a sensation that made him writhe.
Eye open wide, he awaited his chance. The blipping, pulsing echo of unbirth ripping apart to give wrought to a colorful light of another world; one to begin his hunt that he may not return from for years to come. The thought of jumping sparked fear in him, a force that ground its heel in his spine and forced cackling from his lips, a sound wheezing and uncontrollable as he sucked in air like it would be his last. Feet digging into the ground as chunks bore from the dirt and fell infinitely into nothingness.
With a satisfied sigh at the painful thrum of life, he vaulted himself off the edge, wind blowing against him as a warning, strands of air holding his arms up and legs back, the screams of a lover trying desperately to hold its partner back from the indefinite emptiness.
Closing his eye, he relished this, enveloped himself in the warmth of a free-standing exit. He hit the ground hard as he sucked in the damp air of a new world surrounding him.
He did not know where he was, but he knew he had a purpose. He scrambled to his feet then dug his claws into the nearest wall to begin scaling it, its structure porous and alive. Thick strands stuck to him with every pull of his hands. It was soft, spongey. Mushroom, perhaps, he voiced to himself asking for agreeance in the disembodied horrors of his fragmented inner narration.
They seemed to agree.
Standing up tall, he stared down at the world below him. Thousands of people, creatures of all kinds, shambling to and fro. None looked like him. None were to be judged for crimes, lest Bill himself arrive to take the land by siege.
Growling lowly, he had a feeling this hunt would take longer than normal. He found them all quite fast, usually. Yet here he could not see a single one. Scaling back down, he clung to shadows as he made his way through this new planet. He’ll find one soon enough.
He was sure of it.

Are you quitting regency AU? I saw you haven't posted it this week...
No of course not! Sorry, I seem to have taken too many things on my plate and I didn't quite realize how full my workload is until this week!
I'm working on two fics that aren't being posted until they're done so you guys couldn't really see the progress being made on those ones
I still work on AAP, which isn't exactly hard and only takes up one day, but that's still a day, haha
I also work on a zombie AU, am starting a fairy au (you won't see that one until one of the aforementioned fics is done) and I am starting two smaller series
I recently took stock of everything I was doing and I was like oh my god, so while my interactivity is down on tumblr, I decided to refocus my energy to the two fics so I can get them done ASAP
I promise, I am not quitting Regency AU, I have way too many things I need to do with the plot to quit it. Since I didn't post anything, here's a small scene from the future that I wrote when bored
If you are missing me for content, I still do "characters as" asks and I still do headcanons, and hell, if you send me an ask game, I will gladly do it. Fuck, just send me memes for tweets and I will scream with joy. (Hell, if you want to send me an ask about some random ass bullshit, I will laugh and respond, because I love interacting with you guys)

Roach put his hands on his hips and huffed at the bars. Maybe if he glared at them deeply enough, they might magically fall off. No, he didn’t… know any incantation or spell or sigil that would magically remove bars.
He doubted Artemea would grant him such a large blessing, anyway.
Why were there even bars on this window? He wrapped his hand around one of them and shook it slightly. It didn’t give, even slightly. Roach made a frustrated sound. He couldn’t find any other windows, as this was the only one away from… everyone else.
“Are you alright?” Roach jumped at a voice from behind himself. He turned to the man, meeting warm brown eyes. The voice belonged to a man with deep scarring along his face, but despite that, or maybe because of it, he was gorgeous. Roach felt his face warm and he nodded.
‘Just fine.’ He signed, hoping the man would get the message and leave. He could smell alpha and… that made him nervous but he was a prince. If the alpha tried anything, he’d scream and blind him.
“You don’t seem fine.”
Roach jerked to stare at him. ‘You speak sign?’
“Yes. I learned as a child.” The alpha seemed almost amused. Roach frowned and looked over him, again. He was wearing a blood red suit, and a black cloak which hung half off of his shoulder. A noble.
‘I am fine.’ Roach repeated. He knew telling the truth of what he was doing would not end well for himself. So, he didn’t and instead turned back to the bars. Hmm, he didn’t know any to magically remove bars, but he knew a few that would blow things up.
God, if Kyle could see him now. He’d be so amused. He would help. But, Kyle wasn’t there… Roach was alone.
“You seem to be staring rather intently at those bars.” The alpha spoke again. Roach closed his eyes in annoyance. “I don’t think staring at them will make them disappear.”
Roach threw him a glare before again wrapping his hand around the bar. He gave it a push. Still no give. It would require a huge explosion and that would definitely be noticed. Damnit. ‘Can you make a commotion for me? Distract everyone so I can go out the big door.’
“Why would I do that?” The alpha raised an eyebrow. “Are you on the run?”
‘Yes, from my husband. Or rather… my future husband.’ Roach glanced around him down the hallway to the ceremony room was. ‘It only needs to be a small distraction. Say you found a corpse.’
“So this is your wedding?” The alpha frowned. “Why are you running away? Shouldn’t you be happy you’re marrying?”
‘Because the alpha I am to marry is said to eat omegas and use their bones to pick his teeth.’ Roach huffed. ‘And because I do not wish to marry him.’
“I doubt he eats omegas.” The alpha tilted his head. “How do you know that he wishes to marry you?”
Roach stopped and considered. Hmm, he supposed he couldn’t know that. But… ‘If he doesn’t, then he’ll be grateful I left.’
The alpha laughed softly. “Sound logical.” He shrugged. “So… what? I go to the ceremony room and… scream? Claim somebody died.”
‘Whatever freaks everyone out the most and gets them away from the door.’ Roach shrugged, perking up. So the stranger would help him. Thank the gods. ‘I could cut myself and put blood on your cloak? So it really plays it up.’
“That is not necessary. I will… not be doing that.” The stranger sighed.
Roach frowned. Well, he supposed it was a bit dramatic of a ruse. ‘You could say I passed out. Prince Garaidh is my name.’
“I know.” The stranger nodded. He was giving Roach an odd look. “Do you know what your future husband looks like?”
Roach winced, since he did not. He’d seen him a few times, but he was always wearing that mask and it was hard to get a good look at his face. ‘No. I do not. Does it matter? He likely does not know much of me.’
“That is fair.” The stranger shrugged. “Do you know anything about him? Besides his dietary habits, that is.”
Roach flushed dark, a little irritated by that. He was being made fun of, somehow. ‘No. I’ve… seen him a few times. He doesn’t seem very kind.’
“Well, I’m sorry to hear that.” The stranger seemed genuinely sorrowful. “You seem very wonderful. I am sure he would enjoy being married to you. Perhaps he could even love you?”
Roach laughed and sighed. ‘You cannot love someone you do not know.’ He was confident on that point. He would not love Ghost. He could not love Ghost. ‘Look, are you going to help me or not?’
“Sadly, I will not. I have no plans to.” The stranger sighed. “My apologies.”
Roach furrowed his brows and huffed. ‘Why not?’ The stranger had made it seem like he would help and now he was saying he would not? That was unfair. And kind of cruel. Why get his hopes up if he was going to smash them?
“I think I am already breaking many rules by seeing you. It is bad luck and not allowed.” The stranger sighed again, watching him.
Roach frowned deeply, unsure why- oh. His face flamed bright red. He didn’t respond and looked at the ground, clenching his hands into fists. He wasn’t sure if there was anything he could say to really save this situation. He’d just admitted to his future husband that he was trying to escape marrying… him…
“I have no intentions of helping my fiance escape our marriage. I am sorry.” Ghost bowed his head. “I wish you luck, though.” He then turned and left.
Roach’s face flamed bright red.

Sorry I hope this makes up for the absence!

Lost Fic #150
1. Hello, wonderful mods! I have lost a fic with a scene that I vividly remember. I think Aziraphale and Crowley accidentally fell asleep with one another (likely on a couch?) Crowley wakes up, is upset about something (to do with feels?) Aziraphale wakes and starts apologizing, something like, "I'm sorry. Was I squishing you? I know I can be quite heavy" and Crowley responds with, "No, don't be ridiculous. Of course you weren't, and you aren't." Thank you so much for all your time and work! :D - anon
2. Hi all! I read a fic a while back that I can't find. It was after dining at the Ritz and Aziraphale says at one point that of course he loves Crowley, he just, needed to wait till they were safe and he thought Crowley knew. It was a short fic, really great, now I can't find it. I know there must be a lot like this one, and it's pretty vague, but that's all I can remember. Hope you can find it, thanks! - @sharklist
3. So I've been looking for this fic for about 2 days now and I think it's deleted, but can you help me find it? All I remember is that after Crowley preened Aziraphale's wings,  Aziraphale kissed him and Crowley said "Never in 6000 did I think you would make the first move." And then poor Aziraphale was like O.o - @humanbeingwithissues
4. hello there, i looking for the fic where A discover that the book of prophecies has been burned and in the same time that C always loved it (romantically) but i don't remember the name - anon
5. Hi, I know that the mods get a ton of requests for lost fics, but I’d appreciate it if anyone could help me find one in particular (I think this is all one fic? but if it’s not, that is probably my problem). (Feel free to reformat however works best): Here are some notable details: Limbo is basically like a sexual health clinic for supernatural creatures? Crowley has an asexual vampire friend that is also his therapist.Aziraphale visits Crowley’s flat and does some protective sigil, but falls ill since Crowley had measures to keep his flat secure post Hastur/Ligur. Crowley used to be Lucifer/Satan’s throne and actually built parts of Hell. Details I think are still part of this fic:Aziraphale was/is Raphael and is asked (by Michael?) to lead Heaven after Gabriel falls, but declines.Limbo also acts as a neutral third party and Aziraphale and Crowley make an agreement with Satan/Lucifer after he realizes Crowley is his old throne. It was an incredible read, and I hope someone can help find it.Thanks for all you folks do! - anon
If you know any of these fics please include the number in your reply! Thank you :)

CHRISTMAS LOVE
LOVE OF THE ENDLESS COLLECTION
Tumblr media
dedicated to @ellooo0ooo ❤️
7 days until Christmas
Christmas was by far the favorite holiday from the waking world of Love of the Endless. Valentine's day was about love, but she always thought it was more of Desire's thing than hers, lust almost always winning from love, but Christmas was the time for joy, family and love, all things the oldest Endless cared about. The movies on this season were also her favorite, even if it was rare to be able to see it, but when it happened it did inspire her.
This year she was more than inspired to help love, not only because of the things at the waking world, but also because for the first time in forever she was truly happy. This year Y/N had Morpheus by her side and not in the sister way or the warm your bed for the night way too, he was hers as much as she was his and that was a reason to celebrate love.
Her target, in the most lovely way, were two young people. The girl was shy and very introvert, had a few friends and a lovely family, but it was hard for her to connect with other people beside them. The boy wasn't exactly like that, he was reserved but not because he had any issues in talking with people, he could socialize with anyone, but only his friends could get him. The hardest thing for Y/N was to find how to make them meet...it all started and ended with a red book in a library. Dash & Lily's Book of Dares.
5 days until Christmas
It was fun to see and help young love, at least the beginning of it. She gave the push, the rest was up to them. Maybe she would change his mind about Christmas, a date she loved and he despised and maybe he would help her get out of her shell. Something would happen, if not now then later, the thread was there and it was one of the strong one.
"My twin, I stand in my gallery holding your sigil. I ask your permission to visit your realm."
"You are always welcome at my garden, twin." Destiny's voice echoed through her gallery. A moment later Y/N was no longer in Akai Ito but at his Garden.
"Hello, Des. How delightful it's to see you and smell this beautiful roses!"
"Is that why you are here?" rarely the Endless family would visit Destiny, only for their family reunion.
"You are my beloved twin and it's almost Christmas. I always get too sentimental when it's close, you know that."
"Yes, if I am not mistaken last year you cried when that child saw that Santa Claus man for the first time."
“It was a very cute scene, but you know why exactly I am here. It’s already in your book, I’m sure, but we’re twins and you are my favorite brother.” as twins, even if being an Endless, they had a strong bond and they shared everything about their lives with each other…mostly Love did since Destiny had no life outside his realm.
“Indeed, I do.”
“It’s a little bit boring that you know everything. Can’t you pretend not to know?”
“I could certainly try. For you, of course.”
“Keep that thought for next time, alright?”
“Is there going to be a next time?”
“Oh, you know how tricky fare can be, dear twin.” another wouldn’t notice the little smile on his face, but Y/N knew him too well to miss it. The rest of their day was spent just talking about the news in Love’s life and some insight in Dream's life too.
3 days until Christmas
"Akai Ito is looking more festive than the Dreaming and it's only me and my doves there. What a shame, Dream of the Endless." she was sitting on his throne waiting for him to finish whatever problem he had to deal with.
"There is no reason for it. They are allowed to dream of this holiday if it is their wish." the place was in fact without any decoration, it was like any other day. "Surely you know it is impolite to sit on another's monarch throne."
"Well, it's not comfortable like mine so I guess you should make up to me for all this time I've spent here waiting for you." Y/N pouted at her lover and he couldn't hold back his smile at the sight.
"Perhaps you are right, my love. I should not have neglected you for such a long time." Love stood up and walked towards him and put her arms around him. "How could I ever repay such a mistake?"
"Oh, I would very much enjoy going to your chambers so you could…repay me for your lack of attention." their lips were almost touching when she said that. "Unfortunately I must go back to my realm soon, there is much to do and so little my doves can help with."
"Or you could not entertain this idea of Christmas and stay here with me." Morpheus pulled Y/N closer so he could kiss her, but she stopped him using her hand.
"It's tradition. For a few hours my beautiful doves can go back to their mortal form and enjoy their holiday. It's my power that allows that, as I have already told you many times, my dream."
"And yet I still find it not necessary."
"You take care of your realm's affairs and I will do the same with mine. I don't wish to spend our little time together fighting over our duties. Wouldn't you rather be kissing me?" Dream didn't answer her with words, but with action. While they were kissing, lord of the Dreaming couldn't help but think that he wanted for it to be their affairs from both realms, he wished to make her his queen and also be her king. The Dreaming and Akai Ito would work together perfectly, dreams and love were often tied to one another.
Every time he thought it was the perfect time something would just happen and stop him, it was getting frustrating, but before their next reunion with the rest of the Endless he would've already proposed to Love. They lost too much time, mostly because of him and his stubbornness, but after everything they were still together and in love. Nothing could break them apart now.
Christmas Eve
.
Their celebration never happened inside, not even when Love had only one dove. No, it was always outside her castle where the flowers always bloom beautifully and there was also a big fountain. It was all decorated and there was even a Christmas tree with some ornaments chosen by the other residents of Akai Ito.
"Did you do it?" Flávia's form came closer to where she was. Y/N was watching as Kyra and Paloma were dancing around the fountain. The ceremony had already started, until the sum came up they would be at their mortal's form. It always amazed the Endless to see them like this, they were all beautiful and even more when happy like today.
"Kind of. Left a gift before coming back."
"A gift?"
"Well, where would be the fun in telling him?" Y/N knew her lover and if she was correct he would soon call her through her sigil. Morpheus couldn't be mad at her, it's not he was the last to know about it. Sure, Destiny knew about it and so did all of her doves and perhaps she told Lucienne as well, but that was all. He was one of the last to know.
As always Love was right, when the clock struck midnight at the waking world Dream of the Endless went to his chambers, trying to avoid all the Christmas' dreams that made him miss his love so much. When he arrived there was the gift left by Y/N on the top of his bed, it wasn't hard to know it was hers since he knew her as well as she knew him.
A minute after midnight Morpheus was running towards his gallery, holding close to his heart a onesie saying "little princess on her way".

Post-Hoot for Clouds on the Horizon!
-Rebecca said Kikimora is now in the “Crate Coven”. Cissy added she was “Definitely not drunk”.
-There was a bit cut from the episode; When Luz goes up the flower pillar to meet Amity, Hunter tries to follow and Willow and Gus stop him, insisting he gives them a minute. Hunter asks why and the two explain he’ll understand when he’s older, and Hunter does “But I AM older.” Then when Luz and Amity look back over the balcony after the kiss, Hunter is arguing with Flapjack, “But I don’t understand, I’m the oldest one here!” The scene was animated and voice-acted, everything; But it had to be cut for time restraints. In the final cut, you can still see Hunter trying to discuss with Flapjack!
-Mela thought Kikimora’s demotion was hilarious; She suggested “Not all of our villains are villains, I think some villains are overlooked heroes” with Sarah asking “And Kikimora is a hero to whom?!” In all seriousness, she said that she thinks we can all relate to that moment of the difference between your aspirations and your actualizations.
-After auditioning, Mela didn’t get the news for her acceptance as Kikimora until eighteen months later, being told that they loved her audition; The wait was because they decided to move Kiki to the end of S1 and the season after.
-Mela’s favorite scene is Kiki’s phone call with her mom, with Sarah agreeing it broke her heart. Cissy jokingly asked if anyone in the show didn’t have mommy issues, Sarah joked about Luz’s daddy issues; In regards to Camila wanting her to be someone she wasn’t; “She just wanted me to survive, she just wanted to give me the skills to survive, she loves me as I am, but that wasn’t doing me well in the real world.”
-It’s common for VAs to record from inside their ‘sound-proof closet’, which of course is often very hot.
-Sarah didn’t know Kiki had a mouth until Hunting Palismen, which led to them joke-suggesting that Kikimora could just telepathically communicate to people without a mouth, which would be terrifying to everyone if she was a mind reader. Mela joked that invisalign was a thing in Palm Stings while in elementary, with Kikimora also wearing a turtleneck to cover her mouth. When Sarah pulled up her own turtleneck to cover her mouth, Mela joked she was Kiki’s twin sister, “Blikimora”.
-Shawn Responts did the color design for the Palisman Monster in Hollow Mind. He also did some of the color and lighting on the Lumity kiss scene! He’s been on the show since Mid-season 1, and has done season 3, where he got the promotion to lead the color design.
-Sarah auditioned in 2017, and got her call two months later in June (which is still super-long), Cissy did her audition in the February of 2018, and didn’t start recording until December that year. Sarah auditioned for Luz AND Amity!!!
-In regards to Rat Alador: According to Rebecca, when they storyboard and Alador is in there, he looks a lot like a rat, so they decided to just put in a Rat Alador.
-Cissy joke-suggested that Owlbert and Lilith’s palisman worked together behind the scenes. According to Rebecca, Lilith got to keep her palisman because she needed it to travel back in time; For the same reason, that was why Belos let Luz live.
-Rebecca isn’t sure why Lilith doesn’t have a sigil. Sarah mentioned that when people wondered why Luz’s jacket sleeves got shorter, she suggested Luz just scrunched it up (which season 3 seems to support).

merlin and arthur:
In a platonic sense, it becomes a brilliant love story between Arthur and Merlin."
jesus and his disciples:
I mean, someone had to
I want a Christian Bible Standoff Final. This one is for the gays.
yeah ill vouch for that

I love posting behind the scenes stuff, so here we go!
Here is a scrapped "apology" scene from chapter 13 of TOB, before I decided to pair it up with Selena helping Luz, thus making her much more calculated and subservient when facing Belos as she aims to manipulate him in to helping her and Luz.
It had Selena coming up on top more than in the final version, by being much more dissatisfied and angry about Hunter's rejection and by Belos being right. Her showing how much she was hurt shocks Belos in to feeling bad about being horrible to her.
It was also supposed to be the first time we start seeing Belos' POV, but I pushed that idea back a little bit
I'll start using his POV more as he starts (figuratively and literally) stripping away the Emperor persona more in front of Selena. As she starts seeing him as a person more and an Emperor less. For instance, now that in the latest chapters Selena saw him in casual clothes, without the robes and the sigil of the emperor on him, switching to his POV may happen more often.
It will only become more frequent when his mask finally does come off. As Selena sees him without the mask, she starts humanizing him, and in return, so does the reader, so to speak, by finally getting to see things from his perspective, not only Selena's.
I may come back to some pieces of this conversation in a future chapter, tho.
~*~*~*~*~
“Well you must be happy, huh?” she couldn’t help herself, fists clenched tightly at her side as the cardboard of the delivery box handle bit into her palm. “Congratulations. You were right, and I was miserably wrong. Bring on the fanfare.”
Wallowing in her own misery, she didn’t notice the confused tilt of the Emperor’s head at her sudden intrusion. “I assure you, I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
“The Golden Guard.” Selena deadpanned, unable to hide the frustration on her face “You were right, my token of kindness was unneeded and a burden. He hates it!” she had to laugh at herself as the annoyance came back full swing, and she furiously blinked back the tears “He…hates it.” she shook her head and looked away as she presented his order to him, which she held so hard her knuckles had turned white. “Here. Your order.”
She stood there like a statue, muscles taut, waiting for him to take the wretched box away so she could leave. Instead, she felt his eyes on her “There is no need to act like I take any pleasure in this-”
“Oh the hell you don’t.” Selena quickly cut him off “Of course you do! I stood up to you for no good reason and it backfired spectacularly! This weeks long passive aggressive dance was for nothing! I made a fool out of myself for nothing! ” she felt a sob come up and quickly shut up by biting her lip. She recomposed herself with a deep breath, hating the little whimper that she couldn’t contain.
“Please take your order so I can leave.”
Saying he took no pleasure in “wining” this spat was a lie, of course. He had waited for the crack to happen for far too long, knowing Hunter would explode sooner or later, as the boy had been shown kindness from others mostly by those who expected something in return. A chance to flaunt his title or to get in his good graces so they’d reach Belos himself, Hunter didn’t trust kindness. Despite yearning for it; even Belos saw how the daily treats lifted his spirits, despite himself.
So he let her continue with her little farce, waiting for him to push her away, and for her to be running back.
Well here she was, running back.
And he didn't feel any better for it.
It was supposed to be a simple grovelling apology, that's what he wanted. For her to ask for forgiveness, timid and fearful, and for him to gladly give it to her, praising her for being the bigger person and for finally seeing reason. Not…this. The guilt and anger choked up in her throat as she continued to curse herself, face flushed with embarrassment and eyes reddened with tears she barely held back, it was as heart wrenching as it was intoxicating.
And most importantly, the hurt. He hadn't expected that - she actually wanted to bond with Hunter, and the rejection left her a wreck. That wasn't part of his plan.
Admittedly, he hadn't expected her to even start this endeavor behind his back in the first place, but she had a habit of taking him by surprise. His temper flaring was not something he wanted her to see either, but the revelation she was doing something with Hunter, leaving him unaware of it, it was like a trigger being pulled, left sensitive by watching so many grimwalkers sooner or later start going behind his back.
Hunter was so much like him. Despite everything, he didn't want to replace him, not so soon. Not ever, if he could help it. Lord, give him just this one.
