- MTC: Reforging in Progress -
It's been a long while since I last updated anything but I figured I should throw a teaser.
Murder The Crow is getting Reforged! In other words, it's getting an official retcon. A total redo from all that you've seen so far.
So, here's a preview of all my characters with their respective Switch Blades and main STAB (Stan, Tide, Ange, Bolt)
Tumblr media
This picture 👆 is drawn according to that order.
It's all doodles for now but I will get to work on the actual version with colors over on the @murderthecrowofficial page.
Does this mean it's all going there from here on out? Yes. All the official stuff will go there and become law. Including the main story in the near future.
Does it mean that, @caw4brandon is going to shut down? No. But it will go through a change. Perhaps back to creative writing again or that I'll have another character take over the page rather than the trio.
I feel like, for once. I am very proud of the progress I've made so far. All the required props are in place and it's ready for the next level. I'm excited to go forward and rekindle this world, once again.

Thanks for reading

Luttinger's theorem at the core of topological matter
In 1960, Joaquin Luttinger introduced a universal statement that relates the total number of particles that a system can accommodate to its behavior under low-energy excitations. While Luttinger's theorem is readily verified in systems of independent particles, it also holds true in correlated quantum matter exhibiting strong interactions between the particles. However, and quite surprisingly, Luttinger's theorem has been shown to fail in very specific and exotic instances of strongly correlated phases of matter. The failure of Luttinger's theorem and its consequences on the behavior of quantum matter are at the core of intense research in condensed matter physics. Independent of these developments, important efforts have been dedicated to the classification and characterization of correlated insulating states of matter. In this context, it was shown that a broad class of topological insulators can be labeled by a single integer, known as the Ishikawa-Matsuyama invariant, which fully captures its transport properties.

- The STAB System: Reforged! -
All life carries a piece of the Burning Core's Gift on them. From the Hoodlites to the Humans who forged it out of the soil. This is, The STAB
The world of Kingshaven functions solely by the very obelisk that powers the life around it. A simple rule of understanding the laws of matter. While the world may call it; The States of Matter. The Havenites called it; The STAB (Short for; Stan, Tide, Ange and Bolt)
Tumblr media
The STAB is the physical embodiment of material that can affect the world at large and is harnessed by the Hoodlites and other beings of The Burning Core. Each being has one Burning Core and one ability. Their abilities each have a certain color and their effects are as addressed;-
Stan (Solid) - Cubes that is similar to crystals. They are a lot tougher to break and they act as bricks the user can build.
Tide (Liquid) - Blast of liquid that is similar to goo or polyester. Appearing to have a "yolk" and "white" and it cannot exist without the other.
Ange (Gas) - Spiral-like clouds that when sprayed upon, can cause irritations and knockout targets.
Bolt (Plasma) - Beam of charged energy that can break anything. Known simply as the strongest material, its also considered one of the most difficult element to capture.
Tumblr media
- Haven Relations -
Sometime later, the early settlers of Kingshaven collected shards of The STAB as left behind from the other beings and forged their own weapons and tools to defend themselves. Each customized and personified to the wielder's personality.
These weapons have been through several changes over the ages from transformable rods to multi-purpose staffs. But it is more popularly used in; the Switch Blade. (but that's for a different topic)
Tumblr media
From an illustration perspective, the STAB takes on a more simplified approach to its design and is illustrated in a basic way that caters more to the comical than realistic.
More will be revealed in an appointed time but that is all for now. Until the next post.

Study unveils a spontaneous toroidal polar topology in the helielectric nematic state
Tumblr media
(Zoomed toroidals. Credit: Yang et al.)
"Magnetic and electric dipoles, objects with two oppositely charged ends, have a similar symmetrical structure. One might thus assume that they exhibit similar internal structures and physical states.
Researchers at South China University of Technology in China recently showed that this is not always the case, by examining the topology of an emerging ferroelectric liquid-matter state with polarized helices, known as the "helielectric nematic state." Their findings, published in Nature Physics, show that this state has a spontaneous toroidal polar topology generated through a flexoelectric effect that favors a specific form of splay deformation of polarizations."

"In some of their previous studies, the researchers showed that a complex polar orientational field is an advantageous feature for the realization of systems exhibiting a nonlinear optical amplification known as phase-matching. As part of their future research, they would like to build on their findings to facilitate the potential development of these systems.
"Polarization engineering in crystal-based ferroelectrics is known to be very difficult," Aya added. "Thus, developing previously impossible polarization engineering in polar fluids and therefore enabling the fabrication of highly efficient nonlinear optical devices will be one of our follow-up targets.""

I wrote myself some prompts for background characters to fill up space at Peregrine High. This prompt was "A group of 4 friends, each based on a state of matter". All seniors, from left to right, we have Raine Murdock (she/her) based on liquid, Blue Byrne (xe/xem) based on plasma, Bone Brickhouse (they/them) based on solid, and Gabriel Radkov (he/him) based on gas.

The purple color of the gas above iodine crystals in a closed container (figure 7.17) provides visible evidence that this solid also sublimes at room temperature (∆subH = 62.4 kJ/mol).

Hey, what's new with you and your story?
Me? nothin much~
Still busy with work but I'm working on my story bit by bit. In case if you missed it. This is what I've been working on; I give you,
- The Switch Blade -
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This oversized wand-like thing is the personalized tool for all of my characters. Their main function is to harness and aim the STAB system into a tangible thing. Be it a weapon or tool. Its called a Switch Blade due to its transformative properties. Interchanging from its concealed form into other things the owner needs.
The tip of the Switch Blade is a unique element that can change its state between two of the four in the STAB. Hector's Switch Blade for example; uses both Bolt for its signature look but also Ange for smokescreens for a more haunting and terrifying effect to attack when the enemy is blinded.
Tumblr media
The tip is also customizable among the three shapes; Cube, Sphere and Cone carved in unique patterns to suit the owner's aesthetics. In its wand form. The Switch Blade can be used as a mini club and it can hatch out some surprises such as Sadie's Switch Blade. Mixing The Tide for its versatile mold added with the Bolt to create Electro Magnetic Pulses (EMP) and Echolocation.
The idea came to me when I was reading up about [Hiccup's Sword The Inferno] Although, my version is kind of like a cross between science and magic. The cartridges need recharging after extensive use and they are considered the most elegant weapon forged, build, and charmed by the most talented of smiths.

Fun fact:
Under the right temperature and pressure you can get to the gender critical point where you become simultaneously gender solid, liquid, and gas 😌

“An international collaboration of scientists has created and observed an entirely new class of vortices—the whirling masses of fluid or air.
Led by researchers from Amherst College in the U.S. and the University of East Anglia and Lancaster University in the U.K., their new paper details the first laboratory studies of these "exotic" whirlpools in an ultracold gas of atoms at temperatures as low as tens of billionths of a degree above absolute zero.”
“The unusual nature of the observed whirlpools here, however, is due to symmetries in the quantum gas. One especially fascinating property of physical theories, from cosmology to elementary particles, is the appearance of asymmetric worlds despite perfect underlying symmetries. For example, when water freezes to ice, disordered molecules in a liquid arrange themselves into a periodic array.
The spatial symmetry of a system is often readily identified—for example, a honeycomb has a periodic array of cells with hexagonal symmetry. Although the vortex medium used in this new work is a fluid rather than a solid array, it also possesses an internal set of hidden discrete symmetries. For example, one of the team's ultracold gases had the fourfold symmetry of a square, and another had the tetrahedral symmetry of a four-sided die, familiar to players of fantasy games everywhere.”

A Supersolid Disk
Researchers have created a disk-shaped supersolid, an achievement that could provide new routes to exploring previously unseen states of matter.
[...]
Last year, using ultracold dysprosium atoms, researchers created the first 2D supersolid—a weird quantum material that has the ordered structure of a solid but that can flow like a frictionless fluid. That 2D supersolid resembled a long, thin rhomboid, leaving open the question of whether 2D supersolids could be molded into other geometries. Now, Thomas Bland of the Austrian Academy of Sciences and colleagues give a positive answer to this question by theoretically and experimentally demonstrating a disk-shaped supersolid [1]. The team, which includes members of the group behind the earlier demonstration, says that such a 2D supersolid could be used to study quantum vortices, a key feature of supersolids’ superfluid behavior.
