Chapter 1: Christmas Beetle
The key scratched against the metal of the lock, your hand turning it as you opened the door to your flat, the smell of cooking curling around you as you stepped inside. From the kitchen you could hear your roommate Helaena humming to the music that played out of your speaker.
“Hel!” You called out, dropping your keys into the dish by the door, toeing your shoes off as you moved inside the apartment.
“In here!” Helaena sang back.
You moved your way down the hall, dropping your bag on the dining room table as you moved towards the kitchen.
Helaena stood barefooted in a singlet and pair of matching underwear. Her long silver hair piled atop her head, held together by a large butterfly clip.
“Whatcha cooking, good looking?” You asked, walking up behind Helaena who reached out to turn down the speaker that was currently playing Lana Del Reys ‘West Coast’.
Helaena turned her head, small silver butterfly earrings dangling from her ears, “Bolognese!”
The room smelt of cooking onion and tomato, and you breathed in deeply as she reached forward to put in some cut up carrots and celery inside of the ceramic large pot.
“Yum. God I love you.” You sighed, leaning back against the counter as you watched her stir in the ingredients, “What did I do to deserve you?”
“Absolutely nothing.” She grinned, reaching forward for the salt, sprinkling it atop, “Who else would feed you if I didn’t?”
“Hey! I can cook.” You frowned.
Helaena laughed loudly, “Mi Goreng doesn’t count.”
“I’ll have you know I can cook more than that.” You crossed your arms around your chest as you kicked a foot out to hit her shin softly.
Helaena jumped back, “Don’t be mean to the chef or you won’t get anything.”
You bowed, arm out in a dramatic flair, “Apologies, Your Grace.”
“Cut it out.” She pouted, “How was work?”
Hopping up on the counter, you groaned, “Don’t get me started. Larys was on my ass the whole day. Remind me why I work there again?”
“Because you need the money, and I got you the job.”
“It wasn’t just you that got me the job.” You grunted, “I have a great resume.”
“Of course you do.”
Tossing your head back against the cabinets you looks at the cream ceiling, “Ugh, how do you deal with Larys at all? He’s such a fucking creep. I swear he is always looking at me with those beady little eyes. You know the only time he has ever been nice to me was when he complimented my new shoes.” You scrunched your nose up at the thought.
Your boss Larys Strong was a man who made your skin crawl. Lanky, with a crooked build, the brunette man always had a way of getting under your skin, and you could always feel his eyes on you when you worked in the office. He hovered around other workers, asking personal questions and prying into everyone else’s personal lives, and yet you knew next to nothing about the man. A complete energy vampire.
“I’m sure he’s not that bad. Mum hasn’t said anything about him and she works with him.” Helaena pointed out, bringing the spoon to her lips to try to sauce. She hummed loudly as she dipped it again, hand beneath it as she offered you a try.
You leant forward blowing on the spoon softly as steamed poured off of it, “Yeah, but your mum isn’t the most observant person, Hel.” You sucked the sauce into your mouth, eyes closing as you moaned loudly, “Oh my god. This is heaven. If you weren’t my best friend I would marry you.”
Helaena blushed and took the spoon back from you, swatting your thigh on the bench, “That ship has sailed.”
You laughed loudly at the memory, “How was I supposed to know you were hitting on me? You said I looked like a Christmas beetle.”
“Christmas beetles are beautiful.” Helaena said indignantly, “They have many different colours and shades, and in the sun they glow.”
“Don’t you go soft on me, Hely.” You teased, kicking your legs against the cabinet with a thunk, “Besides, you can’t butter me up with this home cooked meal no matter how good it is. I can’t believe you’re leaving me here alone.” You whined, throwing your head back, “And on break too!”
“Life is a cruel mistress.” She mocked you, “You won’t even notice I’m gone." A pale hand waved itself at you in the air in dismissal, "It’s only for the month, maybe even less than that. You know I have to go see Daeron, he’s been studying at Old Town all by himself, the poor thing.”
“Yeah well, not all of us can get into the prestigious Old Town University.” You huffed, “And I will notice you’re gone, who will cook me dinner?”
“I thought you said you could cook.”
“Hel, you wound me.” You grabbed the front of your shirt above your heart dramatically.
Helaena snorted, “Suck it up. Besides, my brother is going to sublet the room for the month so you won’t be alone.”
“Hel,” You whispered, head tilted in uncertainty, “Please don’t tell me Aegon is moving in. I love you, you know this, but your brother is a sex pest. Last time he came over he called me a Gazelle.”
“A Gazelle?”
“Said I have long legs.” You grimaced.
“Ugh. Gross. He is such a manwhore.” You hummed in agreement as Helaena scrunched her face up, mouth open in disgust, “But no, Aemond is going to sublet the room.”
“Hel, that isn’t any better. Aemond?” You began, leaning forward as you looked at her uneasily, “'Can’t pry a word out of the man', Aemond? 'Messy break up with his crazy ex', Aemond? Hel are you punishing me?”
“Be nice.” She slapped your arm, adding fresh basil into the pot that simmered gently, “Aemond is sweet once you get to know him. He’s just shy.”
“The last time I spoke to him, I asked him how his day was and he just hummed at me. He hummed.”
Helaena laughed.
“It’s not funny, Hel! Who the hell just hums like that?”
A small laugh floated through her nose, “Look, Aemond was the only one I could get to sublet the room in such short notice. Especially someone I trust. Plus, he needs to get away from Harrenhal and move back to Kings Landing. Alys has really done a number on him, and I think if he gets some time away from her he will see it’s better that way.”
“Can't you ask your mum to cover the rent? You’re not exactly scraping by.”
The Targaryens were richer than most, descended from ancient royalty, even owning an island called Dragonstone, a short boat ride away from shore, where a large fortress sat atop. Helaena would sometimes go for the summer to see her cousins, and had even taken you one year.
“I don’t want anything to do with the family money. When I moved out, I made a promise to myself that I would make it on my own.”
You sighed, smiling at your best friend. She really was one of a kind, willing to go above and beyond for her friends and not freeloading from her generational wealth like her brothers did, “You’re a good person, Hel. But you’re putting my head on the chopping block.”
“Mm.”
“Not you too.” You whined.
“Better get used to it," She grinned, enjoying your distress, "Aemond will be moving into my room at the end of the week. So I expect you to behave yourself while I’m away and be nice to him.”
You gasped in mock offence, “I’m always nice!”
Helaena gave you a pointed look.
“Okay, well fine. I’ll be on my best behaviour for you.” You hopped off the counter, and put a hand on your chest and one in the air, “Scouts honour.”
“You weren’t a scout.”
“Never too late.” You grinned.
Helaena scrunched her nose at you, “You’re so annoying. Go shower, you stink.”
“I do not!” You said indignantly, turning your head to your shoulder to smell yourself.
“Well, there’s too many chefs in the kitchen and I want to have an everything shower tonight.”
You opened your mouth in mock surprise as you looked at her, a soft gasp leaving your lips. You crossed your arms over your chest as you looked at your best friend, “And who are you shaving for?” You wiggled your eyebrows at her.
Helaena blushed, “No one.”
“No.” You said in disbelief.
“Y/n-“
“Please tell me you’re not.”
Silence.
“Are you seeing Sara again?”
Helaena looked so sheepish as she went back to stirring the dinner, you moved to stand behind her, resting your head on her shin from behind as you watched her cook, “Hel, what are you hiding from me?”
“Go away, you big gnat.”
“I thought I was a Christmas beetle?”
“I’ve changed my mind. Plus you’re one to talk, I saw Cregan’s car out the front the other day as I left for work.” Helaena snipped, flustered and cheeks completely red. Her neck speckled with a blush that rose up from her chest.
“Glass houses. Besides, you can’t say the Starks aren’t scrummy.” You pinched her side and moved away from the kitchen, “I’m going to shower, and I’ll make sure to leave you some hot water so when Sara comes over tonight you’ll be all squeaky clean.” You teased.
“Shut it!”
Tumblr media
The next morning you rose early to make yourself a cup of tea, you bumping into Sara on her way out of the house. The brunette was moving quickly out the door, hair knotted at the back of her head and lips blushed.
“Morning Sara.” You greeted her as she walked past you on the lounge, clearly not expecting to see you. You lifted your mug of tea up towards her in greeting and watched as her cheeks blushed a deeper red than the top she was wearing.
“Morning.” She responded, “Sorry, I’ve got an early class to get to.”
“Its Saturday.”
“Uh-” The Stark stuttered.
“And it’s break.”
“Oh, shut up." She smirked, "Tell my brother I said 'hi.'” Smile pulling downwards on her lips playfully.
You laughed softly in the quiet of the room, and bid her a goodbye.
Sara and Helaena had been on and off for longer than you had known Helaena, and was actually how you met Cregan. Sara had set it up after a night of drinking together, and Helaena had only encouraged you to ‘let your freak fly’.
Cregan was amazing. Tall, kind, smart and with a handsomeness that only Northerners had, with these dark brown eyes that you could get lost in.
But in saying that, you weren’t compatible in anything other than sex or casual friendship. You had been sleeping together for a few months when he wanted more, and you weren’t ready for that. And so you had ended the little tryst that you had, and parted on good terms. Amicable terms.
For a while, the two of you hadn’t spoken, letting Cregan have space from you to process what had happened, but eventually you had received a text to meet up for a coffee one day, and decided you were better off being friends.
Who fucked.
Occasionally.
Helaena exited her room shortly after, her silver hair messy and wearing an oversized t-shirt that hung to her mid thighs, a large centipede with a hat on the front.
“Good morning sleepy head.” You sang to her, watching as she rubbed her eyes with the back of her hand.
“Why are you up so early?” She grumbled, clearly not having gotten much sleep.
“There’s an antique market down in the square and I thought we could go and get some trinkets.” You smiled, watching as her eyes came alight.
“Trinketville.” She spoke in a high pitched voice.
“Yup!”
Shuffling her feet towards you, she leant over the back of the couch, “When does it start?”
“Started around 7.” You grabbed your phone to look at the screen, “It’s only 8:40, so if you quickly get dressed I can drive us down and get us a park.”
“Yay!” Helaena chirped, spinning back into her room suddenly alive.
As she walked away you called out to her, “Saw Sara sneak out.”
“Huh?” Helaena yelled back.
“I saw Sara this morning!”
Helaena stuck her head out from the door, hiding her naked body behind its frame, cheeks tinged pink, “Please don’t tell me you said anything.” She winced.
“I just said good morning.” You said coyly, watching as Helaena sighed in exacerbation before going back into her room.
“You know,” You called out, standing to put your mug in the dishwasher, “You don’t have to hide her in your room. I don’t hide Cregan.”
Helaena stepped out wearing a pair of pale denim overalls, and a soft yellow shirt underneath, socks and doc martins in hand, “Yeah well, you haven’t dated Cregan.”
“I mean we kind of did.” You shrugged, leaning against the side of the couch as she sat at the small dining table to put her shoes and socks on.
“Fucking him on the couch doesn’t count as dating.”
It was your time to blush, “Close enough.”
Helaena snorted, lacing up her boots, “Aren’t you going to get dressed?” She eyed you up and down, one brow raised.
You looked down at yourself. You were in an old busted t-shirt which had far too many holes to make it physically sound, and beneath you wore some old track pants and slides.
“Whats wrong with what I’m wearing?” You asked, offence in your tone.
“What’s right with it?” Helaena grimaced, “Go get actually dressed you slob. What if there’s someone cute at the markets?”
“I will have no time for cuties as I will be too lost in the joys of finding the ultimate trinkets for my collection.” You sniffed, raising your chin in defiance.
“Borderline hoarding at this point.”
You gasped, “Hey! Says you Miss Insects.”
“Go get dressed,” Helaena insisted leaving no room for argument, “Then we will head out. Do you think they’ll have coffee?”
You laughed, “Yeah, there should be a truck.”
When you were dressed and ready, you drove yourself and Helaena down to the markets, already full of people and bursting with life.
Many people brought their dogs with them and to your delight, an old man people called Maester Orwyle was seen walking his white Persian cat inside of a pram. The cat sat with her paws crossed in front of her as she watched everyone walking past, the occasional hiss given to the dogs that passed her or children who got too close.
Helaena giggled loudly as you both passed it, moving to look at another antique jewellery stand, Helaena’s eyes immediately spotting a small, gold, dragonfly pin. Its wings had emeralds on its tips and a larger one as its head.
She held the pin in her hand, uncertain if she should get it or not, the old man behind the table trying to sell it to her.
“It’s real gold, 14 karats. Real emeralds too. A pretty broach for a pretty girl.”
Helaena smiled politely though you knew she wished to move away.
“Come on Hel, when will you ever find something like that again?” You encouraged her. Her lip was caught between her teeth as she thought.
Looking up at the greying man behind the table, you asked for the price, “How much?”
“$70.” The man replied.
Helaena moved to put the pin back down, “It’s too expensive.” She said quietly.
“Nonsense.” You whispered back. “I’ll give you forty for it.” You looked at the man.
“Forty is too low. I’ll do sixty.”
“Fifty.” You counted.
“Y/n.” Helaena hissed.
The old man hummed as he look at the two of you before he nodded, “Fifty then.”
You looked at Helaena triumphantly and watched as she sheepishly gave the man the money, clutching the pin in her hand as the two of you walked away.
“I hate when you do that. It's so embarrassing. You’re like my grandpa.”
“Did you just compare me to Otto?” You grimaced, remembering your interactions with the stiff older man. He was rather cold, and barely spoke a word to you unless to correct you, but he would brighten up when speaking to Helaena considerably.
“You leave him alone, he’s old.”
You hummed in response.
“You’ll get along with Aemond just fine if you keep that up.” Helaena teased and you stuck your tongue out at her, moving to look at some old books.
You picked up an old heavy leather book, which looked to have been buried in dust. You opened the cover gently and looked at the front page. Your eyes widened.
“Helaena!” You hissed, grabbing her to your side as you looked down at the book in your hand, “This is a First Edition.” You quietly whispered.
“Looks like the worst edition.” She giggled and you elbowed her in the side.
“Seriously Hel, these are so hard to come across! It’s ‘The Lovers of Queen Nymeria’ too, this is like old old.” You explained, excitement racing through your veins, “These are seriously hard to get a hold of!”
“God, you and Aemond are the same. I swear my dad had that in his library.”
You snorted, “Yeah, well, not all of us come from royalty, Hel. I come from a long line of peasants, which I-“
“Oh, cut it out.” She griped.
You let yourself laugh, holding the book in your hands in wonder, “They’re probably asking for hundreds for this. God, I can’t believe I’m even able to touch it right now!”
Helaena looked up at the young man who had the stall, “Excuse me, could you please tell us the price of this book?”
“Hel, it’ll be way out of my price range.” You sighed quietly.
The man turned and came over, looking at the book in your hands, “I’ll give it to you for $20.” He said with disinterest, looking at the worn cover.
“$20?!” You said in disbelief, shock crawling through you.
“We’ll take it!” Helaena responded quickly, handing he man $20 from her small silver purse.
“Hel, I’m paying for it.”
“Nope!” She popped the ‘p’ as you moved away, holding the book in your hands in shock. “This is my gift to you, plus you saved me the money for the pin, aaaand you can take it as me buttering you up because mumboughtmeanearlierflight.” The last part of her sentance was speedily blurted as she turned to look at you, offering you a remorseful smile.
“You bitch.” You narrowed your eyes at her, “You’re lucky I love you.”
You walked side by side, looking at the rest of the stalls, finding some fun little things before the two of you decided to go home, exhausted from walking around in the hot sun for hours.
When you arrived back at the apartment, Helaena slumped onto the couch the two of you had found on the street years back. It was a light brown velvet, with dark wood detailing. An absolute classic.
The silver haired girl sighed, tugging her bag onto her lap as she begun to line up her buys of the day on the table.
You joined her, placing your book on the table followed by a small, vintage, golden mirror and a large candle holder for your room. Helaena had bought her pin, a small blue skirt with little green beetles on it, as well as a large framed Luna Moth.
You let your head drop to her shoulder, “I’m going to miss you.” You whined, tapping your head onto the bone of her shoulder.
“You big baby, I’ll be back in no time.”
“But you’re leaving me on breaaaak. What about all the hotties we were going to pick up at the bars?”
Helaena laughed loudly as she rested her head against the top of yours, “Plenty of time to do that when I get back.”
You grunted, “Don’t act like you didn’t tell me you are leaving earlier. You said end of the week.” You pulled away and looked at her with your eyes narrowed, “When are you leaving now?”
“Tomorrow.” Helaena sighed.
“Tomorrow?! What!”
Helaena began to fiddle with her hands in her lap, her pale fingers picking at the skin at her nails. You watched as Helaena became quiet, shut in, and a sudden wave of anxiety moved through you.
“Hel, what’s wrong? Has Sara done something?” You questioned, head dipping to try and catch her eyes.
“Dads sick.”
Your brows furrowed as you looked at her, “Has he gotten worse?” You asked softly.
Helaena’s dad had been sick for a long time, when you had met her she was worried, but knew there was nothing that she could do. Her visits to her family home back then were frequent, but as time went on, her visits became less, and she had assured you that his team of carers and her mother could handle it.
“It’s not good.”
“I’m so sorry.”
“It’s okay,” She gave you a sad smile, “It was going to happen one day or another. Mum wants us to go back to see them at the Keep, so I’m going to Daeron’s to get him and we will go together.”
“But what about Aemond? Will he be going with you?”
Helaena let out a quiet breath, “Dad doesn’t have the best relationship with Aem and Egg. Pretty sure my sister will be at the Keep with my nephews, and well,” She paused, and you knew why, “You know Aem doesn’t have a good relationship with them.”
You remembered the day Helaena had told you about Aemond’s fight with Lucerys when they were kids and the accident. You had felt terrible hearing the news, but now understood why tensions in the family were so strained. Not to mention that Helaena’s sister Rhaenyra, from his first marriage, was largely favoured over his other three children.
But from all accounts that Helaena had told you, Rhaenyra was a lovely woman, and incredibly kind to her.
You grabbed Helaena’s hand and held it, “Let me know if you need me to come, yeah? Or need anything of me. I mean anything. You need me, I’ll be there.”
Helaena gave you a gentle smile as she nodded, “Thanks, but I’ll be okay. Maybe you could come to the Keep and stay a week or something once I'm settled.”
“Will that hunky Criston be there?” You waggled your eyebrows at her.
Helaena's face morphed into disgust, “Ewww. I don’t see what you see in him.”
“What? He’s hot, plus him being your mums bodyguard makes it so much hotter.”
“He’s not her bodyguard.” Helaena argued.
“Sure, then he just follows her around like a lost puppy and is paid to look pretty. Anyhow, when is Aemond coming since you go tomorrow?” You rested your head back against her shoulder, fiddling with her hand in her lap as you wiggled her fingers with yours.
“He said he’d be driving his old chevy Vhagar in, so who knows how long that will take. If it doesn’t break down on the way.” Helaena snickered.

a short (1,089 words) rivals duo fic about food as love and friendship for @sixteenth-day-event's love month.
Dream didn’t cook.
He had lived on golden apples and pieces of beef that could only charitably be called ‘steak’ and ‘cooked’ and then later he had lived on potatoes, raw and mealy. It had taken months to get the taste out of his mouth. Months of Techno encouraging him to eat until Dream was able to keep down more than a few bites at a time.
It had to be frustrating. Dream had been frustrated, knowing that he needed to eat and knowing his stomach and mind would rebel against it. There had been times he had lashed out and had swept the dish off the table and Techno had rolled his eyes and called him a toddler and a baby and cleaned up the mess.
And he still cooked for Dream, despite it all.
This is so stupid, thought Dream with a groan.
He gripped the edge of the counter and looked down. Half the ingredients of Techno’s pantry sat out: carrots, mushrooms, onions, even potatoes. There were herbs that Dream didn’t know but had passed his sniff test and raw beef that he had dug out of the ice chest.
He had no idea what he was doing.
If Techno was here, Dream would ask him but he was out all day with Phil doing something that was supposed to be secret but Dream knew about anyway because Techno talked and, besides, this was meant to be a surprise.
“How—How hard can it be?” Dream asked the empty kitchen, trying to hype himself up. Outside, the sun was just a little below the halfway point in the sky. “It’s just fucking vegetables and shit in water.”
It was a lot harder than Dream thought.
His hands shook trying to chop the vegetables evenly, the missing fingers making it hard to grip the knife properly and there was one moment where his hand slipped and he grazed his finger, a tiny drop of blood welling up, and Dream had to sit down until he stopped feeling as if his head was full of static. But he had done it.
He had chopped the vegetables (even the potatoes) and then had cut the meat into chunks and had to stop himself from thinking about how easily a person could be carved up. As soon as he was done, Dream had tossed the knife into the sink and refused to look at it again.
Wiping his sleeve across his forehead, Dream began to season his stew. He smelled each herb, tasted some of the spices, dumped a little too much salt into the water and scrambled to scoop what he could out and then tried to mask it with a little more pepper and rosemary. He found dandelion greens and added those, too.
It didn’t taste anything like the stews that Techno made. Dream frowned.
He needed something.
In the back of Techno’s pantry, there was a dusty bottle of beetroot wine, labeled with Phil’s handwriting. That would work. Dream carefully scooped out some more of the water and then poured in half the wine. He added more herbs and spices but stayed away from the salt.
It still wasn’t right and Dream went to the ice chest and pulled out the butter and added a chunk.
Then he put the lid on the pot and let it simmer until Techno got home.
• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •
Steam rose off the bowl of stew sitting in front of Techno.
Across the table, Dream was watching him intently, his own bowl untouched, hand on the spoon, waiting for Techno to take the first bite.
“Y’know, you really didn’t have to do this, Dream,” said Techno, stirring the stew a bit.
“Yeah, I know but—but you always cook and I thought—I wanted to cook for...” Dream trailed off, shifting in his seat, finally looking away. “Whatever.”
Techno smiled.
“Nah, I appreciate it, man,” he said. “It looks good.”
That wasn’t a complete lie: the vegetables were clearly painstakingly cut into chunks all of a similar size as was the meat and the broth had a hearty, deep red color to it. Unfortunately, it colored almost everything with a reddish-purple tint to it but that was fine.
It certainly looked better than it smelled because it smelled like Techno’s entire spice rack had been dumped into the pot.
But Dream visibly perked up at his words.
“Yeah? I mean, I didn’t have, like, a recipe or anything.”
I can tell, thought Techno. He said, “Listen, Dream, the secret to cookin’ is you’ve got to cook from the heart, alright?”
A blush, pink and splotchy, colored Dream’s cheeks.
“Ugh. Just—Just eat the stupid stew,” said Dream, not moving to pick up his own spoon.
Techno took a bite.
It wasn’t awful though Techno would have never called it good. There was an odd lack of salt and an even odder mix of herbs and spices, not all of which went together, and a buttery taste that he wasn’t expecting. The beetroot wine was a bit overpowering.
He took another bite.
“Is it—is it alright?”
There was an eagerness on Dream’s face, nervousness in his voice, as he watched Techno.
Techno hadn’t been lying when he said the secret was to cook from the heart. The fact Dream had gone out of his way to cook anything when food had been such a sticking point for him, the fact he had willingly used potatoes when there had been a point he would gag at the mere sight of them, meant something.
It meant a lot.
Techno took another bite, bigger than the first two, and spoke around the mouthful.
“It’s amazin’. You wanna do all the cookin’ from now on?”
Dream scoffed but the blush had deepened and a pleased sort of relief had settled on his features. It softened some of the harshness left behind from the prison.
“Hell no.”
“I’m teasin’ you, Dream,” Techno said, still eating.
Dream pushed his spoon around his own bowl. He was quiet for awhile as Techno ate.
“Yeah—Well, to be—to be fair, you do all of the cooking and I know I’m a pain in the ass,” he said, finally, and finally lifted a spoonful of stew to his mouth. Dream’s features twisted in disgust. “This is fucking awful.”
Techno snorted, reaching across the table to pat Dream’s hand.
“I don’t mind.”
One of Dream’s eyebrows jerked upwards.
“Really?”
“Really.” Techno pushed his chair to back to stand. “Now, I’m gonna get another bowl.”

Hi, boo! I have a request to make since I've been feeling icky the past few mornings due to allergies.
Loki is introduced to chocolate for the first time by reader. Bonus points for Gryffindor if there's smut involved 😉😉
I'm talking...chocolate fondue type smut..if you catch my drift 😜
Tumblr media
Welllll since it's you, and since you have crummy allergies making you feel bad, and since I love you...buckle up baby 🍫I hope you feel better very soon! x
You asked for this.

The rustle of unfamiliar foil made Loki cast a glance over his shoulder.
He did a double take.
"Another Midgardian health food, is it?" he drawled, continuing to chop carrots with methodical grace.
He could have cut that sarcasm, too.
You rolled your eyes. His playful barb recalled the time you spent trying to convince him doughnuts were peak nutrition when he caught you with a box of twelve in bed.
Smiling at the memory, you paused to enjoy the sight of his triceps flex against his t-shirt with every careful thud of the knife.
"No," you chimed, leaning on the counter and breaking off a piece of the huge bar of chocolate. Loki looked over his shoulder again, eyebrows raised. "Really?" he crooned. "Well, what's life without a little naughtiness mmm?"
The god set the blade down, spinning to face you with a carrot stick poised between his fingers. He brought it to his lips. The subsequent crunch made your pussy clench.
He chewed.
He swallowed.
"May I?" he asked, tilting his head with a smirk. You looked at the chunk of chocolate in your fingers. It had begun to melt. You could blame the primal heat steaming off Loki for that.
"I don't think you'd like it," you quipped, smiling sweetly as his eyes narrowed in warning.
You popped the square in your mouth.
In two strides, Loki had you caged against the counter-top.
He stared down at you, random strands of curl brushing against your cheeks. "We'll see about that," he breathed playfully, nudging his nose against your forehead. Like a magnet, your chin rose. His tongue grazed against your lips, impatient for entry.
You felt yourself melt into him like the chocolate warming in your mouth. A warrior woman turned putty in his ridiculously dexterous hands. Loki's tongue swept and tangled with your own. Deep, silken waves that made you lose yourself.
He was tasting it. Swallowing, before delving deeper. Wetter. More-
Loki moaned down your throat, before hoisting you onto the counter. He spread your legs, releasing a ragged gasp before mounting your mouth with his own once more. You could feel his cock pressed against your inner thigh, hard and furiously ready to do his basest will. And yours.
There was a slurp as he withdrew. You sat there, panting with your eyes closed.
"I like it," he purred, slurring quietly against your parted lips.
You heard foil rustle beside you, glancing down in a haze to see Loki's fingers rubbing seductively through the chocolate 's break-lines. You squirmed on the counter, grasping needily at his shirt.
He pressed his cock against your heat, proud brow twitching as you released a frustrated mewl of his name.
"I want more-" Loki growled. He looked down through half-lidded eyes, a wicked glint making them shine as the foiled rustled again.
"-so let's see what we can do with the rest of this, shall we?"

Chicken Soup
warnings: spoilers
____________________________________
"At this point, I shouldn’t be surprised anymore, but you really ought to take better care of yourself, baby.", you said, as you handed him the bowl. Steam rose from the clear broth and he sniffled.
Shoyo had, once again, been very smart and played hide and seek with his team, grown ass men by the way, in the park after practice last night - at the end of winter. In the chilly rain.
(You had already scolded the other Jackals for it and were pleased to see them appropriately intimidated by your wrath, albeit your usually so endearing chubbiness.)
And now, your husband was lying in bed with a cold. He smiled down at the chicken soup you made for him and you could have sworn his ears blushed when he saw that you had cut the carrots into a heart shape.
He beamed at you as you sat down on the side of the bed, dunking a clean cloth into a bowl of cold water to gently dab at his burning forehead and neck. Maybe you should head to the pharmacy again to stock up on more medicine. The doctor had said simple bedrest and lots of fluids would be enough but Shoyo often defied laws of nature, so some extra reinforcements couldn’t hurt. Absentmindedly, you brushed a few strands of his fiery hair out of his eyes, then noticed him staring.
"Don't look at me like that, I'm still mad at you."
He took a carrot heart on his spoon and, lifting a smug brow, gave you a cheeky smile.
"No, you're not."

a/n: oh my gosh! A request for Shoyo and such a cute one 🥹 thank you so much, I hope you like it 🌱

“What are you doing?”
Guan Shan doesn’t pause as he drops a piece of stir fried carrot on He Tian’s bowl.
“Feeding you, you ungrateful dick.” Guan Shan says over a mouthful of sweet and sour fish. And then, just to prove his point, he also picks up a slice of mushroom and deposits it on top of He Tian’s rice. “Eat up.”
“What am I a rabbit?” He Tian grouses as he picks at the different vegetables Guan Shan kept on piling at his bowl over the course of dinner. There’s not even any meat in it. “I don’t remember being a vegetarian.”
“Oh, believe me. I know you’re not.”
He Tian makes a face at the greens on his bowl which Guan Shan pointedly ignores. Beside them, Jian Yi and Zhan Zheng Xi are fighting over the last piece of shrimp. On both ends of the table sit Qiu-ge and He Cheng quietly eating and the only ones exercising proper dining etiquette.
Zhan Zheng Xi snags the last piece of shrimp but willingly relinquishes at Jian Yi’s pout. Qiu-ge rolls his eyes at the exchange as he reaches between them for another slice of pork feet.
They weren’t supposed to be part of dinner. The whole affair was supposed to be just for two. He Tian got a new place downtown and asked (read: demanded, made) Guan Shan come over and cook them a housewarming dinner. Ten minutes into Guan Shan bossing around He Tian to cut vegetables, the doorbell rang because somehow Jian Yi found out and wanted a free meal as usual. He bodied his way in with Zhan Zheng Xi in tow because where Jian Yi goes he goes.
He Cheng and Qiu-ge arrived just as they were setting the table. He Tian had hit Jian Yi over the head for being a blabber mouth and didn’t want to let them in, but Qiu-ge muttered something about a burned house and a flooded bedroom as he pushed He Tian aside. He never did forget that incident the one (and only) time he bought them dinner. At least they brought dessert and wine. The good expensive kind.
Guan Shan just thanked all fuck he followed his gut and made enough food to feed more than four.
He moves to put a piece of bok choy on He Tian’s bowl but his chopsticks get intercepted. He looks up and meets He Tian’s eyes.
Stop. Don’t you dare.
His hand moves and drops it on the bowl anyway, delicately balancing it amidst the rice and all the other vegetables He Tian has moved around and still refuses to eat.
I dare.
“Fuck, Guan Shan. If you insists on shoving a balanced meal down my throat at least put some meat in it too.”
“Fine,” Guan Shang sighs muttering ‘picky eater, fucking child’ under his breath. “There.”
He puts a piece of chicken breast on He Tian’s bowl. Steamed. No Sauce. White meat.
He Tian sends him an annoyed smile. The glint in his eyes tells Guan Shan he’s about to try his patience some more and do something stupid.
“I’ll eat the vegetables if you feed them to me, darling~.”
He Tian says this with a sugary smile not caring if He Cheng is literally on the same table and witnessing his brother acting shamelessly. His tone is lilting with the pet name as an annoyingly cloying cherry on top, all meant to embarrass Guan Shan, he knows, but years of being exposed to He Tian’s shamlessness has somewhat immuned him to his antics. Somewhat.
This is one of those times. Guan Shan takes food and nutrition very seriously.
“Fine.” Guan Shan picks up the piece of bok choy and puts it near He Tian’s mouth. “Open up.”
He Tian rears back as he looks at the piece of vegetable like it personally offended him. Then he looks at Guan Shan, nonchalantly but expectantly holding up his chopsticks as if feeding a child, and glares.
“Mo Guan Shan.” A warning.
“He Tian.” A challenge.
The table has grown silent as everyone watches the exchange. He Cheng sips at his wine and continues to eat, acting like he doesn’t care and pretending the scene in front of him doesn't interest him, but He Tian knows he’s waiting as well. No one has ever succeeded in making him eat his vegetables. Not the baby sitters, not the maids, not He Cheng, not even their own mother.
He Tian’s glare intensifies, feeling like a cornered animal. There’s oyster sauce dripping down the bok choy’s stem. He tries to convey a promise of wicked retribution to try and scare Guan Shan into backing down but he just meets He Tian's glare with a look that says 'If you don't eat your vegetables I will never cook for you again. Ever.'
And He Tian can say he doesn’t care. It’s just food after all and he's got the money to eat good food whenever the fuck he wants if he feels like it. But the truth is it’s a real threat because he’s always really liked Guan Shang’s food. His cooking has truly elevated ever since he started apprenticing under a chef that own’s a famous family restaurant at Dongcheng. He’s saving up money to go to culinary school next year. Get proper professional training and get certified. When that happens, Guan Shan’s food is gonna be stupidly hella good and if He Tian doesn’t yield now Guan Shan will surely make good with his threat. He'll probably still cook for Jian Yi and Zhan Zheng Xi just to spite him and He Tian really doesn’t want that.
So He Tian opens his mouth and lets Guan Shan feed him his stupid vegetables.
Beside them, He Cheng stifles a smile through his wine glass. ‘Whipped’ his eyes taunts and He Tian glares at him acidly through his mouthful of bokchoy.
Later, when the table has been cleared and they’ve all had dessert, He Cheng gets a call and he and Qiu-ge excuse themselves to leave. He Tian walks them to the door, anticipating an order or a job assignment. There usually is something whenever He Cheng gets a call that requires him to leave immediately.
“Nice wife you got there,” He Cheng comments as he puts on his coat.
A teasing instead of an order.
It catches He Tian off-guard. His eyes stray to where Guan Shan is making Jian Yi do the dishes while Zhan Zheng Xi cleans the pots and pans. He’s got a plain white apron on and a towel drying a plate Jian Yi has finished washing. He makes him redo it when he deems it not clean enough. The kettle sounds off and Guan Shan goes to turn it off. There’s three mugs with instant coffee on the counter and one with a teabag of green tea for Jian Yi.
And suddenly, He Tian is hit with the word. Wife. Guan Shan will blow his top off if he finds out he’s being referred to as such so He Tian thinks of another word. Husband. The word hits him like a freight train, heady with the images it implies.
Fuck. He Tian will gladly be called the wife if he gets to call Mo Guan Shan his husband.
“He’s uh—Huh. Hm. Yeah. That’s—He’s…Yeah.”
He Cheng follows Qiu-ge out the door. He lights up a cigarette, shaking his head at his brother and thinks, 'Whipped'.

I had to split also this part because it was too long lol. Daddy!Howl at the beggining, but then just a loong chat with Calcifer that you won't like. 👀
No nest yet, but there will be I hope in the next part.
Baby dove pt.2 (Daddy!Howl)
You didn't know when you fell asleep. And you were still half asleep when Howl woke you up. He held a steaming bowl of beef and carrot stew in one hand and a spoon in the other. He smiled lovingly at you. "Earlier I came to call you for dinner but you were sleeping soundly, so I let you rest. But we can't leave you hungry all night, can we?" He gave your tummy a quick tickle which made you giggle involuntarily as you sat up. He also sat on a stool next to the bed, facing you. He used the spoon to mix the bowl thoroughly, taking it out with little bits of meat on top. He blew on it to cool it down, before bringing it to your lips. "Here, open wide." And so you did, opening your mouth and allowing him to feed you. The fact that you actually opened your mouth to protest didn't matter. "Good little bird. Oh, wait." Some broth dripped down your chin and he promptly pulled a napkin from his pocket to clean it. Cleaning your face was something he did daily at the table. You hated it. You never had time to grab your napkin before you could already feel his rubbing against the corner of your mouth. God, Markl occasionally managed to get the tip of his nose dirty while eating, but the bastard never said anything to him and h could clean himself, even using the sleeve of his shirt. Then once you tried to do the same but that asshole stopped you, warning you that you would get your clothes dirty. Of course, the next moment his napkin was rubbing your cheek.
You continued to accept, this time for real, the morsels he gave you until the bowl was completely empty. You were tired again at this point and laid back down as he tucked you in. Not without obviously cleaning your face first, again. In a way, you were really hoping that Howl would get mad at you for running away from home. Maybe he was lenient in the evening because he saw you overwhelmed and tired, so he wanted to postpone the scolding until the next day. It wasn't as if you wanted a scolding or punishment, you would just feel even more degraded and infantilized. But his nonchalance made it seem as if it wasn't a bother looking for you around the city. As if it was a simple walk you took together. But in the morning, he woke you up gently as always, asking if you had a good night. No reference to what happened, just a mockery when you realized you were wearing pajamas: you hadn't changed before falling asleep, so he took care of it when he came up to call you for dinner, even tucking you under the blankets. "Did the walk exhaust you that much?" he joked, to which you simply shrugged. Too embarrassed to think about him undressing you and how you stayed asleep. But that was all. Neither Markl nor Calcifer asked you any questions. And so the day, like the day after, went on normally. Do some household chores, help mix potions, give wood to Calcifer. And Howl was his usual self, taking care of you lovingly, helping you get dressed even though you were perfectly capable of doing it yourself, cutting the food on your plate even though you knew how to properly use a knife without cutting yourself, wiping your face with that damn napkin even if you were sure it was already clean. Maybe it was the lack of punishment that pushed you to wait for the right opportunity to try again. On the third day after that attempt, you headed down the stairs, determined to make it this time. At this moment Markl was out, Howl was finally out, since he had never left the castle again, probably to keep an eye on you.
From the fireplace Calcifer watched you curiously. "What are you doing?" You approached the door: the arrow pointed to black, which worked in your favor. When the wizard went to that door, he wouldn't return before dinner. You managed to have many hours of advantage this time too. You had to make good use of them. "Just…going to get some air. I promise I'll be right back." you answered the demon vaguely, rotating the dial so that the arrow was now pointing to blue. Kingsbury was out of the question now, and even going out on the Waste was a bad idea on all fronts: you'd have to jump from a moving castle, hoping it wasn't on the edge of a cliff at the moment, wander around for who-knows-how-much and for who-knows-where and pray not to meet the Witch. Porthaven was the safest choice. You could sail on a boat and left the city right away, and besides, with the clothes you were wearing, it would have been easier to blend in with the locals. This time you had to a white collared sweater, tucked into a pair of high-waisted brown trousers. You had to admit that overall they were comfortable and the sweater kept you warm, although the red bow tied on the collar and the matching hat you saw for sure in the closet made it look more like a children's school uniform. It was the only thing you argued about with Howl that morning. Of course your protest was ignored as that asshole finished tying it up and commented on how stylish you looked. And adorable. At least now you didn't have to worry about things like that anymore. You would have succeeded for sure. You grabbed the handle and turned it. The door didn't move. You tried again. No matter how much you tried to pull, it stayed put, as if someone had locked it. Which wasn't possible, because Markl was the last one out and never blocked it. Hell, probably it doesn't even exist a key. "Um, you can't do that." Calcifer explained to you, visibly embarrassed "Howl told me not to let you out of here." He grabbed a wooden log, avoiding your gaze "He doesn't want you to go out alone…like last time. You know, in case you get lost or worse, see the Witch again…" "WHAT?" You screamed so loudly that the demon hid in fear under a pile of ash. You approached the fireplace menacingly "It makes no sense! The Witch can't come to Porthaven! I'll be safe! I want to go out! NOW!" Calcifer stuck his head out "I'm really sorry, but you know I can't disobey his orders! You have to ask him if-eek!" You kicked the chair near the fireplace, knocking it over. That bastard Howl! That filthy bastard Howl! Who did he think he was, keeping you locked up here? Exhaling loudly, you pushed the chair back up, before collapsing into it and closing your eyes. What could you do? The windows probably wouldn't have opened either and using the small balcony upstairs wouldn't be a good idea, unless you wanted to jump down from about twenty metres. No, the only escape was through that door. Maybe you could wait until Markl reopen it when he return, then jump out and run. You felt bad at the thought of having to use force against a kid. And you felt even worse when you wondered if Calcifer's magic was limited just to shut doors and windows. If Howl told him not to let you out, you probably won't succeed anyway… A faint clatter brought you out of your thoughts. The demon had reached out to place a cup next to you, retreating soon after. He was probably afraid of another outburst of anger. "It's warm milk. You should drink it, the cup is not so hot." You accepted it gratefully, sipping the white, creamy liquid inside. It left a sweet aftertaste, maybe honey had been added. Relaxing. "This is the first time you've cooked of your own." You joked "Actually, how did you manage to prepare it? Do you have your own personal pantry under all that ash or what?" "Ah! My personal pantry! It would be a dream, always full of wooden logs and bacon." His flames grew redder as he rambled on about how he would like to eat a slice of bacon, it had been weeks since the last time.
But something didn't convince you. "Calcifer. How did you make the milk?" This made him agitated. "Oh, well, it's easy, I've been keeping him here next to me and warming him up, all this time. You know, I'm a fire demon, for me something like this is child's play, ahaha." "Calcifer!" "Howl did it! Don't blame me, I only follow orders!" And with that he lowered himself to his eyes under the embers. "What did he tell you? To give it to me if I thought about killing him?" You gripped the cup in your hand "No…in case you threw a tantrum." The cup broke into pieces when you threw it at him. The milk spilled into the fireplace as he moved around trying not to get wet "Hey, hey, I told you not to blame me!" He took refuge on top of the other pieces of log, which fortunately were dry. He looked at you irritated "I have to do what he orders me, if you don't like something talk to him. What's up with me?" "You thought I was a child who threw a tantrum!" "No! I just saw you stressed and thought it was a good time." His flames flickered quickly "Listen, he's never acted so… overprotective, not even with Markl. I don't know what's gotten into him and I know you want to run away, but try to hold on and not get into trouble, okay? it will pass sooner or later." "Hopefully sooner than later." you huffed, going to grab a rag to clean up the milk that was dripping down the fireplace. It already dried near the embers and the demon returned to its place. You tossed the rag aside and slumped into your chair once more. Calcifer stared at you silently, chewing on a couple of broken pieces of the cup. “How long do you think it will take?” you asked after a couple of minutes. “I'm going crazy and I've only been here a week.” "It's hard to say. Honestly, I don't know what he found so interesting about you but, with all the precautions he's taking, I don't think he'll let you go any day now." “And you won't let me go either, right?” "Stop accusing me!" the flames turned bright red again "I'm tied to him, I can't do anything about it. If it were up to me, I would have kicked all 3 of you out of here!" He ate another piece of pottery, this one longer and thinner. It had to be the handle. You fiddled with the bracelet, rotating it around your wrist. This is also a gift from the Wizard. It was enchanted to protect you from the Witch, he told you so as he tied it. A simple silver band set with small gems. You didn't know how it was supposed to work, but you were sure it would. If that crazy man feared so much for your safety, he certainly wouldn't have let you get into such great danger. And the way he reassured you that first night, while you were crying on his chest after the nightmare, sounded quite sincere. Calcifer finished eating all the shards and calmed down "Anyway, even if I let you out, Howl would find you and bring you back here. Haven't you learned your lesson?" “I was just lost!” you defended yourself "That's why I chose Porthaven this time, it's smaller and I would have been able to leave for sure." But he just shook his head. "You're forgetting that he's a Wizard. Haven't you figured it out yet? He found you because he already knew where you were. You could even board a boat and sail across the North Sea, he'd know perfectly well. Trust me, from the moment you leave that door, you lost." A shiver ran down your spine. You weren't sure if you would like what you were about to know. "So he…"
“As soon as you closed the door he came out of the bathroom and came down laughing.” Calcifer took on a more yellow hue and stretched upwards. His voice tried to take on a deeper tone, a funny imitation of Howl. "Eh, it seems my little dove didn't want to wait for me. I better not let them out of my sight." The demon (Calcifer) then returned to his original form. "And after that he left. When you returned, I thought he had accompanied you around the city, since you were out all that time. But before he went to sleep, he told me that he simply followed you from above as you wandered around. And then he charmed the door, telling me not to let you out." You felt a knot in your stomach during the story. You weren't liking what you were knowing. "But…but how does he do it? I mean…he's a wizard, not a seer! How does he know where I am?" Calcifer pointed to your hand "Try taking it off." "Huh?" "The bracelet. Try taking it off." You stared at it. You already tried to take it off once: you wanted to take a bath but you feared damaging it. Howl simply told you that it was enchanted and the silver wouldn't be ruined by water. You hadn't thought about it since then. You probably should have. You were sure there had been a box clasp when he had you put it on, but now you couldn't see any. The only solution was to take it off, but the band was wrapped tightly against your skin. You could move it around your wrist, but not let it go past your hand. It wasn't enchanted just to protect you from the Witch, was it? "There's a tracking spell. Plus something else to keep you from taking it away" he explained. "Oh, along with a protection one, of course." He added as if it was supposed to reassure you, but it didn't.
It was more than just a bracelet.
It was a chain. A chain that tied you to him. And that you couldn't get rid of. You started crying and sobbing.

11. “I’m not fine. I know I said I was but I’m not.” for sashnetra
Idk what this is I finished it tonight as part of my goal to publish something every month 😂 it’s not really hurt/comfort, it’s not really angst, but some secret third thing. I hope you enjoy regardless!
Read on Ao3
~~~~~~
Sasha looked across the table at her girlfriend. Anetra was pushing the food around her plate wordlessly, eyes glued to the table. It wasn’t like her, and Sasha was worried.
“Babe, are you sure you’re okay?” Sasha asked for what was probably the fiftieth time that night.
“Yes, and stop asking.” Anetra said curtly, spearing her fork into a steamed carrot with far more force than necessary.
Sasha sighed, pressing her fingers into her temples and counting to 5 in her head. It wouldn’t do anyone any good for her to snap at Anetra right now, but she was at her wits end trying to get her to open up.
“Sweethea—“
“I’m fine, Sasha. Stop patronizing me,” Anetra interjected, finally tearing her gaze away from her uneaten plate of food to glare at Sasha.
It caught Sasha off guard, and she felt her palms go slightly clammy. All she wanted to do was help, but somehow she’d made an even bigger mess of this. Still, she couldn’t just drop the subject. In the six months they had been together, Sasha had never once seen Anetra like this.
Anetra seemed to notice the minute change in Sasha’s demeanor. That or the weight of whatever was happening became too much.
It looked like Anetra deflated. Her shoulders sagged and her irate expression melted off to something hollow and haunted. “Sorry. I didn’t mean to get upset,” she mumbled. Sasha’s heart broke a little. Carefully, she extended her hand, supine. After a moment’s hesitation, Anetra reached out, entwining their fingers and squeezing gently.
“I didn’t mean to upset you,” Sasha started carefully, rubbing her thumb along the back of Anetra’s hand. Anetra swallowed thickly and Sasha watched, gauging whether or not she was about to try.
“You didn’t– It’s nothing–” She cut herself off to stare at the ceiling in a move Sasha knew all too well. She was trying to keep tears at bay. “I just… I’m not fine. I know I said I was, but I'm not,” she said finally, blinking hard before meeting Sasha’s eyes again. Sasha’s heart broke again.
“Oh, my baby. Come here – dinner can wait,” she said softly, squeezing Anetra’s hand.
Anetra bit her lip harshly, hard enough to leave an imprint. “Can we go to the couch?”
“Of course we can.” Sasha stood up, keeping her grasp firm enough to hopefully be grounding.
They walked, hand-in hand, across the threshold into the living room. Sasha sat down first, pulling Anetra down so she was on her lap, arms snaking around her waist. “Is this okay?”
Anetra just nodded, burrowing into Sasha’s frame. It seemed, from the outside at least, that she was trying to make herself smaller. Sasha’s grip tightened minutely. “Do you want to talk about it? We don’t have to.”
Anetra shifted, nuzzling her face into Sasha’s shoulder before speaking. “I ran into Marcia.” Her voice was muffled, talking directly into the soft wool of Sasha’s cardigan. “At the store.”
Sasha swallowed a lump, trying to keep her own emotions in check. Anetra needed her to be strong right now. “Oh love, I’m sorry, that must have been jarring. Did she say anything to you?”
Anetra shook her head and Sasha could have sworn she heard a tiny sniffle. “She acted like she didn’t even know me… We were together for five fucking years and she acted like I was a total stranger,” Anetra’s voice broke and Sasha held her close, rubbing circles onto her back.
“I’m so sorry…” Sasha felt helpless. She didn’t know what to say, how to comfort Anetra. How could she possibly condense 5 years worth of relationship trauma into a genuine comfort? It felt like an impossible task. Useless platitudes sat on the tip of her tongue. “You deserve better than that,” she tried finally.
Anetra pulled back slightly, wiping her eyes with her sleeve. “Yeah. I do. I’m gonna go take a bath.” She carefully unwound herself from Sasha’s grip, standing up and heading towards the hall before Sasha could think of anything to say. Anetra paused at the entrance to the hallway, looking back at Sasha. “I love you,” she said quietly.
“I love you too,” Sasha replied. Anetra gave her a tiny smile before disappearing into the bathroom. Sasha leaned back, groaning and rubbing her face. I love you just wasn’t enough. She needed to come up with a plan to cheer Anetra up, and fast.
Imagine: You’re getting bullied at school and your mom’s not happy about that, to say the least. (Yandere!Mom!Wanda Maximoff x Child!Reader)
Tumblr media
*Not my GIF.
(CW: Bullying, torture, sorta xenophobia, catatonia mentions)
Author’s Note: So it seems that the Yandere Mom Wanda fic’s getting popular, but since that potentially contains MoM spoilers, I’ve decided to make something that’s spoiler-free.
It’s lunchtime at your school.
You open your lunchbox to find the lunch your mom packed; a sandwich cut into the shape of a heart, grapes, carrot sticks, and two walnut cookies, a recipe your mom had gotten from a friend who used to live in Sokovia. On top of that is your mom’s daily note;
“Sweet (y/n)
Make the most of today and do your best.
I love you to the ends of the earth and back.
❤️ Mommy”
You smile; the notes are always your favorite part of her lunches. You unpack your lunch and start to eat. About ten minutes later....
“Hey, everyone! It’s Count/Countess Dorkula!”
You wince as you hear the voice of Kylie Harkness, your bully. She and her crew strut up to you and surround you from behind.
“Ooh, what’s this?” Kylie asks, snatching up your mom’s note.
“Hey! Give that back!” you exclaim.
Two of her friends pin your hands back as she reads it.
“Aww, how cute,” she spits. “You’re still mommy’s little baby. Did she also pack a binkie with your lunch?”
Her friends laugh at you as another takes your cookies.
“What the heck are these? They look weird.”
She takes one out and takes a bite before spitting them out.
“Eww! It’s probably some garbage from wherever you came from.”
“Hey! That’s not nice!” you snap, the Sokovian accent you’ve heard your mom use lacing your voice. “At least my mom cares enough to make me lunch.”
“That’s because I’m a big kid and pack my own lunch, while you can’t even go the whole day without crying. You’re a pathetic freak and you always will be, just like your mom.”
They laugh at you and your anger surges. Your head tilts as if on impulse and you feel your hands glow.
“You take that back, you heartless hag!” you snap at her in Sokovian.
You kick the girls holding you back in the legs and you slam a hex bolt to Kylie’s face. She goes flying into the wall, and you’re stunned at what you did.
“You can make fun of me all you like,” you tell her in English. “But I will not have you talking about my mom like tha--!”
You’re interrupted by one of the girls pushing you to the ground. Next thing you know, you feel a sticky sensation on you as she pours her lunch on you as does the other girl before they dump your own lunch on you. They cackle as the lunch bell rings.
“Like I said.” Kylie limps over to you as she rips up the note, and your heart, right in front of you. “Pathetic freak.”
They turn and walk away, leaving you on the cafeteria floor.
==================================
You hide in the school bathroom for the rest of the day, sniffling. They’ve been doing this every single day and you’ve never told your mom; she never seemed to figure out because the bullying hadn’t been physical until today and you just kept quiet about it. But this is the first time they insulted both your mom and the country she came from.
You go home on the bus, and walk from your stop to find your mom waiting for you. She gasps when she sees you.
“Sweetie! What happened? Are you okay?”
Your lips quiver and you start crying.
“Oh, honey.” She hugs you in spite of the mess, which you couldn’t fully get rid of.
“These girls have been bullying me at school...” you start.
You tell her everything that’s been happening. All the while, Wanda is steaming with anger, not at you, but at the girls who’ve been bullying you. How dare they treat her little angel like that! Who do they think they are?! This won’t do....this just won’t do....
You finish telling her.
“I’m scared to go back to school, mom. I don’t wanna have to face them. Can I stay here with you instead please?”
As tempted as she is to let you, she knows she can’t do that forever.
“Not forever, but how about you stay home tomorrow to take a mental health day? I’ll have a talk with the teachers.”
You nod and go wash yourself off. The whole time, Wanda is plotting. They dare to mess with you? No....that’s not gonna slide. She’s proud of you for standing up for yourself, but they still managed to take you down and abuse you....
And now, her mind is working at top speed....
=================================
That night after Wanda tucks you into bed and snuggles with you, and after you’ve fallen fast asleep, she sneaks out of bed to go take out the trash.
She manages to find each of the girls’ houses and sneak inside. First she deals with the parents, putting them in deep fear projections to the point of permanent catatonia. Then it’s onto the girls, placing them in the same states. The intensity is enough to make them lose all trace of who they were. But in her mind, they deserve it for messing with her sweet little angel. After that she covers up any trace of her ever being there before continuing until all of them have been....taken care of.
The next day, you spend your time with your mom, baking, watching sitcoms together, doing crafts, whatever your precious little heart desires. You fall asleep happily that night and this time, Wanda’s managed to locate the school staff. She sneaks in and erases their memories of the girls and their parents to further cover her tracks.
The following day, your mom packs a teddy bear for you in case the bullying gets worse and tells you that if it ever happens again, she’ll make sure the staff listen. When you get to school, you discover that Kylie and her friends aren’t there. You keep looking each day, but are surprised to find they’re not there anymore. When you talk to the teacher, she tells you no students by the names of your bullies go there or have ever gone there. You’re not sure what happened, but you’re not getting bullied, so you don’t complain. You wonder if some sort of mysterious force is watching over you now.
Well, there is, except it’s only mysterious to you. You can thank your mother for taking care of those bullies. She’s always happy to make sure you’re safe, going to great lengths to assure it, even if it means she needs to mess with a few minds.
Because no one messes with her little angel.
Ever.
Hi Joon I don’t know if you ever watched the video of jeongyeon making dog treats but in the video tzuyu comes in to steal some of the food and help out with the cooking. I think that could be really cute with cg!jeongyeon cooking and little!tzuyu being a kitchen helper by mostly taste testing <3
hiya anon! i have and it's so cute!!
cg!jeong would absolutely love having little!tzu in the kitchen. jeong would start cooking by herself while tzu's napping, chopping veggies and prepping some things.. tzu would wake up from the sound of her mama getting pots and pans out from the cupboard. she'd shuffle out in her jammies, rubbing her eyes with a little yawn.
"hi, love bug. do you want to help me make dinner?"
tzu would gives her mama a little nod and looks over her mama's shoulder to see what all she has laid out so far.
"do you think you can wash the carrots for me, tzu?" jeong hands the carrots to tzu who smiles and takes the carrots over to the sink. she turns it on and, taking her job very seriously, starts to wash them while her mama gets a few more ingredients out of the fridge.
with the carrots washed, tzu hands them back to her mama to chop. "i cut, mama?"
jeong gives her baby a kiss on the cheek and shakes her head as she continues chopping. "i'm sorry, baby, but i don't want you to hurt yourself. do you think you could put the pasta in the water very carefully?"
tzu thinks for a moment before she takes the box of spaghetti. she struggles with it a bit before she opens it. very slowly, she shakes the box, the spaghetti inching its way out into the pot of low boiling water.
jeong lets out a small chuckle as she watches tzu carefully pour the spaghetti into the pot. once the pasta's in the water, she dumps the carrots and rest of the vegetables in.
a carrot slice doesn't make it in and tzu notices so she takes it and pops it in her mouth while her mama isn't looking. she tries to chew it quietly so jeong doesn't notice, but carrots are pretty crunchy.
"is that a carrot you've got there, love bug?"
tzu shyly nods and looks at her mama. "sorry mama. jus' wan'ed to taste."
"it's okay. you can be my taste tester. do you want to try the sauce for me?"
tzu excitedly nods and opens her mouth as jeong scoops up a spoonful of the pasta sauce. she blows the steam off it a bit before she slides the spoon into tzu's mouth.
happily humming, tzu smacks her lips. she opens her mouth again, whining softly for more sauce.
"okay, love bug. you can have one more taste." jeong playfully shakes her head and scoops up another spoonful of the sauce.
"wan' more! wan' more!"
after three spoonfuls of sauce and a few extra carrot pieces, jeong picks tzu up and holds her in her arms, entertaining her while she finds more things for tzu to "test".
sunday six!
(monday six for me) (as always)
tagging @fire-tempers-steel @passthroughtime and @c-cw-f-saeko (sorry if you don't have anything to share lol)(but i must participate) & whoever else wants to do this (lately it's been really forcing me to write a lot)
lost judgement spoilers below:
another bit of a post-LJ au, where kuwana takes care of mitsuru while reiko is in prison. writing to make mitsuru's disabilities more accurate from canon and to mend my broken heart.... :cry:
The beep at nearly-eight is the rice cooker. Kuwana's bones creek, aging him as he pulls himself up from a squat. He paddles two servings of rice into his bowl and pairs it with natto, reheated soup, and a cold karage cup he bought from Seven. The vegetables steam a little longer before he puts a tiny serving in front Mitsuru and hurriedly finishes off the rest.
Mitsuru mashes a piece of carrot with his rubber-banded chopsticks. He ate picky like his mother, and scowled like her, too. Their shared nose and thin eyes crinkled harshly, disgusted by the steamed purée Mitsuru unaffectionally—and ironically—called baby food. It was swallowing practice and a nutritional trick, suggested in a letter from Reiko—a response to his medical documents:
...It's not very difficult to do. Steam them for thirty minutes. If you lose track of time and think you've cooked it for too long, add another ten minutes. I did that when he was little...It should be the consistency of chewed gum or silt...No soy sauce...He doesn't like broccoli. No broccoli. Potatoes are the best for gaining weight, cut them into sixths. Give him small portions or he won't eat it. Smaller than you think...If you can encourage him to practice swallowing, you can encourage him to eat more. He's malnourished now. You know that...Don't push him. I think he'd cry. It would be like trying to make an infant solve a jigsaw puzzle....
Don't push him.
No broccoli.
Thank you.
Kuwana picks a piece of broccoli off of Mitsuru's plate and eats it. It tastes like hot ice cubes. Mitsuru looks offended and unhungry, leaning back in his wheelchair with his shirt over his outie.
"Let's go to the beach later," Kuwana suggests, swallowing the rest of his breakfast whole. "After you finish."
Mitsuru nods while tapping the plastic tubing with his nail. He looks up—almost done. "Tastes like," he exhales slowly. "I wonder."
Chile Crisp Sesame Noodles Are the Easy Weeknight Dinner We Need
These noodles are easy to make and customize, and ready in less than half an hour. By Paige Grandjean
We love noodles that are faster — and tastier — than takeout, and happen to be delicious when warm, room temperature, or eaten straight out of the refrigerator. Feel free to customize your noodles by adding sliced cucumber, blanched and shelled edamame, steamed broccoli florets, shredded rotisserie chicken, steamed and peeled shrimp, soft boiled eggs, or fried cubed tofu.
What are lo mein noodles?
Lo mein noodles are wheat noodles made with egg, and have a slightly chewy texture. They are sold both fresh and precooked. Use fresh but not cooked noodles in this recipe. You can substitute spaghetti or fettuccine noodles for a similar flavor, but they won’t have the same texture. What is the difference between Chinese sesame paste and tahini? The two are not the same. Chinese sesame paste, or zhi ma jiang, is made by grinding deeply toasted sesame seeds into a paste, giving it a darker color and richer flavor. Tahini is made with ground untoasted or lightly toasted sesame seeds, and is lighter in color with a less pronounced flavor. You can use either in this recipe.
Notes from the Food & Wine Test Kitchen
If you can, select fatter carrots to use in this dish — they are easier to cut into planks. If you are using tahini instead of zhi ma jiang (Chinese toasted sesame paste), add a splash of toasted sesame oil to the dish to amplify the sesame flavor.
Make ahead
This is a great dish to make ahead. Store the noodles in an airtight container for up to five days, and if they clump together after chilling overnight, you can toss them with one to two teaspoons of toasted sesame oil or water to help loosen things up.
Ingredients
3 medium carrots 1/4 cup neutral cooking oil (such as grapeseed oil or peanut oil) 1/4 cup zhi ma jiang (Chinese toasted sesame paste) or tahini 1/4 cup soy sauce 3 tablespoons Chinese black vinegar or balsamic vinegar 1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger (from a 2-inch piece) 2 teaspoons grated garlic (from 4 medium garlic cloves) 2 teaspoons honey 5 tablespoons spicy chile crisp, divided 1 to 2 tablespoons water, if needed 1 pound fresh lo mein noodles or uncooked spaghetti or fettuccine 3 cups packed fresh baby spinach (about 3 1/2 ounces) 3 medium scallions, thinly sliced on an angle (about 1/2 cup) Toasted sesame seeds
Directions
Working with 1 carrot at a time, cut carrots crosswise into 2- to 3-inch pieces. Cut off a thin slice lengthwise from each carrot piece to create a flat edge. Lay the carrot flat on a cutting board. Cut lengthwise into thin (about 1/8-inch-thick) planks. Stack a few of the planks together, and slice them lengthwise into thin (about 1/8-inch-thick) strips. Step 2
Whisk together the cooking oil, sesame paste, soy sauce, vinegar, sesame oil, ginger, garlic, honey, and 3 tablespoons of the spicy chile crisp in a large bowl. The sauce should be thin and pourable; whisk in water, 1 tablespoon at a time, if needed to thin. Set aside.
Step3
Cook the noodles according to package directions, adding carrots and spinach during the final 30 seconds of cooking time. Drain well, and add to sauce in the bowl; toss to coat. (Dressed noodles can be served warm, chilled, or at room temperature.)
Step 4
To serve, drizzle noodle mixture with remaining 2 tablespoons chile crisp. Sprinkle with scallions, and garnish with sesame seeds.
Alright, I've been inspired by recipe-posting to make a recipe post for my favorite chicken noodle soup. A dear friend taught me to make it and it's so easy it's stupid. Most of the process is waiting and taste testing. It's very autism/sensory friendly because there are no chunks of anything (except maybe optional egg noodles) and you can season however you like so the broth ends up super flavorful. I make a massive stockpot full of it and freeze the leftover broth. Here goes:
Ingredients:
1 whole Rotisserie chicken
1/2 onion, cut into two quarter sections
1/2 bunch of celery, washed
1 bag baby carrots
4-5 garlic cloves, crushed
Seasonings of choice (I typically use rosemary, thyme, sage, paprika, salt, pepper, and keep extra garlic and onion powders on hand to adjust flavor. I like to buy those fresh herb packets from the produce section to start and add dried herbs as needed, but it's not necessary)
Egg noodles (optional)
Bouillon cubes and/or chicken broth
BIG OL' STOCK POT
Fine mesh strainer or colander and cheese cloth
A second, slightly smaller stock pot
Instructions:
Place whole Rotisserie chicken, garlic, and veggies in stock pot. Fill about 3/4 full with water. I recommend adding the water after the chicken and veggies so you don't have to estimate water displacement. No need to chop anything.
Add seasonings
Put on high heat until boiling and then turn down to a simmer and cover with a lid. If you really wanna trap all that steam and flavor in, you can wrap a dish towel around the bottom of the lid and tie it with a rubber band, then place it on the pot.
Simmer for as long as you feel comfortable doing, though I'd recommend at least 6hrs (I boil it for at least 24 if not 48, checking every couple hours) It's great to do this on a day when you can be home all day. If you let it cook long enough, the marrow cooks out of the bones and adds amazing flavor.
Taste test broth periodically and add seasonings and broth or bullion as needed. If it's not blowing your socks off after a few hours, add what you feel would give it the flavor you want and let it go another half hour. Repeat as needed
Once you have deemed the soup worthy, take it off the heat.
Place cheesecloth/colander combo or fine mesh strainer over the second stock pot. You may want to do this in the sink.
Use tongs or a slotted spoon to fish out the larger chunks of chicken and veggies so they don't clog the strainer. You can discard these as almost all the flavor should be boiled out of it and into the broth.
Pour the soup through the strainer into the second pot. Squeeze cheesecloth out to get all of the soup out if you used any.
Strain a second time if you see fit (if I do this I just rinse out the first pot to pour the soup back into)
Take out enough servings to feed all who are present and hungry and boil egg noodles directly in the broth until al dente
Enjoy!
Ribbon Sandwiches / Rainbow Sandwiches Prep: 1 hour hour 50 minutes minutes Cooling time: 1 hour hour 30 minutes minutes Cook: 50 minutes minutes Total Time: 4 hours hours 10 minutes minutes Servings: 40 mini sandwiches
Ingredients:
Spinach filling 570 g baby spinach or half spinach and half romaine lettuce 20 g parsley top stems and mostly leaves 2 green chili peppers or 1 serrano pepper ¼ tsp sea salt Generous pinch of pepper or to taste 150 g margarine or butter
Carrot filling 350 g baby carrots or whole carrots ¼ tsp turmeric Generous pinch of black pepper ¼ tsp sea salt ½ tsp ground coriander or cumin ¼ tsp honey or sugar (optional) 170 g margarine or butter
Beetroot filling 350 g beetroot ½ tsp crushed chili flakes adjust to your taste, I like to add 1 ½ tsp because I prefer it spicy ½ green chili or red chili pepper optional ¼ tsp sea salt Generous pinch of black pepper ½ tsp ground coriander or cumin ¼ tsp honey or sugar (optional) 170 g margarine or butter
Sandwiches 40 slices soft white sandwich bread see recipe notes
Instructions:
Spinach filling To steam the vegetables, you will need a large pot with a capacity to hold a steamer basket with the lid on. Pour about 1 – 2 inches of water to the bottom of the pot and bring it to a simmer, with the lid on. Add the baby spinach and let it steam for a few minutes until the spinach has just wilted and softened. 570 g baby spinach Remove the steamer basket from the pot and place the steamed spinach in a bowl, and let it cool completely. Once cooled, squeeze the spinach to remove as much water as possible. You can squeeze a little at a time in your hands OR place the spinach in a cheesecloth and squeeze the water out. The remaining spinach should weigh about 220 – 230 g. If you’re using lettuce, cut the lettuce into smaller pieces and steam it the same way as the spinach. Let it cool and then squeeze out the water in the same manner. Place the spinach and the spices in the ingredients list (except for the margarine) in a small food processor and process until you have a rough-looking paste. The weight of the paste will vary, but you want to have about 250 g of the green paste. 20 g parsley, 2 green chili peppers, ¼ tsp sea salt, Generous pinch of pepper In a large bowl, place the margarine and 250 g of the green vegetable paste and whisk together until you have a smooth green buttery spread. Taste and season with salt to taste. 150 g margarine Scrape this into a bowl and set aside until needed.
Carrot filling The baby carrots can be steamed as they are, but if you're using larger carrots, you can cut them into smaller pieces. 350 g baby carrots Steam the carrots in a steamer basket for 15 – 20 minutes, OR until the carrots are fork-tender (the fork should go through very easily). Top up the pot with water as needed while steaming. Remove the carrots from the basket and let them cool down on a paper towel or kitchen napkin. Do not cover the carrots, since you want as much of the water to evaporate as it cools down. You should have about 250 g of steamed carrots. Place the steamed and cooled carrots in a food processor, along with all the spices in the ingredients list (excluding the margarine). ¼ tsp turmeric, Generous pinch of black pepper, ¼ tsp sea salt, ½ tsp ground coriander or cumin, ¼ tsp honey Process until you have a rough-looking paste that still has small pieces of carrots in it (i.e. not a smooth, fine paste). The weight of this paste should be around 260 g (at least 250 g). In a large bowl, place the margarine and 250 g of the carrot paste and whisk together until you have a smooth orange and yellow buttery spread. Taste and season with salt to taste. 170 g margarine Scrape this into a bowl and set aside until needed.
Beetroot filling Slice off the tops of the beetroots and then steam them the same way as the carrots. 350 g beetroot Remove the beetroots from the steamer basket and let them cool down on a paper towel or kitchen napkin until cooled to room temperature. PLEASE NOTE that beetroots do stain, so use a napkin or towel that you do not mind being stained. Once cooled down, you can peel off the beetroot skin with your fingers as it should just come off easily. The steamed beetroot should weigh about 250 g as well. Place the steamed, cooled, and peeled beets in a food processor, along with all the spices in the ingredients list (excluding the margarine). ½ tsp crushed chili flakes, ½ green chili or red chili pepper, ¼ tsp sea salt, Generous pinch of black pepper, ½ tsp ground coriander or cumin, ¼ tsp honey Process until you have a rough-looking paste that still has small pieces of beetroot in it (i.e. not a smooth, fine paste). The weight of this paste should be around 260 g (or at least 250 g). In a large bowl, place the margarine and 250 g of the beet mixture and whisk together until you have a smooth deep pink / purple colored buttery spread. Taste and season with salt to taste. 170 g margarine Scrape this into a bowl and set aside until needed.
Making the ribbon sandwiches (rainbow sandwiches) Take four slices of bread and lay them out on your work surface. 40 slices soft white sandwich bread Spread a thin layer of the carrot butter filling on one slice. Spread a thin layer of the spinach butter filling on another slice. Finally, spread a thin layer of the beet butter filling on the third slice. Stack these three slices of bread on top of each other, along with the fourth slice on top. (You should have a sandwich that alternates with bread – filling – bread – filling – bread – filling – bread.) You can stack them in any order you like in terms of the fillings. The filling shouldn’t be too thick, just an even layer that is visible when the sandwich is cut (as you can see in the pictures in the post). With a sharp knife, slice off the crusts to make a square sandwich. Cut this sandwich into four smaller sandwiches. This can be either 4 square sandwiches, 4 triangles, OR you can cut the sandwich lengthwise to make 4 finger sandwiches. Repeat with all the slices of bread. 40 slices soft white sandwich bread The sandwiches can now be served right away. To store them for later (or leftovers), place the sandwiches in an air-tight container. Make sure the lid is not squishing the sandwiches. Store the sandwiches for up to 4 days in the fridge. If you used butter instead of margarine, the butter will first need to soften at room temperature before you can serve them.
Tips & Tricks
For the bread Choose a soft white bread – because that goes best with these fillings. However, you can use whole wheat if you prefer as well. Do not use thick slices such as toast sliced bread or Texas toast.
Cooking the vegetables To save time, steam the vegetables while the previous steamed veggies are cooling. You can steam the vegetables and make the vegetable paste the day before and make the butter spread the following day. The vegetable butters (margarine) can also be made the day before and the sandwiches can be made the following day.
Adding the margarine You can use butter instead, but butter hardens in the fridge. So the sandwiches cannot be eaten cold if you use butter. You can add more margarine if you like. I prefer the filling to have more vegetables than butter, but you can also use a mix with a 1:1 ratio of butter and vegetables if you like. This will then obviously make enough spread for more than 10 sandwiches.
Note about making the butter spread You do not need to precisely weigh out the vegetable paste. It can vary between 200 – 300 g. But you have to be mindful about how much butter / margarine you add to the vegetable spread because if you add too much, you will lose the flavor and color of the vegetables, and the spread may taste too buttery.
