I spend a lot of time thinking about the fact that Tarah pulls the phrase "chauvinistic jock with a superiority complex" out of seemingly nowhere.

It's not unheard of for a kid around her age to do so, but it's not something you normally hear from a kid with her sort of background. Just one of those many details left around for players to read into.

A little bit ago the SteamWorld youtube account released a video diving into the lore of the SW games, if you're interested.

Some points from the video:

how 'canon' the story of Quest is wasn't entirely answered, but there seems to be some implication of steambots overlaying human stories onto their own species to make a fantastical past

"Steambots base everything in their society on what humans did before. They can't really make stuff up by themselves, they base it on stories, so if they're making up an ancient past for steambots of course it's gonna be a fantasy fairy tale society based on like medieval times. ... They've made up their own history based on something that has happened."

mention of hints connecting to Quest in potential future games that might throw theories into a jumble, though they could just be fucking with us lol

Build takes place during some time in Dig 2 when the rockets are being built

diesel was definitely a human technology first, but it's not confirmed if humans were the ones to make the first diesel bots; however, a recurring theme in this interview seems to be that steambots don't create new things but borrow and recycle from the old, so it's possible humans did create them

the bots that escaped Earth in Dig 2 did help in building up the infrastructure leading into Heist; when asked if those bots were still alive in Heist, all they said was "to be continued", so maybe we'll get some more definite answers some day

Not as in depth as I would've liked, nor were many questions from fans taken, but hopefully they'll do something like this again in the future.

Nothing’s wrong here nope. Totally not the wrong card game or anything!

(If I had a nickel for every time I drew SteamWorld characters playing UNO, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice!)

This is unfortunately the last one I'm going to be doing for now as in addition to a looming feeling of art burnout, some important stuff suddenly came up. I put the deets (including what to expect from me in the near future) under the cut if you're interested.

I'm going to be participating in Febuwhump this year on a side AO3 account I created solely for an unrelated piece of media (iykyk but if you do want the deets feel free to dm me lol) and I'm gonna need the time

Which I will actually have because starting next week, I'm gonna be getting a nice long leave from uni for a bit

I also need to work on some very pressing IRL stuff that I've needed to work on for forever (cough learning how to drive cough) so this break is very much needed for various reasons LMAO
