ignoring the implications for romantic shipping, i do love that the big kicker for ray getting possessed is that he isn't willing to let nate die. nate is explicitly and repeatedly said to be someone ray loves with his big old bleeding heart, his bro, they're even paralleled with juliette and romeo in another episode. and, canon-wise, they're about as straight and platonic as legends characters can be. that's not saying much, but, y'know, still. they're besties, and they're men, and they would die for each other. they get to be emotional, kind, and care for each other in a very overt type way. even with all that, it's never anymore homoerotic than the girl bestieships of legends. they said "what's toxic masculinity? NOT cherishing my beautiful best bro just bcuz someone might think we're gay? couldn't be us." being mistaken for a gay couple would be flattering to them. they would be so excited if they knew about our steelatom fanworks. that's just how strong the power of friendship is

nate is 100% bisexual, however it will now never be confirmed (or denied 😈) in the show, which presents with a few scenarios, the funniest of which, im not sure of.

SCENARIO ONE:

Within the universe, Nate is out as bisexual. He knows it, the legends all know it, possibly his dad even knew it.

SCENARIO TWO:

Nate has never come out as he assumes the Legends all know, due to several hints throughout. Somehow (the somehow being that despite all be individually smart, collectively, they usually aren't smart individuals) the Legends have no idea and think of him as the Token Straight of the team.

SCENARIO THREE:

The team knows, the world knows, Dot Heywood knows. Nate has not realised yet. He assumes it is perfectly normal for two straight guys to love each other enough to go to hell and die for one another. He attributes Dion as simply a mancrush. The legends assume he knows and is out.
