Fandom: The Vampire Diaries
Summary: Stefan is dead set against dressing up for Halloween, but his girlfriend might just have found a way to outplay him.
Word Count: 1,262
Category: Fluff
Requested by @cncownerxstefansalvatorefanxstay for a fluffy Halloween with Stefan! This prompt kinda possessed me for a minute until it was done being written, so I figured what better day to double up on fic posting than Friday the 13th? Hope you like it!
Putting work into an AI program without permission is illegal. You do not have my permission. Do not do it.
"Okay! What do you think? Nadja and Laszlo or Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf? One is more fitting but the other is funnier."
I held up the costumes in question so Stefan, my boyfriend, could get a good look. He glanced up from his reading with a bewildered expression, his eyes scanning each of the costumes before landing on me with a frown.
"What is this for?" he asked. My mouth dropped open.
"For Halloween! Obviously! Come on, Stefan, we have to dress up."
"No. No, we don't," he said, a laughing smile tugging at the corner of his mouth as his eyes dropped back to his reading. I narrowed my eyes at him.
"Are you seriously telling me you're not going to dress up with me for Halloween?"
"I... think I am telling you that, yeah."
"But what about the trick-or-treaters who come to the door! We want to be the cool people with awesome costumes, don't we?"
"Mmm.... no."
I sighed dramatically, letting both costumes drop to my sides. I narrowed my eyes at my boyfriend, but he didn't flinch, not looking up from his reading.
"I'll support you if you decide to dress up," he finally said. "But I'm not putting on a costume."
"Fine. I guess I can't force you," I said, flopping my arms dramatically as I turned away from Stefan, a smirk on my face. This was not over by a longshot.
A few hours later, as the sun started to set and it was time to get ready for trick-or-treaters, Stefan wandered out of the bathroom with his shirt off. We were hosting a big Halloween party later, so we needed to be dressed and ready for both.
"You decided not to dress up?" asked Stefan, running a suspicious eye over my outfit. I just shrugged.
"It's not as much fun if you don't do it with me."
Stefan smirked a little as he moved back towards he bed. "The guilt trip's not gonna work on me."
"Not even if I ramp it up to an eleven?"
He snorted, not bothering to respond as he surveyed the outfit I'd laid out for him on the bed. Once he was apparently satisfied the shirt wouldn't secretly turn into a ruffled monstrosity befitting Laszlo Cravensworth, he pulled it on and buttoned it up, then slipped on the gray pea coat I'd left with it.
With my heavy, light brown jacket and headband, my plan was officially complete. I smiled and stepped closer to Stefan, fixing his collar before running my hands through his hair a few times, spiking it up even more. When I'd finished, I stepped back and gave him a beaming smile.
"You look great," I said. He smiled, then leaned in to kiss me. We lingered for a minute before he pulled back.
"You look great too."
We shared a smile, then I held out a hand, which Stefan took.
"Come on, we have trick-or-treaters to greet."
I pulled him after me as we headed downstairs. Damon, Elena, Caroline, and Bonnie were setting up for the party, but I'd volunteered Stefan and I to answer the door for anyone who came by.
We didn't have to wait long before the doorbell rang. I smiled and grabbed the bowl of candy, Stefan right behind me as we opened the door. A group of kids with their high school-aged chaperon stood at the door beaming, candy baskets in-hand.
"Trick or treat!" they chorused. I smiled.
"You guys have some great costumes! What do we have, a vampire, a Jedi, Spock..."
"What are you dressed as?" asked a little girl towards the front. I beamed, mentally thanking her for the opening I'd been waiting for.
Out of the corner of my eye, I could see Stefan, ready to tell her we hadn't dressed up. I spoke up before he got the chance.
"We're Bella and Edward from Twilight!"
I felt Stefan tense next to me as realization washed over him, which only made me smile wider as the kids beamed.
"That's a good costume!" said the girl in the front.
"You look just like him," the boy next to her agreed, nodding at Stefan.
"Thanks! Let's get you guys your candy, your outfits deserve some extra treats."
We smiled and waved as we gave the kids their candy, and I noticed Stefan slipped the vampire an extra bar or two. We waved as they headed off, and as soon as I shut the door, Stefan turned to me, hands on his hips and a stern look on his face.
"Bella and Edward? Seriously?"
"Yeah!" I replied, not even a little bit phased. "It's a low key costume, enough that you didn't even realize you were wearing it, but I still get to do a couples costume with my boyfriend. It's the best of both worlds."
Stefan sighed a deep, heavy, long-suffering sigh.
"I'm changing before the party."
"No!" I cried, reaching out to grab his arm. He hadn't made to move away yet, but I wanted to be ready if he did. "Please wear it for the party too. Please? For me?"
I batted my eyelashes and gave Stefan my best adorable guilt-trip look. He stared back, his expression not budging an inch, until finally he sighed again, throwing his head back and staring at the ceiling.
"Fine."
"Yes! Thank you." I pulled him to me, and grudgingly, he wrapped his arms around my waist as a small smile tugged its way onto his face. "You're the best boyfriend ever, Stef."
"I know."
He smiled again, then leaned down to kiss me. I leaned into him, and I think we would've stayed that way a lot longer if we hadn't been interrupted by another ring of the doorbell.
Reluctantly, Stefan and I pulled apart, sharing a smile.
"We should probably get that," I said. He hummed, not quite letting me go yet.
"I don't know if I can. You're like my own personal brand of heroin."
I laughed, which got a beaming smile out of Stefan even as I finally slipped out of his grasp.
"I can't believe you paid enough attention when we watched the movies to remember that but not enough to realize I was putting you in the same costume Edward wore!"
Stefan shrugged. "Maybe I just wanted to let you have this one."
I paused, narrowing my eyes at Stefan to try to decide if he really had put up with the costume for me, knowing the whole time what I'd been doing, or if he was just messing with me. Before I could decide, he reached past me to swing the door open and another group of kids greeted us with smiles on their faces.
"Trick or treat!"
"Wow, another vampire costume. There seem to be a lot of those this year," he said, smiling at the kid in question. "I think yours is the best I've seen, though."
The kid absolutely beamed at the compliment, and I moved up next to Stefan as we chatted with the trick-or-treaters and handed out the candy. One of the kids actually guessed our costume this time, and Stefan was the one to tell them they were right, we were Bella and Edward. With his arm around me as we talked with each and every kid who came to the door, I could tell Stefan was warming up to the couple's costume idea, whether or not he'd been aware of what he was getting into in the first place.
I just hoped that warm feeling would be enough to carry him through whatever inevitable bad jokes Damon made at his expense all night once the kids were gone and the party began.

hanahaki — damon salvatore x reader
Tumblr media
☄. *. ⋆
content warnings and genre: swearing, blood, death, diseases, unrequited love — angst
˚ ༘♡ ⋆。˚
synopsis: 花吐き病, a disease that only a one-sided fairy tale can cause, because when damon won't give you the flowers, you grow them yourself
✧.*
the air was infused with the scent of blooming flowers, a fragile beauty that masked the impending tragedy that lay hidden within. there was once a time where roses that grew in your garden held a special place in your heart, and nowhere else. you relished in the moments you spent kneeling down in order to catch a sweet whiff of the devastatingly beautiful scent. when winter came, when they began to wither, you couldn't help but feel sorrowful.
you stood at the periphery of the salvatore mansion, your gaze fixated on the enchanting sight before you. damon salvatore, the enigmatic vampire with eyes like liquid darkness, moved with a grace that seemed to defy time itself. he was entwined in a dance of whispered words and stolen glances with elena gilbert, the woman who held his heart captive.
your heart fluttered with an ache you had grown accustomed to, a yearning that seemed to grow stronger with every stolen glance you cast upon the two lovers. damon's laughter, rich and intoxicating, echoed through the air, and you couldn't help but drink in every note as if it were a rare elixir. his devotion to Eeena was palpable, a force that bound them together with an unbreakable thread of destiny.
“they look great together, don't they?” you turned to see stefan by your side, smiling because he knew how much their happiness meant to him. you so desperately forced a smile, ignoring the way your breathing grew heavy as your gaze softened. “yeah,” you murmured, voice a mere whisper. “yeah, they do.”
as the days turned into weeks, your affection for damon remained a silent symphony, playing softly in the chambers of your heart. you watched him from the shadows, your presence unnoticed amidst the bustling chaos. you reveled in the mere seconds he spared for you, fleeting interactions that left an indelible mark on your soul.
the town itself seemed to mirror your emotions, as flowers of all kinds bloomed in profusion. yet, within you, a seed of despair took root, its tendrils creeping through your heart like delicate vines. unbeknownst to you, this burgeoning ache was mirrored within your very breath, as each inhale carried a hidden poison that would soon become an integral part of your existence.
it was a cool evening, the stars above twinkling like diamonds against the inky sky, when you dared to venture closer to the epicenter of your yearning. a masquerade ball had enveloped the salvatore mansion in an air of mystique, drawing guests from all corners of mystic falls.
you watched from the shadows, your masked visage concealing the hope and pain that swirled within your eyes. damon and elena moved through the crowd, a picture of grace and desire. their dance was one of undeniable connection, leaving you feeling as if you were but a specter in their world.
as the night waned and the moon hung low, you found yourself on the outskirts of the mansion's sprawling garden. moonflowers, their petals luminescent in the silvery light, bloomed in abundance. wiih a sigh, you plucked a single bloom, its delicate fragrance filling the air around you.
“gorgeous, aren't they?” you met stefan's eyes once more, his gaze nearly pitiful. he was aware of how much you yearned for his brother—how much you craved to be loved the way he loved elena. you turned back to the bundle of flowers, eyes glowing with admiration. “i love them,” you admitted, all the while knowing you had a different confession in mind. him. you loved damon.
stefan's lips curved in a gentle smile, though there was a tinge of sadness hidden behind his eyes. “moonflowers,” he murmured, his voice carrying a soft, almost melancholic quality. “they're said to bloom only at night, under the moon's tender gaze. but their beauty comes with a price.” he extended a hand to touch one of the petals, his fingers brushing against the delicate surface with a reverence that spoke of deeper understanding. you followed his lead, letting your fingers graze the petals of the moonflower. the texture was velvety, cool against your touch, and you couldn't help but think that it mirrored the complexity of the emotions swirling within you. “what price?” you asked, your voice hushed as if afraid to break the fragile tranquility that surrounded you both.
stefan's gaze turned distant, as if he were peering into a past filled with memories too painful to bear. “legend has it that moonflowers take their beauty from those who admire them,” he explained, his words carrying a weight you could sense even before he continued. “they absorb the heartache, the unspoken longing, and the unrequited love of those who stand in their presence.”
the truth of his words settled over you like a shroud, chilling and numbing. you stared at the moonflowers with a mixture of awe and trepidation, as if they held the key to your very existence. “do they take away the pain?” you whispered, your gaze flickering up to meet stefan's.
hia expression held a mixture of sympathy and empathy. “no,” he said softly, his voice carrying the weight of his own experience. “they bear witness to it. they hold it, absorb it, until the pain becomes an intrinsic part of them. but they cannot erase it.”
a silence hung between you, heavy with unspoken truths. you turned your gaze back to the moonflowers, their luminescence seeming to shimmer with an otherworldly light. it was as if they understood the depth of your emotions, as if they were waiting to cradle your secrets and carry them into the night.
“you're not alone in this,” stefan said, his voice a gentle reassurance. “i know what you feel.” your heart clenched at his words, a mixture of gratitude and sorrow flooding your senses. in that moment, you understood that the pain you carried was not a solitary burden—it was shared by another who knew the taste of unrequited love all too well. you knew he loved elena more than damon ever could.
as the days turned into weeks, the symptoms of your hidden affliction began to manifest. A persistent cough, dry and unyielding, echoed through the quiet chambers of your room. each breath you took seemed to carry a weight, as if the air itself had turned into a tangible reminder of your unspoken desires.
days turned into nights, and the moonflowers in the garden continued to wilt, their petals falling like tears that went unnoticed by all but you. the nights grew colder, the air carrying a heaviness that matched the weight on your chest. your coughs became more frequent, each one a reminder that the poison of unrequited love had taken root within you. the moonflowers had all but withered, their once-beautiful petals scattered like confetti of heartache upon the ground.
in the final throes of your affliction, you sought solace in the warmth of your bathtub, the water soothing against your skin. moonflower petals floated upon the surface, their delicate fragrance a reminder of the pain you had carried, the love you had hidden, and the sacrifices you had made. the coughing had grown more frequent, each fit more violent than the last, leaving you weak and trembling.
blood stained the water, a macabre dance of crimson against the white porcelain. each cough was a harsh reminder of the poison that had taken hold, the unspoken emotions that had finally found their voice in the form of bloodied petals.
as you leaned against the edge of the bathtub, your breathing labored and your body weakened, you felt a strange sense of peace settle over you. the moonlight filtered through the window, casting an ethereal glow upon your skin. you closed your eyes, your consciousness drifting between the realms of pain and serenity.
in the quiet of that moment, you felt a gentle pressure against your hand—a touch so light, it could have been a figment of your imagination. but then it came again, more persistent, and you slowly turned your head to see stefan sitting by your side. his gaze was filled with a mixture of sorrow and acceptance, a silent acknowledgment of the journey you had shared.
“i'm here,” he murmured, his voice a soft reassurance.
you managed a weak smile, your fingers curling around his hand. It was cold, a reflection of the reality that was slowly dawning upon you. “stefan,” you whispered, the word a fragile breath that carried the weight of a thousand unspoken sentiments.
his eyes met yours, and in their depths, you saw the depth of his affection, the extent of his understanding. he was not just a witness to your pain; he was a bearer of it, a partner in the silent symphony of longing that had played out in the shadows.
as your vision began to blur and the world around you faded, you felt a strange sense of release. the pain that had plagued you for so long was no longer yours to bear. and as you closed your eyes for the last time, you felt a single tear slide down your cheek, mingling with the petals that still clung to your skin.
when consciousness finally left you, stefan held your cold hand, his touch a poignant reminder of the connection you had shared. he stayed by your side, his gaze fixed upon your face, as if willing you to find peace in the afterlife.
but just as the sun began to paint the sky with the first hues of dawn, a harsh cough erupted from stefan's lips. he doubled over, a hand pressed to his mouth, and as he coughed, delicate petals of moonflowers tumbled to the ground—a mirror of the pain he had absorbed, the love he had carried, and the sacrifice he had made for you.
the ache that had bloomed within his heart was the same ache you had carried for his brother, and now, it was the ache that bound him to you in death.

pairing: stefan salvatore x female reader
warnings: i guess light angst, mentions of past abuse, fluff, kisses
summary: stefan has a bad dream of the past when his father would abuse him, you comfort him and calm his crying
a/n: this is the first time i'm writing angst (i wouldn't even really call it that) because i hate angst and would choose fluff and/or smut over it anyday
song: take on the world - you me at six
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You were asleep and it was a quiet night.
Though you were suddenly awoken from the dream you were having when you felt something shaking next to you.
You sit up and rub your eyes before looking to your left. You see Stefan shaking slightly on the mattress with tears streaming down his face. You reach over and switch the lamp that was next to your bed on.
You quickly place your hands on his shoulder and shake him. He hasn't woken up yet so you call his name.
Finally, he bolts upwards and looks around him. You pull him into your arms and kiss his head.
"Y/n," he breathe out and he leans into your embrace.
"Shh, my love, I'm right here," you whisper as you run your fingers through his fluffy hair.
His breathing somewhat calms down and his tears slow. You take his face in your hands and pepper him in kisses, kissing the tears away as you do so.
"When you're ready to talk, I'm listening," you smile at him.
He lets out a cry that sounded like a whimper. "It was my father," he starts explaining in a small voice.
You play and braid his hair, as much as you can since his hair isn't long. He loves when you do that.
"The dream was like a flashback, to when Damon and I were kids. Our father would hit us. Part of the flashback I had was when my father got really mad, he took his burnt cigar and burnt Damon's hand with it. It was so bad, y/n," he cries.
"Shh, it's okay, darling. He's not here anymore," you say.
He sniffles and you take one of your hands to wipe his eyes.
"I know, I don't know how to stop the dreams though," he frowns.
"I'll figure something out," you promise, "I'm also so sorry for what the two of you went through when you were kids"
He smiles sadly and sits up.
"I'm going to get some water," he say, "go back to sleep"
"Are you sure? I would be more than happy to stay up with you," you tell him.
"I'm sure," you look at him unsure but he just nods with a smile and walks out to get his drink.
A few minutes later he walks back in to see the sleeping beautiful figure of his girlfriend. His lips pull into a gentle smile as he climbs into bed, wraps his arms around you, and pulls you into his chest. Your warmth gives him extra comfort as he falls back into a nightmare-less sleep.

I'll Always Help You
Pairing: Stefan x GN!Reader
Summary: In which you and Damon have been feeding on people in Mystic Falls. And everything has been going great until you accidentally kill someone, so you end up calling Stefan for help.
Warnings: Mentions of blood, mentions of death.
Tumblr media
You couldn't breathe as you stared at the body that lay on the ground in front of you. You weren't even sure how it happened. You'd only intended to do what Damon had taught you. Snatch, eat, erase.
Except you'd clearly gone too far as there was a person lying on the ground, their throat ripped open by your teeth.
As you stood there, your body trembling, you thought of Stefan. Only a few hours before this, you and Damon were sauntering out of the house to get 'lunch' and like always, Stefan didn't approve.
For years, he'd grilled you on how it was wrong to feed on people, trying relentlessly to get you adopt his way of living. But you never listened, you always chose Damon's way because it was 'fun'.
Now you were seriously regretting not listening to Stefan as your idea of fun had clearly gone too far.
You quickly pulled your phone out of your jacket pocket, the device slipping in your bloodied hands a little, and you dialled Stefan's number.
Despite Damon practically being your best friend, there was no point in calling him since he'd just brush it off like it was nothing. Unlike you, he had experience in killing people. Stefan was your only option.
You almost collapsed when you finally heard his voice down the phone. "Hello?"
"Stefan?"
"(y/n)? What's wrong? Are you okay?"
"I...I need your help...something...happened and I don't know what to do." You choked out, unable to keep your breathing steady as you desperately waited for him to say something.
"Where are you?"
You looked around and you managed to spot the Mystic Grill in the clearing across the street. "Uh...I'm in the woods...across from the Mystic Grill."
"Alright, I'll be there in a minute."
He hung up the phone and you immediately collapsed against a tree, unable to control your panic. You knew Stefan wouldn't be long but it felt like you were waiting ages for him to arrive.
When he finally appeared in front of you, his eyes instantly focused in on the dead body in the grass.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to." You cried, your chest becoming heavy as you looked over at Stefan. "I really didn't mean to...I...oh god...I...killed someone."
"No, it's okay alright?" Stefan said, his voice gentle as he stepped toward you, his hands coming up to rest on either side of your face.
"I didn't mean to." You repeated, desperately shaking your head at him.
"I know, I know. Just...go back to the house and I'll take care of the body, okay?"
You nodded, doing as he said and running back to the house.
When you got there, you immediately went over to Damon's room to get his bourbon. And you practically started chugging the bottle as you sat down in the living room, unable to wrench your thoughts away from what you'd just done.
They were dead. And you killed them. You'd never killed anyone before.
You forced the alcohol down your throat as the tears started to fall again.
But before you could completely break down, you heard someone come in the door. Looking up, you saw Stefan standing a few metres away, a pitiful look in his eyes.
Before you could say anything, he came over to you, carefully taking the bottle from your shaking hands.
"You can't let this break you." He finally said, kneeling down in front of you. "I know first hand what something like this can do to you, and it's not pretty, especially when you're a vampire."
"But...I killed someone."
"So have I...and so has Damon, and Elena, and Caroline." He listed off. "But we came back from it...well, maybe not Damon. But what you need to know is that you can come back from this, okay?"
"You dont hate me?"
He smiled at you then. "How could I hate you? You didn't mean to kill that person."
"But I would've never killed them if I just listened to you."
"Hey, you made a mistake." He assured you, his hand coming up to cup the side of your face. "And there's nothing we can do now but try to move past it."
"Will you help me?"
"Of course." He said softly, before pulling you into a hug. "I'll always help you."

Never Again - Stefan Salvatore
Tumblr media
Masterlist
Summary : You and Stefan have been sleeping together for the past couple months but you're still not official. You two want more but you're afraid the relationship will end up like the ones you already had.
Warnings : mention of sex but nothing explicit, angst, mention of past relationships who weren't healthy, mention of killing, maybe some grammatical mistakes as English is not my first language, tell me if you see any and if I missed any warnings !
Word count : 2,1k
French version on Wattpad
French version on Tumblr
Song inspiration : Fingers Crossed by Trevor Daniel & Julia Michaels
Making sure Stefan is still asleep, you leave the bed. You do everything in your power to not make any noise, cursing every single time the floor cracks a little. You take your clothes off the floor and get dressed quickly. You readjust your tee-shirt when you’re walking toward the door of the Salvatore’s manor. You’re about to touch the door knob when a voice startles you :
“You’re sneaking off again ?”
“I’m not sneaking off.” You retort to Damon. “And what do you even mean by ‘again’?”
“Please.” He starts, rolling his eyes. “It’s been two months since you’ve started to see my brother every night and every morning you’re leaving without saying goodbye. I thought it’d become serious at some point.”
“Well, it won’t. I need to go. The girls are waiting for me.”
“Say ‘hi’ to Elena for me.”
“Bye Damon.” You exclaim without even listening to his last sentence.
You get in your car and start driving to Caroline’s, trying to not show how your conversation with Damon is troubling you. Obviously, you knew Stefan and you weren’t discreet. You both are vampires older than one hundred years so you don’t sneak out like teenagers, but nobody knows you're spending almost every night together. You don’t have to tell anyone about this. You both know what you’re doing. At least, that’s what you hope.
When you arrive at your best friend’s, you notice you’re the last one. They’ve already started eating some snacks. They know you’re often late, so they don’t wait for you anymore. You’re not mad at them for doing so. You’d do the same. Quickly, you start participating in the conversation, eating the sweets on the table.
You spend all of your afternoon with Caroline, Bonnie and Elena talking about everything and anything, watching movies and doing other activities. You have known them for a year and a half now, but you got close to them easily. You got along pretty well.
As Caroline is talking about the last gossip in town, you go heating the pizza that you ordered at lunch time. So you leave the living room and go to the kitchen. You put the slices in the microwaves. When it’s done, you take back the plate. You don’t have time to put a foot outside the kitchen before Caroline is running toward you while Bonnie and Elena try to stop her. You’re frowning, not understanding what’s going on. When Caroline gives you your phone, you notice the new text from Stefan and you understand why she is acting like that.
“When were you going to tell us ?!” Caroline screams, outraged while you try to play it cool.
“It's nothing worth talking about.”
“I hope you’re joking ! ‘You spend the night at my place or I go to yours ?’” Caroline says, quoting Stefan’s text. And you call that ‘nothing’ ? When did you plan to tell us ?”
“Caroline, she deserves some privacy.” Bonnie reminds her.
“And you, when were you gonna tell us about Klaus ?” You ask Caroline and she opens her eyes big while Bonnie and Elena look at her, shocked. “Yes, he told me.”
“Don’t change the subject !”
“It’s not a big deal, Caroline.” Elena protests.
“You’re not being serious ? You’re telling me you don’t want to know more after seeing that text ?”
“I mean, only if Y/N wants to.” Bonnie answers her.
“Like I said, there’s nothing to say. Yes, we see each other sometimes at night. But it’s only from time to time. Nothing serious.”
“Wait, so it’s you ?” Elena asks me, as if she just got a revelation. “Damon told me a woman was always leaving Stefan’s room at every sunrise. I would have never guessed he was talking about you.”
“It’s not a big deal.”
“Wait a second again, you told us ‘sometimes’, Damon told me it’s almost every night ! During the week, there’s only a night where Stefan is really alone, according to him.”
“Really, that much ?” Caroline laughs, surprised.
“Sometimes, we just talk.” You answer to your friends. “Now, can you all stop talking about our private life ? There's nothing more to say about it !”
“I don’t get why you two haven't taken it to the next level yet.” Bonnie says and you sigh.
“Maybe we don’t want to. Honestly, I’m fine with how things are right now. I’m not sure I want a relationship once again. And he never said anything about us being serious.”
“Why not ?” Elena questions.
“Personally, I’ve never had any luck when it comes to love. My first boyfriend, or suitor like we used to say, I killed him because I lost control. The second tried to kill me when he discovered I was a vampire. For the third, we were in a toxic relationship. I tried love and it’s not for me.”
“You and Stefan, you’re meant to be.” Bonnie assures.
“I don’t know…”
“Oh, come on ! The looks you two give to each other don’t lie. You should be together !” Caroline exclaims.
“We’ll see. I don’t want him to feel like he has to do something and then it…” I start saying and Elena guesses the end of my sentence.
“Ruins everything ?”
“Yeah, kind of.”
“Talk about it. Who knows ? Maybe he wants to be with you, too.”
Not wanting to talk about it anymore, you change the subject, reminding them that the pizzas must be cold, again. You noticed that Caroline still wants to talk about it, but Bonnie sends her a death stare, stopping her from doing so. You mentally thank her for that. However, the rest of the day, you can’t help but think about their thoughts about the situation. It’s true, you’d like to make your relationship ‘official’ but if it’s unrequited, you wouldn’t know what to do. Furthermore, you’re scared that your next curse about your love life is you ruining everything. After your last love story, you’ve sworn to yourself you wouldn’t fall in love again, but Stefan and you had to kiss once then sleep together to change the promise you made to yourself.
At nightfall, you go to Stefan’s house. You don’t need to wait a lot for the situation to go from normal to heated. Once you’re done, you decide to change your routine, staying until he wakes up. That night, you don’t catch any sleep, thinking about the way you’re going to bring up the conversation. As the hours go by, you get more nervous. You try to think of every worst case scenario, hoping they won’t happen. You wouldn’t be able to handle it.
When the clock shows seven am, you feel Stefan moving a little next to you. He opens his eyes and frowns when he sees you laying next to him. You turn your head to him and smile kindly, trying to look relaxed.
“Are you really here ?”
“I hope you’ll be happy about it.” you say, laughing nervously.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean it like that. I’m not complaining but I expected to find your side of the bed empty, as always.
“I decided to change that. Hope you don’t mind, though.”
“Not at all, don’t worry.” He smiles.
“Stefan, I want to talk to you.”
“I’m listening.”
“Do you think that one day we could take it to the next level ? I mean, not that I don’t like what we have right now ! But we spent so many times together the past couple months and we never said if… if our relationship could be more.”
“I didn’t expect that question.” Stefan admits, sitting against the bed frame.
“Don’t feel like you have to do anything ! I just want to know where we are.”
“Yes, I understand. But I have to say, I don’t know. I like being with you, to say I don't like it would be a lie, but I don’t know if I’m ready to be in a new relationship. Katherine manipulated me, Elena fell in love with my brother. I’m not saying you would do the same, but I don’t want to live those kinds of situations ever again. I’m sorry if I gave you hope we could be together. Hope you understand.”
“I understand, don’t worry.” You say, trying to act like you don’t really care. “I’m… happy we clarified the situation… I have to go. I have something to do at my place.”
You see Stefan is about to say something but stops himself. You don’t pay anymore attention to him and take your clothes off the floor but this time, you don’t get dressed without making any sound. You do it quickly, wanting to leave as fast as you can. You knew there was a risk he’d push you away but deep down, you had hope it wouldn’t happen. Apparently, you don’t even need to be in a relationship anymore to feel that ache in your heart when you feel betrayed. After all, he doesn’t owe you anything, you know it but it still hurts. You bid your goodbye to him before leaving, almost running.
You isolated yourself the whole day. You only talked with Elena through text messages. After that, you almost didn’t take a look at your phone. You’d rather spend your day reading a book, leaving reality and your problems behind.
At seven pm, you look for new notifications and you’re surprised to see several missed calls from Stefan. You delete them, not wanting to talk to him right now. You know his reasons to push you away are valids. You understand his fears, you have the same ones, but you thought you’d talk a little bit more together. But thinking back to the discussion, you quickly ended it, you couldn’t handle ruining something again. You’re about to resume reading your book when you hear someone knocking on your door. Without any motivation, you go to open it. You open your eyes wide when you see Stefan in front of you. He seems nervous and… guilty ? He asks if he can come in and you let him. When you close the door, you both stay silent, looking at each other. You don’t go to another room. You’re too embarrassed to invite him to sit down on your couch, the conversation of this morning still playing in your head. You were really stupid to listen to your friends ! Now, there’s a tension between you two, something you didn’t want.
“I apologise for this morning.” he starts.
“You don’t have to, Stefan.”
“No, I owe you an apology. I want to take it to the next level. When I woke up and I saw you were still with me, I realised I wanted to be with you, just like you do. Elena told me you wanted more, even though you told me you just wanted to know.”
“Don’t pity me, please.” You beg him, feeling even more humiliated.
“It’s not the case. I love being with you. I love the moments we spend together, especially during the night where we just talked and got to know each other. I’ve never felt that big of a connection with anybody else before. But…”
“You don’t want to have your heart broken again.” You say, guessing the end of his sentence. “I get it. I have the same fear. We could say, we’ve never really had any luck in love.”
“Yeah.” He laughs softly. “But I want to try it. I pushed you away out of fear, but the moment I did it, I cursed myself. Deep down, I was waiting for that moment without knowing I was.”
“Your fears talked for you, it’s legit. It was the same for me when we talked about it with the girls and I talked about it.” You reassure him. “But with you, I want to overcome my fears. You’re the first person with whom I want to do it. I don’t want to miss a relationship that could be beautiful because my old scars are not completely healed.”
“Me neither. I trust you enough to set my fears aside. I really want us to be together.”
This last sentence makes you feel so much joy. Without thinking, you kiss him. Compared to the kisses you had two already shared, this one is full of love and tenderness. Stefan brings you closer by putting his hands on your hips. After a few seconds, you break the kiss, but your foreheads are still touching.
“You won’t sneak out in the morning anymore ?” Stefan asks you, a smile on his face that you share.
“Never again.”

my masterlist ↪M A S T E R L I S T
prompt ↪"listen,  i’ve lost a lot of people in my life, given i killed them, but,  i learned how to deal with it...you’re different.  i can’t take it if it’s you."
warnings / other notes ↪ organs named / like in a killing way
I wasn't exactly a friend of Kai, he had protected me often and I don't know why. He hated Elena and I was Elena's friend, I had assumed that instead of protecting me he'd kill me... or try to.
I'd be caught in the crossfire and instead of killing my friends he'd always save me, I just couldn't think of a reason why. I was like my friends, a vampire although I was maybe a couple of years older than them it didn't make me any different.
Damon had always protected me, given I was one of his oldest friends but Kai, he was a whole new level. No one could touch me and if they could he would put them through an eternity of pain and suffering in just five minutes.
"Damon" I mumble looking around the house "Where is Kai?" I ask "he had some psycho killing spree booked for the next ten minutes." Damon mumbles, he had been sitting around waiting for Elena to get back from College.
Sitting down next to him "Well, I guess that makes us both lonely" folding my arms "you ever wonder why Kai protects you all the time, it's kinda of creepy." Damon says turning his head to face me.
"I mean yeah sometimes but like it's Kai he always does stuff without reason, he also merged with Luke gaining emotions so it could be that." I shrug, I hadn't thought of it much, I just accepted that he'd protect me until the day he dies.
"it's just weird, this psychotic guy only cares about one person in the world and kills everyone else..." Damon says "thats cheap" Elena says swinging the door open and Damon runs over to her picking her up and spinning her around before kissing her.
"what's cheap" Kai says walking through the door "why did you two come together?" Damon says putting Elena down before looking between the both of them "Well, Kai suggested that he'd come pick me up so he could come kill Stefan." Elena said "haha funny, seriously Elena why is he here?" Damon says.
"don't be so rude Damon." I cross my arms standing up, Kai turns to face me and waves "Hi Kai" I smile "Why are you here though? What happened to the killing spree." I ask him and he rolls his eyes "I didn't have the heart to kill Josie or Liv, this stupid merge with Luke has ruined every." he mumbles.
"Then I saw Elena and assumed that she needed a ride home, so I stole a car and here we are." He says swinging his arms in the air "fantabulous" I smile.
"I'm going for a walk" I say walking off "So you don't want to hang out?" Kai asks "not really." smiling at him I walk past him, Elena and Damon.
He jogs up behind me "you're not worried of who could kill you?" he asks in a slightly concerned tone "why would i when i have the gemini coven leader" I mock him "haha funny" he mumbles.
"I'm serious, your timing is impeccably scary." I look at him as we walk down the long driveway "the only thing im worried of is how a 53 year old can still walk around without back pain." I say jokingly and he chuckles.
"i've never heard you laugh" I say looking at his side profile and he continues to walk "well I only laugh when I find my siblings and rip out their livers, spleens." he shrugs.
"you never fail to make my stomach turn, and not in the good way." I say as we reach the end of the driveway. Mystic Falls wasn't my home, I lived here sure but there were many other places I had lived in my 328 years of living.
"Well, well, well Mystic Falls" he dusts his hands off, a lady walks by and with the raise of his hand, her leg snaps aswell as her neck "oops" he says covering his mouth because he was laughing.
Turning towards the town centre people walk by, only few of them living at the hand of 'the great leader', "why haven't you killed me, you could easily do it." I mumble, Damon's words repeating in my mind.
"Because it's funny watching you drown in self-pity" he laughs as we walk into a store and he grabs roasted almonds "although i don't doubt that, what's the real reason?" I ask him, following him around the store as he walks out with a pack of almonds and chips.
"because i don't feel like killing the only person who enjoys my company" he rolls his eyes as we walk towards Mystic Falls Highschool walking into the gym "now why are we here?" I had so many questions.
"The person I'm suppose to kill is suppose to be here, in a few minutes" he smiles ripping the bag of chips open, stuffing his face.
I sit opposite to him and he places the bag of chips dow rubbing his hands together "a penny for your thoughts, sunshine." he says with a grin "you're lying, why don't you kill me. If it was my last wish to be killed by you, I know you won't do it because I enjoy your company, why wont you do it?" I lean towards him.
He stares me dead in the eye before sighing "and how did my walk turn into ur stakeout" I mumble. He sighs before sitting back, the grin on his face disappearing "now isn't the time, I think Luke wants to come out." he clears his throat "that's no excuse" I say, my index finger raising at him.
Looking down at his ring, he begins to play with it anxiously. This behaviour certainly wasn't the confident, cocky Kai I've known for a few years, then he looked down.
"listen,  i’ve lost a lot of people in my life, given i killed them, but,  i learned how to deal with it...you’re different.  i can’t take it if it’s you." he mutters under his breath, and I almost couldn't hear it until he looked back up at me.
Someone bursts through the door and without a word he stands up clenching his fist and a head came off, of course this didn't surprise me. The Kai Parker I knew would have gone for a more painful less quick method, I suppose he was flustered and wanted to do something to make it less awkward. "you're different" I say as he spins around, the blood splatter was on his face as he licked his lips. "how am I different? you're the one being different." he says waving his arms at me.
"why can't you take it if it's me, I could take it if it was you." I shrug "ouch thanks" he says walking off "no that's not a passage to leave" I grab his hand and he recoils at my touch.
"fine, ever since this stupid merge, I've been feeling things, things I don't want to, I resent it. I was fine with any of Luke's qualities besides the fact that he felt things, now look at me." he says waving his arms up and down my body.
"I'm a sociopath, with feelings, and I can't even think of killing someone who I barely know yet I could think about killing my sisters, all the time." he says before walking off.
"what does it mean? what are you feeling." I ask him and he continues to walk "Malachai?" I say and he stops "you're 53 years old, you still hate your siblings eve if your the coven leader yet you can't kill a measly vampire when you killed your whole coven..." I say in disbelief. "I don't believe some feelings would prevent you from killing me..." I continue and he spins around slowly "well it's true, you don't need to believe me. I don't want to feel this way, I'm sure it will go away." he looks down "how long?" I ask him "what?" I ask.
"how long have you realised you couldn't kill me." my lips dry as he eyes me up and down "i'd always thought about killing you, maybe in a less brutal way... before the merge. Now, I don't even like seeing you in danger, in fact, I hate it more than anything in the world. I just don't know why." he says.
"do you want to kill me." I state, even though it wasn't a statement at all it was more of a question, "of course I don't" he says. "you're so different, and I didn't even notice."

love for the ages
Pairing: Elijah Mikaelson x reader
Summary: you’ve loved elijah for a thousand years, and you’ll love him for a thousand more

✰  ✰  ✰
You’d known the Mikaelsons for a very long time. For almost your entire life you were one of them. Growing up with the Mikaelsons was something you look back on from time to time.
Being kids running through the trails, hiding out from the wolves in your village, and dueling with Niklaus and Elijah almost everyday just to put them in their place was your definition of a good life. Your family was nothing like the Mikaelson family. They were always so close knit, and they welcomed you with open arms.
You loved them dearly, but you loved one of them different from the rest.
Elijah Mikaelson was your love.
You had completely fallen for this Mikaelson brother, and you had fallen quite hard.
“(Y/N)!” Elijah called out, two swords in hand. You lightly smiled at him as he smirked and tossed you one of the blades.
“You challenge me to a duel?” You played. “You ought to be careful who you challenge around here Lijah,” you teased, “one day I won’t be so kind as to hold back.”
“Oh is that so?” He chuckled with an amused smile. He playfully wielded his sword and motioned you towards him. “Don’t hold back, m’lady.”
You giggled as you whipped the sword around, swinging it in circles as you’ve been practicing. Elijah watched with a proud smile on his face as you got into a fighting stance.
“You are not ready for what’s about to come Lijah,” you teased.
Before you could even begin a duel, Niklaus’ cry echoed through the village.
You and Elijah dropped your swords and ran out to where Niklaus was walking. The rest of the Mikaelson family came in tow from their shack.
You gasped as you took notice of what Niklaus carried in his hands. Their youngest brother Henrik dead in Niklaus’ arms.
Rebekah sobbed as she saw her smallest brother lifeless.
From that moment on, a lot had changed for the Mikaelson family.
After their mother Ester had turned them into vampires, she couldn’t bare the thought of losing you, the girl she called her other daughter.
After the Mikaelson family had all of their splits, and falling outs, and daggerings, you were still there, but you were there for one Mikaelson sibling more than the rest.
Elijah was absolutely, positively infatuated with you.
The more time you spent together, as time went on and the hours turned to days, the days to weeks, the weeks, to years, and the years to centuries with you, he couldn’t see you in any other light. You were the one for him.
It was late in the 1400s when Elijah finally expressed to you how he felt. You, him, and Niklaus were living together in Italy, and he had finally gotten the courage to explain just how much you meant to him.
A party was going around. Niklaus had thrown it in hopes of drawing out the doppelganger to break his timely curse.
As you danced with the strangers around you, Elijah watched from the wall.
“My, my, brother,” Niklaus tsked, “I’d thought that by now you’d have expressed your love for (Y/N).” He smirked as he watched his brother roll his eyes. “Or at least got the courage to pursue her.”
Elijah scoffed, “it is not as simple as you may think, brother. (Y/N) is the best kind of woman. She’s kind and delicate. Even after all we’ve been through, she manages to see the light in every situation.”
Elijah scanned his eyes over the room, a crowd of people surrounded you, all wanting to join in on the fun dance you are having. “She lights up every room, and people just want to be around her. She will meet a million people in this eternal lifetime, and I don’t want to get caught up with my feelings and end up losing her to one of them.”
“Oh, for fuck’s sake, Lijah, why do you always have to be so negative?” Klaus scoffed. “Get over there and ask her to dance. I know for certain she will be swooning over you so hard she’ll forget how to even move her feet.”
Elijah chuckled at this, and took a few more minutes to watch you dance, thinking long and hard if he really wanted to do this. He decided he didn’t want to sit around and wait for some other man to sweep you off his feet. He wanted to be the one to do so.
In a flash, Elijah was off the wall and in the middle of the dance floor, right where you resided.
When you saw him beside you, your eyes lit up and a smile graced your face.
“My, my,” you teased, “I’d never thought I’d see the day where the Elijah Mikaelson joined me on the dance floor.”
Elijah chuckled and lightly rubbed the back of his neck. “It would have happened eventually, darling. We’ve got an eternity of life to live together.”
His eyes slightly widened as he heard what he said. “Not that I mean our lives together together like romantically, more that we’re both immortal and we happen to spend all of our time together. Us and Niklaus of course, but mainly us.”
Elijah was a stammering mess at this point, but that only made your heart rate pick up. You thought it was adorable when he got nervous around you. You liked that you were the only thing in this world that made him nervous.
“I know what you’re saying Lijah.” You smiled as you placed a hand on his shoulder. “Although, would it really be such a terrible thing?”
Elijah cocked his head in confusion. “Would... you mean would being together romantically be a bad thing?”
You nodded your head as you shyly waited for his response. You didn’t want to wait any longer. It had been centuries since you first started loving Elijah, and you didn’t want to sit behind these bottled up feelings any longer.
Elijah’s heart was racing. He was trying to find the words to say how he felt without joyfully screaming in your face.
He couldn’t contain his emotions, and a grin broke out onto his face. “(Y/N), I fear if I back out now I’ll never have another opportunity to tell you this.”
You stared into his eyes, your heart racing, pulsing out of your chest as you hang on to every word he says.
Elijah opened his mouth to say something, but nothing came out. He blubbed like a fish before he shook his head and chuckled a little which made you giggle.
“I’m sorry, you just still make me nervous after all these years.” He confessed.
“I make you nervous?”
Elijah wet his lips as he stared down at yours. “Your beauty makes me nervous. Your confidence and your kindness pull me in. You intelligence and strength keeps me going. You are everything to me, (Y/N).”
Elijah never broke eye contact. As he poured his heart out to you, you could see in his eyes that he meant every last word of what he said.
“I love you, (Y/N).” He breathed out. “I’ve always loved you.”
That was just the beginning.
Since that day in the late 1400s, Elijah has always had you by his side.
Present day, almost a thousand years since you’ve first fallen for him, you still knew that he was the man you wanted to spend your eternity with. Elijah was just as loving and sweet as he was the day he confessed his love for you.
Once he had you, all he did was worship the ground you walked on. He wanted to be your best friend, your partner in crime, your lover, and your rock all in one.
And he was.
Elijah was everything you could have ever asked for, and you couldn’t wait to spend the rest of your eternity with the man your heart belonged to.

Me waiting excitedly for my favorite author to post the fic I requested
(But also patiently because I respect that fic writing takes time and that authors have lives outside of Tumblr)
(Seriously though I love and respect every fic author on tumblr, and I hope you’re all having a wonderful day)

Cheater on the bridge
Pairing: Klaus Mikaelson x Elena's sister! reader, Stefan Salvatore x Elena's sister! reader Summary: You've been sneaking around with Klaus for several months now, cheating on your boyfriend, Stefan. You feel terrible about it, but you're afraid to break up with Stefan because you don't know how he'll react to it. However, Elena finds out about your little affair. And everything goes to hell. Warning(s): the reader betrays Stefan, death, blood, turning into a vampire, curses, Klaus Mikaelson, etc. Word count: 5,2k
Tumblr media
You knew you were doing very wrong and awful thing. You had a sweet, loving boyfriend, Stefan Salvatore, who would do anything to see you happy. You had great friends and family, good grades in school—you were living your teenage dream.
But then you met Klaus Mikaelson.
And you wanted more.
As soon as your eyes met, you felt that shiver of excitement run down your entire body. He too, without knowing why, became interested in you. Y/N Gilbert. The doppelgänger's sister, the girlfriend of Stefan Salvatore, whom the Mystic Gang wanted to protect at all costs from all this supernatural shit.
But then, when Stefan walked over to you and, placing his hand on your waist, led you out of the Mystic Grill under Klaus' watchful eye, you knew your life would never again be the peaceful routine you were used to.
And you were excited about it.
When Elena would have given anything for a normal, peaceful life like yours, you had an overwhelming urge to go on a dangerous adventure. Create amazing, exciting memories. And Klaus noticed it. He noticed how you were suffocating in this structured relationship and in the perfect life of an ordinary man. And he was going to take advantage of it.
In your defense, you resisted him. Really.
You sent back all the ridiculously expensive gifts like dresses, jewelry, a car, and your own horse when he found out you were taking extra riding lessons after school.
So Klaus changed tactics. He started sending you pencil portraits he'd drawn, leaving little notes with compliments and poems he'd written (the guy was amazing at praising your beauty). And you, being forever that girl locked up in the fantasy world of books and appreciating a good old Jane Austen or Brontë sisters book romance, fell into his trap.
So after he courted you, saying so many beautiful words and leaving thousands of small gifts, you gave in to him.
The tension between you must have snapped one day. And it was exactly on your 18th birthday that both your boyfriend and friends forgot about this important day for you. But Klaus remembered. And he took you to fucking Norway so you could see the Northern Lights for yourself. Let's just say the day ended so well for both of you that you made use of Klaus' long-lost villa and stayed there all weekend.
Klaus turned out to be more than willing to keep you in his arms for longer.
It was supposed to be just a one-night stand. One thing he would point out to a vamp getting on his nerves the next time he got a chance. But one night turned into two, three, four, and honestly? Klaus has already lost count of the number of times one of you ended up in the other's bed.
There was something about you that delighted Klaus and drew him to you whenever you were in each other's presence. The worst part was that neither of you could resist this strange force that drew you to each other. Of course, only for you. You didn't want to break your cute boyfriend's heart, but you couldn't resist those gorgeous blue eyes, alluring lips, and talented hands of a powerful, terrifying hybrid that somehow wanted only you in his bed and by his side. Klaus, on the other hand, didn't care about anything other than making sure you were somehow in his presence every day. Whether it was just a few minutes of conversation, lunch, dinner and breakfast, or quick, hot, stolen moments in your bedroom.
The guilt grew inside you every time you were close to Stefan. You swore to yourself that you would sever whatever ties tie you to the hybrid, but every time you saw Klaus, whatever rational decision you made just got lost in your mind.
You were too busy with Klaus' overwhelming feeling on your body to care about anything else in the world.
Over time, your trysts turned into something more. You talked to each other and enjoyed the mere presence of the other without having to do any "adult stuff".
You were starting to feel more than lust for him. And it terrified you. But you were too deeply into Klaus Mikaelson to just walk away from him. To let go forever that feeling of excitement every time you sneaked up on each other and the overwhelming feeling that only a hybrid could make you feel. Klaus has destroyed you for any other man. And you both knew it. Just like the fact that you had control over him too.
And now, lying with him in his bed, snuggling after very long hours of activities, you realized one thing: You fell for the devil, who was sleeping peacefully while holding you close to him.
You shifted slightly in his arms so that you could cup his cheek with your hand. That damn handsome face was the cause of all your moral battles going on within you. Because how could you fall in love with a man who sacrificed your sister in a ritual and nearly killed your aunt Jenna? How could you love someone who threatened to kill your loved ones? And most of all... how, despite his many sins, were you able to still see in him the shadow of humanity that he carefully hid from the world?
"I can almost feel your cerebral convolutions burn out." he muttered, snapping you out of his thoughts. He opened one eye, staring at you searchingly. "What are you thinking about?"
"About you. I feel like I've only been thinking about you lately."
"Is that wrong?" he asked, propping his head up with one hand and playing with your hair with the other.
"I don't know yet." you whispered, staring at him. You could spend the rest of your life like this. Lying next to this captivating 1,000-year-old vampire. The question is, did he share your feelings?
"So let me reassure you and say that you, too, appear in my head more often than I could possibly allow, love. Thinking about those beautiful lips or enchanting eyes has nearly ruined my plans more than once."
"Always so good with words."
"And in many other things, my little human." he murmured, leaning in to cup your lips in a tender, slow kiss.
That's how things were with Klaus: slow, tempting, irritating, until the flame between you, fueled by those little banters, started to grow to the point where you both burned each other. And it was a feeling you never wanted to deprive yourself of. It doesn't matter how unethical and unfair it was to the people close to you.
The ringing of your phone snapped you out of this haze of pleasure. You somehow pushed Klaus away from you and reached for your phone on the nightstand. Elena. You groaned. The last thing you wanted was to talk to your sister.
"Be quiet for a minute, please." you asked the hybrid before you answered the phone. "Elena? What's going on?"
"Where are you?"
"House."
"I'm home and you're nowhere to be found. Where are you?!"
"God, take it easy! You didn't let me finish. I'm at a friend's house." Klaus raised an inquiring eyebrow, smiling and barely holding back a laugh. You punched him lightly in the chest, making him chuckle louder.
"Is it a male laugh? Who are you with? What friend is this?"
"This is Bob! You know Bob from my English class. We were writing an essay together. I told you about him, didn't I?"
"Just go back home. We need to talk." you hung up, staring furiously at the man below you.
"I asked you!" you screamed, hitting the hybrid with your pillow as he burst out laughing at you.
"I'm sorry, love. But you're a terrible liar."
"Well, I'm good enough for Elena to believe me. You should be glad. You won't have a group of angry vampires storming your house." you said, throwing the pillow back into place and laying down next to Klaus again. You could have stolen a few more moments with him before returning to that circus known as your home.
"Love, you know very well that they wouldn't have the slightest chance against me." he bragged, giving you a flick on your nose which made you giggle.
"Yes, yes. You are a stunningly handsome, powerful hybrid that everyone trembles before in fear."
"I know it perfectly well, but you don't know how wonderful it is to hear it from your lips." he murmured, pulling you to him by your chin for another kiss.
"Nik. I have to go home, you've heard by yourself."
"Stay a little longer." he murmured as he kissed the way along your neck and shoulder. "I'll find you an excuse."
"You kidnapped me last week. They won't fall for it for the 5th time."
"That's what you said the last time. And guess what..." he murmured, biting into the sensitive spot under your ear.
Before you got lost in each other again, you pushed him away, straddling him. He didn't care at all, continuing to kiss every inch of your exposed skin.
"I'll come to you in the morning before you're even up. Maybe I'll even skip my class."
"I hold you to your word." he murmured, sucking on a hickey just below your collarbone. You groaned, grabbing his blonde curls. "Now run away. If you're late tomorrow, I'll come get you myself, love."
"I hold you to your word, the mighty hybrid."
~•♤♤♤•~
"Elena, I'm home!" you shouted as you stepped over the threshold. You set your bag down by the entrance, looking around the house for any sign of your sister. "It would be nice if you would answer since you've already brought me here."
You went to the kitchen and poured yourself a glass of juice. Out of the corner of your eye, you saw a note stuck to the fridge.
I went away with Damon for the weekend, Jeremy is staying with a friend tonight. Don't do any parties. Elena.
A whole house to yourself for the night? That could only mean one thing. You took your phone out of your pocket, smiling to yourself.
"Klaus? What are you doing tonight?"
~•♤♤♤•~
"No! Don't even tell me that you did it!" you laughed with the hybrid as he told you about one of his feuds with famous people.
You really wanted to see him throw an apple at Einstein.
"You know me, love. I'm not famous for my angelic patience."
"You are not famous for anything angelic at all."
"We're very brave today, aren't we? You know that teasing the original hybrid is not a good idea." he murmured, cupping my cheek with his hand and caressing my lips with his thumb. "First, you ran away from me sooner than I wanted, and then you told me to come here as fast as I could."
'Aren't you happy to be here?" you asked, putting your hands on his shoulders and playing with his hair.
"I am…" he pulled you to his chest, wrapping his arms around your waist. "But I'm not yet your boyfriend, who you could boss around."
"Yet?" you asked teasingly, raising an eyebrow.
"Yhm... yet." he murmured, catching your lips in a greedy kiss.
You moaned at the familiar, wonderful feeling of his soft lips on yours. You grabbed his necklace and dragged him into the living room with you.
With your wonderful grace, instead of sitting with him on the couch, you tripped over the coffee table. You groaned in pain, breaking the kiss and grabbing your sore leg. You would have fallen if not for your lover's strong arms.
"Fuck." you groaned, knowing full well that soon you'd have a new bruise to add to your collection.
"My clumsy little human. Come here, let me look at your terrible wound." he knelt down in front of you with a smirk, rolling up your trouser leg with unusual delicacy for him.
"Hey! This little human is capable of bringing the most powerful vampire on earth to his knees before her. Don't you dare underestimate me."
"Never, love." he murmured, before putting his lips to the spot you hit, making you shiver as soon as his plump lips made contact with your skin.
"I can kiss it better, but we both know that my blood is more effective."
"No! Only humans ways." you screamed in a panic. Klaus' wounded face quickly made you feel remorse for your sudden outburst. It wasn't his fault that you didn't want anything to do with the supernatural, and you certainly didn't want to take the risk of having vampire blood in your system. Typically, such a person ended up dead, waiting for his transformation. Even though your lover and boyfriend were vampires, eternity wasn't for you. "But it would be great if you took me to my bedroom."
"I don't think you're so hurt that you can't move on your own, love." he said with an amused smirk.
"That's because you've been invulnerable for a thousand years. You don't even know what a life-threatening condition I'm in right now. The only cure is my comfortable bed and your warm arms around me."
"Well, then I have to make sure my favorite human survives." he took you in his arms, laughing at how quickly you wrapped your hands around him.
With the skill of stealth practiced over months, he went straight to your room. Even knowing that no one but you is at home. It's just that both of you are used to hiding from the eyes of your friends and his family by now.
From the scowl on Klaus' face as soon as you entered the room, you could tell he looked again at the photo (of you and Stefan kissing) on your nightstand that he hated.
"You should burn it." he grunted, setting you down on the bed and standing tense in front of you, obviously not going to join you.
"It's a picture of me and my boyfriend. If he suddenly disappears, Elena and gang might get suspicious."
"Next time Kol and I fight them in here, I'll make sure it lands in the fireplace."
"Mr. Mikaelson... are you jealous?" you asked with a mischievous smirk, pulling him to you so that he was straddling you.
"No." he murmured as he kissed you and knocked the photo frame onto the carpet with one hand. "We both know who you really belong to. And one day, when you pluck up the courage to drop our ripper... I'd be happy to tell him what I've been doing with his sweet, tempting, resourceful girlfriend." he bit your neck, making you moan as he grabbed his shoulders. "And believe me, love, I'll tell him about all the beautiful sounds you made for me."
"Nik..." you moaned, grabbed his hair, and pulled him into another desperate kiss.
Too lost in each other's touch, lips, and scent, you didn't notice that someone had entered the house until your room door opened.
"Y/N you can't even imagine what Damon did. Y/N?!" your sister screamed as soon as she saw you making out with her worst enemy. "What are you doing?! And with him?! You're dating Stefan!"
"You want me to leave you two alone?" he asked, not bothering with the angry brunette. He watched you with obvious concern in his blue eyes as you tried to control your horror at the romance being wasted.
And by whom! Months of careful hiding, only to be discovered by Elena.
"Yes! Get out of here, Klaus!" your sister screamed, trying to push him out of the room, to which the hybrid didn't react at all. He just stared at you, waiting patiently for your response.
"It's okay. You can go. I'll call you later." you assured him with a gentle smile. Klaus stared at you unconvinced for a moment, but finally nodded and left, not forgetting to kiss you on the forehead and shoot Elena a murderous glare.
You sighed as the hybrid left the room. You knew you could feel completely safe with him when you were alone. But with the equally furious (and impetuous) Elena in the same room? Hell would break loose. And you doubted your sister would be lucky enough to survive this time.
"What the hell was that?! Do you have any idea what you're even doing?! YOU'RE CHEATING ON STEFAN! And with who?! The original who nearly killed me and Jenna!"
"Are you finished? Close the door behind you, you're making a draft."
"Is that what you meant? Were you trying to make me mad by making out with him in our house? You could at least spare Stefan the embarrassment and break up with him before you fucked Klaus like a whore."
"Really? Are you trying to make this about yourself? God, you're more fucked up than me, Elena. At least I don't put myself at the center of the damn universe."
"You're cheating on Stefan, you really don't see that as a problem Y/N?!"
"Well, you and Caroline have been drooling over him ever since he got here. He'll probably find comfort in either of you pretty quickly. I doubt he's particularly grieving for me." you tried your best to lie to Elena, but the truth was, you were afraid of Stefan's reaction.
Lately, Salvatore has been flooding you with various date propositions, texts, and phone calls. At one point, Klaus threw your phone out the window because you couldn't focus on him. He got a huge, angry lecture from you, and from then on, he allowed you a short text to dismiss your boyfriend while you were with a hybrid. But you knew you couldn't hide the truth any longer. It hadn't been fair to him from the very beginning of this secret, forbidden affair with Klaus.
"You know what. I'm sick of you, Y/N. Get out of here."
"What?"
"Get out of here. Maybe Klaus will take you in. Honestly? I don't care. You don't deserve an ounce of attention. Not after what you've done."
You gave her an incredulous look. You shook your head in amusement, laughing as you passed a very serious and pissed off brunette.
You didn't want to make your sister (and yourself) any more angry. So without saying a word, you just took your car keys, wallet, and phone and left the house.
You dialed Klaus' number in the car. You patiently waited for him to pick up as you drove out of downtown Mystic Falls and headed towards his mansion. You were hoping he'd put you up for the night until you found a way out of this sick situation.
You knew that your cheating on Stefan with Klaus was a huge blow to the younger Salvatore, something he didn't deserve at all, but Elena overreacted by kicking you out of the house. It was just between you and Stefan (and maybe also Nik). Your sister had no right to make such a drama linking your falling in love with Klaus to wanting to throw her off balance. It wasn't your fault that most of the hot guys wanted to kill her.
"Hello, love. Is everything okay? You looked quite terrified when I left. Are you sure that you don't want me to come to you? I can always get in by a window..."
"No. Actually, I'm on my way to your house. Will you have any free beds for me?"
"We both know that my bed is the most comfortable and sufficient for the two of us, love."
You were about to say something funny to his taunt, but suddenly something jumped out in front of your car. You screamed, trying to swerve and avoid the thing, but you ran straight into a tree. After that, there was only darkness.
~•♤♤♤•~
The first thing you felt when he regained consciousness was blood slowly trickling down the side of your head. You groaned, pressing your hand to the bleeding wound.
Surprisingly, the first thing that popped into your mind after the accident was not to check your health. You were worried that Klaus panicked upon hearing you hit a tree over the phone, probably smashing your car. You could only think about Klaus... at least before you noticed you were still in the car.
"Finally you woke up. I was afraid you crashed into that tree so hard that you died before I planned it." your head shot towards the driver's seat, where your boyfriend's voice was coming from. You groaned as you made a sudden move.
"Stefan?" you asked in surprise as your eyes widened. Wait... dead? He wants my death? You looked around in panic, realizing that the vampire had tied you to the chair.
"Did you forget about me? I heard from Elena that you found yourself a new boyfriend. Klaus, really? I didn't expect you to stoop so low."
"Well, I couldn't go any lower after dating you anyway." you said, coughing up blood.
"I gave you some of my blood so our fun wouldn't end too soon. I also invited Klaus. He'll be sitting in the front row, watching you slowly die, suffocating underwater." the speedometer showed 180 km/h. And Stefan was just accelerating. Your heart beat faster in panic as you tried to find a way out of this situation. Preferable one that doesn't include your drowning.
He must have switched off his humanity the moment Elena gave him the fucking good news. That's why you were afraid to tell Stefan about it. You didn't want his "dark side" to go outside to play. And now you were paying a fair price for your many lies. You were just fucking hoping that Elena would feel a hell of a lot of guilt when you died.
"Stefan. Listen. I know I cheated on you and did the worst possible thing to you by hiding in corners with Klaus and still giving you hope. I should have broken up with you the moment things started happening between me and Klaus, but I didn't. And no apologies from me can make up for that, and you have every right to be mad at me, angry, crazy. But if you kill me now, you'll never forgive yourself. You know I'm not going to become a vampire; I'm going to die the moment this car goes down in the water. Are you ready to have one more innocent soul on your conscience, ripper?" you asked in a broken voice, fearing for your life. It wasn't supposed to end like this.
"That's the thing, Y/N. I don't care anymore."
Out of the corner of your eye, you saw us drive onto that famous bridge, where he saved your and your sister's lives. How ironic that your life was to end in exactly the same place and by the same man who had saved it there earlier.
You closed your eyes, preparing yourself to fall, when suddenly Stefan stopped the car. You opened your eyes, sighing in relief.
Nik.
Klaus came to save you.
"This is probably the moment you should run away while you still have your head on your shoulders!"
Stefan pulled you out of the car by your hair, his hand on your back dangerously close to your heart. He stopped a few steps in front of Klaus, who looked surprisingly calm for him. At least for someone who doesn't know him. You could see fear and anxiety in his eyes, the way he gently clenched his jaw, and the stance he assumed.
"I think this time I'm the one with the advantage." you groaned in pain as he dug his hand into your side. You felt blood start to trickle from your new wound, staining your already bloody and torn shirt. The hybrid wanted to move, but suddenly ran into some invisible barrier. Bonnie must have cast a spell on him. Klaus growled a warning as Stefan's fangs were dangerously close to your neck. "One wrong move, and I'll do my ripper trick on your new toy, Klaus."
"Let her go. It's me you hate. You want revenge on me, not on her."
"You both deserve to be punished. Whatever I do with her, I'll get revenge on you in the process. You care so much about her, Klaus? A weak man who wants to live a gray, boring life? You'd get bored with her eventually. Actually, I'm giving you a beautiful gift. With her death, she will become a vampire. All you'll have to do to transform her is to pour blood down her throat. And believe me, Y/N, your lovely Klaus will rather make you end the transition than let you die."
You couldn't cry. You promised yourself that your fast heartbeat and trembling would be the only signs of fear that Stefan would notice.
"If you don't let her go now, I'll kill everyone and everything…" you didn't hear the rest as your neck was broken like a twig under Stefan's hands. And your body fell to the ground with Klaus' loud scream.
~•♤♤♤•~
Coming back to life after death should be a dramatic, suspenseful, and overall poignant moment. In your case, it was like waking up after a very long nap (probably after some big party, judging from your headache).
"Y/N!" Klaus' worried gasp reached your ears the moment you moved slightly.
You groaned as the light from the bedside lamp in his room illuminated you. Klaus' bedroom. He had to move you here after Stefan broke your neck. Salavtore broke your neck. You must be in a transition process.
"Nik?"
"I'm here, love. I'm not going anywhere. You're safe. My siblings are chasing the Salvatores and their gang all over town. I'll make sure none of them ever hurt you again." he murmured, kissing your forehead and pulling you closer to him. "I swear to you, you'll never have to be afraid of anyone again."
"Niklaus." somehow you managed to break free from the clingy hybrid's arms and sit on his bed. You clutched your head as the world around you began to spin. Klaus' warm hand cupped yours, anchoring you. After a while, everything stopped. It was just you, breathing heavily with a very worried 1000-year-old vampire by your side. "I can't stay with you. I... I can't be a vampire." you whispered as tears began to fill your eyes and all the stress from tonight began to turn into a terrifying panic.
"Love..." his pained look only intensified your despair and tears.
"No. Nik I-I can't live forever. I can't feed on the blood of innocent people... I... I don't want to die." you clung to him, crying into his chest like a little child.
You felt one of his hands wrap around your waist, placing you on his lap, and the other soothingly combing your hair.
"Shhh.. you don't have to be afraid, love. I'll be there for you, whatever you decide—even if these are your last hours. I'm not going to leave you alone. I don't want to convince you of anything, but if you decide that forever doesn't seem like such a bad idea, just know that I'll make sure you're not going through this on your own. I will help you control hunger, deal with overwhelming emotions. I can even steal blood from hospitals, hunt squirrels, or give you my own." you burst out laughing, imagining him running around the woods looking for squirrels. Klaus smiled at your laugh. He wiped the tears from your cheek with his thumb, looking at your tear-stained, snotty, and reddened face with great tenderness. "Being a vampire doesn't have to be so terrible. You have the whole world in front of you. And with me by your side? I'll make sure that you enjoy every second of your eternity. Only if you want it."
"What if I turn out to be a ripper like Stefan? Or my character will change completely, and you won't want me anymore? What if my darkness dominates and destroys my humanity?"
"I'll always love you, Y/N. Nothing can change that. If you end transition, I'll keep an eye on you. I won't let any of the things you're worried about happen. You have my word. You're everything that matters to me." you decided not to bring up the fact that he had just confessed his true feelings to you for now and instead buried your head between his neck and shoulder.
"Don't say that line. I only associate it with Elijah." you whispered with a smile, inhaling his scent, which brought you calm and safety.
"I could have predicted you'd focus solely on that sentence." he snorted indignantly, placing a kiss on your temple.
You sat there in silence for a while, hugging each other and soaking up each other's warmth. Klaus was drawing patterns on the exposed skin of your arm. Only now did you notice that he had changed you into his clothes. A strange feeling flooded your chest, warming your already flushed cheeks.
A persistent thought in the back of your mind snapped you out of this sweet moment between you two. You could have it forever. His arms around you. His lips on yours. His whispers in your ear. It could all be yours for eternity.
And maybe you didn't want to be a vampire. Maybe you wanted to live a normal life before, with your family, children, husband, boring job, and terrible boss. But now that Klaus has offered his eternal protection and affection?
You were too covetous to let him go. Too greedy for his affection and devotion to follow your beliefs. And so you have (willingly) gone against yourself since the beginning of this relationship. So what bad could happen this time? At least you'd be still alive.
"Okay." his intent gaze moved from your skin to your eyes, raising an eyebrow questioningly. "You've stuck with me. I'm gonna feed."
"Are you sure, Y/N?" he turned you around in his arms so that he could look at your face, searching for even an ounce of hesitation and uncertainty.
"Yes. After all, someone has to make sure you don't kill them all before they get what they're due. You are not famous for your patience."
"We will punish them. Together." he said, handing you the already prepared bag of blood from his nightstand. 0 Rh-. His favourite. You felt the hunger overwhelm you.
"Together." you agreed, taking the sack and groaning while sucking on all its contents. Klaus interrupted you from time to time, wanting you to slow down.
As you pulled away, Klaus took the empty bag from your hands, throwing it behind him. He gently stroked your cheek with his thumb, watching with fascination the changes slowly taking place in you. He couldn't wait to introduce you to his world.
"For always and forever." he murmured as he slid the daylight ring on your finger. You smiled as you saw the initials of your name and his surname carved into the lapis lazuli stone.
The son of a bitch must have been prepared for this a long time ago.
"For awlays and forever." you promised, sealing your fate by placing a fervent kiss on his lips.
From then on, you were a proud member of the Mikaelson family. And honestly? You haven't regretted your decision for even one second.
Certainly not when you both took your revenge. Or when Klaus proposed to you the right way. Or when you got married. Not for a brief moment of your eternity together.

"We're closed- oh, hey Stef."
"Hey, Y/N." My friend and boyfriend of about the last month gave me a small smile as he walked through the door of my bar. We were closed for the night, so I'd briefly been bracing myself to throw out somebody who didn't realize or want to accept that fact, but Stefan came to spend time with me as I closed things down pretty regularly.
We'd met in this same bar just over a month ago. Stefan had just arrived in town, and after moving into his house on the edge of town, he'd wandered into the bar to start introducing himself to everyone. I'd served him a drink while we chatted, and we'd actually hit it off the bat fairly quickly, which I hadn't been expecting to do with a vampire.
He hadn't officially told me he was a vampire yet, of course. But I was an out-of-practice witch. And just because I'd left my coven and come here for a different life, didn't mean I couldn't still clock a vampire from a hundred yards out.
Stefan and I had been on a few dates since we'd first met, and I kept hoping he'd trust me enough to confess his secret to me himself. Every time I thought he might be working up to it, however, he talked about something else instead. For whatever reason, he seemed hell-bent on pretending to be human while he lived in this place.
I couldn't exactly blame him, since I'd been doing the same thing since I'd left my coven at 18. Still, I at least wanted him to trust me enough to let me in the loop.
"How was work today?" asked Stefan, pulling up a barstool and watching me as I wiped down the counter. I shot him a smile.
"It was fine. Nothing too crazy, no rowdy patrons or strange and mysterious newcomers." He huffed a laugh at that, and I grinned before continuing. "Overall, I'd say it was an average day. How about you? How's the garage?"
"It's good," he said. Within a few days of arriving, he'd gotten a job at our local mechanic shop fixing up cars. I knew for a fact he was being underpaid, but he didn't really seem to care. "I got to work on an old Thunderbird today, which almost made the oil stains on every piece of clothing I wore today, somehow including my underwear, worth it."
I laughed at that, and Stefan gave me a pleased smile. I finished wiping down the counter and tossed the rag, then walked around the counter to take the barstool beside Stefan. The only thing left for me to do was put up the chairs, turn off the lights, and lock the doors, but Stefan and I had made a routine of hanging out here a bit longer than we necessarily needed to as a mini, casual date.
"Well, I'm glad you had a good day," I said. "And that you changed your clothes before coming to see me."
Stefan smirked and hummed, then reached forward to pull my barstool even closer to him. He leaned forward, resting one arm against the bar counter and around me as he got in my space.
"What's the matter? You don't want the smell of motor oil on all of your clothes?"
"I know it may sound strange, but no. No, I absolutely do not."
Stefan smiled, his eyes intent on my lips as he moved forward and trailed the hand not resting on the bar counter up my thigh. I leaned in a bit too, feeling the pull towards the man I'd fallen for so quickly. We'd kissed before, but this moment felt much more heated and like it might be leading somewhere new.
Just before our lips met, I forced myself to pause. Stefan paused too, respecting my hesitation, even as he raised an eyebrow in silent question. I wanted to take the next step with him, but... I couldn't bring myself to do it when such a massive secret still sat between us. One I was partially aware of, but that he thought I was completely ignorant to, and one that he hadn't even begun to suspect.
"Stef... I really, really like you," I started.
"I feel the same way, Y/N."
"That's good. And I've enjoyed the past month with you so, so much. I want to keep growing with you and spending time with you and experiencing life with you."
"I'm waiting for the 'but'."
I sighed. There wasn't a hint of judgment in Stefan's voice, but I needed to just spit it out.
"Bu... before we go any further, I think you should tell me why a vampire is hiding out in a small town, pretending to be a car mechanic."
Whatever Stefan had expected me to say, it wasn't that. He leaned back a bit, his eyes wide in shock, and I jumped in with an answer to what I knew would be his first question.
"I'm a witch, Stef," I said. "I don't practice much anymore, but I clocked you for what you are the minute you set foot in my bar."
Stefan huffed a breath of disbelief, blinking a few times before leaning all the way back to sit up straight on the stool. I think he was surprised, more than upset, but the charged, heated air of a moment before had definitely dissipated. He ran a hand through his hair, then cleared his throat.
"Well...As I'm sure you know then, we all have our reasons," he said, completely ducking the question. He stared around the room, doing anything but making eye contact with me.
"Yeah, we do," I said. I was not having the vague answering around questions nonsense. "I was more asking about your specific reasons though, not just the general reasons supernaturals run off to small towns."
Stefan huffed a humorless laugh, then finally looked at me. "You wanna start by telling me your reasons for coming here?"
"Sure." It clearly wasn't the answer he was expecting, but I wanted to be something special with Stefan. If I expected him to be vulnerable, I was perfectly prepared to be vulnerable with him, too. "I grew up in a terrible, abusive family, and so as soon as I could I got the hell out of the house and disappeared to somewhere they'd never care enough to come look for me. I stopped practicing magic altogether because for me, magic is still tied to all those bad memories. So many other witches talk about the freeing, powerful, and peaceful feeling of using their magic, but it hasn't been that way for me since I was a kid. I still grow vervain and some other magic herbs in my garden at home, but that's about it."
Stefan stared at me, clearly surprised by my complete honesty. I'd had a good few years now to process things and get to a place of being more comfortable with where I'd come from and where I was now, although it was never the easiest thing to talk about. But I cared about Stefan, and I trusted him. Whether or not he ended up deciding to share the details of his backstory with me, I wanted him to know mine.
"So..." I started, breaking the silence after a few beats of Stefan not talking. "You wanna share your stuff now? It's okay if you don't, but... I'd really like to be someone you can trust, you know? No big secrets if we're going down the path of a more serious relationship, and all that."
Stefan took a deep breath in and out, looking away from me as he thought. He seemed to make up his mind as he nodded, still staring a hole in the back wall of the bar, and spoke.
"My brother died," he finally said. My heart broke in my chest for him, but I stayed quiet, giving him space to finish. "My brother and a good friend both. We tried to save them, but... as I'm sure you know, sometimes the supernatural bullshit is a little too much to overcome. After that, I just... I needed to get the hell out of our hometown. It was too small, with way too many bad memories. So I did what I've had to do plenty of times in my long, long life. I left, and found a new place to start over fresh. And for the record, I'm not pretending to be a car mechanic. I am a car mechanic."
I huffed a small laugh, giving Stefan a warm smile and the most comforting look I could when he finally turned back to me. I reached across the bar to take his hand and gave it a gentle squeeze, which he returned.
"I'm sure this goes without saying, but... I am so, so sorry you had to go through that," I said. "And thank you for sharing your story with me. I know it's not easy to talk about shit you want to leave behind, so... I'm glad we can talk about it, together."
"I'm glad we can talk about it too," he said, giving me a tight smile and squeezing my hand again. I smiled, a little less tinged with sadness this time, and Stefan did too. We held each other's gaze for a moment, letting the loving looks say what words really couldn't, and then I cleared my throat and straightened.
"So... I know I literally just closed this place, and I usually say no when you suggest this, but after getting into our mutual tragic backstories, it feels like a good time for an exception." I stood from the stool and headed around to the back of the bar again, snagging two glasses as I went. "What do you say we drink our favorite drinks, toast to our new-ish lives together in this town where we can comfortably pretend to be humans, and play pool until we're exhausted or the owner of the bar notices the lights and tells us to go home?"
Stefan grinned and stood from his barstool. "Pour me a double of the best bourbon here. I'll rack, and then you'd better prepare to lose."
I scoffed. "Bring it on, Salvatore. I've been in this bar working and practicing my pool game for the past two and a half years. You've got nothing on me."
"Before tonight, I wouldn't have had a very good comeback for that," he said, grabbing the rack and setting it on the felt of the table. "But, you apparently know I'm a vampire, so I can tell you I've been playing pool just about since it was invented. You don't stand a chance."
I grinned as I grabbed our drinks and set them on a table close to the pool table, then pulled down my favorite cue stick from the wall.
"I guess we'll just have to see then, won't we?" I asked. "Age vs. skill, the battle for all time."
Stefan groaned and rolled his eyes, straightening from where he'd almost finished racking the balls to give me a tired, exasperated look.
"That's the first of about a thousand old jokes I'm going to hear from you now, isn't it?" he asked. I grinned, the expression taking on a bit of a maniacal glint.
"Oh, at least."
"Then I guess I'd really better win this game so I have something to use as a comeback, huh?"
"I mean yeah, unless you want to get jokes about your age and about how bad you are at pool."
Stefan sighed dramatically and threw his head back, which made me laugh. He finished racking the table, grabbed a pool cue, and shook out his shoulders like he was preparing for a fight.
"I'll break," he said. I nodded as he stepped up to the table, lined up the cue ball, and hit it with a move so fast I literally almost didn't see it. The cue ball went flying, breaking apart the triangle cluster of balls and knocking two striped balls into pockets around the table.
I gasped, but Stefan acted like he hadn't done anything particularly impressive.
"I guess I'm stripes then, huh?" I stared, mouth open, as Stefan walked around the table to stand next to me. "Your move."
I closed my eyes and swore, and I heard Stefan chuckle next to me. I'd definitely have my work cut out for me if I wanted to beat him, much more than I'd originally expected. One way or another though, I wasn't too concerned. As I stepped up to the table to take my shot, Stefan hovering over me to try to mess up my concentration, I knew we'd have plenty more games just like this ahead of us. Despite the horrible circumstances that had brought us together, we'd found each other, and now we were going to live happy, peaceful lives, together.
Nothing but countless games of pool, terrible age jokes, oily clothing, and everything in between waited on our horizon.

lose to love II — stefan salvatore x reader

synopsis: synopsis: all he's ever wanted was a child, and all you've ever wanted was to give him one
✧.*
in the aftermath of the heart-wrenching loss that had shattered both your world and stefan salvatore's, the air around the salvatore boarding house hung heavy with an unbearable silence. the vibrant life that once filled its walls now seemed replaced with an oppressive emptiness that left everyone grappling for words.
stefan, his eyes cast down, became a master of isolation, retreating to the depths of his pain. the vibrant spark that used to animate his every move had dulled, leaving behind a void that even his brother struggled to breach. the relentless pain held him captive, a prisoner in his own grief-stricken heart.
meanwhile, you fought your own battle. your face, a masterpiece of concealment, wore a mask of strength that belied the torrent of emotions within. each shopping trip, each new addition to your wardrobe, was a stitch in the elaborate façade you wove - a tapestry of normalcy hiding the jagged edges of your sorrow.
one day, as the sun cast a warm golden glow on the streets of mystic falls, stefan's voice, raspy yet tender, pierced the veil of your apparent normalcy. “i love you,” he whispered, the words drifting through the air like fragile petals.
but it wasn't stefan who appeared by your side in the wake of his heartfelt confession. instead, it was damon, his gaze a curious mix of concern and amusement as he noted your shopping bags. “you really think retail therapy is gonna fix this?” he quipped, a glint of understanding in his eyes.
you scoffed, slinging your brand new bag that contained a fresh pair of heels you had just purchased, over your shoulder. “leave me alone, damon. it's called coping.” he scoffed, leaning into the reclining chair on your front porch as he eyed you. “i've heard of crying and alcoholism, but shopping the pain away? are you joking?”
“mind your own business, damon,” you shot back, your tone curt as you turned to face him. his lips curved into a half-smile, undeterred by your dismissive response. “oh, i intend to mind my business,” he said, a glimmer of seriousness entering his eyes. “but i also happen to love my brother and sister-in-law. i'm doing what stefan asked me to do—i'm watching over you.”
your eyebrows knitted together, caught off guard by his unexpected sincerity. "this isn't something you can fix, i don't need to be watched over.."
damon's gaze held yours, his tone softening. “i'm not trying to fix anything. just offering a reminder that you don't have to bear this burden alone. stefan loves you, you know.”
you clenched your jaw, a mixture of frustration and sadness welling up within you. “stefan has his own way of dealing with things, just like i do.”
damon's expression remained unwavering. "and isolating yourselves isn't helping either of you. sometimes the pain becomes less unbearable when shared."
your resolve wavered, the walls you'd built cracking slightly under the weight of damon's persistence. “this is our struggle, not yours.”
days turned into weeks, and your life settled into a surreal rhythm. yet, as the sun set and the moon took its place, you found yourself increasingly aware of a persistent presence - damon, watching from the shadows, a sentinel of emotions too complex to put into words.
and then came that fateful day, a crisp breeze carrying a note of change. as you exited the store, your thoughts consumed by the contents of yet another bag, you turned to damon with a determined glint in your eye.
“here,” you said, offering him a folded check, a token of your desperate attempt to buy space for your own grief. “take the money and stop following me, stefan won't know about a thing.”
damon's lips curled into a wry smile as he accepted the check, eyebrows shooting up in surprise. "that's a big load of cash," he mused, his gaze unwavering as he led you to his car. you nodded as your grip tightened around the bag. "i don't exactly have a bank account set up, you mind if we go and cash this?" you nodded, relief flooding you as you obliged, happy to get rid of him once and for all. “no problem.”
the two of you entered his car, with you right next to him. damon folded the check and slid it into his pocket, just before he locked the car doors. you tensed up, a fearful look on your face. “i gotta admit something, (y/n),” he began, his cold tone sending nothing but fear down your spine as he began driving. “stefan didn't really send me to protect you.”
you had missed the bank by a long shot. damon had pulled up into the local park, unfortunately surrounded by the sound of silence and lack of people. “would you look at that, nobody else here. got it all to ourselves,” he murmured as he unlocked the doors. “let me get something from the trunk, go find us a good spot.” your eyes fell on the shovel in the depths of his trunk.
you didn't waste a second getting out—you ran, ran like your life depended on it. your heart pounded in your chest, your anxiety escalating as the gravity of the situation began to sink in. you didn't waste a second; you seized the opportunity and practically threw yourself out of the car, your instincts screaming at you to escape. you ran, your footsteps echoing through the desolate park as if each one carried the weight of your fear. your breath came in ragged gasps, and you pushed yourself harder, driven by an overwhelming need to get away. you glanced back, eyes falling on damon.
“where the hell are you going?”
with a balloon.
“you're not gonna kill me?” your words were nothing but serious, but damon couldn't believe what he was hearing.
“i hadn't planned on it, jesus,” he was exasperated as he stood there like a bobblehead, the string attached to a red ballon in his hand. “if i was gonna kill you, i wouldn't use a balloon. vampire, hello?” he walked towards you, clutching the balloon the way you did your shopping bags.
“what am i supposed to think?” you snapped, your tone defensive as he stood there, now a foot away. “you lie about protecting me and then you lock me in your car and drive off with a shovel in the trunk.”
damon sighed as he met your eyes. “stefan sent me to help you with your grief.”
“you're kidding, right?”
“no!” he exclaimed, wishing his original plan had been to kill you. would have saved him most of the trouble. “look, i know a little something about loss. it can take you to some real dark places, especially if you don't face it head-on.”
he extended his hand, the bright, red balloon now just under your nose. you hesitantly accepted, the toy now in your hand. “what's this for?” damon sighed, but he was grateful you had at least taken the balloon. “the balloon represents the spirit of the life lost. by letting it go, you're acknowledging the pain you feel, and releasing it at the same time.”
you rolled your eyes at the sentiment, but the balloon never left your hand. you couldn't help but scoff, feigning disbelief all the while knowing it pulled at your heartstrings. “that's ridiculous,” you countered. “besides, i don't feel what you think i'm feeling.”
“then it should be real easy.”
“fine. if i do this, will you go?” you were determined to prove your point, as much as you were to get rid of him. he nodded, a silent agreement falling into place.
with a deep breath, you rose from your spot on the ground, your fingers gripping the balloon's string. you stared at the vibrant red balloon, its color standing out against the backdrop of the park. as you gazed at the balloon, memories of your loss flooded back—fragments of joy, excitement, and dreams unfulfilled. your façade of strength began to crack, revealing the raw pain beneath the surface.
“should i say something?” you questioned.
“only if you want to.”
“not really, no.”
“that's cool.”
your gaze dropped to the balloon, back facing damon as you let out an exasperated sigh. the grip you had on it tightened. in that moment, you realized you didn't wanna let go. having a baby, it was all you ever wanted. having a family with your loving husband, who was drowning in his own pity, knuckles bruised and eyes heavy from no sleep—it was all you wanted. you wanted a child. you wanted to be a mother. you wanted to spend your early mornings making your family breakfast and cradling your baby in your arms late at night.
“any time now,” damon said gently. he watched with knowing eyes as you spent the minute holding the balloon, instead of letting go like you insisted on doing.
“this is stupid,” you laughed shakily, your entire body trembling as you stared down at your feet. “i didn't even want this baby.” lies. all you could do was lie to yourself and your brother-in-law. he listened, murmuring a small 'yeah' despite sensing the way you lied to yourself to mask the pain you felt. “and i would've been a terrible mother.”
“if you say so.”
your fingers grazed the round side of the balloon gently, your heart heavy. tears welled up in your eyes as you brought it to your chest, the material digging into your skin. you imagined it to be your unborn baby, their whole fist clenched around one of your fingers, toothless smile stretched on their face. it made you smile, despite the ache in your heart and the tears that slowly began to fall after two weeks of being held up.
“if it was a boy, i was gonna name it giuseppe, after your father,” you trembled as you held onto the balloon, earning another soft 'yeah?' from damon as he listened carefully. “and a girl, lillian. after your mother.”
“whose idea was it?”
you spoke, voice thick with tears. “mine.”
damon smiled, pleased with the sight of you coming to terms with your feelings. “thank you,” you whispered, blinking back your tears. he nodded in response.
damon's eyes held yours, his voice a mere whisper. "let go."
tears welled in your eyes as you struggled to release the string, your knuckles white with the effort. it was a battle against the fear of losing the pain that had become strangely familiar.
and as the balloon soared higher, a tear traced its path down your cheek, the release of the string mirroring the tentative release of your grief. it was in front of you, for a good second—a mere five finger touch away from your face. you so desperately wanted it back in your hands, to cradled it the way you would have your child. it was too late, the balloon only drifting farther and farther away from your reach.
with the park around you, the weight of your emotions began to dissipate, leaving a raw vulnerability in its wake. the balloon continued to float along, just as life. in no time, it disappeared from your sight, leaving you with nothing but the ache in your heart.

Coming out the shadows again just to say… If Klaus killed my mama he wouldn’t have been alive long enough to have his own show😭☠️ Srry not srry.
Tyler did not try hard enough to get revenge. Idc who end up as collateral as long as it not my dad, sister, or bsf…and a few close friends 😭. Even then I might have to give one of those last two up in order to complete my goal🤷🏽‍♀️
I love him but no way I’m letting that slide.
Anyway Byee back into the shadows <3

Stefan Salvatore X Fem!Reader Lorenzo St. John X Fem!Reader (Platonic)
Word Count: 967
Requested: Anon
Requested: Being best friend's with Caroline and you have feelings for Stefan, but so does caroline so you don't say anything. Enzo picks up on this and gets you to admit your feelings for stefan. Enzo likes you but he tries to help you out and Stefan doesnt know what he feels about anyone. *one-shot tvd. Don't know where else to to with the plot.
Warning: one sided love
Tumblr media
You and Caroline had been friends since you were in school but you had become closer at the supernatural developments in town. When Caroline became a vampire you were the first of your human friends to pay her a visit and trust that she wasn’t going to make you her next meal. You guys got closer after that and she’d usually be the one that kept you safe when some new threat made it’s way into town. You like to think that you were a good friend, you always took a step back in favour of your friends no matter what the situation.
That was where Stefan came in, he had been interested in Elena when he first came to town and she seemed to be willing to give him a chance, so despite your own interest you encouraged her to pursue her feelings and watched them be happy together for a while before they eventually broke up. It was then that Carolie told you that she liked Stefan so again you smiled and encouraged her forward despite your feelings. You figured that no one would notice this time, never seemed to but you were wrong, Enzo had been watching you quite closely and had noticed your tendency to step back from things or take a hit.
“Why do you do that?” Enzo asked as he took the now vacant place next to you, Caroline had left in search of Stefan at a party that Damon had decided that they all needed after yet another win. “What? Talk to my friends?” You asked. “It’s kind of what good friends do.” “No not the talking, you like him too right?” Enzo asked. “Hm?” You hummed in question as if you didn’t know where this conversation was going. “Stefan. I don’t understand how so many of you fall for that idiot but you like him too right?” Enzo asked. “Doesn’t matter.” You answered. “It definitely matters.” Enzo answered “what are you going to do? you know watching people be happy isn’t going to help you be happy.” “Look, I really don’t think that he’s interested in me.” You shrugged. “How would you know if you keep throwing all your friends at him?” Enzo asked. “Enzo, I'm not going to hurt my friends to get ahead.” You waved him off. “You don’t have to.” Enzo said, reaching out as you began to stand up “trust me there’s a way to find out and if he does want to pursue you I’ll help you.” “Why should I trust you?” You asked. “I’m invested in the underdog, I used to be one you know?” He asked. “This would make you happy?” You asked. “The happiest.” He answered. “Fine.” You mumbled.
That was why you found yourself standing with Enzo, he had briefly walked you through the plan but you still weren’t clear on how he was planning to get him to admit it. You don’t even know how he knew that Stefan was going to be at The Grill but there he was, Enzo guided you to a seat next to Stefan, he took the seat on your other side. “We didn’t know that you’d be here Stefan, maybe you can help me convince her.” Enzo said as he leaned forward. “Convince her of what?” Stefan asked. “Well I’ve been trying to get her to go out on a date with someone, you know since she’s always making sure that all of her friends are happy.” Enzo answered with a shrug. “There has to be someone out there for her right?” “Sure.” Stefan answered, he seemed to be a little detached from the conversation and you could tell this wasn’t going anywhere good. “Nothing more than ‘sure’?” Enzo asked. “Look it doesn’t matter what I think, (Y/N) can do whatever she wants, it’s none of my business.” Stefan answered. “See no point in bothering people with this Enzo, honestly I’m fine the way that I am, I’m gonna go now okay?” You asked standing up, you could feel them both watching you but you left anyway heading down the streets back home.
“I honestly don’t understand what they all see in you.” Enzo muttered when he lost sight of you. “Neither do I.” Stefan muttered. “You know I don’t care what you think about yourself, there’s no need to hurt them to push them away, you know what that does to someone like her? Elena chose Damon and that makes you feel like crap but there’s no need to make everyone else feel like crap. She was too good for you anyway.” Enzo shrugged. “What? And you're better?” Stefan asked. “It’s none of your business right?” Enzo asked standing from where he had been sitting to go and find you.
Enzo found you back at your house, you were lying in your bed curled in on yourself and he sighed as he walked over to you, he sat on the edge of the bed “I’m sorry.” He said softly “I really thought that it would have been different.” “Thank you for trying, it’s not your fault, I’m not what he’s looking for.” You answered, your voice shaking as he assumed you were attempting to hold back tears. “Come here.” He said softly, holding out his hands and pulling you into a tight hug “you're too good for any of us, you’ll find someone, I promise.” You didn’t say anything but he didn’t force you to instead he gently ran his hand up and down you back helping you calm down and giving you the time that you needed to work through the new information. Enzo had a new found need to protect you from anything that might hurt you, he hated seeing you cry and he’d never let it happen again.
Requests and general question!

i'm not sure if this is in line with your guidelines but... I'm gonna shoot my shot! Can you please do one where Damon and reader are arguing like little kids over something? Like cringey roasts and one liners that are over-used and just generally annoying each other in an implied love-hate best friendship? Maybe Stefan comes in at the end to "break it up" or get them focused back on their task... Thanks! BTW I’m loving What We Knew so much, I can’t wait to see what happens with Elias! :)
Pairing: Damon Salvatore & Fem!Reader
Summary: They may be best friends at the end of the day… But it doesn’t make Damon any less annoying.

Word Count: <1k
A/N: Yessss thanks for this request! This one was cute to write, and I hope you enjoy!! I’m so happy to hear you’re enjoying What We Knew, I’m excited for you to see what’s coming!!!!!

She widened her eyes slightly, annoyed,
“What? What are you looking at?”
“I’m trying to kill you with my mind,” he glared and she sighed,
“Okay well, we’ll have time for that later, focus,” she said,
“Whatever,” he rolled his eyes. strolling to the nearest liquor cart,
“Damon,” she sighed,
“What? We’ve been at this for like three hours. Won’t hurt to chill a bit,” he shrugged,
“Wow, if ignorance is bliss you must be the happiest person right now,” she sighed, astonished,
“Shuddup,” he grumbled, pouring his drink, “you’ve got it all made up in your head that we can just solve all of this by looking really hard at some words in a few newspapers,” he said, “news flash, Y/N, this is bigger than us!”
“So we’re just supposed to just drink the problem away?”
“Like I said, won’t hurt to chill,” he smiled tightly,
“You know I try real hard to get your perspective on shit but this?” She asked. She clicked her tongue and shook her head, “I don’t know if I can get my head far enough up my ass for this one,”
“When?” He asked,
“What?”
“Did I ask?”
“Oh my god,” she groaned, stepping to the liquor cart. She pulled the drink from Damon’s hand as he was about to take a sip,
“Hey, hey!” He said. He looked at her, brows furrowed, lifting his hand slightly. He gave her a light push on the arm and she pushed him back,
“Focus,” she widened her eyes. He rolled his, and grabbed another glass from the cart. She groaned again, setting the glass in her hand down, “fine. I’m done. You’re being so annoying,”
“You are being so annoying,”
“Whatever,” she rolled her eyes, flopping onto the couch. He flopped down next to her. They sat in silence for a few moments. Y/N’s fingers rubbed her left temple, eyes closed as she pondered what the fuck else to do.
Damon sighed, “Wanna watch a movie?” He asked,
“What? Damon no,” she groaned, relaxing her head against the couch and turning her head to him, expression wound with incredulity,
“Okay, okay. Just an offer,” he shrugged, taking a sip of his drink. Y/N sighed. Propping her elbow on the arm of the couch, she leaned her head on her palm, just tired.
“Stefan’s back,” Damon sighed as took the glass from his lips. Y/N glanced at him again as he spoke, and then heard Stefan herself. Quick footsteps, undoubtedly Stefan’s, neared that smaller living space. She sighed, standing up and turning around,
“Hey,” Stefan nodded, “you find anything?” He asked, walking down the few steps. Y/N shrugged, turning to the table with countless papers scattered about,
“Nope,” she sighed, “nothing,”
“Nada,” Damon smiled tightly. Stefan neared the table as well, brows pulling together as he read a few papers,
“Wait…” He said just above a whisper, “Wait, what is this?” He asked, lifting a page. He looked up at Y/N, then behind him to his brother,
“What?” Y/N asked, brows furrowing and stepping closer to Stefan. She peered at the page he read, seeing no issue, “what’s wrong?” She asked,
“These are all newspapers and records from 1864-1870,” he shrugged,
“Correct,” she nodded,
“No, no, no,” Stefan sighed, moving some other papers around in hopes to find what he was looking for, “we’re not looking for when Katherine left Mystic Falls,” he said,
“What? What are you talking about?”
“We’re trying to figure out when Klaus originally did. Katherine wiped her records there’s no telling where she was until 1927 anyway,” he said and Y/N just looked at him for a moment. Brows furrowed, she held her expression. Though, after a few seconds, her eyes moved to Damon’s,
“Are you fucking kidding me?” She asked him,
“What?! How is this my fault?” Damon asked, already on the defensive,
“How is this your fault, how isn’t it your fault?” She asked and he just rolled his eyes and sipped his drink, “God Damon we just spent three hours looking for dirt on Katherine instead of Klaus,” she widened his eyes,
“So I misheard him, so what?”
“Dude you were just complaining about how long we were taking!” She argued,
“Hey, you know I am not reliable regarding anything about Katherine that isn’t killing her,” he shrugged,
“Oh my god you are such a child—”
“You are such a child–”
“No you–”
“Alright, alright, enough!” Stefan raised his voice slightly, putting his hands out to silence the two. They scowled, and looked away from one another, “look, I’m just glad I came back earlier than planned,” he sighed, “it doesn’t matter, I’ll help you guys find the archives we need for him. I’ll be right back,”
“What, you had them upstairs this whole time?” Damon asked,“I got a list upstairs, Damon,” Stefan narrowed his eyes and Damon shrugged at that, “I’ll be right back. Try not to rip each other’s throats out,” Stefan sighed and the both of them rolled their eyes.
