Trying really hard to not imagine a fanfic where Criston is dying from wounds he received while in battle. Instead of thinking about dying, all he can think about is Alicent and the Green kids.

He thinks about Aegon winning the war and if he’ll ever be given a chance to be a good king. How Helaena used to show him her favorite bugs. How proud he is that Aemond grew into a great warrior after so many setbacks. He regrets not being able to spend a lot of time with Daeron.

And just for an extra bit of sadness, Criston thinks of Alicent’s smile and if she’ll ever know just how much he loved/cared for her.

When Alicent Hightower moved her four children to the states to start a new life, she hadn’t excepted to meet a ranch owner who would open his heart up for her and her little family.

Criston Cole: The ranch had been in his family for years before he met his soulmate, Alicent. Along with her, he now has four children that he loves dearly, even if they can make his head spin sometimes. He spends his mornings making breakfast for the family, and then working on the ranch with all of his children.

Alicent Hightower: The young English woman met her soulmate, Criston, when she her eldest boy got lost in the grocery store. Criston found him and the rest was history. She likes to spend her time gardening and working at her flower shop. She tries her best to attend the matches of her three eldest children, but the danger of their sports scares her.

Aegon Hightower: The twenty something young man lives at home with the rest of his family where he helps out on the ranch. His bull riding career has taken off within the last couple of years. If his mother won’t come to see him, he always knows that Helaena, his sister and secrete lover, will. He always makes sure to attend her matches in return. Aemond and him both fell in love with sport at a very young age due to their father teaching them.

Helaena Hightower: The barrel rider is making her name known amongst others and her talent can be seen by anyone who lays their eyes on her. She likes to help around the ranch, the garden, and watch her brothers matches. Aegon and her have been secretly together since they were fourteen. When she’s not busy with training, she can be found at her mothers flower shop in town. Aegon is usually trailing behind her like a lost puppy.

Aemond Hightower: Like his brother, Aemond’s passion can be seen in the sport of bull riding. The rush of it all is what he enjoys the most, especially when he goes up against Aegon. He’s a private young man and no amount of buckle bunnies can get him to spill his secretes. He likes to work on his fathers (family) ranch and spend time with his family.

Daeron Hightower: The youngest of the family can always been seen either at school, the ranch, or around town. He loves to help his father with whatever work that needs to be done on the ranch, and he works weekdays at his mothers shop. He didn’t get into bull riding like his brothers, but he does have a passion for helping the animals around him. His dream is to go to school to become a veterinarian.

Thoughts on House of the Dragon and Daemyra; spoilers ahead

Sooo I definitely think Daemon originally wanted Rhaenyra for the throne. I think he still wants her for the throne. He’s a Targaryen, the need to rule is in their blood, but... okay, here me out. 

I also think he wants her, regardless of throne, and I don’t think he expected that. Neither of that. I don’t think he expected to want her and I don’t think he expected to want her without a throne. He realised he would want her even if she wasn’t an heir and it’s one thing to simply want her, but another thing completely to want her bare, crownless, whole. In his head, this is far worse I think; to want her just because of her alone. Because lust is familiar to Daemon, lust is safe, he can live with that, but I don’t think he ever wanted someone for them alone and that stumps him.

I’m not saying he loves her, far from that. Rhaenyra is still too young in ways of the world for him to love her romantically, but she is his niece. He does love her as an uncle and he does care, I think that much we can all agree on. However, I think this is where real problems for him lie. He found himself sexually wanting someone that he genuinely cares for and that’s why he’s such a hot mess. I mean, don’t get me wrong, he’s always a hot mess, the man’s as chaotic as they come, but I don’t think he’s as impulsive and thoughtless as everyone makes him out to be. He is, for sure, but that man spends more time scheming and planning than people do sleeping. He planned to seduce Rhaenyra, to have them marry, to sit on the throne together, to pop out little Targaryen babies. I really do think it was that simple in his head. Hard to achieve but if it’s achievable, it’s good enough for Daemon. And this is where Rhaenyra fucked it up for him.

I don’t think he expected her to want him back like that. I don’t think he expected her to want him enough to take control and go after him. He expected her to comply because he’s familiar, because he wouldn’t hurt her, because he’s on her side, because he’s her best choice, because, eventually, she loves him as an uncle. Not because she genuinely wants him. And Rhaenyra isn’t afraid to challenge him, to bite, to call him out on his bullshit. And that makes him feral, especially now that he’s accepted the fact he wants her because, yes, she’s the throne, but she’s also Rhaenyra. He miscalculated and now she’s taunting him and you know, good for her.

So like, the point I’m trying to make is; I think Daemon went after her for throne, realised he also wants her without a throne, had a minor crisis about it, and is now a mess because she was means to an end before, but now she’s the end in on itself. She’s his “buy one, get one for free” and Daemon’s not dumb, he’s greedy.

Also, I have to mention, I don’t condone incest, but these are Targaryens we’re talking about here and Matt Smith is hot with Legolas hair so my morals are taking a vacation. And another thing, I love Daemon, morally grey characters have always been my favourite, but Ser Harwin Strong... that scene at the end of episode 5... my word. While Daemon disappeared in the whole mess, as he always does (the fucker), and left Rhaenyra alone, Ser Harwin Strong went through those men. That inhale and first push he did had me on my knees.

I love the idea of Criston being the father that Alicent’s children never had. A modern take.

- Him and Alicent are not dating, they are just these platonic soulmates and Criston was always the one who helped out with her children.

- He would take little Aegon to school and he would always pick him up and ask him how his day went. They would sit in the car and he would listen to Aegon babble about the things happening in school as they picked up Aemond and Helaena from their school.

- When Daeron was born, Criston was there the entire time at the hospital to keep the other kids in check and watch them as their baby brother was being born.

- When they’re a little older he teaches each of them how to drive. Aegon and him definitely got in a small argument because Aegon almost crashed, but it was all solved when they sat on a bench in the park and ate ice cream.

- Criston is the one who got Aemond interested in fencing and he would practice with Aemond since he used to play in collage. It became something that they bonded over.

- He buys Helaena all of her sewing supplies and he sat there for hours a couple of times as she taught him how to sew a shirt for Alicent

- He takes Daeron to all of his soccer practices and Alicent and Criston will sit on the sidelines cheering on Daeron during his games. Daeron always gives them a thumbs up and wide smile in return.

- He was there when they all went through their first heartaches, when they got in fights. He was there when they would call him crying about something.

- At a certain point when Aegon was 16, Helaena 15, Aemond 14, and Daeron 11 Alicent told Criston that they should get a house together.
