Sometimes a family is a traumatized teenage girl with telekinesis, her emotional support Saint Bernard, her adopted cowboy Clint Eastwood look-alike father from another world and their sentient red 1958 Plymouth Fury.

recently listened to two infamous nightmare time episodes (Jane's a car and Hey,Melissa) and i noticed that both of these stories remind me of other horror stories (didn't notice this as much in other nmt eps)
Like Jane's a car: Christine by Stephen King
and Hey, Melissa reminds me of the movie Audition or Misery (the main character of Misery is even named Paul!!!)
Im now curious if anyone else noticed stuff like this in other nightmare time eps!

Jeez, has it really been 40 years since one of my all time favorite movies was released?
I still think CHRISTINE is a film that is not only a big reason I'm a film buff, but has seriously aged better as the years go by as a commentary on our obsession with cars and rose-tinted nostalgia.
It's also one of my favorite films by one of my most favorite directors - John Carpenter - complete with fantastic direction, incredible atmosphere, widescreen visual flavor, and his excellent haunting synthesizer score.
If you haven't seen this movie, please give it a watch when you can. 40 years, and it still holds up amazingly!

Christine for the headcanon thingy c:
Sickos: YES HA HA HA YESSSS
Realistic HC: Has an intuitive sense of people’s feelings in relation to others; she can know who your friends and enemies are just by sensing your energy.
Unrealistic but funny HC: If Arnie accidentally falls asleep in Darnell’s, Christine will nudge him, honk her horn or turn on her headlights right in front of him. Arnie’s not sure if it’s annoying, funny, or cute. Probably a mix of all 3
Edgy HC: Being temporarily beaten and destroyed by the Repperton gang already hurt, but when they broke her radio, she felt devastated. The songs on the radio are a primary way of communicating, and she had no way of screaming for help when that happened.
Unrealistic but It’s My Rules HC: After Christine gets crushed and Arnie dies in an unrelated accident, his spirit joins hers and they are able to regenerate Christine’s body again, which is why Sandy, affiliated with Arnie’s enemies, is killed in a car accident [implied to be caused by her.] C&A are now able to have fun and be at somewhat peace, but part of Arnie’s spirit is reluctant to seek revenge on Dennis or Leigh, which causes a bit of contention with Christine.
I KNOW THAT LAST ONE WAS LONG BUT THIS BOOK AND MOVIE MAKE ME GO APESHIT

Rereading Christine by SK as an adult got me like: "I want a possessed car too" and here's why:
the car repairs itself (will stick with the book version of 'herself' from now on) - cracked windshield = already repaired twice, headlights fixing themselves, rust dissapearing, all dents on her body gone, not to mention all the repairs she does all on her own under the hood
with her 'de-aging' process, you get rid of acne (which I don't really need but it's a plus if you consider how much smoother Arnie's skin got)
you don't need to change the tyres according to season - Christine rode multiple times already on sleet covered roads like she would have on dry roads with summer tyres on
she plays music for you - if 'I put a spell on you' isn't creepy for you to have it played all of a sudden by her
I'm pretty sure she doesn't need gas to function - I don't remember all the details from my first read almost 6 years ago, and I'm currently halfway through the book, but I don't remember Arnie ever stoping at a gas station. And taking into account how much of the night Christine spends riding on her own, scaring the shit out of everyone she is jealous or furious on, I really believe she runs gas free

Behold! A whole goddamn new page of Christine shit!!! Which I am once again posting to side because cough cough middle drawing.
For those who may be unfamiliar with the source material or just don’t know what my versions of the book’s characters look like:
Glasses Guy - Arnie Cunningham
Fucked up weirdo in the top right corner - The ghost of Roland D. LeBay
Curly Hair Dude - Dennis Guilder
Girl next to him - Leigh Cabot
Ponytail Parka Man - Buddy Repperton
Puffer Jacket Pointer - Hitchhiker who is unnamed lmao
That was probably unneeded but whatevs. Just take it. Just take all of this
