MY DRAGON QUEST MONSTERS THREAD

Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince is the first DQM game I've ever gotten to play after admiring the series since childhood. The bad news is that it leaves out exactly the three DQ monsters I love most. The good news is that everything else about it is great. I've been taking regular screenshots as I play and I am going to start adding things about it to this post, so it is going to get long. First of all here are exactly my next three favorite monsters in the franchise, which they fortunately did include, and were all available to me by almost the first area:

"Mad Mollusk" or in other dq games "taileater" is great because it has a sad flabby slug face at one end and a fanged leech mouth at the other end. When it uses magic, it reveals giant eyeballs in its antennae somehow?! Love how big the "carnivorous" mouth gets in the attack animation. What a stretchy guy!

"Lunatick" is just called "meda" (eye) in Japanese, I'm glad they decided it was like a parasite thing in the localization.

Finally there's DROHL, a classic DQ enemy that looks like...well I'm not gonna say what it really looks like but I think it's a cool little freak unrelated to that and I think it talks exactly like Droopy dog. Oddly it's known as a "Drohl DRONE," and I believe there are other "castes" in other DQ games, but only the "drones" are in this one sadly. I've yet to find this in the wild; I got it through the breeding system!

....Which is by far the most addicting thing about this game. The actual gameplay is good solid turn based RPG stuff, if a bit basic, but every monster can be bred with another monster to unlock a slew of other species. This is one of the first games in which they actually call it a "fusion" system now, I guess dropping the word "breed" from the English localization, but all other in-game dialog still calls these the 'parents' and 'offspring' and even makes jokes that they're getting married, so yeah, it's still breeding. What happens when you breed a slime with someone's dead grandpa??

.....There are multiple monsters you can get from that, but one of them, and the one that makes the most sense, is Slimeshroom! This is a new DQ slime that's some fungus! What's also fun is that every monster has up to three skills, and each skill actually unlocks a ton of spells, attacks, boosts and effects as you spend skill points on them. Then when you breed two monsters, you can give the baby any three skills from the parents. Any at all! I used this to make my Slimeshroom both a healer and a fire mage in the early game. This catches you up with the same progress I talked about when I first got the game almost two months ago so here's some things that have happened since:

I bred a flying cat and a vampire chinchilla to get a.....sexy bat??

I helped a fat rat - that's the name of his species - rescue his son

I bred a people ghost with a lamp ghost to get a bag of dirt!

I fought this bastard giraffe man who called an elderly wizard a "naughty boy" and put him in candy jail.

"Duffer" from the Giraffe quest is also best friends with Eileen the eye demon, and when you rescue him, they become your loyal subjects! BAD NEWS: this entire game is actually a prequel to Dragon Quest 4, and the player character of this game is the villain of Dragon Quest 4. Duffer and Eileen are also in Dragon Quest 4. They die :( .......Maybe this game gives you a chance to fix that future??? I don't know.

I don't know who needs to hear this, but you should make an OC.

You should make an OC. Specifically a Spider-Sona. Like now. Preferably yesterday. [A MEDIUM-LONG essay about OC's, fanfiction, and how to enrich and better your writing skills in literally every sector. Throughout this essay I reference my two characters Disco-Spider and Inca-Spider as examples of the way OCs can be used.]

I feel like a lot of the time we get so caught up in posting and notes we forget that for many artists and writers on this platform - fanfiction is not the true end goal.

Many of us write and draw fanart for years -

But the fact of the matter is if you want to be an author someday, if you want to be a graphic novelist, an animator, etc, etc - You're going to HAVE to make OCs.

If you want to study English in college or publish books - you're gonna have to write an OC at least once. If not hundreds of times.

If you want to study art - chances are at some point you're gonna have to fill a portfolio with original pieces, including some of OCs.

If you want to do something with your writing, if you want to get better - or make a career out of your art, you HAVE to make OCs at some point.

And this is especially true for fanfiction writers.

You can get very very very good at writing in your specific fandoms, you may have the emotions of the characters on point, and the ability to describe the scenery.

But if you don't know how to create and design a character - if you don't know how to worldbuild, or come up with scenarios without the help of characterai and ChatGPT - you won't be able to write a book.

If you're an artist and you don't know how to draw an original character from scratch, how to match colors, how to draw certain skin tones, certain hair, wheelchairs and mobility aids, how to design a character from looks, to clothing - it's going to be so hard to expand your art outside of fanart. You'll always be beholden to the notes and popularity of your particular fandom.

Do it - even if you've never written or never draw before. Even better.

That's why I CHAMPION Spider-sonas so much. They're basically OCs on easy mode.

Can't write backgrounds yet? Here's a bucket on canon events to pick from? Can't draw faces? Blank mask with eyes.

Hell, if you're really really new about it - just pick a character and make a slightly different variant. Make a Hobie of your own, make a Peter variant. Make a Mary Jane variant. Pick a something you like and turn that into a character.

Can't write? Just fill-in the 'My name is [blank], I was bitten by a [blank]' script that Miles does. Can't draw, just draw out a basic shape of a body and color-out the suit, no fancy pose needed. That still counts!!

Make a self-insert. Make yourself fit into the story, design your suit, write out how you fight crime, how you'd act at the Society, meeting Miguel or Miles.

That's still character design, that's still worldbuilding.

We always hear people say 'Make art for yourself' and yeah that sounds nice - but people also misinterpret it.

Make art for yourself doesn't just mean making art that you personally like.

Making art for yourself also means making art that develops your skills even if no one gives a fuck. It's about making art as practice without the intention of it being 'completed', making OCs that never get used, drawing locations you see or writing a random ass short story then shoving it into your Google Drive forever.

Making art for yourself means making art that invests in yourself.

It means making art that interests you, challenges you, or helps you develop.

And making OC's helps develop your fanfic writing skills.

In may fandoms we begin to fall into these routine 'tropes' between characters and their personalities. This is usually known as the 'fanon' characterization.

Because when you have a set amount of characters and people, there's also a set amount of interactions and relationships between those people.

Writing OCs and having those OCs interact with canon characters allows you to dig deeper into sides of the canon characters we'd never otherwise see.

That's why I wrote Disco-Spider Diane like I do. Often, we see Hobie characterized as the chaotic, rowdy, confident type - which is perfect characterization for him. But in almost all of his interactions - he's the wilder, bolder, extroverted one. I wanted to put him in a situation where for once, he was the calmer one. I wanted to explore more grounded and chill sides of Hobie, one where he's the one grounding the other, and thinking logically - because in canon, we're hinted at a side of Hobie who's way more methodical and slow-paced and willing to stop and wait it out and play it off. And I wanted to see that. I wanted to explore what he'd do if he was faced with someone just as chaotic, who put on a cheeky ironic act - just the same as him.

Because no other characters serve that purpose in canon.

If there are elements of a character or concept you think are interesting but outright ignored by canon and fanon, you can create an OC to explore those parts.

For Disco-Spider: I wanted to explore how someone like a militant Black Panther would handle being Spider-woman, when Spider-people are usually shown as pacifists - what that would look like or how it'd shape her morals based on era, etc. For Inca-Spider: I realized there were so many culture based Spider people like Pavitr and Spider-UK. But none for indigenous communities, and NONE from countries that only existed in other universes. So, I created an indigenous character from Tawanti - a country that's located where Peru would be for us.

You can give a canon character a sibling, to explore how they'd interact with family. Give them a partner that acts totally different than their canon partner, write how that'd change the way they show love.

OC's make your original writing better, AND your fanfiction writing too. They can help you understand canon characters on a deeper level.

And sure, nobody likes your OC. NOW.

But every single character you write about, is someones OC. Every character you write about was once treated that way. Once upon a time, Dean Winchester was just some rando character in the pilot script of a show that hadn't picked up yet. Probably no one gave a fuck until CW picked it up.

The writers had to not only make him and develop him - they had to BELIEVE in him enough to pitch him to a TV show channel to make people care.

That's always the first step. Believing your character's story is worthy enough of being told and presenting it as such.

ESPECIALLY if your OC represents a demographic you don't see represented. Cause yes if there isn't any black women in canon then I'll Thanos this shit and do it myself.

Make OCs.

Write them. Draw them. Even if it's bad. Who the hell cares. Big Mouth is on Netflix with multiple seasons, have you seen that show?? 'Ugly' art is not a crime.

Make piccrews, fill out OCforms or take quiz's as them. Write little blurbs of them hanging with canon characters then post it in the tag.

You don't need a huge Spidersona sheet or a long long fic explaining their backstory. They can just be there.

MAKE OCs.

Make them to explore more in your fanfiction, make them so future you can write that novel or draw or that comic or sell those prints or whatever it is you plan to do.

Make it so your fanfiction AND original writing can grow stronger. It isn't just about notes and content and follows.

Make an OC. Make a Spidersona. Literally you have nothing to lose but your chains.

Oh they'll care when you pop out with that 6-book publishing deal. They'll care when you're designing big characters for movies. Cause that's how it happens. Watch.

Oh my god I was just thinking about asks the other day and then it wasn't available so I'm gonna use this. I found you through Armored Core and I've stayed for the OC art because the SUN GOD??? Immaculate. I've been dying to know, is there like, a post on here with more information on the lore of these characters you've created? I'm so invested.

I'm admittedly the WORST person to ask their OCs about because i have dozens of different AUs where those OCs doesn't even have the same names, relationships, ages, status, powers, etc because i really use them as barbie dolls

And even the lore of main universe (sol invictus) keeps changing (hence why i keep deleting the webcomic). But I promise I'm gonna try to make a definitive artbook.

However the main thing about the story that mostly doesn't change and you can read it under here:

Basically gods are aliens, they're space entities such as planets, stars, black holes, etc or even phenomenon like wind, thunder... and are more or less sentient. Once there was a huge star called Paragon that imploded into a black hole. When it imploded, its light (called Hyperion) was ejected and what remained was a black hole called Exodus (which will later become the main antagonist). Basically Paragon's consciousness was split in half between Exodus and Hyperion.

Hyperion, gathering dust and debris left by supernovae created the original sun god "Sennacherib" (this guy). After that, Hyperion created the planet on which the story takes place and the rest of its solar system (hence, the other deities).

Now comes the problem that Exodus is not happy about being left into a literal corpse state and it thinks that if it can absorb Hyperion back, it will become the star it was once before (but it's too late there's no coming back from being a black hole). Therefore Exodus desperately tries to reach the solar system Hyperion created (in the form of dark particles called Miasma that corrupt (rot or turn into monsters) and eat away everything they touch). To defend itself, Hyperion creates beings of lights (an army of angels) whose job is to destroy anything that's been contaminated by that darkness. Hyperion itself turns is busy keep up a barrier that stops Exodus from sending even more miasma (but like, things slip in, and its the angels job to kill those things).

Hyperion especially has ONE angel whose role is not only to manage mortals (like humans and other sentient races) but also to absorb the Miasma inside himself because you cannot get rid of Miasma, you have to put it somewhere. That angel is Lucifer. Lucifer is the strongest of angels, it's said his light was even brighter than the sun itself. And Sennacherib, the sun god, loved him. They were involved romantically.

Unfortunately, after thousands of years, Hyperion senses that Lucifer is reaching its limits and it's going to be problematic if they don't get rid of him soon and send him into the void where he'll cease to exist. He's going to become another Exodus with how much Miasma he's absorbed.

So Hyperion asks Sennacherib to help create a new replacement for Lucifer, one that will be less powerful, easy to kill if things go wrong but still able to absorb as much Miasma. So Sennacherib creates Adramelekh from one of his 6 arms.

The problem is Adramelekh is a body without a soul. It's literally just a pile of light. He asks Lucifer to give him a piece of his soul so he can start from it and create a full person. But he explains that Adramelekh will replace Lucifer as the light bringer. At first Lucifer is perplexed because he doesn't know what will happen to him once Adra replaces him. But he also sees it as creating a child who is the fruit of their love and accepts. The first incarnation of Adramalekh is created. She's mortal but she's not allowed to reincarnate like everyone else due to how much Miasma she absorbs, she will corrupt all the other souls. Instead she's reborn from her ashes like a phoenix every time she dies.

Meanwhile Exodus decides to launch another attack on Hyperion by creating a being of darkness called Death. Death will infiltrate the planet, live there and slowly corrupt everything as to force Hyperion to leave. The plan is to basically plant 3 seeds of chaos into powerful beings that will force weaken Hyperion.

Death plants the first seed, Pestilence, inside Lucifer during a battle. The seed drives Lucifer crazy, he starts questioning everything and eventually finds out Hyperion planned to get rid of him as soon as Adra was ready to replace him and cast him into the void. So he rebels against Hyperion, beings corrupting everything around him, but loses the war. [I have to keep brainstorming what happens to him, but he doesn't die, he's just incapacitated for like 3000 years]. The saddest part was Lucifer didn't become evil of his own, but mostly because he found out he had been betrayed by his loved ones. he still had the mental capacity to fight the seed if it wasn't for that

Later, Death plants War into a character. But that's spoiler and tbh some people who know the story probably know who. War's job is to plunge the world into chaos with constant wars.

But death's ultimate plan is to plant Famine inside Adramelekh and turn her into a black hole that will absorb everything Hyperion created.

In the future the old Sun god is badly injured and he's forced to merge with Adramelekh who then takes his place. The problem is she also loses her sense of identity because her consciousness is confused with his and the many corrupted souls she's absorbed through the millennia.

Now to Anamelekh (who doesn't have human ears like in this pic, i made a mistake).

Ana is a golem created to protect Adramelekh or execute her if she ever becomes evil. I am still brainstorming weather or not Ana used to be human. But basically Anamelekh has known dozens of Adras. They all died young for various reasons (there's one guy who keeps making sure Adramelekh dies as soon as she's reborn). All of them had different personalities, but Ana loved all of them (Well... those that survived long enough).

Except the current one (at first) who seems immature, stubborn and selfish.

Ana will also have to merge with the old moon god and become one too later in the story.

PANDORIAN LANGUAGE I.

In this post: 1. History of the runes in SSL and SSO 2. Constructing the language 3. Place in the story

1. HISTORY OF PANDORIAN RUNES IN SSL AND SSO SSL stone circle map: 10 pillars, but the runestones weren’t uniform in length and a lot of them were mirrored or reversed with the same sequence of runes. -> orange: 1. and 3. are the same.  7. and 6. are also, but reversed and shortened -> green: 2. is the same as 8. but mirrored, minus the uppermost symbol, 4. is reversed -> violet: 9. and 10. are the same, 5. is reversed

SSO stone circle map: The base rune (star, sun, moon, lighting) has been mirrored. Still 10 pillars, now they are 8 characters long each. We have 3 different sequences with none reversed or mirrored, so we will mainly use these runes for the alphabet. -> pink: 1, 3, 9, basically the same as green -> yellow: 2, 4, 6, same as orange -> blue: 5, 7, 8 and 10, basically the same as violet with little changes

Other SSO runestones : -> The ones next to the Sleeping Willow are two broken parts of the runestone yellow and one big chunk of pink. -> The narrow, older looking 8 character stones are the same as pink. -> The wider, 5 character stones are using symbols from pink, yellow and blue, but mirrored and reversed. -> The triangle runestone next to Fort Pinta is newer, made by a new artist, who only vaguely looked at the old runes. It uses some of the same symbols, but there are also 2 futhark runes in there (Gebo and Wunjo) which can’t be found on any other stones. Also the shape of the stone is unlike the other megaliths. Thus we assume that this was not done by someone who knows the proper Pandorian magic language (probably the early norse settlers of Jorvik meddled with it). It still reacts to MC’s presence, because it is made of stones from Pandoria.

Pandorian magic: -> Pandorians (like Ydris) can use it like sorcerers, with hand gestures and whatever they like. -> Non-Pandorians have to use materials from Pandoria (usually rocks) and carve the correct magic language on them to make magic happen. -> Jorvik has a lot of Pandoric stones from the meteor shower that happened in the past (because of the war

2. CONSTRUCTING THE LANGUAGE -> In the war with Garnok in Pandoria, when the aetherians came to help against him, the language of magic and of the resistance to evil became Pandorian. -> We assume, that aetherian and umbrasyan names are spelled in Pandorian. Thus the Pandorian words we have, that are gonna be used as a basis of the language are  the names Aideen (English spelling)- Ēyden (phonetic Pandorian), Pandoria – Pandōria, Fripp- Fripp, Garnok- Garnok.

Some grammar: -> Word order: SVO (Subject – Verb – Object), just like English and Swedish -> No conjugation -> Writing goes down in a coloumn -> The language is very melodic, with little to no harsh sounds.

-> RUNIC ALPHABET BASED ON the symbols on the runestones:

Different from English sounds: A (ɒ), E (ɛ), Ā (aː), Ē (eː), Ī (i:), Ō (o:), Ū (u:).

3. PLACE IN THE STORY -> Most runestones in their current state have no function to deter the forces of evil and act as defence. In SSO Rewritten, we have the Life Warden tree named Astral Crown protecting the Secret Stone Circle (SSC) from the forces of evil, preventing them from entering (except through a portal), so the runestones of SSC also have no function in this state (they are just ceremonial aka pretty).

-> SSO Rewritten: In Springvalley Phase 1- “Resurrection”, we get access to all of Pandoria and cleanse it, we farm the max reputation with the Pandoria faction led by Ydris. In Phase 2- “The Violet Fog” is the first time we meet Elise, when she chases MC through Jorvik. MC flees into the SSC, where Astral Crown stops Elise from entering it.

The new Runestone Questline takes place in the end of Phase 2, after Elise, but before we enter Spring Valley in Phase 3.

-> MC gets a message, that Fripp wants to meet you in the SSC. He tells you that you all have to prepare for the war to come, Elise is going to be a tough enemy. The druids have to bolster their defences the best they can, and the first step is to strengthen the SSC. The runestones around the circle only had ceremonial purposes, but now you have to make them into proper magic runes, that will protect the place. You should go talk to Ydris about how to use the Pandorian language as a magic weapon.

-> Linda comes with you. MC and Linda meet Ydris, he sends you all over the renewed Pandoria to look at runestones. You get a new page in your notebook labelled Pandorian language. You have to collect the drawings on all of the runestones in Pandoria. After you find one, you go to Ydris, who tells you the meaning (+pandorian phonetic). Once you collected all of the runestones and meanings, you unlock the last page, which is the Pandorian runic and phonetic alphabet.

-> MC and Linda return to SSC, where Fripp, the druids and other SRs are already waiting for them. Talk about which runes should be used where. MC has to choose the correct runes to be carved in the 10 stones.

-> For the SSC, they decide to remake the runestones with the help of Conrad. MC is tasked to meet him, offer the job and bring Conrad to SSC. He will work on the project for 10 day (a day for each of the stones). You have to complete the quest he gives you each day for him to finish a stone. Those will be simple, fun, fetching quests: he needs a special carving tool from Stonecutter’s Vault, needs you to check out a stone in Pandoria again to make sure the shape of the rune is correct, wants a dessert from Aideen’s plaza, etc. You get the stuff he wants and he will get to work. The next day, your first quest is to use your magic to activate the runestone he made the previous day. After that you get the usual fetch quest, get him his stuff, he gets to work, next day you activate the runestne, and so on.

-> While this is going on, MC will also be going around Jorvik, looking for all the old, not working runestones. You will need to carve them into one of the Pandorian words you learned. For each quest, you need to grab the carving tools and find the runestone. Once you click it, it will give you a pop up menu IN PANDORIAN about what you want to carve. Using your notebook you have to choose the correct thing to carve- For example, it will give you the runic options for “leaf”, “blue”, “defence” and “laughter”. If you choose the wrong one, you get a funny punishment: if you choose blue, the stone turns blue, if you choose leaf, a bush grows around the stone, and if you choose laughter, MC will keep laughing. You have to choose defence (after you figured out the correct rune combination). You replace every not working runestone in Jorvik this way with a useful inscription, which keeps evil forces away from the area.

-> After 10 days, Conrad is done. When you return to SSC, you activate the last runestone and the whole circle flares up with magic. Astral Crown awakens and thanks you for waking her by giving her enough power and helping her protect the Circle.

-> You get the usual item + lots of money reward PLUS since this is the end of the Springvalley - Phase 2 questline, you also get 100 SC, just like in the end of each of the phases in SSO Rewritten.

Oh hey, Homestuck 2 updated! I was expecting this to be an 11/11 update since that's a Homestuck arc number, but it's the least important of those by far.

One of the biggest mysteries of Homestuck 2 is who's narrating Candyland with Calliope gone, and the more narration-heavy style of the new team is really calling attention to that. This is very flanderized Jake English dialogue. Also a dramatically more active Jake English than we've seen all...ever?

Under no circumstances can you allow her to get to The Point.

Gonna have fun with that MacGuffin name, huh, writers? It occurs to me that Jake was supposedly a spy the whole time but this is the first indication that he's actually been telling the resistance anything instead of just calling himself a spy as a cope.

I like this art a lot. But also what the hell is Meenah doing here? Last time we saw her, in the epilogues, she was out in space and stole the Ring of Life from John before escaping into a server beacon. Did it lead her into the black hole (lmao get owned), or is this an alternate timeline ghosts? Are her eyes closed in order to drag out that reveal?

JAKE: Shit, sergeant! Cant you add her to the groupcrab? MEENAH: groupcrab MEENAH: cod damn thats good MEENAH: i just been callin em prawnference calls

As fish puns go, "Prawnference calls" is excellent.

MEENAH: idk but hypothetically speaking if i was posted up in my big mean bitch pants just gettin my empress on and you told me insturgeonts were tryin to shore up on some kinda mythic skaian artifact

So, Meenah has her eyes closed to prevent me from knowing if this is the alpha version or a doomed ghost, and now she's dropping very vague hints about what the plot point is. This does feel very homestuck, in that it's teasing out the reveals to maximize speculation. Skaia is, of course, related to SBURB, and thus this is confirmation of the fandom assumption that they're going to start a new game, without actually saying much else.

I have no idea why this air vent is Sweet Bro and Hella Jeff style, but Vriska kicking the sound affect is still funny.

The comedy quotient has increased notably under the new team.

@wistfulweaverwoman has an AMAZING breakdown of Peeta's first and last name and the symbolism behind it. Please go read that post. I'm kind of obsessed with it.

Suzanne pays attention to where names come from, so for THG and her other series, The Underland Chronicles, fanfic authors have guidance in where to get names. For THG, Capitol gets their names from Latin/Roman influence. The Districts largely get theirs from their industry (Wiress, Thresh, Cashmere, Bobbin, Tanner, Reaper, etc.). District 2 seems to follow the Capitol with Latin/Roman influences (Cato, Sejanus, Marcus, etc.). The Covey get theirs from a name in a ballad and a color (which is explained in TBOSAS).

For District 12, quite a few Seam characters get their name from nature (Katniss, Gale, Primrose, Posy, Hazelle, Lil short for Lily, Spruce), while it's been my headcanon that the merchants get theirs from derivatives of Biblical names. I always associate Peeta with Peter before pita bread, Delly=Delilah, Madge=Margaret, Maysilee/Mayfair=Mary and though they're Seam, Sae=Sarah/Sariah, Thom=Thomas.

Long, long, long time ago before Peeta's brothers had the fanon names Rye and (some other bread-related name) I used the names Jam and Jonah to make them...Peter, James, and John. This was before Mockingjay released and I'd been hoping his brothers would live and they'd have a role in the rebellion, making the trio comparison apt. I'm still attached to these names though, even if his brothers didn't really do anything. Also in the now-deleted fic I wrote of Mr. and Mrs. Everdeen getting together, I named Mrs. Everdeen Ruth, after the Ruth in the Bible that left her family and people to live and care for her mother-in-law after her husband died. The story reminded me of Mrs. Everdeen leaving her family to marry Mr. Everdeen. I don't think anyone else has this more Biblically-oriented view of the townies of D12's names. And it could just be that a lot of English names are derived from Biblical names as it is and I'm stretching. But merchants do have a distinct lack of nature names in comparison to those from the Seam so I think there's something making their names distinct. A way of showing another divide between the two cultures in D12.

Hi Tumblr it's time for sleeve theory

warning: this is gonna be a really rambling post, I sound a bit deranged. I don't believe this theory is canon whatsoever, but I'm analyzing sleeves like an English teacher

Okay so the origins of this was, as many things, a thought that crossed my mind: why is Roman the only light side with long sleeves?

and I kept thinking about it. And thinking about it. And I came to a conclusion that I like to call sleeve theory.

The sleeves represent hiding the self. now I know I sound like your high school English teacher, but let me explain.

Let's start with Janus, the most obvious example of sleeve theory. His behavior is the closest thing to proof I have.

Janus is lies, deceit, self preservation right? He's literally hiding parts of the self, that's who he is. and he's the most covered out of all of them. During his name reveal, he removes a glove to be honest and vulnerable. That behavior is really what helps prove it.

Onto Remus. So Remus is the quote unquote bad creativity and intrusive thoughts. He's got the sleeves. And he doesn't hide himself exactly, but he is hidden! He is not socially acceptable or pleasant, he isn't moral, he is hidden and surpressed! The sleeves may not be self imposed, but they are still there.

Onto Virgil, former dark side extraordinaria. He has both a long sleeves shirt and a jacket he's worn since introduction. Pre accepting anxiety, he hid major parts of who he was and still does so. Anxiety and fear are also for protection socially and physically! Sleeves.

Now the light sides complicate this. But they make sense too.

We all know about Pattons cartigan sweatshirt jacket thing. He has been known to hide negative emotions. He wears his heart on his sleeve. The cardigan is there for a reason yall. He isn't currently hiding, at least not as much, but he could be at all times. Also in that one episode where he's hiding from the present in memories, he wears the cardigan! Makes sense!

Logan is the hardest to justify. He hides having emotions and claims to be completely logical and nothing else. However, if he were who he said he was, he would not wear sleeves. He wouldn't need to because he does not have the need to lie or hide. The sleeves are a lie.

Last side, last but certainly not least, Roman. Our light side with sleeves. He uses a facade of egotism to hide his true self. His mask is visible. Everyone knows about his self worth issues, since s1ep1! His sleeves are visible but not acknowledges. Also he dresses up as the phantom of the opera. Make sense, Tumblr? Because I think it does.

im just fine with lotes of questions :) answering asks and responding to comments is one of my favorite things ever and i brings a verry big smile to my face

on andrei: i consider him to be a skinny little gut but not exactly unathletic, and in addition i think he would have basic combat training and probably be good with firearms. misha is probably a very average bodytype, nothing special, not particularly athletic.

i do not speak russian (though ferry has recently encouraged me to learn so maybe in like four years ill be able to form a sentence) so i dont know anything about the short forms so you can do whatever you want. if you coin it and peoples tart calling him that i will not stop it from happening

i do not name my characters, i usually let me friends name them (i think that the only one i named was europa and his partner). going forward maybe ill try to make it more cohesive

the time loop idea im seeing thrown around alot is really cool and while i havent particularly wrote any of my songs about that in general i see it fitting into the loose narrative i have going on. also in enigma misha is definitely talking to andrei whenever he says the word "you" but it could also be to the listener because the entire theme of enigma is 4th wall breaking and meta shenanigans like that

Most of the stuff that follows is told by Hoborg off-screen in his thoughts, so it's not all vocal but text still belongs to him.)

Hoborg: I'm not sure if I understood your question correctly but... I'm afraid you'll be disappointed with my answer. The thing is, I already do love him. But unity in such things is needed from both sides, no? I can't make him love me back, that's just cruel! I can't even make him feel sympathy towards me, it goes against what I've put into my creations... They have to choose on their own what they like and what they feel towards certain things. But even if I can't make Klogg do everything I want... I still have some responsibility before those I've created. They need to have at least someone to rely upon. Someone to love them for simply existing! At the end I've made myself friends to make it all less lonely and I love them all... there's no other way! That's why I love him, too... even though a lot of people find him scary or annoying, he's still one of us.

Yuri and Subtext in Spring 2023

Spring season is knocking at the door and the Yuri shipping in Spring 2023 will be unreal. I swear to Madoka.

There's at least two Yuris that are gonna hit us with full force, two at the very least subtext-heavy ones, and I'm sure the Uma Musume creators are gonna find a way to make it really gay in Road To The Top as well.

Here I list the shows (as far as I know, but in case there's gonna be last minute additions, I will edit this post accordingly) that are going to come out in April, as well as little side information, fun facts and my personal feelings about them:

Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury Season 2

This series is, like it says, a continuation of The Witch From Mercury which aired from October 2022 to January 2023, our protagonist is a shy girl from Mercury by the name of Suletta Mercury, who was thrown into a setting à la Revolutionary Girl Utena, with duels that determine who's going to marry President Delling's only daughter Miorine Rembran. I'm gonna keep the summary short here, because there's a lot of spoilers to beware of, but for the Yuri enthusiasts it's a show that should not be skipped over.

I personally really loved this show, it was very exciting to watch and the next cour promises a lot more than what we have already seen.

And the best thing is: You can watch all of it subbed on Youtube legally on the GundamInfo channel for free. The episodes are still being regionally unlocked, but a great portion of the world should be having standard access to most episodes by now, as well as the Prologue that is strongly recommended to watch before you get into the main series at all.

There is also a novel chapter set between the Prologue and Episode 1, which you're free to read anytime after watching the Prologue.

You are NOT required to have seen other Mobile Suit Gundam series' prior to this one, it's original and written by the author of the official Revolutionary Girl Utena novels (mind you, he is not the original creator of Utena!).

Season 2 is going to air from April 2023, every Sunday (presumably the first Sunday of the month, which is a 2nd. Oy, don't look at me like that, they did say it as cryptical as that! lmao). Edit #1: Set airing date is 9th of April!

Birdie Wing: Golf Girls' Story Season 2

This show is produced by Bandai, like the series above. The first season aired from April to June 2022. This one is honestly quite a messy but entertaining show, with quite a few genres mixed into it. The lead characters in this one are also girls and have a very soul-matey connection to one another (They legitimately can't stop thinking about one another for 5 seconds, there is also a noticeable attraction going on).

It's best described as a wlw soap opera with golf and other themes (to keep it spoiler free).

Fun fact, this series offers quite a few winks at Gundam fans and I would not be surprised, if somehow The Witch From Mercury and Birdie Wing were to collaborate in one way or another to promote the respectively other series during Spring season.

And even if you don't enjoy golf as a sport, you might still enjoy this series. I personally loved it even more as a casual binge, but that's to each their own.

Yuri Is My Job

I'm a huge fan of the manga and I can say for sure: YES, Yuri is indeed their job, but also part of their private lives.

It is personally one of the better Yuri dramas that I have encountered over the recent years and if I had to compare it to anything, then I'd say it's like Citrus, if you take away the SA, make it more manipulative instead, as well as diving deeper into the characters feelings, thoughts and struggles that come with those. I can't say for sure how much of its greatness there will be displayed in just one cour, but regardless of it, I'm excited to see the adaptation.

The general setting is the one of a café from an in-universe fictional German all-girls academy, with very sapphic display of affection among the waitresses as part of a roleplay.

Season 1 is going to air from 6th of April 2023.

World Dai Star

There is a rising trend of Takarazuka Revue anime, but why would I complain?

For those who don't know: Takarazuka Revue is an all-female musical theatre group based in Takarazuka, Japan, that perform any kind of roles regardless of gender. Because of that the "genre"(if you can call it such) itself has very sapphic undertones. Directly or indirectly influenced by Takarazuka Revue have been Roses of Versailles and Revolutionary Girl Utena, of which the former inspired Kageki Shoujo!! and the latter inspired The Witch From Mercury (so many crazy coincidences in the upcoming season, aren't there?) and Revue Starlight. To get back to this series:

It's not known a lot (or translated) what the story of World Dai Star is gonna be roughly about, but judging the media footage alone, its focus lies in the Takarazuka Revue performances and presumably to make it big in the world, if the title is anything to go by.

Season 1 is going to air from 9th of April 2023.

Uma Musume: Road To The Top

Uma Musume is back at it again, after two successful seasons, and other medias, here we have a brand new story that is gonna be directly released as an ONA (Original Net Animation), likely on this Youtube channel. It's not known how long it's gonna be, but its primary focus is a retelling of the late 90s/early 2000s era of Japanese horse racing with 3 new protagonists and I believe some reoccuring characters from either of the seasons before.

Uma Musume retells historical careers of Japanese race horses in a kemonomimi setting, and the passion of the work behind it is tangible. The emotions are captivating.

I had a hate-love relationship with Uma Musume Season 1, because it drifted away from the historical aspects here and there that it initially covered so greatly, but Season 2 reignited my love for it so strongly, that it became one of my favorite anime. A Season 3 is also in the works, which I'm excited for.

Now for the legitimacy of the Yuri in this one: No, it's not Yuri, but it offers enjoyable subtext. Season 2 is a great example for that. Uma Musume is about racing, which also leads to great rivalries. And we all know and love a good girls-rivalry story.

The ONA is going to release (whether one by one or fully remains to be seen, as its length is not known) from 16th of April 2023.

The Adventures of Dilf!Chishiya Info!!!

Hello everyone *yay* This little post will serve as an Info on the Dilf!Chishiya Series of One Shots and its Intro who all have the same Chishiya in them.

That means, in all of these Stories, Chishiya is the same age, works the same job, has the same Family and so on.

The only things that change are the plot of the Stories and the reader who plays the female lead you could say.

For that role, I could either write them as “You” which means things will go like Chishiya did this and you said that etc. I guess you know that format from other fanfictions, Imagines and so on.

I’m not so big on “Y/N” but I could do this too, which means instead of a Name, the female lead gets called Y/N which you can then imagine as yourself or put in any other name.

The third option, and the one I actually prefer, since it help me getting into the character and personality, is giving the female lead a name for the story. In this case, I would like you guys to send me some names you could see fit, since I’m running out of possible ones. I wont promise that I’m gonna use each and every single one, but honestly, again, I’m running out of possible names…

Now onto the main task here. Our Dilf!Chishiya Intro is coming!

Hey! I've been translating some of my cat's names into Clanmew and Idk if you still want to see these things BUT:

Fifkarkoss = Firefang (I used the word "burn" even though her name is Firefang but it's more of an honor title meant to mean something like "bite that burns like fire" so I thought it would fit better! Technically it'd be Kafyarkoss)

Awlharchiki = Sunfrost

Pbumpyrripyrra = Rabbitdash (pyrripyrra was what I think is closest? if i missed a word that would better mean like, to sprint then pls lmk!)

(As a note, while I was trying to name one character I remember there being a Clanmew word for Weasel? I think it was used as a prefix w the post abt Paw Soup but it's not on the lexicon.)

(Also! Fang is the only word for tooth. Would there be a word for tooth that means less fang and more like one of the smaller eyeteeth?) But my thought was I'd use Gaorki for Tigertooth (because I already used the other fang)

Roegchoop = Frognose

I also had Peachfeather but I got distracted translating the peach part and realized if the quality of a peach she was being named after is the soft fuzz then Fuffr for down feathers would work and Fuffrbufr is just fun to say.

AND FINALLY

Wagamshemi = Willowshine (tho I may have gotten the exact tense wrong)

TEETH

There are now three words for teeth, Groq, Ki, and Koss.

Groq = Back teeth, molars, usually used as the 'tooth' suffix

Ki = Canine teeth, most often used for the fang suffix

Koss = Front teeth, used for grooming and scraping

So for Tigertooth, if you're looking for a very small tooth, I'd use Gaorkoss!

WEASELS

I'm gonna bang out all of the lanky weasel-types in one go for you. Here's everything that they encounter, both invasive and native, in this area;

"STOAT" = Morfaf (Contraction of Long-fur, Kasmor + Faf) Generic term for any long, wiggly, furry carnivore. Clan cats do not know that otters are not mustelids, nor that badgers are mustelids. *shrek voice* they dont even have cladistics.

Least Weasel (Mustela nivalis) = Byrrir The smallest animal on this list, but able to kill things many times its size. Mostly distinguished from ermines by the lack of a black tail tip.

Ermine (Mustela erminea) = Rikkik Also called a stoat in English, but you can translate it however you'd like. Named for a more aggressive call they make, as ermines are the size of Morfaf that starts to get dangerous in groups.

Ferret (Mustela putorius) = Haakeke A ferret has more of a warm-up in its angered noises just before attacking, which is the most noteworthy to Clan cats because a ferret is the largest land 'stoat' they have to deal with.

Mink (Neogale vison) = Nhee Actually an introduced species! They are not native to this area, but they would be huge fans of the clean water of Sanctuary Lake. They hang out mostly in RiverClan and ShadowClan. Name for their horrible, piteous cry.

Otter (Lutra lutra) = Syiu This is not a mustelid, but Clan cats don't know this. LONGFUR IS LONGFUR.

haha, this one is gonna take a little to explain so you'll have to forgive me...

So, first I saw a lot of people posting old photos saying "this person looks exactly like this actor, he's immortal!!!" and I remember thinking "what if they're not immortal and they're just time traveling?" and that was the foundation of eventually coming up with time traveling vampires conceptually, which is the major basis for the whole plot.

Then, I watched Jaws for the first time. I loved the dynamic between the shark hunter and the marine biologist SO MUCH that I wanted to steal it. I'd never written that kind of dynamic before, and I thought it was incredibly interesting conceptually; the man who knows everything by the book but has very little practical experience versus the man who knows nothing in the books but has been living this life long enough that he knows what he's talking about, and all the interesting ways these types would clash (and learn to respect eachother)

So I just went ahead and combined those two things and conceptualized Adam and Steve. I did my first sketch of them in church, and I showed my sister and said "what should I name them?" and she said "Adam and Steve lol" and then it just stuck!

I used the characters for a school assignment and further developed them there, where I had to draw characters and a book cover. After that I was like, wow, I really want to make this a comic now!

The coloring I did originally was actually inspired by this specific illustration, I obviously don't draw like this but it's gorgeous and was really inspirational for me at the time!

But I didn't have any plot planned, just the characters and an idea for how I wanted the mechanics of the story to function, so I decided to make it a choose your own adventure story so that I didnt have to actually think up a plot. I wanted it to be somewhat meandery, and the core concept being Steve traveling somewhere new every month let me sort of "rein things in" in a way that would keep things from getting too out of hand too fast while still giving the readers control, and also giving readers many new places they could jump in if they wanted.

So then I just kinda went for it!

When I moved to making it full time I made a lot of decisions to make the whole thing a lot more cohesive, planned a lot more, and did my best to keep as much of the original spirit as I could.

I hope that all makes sense! I'm sure there's more but those are the major things (that I'm aware of)
