Not me showing up to a date for it to not only be a group date, but for the guy I was meeting to be TOTALLY invested in a different guy that was also part of the group date.

Animations I've been working on for the last 6(ish?) months!
Originally I wasn't going to post these, but my family convinced me otherwise. As the title says, for the past 6 months (I think (I lost count) I've been working on developing my skills as an animator by learning some new programs and doing some courses from Bloop Animation. So yeah, below you can see the animations and a little description of what it was like working on them.
youtube
First up we've got an animation featuring Toni the Panda and Ranger. This was the animation that took the least amount of time to make and uses a combination of traditional and puppet animation. This was my first time building any kind of 2D rig and I thought the process was fairly simple... until I moved on to the next animation...
youtube
This is the second animation I needed to do for the Toon Boom course but is the last of the 3 I finished. Animating this didn't actually take too long, it was making the rig that took forever. My main breaking point when it came to building it was the head turn and mouth positions. It turned out decent in the end, but that part sent me rocketing towards burnout.
youtube
And finally, we have a 3D animation I made for a Blender course. Some of you may recognise the characters (and the animation), and that's because the course was run by Dylan Goo. I'm pretty proud of how this one came out, considering I haven't done any 3D work since uni.
And that's it, this was a very long post so apologies for that. I would just like to end this by saying that a lot of this work is derivative of the Bloop animation courses and a lot of the assets were provided by them. But, yeah, I hope you like them and I see you next time!

thinking about how Humans Are Space Orcs stories always talk about how indestructible humans are, our endurance, our ability to withstand common poisons, etc. and thats all well and good, its really fun to read, but it gets repetitive after a while because we aren't all like that.
And that got me thinking about why this trope is so common in the first place, and the conclusion I came to is actually kind of obvious if you think about it. Not everyone is allowed to go into space. This is true now, with the number of physical restrictions placed on astronauts (including height limits), but I imagine it's just as strict in some imaginary future where humans are first coming into contact with alien species. Because in that case there will definitely be military personnel alongside any possible diplomatic parties.
And I imagine that all interactions aliens have ever had up until this point have been with trained personnel. Even basic military troops conform to this standard, to some degree. So aliens meet us and they're shocked and horrified to discover that we have no obvious weaknesses, we're all either crazy smart or crazy strong (still always a little crazy, academia and war will do that to you), and not only that but we like, literally all the same height so there's no way to tell any of us apart.
And Humans Are Death Worlders stories spread throughout the galaxy. Years or decades or centuries of interspecies suspicion and hostilities preventing any alien from setting foot/claw/limb/appendage/etc. on Earth until slowly more beings are allowed to come through. And not just diplomats who keep to government buildings, but tourists. Exchange students. Temporary visitors granted permission to go wherever they please, so they go out in search of 'real terran culture' and what do they find?
Humans with innate heart defects that prevent them from drinking caffeine. Humans with chronic pain and chronic fatigue who lack the boundless endurance humans are supposedly famous for. Humans too tall or too short or too fat to be allowed into space. Humans who are so scared of the world they need to take pills just to function. Humans with IBS who can't stand spicy foods, capsaicin really is poison to them. Lactose intolerance and celiac disease, my god all the autoimmune disorders out there, humans who struggle to function because their own bodies fight them. Humans who bruise easily and take too long to heal. Humans who sustained one too many concussions and now struggle to talk and read and write. Humans who've had strokes. Humans who were born unable to talk or hear or speak, and humans who through some accident lost that ability later.
Aliens visit Earth, and do you know what they find? Humanity, in all its wholeness.

last year i found a wii at goodwill for 25 dollars and it came with everything except a wiimote but it was in such good condition i was like hell yeah ill take it how hard can it be to find a wiimote. the answer is it's nearly impossible to find them at thrift stores now so i've spent like 8 months looking for ones in thrift stores but there wasn't a single one and then online but i just couldn't bring myself to spend 30 dollars on one single wiimote so i waited so. patiently. and then 2 weeks ago i finally found one at goodwill for 9 dollars but it was absolutely disgusting and the battery cover was missing and the compartment was all corroded so i put it back and regretted it the whole week but then this last weekend i went to savers and there was an absolutely perfect wiimote just sitting there with no corrosion and a jacket and the wrist strap and motion plus and the nunchuck was there too and i got it all for 10 dollars so the moral of the story is that sometimes things seem right for you in the moment but you have to recognize that they aren't and leave them behind so the things that are meant for you will in fact find you when the time is right. peace and love <3

right side of my spread for @kazumajizine ! (see left side here)
y0-era real estate agent!Kiryu and 80's!Goromi at The Grand. it's no secret that I love Goromi, and the idea for the dual images came from me being assigned y0 and not being able to choose between drawing "regular" Majima and my favorite of his alter egos~
below is the back that I whipped up for the physical prints- the mods had the fun idea to print them playing card sized and 2-sided and I tried my best to model something like a Bicycle card deck.
i am by no means a graphic designer, but i had a lot of fun executing this concept and am still so happy with the way this turned out :^]
