I think a lot of PJO fans are miscommunicating over a critique that the show has “made the kids too smart.” Now, this may not be the best language to voice this critique given 1.) it is not expressing a desire for writers to dumb the characters down, 2.) it is not expressing that kids who are neurodiverse cannot be intelligent, and 3.) it is not arguing that the kids in the books were less intelligent. It’s *not* actually a commentary on the characters’ intelligence within the narrative.
It is, however, a commentary on how the later half of this season has tended to do a lot more telling the audience rather than showing the audience.
There are a couple of trope categories that stories rely on when writing smart characters. The first category is what I call “not actually smart” and the second category is “too smart,” neither are a commentary on the character’s intelligence, but the story’s failure to communicate their intelligence.
Characters who are Not Actually Smart™️ tend to be those who have special access to exclusive information or special access to exclusive technology or equipment. Think: the hacker trope. In this category, if the other characters in the story were given the same resources and information as the “smart character” (if everyone was on equal footing), there’s nothing to suggest they, too, wouldn’t ALSO be capable of the same things or wouldn’t ALSO know the same things. Special treatment and an exclusive education don’t make a person smart, just as a lack of access to these privileges doesn’t make someone dumb. Another Not Actually Smart™️ trope is when the “smart” character is really only smart because all their other companions lack common sense.
The kids in the PJO TV series *do not* (technically) fall into this category of tropes. They don’t, for example, give Annabeth a special compass that tells her exactly how to proceed, and every time she knows where to go next, she says, “I thought it was obvious” as she’s holding her magical compass. And, no, her noticing the Lotus Hotel first and noticing the letter from Hermes first do not fit into this trope as these instances were not played up as Annabeth being The Smartest™️, but as just having looked up first. See: Percy’s comment, “You were two seconds ahead of me.”
On the other hand, characters who are Too Smart™️ tend to have a foil who is always two steps ahead that only they— the Protagonist— can beat (think: Sherlock), tend to have no limits to their intelligence (meaning, they always know everything, and it’s used in a deus ex machina kind of way, as in it is used to abruptly resolve a conflict or advance the plot), tend to have wild and wacky and hair-brained plans that don’t really make sense (Disney Channel Originals use this often, like A.N.T. Farm or Lab Rats), or they tend to exposition dump, which is when the character just word-vomits the knowledge they have.
The later half of this season utilizes the exposition dump and dips into the “using a character’s knowledge to abruptly solve a conflict or advance the scene,” and I really believe that the reason for this is time. Episodes are about 30 minutes long and there are only 8 episodes in the first season. This time constraint means the characters do not have time to more “organically” explore and learn and adjust. A 30-minute, 8-episode constraint on the plot requires all the characters to just know, and know immediately.
While I understand that Sally taught Percy myths and Grover trained him to know about monsters, Percy has still only been a demigod for— like— two weeks. In those two weeks, Percy has done more explaining this new world to the audience than learning about being a demigod. It’s less that Percy’s actually, legitimately “too smart” (in reference to his intelligence), and more that the writing seems not to trust the audience to be as smart as the characters.
There are better ways to demonstrate Percy’s intelligence than having him look at the camera (at Procrustes) and essentially say, “I know who you are. You’re Procrustes and you kill travelers by stretching them. Also, you guard the door to the Underworld.”
In my opinion, the episode at the St. Louis Arch better demonstrated these kids’ intelligence and resourcefulness than— say— the introduction of the Lotus Hotel & Casino.
EX: As Echidna is instigating the kids, trying to scare them, and Percy pushes back, she reveals that of course the monsters they’ve fought are like her, they are her children. And that’s when Annabeth realizes and reveals to the audience that the monster before them is Echidna, mother of monsters. This scene was a great way to illustrate Annabeth and Grover’s knowledge of monsters and Greek Mythology without Annabeth looking directly at the camera (at Echidna) and saying, “I know you are Echidna, the mother of monsters, and that the dog in the carrier is a young Chimera that you are teaching to hunt us.” The identity of the monster is revealed to us at the same time as the characters, and it is revealed to us— the audience— through and because of the character’s knowledge and intelligence.
Later, as they’re boarding the elevator to the top of the arch, Grover asks, “Is that the Chimera?” He knew what monster they were up against just by its shadow alone (impressive). He then has the line about the Chimera being the demigod killer, revealing why he was so alarmed about this particular monster and giving the audience ample information in just a few short lines. Details are being revealed to the audience at the same time as the Characters, and they’re being delivered to us through their knowledge.
Compare this to the introduction to the Lotus Hotel where Grover interrupts the conversation to essentially say, “Hey, do you remember the Odyssey? Remember when they get to the Island and meet those men who forgot who they were? It was because they ate lotus flowers. And that’s exactly what’s happening here.”
It is… boring. Why are you just TELLING us this? Isn’t there a better way to deliver this information? Do you not trust us to understand these things with the characters?
I think what would have made that episode better would be— well— length, for starters. As a writer, I would have begun the flashbacks of Percy and Sally that we see in episode 7 in episode 6. I’d begin this series of flashbacks in episode 6 to lead up to Hermes’ conversation with the kids where he talks about being close to someone you love and only hurting them. But I’d also do this to lay the foundations of Percy’s knowledge of the Odyssey.
EX: Sally and Percy leave NYC in a rush, a moment I’d parallel with Sally, Percy, and Grover leaving the beach house in a rush. To distract Percy on the long drive to the new school, Sally asks Percy to imagine he is like Odysseus; on a quest. Only, Percy is leaving home not because he has angered Poseidon, but because he has Poseidon’s favor and support. The episode will continue this parallel when we catch up with Percy in the present. I’d parallel Percy’s quest for the bolt with Odysseus’ quest. At the Lotus Hotel, their quest has been “blown” (more like directed, by Ares) off-course.
With each flashback (and there’d be— maybe— two), we learn a little about Odysseus’ quest getting blown off course, and Percy remembers a little about Odysseus’ story. These memories give the audience foundational knowledge and lead the narrative to the moment when Percy is looking directly at the Lotus logo or Lotus tree (as well as a dark, nighttime sky, signifying to the audience that more time has passed than the characters are aware of), and realizing that he and his teammates have arrived at a modern version of the Lotus tree Island. He would turn to Annabeth and say something like, “The lotus flowers are causing us to forget, just like—” and she would finish the sentence, “—just like in the Odyssey.” They might even ask each other how much time has really passed. Percy then has to “drag” his crew out of there, just as he does in the TV show when they have to find Grover (and just like Odysseus).
Nothing else in the episode changes. They’re still there to look for Hermes. They still have a conversation with Hermes. And Percy’s flashbacks “end” with him and his mom in the car in front of the school, giving the audience a sort-of cliffhanger. What happens with Percy and Sally next, and why did Hermes say that they hurt each other? We explore that in episode 7.
In this scenario, information is revealed to the audience at the same time the Characters are learning, and these details are being delivered to us— the audience— through the character’s knowledge and understanding of this world. The character understands what is happening and comes to the conclusions they do because of their intelligence and knowledge.
A narrative’s development should lead smart audiences to the same conclusions as the characters in the same moment as the characters.
It’s not that Percy is actually, legitimately “too smart;” it’s that the story has failed to communicate his intelligence in a “believable” or “organic” way, relying instead on exposition dumps. In a way, Percy’s “too smart” because they’ve given him a dumb companion: us, the audience.
I’m asking not to be spoon-fed information about this world.

rick doesn’t write nor is in charge of whatever goes on in readriordan they do their own thing over there. also mark wrote the book, which is why characters seem ooc - rick still had input in terms of outlining, plot, editing etc but mark basically wrote it. mark has talked about how much control rick gave him so I can’t see Rick being nitpicky about the details. He doesn’t even seem nitpicky in the books he writes solo. now i understand that obviously not everyone knows that and i personally don’t really like mark’s writing style, but they’re a queer poc who put a lot work into writing a story for kids about love, acceptance and overcoming trauma, something they very personally relate to. i’m not saying it can’t be critiqued at all because of this but some of you aren’t even really critiquing it you’re just genuinely being harsh and mean and refuse to even see past the words on the page to see the message and the impact this’ll have on kids, especially queer ones. but no it’s completely irredeemable and a dumpster fire all because clearly people prefer rick’s writing style to mark’s. I just…..ugh. so so disappointing.
well, actually, my genuine problem with it is the way that it was written. the pacing of it, I mean, the way that the story flows just feels wrong, poorly thought out, and poorly executed.
I'm not saying that people can't enjoy the book. And I understand that it's not written for people my age. But from the standpoint of a writer, the book is genuinely just not as good.
Mark writing the book and pouring all their love and devotion into it doesn't change the fact that it feels like it falls flat from an actual writing standpoint. It feels like it was a surface level first draft, the rough outline for what the story was going to be. It's the barest of bones, full of continuity errors and references that feel jarring coming from the characters they come from, moments that feel like they're trying to mimic the original PJO series and instead fall flat and just feel like a mockery.
The topics that the story wanted to address felt like they were shoehorned in - the whole plot was weird and contrived, the fact that Hades was the one who orchestrated the whole thing, the book itself already doesn't make sense just based on that alone.
And the way that the story went about discussing Nico and Will's trauma, I don't know. It felt like every other second Nico and Will were switching rapidly between being confident and flirtatious to individually nervous wrecks, their thoughts didn't feel entirely grounded, the action sequences felt jerky and uncoordinated, I couldn't ever get into the character's head. I couldn't ever really see it through their eyes, if that makes sense, because things were being TOLD to us the whole time, not SHOWN to us. It's one of the first things you're told when you start writing: show, don't tell.
I will say that you're right. Some of us are just being outright mean to the book, which is our right, just like it's your right have not found anything objectionable during your readthrough. And that's totally fine! We're all entitled to our own opinions, that's the joy of being online. Those of us who are roasting the book, calling it a dumpsterfire or saying it resembles a 2013 era Wattpad fic, we're all being dramatic and mean because that's just how fandom is. That's how fandom has always been. We criticize the new media because it will never be as good as the origal, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.
You're right that this book also means a lot in terms of queer rep. It's fucking insanely cool that Riordan and Oshiro got to write such a blatantly queer story about overcoming mental health troubles and navigating a relationship when you're young and traumatized! And they published it through Disney! That's a fucking massive win for representation in media, it's a crazy cool thing to have added to such a popular, well known universe like PJO! I myself figured out I was queer through reading PJO and feeling a connection to Nico specifically, so, yeah, seeing a stand-alone story about him and his boyfriend is actually really really cool to me.
That does not mean that I have to kiss it's boots and act like it's gods gift to gay kids, because it isn't. In the end, it's still a just book. it's still fallible. It is allowed to have it's faults, and I'm allowed to say what I want to about it, just like you are.
peace and love, friend. I hope you have a wonderful evening.

Whether it’s cause of the new pjo show or because my brain decided that this is what will consume my thoughts for awhile by itself, I’ve been thinking about my pjo x twst au. So, have some Shroud sibs stuff!
Tumblr media
So this is Idia, and she’s a child of Hades and the counselor of Cabin 13. She’s gender-fluid, she’s most often masc, and the main way you can tell is how she wears her hair. She’ll often wear her hair up in a ponytail or a braid when feeling feminine, and have it down when she feels masculine. Ofc, there’s exceptions, but that’s one of the easiest ways to tell.
She’s been going to CHB for a long time, and I’m not sure when she started, maybe at 7-8 years old? I feel that the Shrouds would be upfront about it all. The kids would have probably known about camp long before going there.
She wears a modified version of the CHB shirt, with it being a black hoodie instead of the orange t shirt. The design also has a skeleton Pegasus instead of a normal one. It was a joke made by the person who made the modified version for her.
Extra: Her hair is still blue, and still changes color with her emotions despite it not being cursed like in canon. This is cause of a (now dead) child of Iris playing a joke on her for being a child of Hades, in reference to the Disney version of the god. Ortho ended up getting their hair changed as well when the child of Iris refused to turn it back to Idia’s natural black.
Tumblr media
And here’s the Ortho’s!
When OG!Ortho died, Idia tried to summon him as often as she could, but when she started to get too tired from that, she, along with the help of some of the Cabin 9 kids (they think she needs desperate help, but they couldn’t resist not helping) made ORTHO to house his spirit so that it wouldn’t be as taxing on her. Also, it’s powered with use of Greek fire, which is why the flame is still there in the design.
Eventually, ORTHO gained her own sentience, and now both she and the OG!Ortho share the same body. The two have plenty of nicknames to distinguish one from the other, but the main one that people use is “Spring” for the automaton and “Autumn” for the soul.
They do have other differences, such as Spring likes to keep her hair up while Autumn likes it down, Autumn prefers clothes and Spring doesn’t, and most of the time, Spring will have the mask over her mouth, while Autumn has it over his eyes. That one isn’t a definite though. Also, Spring has bangs that sweep to her right and Autumn’s bangs sweep to his left.
Also, since their hair isn’t made of fire like in canon, it faces downward rather than floating upward.
Also, designs might be changed.
Tumblr media
Fun Fact! The Ortho’s are able to talk to each other in their head. They don’t always get along, but such is life for siblings.
Also, they call one another “Death” (Autumn) and “Sleep” (Spring) as a reference to the godly underworld twins, as Spring and Autumn consider themselves to be twins as well.

11 years + PJO Retrospective.
In honor of this year apparently being the revival of PJO, what with two books and the Disney+ series coming out, and my blog’s eleventh birthday, this is a bit of a retrospective of the series and my experience with the fandom. Warning for a lot of rambling and opinions that might not be popular.
When I got into the Percy Jackson books it was 2009, I was looking for books to read because I was going to be out for a bit because I had planned surgery, and I generally preferred young adult literature at the time because I still felt like a kid, even though I was twenty-one going on twenty-two, and that young adult lit was more adventurous, ready to push more boundaries than adult books. I still feel that way, if I’m honest.
Whoever said don’t judge a book by its cover is wrong, because the art of The Lightning Thief got my attention superfast. The original art for the books were simple and gorgeous in my opinion, and while the new covers that interlock are super cool, the original covers are just better. Especially The Lightning Thief’s.
I was at Barns and Noble looking at it, when another shopper saw I was looking at it, and she said her students loved the book. And since I was always into Greek Mythology, I got it.
I read the book, and while parts of it were cringy because of the humor, I couldn’t be mad at the book because I wasn’t the target audience. Still, the foundations and story beats of the novel were good enough I got the second and third book. I didn’t finish the third book because one of the few times I read a spoiler that turned me off a series; Luke’s death. Luke I had decided was my favorite character, and despite being the villain, I had hoped he’d survive. But, alas, he didn’t. And now, years later, I wonder what the hell I was thinking. I did read fanfics, however. And there are some good ones from back then.
Also, I have to admit, I am not a big fan of Grover. At the time I was very annoyed with the ‘humans are bastards’ trope. I felt it was very heavy handed in Grover’s subplot. While I agree that humans need to take better care of the environment, I don’t enjoy being bashed over the head with it. So, Grover annoyed me during the first book series, and I preferred Coach Hedge over Grover when it came to satyrs.
In 2010, The Lost Hero came out, and I gave it a try. I found the writing more mature, I guess. I’m not quite sure how else to explain it. But getting to experience someone else’s point of view other than Percy’s was nice. And it made me think Percy Jackson was kinda immature. Jason, Piper, and Leo were a lot more interesting to me at the time. Son of Neptune was good, though to me, Percy was the least interesting of the POV characters. And Nico di Angelo caught my attention, I reread the PJO books, read the books I skipped, and generally enjoyed myself. It didn’t hurt that Nico fit the ‘angsty dark haired swordsman’ aesthetic that I’ve enjoyed since Zuko. And I had gone through a minor punk/emo phase myself when I was a teenager. Not so much skulls, but fishnet shirts and collars, the chains belts. I guess you’d call it more of scene phase because I liked bright colors and dancing. So, Nico appealed to me in that sense too.
The Mark of Athena, however, was kind of a letdown for me. It was all Greek POV characters, and I was more interested in Hazel, Frank, and Jason as Leo started to annoy me in this book, I thought Percy shouldn’t have had POV chapters as he had just had his own book, so instead of him, it should have been Jason. But, anyway, it didn’t really make me look forward to The House of Hades.
But by that point Nico was a favorite character, so when HoH came out, or rather when I remembered it had come out, I decided to check the wiki and see if he survived the book. My exact thinking was ‘if he died, I’m done with the series.’
Well. Obviously, he didn’t die. He became one of the first LGBT+ characters in middle school literature. In a fantasy series.
In my experience, the fantasy genre has been rather conservative, especially works aimed towards kids, because getting people to see our sexual orientation is just about sex is super difficult. It’s why we drop ‘sexual’ in sexual orientation. My senior of high school was spent searching for fantasy that starred gay men so I could see myself in the genre I loved, and was told by several friends (who at the time didn’t know better, but now do) that it was stupid to read something just for that. But I was starving to see myself in what I read.
Anyways, Nico coming out huge to me, a young gay man. My favorite character was like me. Sure, he was fourteen and I was twenty-five at the time, but still. It was nice, to see some of myself in this character I enjoyed. No subtext, just text. Someone who was like me when I was a teenager.
I went from almost giving up on the series to loving it all the more. Obviously, I bought the book and devoured it as fast as I could. It was more enjoyable than Mark of Athena, though there were things I didn’t like; Piper didn’t get a lot of action, I felt there was too much focus on Percy and Annabeth and that a few of their chapters could have been subbed out and the pages given to Piper. The change in narrators wasn’t good. Joshua Swanson was a better narrator than Nick Chamian. I always wondered why the change. My gut says Swanson didn’t want to do anything gay, but I have nothing to back that up. And it’s a moot point, as it looks like they’re going back and making it so each POV character has a different narrator. A practice that used to annoy me, but now I enjoy. I’m not a Jesse Bernstein fan, the narrator for PJO, fan. His narration is fine, but it’s not groundbreaking. The Apollo series had the best narrator. More on that later.
Funny thing though, outside of the PJO books, Nico’s always given a voice that’s a bit deeper than the main character, despite being younger, I just think it’s funny.
I eagerly awaited Blood of Olympus. I was shipping Jasico because Jason was so nice to Nico when he needed it.
Blood of Olympus came out, and it was fine. I remember so many people disliking the book for whatever reasons, but to me, it was fine. I was hoping for something more between Jason and Nico than what we got, but I was okay with it. Nico didn’t need a boyfriend, Nico needed healing, and the ship tease with Will Solace was okay with me.
I remember a lot of people saying Will was nineteen because of fan driven wiki, and I was like ‘guys, they’re a) not dating yet, and b) Will’s barely a character whose age hasn’t been stated at all. He could have been younger than Nico for all we knew. When The Hidden Oracle came out, I had a chuckle at Will stating his age to be fifteen, because people were up in arms about the theoretical age difference.
Honestly, so much drama happened when Will was promoted from ‘guy representing Apollo Cabin’ to ‘potential love interest for Nico’ that looking back, it makes me cringe. So many people were up in arms about someone who at that point was barely a character.
“He’s too controlling with his ‘Doctor’s Orders’ ‘he touches people without being asked’” and so on. People were mad because he was dismissive of Nico’s view of the camp, you know, without remembering Jason more or less said the exact same thing to him in House of Hades. And none of it actually had to do with Will’s behavior and it all had to do with shipping. My opinion of shipping is mostly neutral, but some of the crap that gets pulled out in order to justify an opinion on not liking a ship really annoys me. Not just for this fandom, but for others.
There are no real stakes in shipwars, it’s all masturbatory performance people do to make themselves feel better about themselves and convince others they’re better. I have very little respect for people who claim their ship is ‘the moral’ ship. And in the case of Will and Nico at the time of Blood of Olympus, it was extremely annoying for people to care so much about something that could have very easily ignored because Will had so little canon material.
As someone back when The Hidden Oracle came out said, “we were all joking that Will was going to Nico on a leash with ‘Doctor’s Orders’ but instead he gave Nico a doctor’s note basically letting him do what he wants.” Which at the time got a laugh out of me, but now I’m like ‘well, fandom made a much bigger deal out of it than it needed to’
Will was fleshed out as character in both The Hidden Oracle and The Tower of Nero, and while I respect people who don’t like Nico and Will over Nico and Jason, I do raise eyebrows at people who will cling to perceptions of Will that were formed before we got to know him better. Are there things that could have been better handled? Of course, but why spend your time hating something when it’s easier and healthier to ignore it and focus on doing things you enjoy?
I’m going to be honest, Will and Nico are fine as teenagers in their first relationship, but I don’t really see it lasting into adulthood. I didn’t see Jason and Piper (…), or Percy and Annabeth lasting into adulthood either. Though with Percabeth I was like ‘well, if they do, it’s going to be super co-dependent and unhealthy.’ So that’s in a lot of my unpublished and uncompleted fanfics. I’m just not a fan of the high school sweethearts trope unless they’re getting back together. So, if you’re wondering what my stance is on Nico’s canon relationship, that’s it. It’s cute, it’s a first relationship, it doesn’t have to be perfect.
(And the fact fandom in general has bought into the idea that all gay relationships must be perfect and unproblematic is both boring and problematic in and of itself. I have little patience for that kind of thinking.)
Anyway, moving on.
Apollo’s books were everything I could have wanted for a series of books about Apollo. Well, I wanted more Nico, but I really enjoyed Apollo’s books. Robbie Daymond was the narrator for the audiobooks, and I highly recommend them. Daymond is a fantastic actor in general, and these books were my first introduction to him really. I knew he voiced Prompto in Final Fantasy XV, but I couldn’t into the game for a variety of reasons. He voices Mamoru/Tuxedo Mask in the Viz dub of Sailor Moon, and he has a whole portfolio of amazing characters to his name. Hubert from Fire Emblem Three Houses, Kayn from League of Legends. All around great actor. Daymond being a massive nerd has only endeared me more to him. He was on Critical Role and his character Dorian Storm is a lot like how he voiced Apollo. I’ve only become more of a fan of his since. And if I ever get my book published, I want him to be the narrator for it.
The Kane Chronicles were fun, though not as neatly integrated into the universe as Magnus’ books, and I adore Magnus and his friends. It’s super cool to see the world just grow so much more diverse with LGBT+ characters like Nico and Alex. Having an entire series starring Apollo being unashamedly bisexual was just, so much. I could just gush about the Apollo books, along with Magnus discovering he’s not straight. It’s just a lot, and I wish that I was a kid again, growing up reading these.
So going from the Apollo books, back to Percy’s books. It’s hard. And when people say they prefer the PJO series and wish it had ended after that I find myself confused as to why. The first five books are incredibly white and cis, and looking back, I have to think Riordan made that choice to get published back in the early part of this century. Once he had more clout, he made the world more diverse in skin color and culture with Piper, Leo, Frank, and Hazel, and then Nico came out in House of Hades, and his world just hasn’t stopped being so much better for it.
Riordan might miss the mark sometimes, but he tries, he tries his best, and that’s more than what a lot of people do. I would rather someone try and fail in good faith than no one try at all. And it annoys me that so many people are dismissive of that. By all means, call him out when he gets something wrong but at the same time, remember you’re enjoying his labor and he does get things right as well. Anger is one thing, being mean is another.
Anyway, that’s my retrospective on the series. In April, I plan on rereading the entire series, Kane Chronicles and Magnus books included, to get ready for Nico’s book. I’ll probably have more thoughts then.

GET TO KNOW THE AUTHOR.
name: Jo
pronouns: she / her
preference of communication: probably DMs on the dash although I don't mind discord I just tend to be slower on there . Of course , DMs at all give me anxiety so sometimes I just get slow and don't respond right away because being perceived even through like 1 on 1 conversation freaks me out idk .
most active muse: this literally changes every day . right now I'm reading pjo again and have a bunch of greek mythos muse . but I tend to always have high muse for twilight / thg muses - probably because I have been down bad for twilight since the start of my rp career and thg I've developed so much in my head sldkfj.
experience/how many years: too long man . so I started way back on myspace in 2009 with a random renesmee blog - but it was very short lived because I ran into this huge twilight group and turned her into an oc named chloe lucas . eventually , the person who vacated a brady fuller profile offered up the entire edited page for whoever wanted it so I took it over and entered into some of the best times of my life . I fell in love with brady ( & a ship I had on there which was so angsty and just lsdkfj ) and ended up writing analee ( now analeigh here ) ateara , kim connweller , and I'm sure some others I'm forgetting . any way the mun behind part of my brady ship introduced me from there to tumblr and I joined a pjo rpg group as cora ( a daughter of demeter ) . from there the biggest tumblr group moment was mushu's daughter in a disney group named faith who I adored & I dilly-dallied around on here in groups until the same mun that brought me here ( miss you so much skdlfj ) introduced me to indie . and I've been stuck in the indie hell-hole for years . I started out with just a single muse jacob blog ( spaceheatcr - sigh I loved that blog ) and then eventually came around to the idea of multi-muses and here I am .
best experience: I'd have to say the first twilight group ( twilight teams - it was so cute you were " team forks " or " team la push " or " team volturi " or " team nomad " depending on who you wrote / where they lived ) on myspace because I met hella lifelong friends that I still have on facebook etc and it made me fall in love with writing / expressing & developing different muses . also the disney group I was in on here ( back to disney I think it was called ? it was a boarding school type for disney character's kids and SO cute and the admins were all so sweet I cry ) was amazing and just wholesome . and then spaceheatcr my jacob single muse because I also made lots of friends ( hales literally brought me back for this blog so I mean come on ) and idk.
rp pet peeves: bothering me over plots I don't agree with / if I block you / don't follow you / don't respond in time in a pestering way . I don't mind a hey is this thread still going if it's been awhile but I've had a few instances where people just were icky over like my time and availability . it makes writing a chore for me and that's when I usually go on hiatus . also, there is a reason I usually do mains and not exclusives on indie blogs . I had a horrid experience with a ship where the mun literally followed me onto here from myspace and acted super clingy / possessive over a male muse of mine ( i won't go into details this isn't a call-out but still ) and would like get jealous / angry ooc if he interacted with any other people in any ship way / close way etc etc etc and just all this other shit so yeah, I'm on indie for a reason - I enjoy exploring multiple ships ( not even just romantic but ya know ) and universes and aus and what have you so like - idk, exclusives are not my thing and mainly bc of that . I'm so scared of that happening again .
plots or memes: memes are the best way to get ideas rolling in my head because sometimes I just hit a block with plots and also idk where to go with new people ? mostly because I feel awkward and don't wanna suggest things and like offend or upset anyone so it's always a good idea just to either attack me with plots or memes lol. most of the time I'll say yes - esp now that I have a ship page for canon up for my thoughts on them and have some headcanons rolling for my own canon views .
long or short replies: this honestly depends entirely on my muse and not on my partner at all . sometimes short replies have to happen to transition . sometimes short replies are all I can come up with because my muse is fighting me . and sometimes I go stupid and crazy and give you a novella . it's literally all me not you sdlkfj and will vary within threads and memes for the same muses depending . so never be discouraged !!!
are you like your muse: I have so many muses - a lot of them I am drawn to because there is something I see in them that I guess is like me ? some are not like me at all tbh . I guess it all depends on who we're talking about . I try to have variety so idk .
tagged by : slightly stolen from @divienity tagging : all of you !!

okay I admit the new pjo book (also maybe the solangelo book?) might just be a cash-grab- im still gonna read it and before u label me as a hater here's why-
Rick Riordan admitted the end of the Percy jackson universe once the Tower of Nero came in 2020 and even though it was sad it was a blissful send-off to a very good series- it got ruined by the movies but didn't at least have a storyline that was ridiculously dragged to the ends of the earth even though we had side books (CHB confidential, Demigods and Magicians, CJ confidential etc.) and that was what kept it a gem unlike *cough* HP *COUGH* doing multiple "standalone side books" and labelling them as "side adventures/quests" multiple times isn't fooling anybody
Other series Riordan made (Magnus Chase and Kane Chronicles) didn't get much other than 1-2 side books and thats it- meanwhile just the Percy Jackson series gets so much spin-offs, movies and other things- and yes I get it it was popular and it was popular for a reason but stop capitalising off your most popular series and over-catering to the majority for 1 second and maybe add a bit of background lore and attention to another series? the fact that Rick basically forgot abt his other series and is just making more and more books on pjo is just a dead giveaway for a cash-grab
Also this goes without mention but- YOU LITERALLY DIDN'T EVEN PUBLISH THE SUN AND THE STAR YET, DISNEY IS STILL WORKING ON THE SHOW, THE KANE CHRONICLES MOVIES DIDN'T EVEN GET CASTINGS YET, AND THE CELTIC BOOK SERIES IS LITERALLY FORGOTTEN??? AND NOW UR MAKING A NEW BOOK???
like I said I will read the books- but Rick is definitely no longer making books just for the universe-expansion.

Fic Writer Question Meme
Thank you to @missroserose :) their post is the one I saw first
TW for all my fics! Any fic I link probably has at least one common trigger in it and at the time of writing it I may not have properly labeled it.
How many works do you have on Ao3?
63 are published on Ao3, I believe 38 on FF, and maybe 5 on Tumblr? I have over ~1800 WIPs unpublished as some of my WIPs are published amid those websites/apps
What’s your total Ao3 word count?
200k, uh 206,726 to be exact
How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
uh, lemme count my folders in Notes…. a minimum of 63… Holy Crow 63 again. I’m still gonna go count the specifics too cuz some of these are huge groupings like MCU or Disney. Okay so 63 + 53 is 116 I think? So 116 fandoms? oh god wait what are they? ill make a list,,,
Fandoms I’ve Written For:
A Quiet Place, Aladdin, Alice in Wonderland, Atlantis: The Lost Empire, Barbie, Beauty and the Beast, Big Hero Six, Jump, Brave,
Cinderella (all), Encanto, Ever After High, Frozen, HTTYD, The Little Mermaid (all), Luca, Moana, RotG, Robots (2005), Sing, Tangled, The Incredibles,
Toy Story (3-4), Winx, Zootopia, The Umbrella Academy, Castle, The Flash, BTS, The Nutcracker, Subnautica, FNAF:SB, Spiritfarer, ATLA, Gravity Falls, I Am Mother,
Corpse, Cartoonz, Delirious, Irish/Spooky!Lads, Gab Smolders, LilyPichu, Micheal Reeves, Markiplier, Amy Nelson,
The Last of Us, CrankGamePlays, GassyMexican, Smii7y, Kryoz, Thomas Sanders, Julie & the Phantoms, Other Kpop, The Three Female Runaways,
Squid Game, Train to Busan, Switchcraft, Professor Layton, Undertale, Dimension 20, Power Rangers, BBC Merlin, Sanders Sides, PJO/HOO, Slugterra,
Minecraft (not mcyt), Stardew, Animal Crossing, Terraria, Ouran Highschool Host Club, Criminal Minds, Supernatural, Legend of Zelda/Linked Universe,
Danny Phantom, Doctor Who, Maze Runner, Teen Wolf, Limitless (TV), Steven Universe, Princess Debut, Sense 8, City of Ember, Bomberman R+, Arcane,
League of Legends, Overwatch, A Little Princess, Whale Rider, SCP, Edith Finch, GTFO, Scott Pilgrim, Emily the Strange,
Pitch Perfect, Spongebob, Stranger Things, The Old Guard, Tinkerbell, True and the Rainbow Kingdom, Seed, Almost Human, Aerial Magic, Fatal Frame,
The OA, The Runaways, She-Ra, Secret Society of Second Born Royals, Divergent, Voltron, MLP, Hogwarts, Firefly/Serenity,
Drake Hollow, Resident Evil, Humans are Weird, Pokemon, Good Omens, Monsters Inc/Uni, Beyond: Two Souls, Young Justice, Slime Rancher, Avengers (all), Iron Man (all), Spider-Man (all), Loki, WandaVision, Eternals,
Shang-Chi, Doctor Strange, Dead by Daylight, Don’t Starve, & more I couldnt find cuz theyre only in Crossovers lol
What are your top 5 fics by Kudos?
1. [All Inclusive Twitter Memes]
2. [Autistic!Character Ideas & Stories]
3. [☂️👶🏻👶🏼]
4. [Standing Up Again]
5. [Night Valen in New York]
These are still pretty surprising to me. The Twitter fic is expected, so is the Autism fic, but the last three really are out of left field
Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
Yes! Absolutely. I don’t fully know how to explain both my feelings and the psychology behind why I respond to comments; but know I’m very passionate about doing so!
What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
Phew, uh, lemme look actually cuz most Angst fics are triggering for me so I never finish them- okay so TW obviously. The angstiest ending I think I’ve ever written (I THINK) is the character revealing their c/s/a to family members
Do you write Crossovers? If so, what is the craziest one you’ve written?
I write almost exclusively in Crossovers lmfao. I have a folder literally named Pandora’s Box where I put my fics that need multiple notes just to keep track. Lemme go find the most complex one,,,
okay so my bestie and I are working on a fic with tens of characters from VERY different places who are all villians and are attending a mental hospital (its legitimate, not a horror fic. I’ve been in one so we’re making it as realistic as we can without it being too triggering or unfun)
Have you ever recieved hate on a fic?
I don’t know… I take a lot of criticism as hate even though it’s not so I don’t really remember the bad ones anymore. I keep comments that make me happy in my inbox for bad days.
Do you write Smut? If so, what kind?
Yes, although I rarely post it. I’m not very good at it so it’s mostly fics about very specific kinks I’ve fantisized about and are having the characters act out in my place.
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I don’t think so. I may have blocked it out if it did occur.
Have you ever had a fic translated?
No, though I’m fully welcome to that.
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
The fic I mentioned previously is my first project with someone else. I don’t write well with many people so, my bestie is really my only option.
What’s your all-time favorite ship?
Probably “Ineffable Husbands”. I’ve felt so much comfort from canon, fanfiction, and the fandom. I learned to love my body because of fanart of Aziraphale.
What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
It’s a fic from like 2015. I’m partially ashamed of it and partially obsessed still. I won’t describe it due to being embarrassed by it’s current state.
I do plan to try rewriting it though. Just recently I discovered it again and considered posting it as it was just to free myself from it.
What are your writing strengths?
I really don’t know? I like to think I’m good at Titles and Summaries, but I have evidence against that. Sometimes, I feel like my crossover ideas, the links and connections I find, are very unique. I don’t even know what you’d call that besides Creativity though.
What are your writing weaknesses?
I was gonna say the genres Angst and Smut. Then, I was gonna mention my grammar. In the end though, I think I struggle to characterize and choose one rule of logic to follow.
I’m far too logical one moment and competely uncaring of logic the next. I also project onto characters far too much sometimes. In my opinion, anyway.
If you’ve read my fics I welcome you to express what my weakness (and strength) is because I’m biased.
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
Yes. Just, Yes. I’m currently working on a fic where the characters speak a mix of 3 dialects of Spanish and Quechua.
The fic is in English of course because I’m not fluent in any of those languages, but I’m writing songs for the fic in those languages and interspersing famous proverbs people tend to use (like “dont judge a book by its cover” but the spanish equivalent) throughout the fic
What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Young Justice probably. I don’t remember if I wrote fanfics before I learned what it was. I imagine I may have written for Winx when I was in Elementary, but I didn’t know it was fic so i can’t recall it now
What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?
Oh this is difficult. On FF my favorite has always been [One Death, Two Scars].
On Ao3…. godex I love these a lot: [Loss of the Wild], [Indulgence], [Secrets….Shhh], [An Unknown Chance], [Love Like You], [Father], [Atlantis: The Lost Wilds], [A Beauty, A Beast, and Some Princes], [Pidge]…. but if I have to pick One???
I really don’t know ahhh. I didn’t even include any of the WIPs… I adore [Modern Medicine], oh and [Secret Memories] oh I truly love this one, I like [What’s Left of Us] and [A Seer’s Trance] a lot… [Changed Fate] is good. I haven’t mentioned a lot of the fics I’m proud of because I’m similtaneously a little embarrassed by the current state of writing,,, but
I just love a lot of my work. I learned a time ago that every piece of work you make is valuable in your progression as a writer. To love myself, I have to love what I create, too. Well, not all of it, but I have to appreciate what the fic has done for me to grow from it.
I like [Confident In Love], [“Crossovers”] is great, [Accidental Burn] is so good, and [Brick by Brick a Family is] is definitely absolutely one of my favorites.
I have a fic just called [🌲💫🗯] that I love (actually any of my Gravity Falls fics I love probably). [Good Parenting 101] is sweet, [Subversions] is like [Indulgence] lol very self indulgent- OH and I havent even mention how many of my Stardew Valley fics for my OC Aluna are so good! Though I don’t know if I’ve ever posted them,,,, oh I also have a completely different fic called [Subversions] thats very different lmao
[Shaking] makes me happy, [Captain America: Falcon’s Call] is definitely a fic I want to finish someday, [The True Iron Legion] is ahhh I love it- okay I need to stop lol I love too many of my fics to keep listing them! I really hope you’ll check them out though,,, I love them a lot.
Nevermind, One more!!! I forgot about [정말 너무 혼란스러 (Never leave me alone)]. Oh screw it. I’m gonna keep recommending my favorites. [Heroes Endgame] is a bit dramatic but It took a lot of work to think about lol. Honestly any of my Luca fics I think are pretty good. I think [‘Ohahu Anu] is really creative. Most my Encanto fics are decent or great.

Hey!! I'm not sure if you're still taking prompts but I figured I'd give it a shot since you're my favourite Percabeth writer!
My favourite phase of a relationship is always right before they get together, with all the confusion, hurt, fighting and tension. I'm currently rereading all the pjo books and I'm just so disappointed by how few scenes there are of Percabeth in that phase of theirs, right after BOTL and before TLO. I'd love to see a fic of them fighting/trying to talk things out but being awkward again, etc. especially since we know Sally's wedding happened in that time as well 👀 maybe I'm just a sucker for jealous Annabeth and poor confused Percy lolol
I know that you've written a fic about this b4 and it's easily one of my faves, but hehe it'd be great to have some more from you. (BTW, gotta know your thoughts about the TV show!!! I'm currently already rewatching and having the soundtrack on repeat constantly, I'm in love🥺)
Hi! Thanks for writing in! So, I'm not actually taking prompts at the moment (although I'm going to post the last few of my backlog over the next couple of weeks), but, luckily, I just posted a new story a couple of weeks ago that's set in the fall between BotL and TLO. It's called Truce and takes place in and around Sally's wedding--the Ao3 link is here so definitely check it out! It's also posted on Fanfiction.net, I just don't have the link available at the moment. I really like this period of time for them, too (so much angst!). My story Complicated is also set during this time.
As for the TV show, I'm loving it! Can't wait for the new episode this week and finally getting to the Underworld, and I'm also really sad that next week is the finale already. I've been making some notes for myself as I watch, so I may do a longer post once all the episodes are out, but overall, I think the cast is doing an INCREDIBLE job, I'm loving that it's taking a few unexpected turns that keep it fresh, episode 5 was pretty much absolute perfection in my book, and I can't wait to see how everything ties up in these next two episodes.
Also, if Disney doesn't greenlight season 2 asap, I may cry lol would love to see the new Sea of Monsters interpretation (and then also books 3, 4, and 5, too--I think they should just greenlight the whole thing and get to work, ha).

The Netflix ATLA adaptation is-- ugh-- not good? At least... it won't be good if you've ever seen the animated ATLA. It's an --eh-- adaptation, yet a decent story. So, it will be entertaining and a lovely family show for those completely unfamiliar with the animated series.
In terms of adaptations, I'd compare it to the Lightning Thief and Sea of Monsters movies. Some strong casting choices and an entertaining story (in a vacuum) with exciting fight sequences and special effects. But the story they tell is more "inspired" by the original than an adaptation of the original into a new medium. You have the same characters, and the characters start their journey for much the same reason (same overarching conflict), and the bad guy is the same, and there are a couple destinations that are the same along the way, but the rest of the plot is completely new, and the reason they've come to certain familiar destinations is also new.
Now, I understand that adaptations need to omit parts, blend parts, change parts, and-- well-- adapt parts for a new medium and in consideration of time constraints and logistical constraints (a good example of this is NATLA removing the end of summer deadline given the logistics and time-frame for filming). I have no issue with that, so do not take this post out of proportion.
I'd actually contrast this adaptation with the recent PJO Disney+ adaptation. While there were parts of the show that were hurried due to time constraints, what was omitted (see: hell hound scene as an example), what was blended (see: DOA recording studios and Crusty's as an example), and what was adapted and added (see: Percy's confrontation with the Luke at the end, the flashbacks, meeting Hermes and laying the foundations of Luke's character and past, and no spiders in the tunnel) do not detract from the story. It tells the same story in a new, creative way for a new medium, and that is what an adaptation is supposed to do. It did so well that the show's only major weakness was its tendency to show rather than tell for the sake of time in a few instances toward the end of the season.
An adaptation can add and omit and be different from the source material, often to help with pacing and to observe new time constraints or logistics concerns, but NATLA made seemingly unnecessary choices that completely change character arcs, and this will have major consequences for how this version's story will end (if Netflix gives it an end). I saw one user on here say that Netflix's ATLA adaptation is as if they took ATLA, stirred it up in a large pot, and then chose certain bits and pieces of that story from there. It's like Lacroix ATLA, a hint of being written next door to a viewing room by people who only kind of remember these character's arcs from their childhood.
EX:
They mashed together the Swamp plotline (kinda) with the Solstice plotline (kinda) with every Spirit World plotline in season 1 of ATLA (yes, Hei Bai, Roku, and Koh) with a bit of the Blue Spirit plotline and June's plotline in two episodes (but omitted the Abbey as they changed the Bato plotline). They also mashed together the Omashu plotline with Jet's plotline with the Northern Air Temple plotline (the mechanist) in about one-and-a-half episodes.
They omitted the Pirate plotline, the Canyon plotline, and the Deserter plotline (Jeong-Jeong erasure). They also kinda skipped over the Bato plotline (rather than a short arc meant to force Aang's character growth and feature Sokka and Katara's choice to fully commit to the hero's journey, it was a flashback to explore Sokka's despair and fear of being a leader), but this change to the ice dodging story was okay. They also kinda skipped over the Storm plotline (we still got Zuko's background and the agni kai with his father, but his relationship with his crew is very different, and we do not get Aang's story about choosing to run away from his future responsibilities), but I liked how they incorporated the 41st Battalion-- the new recruits Zuko was banished for speaking out for-- into members of Zuko's ship crew.
However, all of this means we do not have a story featuring Aang coming to terms with cultural change over 100 years. We also do not have a story about Aang feeling like an outcast (then and now) and coming to terms with his guilt. While he does get a conversation with Gyatso, who tells him that he shouldn't feel guilt, this is very different than personally coming to terms with the culpability he feels for the fate of the world after being frozen for 100 years and running away (show Aang did not run away, but went for a short fly to clear his mind and got stuck in a storm). Aang's tendency to avoid conflict (like running away or hiding things, etc) will be a major part of his struggle with earth bending. However, this Aang does not avoid and evade. Season one explored Aang's struggles with change and flow as he learned to bend the element of change and flow: water. However, this Aang does not seem to have trouble accepting change, going with a new flow, and adapting to new circumstances. We also do not have a story about Aang learning to be a diplomat.
Additionally, we do not have a story featuring Sokka and Katara confronting their grief and coming to terms with their feelings of failure in their respective roles as assigned to them in their parentification (Sokka as the last leader and protector of his cultural heritage in the face of genocide, where he is expected to lay down his life for people with "bigger" destinies than him-- Yue, Katara-- and Katara as the last water bender of the Southern Water Tribe, tasked with surviving and learning to be a bender, possibly at the sacrifice or danger of the people she loves-- her mother and her friends), despite getting one about their despair.
They also omitted events that showcase Aang's carefree nature in season 1, which will make it difficult to contrast who he becomes by the war's end and upon mastering all four elements. This version changes Katara's character, too (as it seems to have done with all the characters), as she's far more level-headed and cautious in this adaptation and is largely missing the anger that made her such a relatable character for many young girls. I also do not know how they'll introduce the white lotus for the Liberation of Ba Sing Se-- if Netflix, notorious for canceling shows, gives this more seasons-- when chunks of the white lotus have been omitted from this version.
I think these changes to the character arcs ultimately detract from the characters and the overall course of this story, making it into a story inspired by the original-- like an AU-- rather than an adaptation.
On the other hand, a change from the original material that I enjoyed is this adaptation's telling of Azula's story, portraying the immense pressure she was always under, as well as the way Ozai manipulated her and encouraged his children to resent each other. I also enjoyed that Ozai wasn't just an archetypal big-bad, but a deeply flawed and cruel man driven by his fanaticism. It was clear he knew what he was doing in his treatment of those around him, and he knew that it hurt them, but he did it anyway because he believed it was morally right and that he had the moral right as the leader of his nation and family.
The NATLA actors had big shoes to fill, and I think they did their characters justice for the story those characters were given. Daniel Dae Kim said his inspiration for Ozai was modern politicians, and he really brought that to the table. George Takei was a great choice for the voice of Koh, and casting a comedian, Danny Pudi, to play the mechanist was also a good choice. Ian Ousley (Sokka) brought the energy of a sardonic, cringe-fail nerd with the potential to become a wicked smart strategist and engineer who is weighed down by grief and impossible responsibilities. Dallas James Liu (Zuko) brought the energy of a resentful and, at times, cruel ball of anger and angst who is tormented by internal moral conflicts and memories of abuse. Gordon Cormier (Aang) and Kiawentiio Tarbell (Katara) both brought the idealism of their characters and the hope for the future they represent in the face of genocide.
Ultimately, I think the show was handicapped by its medium (live-action) and length (eight 40-minute episodes). There were a lot of critical character-development plotlines they had to omit, and many that they had to find a way to sort of shoehorn into just three to four middle episodes. However, to do that, they made critical changes that will affect the story. What makes ATLA such a beloved piece of media is how dynamic the characters are, and I just can't see this adaptation accomplishing this given how the characters and their arcs have been changed.
A good adaptation is hard to achieve.

i am not much of a talker on Tumblr but this has been a really frustrating time for me. i’m a big pjo fan, like i’m 20 now and I’ve been reading the books since i was 8. i’ve read both Percy Jackson series, the Kane chronicles, earlier Magnus books and even a bit of the Trials of Apollo. all this to say i love rick riordan’s works. i didn’t love the casting decision for the disney+ show.
i am not racist. along with being a black person, i have the utmost faith that leah is an amazing actor, and that she will serve her role well. but she is not the annabeth i had imagined. and i am sure that for people who are new to pjo or maybe not that knowledgeable, they will enjoy the disney+ show just as much as if annabeth had been white.
but i was a little black girl once, and i had a smart blonde girl who was underestimated for her intelligence and her strength, and i saw myself in her, and i was really excited to see the girl that i had envisioned on the screen. people say that it’s not important what she actually looks like, but to me it is? this is not the comfort character i grew up with? and maybe no actress could have been, but i am still upset.
unfortunately, some people are racists, and feel comfortable taking out their malcontent on a young black girl. i dont. i have no ill will against a small preteen, but i’m upset.
i would like to be upset without being lumped in with people who bully a young girl. i would like to have my month or so of sulking over once again losing the chance to see the characters i grew up with on the screen, but i don’t want to risk racists agreeing with me.
so!! uh!! this has been a real bad time for me!! and if anyone who sees this is in a similar position i would like to remind you that you’re allowed to be upset, but once again there is no reason to take it out on a young girl who just wants the best for herself.

10 Anti LO Asks
1. Sometimes I feel bad about the rage I feel about LO because like, bad works really should be allowed to exist. It's fine to turn off your brain for Fast and Furious or get horny over 50 Shades. The problem I have is LO's fake deep lessons it gives, pushing toward the WRONG direction. I'd be far less annoyed if it was just another trashy romance. Hades would have been fine as a shit guy; people love getting hot for fictional villains. This "aktchually he's the good guy" angle is embarrassing.
2. LO fans are more than happy to imagine the gods are neon pink and blue but at the same time get offended you fancast the actual gods as anything but blonde, blue eyed white people to be "accurate". even LO fan casts are overwhelming white people (and never greek, mind you) unless it's a villain like apollo or minthe, then they just HAPPEN to be black 🤔🤨
3. assuming the PJO Disney+ show is good and gets more seasons, just get ready for LO fans to try and review bomb it and harass the crew/cast because they'll see a popular series they already hate be mythology accurate with HxP and even show Hades would leave her to be with (gasp) a mortal instead. Apollo is even shown positively in it too!
4. The idea massive age gaps are "normal" IRL is a huge lie. It's basic statistics that most couples are within 2-5 years of each other's ages, while much older partners is a HUGE abnormally. Going off RS's ages for them (19/20 vs 40s mentally) that's barely 1% of the population, with divorce rates being HIGHER for these couples than closer in age ones. Just because old rock stars, actors, and businessmen marry women who can be their daughters' ages does not make it the norm, far from it actually.
5. RS claims she's "fighting against the toxic nature of purity culture" as if the FIRST EPISODE didn't set up the Madonna/Whore trope in Persephone and Minthe. Even them being with men that aren't Hades is framed this way. Persephone is still the pure heroine who was assaulted, she'd never willingly sleep with anyone who isn't her eventual husband! Meanwhile Minthe is the cheating whore though Hades also cheats on her and they're not exclusive. RS just lies so casually about what she depicts.
6. Ive LO fans say the Trojans deserved to be killed because they're "the bad guys" to the Greeks and bc Apollo is their patron god like?? Really?? The countless innocent men, women, and children deserved to DIE because of your shitty understanding of mythology and you not being able to tell Rachel's bad depictions apart from the actual gods? Did they read about Hektor's baby son being murdered and think he deserved it because Apollo may have liked him? These people are so gross.
7. Remember that one time when RS slutshamed Minthe for wearing a revealing dress to kid's party? Same kid who brings her mom alcohol drinks like it's nothing? And some chapters later we learn it's perfectly normal for gods to be naked around each other even if they are underage? And the shaming words come from a guy who is lusting over teenager's barely covered ass? And it's supposed to be women empowering webtoon? I just love the logic and consistency! No sarcasm, seriously!
8. Good time of the day to you I came with some news! This news may not be relevant or interesting, but when browsing the tag "Circe" here, I found this-https://why-i-love-comics.tumblr.com/post/658087925147369472/wonder-woman-black-gold-2-the-acquaintance  comic. This piece was done by RS, as you can see. Sometimes I compare her monochrome art, and the art her team colors off her sketches, and in my opinion LO would look better in black and white color scheme with some details in color! But that wouldn't work very well the color shading is inconsistent and would not look good!
9. i feel like LO fans are the same people who watched Labyrinth and got mad the MC didn't want to be with the Goblin King because they ignore the fact she was a sixteen year old girl who got over the initial desire for an older man praising her to instead see he was manipulating her and he was, duh, the villain of the movie. Like guys, there's a reason "older powerful man chases and lusts after an impressionable young girl/woman" both in fiction and in real life is seen as a BAD thing.
10. Something that I wish is Amphitrite being more important, she’s a queen and I don’t think she’s had one speaking line in 2 seasons.

Word Count: 2.7k
Pairing(s): Tom Holland x Actress!Reader
Warnings: FLUFF with a slightly (barely) suggestive sentence towards the end
A/n: damn I can't write anything except actress reader? smh but this is for @londonspidey ‘s sit-com Writing challenge (ik I'm early lol) but I was so excited I wrote the whole thing in one go lmao the prompt is bolded!
Tumblr media
Calling yourself a fan was an understatement. You were obsessed with anything and everything marvel. And oddly enough, you could after today say you were in the club. It wasn’t a public fact yet, until later that day actually, at the Marvel panel at comic con that you were being announced as the actress for the character, Felica Hardy and no one else knew except for the people who cast you and your best friend who signed an NDA. You were technically still a known actress for your roles on television mainly as Thalia on the PJO Disney + series and a couple of still decently sized films.
You were currently wrapping up signing autographs for fans of yours for today. Your team had planned it out so it wasn’t suspicious that you were at the con with a few of your castmates scattered doing other junkets and press so people wouldn’t guess who they were acting as the cast for new marvel projects.
You had been planning to go meet your best friend, who wasn’t in the industry before getting a text that she bought you both a photo-op with someone and she wouldn’t tell you who. You couldn’t only assume it was a marvel actor that you would indeed, freak out.
Y/b/n: btw I brought you a mask. I get the wig lol.
You: please tell me it doesn’t cover my full face. Also, how are we posing?
Y/b/n: I bought as many photo ops as I could so a lot of different ones, And if I tell you the poses it’ll spoil it.
You: is this with the money I pay you to be my assistant with? Lol fine I’m omw with security
Y/b/n: maybe…
Y/b/n: and they’ll need more backup security for who we’re getting a photo op with than you do for your hellfire.
You roll your eyes before taking your stuff and exiting the booth, before heading out the backways with staff security and your detailed security for the day. You only had security because you wanted to explore the con when you weren’t needed.
Your best friend had also been your assistant for the con weekend, but you didn’t want her to be confined to you the whole three days so when she could, you would let her explore it, at least she could experience it as a fan, right?
When you made it to that part of the building, you wanted to wait in line with her, which your security didn’t agree to so she texted you when there were about five people ahead of her. She was one of the last in line, with you asking her to be kind, so others would get their chance to be first with whomever it was.
When she texted you and your detailed exit, getting a few stares and others taking their phones out to either take photos or tweet, you wave at them before joining your best friend in line.
“Here,” she says before handing you none other than a black cat mask before she puts on a red wig.
You glare at her slightly trying to not make a scene, before putting it on.
“I’m assuming you're Mary Jane?” you laugh figuring out that it had to be someone from Spider-Man.
“How’d you- never mind.” She laughs with you.
She then explains how she’s going to pose for your five photo ops, joking in between how she should “get a raise for this”.
You catch sight of him before sucking in your breath. This was either going to go down amazingly or terribly, there was no in-between with you.
“Excuse Me, are you Y/n Y/l/n?”
You turn around and are met by some fans who were standing in line behind you.
“I am! How’s your con going?” you ask politely to the two of them.
“It's going amazing! We love you as Thalia! Could we maybe get a picture? Only if it’s okay?”
“Of course! Thank you for supporting me!” your best friend grabs their phone to take the photo, before you take off the mask, and stand between the two fans, and your best friend snaps a few photos.
“Thank you so much! And Are you fans of Tom?”
You start slowly walking back to catch up to the line.
“Yeah, I love him as Spiderman, but I also enjoy his other roles. He's very talented, I'd love to work with him one day!”
“Have you seen him in Uncharted?  We love Him as Nathan drake!”
“I have, he was amazing per usual! How are you two posing with him?”
They show you their innovative pose. You laugh and tell them it's great before you have to wish them goodbye before heading up for your turn for the photo op.
“How do we want to pose- hang on, I recognize you!”
You freeze slightly before your friend mouths for you to flirt. You look down at the mask in your hand before getting into character and saying “Of course you do Spidey, I'm always causing you trouble.” you put on the mask and wink.
He seems slightly stunned, laughing, feeling like he’s seen you somewhere, not only because he found you extremely gorgeous, while in his peripheral vision he sees his brother/ assistant, Harry waving like a madman on the side.
Your friend directs you both through the poses, first, one both him putting “webs” onto you as she looks over his shoulder, the second one, both of you kissing his cheeks, the third, all jumping in the air in your best superhero poses, the fourth one she gets a photo op alone and the last one she gives to you,
“Seriously, who are you?”
“Your Wildest dreams, baby,” you say, taking off the mask.
Your best friend yells “freestyle” from the sidelines before Tom dips you, gently, with you shocked, holding the mask out with your free arm and the photo captures that moment.
He gently helps you stand back up fully, not before you drop the mask.
“Nice moves Spider-Man.”
“Not so bad yourself, Black Cat.”
You laugh before, taking off with your best friend, well more her dragging you to the printing station leaving the mask behind. Tom picks it up before shoving it in his back pocket to hopefully give back if he could find you.
-
`You were sitting in the green room, trending on Twitter before you were actually supposed to be trending on Twitter, and god knows where else.
Someone had snuck a video of you and Tom, up till him dipping you, and a video of you interacting with the fans in the line.
Your Y/b/n was currently reading off some tweets out loud
“‘A kind queen we stan.’  I agree, I also agree with ‘Date her if you can't date me tom!!!’.
‘THALIA AND PETER PARKER??? My two fandoms have collided.’ same, same. Oo this one says, ‘if she ain’t playing black cat I will sue marvel.’ I'm dying at the reply ‘She needs to post the photos or I'll sue her!’. This one’s funny, ‘she could squash him like a bug in heels but he liked his queen like that.’.”
She pauses watching you texting.
“Y/n? Y/n?”
“What? Sorry I was only half listening. I was texting my publicist. She said to stay on the DL until tonight.
“Well we should get food, you haven't eaten since this morning.”
“By the way, your show has shot to number one on Disney +. Also, you have like three times the followers you had before, probably cause you're trending on every platform, even Tumblr!”
“Wow you should just become my social media manager now.” you joke trying to ease the joy yet weirded out feeling in your stomach.
“Does that come with a raise? Because after today I've spent way too much of what I'm paid.” she jokes back.
-
After finishing his photo ops Tom asked Harry who she was and to find out. By the time he finished autographs for the day, Tom and Harry walked to the panel room in the back for announcements, one that included him for the new Avengers movie, while Harry gave him the rundown.
“So she’s an actress, she plays Thalia on Disney plus’ Percy Jackson series, and that's her most known project. The other girl with her is her assistant best friend, and now she's trending everywhere. People dug up some old photos of her being a marvel/Spider-Man fan, so there's that. And she's here at the con for the rest of the weekend. She's doing photo ops tomorrow at one, and yes she's single from what I gather since you were looking at her like this.” he makes a weird face before tom smacks him.
“And plus you have time in your schedule to get a photo op with her, that is if you eat lunch quickly.”
That gave Tom an idea.
“Harry I’m going to need you to book me one, oh and help me find a Spider-Man costume!” He says, before leaving harry to do ‘assistant’ work. entering the green room for the announcements, watching them announce a new movie.
“We are so excited to announce to the Marvel Universe, and spider-verse-” that perked tom’s ears, “-directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, and today we are announcing our amazing Miss Felicia Hardy, please give a warm welcome to the stage, Your Black Cat!”
You suddenly emerged in an aisle way, dressed in all black with a leather jacket, black ankle boots, and of course black sunglasses indoors.
The music is marvel music until it suddenly changes after a recorded laugh from you into “I can’t be tamed by Miley Cyrus”.
You start owning the music while saying hi and touching fans’ hands. You decide to take off your sunglasses and throwing them to a fan, for them to keep, before getting on stage.
“What a Performance from the one the only Y/n Y/l/n!”
You laugh, being met with the loudest applause you had heard all con before being handed a Mic.
“Thank you but I'm a terrible dancer.” You Joke.
Tom was staring at the screen stunned. You had been the black cat all along. You were in the marvel universe and spidey one,  so he'd definitely be seeing more of you. The hard part is that you seemed so genuine when you talked, interacted with fans and was no doubt, stunning.
“Better close your mouth or the flies will get in.” Tom turns around to find the voice of none other than his friend slash bully, Sebastian Stan, along with Anthony Mackie.
“Looks like the kid has a crush!” Anthony laughs, pointing to the screen you were on.
“I-I don’t! I don’t even know her!” Tom tries to come to his own defense, hopelessly.
“She’s got you whipped already don’t even deny it.” Harry comes in, joining the teasing of one, Tom Holland.
“Maybe we can invite her out for drinks tonight, then fanboy over here can meet her, and then probably scare her off!” Anthony mentions.
“You haven’t looked on the internet? They’ve already met.” Seb says, before showing Anthony twitter.
Anthony stands there slightly shocked before bursting into laughter.
“Well, she’s damn well a keeper for Tom since she obviously likes him.”
A staff member peaks their head in the green room to tell Tom he’s up next.
“Well, that’s my cue to leave you two!”
On the other hand, you were on an adrenaline high from being on stage, and seeing all the fans. You knew tomorrow was going to be crazy, as you expected people to book your photo op left and right since the announcement.
You had decided to decline an offer from your fellow marvel universe castmates, Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie, which they so graciously told you that whenever you’re free, the offer still stood.
You had gotten to your hotel room seeing your phone blowing up on the social media apps for the second time that day.
You responded to the important stuff, before heading to bed, knowing it was going to be hectic.
-
You had been right, it was absolutely insane, the number of people who showed up. You had fully booked all your time slots for photo ops. You had seen so many people dressed up in marvel cosplay, ranging from Loki to Ironman, even some people dressed up as your character, which was wildly insane to see.
You had been nearing the end of the line and had enjoyed every moment with the fans, and you couldn’t wait for your autographing session later that day, to truly get a chance to talk to the fans and connect with them and how they felt about you being their beloved Black Cat.
After a few more photos, posing how they wanted, you see a fully dressed, head to toe, mask and all, Spider-Man. You had seen some spider-mans but most took off their masks to snap a picture. The person was the last in line.
“Hey Black Cat.” The southern American accented voice tells you, seeming very familiar.
“Hey, Spider, what poses do you have up your sleeve?” you ask kindly.
“I bought a few, Cat.” they laugh.
“Okay, You can do whatever a spider can right?” you pull out a line out of the comics jokingly.
“I can do flips if that’s what you’re asking.”
“Is that some kind of nerd pick-up line? Because it’s only kind of working.” you laugh.
“I really can, but this is one.”
He gets down on one knee, holding a black cat mask instead of a ring. The photographer captures the shocked expression on your face.
“I- Don’t- What- Spider I-”
“Ow My feelings…” Suddenly their voice changes into a British accent before they pull off the mask to reveal-
“Tom?”
“I guess you don’t have a spidey sense darling?” The photographer captures the moment without warning eating the moment up.
You laugh at that.
“I guess you found out my true identity Spider. And it’s nice to officially meet you, Tom.”
He laughs, just as nervous as you, he notices he has gotten closer to you and a strand of hair loosely is blowing in your face, so naturally, he pushes it behind your ear. Another snap of the camera can be heard.
“NOW KISS!” a voice belonging to your best friend yells from the side, mid-eating a churro.
You both laugh really hard at that.
The both of you calm down, slowly leaning lost in the moment. The camera snaps again. You both look at the photographer weirded out, and they just shrug.
“Wait can you actually do a flip?” you ask, pulling away, not wanting prying eyes aka the photographer, to pry in your business.
“I can, though I’d show you later, maybe in the greenroom?”
“That sounds naughty, but, sure.” you joke around.
He laughs before, you both take off from the area going to grab the photos.
-
After spending most of the day together when you could, you get Tom’s number, before heading back to your hotel room. He texts you as soon as you get back.
Spider: I had fun today, minus finding our assistants making out.
You: we should ‘snog’ too, it’ll gross them out ;)
You: I had fun too btw. Are you leaving tomorrow?
Spider: lol we should. And yeah an early flight, 6 am to be exact. Hbu?
You: Yeah me too... another day another dollar lol
Spider: ill miss you, Cat.
You: stop talking like we’ll never see each other again lol. As a matter of fact, come to my room, we’re watching a movie!
Spider: alright, I’ll order snacks.
You sigh smiling at your phone. You haven’t felt this giddy in a long time.
Your phone pings with a few Instagram notifications.
Tomholland2013 has started following you.
Tomholland2013 has tagged you in a photo.
You open Instagram to find the photo of him “proposing” to you posted.
“Ow, my leg, my- feelings...Welcome to the Universe, Cat.” the photo is captioned. You decide to post, the photo of him dipping you.
“So what do you say, Spider? Wanna help me pull off the Heist of the Heist of the Century?” you caption it, Before getting comfortable to watch a movie.
What an opportunity ;)

things we MUST see or have in the pjo adaption:
aka disney+ if you fuck this up i stg im killing mickey damn mouse.
- first of all, please, please, PLEASE give us an age appropriate cast!! one of the beautiful things about pjo is that we watched them grow from being little eighth graders all the way up to seventeen and eighteen and we watched them become mature. i don’t know how many of you guys watched the dc show ‘gotham’ but i loved seeing a naive 12 y/o bruce wayne go through the troubles of gotham city up until 17, we’re growing with them the same way little ten year old me did when i had the books.
- second, do not and i repeat do NOT erase minorities - don’t remove nico being gay, don’t pull an ‘uwu i have adhd and dyslexia’ on near enough the entire plethora of characters, don’t whitewash people of colour. percy jackson is for everyone. that’s how rick made it.
- it would be awesome to have relatively unknown cast members, let their talents shine and give them the boost in popularity that things like harry potter gave daniel radcliffe, emma watson and such. as much as i like them, i don’t want finn wolfhard or the it/stranger things cast - give us new people.
- aphrodite - give her multiple castings. give us a curvy aphrodite, a trans aphrodite, poc aphrodite - everything! beauty is in the eye of the beholder, aphrodite is the epitome of beauty - not the conventional white, blonde, skinny standards of the west.
- do not gloss over the effect kronos has. he sliced and diced his own father before taking his place, he ate his children, he is pure evil. he manipulates luke and targets his faults, the same with ethan and his desire for recognition, kronos is the nightmare under your bed.
- on the same point, don’t gloss over the deaths and the heroism of minor characters, silena’s bravery to lead the ares cabin, charlie’s sacrifice, ethan, lee fletcher’s death and the beautiful death and tragedy of zoe nightshade.
- show us may castellan. the mother who has no idea about the damage her son has done in his blinded rage, the vulnerability of a dying luke who finally saw he was tricked by someone eons older than her. show us the mother who still sits and waits, baking cookies for a boy never to return.
- give us travis and connor stoll and all their shenanigans!
- please give me will solace, god i miss him.
- don’t make hades a bad man, he’s the best out of the big 3 and i’ll be damned if you do him dirty. he cares through actions, the god of the dead is not meant to be a man of words - hades is hospitable, he doesn’t kill or trick the way zeus and poseidon do. hades is kind in a world that hates him, his kindness is rare but it is there.
- alabaster c torrington! that’d be such an awesome cameo!
- don’t overdo the cgi and effects, the movies were guilty of using effects to hide up bad writing and a lack of knowledge of the book - don’t make kronos some hell demon during the battle of manhattan, he was in luke’s body. the only sign was his golden eyes, not demonic horns.
- just remember that a generation of people fought for this for years and we’ll stay fighting for it. the pjo fandom is powerful, long-lasting and frankly protective of the books that made us feel included and we want another to have that same chance.
don’t ruin this for millions and millions of people across the world.
