like how the sky is blue. [vil schoenheit x reader]
notes: vil is a real charmer. he is like this slow, nice comfort that is constant yet somehow always push for the better. like. i can go on. warning: prefect!gn!reader. i just miss twst a lot and really want to write something comfy with a tone that feels like 'home' for prefect.
That day, the sky was blue and bright.
Under such sky, you sat on the grassy field, watching your classmates and upperclassmen flew on their broom. After months spent in Night Raven College, this sight had grown to be familiar to you. You trained your eyes onto the faraway figures of Ace, Deuce, and Grim, occasionally letting out a laugh whenever one of them did something so ‘them’ again.
From where you sat, you could only hear faraway sounds and wind. In a way, it was peaceful and distant.
“Now, look what we have here. A slacking first year prefect, of course.”
Until a voice that was both familiar and sophisticated broke it.
You tried and failed to swallow a nervous smile as you turned your head towards the source—the current Housewarden of Pomefiore, Vil Schoenheit. “Ah, Vil-senpai,” you greeted. “Hello. Are you done?”
“For today, yes,” Vil answered as he took graceful steps and sat beside you, straightening his long legs on the ground whilst leaning back with the support of his two hands. In between the two of you, his broom was laid down.
“Good work, Senpai. Though I kind of expect you to do some extra lap or practice like usual,” you said, remembering how the previous joint classes went.
“Under such harsh sunlight? No, thank you,” he chided, glaring at the sky without any wrinkles in the middle of his eyebrows. You laughed lightly at his response. Hearing your laugh, Vil’s face soften as he turned his attention to you once again, “And also, our favorite prefect seems lonely. Isn’t it expected of me to extend a modicum of kindness towards you, dear Prefect?”
“Oh, come on,” you groaned half-heartedly. “Now you are teasing me.”
“That’s for laughing at me,” Vil said with a pettiness belonging only to NRC students, before letting it went gone without a trace. “But, truly, I never expected those three to let you sit in solitude. Especially Grim, with how sticky he is with you.”
At the last snark directed to your roommate, you chuckled and didn’t refute it. “Yeah. Grim actually tried to bring me up too today, but after… the last few times, Coach Vargas didn’t let him.”
“Ah,” Vil said flatly, clearly recalling the ‘last few times’ where you nearly took a free fall from a high up broom.
“Yeah,” you rubbed your neck. It felt a bit miserable to remember them, even though you had faced worse before.
At the pitiful display, perhaps Vil decided to take pity on you and sighed, as he said, “Oh, well, I might as well accompany little lonely creature like you.”
When Vil said it in the cocky, teasing tone you had grown used too, you couldn't help but laugh. “Thank you, then, Senpai. I shall gladly accept your company,” you said in mock courtesy.
Were you anyone else, Vil would have sent you a mean glare. But in the end, you were the magicless prefect who sometimes got too cheeky and fearless to the point you had worm in your way to a soft, unprofessional spot in his heart. So, Vil opted to simply flick you lightly in the head.
“Ouch,” you said, with as much sincerity as the pain the flick caused. Which was almost none. Vil made sure you saw his indulging scoff, before he resumed the conversation in manners he wouldn't do with many people.
That day, the sky was blue and bright. It wasn't your world’s sky.
And yet, under such sky you and Vil Schoenheit sat side by side with each other.
