Star Names

I have, once again, gotten into Harry Potter fanfiction. To be specific, Rigel Black chronicles recursive fanfiction.

So I'm making my way through wikipedia, going through the constellations and star names, making notes on the ones that are most Given Name-like, ignoring the ones that are after 1980 (quite a few), and noting the ones that might still be too modern/muggle for the Ancient and Most Noble House of Black.

Then I bought a book called Star Names, their Lore and meaning by Richard Hinckley Allen* and went through that. Given how confusing the book is to me, and how it includes poetical names as well as designations, I've marked the beginning of his contributions with *, the end with (RHA).

After all that work, I may as well share it.

Organised by Constellation, the genitive, and sometimes the constellation's abbreviation. Then the names of stars, which I haven't sorted at all. I used the Caelum constellation as a cutoff, which was something like 1756, which cut out suprisingly little compared to the post 1990 cutoff. The IAU has been Busy the last few decades, so many wonderful star names...

When cherryboy Blue meets the beautiful Emelia ... an older, sexier woman xD

Besides Silence x Mesarthim, this is another favorite Saga Frontier rarepair that i’ve discovered in the Japanese fan community! There is also an audience for Blue x Annie too, but I think I prefer Emelia over Annie, just because I secretly ship Red with Annie xD

I’ve talked with someone about how they came to ship Blue x Emelia, and it turns out that their friend had played as Emelia as their first SF character and got Emelia’s BAD ending as their FIRST ending. 

Which then cemented the fact that Emelia would be moving on as a single, bereaving woman, canon-wise (for that friend, of course). 

And then the second SF character they played as was Blue, who then happened to venture out on the Arcane Magic quest, and tada... the very first female character that they recruited in Blue’s story was Emelia!!

And just like that ... a new ship was born ^_^

For my part, I read some wonderful Blue x Emelia fanfics (from the person I talked to) which cemented me as another shipper! I’ve also found some Blue x Emelia art as well, though regrettably, there aren’t as many of them as Rouge x Asellus. (Oh ... and that person also is a huge RouAse fan too ^_^)

I’m currently working on a Rouge x Asellus pic I drew long ago, but still trying to get through the digital parts of it x_x but after that, I’m thinking a Blue x Emelia pic is next! (We’ll see though, because I also really want to do something for Silence x Mesarthim T_T )

My favourite music releases 2023

As it has been tradition for several years now it is time for me to rethink the music releases of this year that stuck with me the most. 10. Bell Witch: Future's Shadow part 1: The Clandestine Gate

Bell Witch keep up their identity as the band that presents some of the densest and most atmospheric doom soundscapes the genre has to offer. This newest entry to their discography plays not only to their previous strengths but in many ways surpasses them with new and enriching ambient elements that simply put enthrall the listener with the earthy sound direction.

9. Graven Dägger: No King's Land

Combining Dungeon Synth elements with any genre of Rock and/or Metal is a surefire way to create a fun aswell as fantastical listening experience. Graven Dägger use the inherently retro aspects of Dungeon Synth as a genre and highten them with their catchy Rock riffs that guarantee some headbobbing with any listener.

8. Maȟpíya Lúta: Wowahla

Yet another stunning entry in the breakout subgenre of Native American Black Metal. From the intense riffs to the exciting sythy intros this record is a treat for any listener searching for a slightly experimental edge to their black metal.

7. Poison Ruïn: Härvest

Punk meets medieval peasant revolt meets deep dark dungeons and dank catacombs. Still a band to look out for in the future. Banger after banger.

6. Trhä: alëce iΩic

It has been a challenge to find the one of Trhäs numerous releases this year to be the one to be put on this list. I picked this one because of the intense atmospheric bliss it represents. A steadfast companion on many a long walk but also just a representative of the rabbit hole that is Trhäs wild and varied discography.

5. Malfet: Dolorous Gard

The obligatory pure Dungeon Synth pick which appears on all my lists of this sort. Malfet is back and he once again offers proof as to why he remains my favourite musician of the entire scene. Music that truly captures the spirit of fantastic tales told since ancient times. From haunting to aetherically beautiful, this album is a must listen of the genre.

4. Downfall of Gaia: Silhouettes of Disgust

There is something to be said about bands like Downfall of Gaia who never seem to fail with any of their release. Allthough this album doesn't offer quite as a much a stylistic change from their last album as it died to the second to last it still refines the current sound of the band to an impressive maelstrom of melancholic mania. The sheer aggression and power behind every track pierce through all the numb feelings that might deafen us to the world around us and the pain that often reminds us of what we are. Devastatingly powerful.

3. vvilderness: Path

Whenever there is a new release by vvildir I can't help but tell anyone around me about it. After listening to it for the first I called my boyfriend at work just to not even be able to speak out of sheer euphoric joy about this staggeringly beautiful album. Vvilderness is a fully unique listening experience and Path definetly presents a very refined and formidably crafted example of this wonderful projects outputs.

2. Рожь (aka Rye): Bcë

Dark but not depressing, fantastical but not whimsical, dreamlike yet fully here. An intense and immersive listening experience that feels woefully underrated to me.

Domhain: Nimue

An expertly crafted release that surprised and amazed me in every single way. I cannot find a fault with the three presented songs besides wanting even more of them. A masterclass of atmospheric songwriting and composition that sits on a unique pedestal. Cannot stop having this one on repeat. What a wonderful thing to be dropped into my lap (and ears).

I apologise in advance if this is a repeated question I’m new here hehe. There’s just things I don’t really understand about the Rephaite. So they are supposedly not offsprings right they just “be” ? If that’s the case how do they have families? And despite being not reproductive they also have sexual desires and have mates so how does that actually work? Is it similar concept to how Athena have children?

Rephaim emerge from the Netherworld itself. You can think of the Netherworld as a kind of womb that grows and births its own inhabitants. It was partly inspired by some of the ways the Greek gods appear, e.g. Athena growing from Zeus's forehead.

The Rephaim have their own language – Glossolalia – but because it can't be spoken or written by most humans, they have to try to name and explain concepts in human languages. For example, they use the English word 'family' as a way to describe groups of Rephaim who consider themselves a sort of clan. The Mesarthim all emerged from the same part of the Netherworld, look alike, and exhibit similar gifts. They're not related in the way humans are, but 'family' or 'kin' is the best word they've been able to find.

They can experience sexual desire regardless of their inability to reproduce sexually. I didn't see why they wouldn't still have sex for pleasure and intimacy.

Hes literally a creature of the night.
