i’ve noticed there are a few things folks tend to trip over with the shape or style of marlo and ness’ tentacles, so... mini refs! hopefully these communicate more of what i’m going for. ;v;

also ness’ fins are boned. they’ve got bones in them. it’s the only part of his body with bones. (they’re very thin and fine, and made of a cartilage-like material.)

alright let’s go over the junior year clues we got in the rick perry documentary thing (disclaimer: i’ve definitely missed stuff, but i think i got the big things, feel free to reblog and add with stuff that i missed though)

[at the bottom of this post I've typed out the decipherable words that plan out some combats and NPCs from Rick's screen. it's the most interesting thing but it's super long so it's at the bottom under a cut]

We get a blurry look at some minis. I’m seeing at least the PC’s minis, as well as what looks like Baxter the Gryphon.

There’s some major shots of this battle. Includes a Baby mini, the Hangvan with some kind of laser canon on top, a stingray-esque monster that is likely Night Yorb (see below), something that looks like maybe an ice elemental or the crystal (see below), and some large bugs and shirtless people. Clearly set in the Red Wastes. Detailed info of the planning for this battle below.

One of the shots had reference boards in the background. One is clearly for the Hangvan (see earlier screencaps), but the other is unclear. It looks like it includes some sort of tennis or tennis-adjacent sport.

Confirmation that Mordred Manor is a set piece.

Finally, one shot showed Rick’s computer screen with some critical info about planning. I’ve put what I’ve been able to decipher below the screencaps. and under a cut, as it’s very long.

turns out to have 15 lines of dialogue for a character you have to actually write for them…disappointed and surprised. anyway — here’s five lines from my three most enjoyable to write kiddos!

1. “Bugs in chocolate. It’s a thing, isn’t it? With the FDA? Thou shalt not have more than ‘x’ number of bug bits in every chocolate bar?”

2. “Well, let’s see,” she starts, pausing to pluck an olive from the bottom of her empty martini glass. “I’ve spent the last five years working for a covert terrorist organization without knowing it. My best friend — the only person I have ever trusted with my secrets — was somehow working for that covert terrorist organization without me ever clocking it, and her mother? Well, now I have her breathing down my neck asking me where her daughter is and why I never paid attention to the ‘multitude of red flags waving in my face’. Her words, not mine. Does that answer your question?”

3. “Is it treason to say you’re tired of Captain America? It feels like treason. I’m not going back to the Raft.”

4. “You’re gonna give me a heart attack, you know that? You’re gonna kill your mother.”

5. “Oh, haha. You’re an ass, you know that? Certifiable.”

1. “How come you always think that’s the reason, huh? That I’m jealous? Maybe he’s just a dick.”

2. “I don’t think I can be better than this,” he finally admits, his voice wobbly and thick. “I don’t think I can.”

3. “What? No, Grandma, he didn’t have to—he was just making sure I got in okay. It’s fine. See? I’m fine.”

4. “I miss him,” he rasps, sucking in a shuddery, hiccuped breath. “I miss her, I miss Lily—“

5. “I do feel better now that you’re here.”

1. "No stingrays," Ryan conceded, his answer met with a disappointed stare. "Got stung by a jellyfish a couple years ago in Costa Rica, though."

2. “I haven’t been sleeping well,” he said eventually, frustrated with himself and Mark and the absurdity of it all. “It’s nothing. Just stress. Not sure if you’re aware, but this isn’t exactly an easy job. Or fun, for that matter.”

3. God, he didn’t even know. It had been a long time, and Ryan had done about as much as he could to block out the memory of his own skin burning underneath the end of a cigarette. The smell had been unbearable. “I don’t—I was a kid.”

4. “I’m gonna kiss you again,” he said. His breath ghosted over her lips. “If that’s okay.”

5. “Hey,” Ryan said after a while, rolling his head towards her. There was a playful kind of gleam in his eyes. “Tell me again how brave and heroic I was.”

Stingray manta ray potāto potato (I was one of those ppl that sent a stingray and said Mary whoops)

LOL you're okay!!

But while we are here allow me to educate you in the surface-level differences I know between them!!

Mary is a manta ray (left) where as a sting ray is shown on the right!

One of the most prominent differences you'll notice is size! Manta rays are HUGE while stingrays are pretty small! Manta rays can have a wingspan of over 20 feet!! Even the biggest stingrays are usually only about 6 feet at most.

Also, their shapes are totally different! Manta rays are darkly colored and have the appearance of "horns", leading to them getting the nickname of "devil fish" which contributed to and inspired a lot of Mary's design! (Also the heavy black + white coloring)

Another important thing to note is that stingrays are VENOMOUS! Manta rays are not and that was also a contributing factor that came into play when designing Mary! Because despite the nickname "devil fish", Manta rays are generally very "chill" animals. And like manta rays, I wanted Mary to have a devilish appearance while also being gentle and calm at heart.

Manta rays are also found in open waters where as stingrays try to stay close to the coast. Stingrays are bottom feeders, manta rays are filter feeders. (the inside of their mouths also looks like a cool skeleton, which I think perfectly fits Mary's goth aesthetic too!)

And don't forget!! Mary Anta is literally an anagram of Manta Ray! ♡

The blade of this rapier is fashioned from a giant stingray spine, and the handle from its cartilaginous skeleton. You ignore disadvantage on attack rolls with this weapon caused by wielding it underwater.

It has 3 charges, which it regains once daily at high tide. You can expend 1 charge when you hit with this rapier to deal an extra 1d8 poison damage, and the creature must succeed on a DC 15 Constitution saving throw or become poisoned for 1 minute. While poisoned in this way, a creature is wracked with pain, making it difficult to maintain concentration. A poisoned creature makes another Constitution saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on a success. On a failure, the creature loses concentration.

Ok real quick I need your help!

What are some animals that have really bizarre skeletons? Like stingrays?

My 3rd graders just read about Waterhouse Hawkins and the first models of dinosaurs, and I have a couple of classes to fill before winter break. I'd like to give them images of skeletons so they can try to imagine the creatures they might have come from. The weirder, the better!
